You rush to the library, attempting to make it to the same spot you and Jake met up a few days ago. You were going to make it late since your alarm didn’t go off so you just hoped he wasn’t waiting long.

You finally make it to the library after feeling like you took forever. You go to the original meeting spot but he wasn’t there. Nothing was there at all, and that left you confused. You were worried, after all you were half an hour late to your agreed tutoring session with him. You decide to text him.

y/n -> ugly tutor : heyy ik i’m like rlly late but lmk if you came already or are coming later.

You decide to wait for his response, taking a seat at your secluded table. After what feels like forever, even though it was like 5 mins, you get a response.

ugly tutor -> y/n : it’s okay, meet me at my place tho xxxxxxxxxx

You wince slightly, after rushing to be here you have to meet him at his place? You gather your things and begin to leave.

You contemplate why you are going. Even though you need the tutoring, do you really have to go all the way to golden r’s house? Like what if someone sees you and posts about it? You sigh the thoughts away and continue.

You make it to the apartment complex, walking up the stairs till you make it to the third floor. You make it to the room mentioned in the text and give it a knock. There is no response. After a little bit you decide to knock again, once again you get no response. You think that this is one of his stupid pranks so you start to leave when you hear a large thud come from the inside of the room.

Shortly after the door opens up and out comes a messy looking Jake who looks like he just woke up. He has his hand on the back of his head like he accidentally hit it. He was in a white t-shirt and pj’s, specifically ones with cute little teddy bears. He doesn’t realize it's you for a few seconds and when he finally does he looks surprised.

“uhh what are you doing here y/n?” jake asks, still looks shooken up, he looks more confused now as he ruffles his hair trying to come up with a reason why you would be here.

You give him a confused look as well, “you texted me to come over,” you respond, pulling out your phone to show it to him.

He starts to scratch the back of his head, “i never did that…” he mumbles to himself, loud enough for you to hear though. “i’m going to go check, feel free to come in.” jake invites as he leaves the door to check his room.

You decide to enter his apartment, which you are immediately greeted with photos of jake with a dog. It’s pretty big compared to yours and it looks like its a golden retriever. You giggle to yourself before further adventuring to the living room and rest on the couch. He walks in with his phone in his hand with a pout from confusion that you found cute.

“so apparently i did text you,” jake explains, standing in front of you now, “but i just woke up when you knocked on my door…”

“oh well thats weird”

“shit, i think it was my roommate niki who texted you. he was probably trying to annoy me,” he mumbled, “well, you have your stuff right? i wouldn’t want to waste your time,”

”yeah, thanks.” you respond, still confused about everything.

“this is what i get for skipping practice,” jake mumbles to himself.

He was annoyed at his roommate as he leaves quickly to gather his stuff. You can tell he was in a rush to not waste your time anymore as he had a handful of textbooks and papers he was supposed to bring to your tutoring session. He placed them on the coffee table in front of you and made sure everything was organized.

He then started to teach you. You were thinking about how he skipped practice for his performance just to teach you, even if he had little time to practice. Throughout your time with him you find it cute and funny he’s still in his pj’s. His smile as he taught you caught your eyes. You had a nice time, and you guess you can say you actually enjoy your sessions with jake.

In the middle of him giving you a mini lecture, you look at his face and find him kinda funny. How could he not? He just woke up and still has slight bed hair and his pajamas are so cute. While he looks at his textbook, explaining each of Newton’s laws for third time, you take the opportunity to take a sneaky photo of him. But you, being the idiot you are, forget to turn off the flash so jake looks up.

”did you just take a photo of me?” jake asks, attempting to peek over to your phone, looking like a curious dog.

”erm no…” you lie… horribly.

”whatever, just don’t send it to anyone please,” he sighs before getting back to teaching, reaching for your phone to put away the distraction and keep you on track.

As your time comes to an end you help jake tidy up, “thanks for helping me,” You thank jake with a smile.

“Oh yeah no problem” he smiles back. His smile catches you again, keeping you speechless for a moment.

When you return to reality you shake your head awake for a bit then remember to pay jake, “here, i forgot it last time,” you say, handing him the money.

He reaches out his hand, only taking half, “keep that, i feel bad for forgetting and having you come all the way here,” he says, feeling slightly guilty.

You don’t even know what to say to that so you just keep the money to not complicate or stir anything up.

After helping jake, you leave, hoping your sudden cancellation with friends doesn’t catch much attention.

i've been going back and forth a bit with ren and his powers post getting his body back! in my original plan, he had absolutely none of his fire powers, as he wasn't a fire god originally. over the last year, ive been tempted to let him keep some of it, though i havent entirely decided. i just rlly enjoy the idea of his hair bursting into flames when he's flustered LMAO

if i let him keep his fire, whatever fire powers he gets will have to start from or originate from him. so he wont be able to set independent fires across the room or burn a bush he's not touching. which, to be fair, he cant do that now, either

maybe he could send out a wave of fire from his hands? that would be fun. ill have to think about it!

oh, and of course, he still has his enchanting ability! and being a god means he'll heal from any injuries, no matter how severe

martyn, meanwhile, is pretty much unchanged power-wise from plant form. he's very much still Made Of Plant. he can still grow vines and still needs water and sunlight and soil. he's never really going to be flesh and blood again... or, never going to be flesh, anyway, because he still bleeds golden blood like any other god does

some fun facts abt martyn and how he experiences the world, tho, bc im not sure if ive ever explained these: anything martyn grows needs to come from him somehow. he cant just make other plants around him grow, they have to be martyns own. either he grows them directly off his body, or he puts roots in the ground and sprouts them from somewhere that's connected to him under the dirt. he could probably parasytize antoher plant, but since he can grow Everything, he doesnt have much of a need to. if you cut part of a plant away from him it immediately shrivels away and dies, his plants bleed gold like he does, and he can feel touch and pain through his plants

as for impulsiveness...

ren is very measured with his powers. bc martyn is a deadzone, ren cant offer martyn any kind of protective blessing to avoid burning him, so not burning martyn or setting any part of martyn on fire is something ren has to choose actively. if anything, his power would be weaker once his body is back--just look at some of the stuff he says abt his physical state in somniphobia!

he knows how destructive his power is and watches out for it

martyn, i think... honestly, he would hear movement in a bush and attack it on purpose, not instinctively. martyn loves violence and also has the world's most pathetic and most dognappable paladin. hes gonna be jumpy about hearing stuff nearby

Fenrir has an AWFUL sense of fashion, despite him being able to sew pretty clothes and design quite well. his abilities to pair them together for his own outfit SUCKASS. like he can style others, but not himself, his outfits for himself are canonically UGLY like not badlooking. UGLY. and it’s funny cuz he got a canonically attractive face and body but his haircut + outfits just messed it up like bro wtf are you trying to do here fenrir

here i want to focus on his character development more, yk, more signs of aventurine on his outfit and also symbols of billiards cuz he’s a billiards guy.

His sleeve is like, the heart symbol (by suit, heart is just below spade - like now he’s aventurine’s right hand man) and got that number 8 on it. cuz 8 ball. his colors are white and red too, like a card with accents of gold cuz he likes shiny things lol. But everything from the waist below (like that big belt) is recycled from Talia so that’s why it got that empty gun holster. Also the “pants” with the fringes are chaps lol. his shoe are splitted, like those hooves cuz he was antelope inspired and so he gotta have that too.

However, on his chest is a diamond symbol. and diamond is like second to last, standing behind heart - just that he’s emotionally weaker. i just made this on the spot i didn’t have this thought while i was drawing him LMFAO.

his little accessories are just band patches. However, he has to ripped some of them off as university of veritas prime doesn’t fw that so he kept pins and ‘appropriate’ patches. which is what you see on that jacket. The little thing hanging from his name tag is actually sigonia’s knot of cyclicality he still kept when aventurine gave him during talia. They were made with different materials, thus why it’s not tossed to the flames.

The star pin is a gift from Hermia while the yellow gold coin is Nailscrap’s coin that he still kept, a gift given to him my Aelyn - his deceased best friend who aided him greatly in talia.

Fenrir’s back is heavily based on this magpie, which in his old ref showed that better. I like the energy from the old ref more but the new ref has more details… The blanket is something i struggled with the new one. I feel like the old one still showed the back better…..r…. but i wanted the eye symbolism to be more clear on the new one. Maybe I should keep the old’s blanket design lol. too late tho, i already drew it.

late night/early morning thots

just overall he's the type of guy who thinks the human body is a work of art, and he draws kinda well but it's insanely embarrassed of his artistic skills - he wishes he could overcome it, so he could enjoy quiet rainy afternoons with u by filling his sketchbook full of ur portraits, in all different poses ofc - not inherently sexual, just intimate, but if it leads to something more then that's just extra fun.
