Hi Comet! Do you have any advice on getting more involved in the Ghost fandom? I’m mostly just reblogging things because I’m too self conscious to post my original works/headcanons/etc. but I want to be more active and make friends and I’m not sure how -A

Hi!! Yes! I can do my best to help! I've been chewing on this for a little while trying to figure out what I want to say--and the best way to say it. But it still might be a little disjointed--I have a lot of thoughts. The biggest one is: talk to people. Send people asks. Reblog stuff and add your two cents. Insert yourself in conversations (this one is scary, I know). Tell people how much to love the things they're creating. You don't have to do it off anon if you don't want to, we have plenty of anons who are staples in the community who we know only by their signatures, and they're no less a part of it than people who talk off anon. This community is full of an unbelievable amount of love and support. It is constantly surprising me with just how warm it is. I love talking to people, I LOVE when new people show up in my ask box (usually at the strangest times, it's wonderful). And I will make space in this community for you--in whatever capacity you need me to. That being said.

You should post your stuff. You should post your works and your headcanons. Because those things drive conversation to you. And look. This community LOVES fics, and artwork, and headcanons. We go fucking FERAL over them. Head canons are a GREAT place to start. I could literally talk about them all day. Once I start I have to force myself to shut up. And I'm not the only one.

In fact, send ME your headcanons. I NEED THEM (do it on anon if it makes it less nerve-wracking, but I WANT them I want to talk to you about them!). And I KNOW it's terrifying. When I wrote Flip of a Switch I buried it in my documents so deep I hoped I would forget it existed and tried to tell myself that writing it was enough (it wasn't). I hadn't written fanfiction in ten years. The idea of having other people look at it made me physically ill. And then I didn't forget about it. and I looked at it. over and over again. And then, I still don't know what possessed me to do it, I posted it. And then it got a couple kudos, and no one commented on it for a LONG time (until well after I'd posted other fics). And I told myself I was done, ghost brain rot conquered (lies). But then I resurrected my ancient Tumblr, and looked at this community longingly (like pressing my face against the glass to look inside). And then I wrote another fic. And I tried to wiggle my way into conversations with varying results. And then I wrote the boot fucking fic (it's my claim to fame at this point, god damn it), and things...just...happened after that. It wasn't all the fics, but they helped. They opened up conversations and relationships. Posting my stuff made it easier to talk to people (because I had something to talk ABOUT). It's REALLY hard to take the leap. It feels impossible. I know the doubt is LOUD. But believe me, we WANT your works, we want your headcanons. We want YOU. There is more than enough room in this community for you and we are SO happy you're here. You are a part of it already, I promise you, even if you don't feel like it yet. And, if you want to share your stuff with a test audience before you put it all the way out there--you can always DM me about it (or about anything else). I'm sorry this turned into an essay. And I really hope it's helpful. And if anyone else had other advice, feel free to chime in. ♥♥

HOW TO WRITE ROMANTIC ATTRACTION FOR DUMMIES

For anyone who wants to learn, (especially aro/ACE, aspec, ect.)

Alrighty! Welcome back or welcome to my blog! I'm dipping my toes back into the category of posts that gained me my exposure!

So if you're here, you want to know how to write romantic attraction/romance!

Strap in and let's begin!

(Pls spread this to people you think would benefit from seeing it, or anyone who requested it bc I forgot, ANY ASPECS)

Step one -

Your characters must admire one another at the beginning, Romantic feelings usually do not present themselves as obvious until you really think them through, meaning your characters may not notice they have a crush until it's too late

These are general statistics and light stereotypes. So feel free to not use this tip:

Male characters usually tend to notice physical things first, like body shape, hair, skin, clothing, the way their lover moves, ect

And Female Characters Generally tend to notice more small things and personality-based traits first, like their lover's humor, speaking mannerisms, shifts in expression, ways they fidget, emotion in their voice, ect.

And someone who is in love will generally show more interest in this particular person's movements, actions, words, and anything in general.

Step 2 -

The character will show more interest in sharing their love language with their lover/crush

Physical touch - People with physical touch love languages may want to hold hands, cuddle, hug, or just lean on their crush whenever they are close to them moreso than they want to with others

Gift giving - Gift givers will want to get more gifts more often for their crush, probably thinking of them whenever they see little trinkets or wanting to get them big gifts for special occasions or signs of appreciation

Acts of Service - Acts of service people will offer to do extra favors and a bunch of extra stuff they don't have to do twice as much as normal

Words of Affirmation - Flattery, they will generally flood their crush with kind words and compliments

Quality time - Quality time people will want to spend time with their crush at almost every turn, and when they want company, will turn to their crush first

Step 3 -

After a while, these urges while become very prominent and more noticeable to the person having them

They may find themselves fantasizing about their crush or having them show up in their thoughts more and more, feeling nicer and happier when they're around, or when they're thinking about them

Smiling when they think about them, cutsey little fluff thingies like that

A crush is essentially: I want to date that, I want to be near that always, I want to marry that, I want that to snuggle me (or other love languages)

Or in simpler terms: if that asked me out, I would say yes (or at least want to say yes if your character is in denial)

Step 4 -

The character's urges to be close to this person grows strong enough that they do smth about it, whether prompted by another character. Or they just don't know I how to not anymore (like when you wanna eat candy and you don't want to, but you do anyway bc I JUST NEED THE CHOCOLATE OKAY?)

(Or for Aro/Ace, garlic bread)

People who are in love are generally very prone to be all dreamy and poetic and VERY EXTREMELY BIASED towards their crush

Then Yada Yada they kiss & shit

what if the ghouls are just souls inhabiting bodies and What if summoning a ghoul requires a human vessel, meaning the clergy just randomly takes people. what if some group of people just was trying to summon demons for fun and ended up being a vessel or they just ran off quickly leaving the soul of the ghoul just to wander for eternity without a body.

Character idea- a medium runs an antique store and helps ghosts who haunt old objects move onto the after life. One of these ghosts haunts a 1950's rotary telephone and the medium is able to talk to her through the phone specifically but this ghost refuses to move on. Obviously they're lesbians.

Also there's a poltergeist who haunts the store and is just a pest that knocks shit over. The medium never sees the poltergeist (because ghosts can choose to allow her to see them) and so she thinks he's just an annoying pest. Turns out the poltergeist is a ghost cat just doing cat shit.

Ayo anon! Hello! i’d say, you should try posting your stuff! I do and i was really scared at first of what i’d get but it was all just very positive cause we’re honestly just a fandom of very wholesome and horny people! And it’s cool if you stay anon, there’s still ways to make friends that way! For example, i have a few friends on my main blog and i always stay anon cause i’m too fricking socially anxious to be off anon, yet there are still plenty of people i can enjoy myself with and that i appreciate and i think they appreciate me! So it really doesn’t take a lot, just try something, eventually you’ll get more and more comfortable, don’t worry! <3 -🪱
