We should have met meph much sooner in game. <3 his hating ass
One of the things I like so much about Mephisto is that his existence along with Astaroth and uhh Lucifugous (?? i think that was their name) is referenced pretty early on in the game. That's definitely one of the highlights of seasons 1 and 4 to me: That the world (and RAD specifically) feels full of other people (demons?) that our cast interacts with (And in Satan and Asmo's cases, are even friends with). I talk about this more briefly on my main but this is defo one of the reasons that Mephisto stands out to me and is one of the characters I really really like in concept (In practice I like him as well but ESPECIALLY in concept I mean) like he just goes here!! There are people here that aren't on the student council or hosting exchange students and have other stuff going on in their lives !! Anyways yes we love Mephisto on this blog. He's walking around proving that Lucifer sucks. He has better hair, is a better older brother, is more pleasant and safer to be around, and has more friends than Lucifer ever will. By nature of this being a Lucifer hate account this is in part a Mephisto (and Belphie and Satan and Luke) stan account.

Grimoires & magical texts explained
Grimoires are books containing magical instructions, spells, and rituals. They have a long history, with some dating back to medieval times. These texts are often associated with occult practices, ceremonial magic, and the pursuit of esoteric knowledge. Grimoires typically include information on summoning spirits, creating protective amulets, and performing divination.
Some well-known grimoires include "The Key of Solomon," "The Lesser Key of Solomon" (Lemegeton), "The Book of Abramelin," and "The Picatrix." Grimoires are diverse, reflecting different cultural and mystical traditions. Practitioners may use them as guides for spiritual development, spellcasting, or ceremonial magic.
Grimoires often include symbols, sigils, and incantations, with practitioners using them as guides for magical workings. It's important to note that these texts are part of diverse mystical traditions, and interpretations may vary.

Personally I’m up for whatever you’d like to do, referring to your big post on alpha sapphire. Personally I really love your art!! Obviously I love seeing your gijinkas and would be sad if they disappeared completely, but I’m also curious about your other ocs! Regardless I know time/energy is limited, so you should do what makes you happy, personally I think at very least seeing the designs for alpha sapphire might be fun? Even if no comic comes with it. I granted don’t use tumblr a ton but I do stop by every once in a while just to see your art. I hope you have a good day!!
ty for the message!! i'm honored you'd just hop on here to see my stuff. i don't think i'd ever completely give up gjinkas, what i have rn feel just as much ocs to me as any "completely original" design of mine so i see myself always revisiting them. tbh what keeps me from completely dropping alpha sapphire as an idea is that i do like the plot/theme i have in mind & a lot of the character dynamics i've laid out in drafts, it really is about time and where it fits with other projects i could be doing. i guess i'm not satisfied with the thought that i'm shelving my oc groups (some that ive had for like a decade) to start something new again >_> there's probably a balance in there somewhere lol
but ANYWAYS about the designs i've done: not a lot HAS been done, its mostly been in writing. i'd say the ones that are the most "done" or close to final draft are of grimoire and clover (protagonist). others are kinda in a limbo state design-wise and i haven't focused on as much, but i can share what i've done so far. i've focused a lot on them because their dynamic has endeared itself to me. clover's on the serious, cerebral, "warrior of logic" side and grimoire is, in many regards, an agent of chaos. he has the ability to hop into peoples shadows and practically lives in hers. i'd say one of the biggest reasons i'd be sad to shelve this project is because i've had a lot of fun writing them. others shown here are finn and solaris. solaris wasn't a member of my team and is more a composite character that would fill a similar rival role of brendan/wally. if i ever did something you may expect these to change a bit (or a lot idk future me or what she's up to) i have other sketches of other characters but they're in my physical sketchbook lol

I'm buying everyone in my family books for Christmas Eve. Some are lighthearted and about birds, or etymology, art deco, or Joy Harjo poetry. I'm buying myself Volume 1 and 2 of David Rankine's Grimoire Encyclopedia. You know, just some light reading for Christmas Eve.

g0re you should put some stuff here about what you're writing it sounds really cool and I want to know more :3
nnghh i shold, i've tried many a time to actually organize all my shit into one easily digestable megadoc that i can just throw at people instead of like. actually doing a proper elevator pitch but i still have yet to complete it.
in the meantime though as for what the world actually IS - a fantasy setting defined by how much of it is dominated by these big ol' spooky woods. This region is absolutely massive, very difficult to navigate, chock full of magic, and incredibly hostile to anyone that dares to make a living within its trees! I've named it Fortune, since Fortune favors the bold.
Due to time constraints I'm not gonna go into a full history of expeditions and settlement efforts, but the TL;DR is that by the time in which the story takes place, methods of crossing the woods are in existence but they still act as a very concrete barrier for getting around. They're much more manageable in daylight and with a light source, but if you have any trip lasting longer than a day you absolutely need to have a safe place to stop at. There's a ton of little towns and safe havens along trade routes and foot paths, but getting there is often a tall order.
There's two distinct 'regions' to be concerned with, separated into two halves - the more established east half of the island, where the woods are far less dense, and where the current ruling body alongside most of the island-continent's population resides, and the settlements of the west half which are almost entirely restricted to the western coast and wherever else there's enough open area from the woods. Most of the story will take place on this western half, and more specifically in a few towns closer to the coast.
How the balance of power shakes up is a bit confusing to describe, but basically, it's that these western establishments are self-sufficient. They don't have their own full on mini-governments or kingdoms, but they also don't really answer to a higher rank. How I'd describe it is more or less like that mid-early period in Britain's colonization of America - *technically*, everyone here has an allegiance to the Crown, but who's really keeping track at this point? They're on the other side of [the ocean/the woods] and the guy that's supposed to be enforcing that doesn't really do much, might as well just go about ourselves and tend to our farms and businesses. That's more or less the crux of Fortune as a worldbuilding project, and probably the most well-established part of it so far. I'm still trying to settle on other incredibly important stuff.
Consistent technology is hard to establish - I love the aesthetics of...say, 'rustic rust', I'd call it, but I'm still trying to better define it. It's infuriating, but my biggest influences in terms of visuals are HIGHLY anachronistic in how they combine all their elements together. I would LOVE to have something like a technology level around Amulet's or Bones', or something where I could reasonably get away with mixing sword and spear with manual-action firearms and steel plants and windmills and automatons and galleys and whatnot, but i'm still unsure as to how I would go about mixing other technologies in there. Like, fuckin I dunno, pick some 'modern' tech out of a hat. How weird is it to say that I don't want cars but I would like factories to exist. I can't even give an upper or lower limit in terms of our own world's time, so I really need to get particular with it. it's not that i'm trying to like, adhere to hard and rigid worldbuilding, I just want to be able to describe it more efficiently than I just did lmao
Magic is a little bit more easy to say - a softer magic system, but with some stipulations in order to better create narrative stakes and such, like the typical 'equivalent exchange', channeling rules, magic sinks and magic 'batteries', 'healing' magic can't fix, it can only speed up the process, yada yada.
There are a couple of interesting facets, though - for instance, magic is so goddamn prevalent on Fortune on account of those spooky woods that actually doing magic is super fucking easy, like a toddler could do it without much prompting. There's a million different ways to do it - runes and lexigraphy, spoken and written words, waggling your hands in a specific way while thinking really hard, or pitching a funny rock at some idiot's head. The caveat is that while it's easy to *do*, it's actually pretty difficult to *learn*. If you're seeking a career path that takes even the slightest bit of magical proficiency, you need to be educated on magic. I've equated it to learning an instrument - anyone can pick up a trumpet and hold a note, but you need to learn how to play arrangements and songs to actually do anything with that trumpet, and if you want to be able to improv you have to practice a whole lot more.
I also don't have much in the way of actual fauna and flora, and I would prefer to trend away from having humans as default or of a binary with like, 'sentient monsters' being the other half. that is BORING. the one interesting thing so far is that i made some guys that look like typical fantasy ass elves with long ears and freaky eyes, but they're actually just...offshoots of merfolk that just started doin' it on land. if they get over-exposed to magic, they'll re-develop those fishy bits.
As for anything else...I lost track. I'm sure I missed something important to explain, so when I remember (and when it is not 4 am) I will add it. questioms are cool too ig although i don't know how comprehensively i'll be ablw to answer

Darksiders AU: Before the Doomsday
The Red Hooded Swordman
Cassandra found a mysterious grimoire in the library during her work shift. Cassie hears a noise from the end of the library's basement and decides to check it. She checks the book, but it doesn't look like a usual book. When Cassandra returns to the upper floor with other old books, she asks the librarian about the mysterious book. However, the librarian had no idea about the book (unless she remembered that a previous librarian had found a book with others a long time ago during his journey). She gives it to Cassie as a gift (the librarian thought Cassie likes unusual stuff).
Later in the evening, Cassie is trying to figure out how to open the book on campus. At the moment, she hears a noise from the window and checks it. Cassandra opens the curtains, but nothing. She thinks that it was her imagination. When she returns to the book, she hears a noise again. Cassie gets scared and rechecks the window, but when she opens the window, the crow flies towards her room and lands on her bed. The unexpected guest freaks out Cassie and tries to figure out how to drive away a crow. She takes her blanket, slowly comes to the crowd, and quickly throws it at him. At the second, Cassie brings a blanket with a crow as fast as she can and drives him away, before she closes the window.
When she finishes with a crow, Cassie returns to the book and is figuring out "how to open this book" until she gets an idea. Cassie remembered how she hid a key for her diary as a bookmark between pages. She tries to find a key until she finds it (in the red ribbon bookmark). When Cassie opens the book, an unknown energy comes out and goes through her body. In her hand, the unknown mark appears, and it causes her pain. The pain still goes when it finishes, and Cassie has no idea what happened.
The next day, Cassandra hears rumors about people's disappearances in Manhattan, and nobody knows what happened; the police are still investigating it. After her first class starts, Cassie feels a headache and her arm starts hurting. And for some reason, it was glowing. One of her classmates looks at her and asks if she's okay, to which Cass answers with a wide fake smile. When her classes were finished, Cassie visited her half-sister Hye-mi. They are having a nice time, but Cassie didn't tell her about what happened that night, the book, and her mark.
When she leaves Hye-mi's house, Cassandra comes back to her university walking through the streets. At that moment, she feels strange, like somebody is watching her. When Cassie turns back, she sees a strange man wearing a suit, sunglasses, and gloves. She started walking faster, but there were seven of them, and they were coming towards her. Feeling something is wrong, Cassandra starts running and ends up at the end of the street. The mysterious people were removing their glasses, showing Cassie their glowing eyes and revealing their real form, ensuring no one else was here. When Cassie saw it, she was shocked and screamed in horror. She's still back up til she hits a wall in fear and gets cornered and thinks it might be the end, but before any of the demons can attack. The red-hooded figure with a giant sword dashed towards the demons and slew them individually. Observing the bloody massacre, Cassie hides, but her hand starts to hurt her. One of the demons sees her and attacks her until she makes a fire blast, which kills it completely. When the action finishes, the red-hooded figure sees her.
This is the idea which me and my friend PizzaBatman had when we were creating an AU, where Horsemen of Apocalypse (War and Death) were sent to the past before the apocalypse started by the mysterious demon (The name and design will be later)
We hope you enjoy it.

RZ and the Void
Tumblr media
A collection of my favorite Void-related quotes, with a few of my own headcanons mixed in. 💜
For the official in-game description, click here. For fan lore, see Myelin and Byf's videos, and this Reddit post.
= = =
"The Thanatonauts say the Void is what you see in that brief moment between death and rebirth. It is the in-between, the pause." - Osiris (Harnessing the Void)
"The Void is the same in the Ascendant Plane, or anywhere. Its universality is part of its power." - Ikora Rey (Void Between Stars)
"Those who have stared into the Void are not bound by the laws of space and time." - Voidwalker D1 description
"The Vex wield impossibility as their weapon, but they're as vulnerable to it as anything else." - Ikora Rey (Null Vector)
"The space between defines the shape. The rest before the note, the breath before the word, the blank space on the page." - Voidwalker 3.0 description
"Even in the empty spaces between, there is Light." - Misraaks (Void Defiance)
"Not even the Darkness can survive the Void." - Mara Sov (Void of Alignment)
"Take your ship up to orbit and climb outside. Meditate there. You'll feel it." - Ikora Rey (Cold Cosmos)
"To harness the Void is to enter a state of tranquility, free from the clatter of ordinary matter." - Apotheosis Veil
"Walking with the Void is learning to embrace that which cannot be pinned down." - Ikora Rey (Employing the Uncertain)
"Picking it up is the easy part, Hunter. Putting it down again, well, you’ll find that it’s addictive, that power. [...] You find the power to punch through and borrow something from the other side." - Cayde-6 (The Nightstalker's Trail)
- - -
Headcanon: While mastery of Void Light requires some understanding of the Void itself, instinct seems to work just as well as advanced theories, since the Void is also associated with secrets.
"The Void requires precision. It demands mastery. The Void is bottomless—take care not to fall in." - Ikora Rey (Crystalline Contender)
"Harnessing the Void is as much a philosophical practice as a combat technique. Osiris taught me that." - Ikora Rey (PsiTactics: Void)
"Must you understand the Void to wield it? That understanding is within you already, even if you can't articulate it." - Ikora Rey (Void Melee Games)
"Some see Void Light as mysterious. To me, it is simple: It is another weapon for defending our City." - Saint-14 (Void Strike)
"Stay safe, and carry your secret Light to the sky." - Eva Levante (Null and Void)
"Void Guardians tend to keep to themselves. They like to guard their secrets, I suppose. Except the Titans. Titans are always so polite." - Eva Levante (Screaming Into the Void)
"This is true even of the devouring black hole, which remembers all the secrets it eats. It will only confess these secrets when it evaporates, 10 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 years from now, long after the last stars have flickered out." - Savathûn (YOU MUST)
- - -
"None are immune to the call of the Void. But only Guardians harness it for their gain." - Mara Sov (Void Ascendancy)
"Of all the Lights, yours may be able to drive [the Hive], manipulate them. Their kind is drawn inexorably to masters of the Void." - Calus (Shadow's Gloves)
"The Void does not play favorites; it comes for you all." - Ikora Rey (Deadly Fireworks)
"Once the Void has you, it never lets go." - Quantis Rhee (Chain Reaction)
"The Void bends all, especially those who resist." - Ikora Rey (Cosmic Casualty)
"Not everyone has the strength to stare into the Void and return to the surface with the power it offers." - Toland, the Shattered (Gazing Into the Abyss)
"Doesn't matter how good you are; you stay out there too long, you're not coming back. Not the same way you left, anyway." - Tevis Larsen (Graviton Forfeit)
"Keep one foot in the tangible. Diving head first into the Void would be like swimming in a vacuum." - Ikora Rey (Vacuum Sealed)
"When I start slipping into that twilight, where I'm not sure if I'm awake or dreaming, I can feel the absence. It's close enough to touch. [...] The Void just likes it when I'm running on empty." - Nightstalker 3.0 description
"Light is scarce in this place. But Quantis [Rhee] knows how to find it—how to feel for the un-ripples of the Void, to draw Light from the infinities between spaces. She knows how to roll black holes between her fingertips, and how to nock her bow with the inescapable gravities of the universe." - Orpheus Rig
"A Bow appears in my hands, and I let a single binding shot loose from the shadow. Now there are Orbs of Power everywhere. Eat, my friends. Eat." - Nightstalker description
"Feast on the sky. Gorge yourself until all starlight has been gnawed to black—then the cosmos will tremble with your roar." - Star Eater Scales
"From the space between I come. Fragments of stars burn in my footsteps. In my hands I hold Death." - Nova Mortis
"I still must confront the silence after glory; I feel the nature of the Void most keenly in these moments. I have begun, I think, to look forward to them." - Sentinel 3.0 description
"There is still and calm in the Void. I find it comforting." - Eva Levante (Voidslayer)
"I think of the Void as the hum that you must quiet everything else to hear. Am I right, Guardian?" - Eva Levante (Gauntlets: Void's Anvil)
"The Void calls to some Guardians; a subtle tug on the back of your mind." - Eris Morn (Devoid of Vex)
"Does it also whisper to you? Fear is a natural response to the unknown. But in time, the Void's voice will become familiar to you." - Ikora Rey (Into the Abyss)
- - -
Headcanon: although Void users are known for being "fearless," using the Void is less about disregarding fear and more about facing it.
"I've had a dozen Hunters ask me why it's so hard to summon a Dusk Bow. I asked 'em what they thought of the Void, and their eyes told me everything. You can't be afraid. That's the secret. No fear." - Tevis Larsen (A Ranger Found)
"It's very simple. You reach into the Void - past visions of your own death and the extinction of life, past fears and nightmares - and take what you find. I don't know why every Hunter doesn't do it." - Tyra Karn (Shard of the Traveler, Nightstalker)
"Must you all be so dark? [...] What I have done is found a way to channel the Void to draw that essence in before it is lost to the ether, to return it to Light so it can be properly bestowed back on our enemies. [...] What's so dark about that?" - Satomi (Mask of the Quiet One)
"Now, looking back, it strikes me that he talked with the arrogance of one who can always return from the Void. One who has contemplated the darkness so long he thinks of it as a friend, of sorts." - Ophidian Aspect
"Gravity seizes her. She falls forward in space and time, into the future, into the mystery. Yang Liwei is behind her. Uldwyn is behind her. She wants to be the first." - Cosmogyre IV
- - -
"The Void draws you in. It is as fascinating as it is gravitational." - Ikora Rey (Gauntlets: Singularity-Tempered)
"If you have ever felt a chill when gazing up at the stars, you know the power of Void." - Ikora Rey (Into the Abyss)
"The arrow is still broken, but it hums with a more dangerous energy: cold twilight, binding gravity, a guttering lantern in the gray mist." - Fractured Arrow
"Here, take off your helmet for a second. Smell that? Not the gasoline… The ozone. Smells like the Void." - Sloane (Scent of the Void)
"What is the void? [...] The vacuum between the stars. The smell of rot. The taste of metal. The deafening roar that can only be heard when it is truly silent." - Tyra Karn (Shard of the Traveler, Voidwalker)
"She could feel the faint call, the scent, the color that drew the eye. The Void Soul was drawn to her as she to it." - Briarbinds
"Even now, the very tip of the visual spectrum, violet-blue light, is shifting up into invisible ultraviolet, the color of speed, the color of future." - Brephos I
"A shallow cold saps the heat from Zavala's fingertips; he pulls back. [...] Banshee clinks the analyzer into a tool tray. 'Leeches a bit, kicks out Void.'" - Ruinous Effigy
"Void hungers, does it not? It yearns for the antithesis of its own profound desolation." - Into the Abyss
"That feeling where you just get hungrier the more you eat? That's the Void." - the Drifter (Circling the Drain)
"YOU WILL DREAM OF TEETH AND NOTHING ELSE." - Voidfang Vestments
"A Voidwalker's strike does more than harm you. It takes from you." - Ikora Rey (Withering Strike)
"A Nightstalker's bow leaves behind very precise scarring. Fascinating." - Ghost (A Ranger Lost, The Nightstalker's Trail)
"Void is absence in the universe and in oneself. It devours and darkens, as we do when we are in pain. There is grief here, and regret. But so too the wisdom of introspection." - Eris Morn (Legacy: Lacuna)
"When you wield the Void, you wield a key. When the Void touches life, it unlocks the Light within. Sometimes with terrrible results." - Vance (Create Orbs of Light)
"Somewhere in the Void are answers to questions we have never thought to ask." - Rahool (Deepest Purple)
"There are intricacies to Void energy only now made known to us, in the presence of the Dark." - Eris Morn (Make Hole)
"It's very similar to how you use Void Light—manipulating spacetime and gravitational fields. In fact, I would argue that Void has more in common with Stasis than it does with Solar or Arc. Perhaps they're reverse sides of the same coin." - Elsie Bray (Scalar Potential)
"What stops the Darkness from entering into the places between the stars? The answer is simple: the Void is just another type of Light." - Ulan-Tan (Talk To Ikora)
"The Void is not the Darkness. The Darkness is what it is. Void energy is like all things of this universe, it is Light seen through a prism." - Toland (Complete the Path)
"Void, Solar, then Arc. Hmm. We're not naive enough to think the order is a coincidence." - Zavala (Trichromatica)
"Everything comes from nothing. Find the power in emptiness." - Eris Morn (Void Vanquisher)
"The Traveler came out of the void that surrounds all things. Thus we know that the void is full of power. Thus we enter the void without fear. " - Toland (Shard of the Traveler, Voidwalker)
"Void takes the form of a great hemisphere, quiet and secure. As it began." - Xûr (Paraversal Defender)
"Look at Truth to Power simply. What are the topics it centers upon? Black holes. Vex simulations. Ahamkara. Manipulations of Hive tribute." - Ikora Rey (The Hidden Dossier)
"To seek the truth of the matter is to join venerated orders of Void-wielders: Nightstalkers; Voidwalkers; Sentinels. If this is your path, Guardian, walk it carefully." - Ikora Rey (Ikora Rey: Gazing Into the Abyss)
"There’s truth in the edge of Light, and beneath that truth a deeper truth, hidden from all but a few. That truth is this: monsters need not fear the night." - Nightstalker D1 description
"And what of the Sky? [...] Soar high enough, and far enough – dodge enough bait-stars, enough membranous predators floating lightly on the wind – and there, too, is darkness. What may survive in that empty space between stars? Only that which has clawed its way up." - Savathûn (Old Friend, Beloved)
