Putting in some work on restoring pelvic function with some hip C.A.R.s (Controlled Articulated Rotations) a la @functionalrangeconditioning / @kinstretch - and experimented with incorporating shoulder rotations as well emphasizing trunk stability and minimizing movement compensations. ⏯ A series of wrist mobility drills, hand prep, plus shoulder and arm movements. 1️⃣ “Magnetic Wrists” I learned from @mikefitch.af at the Animal Flow training weekend. A meditative way to start connecting with the hands. 2️⃣ Shoulder circles. Scapula CAR (controlled articular rotation). A nice way to oil up the shoulder blades! This and the following ones are from FRC. 3️⃣ Wrist rotation. Block forearm from turning. Express slow, smooth, controlled articulation of wrist joint. This one never gets old, and always remains tough to do. 4️⃣ Fist/ Wrist circles. @jessica teaches this one a lot in her classes. and I’ve been hooked since day one. 5️⃣ Full arm ROM (range of motion) with axial rotation at the shoulder joint. As the arm makes the arch resist chest turning or ribs lifting. This one is like a daily vitamin and a game changer for my asana practice. 6️⃣ Hand lifts and wrists circles on the grounds. What is “Internal Training”? @champtraining Internal Training is a type of specialized training that is dedicated to improving articular (joint) capacity, resilience, robustness, and intelligence. Humans are non-linear, self-organizing, constantly evolving, COMPLEX ADAPTIVE SYSTEMS with numerous feedback loops that display emergent behavior. DYNAMIC SYSTEMS THEORY can help us understand movement as continuous flow and change. The skill of movement is controlled by constraints: physical and informational. In an effort to prevent injury and enhance performance, we need to focus on improving the physical constraints first. Where do we start? Daily application of a CARs (Controlled Articular Rotations) routine may be the best way to maintain joint health and independence. Dedicating a few minutes of effort each day towards the exploration of your joint’s capacity (WORKSPACE) to move independently and under control can provide significant information about the tissue’s functional mobility, strength capacity, and joint health. Embracing the system by specifically training each joint independently with increasing loads/efforts will result in the adaptation of trained tissue to increase their ability to actively control and achieve larger ranges of motion with greater loads/efforts. Therefore, the increase in strength and control over larger ranges of motion decrease the likelihood of injury in the tissues trained range of motion. An Athletes Guide: The Couch Stretch —————————————— The Couch Stretch is often at the top of my list both pre-workout as movement prep, and in a regen setting as posturally restorative pose. —————————————— Often for athletes the length tension relationship between the superficial front line (think quadriceps and hip flexors) & the the superficial back line (think hamstrings and spinal errectors) can develop into an anterior tilt of he pelvis (think tailbone lifting) —————————————— Anterior Pelvic Tilt by itself is not necessarily a bad or incorrect posture. It becomes problematic only when it starts to limit/exacerbate movement at the hip or lumbar. —————————————— Joint independence before interdependence is a key concept of @functionalrangeconditioning. Kinstretch certification in San Jose in the books. Just need to coach and record a full class to submit, and then I will be officially registered to teach it. I love learning new things and expanding my toolkit, and the functional range system has by far the most useful and applicable certifications I've received (and this is my 6th I think?) - all trainer friends, highly recommend. Worth the investment 10 times over, literally. 🤸♂️ Kinstretch is an applicable combination of the methods and principles taught to functional range conditioning mobility specialists (FRCms). It is most commonly used in a group setting of multiple clients with the main goal being to help them optimize their human movement by improving end ranges of motion, motor control, and resilience of tissues / joints (and other cool stuff). Basically it's a class designed to help make your shit work nice. 🤸♂️ Kinstretch is an incredibly effective tool to help make you more bulletproof, but it requires certain prerequisites to ensure correct / safe execution. Make sure you find a functional range conditioning mobility specialist like myself to guide you on your movement journey cuz we all climbin and together we rise, fam! ✊ Shout out to the mutant skwad @deweynielsen and @hunterfitness for the bang up job, good to see you fellas again and hopefully next time it will be in Maui lolz. #throwbackthursday to Charles de Gaulle airport where I had a brief layover in transit to Oslo. After 10 hours in a plane I needed a little mobility work. After my full body CARs, I decided to work on Squat depth. If you look closely you can see the depth after each contraction. There was a time where this depth (even supported) would have been tragic on my knee. Happy that I've worked through some of this. Using these concepts in conjunction with things I learned in Oslo at AFM is gonna be great. Met up with @progressivemotionpt today too and I'm excited to learn and collaborate with him as well. The future is looking amazing. You can't stop my flow. I will keep #movingthepeople in the direction of health. Although I have an affinity towards Maces, remember that tools are only tools. Shoulder Prehab (Clickbait Edition)
No matter if you’re a pro athlete or just someone trying to master everyday life painfree - you want to make sure to build strong and resilient shoulders.
What I‘m doing here is trying to increase movement capacity and exploring weak spots in my current range of motion as well as strengthening my shoulders in angles you easily overlook in „regular“ strength training.
These exercises are by far my favourite when it comes to shoulder mobility, so make sure to give them a try 🙌🏻

🛑SMALL ADJUSTMENTS MAKE THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE🛑 . A common issue with planks is pain and fatigue in the shoulders. Everyone knows to keep a flat back and core strong during a plank (and if you didn’t know now you do!) but what we don’t hear about is shoulder position💫 . Engaging the serratus, the muscle you see being utilized in the above video, is helpful for stabilizing the shoulder and avoiding impingement of the shoulder 👏🏻 . This small difference of “pushing your chest away” will allow for space to be created in the shoulder and individuals with pain or pinching in the shoulder is often released 🤯 . Additionally, the serratus is a muscle that is often under utilized! So strengthening it will allow for improved shoulder stability and health . Hope this helps you guys! PowerBands are so effective because they can allow the individual to do different types of stretching exercises, providing even more health benefits. 💁🏽The first advantage of working with a resistance band is that it allows doing stretching exercises anywhere and at any time. 🤸🏽They can be attached to a pole, to a door, making it possible for the person to train and perform different types of stretches. 🔹In this video I’m demonstrating the basic of upper body stretching with rubber band, working on triceps, chest, delts, biceps, lats.. but there are thousands of variation and I’ve made a video available on YouTube with the full demonstration (link in bio🔝) ✔️Holding the stretch for a sustained period of time until feeling a slight discomfort, increasing muscle relaxation and flexibility.It is important to remember that these exercise routines have to be done in the right way and following professional guidance. practicing consistent and controlled stretching routines with resistance bands will help to achieve a healthier body while improving muscle and joint condition. 🔴Perform these stretches after a workout or throughout the day for improved flexibility and relaxation. Stretch to your level of comfort. The stretches should not be painful. Hold each stretch for at least 15 seconds and repeat each stretch if you have time. It's great to do these stretches when your muscles are warm if possible. Take a short walk or do some light movement exercises prior to stretching.
