Some König Headcanons and Hottakes

So I want to preface this by saying no hate to anyone. These are just some opinions that I think some people might disagree with which is totally fine. This is also a little bit of me pointing out some of his flaws. I love him though.

He is not a shy little uwu boy who would have a panic attack if a cutie looked at him a certain way. If he was so prone to panic attacks and his anxiety was that crippling then he wouldn't have been in the special forces and he wouldn't be in a PMC - which are highly selective.

Personally I don't fully believe that he was a colonel. The only hint we have gotten of that is a one of the 'Bad Brothers' loading screens which just says 'Colonel König' with no more context. Colonels aren't really active on the battle field and it is very unlikely you would see one in action. Officers ranked that highly are seen as too valuable to be 'wasted' in infantry combat.

Continuing from my last point, even a lot of majors and Lt Colonels aren't battle prone. Considering he would have had to have passed through those ranks to become a colonel means that he would have spent a lot of time behind a desk and commanding teams such as platoons and battalions. We don't know enough about him to say that he isn't a good leader, after all he is simply an operator with a few paragraphs of text as a background. However, his voice lines and little text we do get about him tells us he is not one to enjoy standing by and having others fight on his command. He would MUCH rather be in the brawl.

And I know that Alejandro is a colonel and very active duty, however we can assume that this is largely due to his ambition and personal attachment to his home, which he wants to protect from the cartel. I'm not saying a colonel doesn't fight, but it is exceedingly rare.

My last anti-colonel theory point - why would a colonel wear such DIY gear? I just want to say if you hc him as a colonel that is absolutely FINE, those are just reasons as to why I don't :/

Moving on, I believe him to be a sore loser. For example, he was deemed unfit to be a sniper, and so he wears a sniper hood and has that voiceline "And they said I couldn't be a sniper". Dress for the job you want, not the job you have ig?

I believe he wants to prove people wrong. Getting rejected as a sniper wounded his ego so A LOT. I hc him to be between 32-37 and if he joined jagkdo/KSK (old bio said he was German and in the KSK, newer ones said Austrian and JagKdo, now there's no mention of sf so idk??) while he was younger, say around 23-26, he's had a lot of time for that wound to heal and yet it hasn't. This man holds hella grudges.

Because of this, I think that a fear of failure might also contribute to his anxiety. If he was asked about being scared to fail he'd smirk and say there was no way. But deep down in his core it eats away at him.

This might also bleed into his social life. He's fearful of relationships and remains single for a long time. He'd rather not ask you out instead of having you reject him for trying. He'd have to REALLY like somebody and also have some reassurance or signs that they liked him out.

Cannot accept accountability for simple mistakes. He knocked your coffee mug over? You shouldn't have left it there. Hit you a little too hard in training? You should be stronger. You should have dodged it. Not his fault you're not as good as him.

Is a show off. If he is obviously better at something then you'll never hear the end of it. Better driver? Better fighter. Yeah, he's bragging about it. Again, his fear of not being good enough rears its ugly head. He deflects it on to those who are weaker - they could never be him.

Damn this was a list of negatives, but I love him in spite of all of his flaws. What kind of list should I make next? I should probably do one with some positive traits lmao.

Anyway, I don't mind at all if anyone disagrees with these this is just how I see him. Maybe one day I'll write a fic where he acknowledges his demons and starts to heal.

went caroling (yes it's a REAL workout I carried heavy bags for nearly 10km WHILE it was pouring and freezing cold outside)

Ferrari, what are you doing?

I went through the depths of the Internet (I surved through Wikipedia) to figure out if it is only our feeling that Charles gets fucked over by Ferrari on a regular basis, or if there is actually a pattern since Sainz and the Pasta Mafia entered Maranello. Here's what I found out:

Let's start with the first two years of Charles at Ferrari:

2019 & 2020:

Of course, as he was new to the Scuderia and a top team (and his teammate was Sebastian Vettel) the Qualifying and Race head to head of the first half showed a clear advantage for Seb (with the exception of Bahrain, where Charles was simply flying until Ferrari quickly brought him back to reality...), but ever since France he kind of started to find his footing. And I think we've never talked enough about his run from Spa to Russia - we never shut up about it actually -. In the end they're seem on pretty equal footing in 2019 and even the Ferrari Fuck ups (marked in red) were pretty equal.

In 2020 Charles pretty much whiped the floor with Seb (as far as you could wipe the floor at all in that shit box Ferrari called a car in 2020), and despite how slow the car was and how much Ferrari was bullying Seb to leave the team, there was not much Ferrari Fuck Ups in general...

So the count of Ferrari Fuck Up - Counter between Seb and Charles was 5:6 - so pretty equally messed with by the red team.

But then things changed when Carlos (aka the Pasta Man) joined the Scuderia Ferrari:

2021 & 2022:

Firstly we have to seperate (or not) between the Mattia Binotto Era and the Fred Vasseur Times.

After the 2020 Ferrari was slower than this year's Haas, people could have at least have a little hope that Ferrari was a bit better in 2021. Not championship winning, but better.

And as we can notice, at the beginning of the year, the only thing that let Carlos finish ahead of Charles, was if Charles had a problem (or beef with other drivers on track) The turning point seemed to have been Monza (ouch...), when the Pasta Mafia Tax finally paid off and even then Charles finished ahead of Carlos more often than not... But still Apart from Ferrari hating the hard tires (surprise surprise), there were of course only mechanical issues when Charles was either leading the race or would have started on pole...

Ferrari Fuck Up counter: 6:3 in Carlos' favour.

And then... 2022. The year of the beautiful F1-75, a car that looked like it could finally bring the championships back to Maranello.

(as we all know...) The season started for Charles in the most perfect way. The car was fast, perfect and the hopes were high. Okay, Carlos was struggling a bit in Australia and Imola, but finally the car is fast. But then the Pasta Mafia - Binotto Tax kicked in again and while Charles tries to stay ahead in the championship... The cars quite literally keeps dying underneath his ass, whenever he's leading the race.

He loses the Championship lead, as Binotto and Sainz Snr. openly admit to shit on the championships and develop the car so it suits Carlos more (which evidently makes the car slower), then the Race-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named Silverstone 2022 happened and Binotto wagged his finger and Charles threatened to leave the team if nothing changes in the team. (Leading to Binotto being fired eventually) But for the rest of the season the Pasta Mafia is still stong. The strategies in Garage 16 stay questionable, but despite all of that Charles keeps leading the Quali and Race head to heads.

Still: Ferrari Fuck Up counter: 8:4 in Carlos' favour. (Still double the issues in Charles' garage...)

And while Binotto was leaving Ferrari, he left the team with one last gift: the SF-23...

2023:

This time the year already started with mechanical issues for Charles, while the car was unstable and unpredictable, which lead to him pushing more and more, which led to him making mistakes. And the Ferrari Fuck Ups don't let up in garage 16, even if he seems to be able to cope better with the SF-23, leading both head to heads comfortably (i wonder why....)

It becomes even more noticable, when the Suzuka floor leads to the start of Charles incredible front row start streak since Austin (but since you can't have nice things when you're support Charles Leclerc, we just completed the triple crown of shame with it - having a DNF, DNS and DSQ in one season). But still he didn't give up, fighting to give Ferrari P2 in the championship after all, but Carlos seemed to have given up.

Ferrari Fuck Up counter: 9:4 - this year it's even more than double the issues in gaarage 16....................

2024:

2024 started hopeful, Ferrari seemingly had the second fastet car, the championships are finally a fight once again, but for some reason even Fred Vasseur can't stop the issues in Charles' garage. From Brake Temperature Imbalances to Ferrari still not prioritising the Championships in favour of a driver that will leave the team at the end of the year and while yes we FINALLY broke the Monaco curse, but afterwards it seemed like everyone (but Charles maybe) stopped working in Maranello.

Let's hope Charles did whatever he did Post-Silverstone 2022 and something finally changes in that team.

All in all Charles always had more Ferrari Fuck Ups in his garage, but with Seb it was pretty equal with 6:5.

With Sainz it is a whooping 29:11 problems, that lead to Charles losing many points and potentially even the Championship in 2022.

It is going to be interesting how 2024 progresses and if there will be a noticable change once the Pasta Mafia leaves Maranello again.

Charles was the slower out of the two. And Perez and George were right on their heels. Even Charles admitted and said he understood why the swap happened later on. You guys pick and choose things he says because it is going against whatever you guys claim about Carlos, you act like he didn’t say those things and that he is forced to say things because PR.

Why do y’all think Carlos is always behind Charles’s misfortunes? I am so sick and tired of Carlos being the public enemy for literally everything and nothing. Things that even he can’t control.

Y’all are a bunch of hypocrites. When Charles has good race and Carlos doesn’t, all hail Ferrari, Carlos is mid, doesn’t deserve that seat but when Carlos has a better one, it’s all the wrong car won, good things aren’t supposed to happen to Carlos, Sainztander, the car was built for him.🙄 Do you guys hear yourself? Y’all sound ridiculous.

Charles did get a fucked up strategy and it’s frustrating and sad. I will admit that. And I am mad about that. Drag Ferrari. Not Carlos. They set up BOTH their drivers with one pit stop strategy at the beginning. Yeah, even Carlos was supposed to be on one pit stop strategy but he fucked up his tires trying to catch up to Lewis and Max, so they had to go with two pit stop. And we know SF-23 eats tires like nothing. That’s how Charles was losing pace too.

And y’all love playing the Carlos helps Lando but not his own teammate card too much. Did y’all forget yesterday? Where Carlos was on softs and kept Lando behind to delay him from getting to Charles? And also in Austria, defending from Checo that helped in Charles getting P2. You guys are way too quick to forget when Carlos plays the team game.

As for Singapore (because y’all love to bring it up and hate that he won) if the whole DRS thing went sideways, both Carlos and Lando would’ve lost out. In helping Lando, he kept his place and gave us the only non redbull win. But that only worked because they both trusted each other. It wouldn’t have worked with Charles and y’all know it. And y’all latched on to george saying “they’re sacrificing Leclerc.” way too quickly. Where, again, a bad pit stop and safety car fucked up Charles’s position. And even then Charles said it was his idea to go on softs so the team could have a win. Again, Ferrari is to be blamed there.

Did you forget Monza? We were very close to Ferrari DNF.

Y’all need to start thinking and stop blaming everything on Carlos and also maybe stop putting Charles on a pedestal and act like he does no wrong. I love him too, but y’all are making it really hard to love him. And I can’t even go to his (Charles) tag because there’s just hate on carlos and you can’t tag properly.

To anyone withholding praise for Fred to this day, I'm very curious what your expectations of him are.

This man came into a team that was basically on fire. Binotto and other parties spent the last few years devolving the team, trying to seek self praise and build their own billboards off of Ferrari's back. He wanted to be the sole reason of Ferrari's success. (We know he didn't want to sign Charles and atp we know he hated Charles). There's no way the Sf-23 was built horribly because he knew he was leaving. They started development way too early for that. The Sf-23 was his leadership visualized. Unstable and uninspiring.

Fred came in and knew right away a lot of changes needed to happen. And he got to work immediately. He started cleaning house. Heads rolled and transfers between teams started. Charles started to believe in the team again. He trusted Fred. Something he no longer had for Binotto.

2023 was a season of rebuilding after the disaster of 2022. They got a lot of things wrong but to an extent they didn't even know what they were working with. It's hard to make the right calls with an unpredictable car. It's noted that almost all the issues also came from one side of the garage (but that's something I believe we may no longer face in 2025.... 🙃).

By the end of the season, we started to see a new Ferrari. Better pit stops (second overall), improved strategies and a more stable car (Suzuka floor you'll always be famous).

All this wasn't done by Fred alone but these are the results of his leadership. He's allowing the engineers to give input and feel heard.

There's no way I expected Ferrari to come into 2024 ready to fight the red bulls but I damn sure expected a car that's way more stable and predictable than the Sf-23 and thank God they delivered.

It's easier to give everyone in the team their flowers now. Why? Because Fred allowed them to shine. His leadership style shows that his success comes from the success of others.

As it stands, we don't know what other chess pieces he's been moving behind the scenes. But with time hopefully we'll be getting favorable news. It's been fun watching Fred's impact on the team. He hasn't been there for a long time, but the effort he has put in is showing right away and it gives me hope for the future.

Added a brief section at the end of my Netflix Devil May Cry review about Adi Shankar because seriously, for as much as I enjoyed my time with the show, I sincerely hate that guy and his weird grifting ass behavior lol.

If you don't want to go searching for it: I don't like Adi's politics and I don't like how he's smooching up with right-wing assholes. I can't get into his head to know why but my theory/assumption is that he's looking to be friends with whoever's most popular/has the most money, and right now in 2025 America that's trump supporters--though I could be totally wrong and he could just be a flat-out bigot that's good at pretending. I hate it, you hate it, we all hate it and if we get christofascist apologia for season 2 I am dropping that show faster than a hot potato. For now, though, I still enjoyed my time with the first season, I'm hopeful the second season continues, improves, and doesn't fumble the bag the first season set up.

Also as a general note to the fandom at large: stop being a bunch of gatekeeping assholes to new fans. Regardless of your opinion on the show, yelling at people who liked the show and now want to get into Devil May Cry is counterproductive and stupid. If you didn't like the show bc it's not like the games, more people getting into the games from the show is not a bad thing and will solve your problem faster than telling new fans they suck and "don't get it." Additionally don't do weird gameplay gatekeeping on old fans who enjoyed the show, that's also a great way to poison the tank.

EDIT 5/23/2025: yeah no Adi Shankar is a complete fucking grifter with an ego the size of twenty blimps. I saw the interview he did where he talks about how, after he signed his contract w/ capcom, he learned DMC5 was in production and slated to come out soon and was upset.

Why would Adi Shankar, supposed fan of Devil May Cry whom he has said in many trailers and promotional videos for the animated series he made, be upset you might ask? Because he wanted his show to be the thing to "revive" the series. He wanted HIS show and people praising it to be the message to capcom that people care about Devil May Cry! And the moment he learned his beloved series WASN'T dead and WAS coming back, he got pissy, because he wasn't going to get praise for it. He literally makes a comparison to Dino Crisis, another actually firmly dead series from Capcom, and that he would've rather tried a Street Fighter animated series (which lol. lmao even. wtf do you mean you thought SF was dead and that an animated series would revive it. literally it's a legacy fighting game from capcom and while 5 wasn't the best the series sure as shit wasn't "dead" by any stretch of the imagination) if he had known DMC was getting another game.

This is why Adi Shankar's name is slapped all over the show--not the studio, or the OTHER writer whose name is nowhere to be seen on promotional material, it's just Adi Shankar. This is why he talks about the series not being written off in his bootleg universe takes on series. This is why he went to a fucking WWE show in full cosplay and had the announcers credit him as "the creator of Devil May Cry"--NOT "the Netflix series, Devil May Cry", JUST Devil May Cry.

He wanted to be the sole benefactor. He wanted all the praise. He wanted to be credited with DMC finally, FINALLY getting "brought back" despite the fact his show was likely always planned to be a reinterpretation. He wanted to be the catalyst for a 'new age' of Devil May Cry. He wanted this to legitimately be a massive success that would push him into leading the series.

But DMC5 happened. Itsuno returned and made a damn good game. And Adi got upset, instead of being excited, because his big dreams of re-imagining and leading the series to 'new heights' were squashed the moment the ink was put to paper. Fucking jackass. I couldn't hate this man more if I tried.

It's so incredibly funny and weird to see so many Charles "fans" here so happy with Max's achievements and not saying one single word about that first lap move. No hate to Max but it doesn't make sense to me. Maybe because he is popular in f1blr and people are afraid of his fans? But as a Charles fan I feel like I'm the only one that would complain about it and that wouldn't enjoy the success and dominance of one of Charles rivals. I might say if you are a Charles fan you can't actually enjoy someone else's dominance. You can admire from afar and congratulate but enjoy and feel happy? It is so awkward to me.

Regardless, Charles would not have won today, and that sucks. He may be able to work miracles with that shitbox during quali, but as far as race pace goes, the SF-23 is still sorely lacking.

There are definitely people on here who are fans of both Max and Charles, so I can see them being happy about Max's successes. I have some "secondary favorites" like Alex and Oscar, and I am really happy when they do well, even if Charles had an off day. Of course, they are not enjoying the dominant success Max is, and maybe therefore it's not as annoying?
