Chara is the one who resets a true pacifist run||theory
just want to put it out there, i am not a “Chara bad guy” believer, but i do have a more diffrent stance on them then most players || Im a undertale fanatic who has played the game wayyy to many times to not theorize about certain things that have taken place in the game or things hinted at. Mostly every theory possible for undertale though that actually makes sense has already been done though, so, something struck me when i was once again like usual resetting a pacifist timeline to play the game all over again to try and get another fun value. This scene particularly where you boot up the game and flowey trys to get you to not reset at the very end of it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At first, brushed it off. Anybody who has watched the “Who is the true Villain of undertale” video on the stance of where chara is in terms of morals will remember it being seen as Flowey saying just a goodbye to Chara but the entire other part of the entire conversation was suppost to be for.. us ?? The player? Which would be such a curve ball to throw and a change of what the entire thing was hinting. for him to do a full 180 and immediately change who hes talking to wouldnt make sense. . What would make more sense is if he truely was talking to Chara through out the entire conversation, it wouldnt stand out so much if he called the person chara through out that entire conversation. It was meant to stand out by him saying it at the very end, when he didnt need to say the chara part at the end at all if he really was referring to us the ‘player!  Theres more evidence then usually seen of him really talking to chara and not the ‘player’ during the whole thing, anybody who has seen the winter clock anniversary will see him acting rude and still very much so murdery in how he talks towards Frisk, (now he does seem to have those little moments though dont get me wrong! He defiently had improved)  And he right here, is still a flower so wouldnt he be acting rude again if he does later on? Well if he is talking to Chara his best friend, he wouldnt talk rudely to them, he doesnt talk rudely to who he believes to be Chara at the genocide route at Asgores castle. now about the whole “player” theory regarding Undertale, Undertale is a game with very obvious hints and lores that do really fit nicely together as if it were a puzzle, and if us the player truely was canon to the game there would be alot more hints, the only hint at all is when flowey during the exact same conversation about not resetting the world and referring to Chara at the end is before he saids Chara’s name, he always saids “You”,  Deltarune is a game where the player really does have many more hints and things along those lines to be theorized about! And they fit very nicely and are alot more clues, so why in Undertale is there really only one thing hinting at it? And you can even brush it off as it NOT hinting at us and is once again hinting at Chara! Hes showing that he knows Chara really is there, his best friend Theres alot more hints regarding it being chara aswell, a character in the Genocide Route who gives us the option to erase or to not, Flowey mentions the word “Erase” a good amount when referring to resetting the world
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
please know not all of these are in order ) Put in the context of Chara being a character who is associated with erasing the timeline, it connects nicely to think this is another hint at it being Chara who he is talking to. Its not frisk
Tumblr media
Flowey out right saids it.  The other part of it being Chara who is the one who truely does Reset or Erase the timeline even in pacifist run makes sense thanks to once again the Genocide route, once you complete it and reset. Chara ruins any pacifist ending attempted. Showing they DO remember the resets, they remember what Frisk (i shall not be referring to player as the one lore wise who does the genocide, specially sense in narration, Frisk is narrated to be showing violent tendencies like stepping roughly on Monster kid or showing no emotion during sans’s joke meaing they are infact the ones doing it,) They remember what frisk had done in the genocide route, despite it being erased or reset, a true reset. now why would it matter if it was a normal reset or true reest? well, Every time a true reset is done no deja vu of previous events remains, characters dont get deja vu of you until a normal reset is done once again and they have met you. Frisk shows no sign aswell of knowing the characters. If you kill toriel and reset afterwards Toriel will say “Wait.. why are you looking at me like that? As if you have seen a ghost? Do you know something i do not?” keep in mind, this was during a normal reset! Not a true reset, you have not finished the game. So frisk (who has determination) remembers what had happened. (and no this dialogue will not play again if you had killed toriel previously but did a true reset after finishing the true pacifst) But when a true reset is done Frisk shows no memory at all of any type of deja vu, no having killed toriel, no being bored at mettatons preformance, and no turning around before sans tells you to. But Chara remembers, Chara remembers even true resets as previously mentioned when Frisk had done the genocide route and had then if picked done pacifist and the ending is ruined because of Chara not letting them get away with it. The reason its so important for Chara to remember a true reset and Frisk to not is because of Flowey. Flowey is a character who has done genocide probably countless times before and has done what were probably true resets aswell afterwards, sense nobody has deja vu of him. This shows thats who ever is the one who does the TRUE reset (not a normal reset, as anybody with determination will remember them like flowey) will remember what had happened before in the other timeline but nobody else even if they have determination will Chara is awoken by Frisks determination as stated at the end of a genocide route, and after Frisk during a true pacifist run had left the underground, all that determination remain with chara.. And Chara who is still stuck in the underground with Flowey, is now the most determind being in the underground, as Frisk is up on the surface and Flowey’s determination doesnt compare to Frisks nor Charas at all. Chara is awoken by Frisks determination its safe to assume that Chara, being a determination soul themself before there death would latch onto the determination Frisk had not intended to wake them up with. They are the most detemind one in the underground, they are left with the power of true reset after Frisks leave. So, Chara is the one flowey is talking to at the end of the pacifist run and is NOT the player who isnt canon to the undertale lore. Frisk does not remember timelines after a true reset is done but Chara does. But leads one question left WHY does Chara do a true reset sense its so hinted at now that its them who does it at the true pacifist run??  Honestly this is where the interpretations truely come in with how you view Chara as a whole, did they do it to try and get a better run where they really can save Asriel? Did they just pull a us move and get curious about what other stuff could happen? Or even eviler motives??  Thats really something i cant figure out as Chara is such a vague character. This theory which i do believe to be correct, really does open a good amount of theorys, aus, and lots of stuff!  I havent seen this thoery done so getting it spread around would be very much appreciated with reblogs! Likes are appreciated but they dont do anything at spreading my content  Please reblog to spread this theory :D edit - wasnt appearing in tags

Do You Even Want To Be a Hero?
The Joker once famously said that all it takes to create a villain, a madman out of anyone, is “One bad day”.
On the surface, the league of villains seems to be an argument in favor for that statement.
For Shigaraki, it was the traumatic events that happened the night he killed his family.
Tumblr media
for Toga, it was the day she snapped and attacked one of her fellow students for his blood.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and for Touya, it was the day he lit himself ablaze.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, what the series goes out of its way to do, is to deconstruct the narrative that all it took was one bad day.
in Shigaraki’s case, while the events that killed his sister, his mother, his dog, and his grandparents were just an unavoidable accident, the way his father died was not.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
shigaraki murdered his old man in a rage, lashing out against his abuser who had just hit him for the last time. the final part of an entierly avoidable drama of parental abuse.
even after the event, Shigaraki might not have turned into such a monster later in life, if a single person had reached out to try and help him in the aftermath of it all.
Tumblr media
Toga’s case is a bit different, as what happened with her, was that she was was raised by her parents to hide away any bit of her natural bloodlust in order to fit into society, which predictably ended when her natural bloodlust reached a boiling point, and afterwards.... there was no way back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then, in Touya’s case, while the event that finally crystalized Dabi into a new person only took an afternoon, the actual process of him going completely nuts was the result of years, and years of emotional abuse and the utter refusal of his parents to actually get him mental help. leading to his one and only emotional support being his little brother, who was way too young to either understand Touya or actually help him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
in every case, there was a point where each of these three people could have turned out differently.
In Shigaraki’s case, had anyone reached out a hand when he needed it, or if his dad hadnt been such a dick, and his family hadnt just stood by and let it happen, maybe things would have turned out differently.
in Toga’s case, when she first came home with that dead bird and her fascination with blood becoming obvious, her parents could probably have arranged some form of healthy outlet for their daughter’s lust for blood. instead they forced her to bury that bloodlust to fit in to society, leaving her with no way to actually deal with any of it, until one day she snapped.
in Touya’s case, his childhood was one, long, burning of abandonment issues, parental issues, and being raised to become something, until suddenly he wasnt good enough anymore, at which point his father literarily bred forth a third and fourth child to replace him.
it is easy to say that had Endeavor not been such a piece of shit dad, Touya might have turned out differently. this is absolutely true. but for this article, i wanted to explore the final moment of Touya Todoroki, the final real chance there was for someone to try and get him down a better path.
Tumblr media
Touya did not have a good set of parents. while Endeavor was far and away the worse of the two, his wife also suffered from her own issues, in particularly a lack of selfawareness, and an inability to put her foot down, as we’ll explore here.
Upon finding her son about to go out, Rei immediatly manages to piece out that he’s going out to train, but rather than doing the responsible thing, and forcing him to stay home if she doesnt want him to train, she instead tries cajoling with him instead, trying to make him abandon his training with words, when a strong, firm hand was what was required for the situation.
the sad thing is though, that she ALMOST suceeds.
Tumblr media
Rei genuinly asks her son the one, singular question that actually has to be asked for him to consider it. the one singular line that manages to pierce through his obsession with living up the ideal successor his father burdened him with at a young age.
its pretty clear that this isnt a question Touya has ever asked himself. and once he’s faced with it, he immediatly freezes on the spot.
rei asks him point blank if he actually WANTS this life his father has chose for him. its a powerfull moment, and frankly, if she had just handled this a bit better, Touya might have abandoned the path of a pro hero. instead, after having actually managed to pierce Touya’s shell, she immediatly ruins it.
Tumblr media
note that what rei says here, isnt about him, not really. its about rei, her perspective on it all.
“As your mother... It looks to me like youre suffocating because of who your father is, and youre suffering for it.”
nothing of this is untrue. but its NOT what Touya needs to hear after her asking him if this seriously is something he actually wants.
what Touya needed to hear in this moment, was that his mother would have his back no matter what he choses to do with his life. instead, he got a very generic speech that doesnt really hit anywhere close to the matter as her previous line is.
She focuses on how SHE feels about it all, when the entire reason the actual question hit so hard was that for once in his life, somone asked him what HE actually wanted.
and not only that, but she follows that up with something much, much worse. by being incredibly hypocritical.
Rei asks her son to look beyond his father, that there are plenty of other roads to take, and if he just tries, she’s sure he’ll find the path that is “Right” for him. note, she isnt saying here that if Touya actually decides that yeah, he wants to be a pro, even if he does decides not to try and become the number one, she’ll support him. she’s telling him that he has other options, and to abandon the path his father once upon a time put him on. that is the only “right” choice.
coming Rei however, that sentiment is incredibly hypocritical. which her son calls her out on immediatly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rei asks her son to NOT follow the path his parents set for her.... when she did the exact same thing she just told him NOT to do.
Now, i want to make this perfectly clear that im NOT blaming Rei for any of the abuse endeavor put her, or their children thorugh. that is ALL on him. however, that does not make rei a saintly parent. not to shoto, not to her second and third child, and most certainly not to her oldest Touya.
though he phraces this in a really ugly way, and he does that because he knows it will hurt, touya isnt wrong.
he spitefully calls his mother out on her having “No Choice” in wheter or not to go along with her parents selling her off as a bride for money, because that is what her parents wanted.
The fact of the matter however, is that Rei DID have a choice. that choice might very well have been between this marriage and either becoming destitute, remaining poor but still have a roof over their head, or being disinherited for refusing.
some would say that it wasnt a choice at all, and that she HAD to do this. but the fact remains, that rei COULD have refused. it wouldnt have been an easy choice, and one way or another, it WOULD have consequenses. but it was a choice nonetheless.
instead, she went along with what her parents wanted out of her. She went along with the sale, and she went along with it, knowing fully well that her new husband didnt marry her for love, for looks, for appearances sake, but exclusively for her genetics.
Tumblr media
Endeavor wanted her quirk, and that, and NO OTHER reasons, is why Touya was born.
Tumblr media
Again, Touya words this in a really ugly way, but he is not wrong in this moment. Rei DOES share some blame for putting Touya on this path, because she went into the marriage with her husband knowing fully well that this was what endeavor wanted an heir for. to surpass him. the fact that she, unintentionally or othervise, tries to give advice withouth acknowledging that fact, and that she is trying to tell him to essentially “Do the opposite of what i did” withouth a shred of selfawareness of how hypocritial that sounds, is what really gets touya so mad in this scene.
that is the great tragedy and beauty of this scene. because Rei almost does get her son to begin questioning why he even wanted the stupid number one spot anyway... Then, not really understanding that she’s at an extremely critical point, she follows the moment up by completely ruining it, and instead making her son double down on the path, in part just to spite her hypocricy.
this was her final, last chance as Touya’s mother to prevent the creation of the monster he would become, and she screwed it up. not due to not caring, but an inability to actually understand her son’s perspective, and acknowledging her own shortcomings.
Tumblr media
However, there is another layer to what happened in this scene, which is this earlier moment, which, if the order of the flashbacks is to be believed, happened before this talk with touya.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the thing is, that while the words are different, this is basically the same thing she said to her youngest son, to encourage him to become a hero on his own terms, a moment that while he later buried it, really was critical to Shoto’s decision to become a hero of his own choice.
she is essentially trying the same thing she did with her 5 year old son, just in a the opposite direction, and im honestly not sure if this is intentional similarilty regarding the arguments on her part, or just her being the same person she was in both instances.
the difference, is that touya was 12, and shoto was 5. the much older boy was able to look beyond the pretty words, and judge the person behind them in an critical manner, while the 5 year old ate the words right up, because to him, his mother was the greatest person in the world.

Azula is a monster with no chance of redemption
ok for all that time that im an atla fan I have seen a tremendous amount of opinions about azula and her decisions. i respect every viewpoint but i just wanna say that sometimes people are too cruel when it comes to her. atla is literally an animated series about what everyone even the most complete villain deserves redemption and forgiveness. but when it comes to azula, fourteen-year-old girl, this leads to the title of this article.
UM you know what? i dont think she deserves such an attitude to her. shes not a monster from children’s fairy tales that must be immediately destroyed by a brave dragon hunter. lol no. shes a live human with her own fears, complexes and feelings. i admit that she isnt the ideal loving sister or compassionate, sympathetic friend but it doesnt mean she cant improve even if someone gives her a hand. azula may not be the best person but shes still a person.
morerover, shes fourteen okay? shes a teen who was raised by an abusive, despotic father in conditions of constant competition with an older brother for the love of first ursa and then ozai. of course azula doesnt understand what a normal relationship is. shes sure that she does everything right because ‘fear is only reliable way’ worked for all her childhood. but suddenly she finds out that she cant control the entire world and this is scared and this is new reality she needs to see – she cant build a ‘normal’ familiar relationship without her royal position or power. you can observe that in the episode “the beach” when azula tries to please other teens but they don’t pay attention to her.
Tumblr media
maybe if there was someone in her world too who loved her just like that and didn’t encourage her for power and cruelty it will be different. maybe if she doesnt have to constantly fight for love and parents attention azula could become a better person.
some of you can say that azula was a monster since a childhood but how many angelic children have you seen? without any whims? and how many children who were fiend of hell have you seen? without any positive qualities? this is impossible and nobody was born absolutely ‘good’ or ‘bad’. how can anyone even suppose that four-year-old azula was the cause of zuko’s nightmares? that she never listened to fairy tales with her brother? that the first time she called zuko ‘zuzu’ wasnt when she tried to pronounce his name but couldnt pronounce the second part?
azula just needs a good advice from a person who loves her and wants to take care of her. I mean like iroh who helped zuko during all his life or like gaang aka fraternity ‘everyone-loves-everyone-here’.
azula needs help and a friendly ear to achieve redemption but all she gets is blame, disgust and the mark of a fucking monster.

There is always the idea that villains need to be punished for what they did but... when you see someone like Shigaraki, what could be more of a punishment than what he suffered? And more than that, how could the society jugde him when they are for a big part responsable of what he has become? When Shigaraki says that he can't forgive anyone, I can't help but agree: how could he forgive when nobody recognise they have wronged him, when they don't admit he is THEIR victim?
Definitely agreed, anon.
First, this role is literally forced on him by people around him.
Tumblr media
Even when he was 5 years old, he wasnt allowed to be the person he wants to be. He wanted to be a hero but his father punished him for it.
Tumblr media
After his family’s tragic death, he became a tool of manipulative, selfish man. AFO literally groomed him to be force of destruction, he made him believe that this is the only way for him.
Tumblr media
AFO literally punished Shigaraki when he cried and hold his feelings (calling him pathetic to make him feel guilty for being a disappointing is also punihsment too) and praised him when he killed people.
Tumblr media
Then, every hero and villain he met dehumanized him again and again. For everyone, Shigaraki is someone who enjoys from destruction, empty, cruel guy, he is not even a person. Again and again, Shigaraki is not allowed to be his own person.
Heroes dont listen to him cause Shigaraki has to be bad guy so that heroes can be good guys. If Shigaraki is monster, they can justify their violence. This is how villains are treated in society. And Shigaraki is one of the biggest examples of it. Even though, heroes have many proofs to believe that Shigaraki is victim.
Tumblr media
Everyone around Shigaraki already decided the role Shigaraki play for him, his life, his narrative is always controlled by others. He himself even believes that he is monster cause everyone around him says so.
Tumblr media
Not only this role forced on him but also his biggest motivation and desire literally relate to what happened to him.
Tumblr media
Shigaraki’s biggest motivation is comes from his pain, death of his family, like how he will never feel okay. This is why he is doing what he is doing cause he literally have no idea how to handle his pain.
Tumblr media
Shigaraki’s life is full of pain. He was traumatized againd and again. He was groomed in very unstable and dangerous environment. Treated as monster that needs to be destroyed. When he finally a little far away from his abuser AFO, he still did what he wants him to do and eventually came back to him to surgery, he almost loose his humanity and his will.
Tumblr media
And Shigaraki’s biggest desire is freedom cause his life and his choices taken away from him. Shigaraki again and again chose freedom cause he doesnt want the role everyone forced on him. He feels trapped and full of anger cause he is completely not okay with his current life.
Shigaraki is trapped in cycle of abuse.
Step 1;
Tumblr media
He holds his negative feelings inside of him, until he reaches his breaking point. He hold himself cause he hasnt taught how to handle those emotions healthy way.
Step 2;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He reaches his breaking point and lashing his feeling out to other people. Killing them, harming them, destroy things etc. He is lashing out cause thats how he has been taught. After lashing out, he somehow reliefs a little and feel empty.
Step 3;
Tumblr media
After remember what he did to others, he feels exteremely guilty and starts punishing himself. He is harming himself, thats the way of Shigaraki punishing himself. Punishment is always part of Shigaraki’s character.
Step 4;
Tumblr media
Harming himself eventually led him to feel unfair and he starts to feel angry again, he hold those feelings so basically we returned back to step 1, again.
Shigaraki is literally trapped with this cycle and cant get rid of it. This is why he almost always contracting with himself.
First, someone/something hurts him and Shigaraki fights back,
Tumblr media
he fights back to get rid of this cycle cause he wants this pain to be over. He wants freedom thats why he rejects giving his will to AFO, this is why he get rid of hands.
Tumblr media
But eventually, he still thanking AFO, doing what he wants
Tumblr media
and taking hands with him again cause he doesnt believe he deserves freedom.
Basically, Shigaraki wants freedom, he wants to be saved but he cant fight for his freedom cause he himself believes he doesnt deserves to be saved, to feel okay. This is the biggest proof of that he feels exteremly guilty from what he did/does.
Tumblr media
He literally escapes from cage to another cage, in this picture.
Shigaraki is trying to escape from his cage but he doesnt believe he deserves to feel good, this is why he turns back to the cage. Thats the reason he accept the surgery of Ujiko. So basically, his mindset is already like a prison and it harms him a lot. And as long as he believes he doesnt deserve anytihng good, he cant get out that prison. But Shigaraki feels guilty, this is why he believes that. Shigaraki doesnt even see himself as victim cause noone else does.
This is why Shigaraki cant get out of this cycle, this prison and this is why it so important that someone reaching out to him. He is a victim, a person and he needs to be seen as like that by someone.
Tumblr media
And Shigaraki’s story is all about how different his life would be, if only someone reach out to him. Again and again, theme of his story is there were people who could’ve helped him but they still didnt do anything for him. Shigaraki can be saved but everyone already believes that he is irredemable, they wont even try to reach out to him.
Tumblr media
How can Shigaraki forgive those people when they constantly turned a blind eye to him?
Tumblr media
Even when Shigaraki show his true face to them, trying to talk and reach out to them, they still ignored him. Shigaraki is trying to explain himself to heroes cause he still waits for heroes to save him in his deep.
Tumblr media
The biggest proof of that there is a hope for Shigaraki is that despite his background, the way he treats league and he tries to break this cycle. The way Shigaraki treats his comprades literally turned league to found family for people like them. Shigaraki was raised to destroy but he is the reason that people in league are slowly healing from their trauma. He also fight against the unfair society that let them fall at first place.
Tumblr media
Shigaraki is blowback of society. Though, AFO would kidnap Shigaraki anyway but he is still failure of heroes. If Allmight didnt make society ignorance, people wouldnt ignore Shigaraki. If society was designed to rehabilite villains, then they would understand his victim and try to reach out to him. They could’ve do that easily in USJ arc. If Nana never abandoned his son or Gran Torino and Allmight tried to check him out, AFO wouldnt capture Tenko. etc etc etc. Society and heroes failed Shigaraki and let him fall from the cracks of society
If Shigaraki is victim of society, heroes, then, society, heroes should take responsibilty for the victims, not just destroying them.
Tumblr media
And Shigaraki isnt just blowback of society, his actions also waking people up. Story made it clear, society is not good the way it is and heroes dont even try to change it. Yeah, destruction isnt really solution and murder is bad but at least, Shigaraki’s actions will change things. Society wil start to change for better cause Shigaraki, the shadow of society is calling them out.
And again;
Tumblr media
if society is the one who is responsible for Shigaraki became who he is, then how they can have a right to not forgive him?
(Though, Deku doesnt really know things here but hope, he will eventually understand.)
Tumblr media
The one who made a choice wasnt really Shigaraki, it was people around him. First, he was outcasted and became their victim. Then, they forced a role for him. When he played his role, they punished him for it. Shigaraki was put in an impossible sitution and he was expected to handle that sitution. Who is the one really at fault here?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everyone blames Shigaraki cause thats easiest way. Even though, Shigaraki didnt have much choices in his life but somehow its still his fault and the ones who could’ve helped him, the one who can help him chose to not help have a right to not forgive him.
So basically;
1-
Tumblr media
Society and heroes already failed Shigaraki and directly responsible from his fall. There is something they could do, there is something they still can do about Shigaraki but they constantly choosing to dehumanize him.
2-
Tumblr media
Shigaraki constantly fights against the people who dehumanize him for his humanity. At least, he is doing his best cause he doesnt want to stay like this.
3-
Tumblr media
He is trying to change things to break this broken cycle, both for himself and in his deep, society can be better place for people like him, victims, outcasts.
3-
Tumblr media
There is no point of killing Shigaraki since society creates its own villains, then they would create another Shigaraki anyway.
4-
Tumblr media
Shigaraki already feels exteremely guilty from what he does. (This is the reason he is so suicidal cause he sees no worth about his life.)
5-
Tumblr media
Shigaraki’ s life is full of pain and trauma. He is already treated as monster in his current sitution.
So whats the point of killing him or sending him the place like Tartarus? When society is the one responsible for him the way he is? When he already feels guilty? When he already live his life like a prisoner? When he already have a life full of pain and treated as thing? There is literally no point here.
So what i am hoping is in the end;
Tumblr media
He should live cause he deserves to healing and living his life as an invidual. He should be in a place more like mental hospital cause he has severe mental illness and he definitely needs help. He also needs/deserves to live in healthy environment so he can finally heal. Even in the end, if he stays in prison, prison should be pretty human place. It would be better, if he is with with league cause those people are healing when they are together.
Though, i still hate the idea of him being in prison, even though he killed many people cause his life is already like a prison but i dont know author would do that.
Tumblr media
Also, i also believe that more than Shigaraki, society is the one that owes him apology, not really other way around. Since he is their victim. Though he is really kind and forgiving person in deep, he might forgive them but i dont want what happenned to him to be ignored so i truly hope heroes, society, story pays him well cause its just so sad and unfair. He deserves better.
Tumblr media
Also, i truly believe Shigaraki can help Deku and heroes a lot about outcasts since he can reach out to people who wasnt saved by heroes. So if they work together, Deku can be a hero who saves everyone and Shigaraki’s dream of becoming hero can happen since he is helping outcasts. Also this can be another a way of paying his crimes too.
Shigaraki would willing to do this cause all he wants is better society, just like Deku, in his deep. And also his biggest desire is to be an invidual. To be the person who he wants to be. He still wants to be a hero cause in his deep, he cares about greater good too.
Tumblr media
Shigaraki is always a character who is meant to be saved and there is a reason that he is parallel with Deku. I hope he also gets the happy ending he truly deserves. We will see. It kinda became messy post cause i am kinda tired. Well, just my opinions, :))).

so... i’ve seen a lot of fanart and meta talking about adora having this subversive arc learning to be selfish, and i can’t really agree.
i get the desire for that, but that is... not what happens. she has a typical insecure hero arc, it just comes with a reward attached. catra nominally acts like adora shouldn’t have to do this, but nothing really comes of that.
adora a) does the selfless hero thing, and b) it’s the right thing to do, with no negative consequences. she survives, gets her cake and eats it too... and that’s a narrative reward for being selfless. she still has to do the hero thing, or everyone dies. it’s more a reminder that other people care about her than any internal arc about selfishness.
what it reminds me of more than anything is when moana’s grandma reminds her that she shouldn’t be under so much pressure. that, too, is not an arc about selfishness. it’s just a small reminder to the kiddos at home that they matter.
and that’s fine! it’s a good message. but it’s not an an elaborate theme. moana still  has to be the selfless hero, or, well, everyone dies, so she can’t choose differently - they would never dare show that. like adora, she doubts herself and can be self-sacrificing, but nothing comes of it. she’s rewarded for being selfless, because being a hero just leads to things... working out. it’s what both needed to be, while being vaguely reminded of their own feelings along the way.
it just feels like a theme because they say it several times, but it does nothing to challenge the typical hero narrative. adora never makes a choice to be selfish, nor is that portrayed as something she should do. adora doing the hero thing is... necessary and praised, in the end. she fixes everything, carrying catra like a prize. it’s sad that it makes her feel pressured, but just kinda sad. not sad enough to change the story. she-ra just activates in time so she can survive, yay for her - but that is, narratively speaking, still rewarding heroic self-sacrifice.
the only modern animation i can think of that actually show and organically build selfishness as a virtue (and selflessness as a double-edged sword with consequences both for yourself and others) is still steven universe, sorry. especially pearl and steven’s arcs. because they’re not just reminders that “you matter, too!” in such a shallow way.
their self-sacrificing actually tears on their psyche in toxic ways and has negative consequences. it is something that needs to end in order for things to get better for them and the world. their dismissal of their own emotions and romanticizing yourself as a hero are actual character flaws, developed over time in ways that leads them to some truly horrifying places when they have their own agency. that needs to be addressed in order for them to grow.
pearl spreads her toxic selflessness to others and only becomes her best self when she starts living for herself, and steven putting himself on such a high pedestal to “fix” everyone both literally and symbolically turn him into a monster. he had to leave - even when others wants him to stay - in order to work on himself, both freeing himself from the toxic purpose of being everyone’s savior and freeing others from depending on him.
that’s selfishness as a value. those are characters who, to me, not only struggle to care about themselves, but where that actually manifests in a character arc.
it’s a consistent theme in SU - not only affecting the ego, but forcing you to confront the terrifying question of who you are without selfless purpose, which may frighten you, because no authority exists to give you a destiny (hey parallel to literally every gem!). everyone from white diamond to jasper are “at their worst” when they think they’re being completely selfless. not because a meaningless life of selfishness is a perfect solution, but because you have to care about yourself. the community has to mutually look out for one another. we can’t put anyone on a pedestal of heroism - that’s what steven and white have in common. it’s scary to live without that selfless purpose, but it’s necessary.
they basically have to face the absurd and live with it. adora never has to do any of that, she just gets a kitty gf reward for being a hero.
i’m not saying this because i think adora is a bad character or inherently lesser, but i think her arc just... isn’t about selfishness. i think it’s a story of an insecure hero - like moana - who it’s nice to remind that they matter, but that’s all it is. a nice little reminder, in the middle of a fairly conventional hero story. they get to have a happy ending because they’re selflessly heroic, and the proposed negative consequencs of that heroism never manifests. it’s fine.
it’s just not as subversive as i would personally like, but... i don’t think spop was designed to really be subversive or challenging. not everything is. i think it was designed to have its hero acknowledge her own feelings, sure, but it’s first and foremost a power fantasy space adventure with feels and lesbians. and that’s fine. that’s all it needs to be! i don’t say this as a criticism exactly, i say it because i don’t want us to have such a shallow conception of selfishness.
i’ll confess i’m generally not a fan of spop’s plot, but i do like the characters. i’m also amazed the most generic sci-fi bad guy in the history of generic sci-fi bad guys doing a very basic "u should conform" thing is seen by some as The Most Biting Critique of Homophobia Ever, as if "break free from the machiNE" wasn’t a literal apple commercial.
but i digress - i do like adora. i just don’t think the plot is about her “learning to be selfish.” wrong hordak is closer to that, but his existential crisis is more of a background gag, so that doesn’t count. it just leads to where it’s most convenient for it to lead; being over in ten seconds and resulting in being angry with those who hurt you, who only seem to exist for you to Stand Up to Them (tm). spop in general really likes enabling the power fantasy of being better and stronger than those who hurt you, without always earning it. but, again, i digress.
i think my issue is that spop is "deep" for people who think everything they relate to is deep. it’s a cookie-cutter story told in a typical way, it just has insecure lesbians in it. it’s... fine. it’s a marvel movie with feels, but you’re allowed to relate to that. it doesnt have a consistent philosophy or interrogate its own positions on themes like abuse or repression in novel ways, but it doesn’t need to. it just does the insecure hero vs antihero thing in an okay way.
catra is your basic cassandra zuko AMEM (abused manipulated edgy minion) character who gets help because she’s sad and isn’t “as bad” as the main villain. that’s also fine. i don’t love the execution, i wish it didn’t result in suddenly declawing her personality and stripping her of all need for agency, but whatever. she’s also rewarded for being selfless, not selfish, btw.
i actually do like spop. it’s messy and the plot is thinner than the fandom would ever admit, but, well... it’s still fine. in fact, i think it’s IMPORTANT that lgbt+ people have more basic self-empowerment stories that aren’t as challenging or, frankly, as messed up as your utenas or stephen’s universities. kinda like how every minority story doesn’t need to be “deep”, sometimes you just need to turn crazy rich asians on and have fun with it.
i just want to embrace it for what it is, not what the fandom acts like it is. that’s all.

i really hate when people say that azula shouldnt get a redemption arc. like i get that not every villain or bad guy deserves one, but azula absolutely does.
before i get into it, it want to say that im not very good at putting my thoughts into words, so i apologize if any of this is hard to understand or is worded poorly. its not completely cohesive or coherent but i just really need to get my thoughts out.
there are a few things that are vital to remember about azula: shes fourteen, shes a victim of abuse and shes mentally ill in a way that is very frequently demonized.
im not saying that these things excuse any of her actions. they dont but these things provide important context as to why she does what she does. shes still under the thumb of her abusive father and shes only fourteen.
ever since azula was very young she’s had to deal with both ozai and ursas abuse. ursa openly disliked, maybe even hated, azula. theres one particular scene in zuko alone where ursa says “what is wrong with that child” within azulas earshot, as azula is running past her and that might not seem like a lot but as someone who has had to deal with similar things its fucking awful and i struggle to believe that thats the only time something like that happened. its obvious that ursa cares more for zuko than azula, and its obvious that iroh(more on him later) also cares more for zuko.
the only adult that azula has is ozai, so it makes sense that she wants to be exactly what he wants her to be. she does what he wants and acts how he wants her to act. theres a lot more than can be said about azula and ozai but im not going to because its not necessarily important to whether or not azula deserves a redemption (thats not to say that its unimportant to azula and her character, its obviously extremely important, its just not necessary to get into all the details for this particular discussion) and i found that trying to write in depth about this i was unable to say anything i was really happy with. other people can and probably have written about this better than i can.
so azula has never been able to come out from under the influence of ozai. she only has him to look up to.
why doesnt she deserve redemption? what is it about azula that makes people think that she shouldnt be able to learn and grow and become a better, happier person?
now im gonna talk about iroh a bit. iroh was a general for presumably a while. he literally laid siege to ba sing se for 400 days and didnt stop until lu ten died. he is a war criminal as an adult. as an adult who is old enough to have a son who is in the military. he killed so many people and didnt stop to consider that hmm maybe this is a bad thing until someone close to him died. and like yea, thats horrible. its a horrible thing to lose someone close to you but hes activley caused the death of hundreds.
so why do we forgive iroh? to me, hes done worse things than azula. yes, azula conquered ba sing se but she didnt lay siege to it for over a year and he did this as an adult.
well, we forgive iroh because the show has forgiven him. whats more is that the show puts iroh on a moral high ground. iroh is always made out to be right and he hates azula.
he never even put in the effort to get to know her (as seen by the fact that he gifts her a doll, which she proceeds to set on fire because its obviously a ‘well i guess i should probably get you a gift too. what do girls like? dolls?’ kind of gift’ while he gives zuko something he actually likes).
azula is in a situation that is while different from zukos, is also very similar, and iroh treats her like a villain for it while he only supported zuko. dont get me wrong, what he did for zuko is extremely good. he did a good thing supporting him because he desperately needed that, but azula also needed it and what does iroh do for her? he calls her crazy and says that she “needs to go down.”
this isnt me saying that you should hate iroh. hes important to the story, does good things for zuko and is interesting (though hed be much more interesting if the show actually acknowledged his flaws instead of making him the moral authority of the show -_-). its just kind of fucked up how people treat iroh vs how they treat azula.
iroh gets paired with the phrase ‘make tea not war’ (a complete mischaracterization. my hatred for this phrase is unending.) and is treated as some wise old man. azula is routinely called a psychopath. and i get that the show displays iroh as good and azula as bad, but we do also get to see azula in a sympathetic light at the end.
im not saying that the last scene with azula is perfect, but it shows azula as a young girl who is suffering. whats going on is a tragedy. the music is telling us that and then we see her sobbing and losing control after katara has beaten her. i dont like that this is the last we see of her, but i do like the scene because, at least to me, it shows that azula is sympathetic (though she shouldnt have to have a public breakdown to be sympathetic but thats something else) and that shes just a kid in a really shitty position but apparently people miss this. apparently people watch the agni kai scene with its sad music that culminates in a child weeping and still think that azula is an irredeemable monster.
and even if the show didnt show azula as sympathetic to some degree she still shouldnt be treated the way she is by the fandom.
azula is psychotic (said in the actual use of the word and not in the ableist ‘oh she fucking evil’ kind of way. also said as someone who is psychotic). she hallucinates and has delusions and intense paranoia on screen. psychosis is extremely demonized.
to me its kind of obvious that a lot of the ‘azula doesnt deserve a redemption’ argument is ableist. people will see an abused, mentally ill child and think that shes worse than her war criminal uncle. if you think that azula doesnt deserve redemption please think about why you think that. think about why you dont want her to get the chance to grow and become a better person and to eventually be happy. i dont care if she makes a good and interesting villain, that doesnt mean she doesnt deserve redemption. zuko was also an interesting villain but he got a redemption and stayed a good and interesting character.
anyways to end this: let characters with “scary” mental illnesses have the opportunity to grow and change and live happy lives.

Hey so I found u thru the Halved Live Funnies and I gotta ask... whose Leon? What series these dudes from?
i got this ask and then forgot about it for like 2 days. anyways.
IVE ANSWERED THIS BEFORE BUT. GOD. LEON. ok so like....... long story short last year was when i first played resident evil........ bc we got a copy of re2remake in and.... jesus christ. i hyperfixated so fucking hard for the better part of a year going on into this year. and then i watched hl/vr and well. we know where that went. but now i am once again hyperfixated and now im back to where i was in like.... june of last year LMAO. but anyways i am once again going to ramble under the cut about them <3 (seriously. its very long and doesnt go much of anywhere. also spoilers)
tl/dr:
Tumblr media
OK. SO. resident evil. the last time i answered this ask i either hadnt played some of them or just completely forgot the plot of others LOL but now upon beating/playing a large majority of them (besides 6 which i have not touched yet, and 7 is first person and im not rly interested in it rn)...... well others have said this as well but if you like cheesy b action movies you would love resident evil!!!
the orig 1-2 are more survival horror which is what i like the most. 3 is where it starts branching into more actiony stuff but is still survival horror. but 4 and after is just like..... cheesy action stuff which is fine but not really like.... my thing. altho i do think that they are fun in a “this plot is hilariously bad” type way because i do enjoy horrible things. but people who like resident evil dont like it for the plot they like it for the characters. and for me i latched the fuck onto leon kennedy and tyrant t-00 aka mr fucking x
listen.......... you guys know me relatively well enough to know that i have a type......... and i would define leon as not really fitting under it usually because he is 1. under 6 foot 2. human and 3. very much not a villain. but something about (mostly remake) leon hits fucking different!!!!!! hes kind and means well, thinks about others constantly, looks like an actual fucking person in the in game graphics instead of being some manufactured perfect model, nice voice, etc....... i fucking care him so much. also gameplay wise i find his weapons to be more enjoyable than claires so i always end up playing his route/2nd route the most compared to hers. but i do also like claire :) shes nice and epic
i dont really like the newer leons (4 and afterwards) as much.... i mean a lot of it has to do with trauma and general “growing up” after what happened in re2 but hes just so constantly... snarky? jaded? constantly spouting lines to make him seem cool? when in my head hes very much like... a loser LMAO. i mean dont get me wrong hes a badass. he survives a fucking zombie outbreak and nearly gets murdered dozens of time. thats the definition of badass. but also you cannot change my mind that hes also a anxious loser twunk. there is literally nothing you can do to convince me he is “cool” like the games and movies want to think. this is probably heresy to re fans but this is my truth
https://youtu.be/aVZWuSfGStk?t=129
here is a vid of his cutscenes. obvious spoilers in there but you can skip around and see how cute he is. also yes in his first cutscene he is listening to butt rock. i switch between thinking hes just listening to it because nothing else is on the radio or his taste really is that terrible
also you literally CANNOT convince me that he is straight. the games try SOOOOO hard to get you to ship leon/ada or leon/claire but like...... i cannot see it. he has one of the gayest run animations i have ever seen in re2 remake and i mean... he just radiates gay trans man energy to me. also please look at this small scene from one of the animated movies where a licker jumps on top of him and he wraps his legs around its hips and lifts it off of him to not die. gay king
https://youtu.be/d-VNikxYBPw?t=9
but yes ive basically decided to ignore all characterization from re4 and onwards regarding leon at least. every leon after that is not my leon (except in special cases when im thinking about something like leon/jd from re damnation..... they did jd so dirty and they should have fucking kissed. or how cute he looked in vendetta sometimes)
ANYWAYS. MR X
so basically there are these enemies in resident evil called “tyrants” that are manufactured by the evil capitalist company umbrella that are near indestructible save for like.... rocket launchers or super heavy artillery that youre not buying at your local gun store. and in re2 one of them get sent to the police station where leon and claire are and is told to wipe out all witnesses. (i also do think that 2 or more were sent there... or at least in the area when this happened due to some very obvious plot hole stuff on each route no matter how you play, even tho the devs have come out and said that only 1 existed in the game and that each route is like “a parallel dimension” to each other. i wont go into it more than that but i choose to ignore that)
and well. when i first played it i knew of mr x but didnt like... know much about him other than that he was a monster and Tall (like 7 or 8 feet tall) and that he chased you around. that already sold me on him but then. well. you first encounter him because he lifts up an entire goddamn helicopter and then proceeds to chase you. and it was then that i knew i was in deep shit because he fucking stomped his way into my heart and never left.
mr x basically has serious Side Character Disorder where (even tho the remake made him very cool and epic and did him really well compared to nemesis in re3 remake which is an entire different can of worms) he has LITERALLY no personality or like. thoughts. or anything. hes only there to chase you around and be on screen for like 10 seconds for a couple of cutscenes and then not show up again until the very end of the game for you to fight on leons route. but god. he means so fucking much to me.
you know how people latch onto random side characters that have no personality and essentially flesh them out more than the creators ever will? thats me with mr x. its gotten to the point where certain songs come on on my spotify and i actually get EMOTIONS or even TEARS because they remind me of him, but its not even really HIM, its the fucking ideas that ive come up with regarding him because all he ever does in game is chase you around and punch you and then die and is never brought up again
but anyways. mr x is a tall monster who chases leon and claire around in their routes but mr x is leons main monster in the game (claire has a different one). he chases leon around, literally never stops looking at him as he chases him, gets hit by an entire fucking car which then explodes BUT THEN chases him down into the sewers and into a secret underground lab just to get to him like a fucking bloodhound who, once he has the scent, will never stop chasing him
(you can see why this made me kind of insane)
just. AGHHH. the tyrants in this series get treated so dirty. i desperately want capcom to give us some sort of tyrant that can actually fucking like.... go against orders and brainwashing or whatever and actually have emotions and thoughts!!!!!!!!!! but capcom would never do anything with it cause its a rough and tough action series and people arent here to see tyrants have some sort of thought process beyond punching and killing and people only want to shoot guns at them instead of thinking about the possibilities of a tyrant that goes against its programming.
i so desperately want an au where mr x got the transmitter shot off of the side of his head (and while capcom never mentioned this ever many re2 fans have since decided that it is what feeds info/orders to him. i flip flop between thinking that it either is near controlling him and prevents free will and thought or that its just giving him orders and that hes just burying/hiding/not showing free will and thought in fear of being killed. either that or someone at umbrella is “piloting” him but also the whole point of tyrants is that theyre supposed to be smart enough to think for themselves somewhat so... eh). GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!
ive explained a bunch of this stuff in my other ask about it but just...... xleon means so much to me when it should not and will never be actually canon
anyways please play re2 remake at least, you dont have to know everything about re1 to like it, just go into it knowing that a few months ago in the mountains outside raccoon city claires brother chris and a few members on his team went to a mansion where they discovered umbrella doing shady zombie shit there. re2 remake was hyped up for years for a reason and it is really good, even if its short (altho i do appreciate short games in this day and age cause not every game needs to be like 60 plus hours long).
maybe one day when its not late and i can actually think i will explain all this better but todays not that day <3
(EDIT: ALSO RE DAMNATION TYRANTS ARE 14 FEET TALL. AND CHASE AROUND LEON AND ACTUALLY FUCKING RUN. FUN FACT! anyways while i do think jd in that movie and leon should kiss i also want leon and a tyrant from that movie to kiss. bye)

Underapreciated Yang Fact
Yang is by far my favorite character in RWBY (Yang stan till the day i die) but something i really Love about her is something i dont think anyone has ever Really discussed so far. So i am going to Talk about it.
The fact that Yang is Not a villain.
Okay i can understand why that may doesnt seem all that great to you or just confuses you maybe so Let me explain. And I ask of you to Take a Moment of your Time and Read the Post completely so you understand my opinion and dont Make any forgone conclusions.
It is painfully obvious that Yang has been through quite a Lot over the course of the series. Abandonment, mutiliation, PTSD and the list goes on.
In fact it is easy to View the series and EXPECT her to turn evil.
In fact it would fit the trope of the older sibling going evil and the younger sibling who is the "protagonist" Holding on to Hope and having to Stop them.
From the very Moment we found out that Yang is Rubys sister some could have ended up Thinking Yang will be her sisters final boss.
Going along with that something that we often get confronted with in Media is the idea that evil is Made. That the Most horrible People have Been put through the Most horrible acts. And the character of the "tortured badass" is so common at this point it is sort of what de have grown to expect when a character, especially One who started out Kind and loving, is put through suffering. How many times have there Been examples in fiction where a character has suffered and uses this suffering as an excuse for their own evil?
Something that goes Hand in Hand with that is the character being dissapointed or betrayed in a way by people they love.
It is very easy to view RWBY and come to the conclusion that Yang has Been failed by everyone and Everything she ever counted on and cared about.
Her birthmother Raven abandoned her at birth.
Qrow is a drunk shell of a huntsman who likely has rarely Been there for her.
Summer the only real mother figure in her life died and left her, not volunteraily but it still happened.
Taiyang became secluded and in his depression Left Yang to become a mother figure while still being a Child herself.
Ruby her sister who she raised abandoned her in Patch while going out and chasing some villain.
Weiss A treasured friend was just taken away.
Blake her Love interest (Deal with it haters) pretty much abandoned her After she received the biggest defeat of her life.
The law and state itself failed her through Ironwood and believing her to be guilty of attacking an Innocent boy.
Ozpins war affected Yang the Most out of all of Team RWBY and she Made it clear that she has no Trust left for her headmaster.
This is in some cases heavily oversimplified, for example that the reason Blake left we're more complicated, but at its core...
Every Authority figure failed Yang.
Everyone she loved failed Yang.
The World failed Yang.
With this Setup it would have Been very easy to turn Yang into a villain.
All that was needed was One last Step to have her get a Start of darkness. It would have perfectly fit with the cliche of every Bad person being Hurt and Been even somewhat believable with the requirements.
But IT DOESNT HAPPEN.
Yangs entire existence completely defies the trope that suffering makes a person evil.
Look at all the villains who Take something that happened to them as a excuse to Make others suffer.
One of the biggest examples would be The Joker from DC whos Core philosophy in 'the killing joke' is all it takes is One Bad day to turn any man and woman into monsters. He tries to prove it in said story with gordon and the series Injustice is all but build on proving the Joker right with the seemingly incoruptable SUPERMAN turning into a tyrannical dictator and using what the Joker did to him as an excuse for all the suffering he causes.
Yang basically looks ALL of them in the eye and tells them: "Youre full of shit!"
Yang proves that People like Joker are WRONG.
In the end being evil is a Choice!
No One forced Superman to kill an entire Planet.
People using their suffering as an excuse to harm others are just Bad people. Thats it! No tearful backstory justifies that kid you bullied til he cried, the Innocent cop you gunned down or that civilization you massacred!
Being Evil is a Choice weakwilled People Make because they cant Deal with shit happening to them.
But Not Yang.
Yang is the example of a character starring into the abyss and forcing the abyss to run back where it came from. She choses to Not Let what happened to her define her. She makes the Choice to Not become a Monster and to Not Let her pain out on others.
She immediatly hugs Ruby and tells her she loves her as Ruby stutters out panicked excuses.
She never blames Blake for losing her arm and has the heart to accept her back in her life.
None of these things would have Been done by weakerminded characters like injustice!superman.
Because the idea of evil makes you evil is an pathetic excuse People Make to Not feel like they are doing anything wrong.
It is also why i believe Yang in particular has so many haters. Those haters are likely people who have Been through MUCH less than PTSD and loss of limb. Yet whatever happened to them they use as an excuse to be assholes in real Life. Thats why they hate Yang. They can Not Deal with the fact that there is someone SO MUCH BETTER THAN THEM. They want her to be as pathetic as they are because than they dont have to feel like what they do is wrong. Yangs very existence violates that idea and they cant stand it!
If you hate Yang (in which Case why are you Reading this i publish this in the Yang tag) youre Most likely an asshole who cant accept that Yang is capable of being a good person.
Yang is just so much better than Most of us are in real Life. I am completely okay with admitting that she is a better person than me. I dont Think i would be capable of even half of the Things she did.
Yang is the Kind of character i Aspire to be. And if everyone would feel the same than Maybe this World wouldnt be this fucked up.
Yang is One gigantic example of just why that entire trope is bullshit. Another reason as to why I believe it is so meaningful she is the One to bring Adam down with Blake.
Adam is this trope to an Extreme. He makes the World suffer for what it did to him. And his Fans obviously latch on to that. They use the Brand as an excuse as to why he can be allowed to do all the Bad things. That is also why so many Adam stans hate Yang (One of many stupid reasons). They See Yang and See that she is better than Adam in any possible way and LOATHE that.
Yang DESTROYS this overrated trope.
And its One of the many reasons why i stan this woman till the day i die.

Ok so, my thoughts on the VR ending and VR overall as the 6th entry.
Also because most of my thoughts aren't...complimentary im editing the names so they dont appear in the general tag. This also got LONG so readmore.
The Good:
- A//i's character still managed to be the one thing that saves VR as a show for me. Even with all the weird...contradictory plot issues, A//i still manages to be a compelling character who brings up the question of the right to live. I actually do like how he made it so itd be an ultimatum that he loses in either way, even if the ending kinda ruins the weight behind the action (which I will get to in a bit).
The meh:
-the ending was left somewhat open to interpretation which for a show as...empty as this was works out but honestly it was so vague as to A//is fate is that it may as well not exist.
The Bad:
-The main conflict behind the entire show is...simulations. No joke. Every conflict in the show can be traced back to someone doing a simulation and deciding to lose it. Even if they gave the (rather stupid) explanation that AI experience simulations like actual life (which btw the first villain wasnt an AI so this reason doesnt work), the fact that Yu//sa//ku took a bullet for one of A//is robot bodies that he literally has millions of is...just stupid and there solely for the "uwu drama".
-They actually killed A//i off but wait hes actually alive, so like the final duel literally had no purpose aside from...drama??? The episode is called Compromise and yet A//i had to lose just to keep Yu//sa///kus win streak and theres no compromise whatsoever. Yu//sa//ku litetally destroys the CompromA.I.se card so its just, no comrpomise in any way.
-This....wasn't a happy ending??? I have no idea why both the show and the fanbase frame this as a happy ending bc think about it in context: A//i pretty much loses everything, so does Yu//sa//ku who just isolated himself from everyone else for 3 months in order to comb the network for whatever remnants of A//i exist.
- So many of the supporting characters are just...there. Like, there is no side/supporting character who actually has a character arc in this show. Lets go through the list: Ao//i is pretty much the same character as when she started and goes through 2 unnecessary costume changes for a character growth that isnt there because she has literally ONE victory against an opponent that was stated multiple times to be weak and faulty and have her lose and tortured multiple times for no reason whatsoever, G//o had this weird deterioration that may have lead to something but ultimately didn't, Ak//ira is pretty much the same, J//in has ALL HIS TRAUMA ERASED SO THERES THAT, literally the only side characters who have some sembalnce of an arc are Sho//ichi (the best one anyways) from his "betrayal" in S2, and E//ma with her reconciliation with her brother. Outside of that, nothing. Yu//sa//ku, Re//volv//er and Ho//mu//ra are pretty much the only characters with an arc and even then they're not too solid? Which brings me to-
- Yu//sa//ku has been so wildly ooc since the end of S1. Ive seen so many say that his enphasis on bonds and friendship are character growth but actually looking at the sequence of events he suddenly just like. changes completely around his first duel with Ea//rth. Plus, the message of "revenge is good" was always so weird? Like, he got his revenge so all his trauma is ok now and never brought up or explored again aside from within the first 20 episodes. Theres nothing about it after that and its never built upon. The whole point of a revenge arc is to show that its BAD and yet he starts preaching that revenge is wrong AFTER he successfully gets revenge??? And even then its not exactly a revenge as it is more lashing out since it was Ko//ga//mi who was behind it all. Yu//sa/ku was definitely at his strongest characterization in S1 where we see how badly the Lo//st Incid//ent hurt him but S1 had its own share of problems that led into S2 and so many random plot threads that never went anywhere (such as the Anot//her Incid//ents, the Cy//berse deck being irl despite that A//i didnt have a physical body before then, The Bl//ue Mai//den meetup that was repeated by Nao//ki like 10 times in S2 which seemed to be leading up to something but never did, and the fact that theres 4 recap episodes in S1 already spelled some early problems). So much of the supporting cast function to just say "he turned this whole situation around...with ONE card..." i kid you not watch back every Yu//sa//ku duel I GUARANTEE you'll see someone saying hes a great duelist and serve only that purpose. ALSO THE END OF THE SHOW IS JUST MORE DRAMA?? They make him suffer for no reason other than that they can??? What purpose does his suffering at the end serve aside from just "uwu...poor baby..."???
-Re//volv//er is not a good rival. At all. He's so incredibly bland because much like Yu//sa//ku he was at his strongest characterization in S1 where he actually had some solid motivation in continuing his fathers work and being unable to accept that his dad was evil, yet most of that just flies out the window with all the collateral he's willing to inflict with the K//O//H?? All his character amounts too post S1 is "yeah i told you robots are evil and YOU didnt believe me". The most we got of him growing out of this mindset was calling A//i by his name exactly one time and nothing ever again. Also the fact that in the end we see him and his crew working for S//O//L despite the fact that they were gonna turn themselves in for their crimes just. leaves a rotten taste in my mouth. hes not a good rival at all. All he proves to me is that a good design can get anyone to like a character.
- Ho//mu//ra is...there. I literally cant say anything about him because he absolutely has the strongest motivations of the three but then the show jumps through hoops to push him to the back of the other two. He also has a bunch of early victories I do feel are undeserved (ESPECIALLY the A//oi duel that one pissed me off so much). Also the fact that the show just made him Yu//sa//kus friend immediately whereas it took Sho//ichi several months to get Yu//sa//ku to warm up to him just had me :/.
-The speed duels were a cool concept but they just became these huge cheat fests? Seriously Play//Maker uses StAccess literally every speed duel to pull out a new monster from whatever plot holes the writers need to patch up. I am not kidding. You can go back to every single speed duel Yu//sa//ku was in and youll see this. Skills just werent a good mechanic because when a protag pulls a new card its supposed to be representative of some growth/characterization but he stays the same pretty much throughout the entire show up until S2 where he wildly just switches personality. Plus the fact that Que//en could literally use a skill whenever just shows that it was cheating???
- The villains were overall lackluster. Boh//man was the best because Re//volv//er is just flat whereas A//i struck me more as an anti hero. And again: simulations are the enemy. Light//ning ran one and decided to go ham. Kog//ami ran one and decided to go ham. A//i ran one and decided to go ham. The conflicts are all the same and it just makes things happen rather than following a consistent plot thread? I will say that Boh//mans characterization of a hive mind to become perfect does strike my tastes but thats more my personal preference in villains rather than any merit he has.
- This is a bit of a personal pet peeve but I've seen some of the praise to this show about being the "darkest Y//G//O to date so therefore its good" and im just...no? Edge does not make a good show and just because they lightly focused on the tragedy in Yu//sa//kus life (and it IS lightly because its barely touched upon after mid S1) most of the stuff that happens in this show is pretty tame in comparison? The most that happened here was an attempted global hack of everyones minds from S2 and destroying the internet in S1, with a few references to the torture that happened during the Lo//st incid//ent. To compare: the previous series had this huge interdimensional war that, even if they could reverse the carding of people (which makes Den//nis' attempted suicide even more tragic), ended with an entire dimensions full of brainwashed soldier children, a dimension with huge class inequality that was still being heavily worked upon since there were canonically slaves, and a dimension that was savaged by a genocide and total global destruction. Hell, the series before that had a huge war where the arc actually did focus on the tragedys the characters faced and held consequence (even if they pulled a dbz revive everyone at the end). And as far back into the very first series there were even more graphic depictions of war and death? Idk i feel like people are overplaying the edge here just to find a way to complement this show.
Overall:
I'm...genuinely dissappointed. VR really had so many strong starting points but it all just fell apart at execution. Really the only reason I even bothered to watch it as kong as I did was because Im a longtime fan of the series and wanted to give it a chance rather than jump on whatever love/hate train the show has. Its been rated poorly on the JP side and most of the approval is a vocal minority. Just to be clear: this isnt me bashing the show, my opinions are mine and you can agree or disagree to any capacity, and even if a show isnt well written you can still find a reason to enjoy it despite the flaws.
But if Im being perfectly honest? I do not like this show. It's rushed, choppy, has no consistent or clear plot threads, most of the genuinely interesting characters are wasted for the protagonist to look better and he never really does because he ALSO has an interesting idea behind him but it never goes anywhere. It started strong but ended so poorly. Id be angry but im more dissappointed because Ive watched this show from day 1 and wanted to see the good things it has rather than focus on the negatibes but. yeah. This show really had potential and yet it just fell flat.

@ren-amamiyaa and their (he/she?) Golden Heist, Thief Nanako and Cryptid Chaser aus flooded my brain and now Im making this post bc I cant fit all of this in asks!!!
All right, so, idea. Cryptid Chasers, Thief Nanako and Golden Heist are all connected righr???
CC acts as a prequel, TN becomes the inbetween starring Nanako and Akechi, and GH stars a broken and older IT and slightly jaded PT.
So far CC has Yosuke and Naoto forming the brotp that fanon wanted through silly Saturday Night Ghost Chasers Shenanigans, Akiren is bein' a lil shit at midnight bc he needs an outlet and exercise to Phantom Thief. While this goes on, Akechi's ghost/spirit/rement/heart/whatever pulls pranks and shenans along with Joker (hiwever that happens).
As the Cryptid Chasers keep going out of their way to confront Joker about Arsene (bc even he likes to mess around) the other IT in Inaba start to try and stop them from disrupting the peace (read : harassing a known criminal) and this somehow leads to a falling out. Mayhaps Naoto and Yosuke break a few laws and Chie busts them, Kanji wants to know why theyre stalking his student/protege, and Yukiko just wants to keep the rumors about the inn in check bc jfc Yosuke STOP SCREECHING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT IN THE LOBBY THERE IS NO GHOST ON THE TV!
Maybe eventually they call it quits or dont bc Naoto dug this hole too deep to climb out themself and Yosuke is having the time of his life since Partner isnt around and hasn't come back to visit yet (Not sayin' souyo is canon and there but-). And the Cryptid Chasers arc probably ends here with there being some animosity towards their shenanigans , but the IT are all still friends.
Now fast forward to like, uhhh (*flings dart at wall of calendars*) 2014 during winter and Akiren's cryptid acts are now fully accepted and maybe exposed, who knows. Nanako is like 10 ~ 12 (P5 is maybe three/five years post P4 I believe) and is just going through the motions of public education. I.E. go to class, do work, get good grades. Dojima is still the same as he was before Yu came but is at least doing better at being a dad, not much but better. Yosuke and Ted aren't around as much bc Junes, Chie is transferred to Tokyo, Yukiko is busy managing the Inn, and Kanji is busy with work (as a teacher and crafts business owner). Rise unfortunately cant come visit and Big Bro now visits every other year.
Nanako starts to look back and wonder how things started to fall apart amongst the group and recalls that "delinquent" who came back at the same time the Cryptid^tm showed up and ruined the group. So now she starts to remember the good times when Big Bro came by and starts to notice some blanks around winter... Why was she in the hospital when she got kidnapled? Why does she remember these weird flashes of Big Bro and his friends and some monster?? And how come she tried to ask them anything about it they brushed her off each time???
The TV in her room flashes and soon she starts hearing things. She starts to move closer to the tv, as if she was in some sort of trance, as the sounds start to become voices to her. When she's directly infront of the screen she sees something... someone on it...
Nanako doesnt show up for breakast, or to school, and nobody seems to have seen her.
A full year passes on after that day. It starts off with a big search party of the IT and Social Links for the first two months, then after ankther three something stange happens... are people forgetting that Nanako existed or something? Everybody's starting to act like completely different peoplw than who they are too, some even end up hospitalozed due to severe headaches and such, and start claiming that Nanako was never around when she vanished or that she left Inaba or was already deamed dead or missing. This rings alarms in the IT's mimds as they search for answers, eventually all fully reuniting for the first time in years/months.
Naoto and Yosuke blame themselves bc they piece together her disappearance with the Cryptid + Ghost case and immediately get scolded for trying to pin their stupid kids game on a missing person's case - especially now with Nanako missing and possibly in danger again! Afterwards the IT are a bit on edge and a bit broken with the whole thing. Meanwhile Akechi can hear the tale ends of "missing person" and "literal disappearnace" and starts looking into this weird limbo metaverse he's in bc some shit is kinda fucked in here now for some reason. They're pretty much only together as a team to rescue Nanako.
GH in the PTs POV starts when Akiren invites the group to the Amagi Inn thanks to licrative money grin- I mean training. He comes clean into having seen something weird on the tv one late night and wants to let the gang know.
Midnight rolls around and Akechi shows up on the screen and the Thieves losing their shit is an understatement - numerous noise complaints were filed that night. Anyways Akechi decides to just play the role of "hey moron, some shits fucked come help fix it" and ends up informing them of a missing girl and this weird TV Mementos world he is in.
I would like to note that Akechi is not at all bitter or confused at everyone's circumstances in life, no of course not Joker stop crying I know its been a while but shutup theres a kid in trouble rn and youre the only ones who can possibly help her.
When the PT figure out a plan to reach this other world Goro is in (Arsene : THOUARTTHEESTICKYOURHANDINTHETVDOITDOITDOITDOIT) the IT eventually come to the very sad conclusion that Nanako moght be in the TV world and that opens a whole can of worms and burnable bridges to cross.
While in the TV world, I'd like to imagine that due to Akechi having been there for a good while it has been shaped to reflect his heart and be the new overall theme of that world. It all still looks like Inaba, but it all holds themes to Akechi and his no good terrible life. However due to Nanako having been in that world as a kid, and now for an uncertain amount of time, the world now holds motifs to the Heaven area from P4, but it's all sorta ruined and kinda darker.
When both teams get together and enter the weird Tele-Mentos world (IT in a Junes storage and PT at either Ren's pad [bc he moved out obvi] (OR bith teams enter from seperate TVs at the Inn so SHENANS!)) Yu and the IT go through Akechi's influenced world/TV Palace, finding out about his tragic backstory and involvement with the PT, but anything that can and could reveal their true identities is blurred and staticy or missing bc Akechi aint gonna snitch out who ruined his sperm donors life (also I guess saved the world too yeah). While going through the Palace the Team starts to think that finding Goro will just be an "if it happens" sort of deal bc he's been missing for years already, what if we just leave him here bc M U R D E R E R.
Cue a sudden appearance by someone in some sort of fallen angel garb who starts whipping out a full on Metal Gear Villain monologue about how hypocritical the IT are when they find the truth about Akechi's life and disappearance - they claimed to want to live in a world where no one hides in the fig, was that all a lie? Are they going back on their word, and hiding behind a shriud of lies and falsehoods once more? "You've gone and lied and hidden the truth already, what's to say you won't continue?"
Meanwhile Akiren and the Thieves enter at the very top of the Heaven TV Set and have to climb all the way down. As they do so they start seeing little murals or epitaphs about memories and people in this girls life. They see all of these memories of a happy girl who had such a loving family - both found and by blood. As they go further and further down the ruins start to look like an actual Heaven, and the scenary becomes more bright and colorful. Eventually they might run into Crow in his Black Mask clothes and give the bastard a slug on the arm and a group hug or two, bc man he doesn't deserve to suffer anymore like this.
Now that the Phantom Thieves have been reunited (Akechi : I can't leave this world The PT : FUCK, MORE PLOT) they end up thinking up ways to get Akechi out until this weird angel priest looking dude shows up and starts babling about how they are criminals and how they've done more bad than good and blah blah blah. Everyone is just all "We're the good guys, we do the right thing even if its morally grey/ambiguous!" and oh look! Another crazed maniac wants to kill us for our "injustice" *Crow has the decency to look away and not say anything* annnnnnd Heaven is locked off. Perfect.
Now maybe the Phantom Thieves and Investigation Team run into each other somewhere in Akechi's Palace and "You have Personas?!?!" "The hell is a Palace?" "YOU'RE THE CRYPTID OF INABA!!?!?" "And Im the 'Ghost' that follows him." "Wait you followed me as a ghost?" "WAIT WHY ARE THERE TWO AKECHIS??!??!!"
Oh yeah, Shadows... Akechi is still kinda in denial about the whole friends and justice thing...
And now the Dark Priest is back great ("Good name Skull" "Well I've got my moments right?").
Annnnnnnd now I have no idea what happens next and Im all burned out but AAAAAAAAA this entire AU crossover thing is so GOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!

Do you like the Evil Within 2?
Yeah! Certainly not as much as the first one (i was not immune to being sad they left out fan favorites Jojo and Ruvik's Cube)
The rest of this post is me rambling about things i didnt like about the game, and then things i did like (most of my issues are how they treat the female characters tbh)
Its missing kind of the action-noir-gone-horrifically-wrong feel of the first game. The scare factor also suffers bc our player character has been through this before, hes a veteran at dealing with this crazy shit, it doesnt phase him anymore and by extension it doesnt phase the player. They really like tripled down on the Evil Corporation thing and both the intrigue and horror suffer for it.
This game did not drink its respect women juice (the first one didnt really either, case in point: Everything About Kidman) Sebastian is surrounded by 5+ female characters and only 2 of them survive (and one of them is his 7 year old daughter hes spent the whole game trying to rescue... and yet they never bothered to give her any kind of characterization or agency. A highly empathetic and supernaturally powerful little girl in a monster-infested hellscape?? HELLO???? Lily really had the potential to be the most interesting, sympathetic, and complex character--especially as she slowly lost her innocence--in the WHOLE GAME, but she was just sort of relegated to Plot Device McGuffin) The rest of the female supporting cast are killed off for Sebastian's Man Pain. In fact, THIS ENTIRE GAME IS CENTERED AROUND SEBASTIAN'S MAN PAIN. Torrez is a walking stereotype, shes literally just Vasquez from Aliens. Hoffman was the most likeable and believeable, except when it Turns Out She Was In Love With Liam Or Whatever (psst, guess what, i dont care. Also O'neal was kind of a dick anyway? I dont care x2)
And you know who i SUPER dont care about? Bland-White-Bread-And-Mayo-Sandwich Myra. Where's the no-nonsense firecracker of a police lieutenant Sebastian married? Not here, thats for sure. Her entire personality is "mother" and "worries about stressed-out husband". We got more characterization of Myra in seb's jornals from the first game, where she never even made a physical appearance! Horror media does this SO MUCH, women are either A. Sexy Lamp B. Hurts Men (Sexily) C. Mother or D. Innocent Virgin. It sucks. Do better.
The story lacked the "digging up old buried memories" and "theres more to this than meets the eye" of the first game. It felt too...... Straightforward. Everyone told Sebastian the truth. EVERYTHING WAS EXACTLY WHAT IT SEEMED. It all felt too simple, too easy, like there SHOULDVE been something else beneath the surface. And yet there wasnt. (I watched markipliers playthrough and i loved his theory that Kidman was actually Lily. It had such potential. Kidman's entire resume for the police station was fabricated, who's to say the rest of her past wasnt fabricated as well? It would retcon a lot of stuff and like 80% of her backstory from the DLC, but you know games like this arent above retconning important shit, and at least it wouldve been sacrificed for something with actual intrigue. Maybe it wouldnt even retcon anything! Consider: tiny Lily is taken by Evil Corporation and dropped off in a non-nurturing environment that would lead her to become the kind of person who would willingly join & work for an organization like Mobius. At least wouldve been a nice excuse for why Kidman and Lilys face models looked so similar... other than... yknow.... "WomEN ARe hArD tO DRaWwwwwee")
Okay okay ive been ranting for long enough. It probably makes it sound like i kinda hate this game, but i dont! It certainly doesnt hold the same place in my heart as the first one (which i still have very glaring issues with lmao Kidman deserved WAAAAAAY better), but i do like it! It brings back salty, grizzled, tsundere Sebastian Castinellos. It brings back spooky monsters that kill you dead. It brings back having a fun theatrical over-the-top villain who takes himself a litte too seriously.
I love Stefano. Probably not in the way some other fans do, but i love him as a ridiculous theatrical over-the-top villain. He sucks! And i love that he sucks! I love him BECAUSE he sucks! Hes terrible and exaggerated and completely up his own ass and ITS GREAT. He isnt as ACTUALLY THREATENING as Ruvik was (even in his bad assassin's creed cosplay. I could go on and on and on about why Ruvik is simultaneously a ridiculous AND frightening antagonist and how much i love it but uh..... maybe later) but hes such a FUN villain! Hes the kind of pretentious art snob shitheel i cannot STAND irl, but in this game i LOVE to HATE him. Hes just SO over-the-top you kinda wonder if he actually subscribes to the pretentiousness he spouts, or if hes just being Exceptionally Extra.
The other villains? Theodore was.... forgettable. His monsters were forgettable. (Its like how i completely forgot that Frank Manera was a character in Whistleblower for like... 5 years lmao i guess this game also kinda followed that "having multiple named/characterized antagonists in one game" thing that Outlast did) Myra, i just didnt care. Her final design was kinda cool, i liked the red clusters of insect eyes. Her monsters werent really gross enough to be memorable. The only reson theyre gross at all is bc they kinda look like theyre made of semen. (I checked the wiki and apparently Myra's white goo is "psychoplasm" and her monsters lost 99% of their gross factor. I just dont care.) The Administrator literally just looked like a 3D human model of Maxwell from dont starve, and i have to laugh every time i see him. Hes not terribly threatening, all he does is threaten characters to work faster and doesnt actually follow through on those threats. He doesnt even make fun threats like HABIT or anything. He thinks hes so powerful and ominous that his mere presence will frighten the player but hes just kinda all bark and no bite. Hes The Big Bad Company Man so you know hes gonna get whats coming to him, and you know Kidmans gonna be the one to do it to him, so hes not even that much of a threat. Hes whatever.
Stefano definitely got all of the coolest monsters. Many Arms Buzzsaw Lady was terrifying and i love her. And OBSCURA was just *Chef's Kiss* Anima was cool, she kinda looked like a mix of Laura and Samara. The Harbingers were neat, but really only bc ive got a thing for gas masks. The rest of the monsters werent really unique or weighty/threatening enough to be memorable. Now the first game is a fucking TREASURE TROVE of unique monsters *muah* you got Sadist, Sentinel, Keeper, Amalgam, Heresy, Laura, Shigyo, the Twins, Alter Egos, and im probably forgetting some!! But holy FUCK!!!!! And if we're includong the DLC?? MOTHER FUCKING SHADE. SPOTLIGHT LADY. LIGHT WOMAN.  SEXY LEGS.  Whatever you call her, i fucking love her. Her design is so simple. Helmet. Sheet. Legs. Her voice? Unnerving as hell. Love it. (Also i just personally love the diving helmet. Also like you know how a lot of games have a spotlight mechanic where you have to avoid the light and if it lands on you, you're fucked? LET'S MAKE AN ENTIRE MONSTER OUT OF THAT. She's PERFECT.) Oh and also those weird crawling exploding dudes. They made gross sounds and it was great. (Tbh Keepers still probably my favorite, if only for horny reasons)
TATIANA HOW HAVE I NOT FUCKING TALKED ABOUT TATIANA. Shes like the ONE female character that i fucking LOVE in the sequel. I love how they finally gave her a personality, and that personality is literally just "fuck you, Sebastian" Oh GOD its great shes SO FUNNY. I just.... god i love Tatiana lmao. I love how she makes you kinda uncomfortable too, like she knows something, but she wont tell you bc youre stupid. I didn't like the kind of "all-knowing guide" thing they did to try and make her creepy (like she's a "guide" but then also turns around and is like "no i wont tell you what you need to know bc you """have to discover it on your own""" or whatever") it serves no purpose since she never gave you any actual information, and it didn't succeed in making her creepier, all it did was frustrate me. She was at her creepiest when she IMPLIED she was doing something behind the scenes or knew something you didn't know and then didn't elaborate (not REFUSING to elaborate, just... stopping talking and leaving the statement to hang in the air, like the "getting her nails done" and "its been a long time, detective" and the "now what makes you say that" from the first game) and she was at her funniest when she was interacting with Sebastian from the sidelines, her snide little comments and sarcastic clapping cracked me the fuck up. Tatiana not treating Sebastian seriously was a fantastic touch for a game that otherwise would probably take itself so seriously it would double back around to being silly. Without Tatiana, it would've been just another male-centric gun-toting "survival horror" game, and for the most part, it was just that. She was definitely a much-needed source of slightly derisive comedy and a definite high-point for me, even if they didn't so a great job of making her creepy or fulfilling her "purpose."
Oh I also really love the COLORS in TEW2. The first game fell into the trap of having the colors be totally washed out that a lot of horror stuff does, but it also kind of worked for it. Especially with the color pallette of our main villain and how the whole thing was His World. The saturation of the colors in the second game is a breath of fresh air and gorgeous to look at, and you can even see the color motifs of the game change with each new villain: the game starts out with Stephano has lots of blues and purples and dark reds, when Theodore takes over we get bright orange and yellow contrasted with black and brown, and in the climax with Myra the game goes back to having washed out colors and white (and with her villain design? Let's face it: they were kinda just trying to do Ruvik again) We did get portions that were still kind of wahed out whites and greens and greys, but it wasnt the ENTIRE game, even the big blood-and-brains splatterhouse sections of the first game kinda had their colors weirdly muted for that "Horror Aethetic."
In conclusion, i do like the evil within 2, but i also had a lot of problems with it. And i complain about these problems because i like the game and know it couldve done better, tried harder, and been a LOT more than it was (the wasted character potential is my real overarching pet peeve, probably becuase i loved the characters in the first game, and character development is kind of my whole jam) . But all in all, it was still a fun monster-zombie romp with at least one entertaining villain and fun-to-look-at designs and environments. It wasn't character or horror or even REALLY story driven in the way I know it COULDVE been, but i still had a fun time and enjoyed myself.

The AARONS 2018 - Best TV Episode
Peak TV is tearing me apart trying to binge-watch every show that is epic, so defending individual chapters of these shows is a good way to remind oneself to not get so lost in the big picture. Here are The Aarons for Best TV Episode:
#10. “Captain Underpants and the Costly Conundrum of the Calamitous Claylossus” (The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants, Season 1, Episode 7)
Tumblr media
Even more so than the fun but formulaic movie of last year, The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants embraces the irreverent spirit of Dav Pilkey’s children’s books. This charming childishness is no more prominent than in “The Costly Conundrum of the Calamitous Claylossus,” in which the latest vile villain brings the world of the Wedgie Warrior from its traditional genial 2D animation to 3D Claymation, threatening its survival... due to, as the characters note, the budget cuts to their show needed to maintain such animation. This meta-narrative proved that, when it comes to the colossal undertaking of retaining the joy of Pilkey’s series, the Netflix Series is certainly wearing the pants.
#9. “A House Divided” (Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia, Season 3, Episode 10)
Tumblr media
Trollhunters rose above the basic tropes at the backbone of its story thanks to the creative spirit of creator Guillermo del Toro. For its final season, del Toro’s influence was felt harder than ever, particularly in “A House Divided,” which marks protagonist Jim Lake’s fateful loss of innocence, a common theme among the director’s works. Jim’s journey has left him with an impossible choice, which renders the viewer nervously unable to breathe for the duration of the episode, only to culminate in an unforgettable ending that features only the sound of breathing. While spin-off series 3 Below may be off to a good start, it will be difficult for any of del Toro’s planned Tales of Arcadia to match the heights of his subterranean world of trolls.
#8. “I’m Not the Person I Used to Be” (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Season 4, Episode 8)
Tumblr media
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’s final season is off to an affecting start, but has suffered from a sense of place-setting in its first half, the blessing and the curse of its extended episode order this year. However, the series’ endgame seems to have finally begun in its tight-knit mid-season finale, which saw the return of season 1 mainstay Greg like you’ve never seen him before… literally. Skylar Astin gets off on the right foot as the recasting of the role, a backstage change used within universe to demonstrate and further develop Rebecca’s changing sense of self as she seeks happiness and reconciliation, noble pursuits that make for notable television. That doesn’t sound so crazy now, does it?
#7. “Winner” (Better Call Saul, Season 4, Episode 10)
Tumblr media
If Crazy Ex-Girlfriend has made excellent television out of the pursuit of personal growth, then Better Call Saul’s moral decay can perhaps be designated its mirror image. As with all of the show’s season finales, “Winner” is a product of bad decisions on the part of the characters, and great decisions on the part of the show’s creators. The episode acts as a microcosm of a season filled with exhilarating schemes, striking cinematography, and poignant decisions, culminating in a turn of events that remains shocking despite being known as inevitable. The episode title says it all. This one’s a winner.
#6. “Legends of To-Meow-Meow” (Legends of Tomorrow, Season 4, Episode 8)
Tumblr media
As noted in its ranking in the Best TV Shows of the year, there is a large assortment of gonzo episodes of Legends of Tomorrow that deserve distinguished praise, but the show might have snuck its most awesomely oddball episode in just under the wire for this awards show. A teammate’s transformation into a feline following a regretful change to history is but the cat-alyst of an episode that illustrates the multiple revisions to the Legends of Tomorrow (aka Custodians of the Chronology aka Sirens of Space Time) timeline via retro-TV-themed intros, explicitly mocks the comparatively tame nature of the concurrent running “Elseworlds” crossover, and, yes, teaches kids helpful lessons through the power of singing puppets. It’s an episode brimming with loveable moments, but all knit together with a touching story of a lost love that perfectly illustrates why Legends of Tomorrow has clawed its way up to the best of the Arrowverse.
#5. “Time’s Up for the Gang” (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Season 13, Episode 4)
Tumblr media
Always Sunny has never shied away from addressing hot-button issues, tackling racism, abortion, and gun control with a biting satirical edge in just its first batch of episodes. Yet, it’s still shocking how much dark humor the show can unearth in the most unlikely of places, a delicate balancing act that succeeds because the show is keenly aware of where its jokes should fall. Written by series standout Megan Ganz, “Time’s Up for the Gang” puts its hilariously-horrible cast of characters through the ringer over their past behavior with rollicking gall and technical grace. There’s likely no other show that can maintain such quality and relevance thirteen seasons in, suggesting that Always Sunny’s time is far from over.
#4. “Jeremy Bearimy” (The Good Place, Season 3, Episode 4)
Tumblr media
Written by the bearer of one of Twitter’s best accounts, and the mind behind last year’s eclectic entry “Dance Dance Resolution,” Megan Amram, Jeremy Bearimy brought The Good Place’s third season roaring to life in wild fashion. Kickstarting with the reveal that our universe’s true nature is more “Jeremy Bearimy” than timey-wimey, the episode features a slow descent into existential crises that is, despite the show’s wonderfully heightened reality, presented in the most relatable of fashions: a truly, truly disgusting bowl of chili. The episode’s major resonance lies in the credo cultivated in its final moments, a commitment to doing good in the face of inescapable punishment, but it’s also an unbearably funny journey to get there.
#3. “Free Churro” (BoJack Horseman, Season 5, Episode 6)
Tumblr media
BoJack Horseman’s most remarkable episodes, such as previous Aaron winners “Fish Out of Water” and “Stupid Piece of Sh*t,” have been those that have toyed with its animation format. “Free Churro” breaks these conventions in a completely different manner, isolating the entire action of the episode to a single monologue via eulogy delivered by Will Arnett’s BoJack. This striped-down focus parallels the striping down of BoJack’s psyche through a rambling, soul-churning soliloquy that lays bare BoJack’s tragic backstory. As it goes on, the monologue leads the protagonist and the viewer to the harrowing realization that perhaps there will not be a happy ending waiting at the end of all this. It’s heavy stuff, but the cherry on the top of a great episode is the comedic pay-off to the piece, in case you were afraid that “Free Churro” was entire free of cheer.
#2. “Party Monster: Scratching the Surface” (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Season 4, Episode 3)
Tumblr media
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, like BoJack Horseman, is a show that address a history of abuse in unexpectedly uproarious ways, and, like BoJack Horseman, produced one of the best episodes of the year by breaking its Unbreakable formula. Framed as an expose documentary on Kimmy’s once-captor, the Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne aka DJ Slizzard, “Party Monster: Scratching the Surface” is at once a staggering assortment of long-running gags, a painfully precise mockery of documentary formats (including riotous instances of narrative tangents and stock footage), and a scathing lampooning of how misogynistic radicalization takes hold.  The show has always been fueled by a righteous fury, but with the fourth season’s no-holds-barred approach to its darker material that never sacrifices the rapid-fire humor, it’s sad that Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt will be ending this year, when it seems like it’s still just scratching the surface.
AND THE BEST TV EPISODE OF 2018 IS...
#1. “Teddy Perkins” (Atlanta, Season 2, Episode 6)
Tumblr media
Unexpected even in a show that’s routinely impossible to predict, “Teddy Perkins” is undoubtedly the strangest episode of TV all year… and certainly the best. Fulfilling, and perhaps exceeding, the bizarreness of Atlanta’s oft-cited inspiration Twin Peaks, the episode follows Lakeith Stanfield’s Daryl quest for a particular piano that lands him in the decrepit mansion of the peculiar eponymous Teddy Perkins, an eerie, ersatz late-in-life Michael Jackson, played by star Donald Glover in extensive make-up. It’s surreal without sacrificing structure (in fact, the episode aired unbroken by commercial to enhance the immersion) or the show’s social commentary. For the entire extended-length of the unnerving and unforgettable episode, viewers are rankled by the horrifying possibilities of a show that has so unequivocally shattered all boundaries of television, including the possibility of a fateful end for a beloved central character. A standalone dreamlike masterpiece strengthened by its relation to a superb show, “Teddy Perkins” will undoubtedly perk up your ears if you’ re not already all in on Atlanta.
Yes, I know my puns got worse as the episodes got better.

“Yes the Sylvanas storyline IS original and its one the Horde needs right now″
For starters “2.0″ always means “not the same, but similar and better”  so GJ using the reference wrong
Ok for reasons i cant understand people keep calling whats happening Garrosh 2.0. when the only similarity is that the person who is a villain is the Horde Warchief.
That COMPLETELY ignores the canon personality and history of both characters. it COMPLETELY ignores FIVE expansions worth of story (so like 10 years) for Garrosh and ALL of Sylvanas’s story.
I’m sorry but any idiot can look at the best thing in the world and insult it with a single sentance. Obama the greatest president? “Oh that do nothing president?”  Beyonce is a legend? “oh i think she’s overrated”, Chris Evans is hot? “oh another muscled blond twunk, how original?”
giving a quick one liner to insult the story and the writers doesnt give any validity to your statement. the only reason it continues is because its popular to be mean to developers. If you actually had to PROVE why its bad or similar you’d be fucked because they arent even remotely similar.
The Horde is a unified found family of people with greatly different values who help each other survive in a harsh world. The Tauren find Forsaken actions such as experimenting on living people, abhorrent, but they are allies and dont presume to judge the actions of people who were enslaved in death. The Trolls kept most of their rituals but gave up cannibalism in order to make the Orcs happy. Most of the blood elves are not used to such....natural enviroments but Silvermoon still sends its finest in defense of Horde lands.
The Horde is a group willing to put up with each others evils, willing to protect each other, and work together because they made an oath to do so.  many of the horde disagreed with Thrall’s leadership, many disagreed with Garrosh’s, many disagreed with Vol’jins and Sylvanas’s . But the Warchief was their leader. 10s of thousands throughout the years had already died because their warchief asked them to. to protect each other and their own.
many people who’s sincerity i question say blizzard has forgotten what makes up the horde but YOU forget what makes up the horde.  They’ve gone along with things they dont agree with because they Trust the mantle of warchief, the entire system is based on the idea that the leaders will work in their best interest and sometimes that means some of them have to do harsh things, or fight to the death because it protects the HORDE not the individual.
The problem is that that can work both ways. If you trust Thrall your warchief , that working with the humans who hate us is what we need to do to save the world then you do as he commands. Likewise if the warchief tells you that you need to fight to occupy Pandaria to get the resources so horde children can grow up with full bellies then you do as he commands. And if the Warchief tells you that from her expert opinion the Alliance will strike and you need to make the first move then you do as she commands.
you say “FOR THE HORDE” but dont realize that most of the Horde will give their weapons, lives, concience, and even their honor and morals to protect the Horde?
but back to the two warchiefs.
Garrosh was an outsider. For some Ass reason people blame Thrall, despite him kinda having to help save the world, asking Cairne and Vol’jin to advize  Garrosh, and Garrosh being a good 10 years older than Thrall who was i believe 24 at the time World of Warcraft started. Anyways, THATS whats important Garrosh was an outsider. He was discovered in the burning crusade, and when Thrall told him that while Grom did sell out the horde he ultimately did what was right Garrosh deliberately ignored the lesson in favor of his binary way of thinking. To Garrosh you are an enemy or ally, you are a victor or a loser. He thought Grom doomed his people , he didnt give a damn about the countless draenei children whos bones made up the Path of Glory, he cared because Grom was an embarrassment . He didnt care that Grom helped save elf and human lives by killing Manaroth, he cared that he saved Orc lives and FREE’d his people from the underhandedness of Gul’dan.
People act like his character was assassinated and those people are Wrong. I was there for the prepatch event, the moment he looked at Ogrimmar he spat on how hard his fellow orcs works. He saw the lush lands far away and demanded why Thrall did not TAKE them. He didnt listen when thrall said that Durotar was their penance for the all the Genocide that orcs committed. Of course Garrosh doesnt care about nuance, You are good or bad, enemy or friend. To admit that the Horde did something wrong would to suggest that their victories, their legacy was honorless. And that would mean HIS legacy was honorless. And as a selfish bit of self defense he REFUSED to accept that. So he challenged the Warchief himself to a duel for rulership of the Horde (or at least Ogrimmar). which was interrupted by the Scourge (and also in which Thrall used magic btw).
Garrosh was an outsider but he spoke Alt Right propoganda. Most of the orcs did not know draenor, they grew up in the horde, some their lives sucked away by Guldan’s warlocks. Many knew only the glory days of the horde and then the suffering of the internment camps. others grew up in those interment camps NEVER knowing any glory only the piss and mudd of their human captors. Thrall didnt leave Durnholde till he was 13 (physically the size of an adult orcs, probably almost mentally mature). this meant that orcs were captive for that same time. Any orc that is currently less than 28 years old would have been BORN a slave and knowing only that.
So when Garrosh spoke to these orcs who  where teenage to young adult age about how they should be glorious, about how the filthy humans didnt deserve their respect he had a crowd. Almost evey young orc HAD nothing to be ashamed of unlike Saurfang and Eitrigg they had never murdered innocent humans. but humans DID beat them, despite being smaller and weaker.
Skipping ahead, when he became warchief he spouted propoganda. He was not interested in The Horde as we know it He didnt want a family he wanted “THE HORDE” a glorious war machine to trample those who deserve trampling. Thats why he looked down on the Goblins elves and forsaken. While the rest of the horde didnt like their family, the strange cultures of other races, they accepted them. even if they did not personally accept them they knew that they could not let others know. But Garrosh didnt care about family, didnt care about the Horde. He was an outsider pushing his delusions of grandiur and glory of the old horde he never even experienced, onto THIS horde.
And everytime he tried to shove the horde races back into their places he hurt them. Many of the horde were sucked in, mostly the orcs though. All that “this is WHO we are”. And since the Horde as the Horde understood it was loyal and understanding they went along with  it. Each race had warred with the alliance before. They might have personally disagreed but they were loyal to the horde and its chief, if he felt they deserved to take ashenvale the horde would do so.
But like i’ve said 20 times, the Horde was family, not a war machine. When something didnt ‘fit” like the forsaken’s plagues, or the cowardly goblins they were shoved to the side. They “had no place in MY HORDE”.  Garrosh pushed and threatened, but he did help in the campaign against deathwing, he was just alot more...aggressive and mean than Thrall. But as his power solidified he saw more the potential of his horde, and what pieces didnt fit. Vol’jin the rightful warchief was in the Horde from day 1 and didnt accept any disrespect the Horde HE knew was family and he was right. Sylvanas knew this lover of Axe and Brainlessness would never accept the forsaken, but kept her cards close to the chest. And the elves went to the throne of thunder to get a weapon as a deterant for Garrrosh’s anger.
Garrosh, the outsider, trying to force the horde into what it wasnt, attacked and destroyed that family. He wanted to become head of house but he destroyed family and THAT the horde could not abide. For the Alliance their Morality is more important than their kin. this is why the blood elves and forsaken were shunned, why they accepted the Void elves and worgen, they had similar values. For the Horde their Kin was more important than their Morality. They would protect their friends even if their friends turned to darkness. Because they trust each other , they trust its necessary, they trust that to SURVIVE sometimes you have to look the other way as your comrade eats brains, or sucks magic out of a demon
And Garrosh betrayed that trust and he was ousted
The reason why the Horde needs this storyline is because thats Not whats happening here. The Horde could distance themselves from Garrosh, they could say “not my warchief” despite 34% of them voting for him. He was an outsider, brought into the horde , and betrayed it.
Not Sylvanas though. She’s not a founding member but she almost is. She’s been in the horde for Years, she’s has command over the greatest victims of evil, and spearheaded the fight against the Lich King. She is the one who created the cure for the Plague. if not for her and her apothecaries the 2nd scourge invasion would have been the end. She’s ALWAYS been evil. She’s a monster. A horrible disgusting shell of herself whos only emotion is hatred or nothingness. thats why we love her. She’s extremely dangerous, and since 2004 Warcraft has said “THe forsaken are up to something” they were the black sheep of the family. But they were, as she said, loyal to the Horde. the Horde Trusts her, trusted her, relied on her. Her apothecaries worked with the Shat’tar to create the cure to the plague . She spearheaded the campaign against Arthas. in every area of the world the forsaken willingly sent their scientists and mages and warlocks to study dark magic and plagues to help the horde fight demons and monsters. Her spies who do not require food or water or air have been invaluable. The horde for YEARS has looked the other way, knowing its hard to judge someone who had been enslaved and turned into a monster against their will. Yes they comitted attrocities, but whats it mater really if you kill the enemy with an arrow or with a disease. one is more horrific yes but dead is dead and that was their way.
Sylvanas has always been a part of the Horde, She IS part of the Horde, the horde wouldnt be the same without their undead brothers and sisters, without the sciences and magics of lordearon and the dead brought to bare against any enemy. She is FAMILY She IS the Horde.
She ISNT an outsider. She represents everything the horde is, or rather everything the HOrde chooses to ignore about itself. The Horde is full of noble, honored, skilled, regal and peaceful people. but among those were orc nationalists, monsterous forsaken who commit evil, trolls who perform dark magic, cannibalism. . The Horde has ALWAYS looked the other way from its own dark side in order to put Kin before their morals for the sake of the Horde.
And now the epitome of the Hordes compliance has done something none of them can condone. The Horde has always turned the other cheek when one of its members has commited attrocities. even Garrosh wasnt ousted until he attacked its own members
The Horde could never say they were the good guys, because they did almost nothing as their family commited evil.
Sylvanas is family, the forsaken is family. Its easy to kick an associate out, For an outsider to come into your group and say “this is how we should do things” and when you realize they are going to far to kick them out, to band together against them.
But what if that person whos gone to far, who does horrible things, who puts you at risk and risks your family, IS family.
This is the Hordes reckoning. this is the moment they will have to decide, is Family worth losing your souls over?  I think the answer they will choose is ‘no”

Why Shigaraki can get redemption? Hints (give it a chance)
well first of all, obviously i am not sure about that but i would like to share what i saw with you guys so please give it a chance. and first, let me say this. i usually dont like villains and dont care that much. cause i hate when someone excuse their past  even though its understandable but this time, its different. this is my first expectional. and i didnt care redemption things that much in the past but this one is my first and i hope it really can happen. i never saw someone who deservers and needs redemption more than anyone else. he needs a hero more than anyone else.
and my favorite character is deku, second is shigaraki and thats why this redemption is important for me.i want real justice. and only this redemption can bring real justice to this story, i think. thats why i love deku, tenko and this story. i believe this is all about, this is what it supposed to be so hopefully you can read it. i believe, its worth it. (and sorry for bad eng btw)
1- GREATEST VICTIM:
Tumblr media
if you really pay attention shigaraki s past and everything about him. he never had a choice but to be a villain. it was only path for him. “villain who had no choice but to be a villain. horikoshi said this in his interview. he didnt say it is shigaraki but shigaraki wqas the only villain who had no choice so).
Tumblr media
people who doesnt know about (manipulation, abuse, dehumanized people, how you shouldnt raise a child, psychological torture and psychology) , cant see shigaraki as a human but monster. they ohly see shigaraki s present but if you really research about these things, shigaraki coulnt be something else. you can read the theories about these on my tumbrl or you can check on other people s tumbrl. abuse, victimhood and blah blah. it will help you to understand. if you read all of them, you can see how much victim he is, maybe.

https://savetenko.tumblr.com/post/184769118987/what-is-shigaraki-gonna-do-after-he-learnt-about
https://galacticana.wordpress.com/2018/07/13/can-you-please-tell-me-more-about-tomura-shigaraki/
its not that. shigaraki is in constantly in pain and completely empty. yeah he cares about his comprades but thats it. he likes NOTHING. i mean, everything about him makes him more victim.
nothing will change the fact that tenko should be saved, no matter what happens.
2- TENKO - SHIINA - HANA :
Tumblr media
did you ever read horikoshi s other series? tenko one-shot. oumagadoki zoo.
https://savetenko.tumblr.com/post/185435057607/hana-tenko-shigaraki-deku
first, tenko one-shot from horikoshi. there is a character that named “tenko”. main character. and that kid is really similar to shigaraki but he has different life. in that story, tenko wasnt manipulated by someone. he had tragedy but still, he was a good person with his own way. he was lost, broken whatever and in the end of story, he was saved by hana. hana save him from his curse.
oumagadoki zoo. shiina is shigaraki. now. he is an adult but mentally kid. no one manipulated him. and also luckiely he had his friends. he had a curse and trying to healing with his own ways. then hana came and well in the end of the story, hana saved shiina from his curse (it cancelled but it was the real end, i think)
in every story, shigaraki is a character who is lost, broken, dont know what to do and waiting for to being saved. he is a traegedy character in evrey series. no family, tragedy, they all have their own curse and blah blah. well, tenko from one shot and shiina from oumagadok zoo was luckier than shigaraki. in bnha, shigaraki is completely lost, broken. its like same people who has different life.
and in every story, hana is the one who saved tenko from his curse. if you really read these stories, real hana in this story is deku. so deku is the one who will save tenko from his curse. (it doesnt mean that it has to be same but still, hopefully it can happen cause i think it should happen.)
3- ) author is preparing deku to him understanding shigaraki:
Tumblr media
https://savetenko.tumblr.com/post/184784638422/author-is-preparing-deku-to-him-understanding
https://savetenko.tumblr.com/post/185462390237/aysall-hanyuu7-replied-to-your-post-daily
https://savetenko.tumblr.com/post/184784640747/another-parallel-in-bnha-part-2
why shigaraki is a parallel with the all characters who saved by deku?
(not just this, author is showing to him faults of society)
bakugo, todoroki, kota, eri, mr gentleman (even hawks).
they were good victims but shigaraki was bad victim? shigaraki was DEHUMANIZED, he was groomed to be a villain. its really important difference. anyone could be like him.
for example, eri doesnt remember his father s death but shigaraki does. his pain is deeper than anyone else s. and overhaul didnt remind of her what she did cause he doesnt care about her. she was just tool. but for afo, tenko was important as his successor, as his product. he was needed to be manipulated. i think at first tenko also didnt want to hurt anyone just like eri thats why he was wearing the gloves, at first. something must happenned to change his mind.
stop underestimating and ignoring tenko s pain. cause i can see the kind, gratefull child who wants to be saved inside of him. he could be cruel, ungratefull like overhaul (he betrayed the man who took him and that man didnt even force him to being a akuza, he said you can go.) but even though, he was dehumanized, he didnt. he was always different from othner villains and always close to good side s victims. if you really think about it, you can see it too.
not just with parallels, he is doing with a lot of ways. he is showing to deku that something has to change. with heroes, with villains even with his quirk.
https://savetenko.tumblr.com/post/185347750102/about-decay
dont be surprised if he gets decay quirk from nana :)
btw i wrote all parallels in my tumbrl. you can check on.
4- MAIN CHARACTER:
a) deku shouldnt kill shigaraki
(even shigaraki kills allmight or someone who are precious to deku, even its inko or hana who is tenko s sister cause it wont change the fact that shigaraki no tenko still needs to be saved. enemy or not, there is someone who needs help, and you must save him. who, how, where, doesnt matter. this is the true hero
and deku is not the type who gets revenge or hold a grudge, even overhaul hurt a lot of people, only thing deku was thinking was “its a villain who needs to stop” not kill or revenge he doesnt think these kind of things.)
and i dont think he will. its not just about shigaraki. its about deku. its about just who he is. he is a hero, TRUE HERO and he shouldnt kill villain. he shouldnt kill his biggest enemy, no matter what happens. thats the certain difference between villains and heroes so deku wont/shouldnt kill shigaraki.
(and i wrote a lot about the reasons about this, you can check on my tumbrl.)
https://savetenko.tumblr.com/post/184876269697/why-shigaraki-hates-allmight-why-deku
https://savetenko.tumblr.com/post/184863066257/what-if-one-for-all-is-exist-to-save-all-for-one
b) i just cant imagine a future that deku s giving up on saving tenko. deku will eventually learn his story
Tumblr media
i mean if he wouldnt learn, it wouldnt makes sense so after he learnt that how much shigaraki victim is,
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
we all know that deku will try to save shigaraki from his curse. you can say that shigaraki wont want that but the posibility that tenko s being a hero will always be there.
i mean he saved eri. shigaraki s condition is worse than eri so he will just give up?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it just doesnt fit deku s character. he should find a way no matter what happens. i mean come on, its deku that we are talking about.
Tumblr media
i dont believe that deku would call himself a “hero” if he couldnt save tenko but deku said “this is the story how i became the greatest hero” so definitely he should save tenko
c) we have a main character who can change the future so
Tumblr media
deku can smash shigaraki s fate about being antagonist and destroying everything. (interesting part is remember this, all “future changing/bending fate thing) is happenning to save eri who is parallel with shigaraki. eri is one of the biggest proof of that shigaraki should (hopefully will) be saved.)
Tumblr media
d) deku and bakugou are learning “save and win” part.
Tumblr media
so what if someone that you must defeat and save is the same person? answer is obvious. you should stop him, defeat him. (not killing him, obviously). and save him (giving him a new chance, hope, showing what hero means). i dont exactly know how it will happen though.
e) how deku can be greatest hero? how deku can show the difference between true hero and others?
Tumblr media
the difference between deku and the others.
Tumblr media
did anyone try to understand villains? did someone try to fix something before? no one did so only deku can do this. only deku can change things.
https://savetenko.tumblr.com/post/184873685777/why-deku-wont-become-symbole-of-peace-why
allmight cant do this or gran torino or someone else cause shigaraki isnt in a state that listen, understand, love someone. and he is the last boss. so at least he wont get redemption until the end of the story, until the last arc. he will face with deku. so only deku can do this
and deku might get some help about shigaraki s redemption from his friends maybe, who knows cause he is not the type that who fight alone. he will fight with his friends. unlike allmight. maybe unexpected characters will also help deku too about this, who knows. we will see.
and maybe until the last fight, we will all loose our hope about this redemption, not just we bnha fans, also all characters in bnha including deku but maybe last moment, deku will make some miracle, i hope he can.
he (his true hero soul) is my only real hope about this redemption. so we wont get real answers until the end, unfortunately.
5-STORY:
a) shigaraki is a very broken character and he is one of the most tragic victims in anime history
Tumblr media
and this a story about heroes, justice and showing their faults to heroes and made them better heroes so in these kind of story, shigaraki shouldnt stay as a victim but if they dont save tenko, he will allways be a tragic victim cause there is a posibility that he could become a hero will allways be there
b) shigaraki was ignored by the world when he was a kid.
Tumblr media
so are you telling me that he will be ignored and abandoned by the world again? didnt everything happen cause of people s ignorance? it just doesnt fit this story. time to stop being ignorance.
c) you can say that he is the antagonist
Tumblr media
but who said biggest enemy cant be redeemed? in the end of story, why not? after the big fight with deku maybe? cause we all know shigaraki is the last boss and will become the greatest villain so maybe greatest villain doesnt mean evilest villan?  it means the most dangerous villain maybe? and remember, people who are in pain are the ones who are the most dangerous. so its basically what makes shigaraki dangeours. his deeper pain. his victimhood is what makes him a villain. it still can chappen.
d) in this story, there are a lot of victims especially villains s backstory.
Tumblr media
so someone has to change this and you cant change this while killing villains. you have to find something else, another way. especially shigaraki is a blow-back and you cant just destroy blow-back. if you do that, one day another shigaraki will be born and nothing will change but it will be worse
https://savetenko.tumblr.com/post/185341644322/hero-society-only-rewards-powerful-flashy-quirks
https://savetenko.tumblr.com/post/185017729452/what-the-villains-are-probably-gonna-do-to
e) not just villains, even in hero side there are a lot of people who are victims and a lot of people dont know what hero means. mostly of them are anti-hero. even deku dont know, he just following his hearth. saving shigaraki can show the world, not just to shigaraki, not just to deku s himself, to everyone. everyone can see/learn what hero means
f) deku always win his enemies and saved victims until now.
Tumblr media
this is exactly why last fight will be so hard cause now, the person you must saved and stopped will be same. it will be amazingly so hard. it wont be just power fight. it will be more than that. thats why it will be so epic. just defeating enemy wont be enough, thats one of the amazing points in this story. also if this happens, it will make a difference between this story and others.
g) it would be cliche so it shoulnt happen ? everything is cliche in these days. and if shigaraki gets redemption and wont die, it would be something different cause author usually kills antagonist but what about something different, this time? antagonist is stopping being antagonist and being normal person?
btw protagonist deku should live hopefully, i dont want deku s sacrificing himself. (he should live to save more people in the future.) and “dont getting redemption” doesnt fit shigaraki s character, deku s true soul and this story. so it can happen. maybe author will do something extremely extraordinary. maybe deku will still live, tenko will live and tenko will be saved and it will still be fair, amazing and happy ending? who knows what will happen, we will see.
h) not even need to talk about author is keep reminding us that how much victim shigaraki is with secret hints. so hopefully it  can happen. i am not saying that it will happen, i am saying it should happen for the sake of everything. (i think)
5- TENKO ORIGIN:
look at this notes. i believe that his origin tenko is good. tomura is evil.
https://codenamesazanka.tumblr.com/post/184783095389/codenamesazanka-yet-another-proto-shigaraki
why we get shigaraki tomura distortion but not tenko shimura origin? did you ever think about why all for one worked so hard to turning him to a villain? i mean, he said “he was born twisted” maybe he is right shigaraki was pure evil, even when he was a kid. but i dont think its true.
Tumblr media
a) if he is a pure evil, why afo messed him that much? why did he try to controlling him that much? psychological torture was unnecessary but why did he do it? why someone like him wasnt confidence enough about saying that cause he was sad while saying that, wasnt laughing. (not sure though) if he really thinks shigaraki is “pure evil” then why did he watch every move he did from camera? maybe he was talking about something else idk. but i dont believe that tenko is evil. i believe tenko is good. tomura is evil. i think afo sees shigaraki as his product, something he created. tomura is something afo created. this society created. (author is saying that, not me. so it cant be real him, i believe)
https://savetenko.tumblr.com/post/185569751072/why-did-all-for-one-choose-shigaraki-theory
A monster created by today s society. its not origin. why author or afo , why everything forced him that much? i mean, if he is a pure evil, then why author give him a this much tragedy? its so unrealistic and unnecessary. if shigaraki was a pure evil even when he was a kid, i would felt like being cheated cause its just makes no sense. cause otherwise, it would be like “i gave to him a lot of tragedies just to making a drama” and it would be so waste.
b) he wanted to be a hero........................................
https://savetenko.tumblr.com/post/184878069647/fumikage-so-tomura-tenko-found-out-about-his
if he never met All For One or if someone taught him what is right, if there is someone who was there for him, shigaraki wouldnt be a villain. he would be a hero just like todoroki, bakugou, deku :’) maybe he could be greatest hero and this story would be his story, who knows. for example, this part was unnecessary ok i get author wants us to feeling sorry for him but it was already enough??? i mean why author did go so far? it was already enough!!! this is too much, this is just makes him ultimate victim that we (at least, i) ever seen.
and you can say that his character isnt like this but actually it makes more sense. cause hate comes from love. so he hates everything and heroes so much cause there was a time that he loved them so much. he bileved them but they disappointed him probably.
nothing will change the fact that tenko is exist and he deserves better than this.
c) i believe tenko was like izuku who could be greatest hero but couldnt cause of some certain reasons. izuku and him are parallel who could be each other. so deku will fight with his parallel. shigaraki will face his old self. after this fight, hopefully deku win. hopefull, tenko defeat tomura. hopefully it can happen. saving your parallel. its what it supposed to be, i think. honestly, my biggest hope is deku but nothing else about shigaraki s redemption.
6-SHIGARAKI S POTENTIAL TO BEING A GOOD PERSON:
Tumblr media
shigaraki character is evil and monster but he is a monster created by today s society and All For One so the real shigaraki isnt like that.
a) shigaraki isnt joker or thanos. he wants to destroy everything only cause of his deeper pain. “everything rubs me the wrong way.” this is true, author, afo, society, everything makes him villain. so they are forcing him. basically its not what shigaraki really wants in deep:
https://savetenko.tumblr.com/post/184719577087/what-is-that-shigaraki-really-wants
and interesting is shigaraki always being more broken lost and confused. he isnt finding his way. he cant understand a lot of things about life.
-he doesnt know what hero means so dont you think someone has to show him what hero really means?
-he doesnt see the difference between heroes and villains so d ont you think someone has to show him the difference (like not killing him or giving a new chance or with a lot of way)
-he is hopeless so someone has to give him a hope?
-he lost his faith in heroes, justice, everything. so dont you think someone has to make him believe again?
b) shigaraki isnt happy as a villain,
Tumblr media
this isnt what he really wants. he is so dead so hopeless, so empty.
shigaraki hates everything cause they are remind of him the happiness he will never have again. so shigaraki basically hates happiness s himself. he wants to kill/destroy happiness. he wants to kill people s hearth. killing hearths, his main goal. well, killing people are second goal.
(but shigaraki s real wish is being happy, i think but he thinks he will never be happy again thats why he is doing this)
just like deku. deku wants to save people but main goal is saving hearths. opposite sides each other.
shigaraki likes nothing. he has no joy in his life. this is another proof of that his life is completey far away from happiness.
Tumblr media
he even thrown up when he remember happy memory in chapter 227.
Tumblr media
he felt happiness and it makes him sick? you dont need to be geinus to see how much far away he is from happiness.
yeah he cares about his comprades / people who are good to him but it doesnt mean he is happy with his life. only redemption can make him happy. destroying everything wont make him happy. and he knows that. he doesnt believe that he can be happy. this is why he is doing this. he just has no hope :’))).
only redemption can bring happiness to him even he end up living in prison, i believe he will be happier than now, also he will pay what he did. this is real justice, it supposed to be. his death wouldnt be justice or something like that. with every way, it would be tragic so i hope deku can give him a new life chance, despite shigaraki s crimes. hopefully.
c) there is still something good in him and always will. cause i believe its origin.
https://savetenko.tumblr.com/post/185348474272/why-is-league-of-villains-like-a-family
https://savetenko.tumblr.com/post/185350066687/secret-kindness-of-shigaraki-tomura-give-it-a
some people say redmeption doesnt fit shigaraki s character but i dont believe that people really understand shigaraki cause redemption cant fit more than this to a character so shigaraki can be redeemed despite his crimes. definitely it can happen.
d) everyone could be like him, EVERYONE or big posibility worse.
e) he is different from other villains. shigaraki is the only villain who really had no choice. he never was cruel like overhaul and didnt even think sacrifice people he care about him/ people who are good to him even though he hates everything.
(btw, if shigaraki gets redemption, i dont think he will abandon his comprades (as long as something unexpected thappenned or his comprades betrayed him)
so i dont think that shigaraki will be the only villain who gets redemption but to me, he is the one who definitely should get redemption. cause he was really in despair and he deserves this yeah even though everything, he did, do and will deserves this more than anyone else. yeah.
he doesnt deserve it? no he does and if he gets redemption, i am almost sure that he will regret everything he did. (and its the best punishment that can happen)
f) and remember this:
Tumblr media
When you have to save someone, they're usually in a scary situation. A true hero saves not only their lives, but also their hearts... That's what I believe. So no matter how scary things get, give 'em a smile, as if to say, "I'm a-ok". The people in this world who can smile are always the strongest.Nana Shimura to Toshinori Yagi in "One For All"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and we have shigaraki, who 's hearth is broken, empty, full of pain. someone needs to save his hearth and who else can do besides deku, the true hero? but not by killing him. saving his life and hearth. yeah and hopefully it can happen.
yeah, you cant save someone who doesnt want to be saved but shigaraki does. he wants to be saved in his deep that he doesnt even aware of that anymore and he doesnt believe that he will be saved, happy, normal again thats his motivation as a villain. his pain is his weapon. but if someone heal his hearth, shigaraki s pain/weapon will gone, his reason to being a villain will gone and deku will win with his true hero soul.
g) characters like him usually gets redemption. The king Meruem from Hunter x Hunter, Gabimaru from Jigakuraku. (X from Dice. it didnt end yet. i will check on when it finished). (well even shigaraki was more victim than all of them). if you really understand shigaraki character, you will see: he is not like joker or thanos. he is not afo, maybe in the future he will be like him but it wont be the same cause he doesnt want this fate, everything forced him to that way. cause its not what he really wants, i believe.
you cant save everyone. (so in the future, deku shouldnt be like allmight like “i can do it alone and can save everyone its ok” but he should save tenko) yeah but shigaraki, tenko is there. he will be in front of deku. you can t save someone who doesnt want to being saved but in his deep, shigaraki wants that. he doesnt even realize this, i think but its what he really wants. so hopefully people can stop being ignorance and see that.
h) and i dont think that
Tumblr media
one for all wielders would want to abandon tenko like that. especially nana who is gradmama of tenko, also tenko s inspiration in the past. also allmight too. but not just cause of he is nana s grandson. its cause of he is someone who needs to be saved, no matter what happens. they probably wont say like “save him” to deku cause they will believe that deku will do the right thing as a true hero.
i) what would be the best way of defeating All For One? afo really worked hard to turning tenko to tomura, his successor. if they kill shigaraki or they just defeat him and abandon him like that or they dont save him, shigaraki always will be a victim and it will still be afo s victory cause shigaraki s existence is proof of that heroes failed to save a child who desprately need help.
it will be burden of their hearts but if they save tenko/shigaraki, afo will completely loose and everything he did will be waste. one for all wielders will defeat afo and shigaraki with their true hero soul, if they save tenko. maybe after that, even afo saw the difference between heroes and villains. he will see. his brother will show him and finally it will be good guys s victory and it would be really epic.
so what is the problem about his redemptions?
1- he has no redemption moral right now. i mean he lost everything. lets suppose he wants to be good again but will he even get a new chance, normal life? i mean, he has no one he has nothing and his pain is still there. he is still in pain.
but for now, this is the case but it doesnt mean he wont get his moral in the future. its impossible? there is no hope?
Tumblr media
who said that
2-he will go so far, shigaraki probably will destroy everything. he will be the greatest villain. he will do a lot of bad things and sometimes we will lost our faith in his redemption posibility.
will society even forgive him? or lets suppose somehow, he lived but can he even take all of this? can he live with that remorse feeling? cause it will be so hard for him.
Tumblr media
it will be hard but its not impossible. miracles can happen (and i am waiting for that miracle), especially our main character is deku.
3-fandom. a lot of people dont want redemption cause a lot of people doesnt want this so author might change his mind cause of this? but if he doesnt, i think it would ruin the story cause shigaraki s character isnt made like that. hopefuly fandom dont affect his story.
Tumblr media
4-this interview. he said shigaraki can no longer turn back. i have no idea what does it mean. so shigaraki cant be tenko again? idk. actually only this interview took my all hope and also fandom s ignorance. besides that, i was completely sure that tenko will be saved. and i heard author loves marvel, star wars, tragic things, bad ending, dark things?
so i wonder he would sacrifice this character cause its too late? cause it would be so hard to save him? “death will be the only salvation”??? (its ridicilous) cause author pushed him so hard? cause fandom wanted like that? honestly, my opinion it would ruin everything in this story about cause its just doesnt fit everything in this story. tenko who needs a hero more than anyone else, shigaraki s broken hearth, deku s true hero soul, a lot of victims in this story, heroes are learing their faults, the fact that something has to change, showing the what true hero means
(this kind of story shouldnt have tragic victims and if they dont save him or kill him, shigaraki alwqays will be a victim cause we all know if that tragedly didnt happenned, if there was someone for him, he wouldnt be the way he is now so they should save him and shouldnt kill him, obviously and hopefully)
and blah blah a lot of things. so hopefully it can really happen cause this is all about. so hopefuly hopefully hopefully it can happen :’))).
but idk what author means that. maybe he wil do something really unexpected and maybe he will still save tenko but with different ways (not killing) and we just dont know yet?
cause author said “villain who had no choice but to be a villain” i am almost sure that he was talking about shigaraki and he said villain who can be saved story should get reward? idk maybe he will surprise us? maybe he will save him cause his story is telling me he will be saved but this interview made me confused. hopefully he can do something really amazing.
https://savetenko.tumblr.com/post/185456913512/bnha-redemption-why-you-shouldnt-hate-redemption
redemption doesnt mean that he wont pay his crimes. feeling remorse is the best punishment that can happen. it will also the person s himself to him finding the right way.
why i write this? i talked a lot of people and a lot of people dont want redemption for shigaraki but weird part is i never met someone who looks the big picture here. people who dont want redemption for shigaraki:
-people who ignores the fact that shigaraki is completely victim who had no choice and every could be like him,
-people who dont care shigaraki s character and not even trying to understand,
-people who love shigaraki as an evil but they cant face the fact that shigaraki is NOT happy as a villain at all. they sees LoV as a normal family and they thought they are happy together but its so unrealistic. if they were really hapy, if shigaraki was happy, his hearth wouldnt be empty and he would loose his reason to being a villain so :) and not even need to talk about, big posibility its not shigaraki s origin so its not real shigaraki
-people who sees somethings but not full things, well i think am a little carefull about these things. i never met someone who saw all things. yeah some people understand that shigaraki s abuse or maybe parallels with eri or kota maybe? but no one talked about deku s similirtiy with hana and no one said LoV isnt family. i mean its like everybody has some peace but no one has big picture. thats why i wanted to show this
there is no hope for shigaraki? its impossible? its too late? i dont believe that. its never too late to save someone.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3taZqA0FTQ0
“hero’s job...is to risk his life to make the lip service into reality” cause its all about. there will be times that even me, everyone ‘bnha fans, shigaraki, deku allmight, everyone) will giving up on shigaraki s redemption cause story will be go so far (maybe redemption hints will decrease or increase) but when we thought that its too impossible, arent the heroes the ones who should give us a hope? isnt this all about?
(and in the future, we will all forget this maybe cause shigaraki who is evil, monster now will do a lot of bad things, he will laugh, he will kill, he will destroy (specially after he learnt about afo, he will be more dangerous than before and it will be really scary but tenko, his real self always be there even though we dont always see it. and more importantly,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
nothing can change tenko s despair. nothing will change that horrible past. he didnt choose this fate, didnt want to be like that. its not what he really wants, i believe. well, nothing will change the fact that he didnt deserve this and he deserves better than this. the posibility that he could be happy, hero, have better life, better person, someone like nana. this posibility will always exist. nothing will change that despair eyes of tenko. so he will always be worth of being saved. not only cause of its so tragic, its also cause of simply, his horrible tragic backstory (his all life) made him like this. story will change and go so far but never forget that tenko s despair, his hopeless, empty dead hearth and his INFINITE PAIN.)
and if you really think about what hero means, answer is simple. deku should save tenko. listen this music. this music is giving me a hope sometimes. :))). this is so obvious. this is what it should happen and hopefully it can happen:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRkIQ1Djlbs
when your hopes gone about shigaraki s redemption, read this and let me be your hope. let this theory be your hope. cause i will do that. :). hopefully, our hopes wont be wasted :’))). i really hope that. hopefully, everything will be fair, happy and good. hopefully. :)’D
(there might be things that i forgot to to tell but for now, thats it. if you read everything, thanks and hopefully you got me. if you like it, please reblog it. i dont care being famous but i hope a lot of people can see this.)

hey uhhh YKNO WHATS GOOD brainstorming potential headcanons for a character you know NOTHING ABOUT
i guess its less headcanons and more like.. wishes? hopes? what i think would be cool to do with this dude and like ALL I KNOW is that he is a cool dude and apparantly he doesnt have a backstory or sympatheticness SO consider what if he did and maybe thatd be cooler. like dude he owns THE SINGLE BEST BOSS BATTLE THEME IN ALL VIDEOGAMES EVER and that is ALL I KNOW ABOUT HIM and i just want him to deserve it, yo. also if he turned good i could be his friend and some of the badassness would rub off on me
ANYWAY
COOL SQUID PRESIDENT
Tumblr media
i would vote for this man as squesident
seriously the design is SO GOOD!!! how did they manage to get such a cool colourscheme out of his entire Thing being that he has no colours?? like damn i like white being used as an evil colour for once, thanks. it symbolizing emptyness and emotionlessness is like BIG YES and i really hope thats what they were going for cos apparantly the wiki says that all the yokai who join his “we should never be friends with humans” gang turn colourless to match? but like the dude himself is less plain white and more very light shades of blue, grey and gold. MAYBE REFLECTS THAT HE IS A MANIPULATIVE DOUCHE WHO MAYBE DOESNT REALLY CARE ABOUT YOKAI AND JUST WANTS TO RULE THE WORLD PERHAPS dammit why does everything about him scream “great 100% evil guy who is very scary” when man I WANT TO LIKE HIM, DAMMIT!!
ALSO SERIOUSLY the visual effect of the wild spirally red yellow eyes against an otherwise “peaceful” colour whose entire point as an evil is “peaceful” taken to a bad extreme. it REALLY immediately sells that “tries to pretend to be calm, collected and fancy but is actually an angry mofo at heart” vibe i got from his theme song??? I REALLY HOPE THATS ACTUALLY HOW THIS COOL BOSS BATTLE GOES DOWN cos man the best villains are smug asshles who Always Win and then when you FINALLY win you get that much of a better ending!!! but AGH another part of me is like “i hope im wrong because he looks like a Cool Dad and i want him to be good”. Maybe his true design concept was to betray me personality with using all his cool dad power for evil...?
ALSO im not gonna spoil you guys on it cos it is JUST AS AMAZING AS HIS SONG but i was toooootally right that he has some sort of super intimidating second form and its got THE COOLEST DESIGN EVER HOLY SHIT! and also apprantly there’s a recoloured bonus boss called Minister Squisker who’s like a colour swap in a really creative way?? it swaps him being all “blank” themed with scary bright eyes and instead his entire body is a wild ye olde mythological illustration style paint job in every colour ever. okay COOL HEADCANON NUMBER ONE thats actually the regular colour of the species and mckraken is the white sheep of the family lol
also UHHH i dunno it seems kinda weird to me that theyd have this dude running a goddamn political party about humans being bad yet he doesnt seem to have any motivation whatsoever for it? unless it really is just supposed to be ‘he only pretends he wants to protect yokai from humans so he can manipulate and rule the yokai’. but like HYPOTHETICALLY in some universe where he actually lives up to his Grumpy Dad Who Has A Hidden Soft Spot potential, maybe he has an understandable backstory that raises legitimate concerns about how humans are destroying the natural and mythological and forgetting their roots, or other reasonable reasons why yokai could think humans are dangerous and all. i mean we ARE dangerous, we’re just a wide group of people that contain evil bastards and also good people, yknow. And thatd resonate well as a plot probably, cos well the whole point of the series is “in real life ur scared of yokai but theyre actually all goofy pranksters who will be your best friend forever”. Both sides being afraid of each other could lead to some good plotness! and it could be really effective and sad if after hours of joyous childhood wonder the protagonist bumps into the first yokai they couldnt befriend. the first one thats scared of them. the first member of this weird colourless political party who accuses them of committing crimes against yokaikind, of obviously only enslaving these yokai friends cos you have an ulterior motive, just like all humans! it could be effective if its something that shakes up the whole way you saw the world and establishes that hey its not all fun and happiness, and there’s some people you are powerless to convince. maybe even some people you are powerless to save...?
ANYWAY possible idea for ‘what if the dude originally had a sympathetic motive but it got twisted over time and now he’s just a fuck BUT maybe he could still be redeeminated someday ok thanks” What if he’s the spirit of.. like.. ocean pollution? Like there’s some yokai who are ghosts of a mortal person but theres some that are just nature spirits or personifications of concepts. What if he’s the personification of the dying screams of all the wildlife killed in a particular tragic oil spill? hence squid = thematic, and blank white colourscheme = even more thematic reflecting the stain the oil would leave on a pristine ocean and also the blank emotionlessness he was left as after witnessing that tragedy. Cos like his entire Purpose would have been born out of avenging anger but i mean he was just a kid, the only one left alive on a ruined beach and seeing just how powerful humans were and how pointless it would be to try and fight them with his weak power. like he was born to avenge all these souls and he just keeps failing!! his entire reason to live and he’s just too small!! so he ends up becoming bitter and cynical and learning how to use his silver tongue to manipulate others into becoming his weapons, and he vows that someday he’s gonna come back when he has the power he needs to complete his mission. and he’s just forever had this anger seething inside that he’s been unable to get any catharsis from, so when his cold and collected persona cracks he’s really damn scary with all these years of a man who’s grown old fearing he’ll never be able to avenge his ocean friends and just AAAAAA! itd be really good cos itd be a way he could still be intimidating and high stakes as a boss fight but also sympathetic!! also it could make sense why he’d only be redeemable after defeating him? like this entire time he’s been hidden behind a million layers of politics and minions and stuff and its very easy for him to not see the reality of the fact that he’s terrorizing human children just like how humans scarred him as a child. so like his whole big second form transformation super anger mode time would be sort of a last ditch attempt to deny what he already knows, the doubts that have been eating away at his soul now he’s getting close to the end of his life goal. but also like.. he doesnt even know who he IS, under the lies! its been his entire purpose for existing. like he probably uhh.. didnt have much plans after his victory. he probably wouldnt have much will to live left. so yeah you basically beat up this guy’s emotional walls and make him face the face of the people he’s been hurting, when he’s been trying to avoid it for so long. and he gets to see how much all the other yokai genuinely trust you and how much youre personally sacrificing to protect them so maybe you really arent just lying about being a good person...
oh also i was thinking about the inherant hypocrisy present in the fact that this guy is a big spoopy REALLY WELL DESIGNED squid monster that spends all his time in a depowered humansona instead, despite his whole Thing being hating humans. and, yknow, ‘i’ll solve this using a carbon copy of human politics instead of any more traditionally magical way of fighting the humans’. Yeah. So THEORY of SADNESS maybe he like never actually met any other yokai for a long time? I dont think it really makes sense that he’d be hypocritical because he secretly likes humans or something, that wouldnt jive with this backstory idea. So im thinking another explanation could be that he genunely doesnt know much about yokai culture? Like cos of his backstory he just poofed into existance on this destroyed beach in the human world and spent the first few centuries of his life completely alone except for the terrifying monsters that haunted every second of his life, and the knowledge that it was his purpose to defeat them but he didnt know how. And he was a nature spirit of the sea but his sea was empty of everything except death, so he couldnt even hug a cute fish sidekick or something- OH GOD WHAT IF HE DID HAVE A CUTE FISH SIDEKICK AND IT DIED COS OF HUMANS!!! very tiny sad squid monster child holding a dead pet, oh god why did my heart did this to meeee!! so yeah he didnt even know he was a yokai or wtf yokai are, he didnt know anywhere outside the tiny rock pool he would hide in on this barren beach. And then someday he gets found by an older yokai and adopted and like he feels like he owes them so much cos they gave him a reason to live, and a connection to the nature that he was supposed to protect, and.. well.. any companionship at all ever. So thats how his directionless “humans are bad” turned into “yokai are good and i need to protect them from humans like i failed to protect the beach” which turned into “i need to get more power to do this” which turned into manipulating other yokai and seeing them as nothing more than tools to take down the humans, his revenge consuming him until he barely remembered the reasons he originally wanted to do it...
and blablabla thats where we bring in the recolour bonus boss also, and say thats the nice grandpa figure who adopted him when he was all lost and trapped in the human world. and cos he was sorta adopted into nobility thats why he’s so over the top with his pompousness, its like a hint of IM LOVV MY GRANDEPA shining through his grumpface. ALSO maybe a sad situation where the gramps saw his kid growing up into this scary extremist and he tried to reason with him that humans dont need to be destroyed and that led to them fighting and him getting sealed off in recolour bonus boss land. and mckraken sees it as the biggest betrayal of his life and it totally threw him off the slippery slope to feel like the one man he trusted the most was a traitor to yokai all along. but even at his most evil he couldnt bear to actually kill his beloved gramps so he just imprisoned him and tries to stop thinking about it but like THE CONSTANT SPECTRE OF THE GUILT HANGS OVER YOUR HEAD THAT YOU DID YOU GRAMPS WRONGGGG So yehmaybe protag could find the gramps guy and hear about the sad backstory via him and then defeat mckraken and make him realise he was wrong and he apologises to his gramps and atones and all the humans and yokai are friends again and BUNNI CRIES FOREVER the end
cos seriously man this guy’s design is too good to be wasted on a hateable!! srsly he’s like that archetypical goofy big beard chubby pirate dude BUT INTIMIDATING AND BADASS AND COOL FASHION AND DAVY JONES SQUID BEARD SQUEARD I LOVE HIM he is too round to be 100% evil
*slams fists on the table* IF YOU DONT LIVE UP TO MY EXPECTATIONS I AM GONNA CRY
aaa i need to stop just sitting here theorizing about this game and actually friggin play it lolllll

im honestly just. really tired of people screwing me over and then acting like im the only asshole in the room. i own up to my fuckups, i take responsibility, and i try to be mature in handling situations. am i perfect? fuck fucking no. but i shouldnt feel ASHAMED of talking about my feelings on my own blog on the offchance someone is hate-lurking and poised to point and go, “see! youre talking bad about me so you ARE the evil villain monster bad guy of my personal story!”
cant people just be normal? i fucked up a friendship, i hurt someone i cared about, and we couldnt continue on because of what i did. i was an asshole, i was really unsure about my emotions and life decisions at a very unstable and vulnerable point in my life. how i handled that hurt someone that was ready to grow closer, and that was fucked up of me. i wont say that he doesnt have a right to be upset, he very much does, and our entire relationship was a clusterfuck. but... i really dont think i like the way things ended. maybe it was what he needed to feel better about it all, but i just dont think its mature or really morally acceptable to tell off every single person thats fucked up in your life. it wasnt “you really hurt me and i dont think i can forgive you, so im not going to speak to you anymore and i want you to leave me alone” it was “youre a liar” and “you dont deserve friends if this is how you treat them” when he knew that i have a serious fear of being a shitty person. not even to mention the weird thing he did where he added me to his group chat of friends, i told him about shitty past friends that ruined gcs for me, and then as soon as i do something wrong, i get removed so he can chat shit about me to complete strangers as if im a malicious abuser out to get him specifically. im a human fucking being and actually? i dont think im going to lie down and fucking take that shit anymore. cyrus, if youre reading this, stay off of my blog and learn to communicate maturely, because that fucking hurt me too and i dont think i wil bend over backwards to try and give you reasons why im worth keeping around. im not going to beg for anything from you and all i hope for you is that you get better, get better friends, and learn to communicate with them without acting like youre telling off a monster deserving of every vile, hurtful thing you can think of saying to them. goodbye.
