child mortality rates were so high in the 1840s and 1850s that when I see record of someone who’s (documented) children all survived into adulthood I’m like “wow. how the fuck did you do that.”
also there is this idea that parents just cared less about their children back then because they died so often but the many many many accounts of mothers and fathers holding their gravely ill children all night not sure if their next breath would be their last. that loss was the greatest fear then just as it is now and just as it seemed to be in Paleolithic times. they compartmentalized their grief to survive but that didn’t mean they felt it any less keenly.

Phagenda predictions
Realistic:
- Joint memoir
- Merch
- Feature length video project (could be fiction, could be non-fiction)
- Podcast
Unrealistic:
- Tour (not enough planning time)
- Re-brand (this much hype for something like that is not like them)
- A Dan and Phil Sims pack (lowkey could realistically be this but feels wild to actually put it in that category)
- Video series about what it's been like behind the scenes all this time/the reality of what it's like to be some of the first youtubers to go mainstream (while closeted).
- Wedding anouncement/video
Demon:
- V-day vid reaction
- The Vegas video

So I said I was going to explain so hear me out. I was looking at this twitter thread and realized something, guys, this is a queer ending.
Do you all remember Korrasami? This is that ending! Korrasami wasn't explicitly canon til the end, and even then, that scene had to still be confirmed romantic afterward. Yes, looking lovingly at another while entering another realm is romantic, but it's not a kiss, it's not a confession, and while so many saw it without confirmation, it could so easily be shoved aside as platonic.
I've been racking my brain trying to figure out how this seemingly generic ending made Bones handle the anime adaptation differently. We can think about alternative endings, about phrasing but maybe it just has to do with that final scene. Horikoshi didn't need to have Katsuki reaching out his hand the parell at the end was towards Izuku receiving his power. Didn't need to emphasize Katsuki's involvement with the project, but he did. He did all this. And Bones knew they couldn't shy away from what even the Japanese fanbase has deemed a marriage proposal. They knew they had to emphasize Katsuki's importance, and haven't you noticed how much more they have done so. Korrasami's cannon moments aren't filled with blushes but the closeness of their relationship. Queer ships, especially before them, had their moments in the in-between in looking at the analysis we make. Call it cope, call it whatever, but I refuse to believe these moments don't mean something. He could have so easily ended the series with All Might giving him the suit. Katsuki didn't have to reach out in the end. If he wanted an opening ending he could have had the whole of 1A there reaching out for him or even just skip to the ending scene with everyone. He could have had Ochako, but no, he emphasized Katsuki. You realize that if Ochako had reached out and told him to go with her, there would be no denying the implication there. There are a couple of things I wished from the ending, but we ultimately won. If Korrasami was never confirmed that ending scene would still be pretty romantic. If all a ship needs to be canon and make sense within the story is the author's approval, I think that ship is at least heavily implied.

@jegulus-microfic May 8 // prompt: silk // warnings: small hints to past nsfw // Words: 352
"Where are you going?"
James pauses at the door, face going pale and his hands admittedly start to sweat a little as he holds both the map and has the cloak draped over his arm. He slowly turns to Sirius. Oh his best friend, Padfoot, one of his favorite people on Earth.
"Out. Talking a walk. Can't sleep." His response is clipped and he's fidgeting where he stands, shifty and he knows it because he also knows he can't lie for shit. Especially not to Pads.
But he has plans. Plans with a wonderful boy who has grey eyes and soft skin and silk sheets and makes such pretty noises underneath him.
Who also just so happens to be Sirius' estranged brother. Sirius who, despite their distance, is still really over protective when it comes to said estranged brother.
Sirius squints at him for a few seconds and James has the urge to run but Padfoot just shrugs. James doesn't hesitate before he's out the door, sloppily throwing the cloak over himself and pulling out the map, muttering the password as he speed walks down the halls. He can't help but smile as he catches the name Regulus A. Black. They're not anything, no labels (or at least not yet), but that doesn't stop James' heart from beating quickly as he thinks about freckles that decorate pale skin. The blush on his features that will hopefully only get worse and worse throughout the night.
He thinks about the bruise-able skin and how Regulus' hair sticks to his skin when wet or sweaty.
James slips upstairs and takes a turn before opening a door. He sees Regulus startle and as soon as it's closed James pulls off the cloak.
Only seconds after that there's soft lips pressing against his own and he can't help but groan at the feeling. He pulls back slightly, turning his head when Regulus follows which instead causes the younger to kiss at his neck.
"Hello, love." He already sounds slightly out of it, "Missed me?"
Regulus nods slightly as he peppers more kisses against his skin.
"Missed you."

Valentine’s Meat Juice is like my pet turn of the century medicine, not just because it’s a weird Virginia classic. The best part is that as ridiculous as it sounds, I’m sure it genuinely saved lives in a time before intravenous fluids or TPN. In a time where ‘invalid food’ was widely bread water, I’m sure a nutrient dense distillation of beef, blood and egg whites made the difference between life and death in some cases.

unpopular fandom opinion: fic rec blogs
i don't follow any, nor will i ever. i follow blogs with the hope that they'll reblog the fics they love to their main account, which is more than likely the one that has more followers and interaction.
i had a fic rec blog back in the day. eventually, i realized that the fics i would reblog solely to that account would only be seen by a fraction of people compared to the number of followers and interactions i have on my main blog.
it's something to consider since fandom interaction is dying a slow death. in my opinion, the only way a fic rec blog makes sense is if you also reblog the fic to your main account.
