Watching the PJO TV show made me rethink a lot of the scenes in the books…

Mostly just how young all the demigods really were. Seeing the actors really put things into perspective, and then I started thinking about the second series and how Nico, younger than all of them, has seen TWO wars by 14 years old.

The scene where he sees Percy at Camp Jupiter, what do you think is running through Nico’s head? He’s barely a teenager, he has this huge crush on this incredibly scary and powerful demigod, and he knows he has to pretend he doesn’t know him because Nico isn’t supposed to be here at this camp…

What do you think was his first emotion? Scared for a war he knows is now coming? Elated that Percy is alive? Horrified that this guy, seemingly the center of everything that has gone wrong for him, is showing up in his life again? Do you think he stopped to consider how serious Percy looked? How different he seems not surrounded by his mother and Annabeth and all of his friends? Do you think he thought about spilling it all and telling Percy who he is? Because Nico is 14 and should not be responsible for a choice like that, and because there’s so little he wouldn’t do for Percy? Do you think it crossed his mind that this Percy, with no memories, might be a Percy he has a chance with? Do you think he beat himself up over that thought for weeks? Do you think he had a hard time looking Annabeth in the eyes when he saw her again, knowing how hopeful he was that Percy would never get his memories back? Even if it was for a second?

…Can you tell I’ve been turning this scene over in my head all day?

They really are very hard to deal with. Just imagine living all your life in a dysfunctional emotionally abusive family environment, then suddenly you become aware that everything you thought was normal was actually toxic. It's rough.

I've been a bit mia as I've been sick. The one time I decided to take time off from work and rest even though I am a full time caregiver, I got sick. Now I'm on PTO while fully sick and still caregiving while also being emotionally abused. Can I just say F it all and to everyone, just walk out and never return? The KA11AA-8A04AA Andriod, developed by CyberLife, is a prototype model, constructed with the purpose of 'collecting, storing, and dispensing knowledge'.

Mx. Medicine Pocket (Do not ask what their actual name is) was the one who received the andriod, and they looked at the name given, said 'fuck that', and started to call her Kaalaa Buanaa. Much simpler.

She's helpful, but...

"Are you positive that you are aware of the risk, Mx. Pocket?"

...She just can't understand their genius.

"Call me MedPoc, dammit. And second, what risk?" Medicine Pokcet gestured to the indoor crane they had made. "It's perfect! I mean, come on, you can't deny that!"

"I believe I can. And, I will." Kaalaa Buanaa replied, the small circle on the side of her head spinning. "I have seen you create numerous projects, and you are injured Ninety-Seven Percent of the time."

"Hey, I like those odds," Medcine Pocket rolled their eyes. "Alright then, scan it. Go ahead."

Kaalaa Buanaa looked at the crane and, after a second, spoke again, "I have seen One Hundred and Twenty-Three potential hazards."

"..." Medicine Pocket was about to deny it again... but in the end, sighed. "Ugh, FINE. Tell me the problems. I'll get them sorted."

"To start..."

"...That is the final problem." Kaalaa Buanaa commented, as Medicine Pocket collapsed in a chair nearby.

"I feel like I'm gonna die." they breathed heavily, with Kaalaa Buanaa raising a brow.

"But--?"

"It's a figure of speech." Medicine Pocket immediately said back. "...Just... can you get me like, a soda or something?"

She nodded, and left them.

Medicine Pocket has had the android (technically, gynoid) for a few months, and has mixed feelings.

On one hand, she's annoying, helping make his work 'ethical', and causing him massive headaches.

On the other hand...

They sighed.

On the other hand... they were a big help, in that regard. Plus, she's good company.

They sighed again, placing their head in their hands.

Feelings. They hated them.

But, they could never hate Kaalaa.
