In Jason’s dreams, Bruce doesn't look like this.

Hard and pale eyed, cloaked in dark kevlar and darker intentions, more blood than he is man. His dreams are pearl blue, like the man behind the mask.

Jason's throat is so arid, so tight, watching the dark border separating him from Crime Alley. He's never been afraid of home. Not until now.

“Wait—”

But he is not Jason, and this is not Bruce. Not Batman, either. This is what remains when a son dies.

Batman knows he's scared. He always knows when they're scared. Criminals, rogues, monster or man.

He never realized, jus how much Bruce softened his voice , when he wore the cloak around his Jay. Now he does.

Batman sounds like the world died on his tongue.

“Get in the alley.”

Red Hood doesn’t shake, but Jason does, inside his mind, where it matters most.

“Why?” He whispers back, praying his voice processor doesn't reveal the fear behind it. “You can't kill me.”

He says it like an accusation because it is.

Batman considers him with icy apathy, walking and walking, like a horseman of destruction with a target and aim.

Jason doesn't realize his body moves backwards.

“Exactly.”

So I just thought of a weird AU for Epic, which I'm not sure if I'll expand upon further, but I just wanna put out there so here it is:

Eurylochus discovers Odysseus's plan to use 6 men as bait so the rest could survive Scylla, and has the crew mutiny before they go through the lair. The crew decides that the primary goal isn't even to get home anymore but to survive, and they can't do that if Poseidon is still pissed at them, making it hard to sail anywhere. So the crew reluctantly agrees to make a deal to hand over Ody to Poseidon to do with as he likes so that they could be free to go. Eurylochus makes one final desperate plea as a contingency to the deal, because Ody is his brother-in-law and was his closest friend, to not kill him.

Poseidon is super petty and agrees, trying to further push that angle of cruelty being better than mercy, and this "mercy" is retribution for letting Polyphemus live in agony. Furthermore, for being so cheeky about the hiding-within-a-horse thing he pulled at Troy, Poseidon transforms Ody into a hippocampus, a sort of aquatic horse with a fish tail. This is to taunt him as he could swim all the way to Ithaca and see his home, but be cursed to never be able to leave the water. This also ensures that in this form, Penelope would never recognize Odysseus and that he'd be alone forever.

A short while later, back at Ithaca, a fair number of the suitors' boats suddenly start getting attacked, with many of them drowned by some mysterious and powerful creature. One day, a 13-year-old Telemachus spots a strange creature in the distance, swimming some distance from the shore, and decides to investigate. He rows out on his own and tries to get a glimpse, only to be surprised by a very excited, inquisitive, and surprisingly friendly aquatic horse

I don't know where to go from there but if anyone out there wants to do anything with it, go for it :)

I personally think that if Carter got with any Greek person Horus would be so pissed because “I HAVE SO MANY PERFECTLY GOOD FOLLOWERS AND YOU HAD TO CHOOSE A GREEK?!” but in a very Horus manner (I haven’t read the books in a while sorry) because he is still bitter about the Greeks

It’s a bit of both. If Carter had fallen for any other Greek it would be a much bigger problem between the two of them but even Horus can grudgingly admit that the little nymph is something truly different from any Greek he has ever known… and it doesn’t hurt that Percy is Percy and her brand of chaos would appeal to… most war gods.

That being said Carter never hears the end of choosing a Greek of all people and there’s a lot of mental muttering about Carter attempting to ruin Egypt right after saving it whenever Percy isn’t in direct eyeshot.

recently, Epic: The Musical has given me brainworms, so here are a few doodles about how my brain has decided to visualize

I went swimming with my friends, and they kept saying “get in the water.” I could not go two seconds without thinking about Epic the Musical lmao

thinking about the Percy Jackson show and how I, humbly, think fan-critics are missing the forest for the trees when they complain it’s not a perfect adaptation. What’s really neat about the show is watching a creator have the opportunity to revisit and perfect a 20-year-old work - I mean, how cool is that?? How interesting is it to make notes of the places where the story & its details diverge to make a new whole! The places where Rick agreed “these story beats are still important” versus the ones that have - frankly - been improved, or at least changed. From an art-appreciator’s standpoint I really really enjoy that.
