hmmmmm proof of concept prototype, stairs: yes, but it prefers ramps. construct: half familiar, half automaton, mostly chair - the familiar is intelligent enough to decide where to put its feet and how to navigate obstacles, but must speed/stop/turn manually. Itâs pretty stable as far as bounciness and gait goes, but maybe thereâs a way to get it to walk without bouncing at allâŚ

verdict: just because it CAN traverse an âabandonedâ dungeon doesnât mean it SHOULD traverse a dungeon, it canât fly and is only about as fast as a running alphinaud (pretty slow). It also stops moving and stays put if you were to, say, fall out of it. However, on account of everyone coming back safe, it sure works!

im a carpenter and a mage, right? im gonna make arenvald one of those walking wheelchairs. From witch hat. gods know wheeling around eorzea is impossible, especially gridania, NOT built for disabilities at all, and youâre going to be wandering around anyways so might as well give it hooves I think. Iâve got time. provided someone else helps me figure out how to enchant the darn thing. prototypes and all! what do you think alphy hooves or paws. maybe I could ask cid about an automaton type thing so it doesnât have to⌠eat? Would a familiar have to eat it if doesnât have a mouth? brb I gotta find matoya again
#Iâm not sure I need the handles on the back due to how the familiar is yknow. sentient#you donât really have reason for anyone else to be pushing it; it doesnât have wheels or a push mechanism that automatically moves the legs#again itâs. Sentient. So long as thereâs a healthy amount of aether in the atmosphere#play game#just doodling. alphy helped Ari with this it was a nice way to keep his mind working on something productive while everyone waited for#the trip to sharlayan to come about#he loves to just put everything in the vault until it stops being so loud. not sure how to help with that aside from trying to get things#back out the vault⌠even if thatâs really stressful#lots of pressure on this kid. heâs like a canary Iâve realized if he starts getting overwhelmed something is going to go bad soon#if he says he thought he saw something Ari is going to take it seriously his gut instinct is usually right and ignoring it has led to#bad things happening at least three times#anywysâŚ.#arenvald is like a sheepdog to me#very fluffy. very big and soft very sweet#heâs NINETEEN my old newborn son or however that tweet goes#Iâm glad fordola snapped him out of it. thereâs so much other stuff you can do to be âusefulâ; if you must. i understand him. feeling#worthless for not being able to do what youâre supposed to be able to do. I get it. immediately wanting to try to do what you need to do#THAT DOESNT MEAN YOU CAN TAKE MY PROTOTYPE CARPENTRY/SPELLWORK DIRECTLY INTO A DUNGEON !!!!!!!#I GET THAT TOO BUT#IT CANT FIGHT ITS JUST A CHAIR!!!!!!#Matoya was great by the way I still canât tell if she likes me but she at least sounded into it when I said âexperimental familiarsâ#brought her tea. probably saved a lot of time by bringing her tea. bribery >:D đ

Okay, hereâs the opinion on the Borderlands movie from someone who is hyperfixated on the series (me) and someone who loves the series but not as much (bf)
Spoilers ahead!
So, I didnât like it. And clearly no one else does since we had the theater to ourselves, Iâm surprised they ran the movie for the two of us, but it meant we were able to say stuff out loud throughout the movie, and I was able to write down notes on my phone, which I will put below.
Long story short, it was trying to do too much. My bf says the dialogue was okay but it felt awkward and âlook at this reference to a thing!â. The whole movie introduced characters and places from the game, and then either didnât do them justice so they were there for the sake of the name, or just didnât do it right.
Iâll admit Iâm not a huge Lilith fan to begin with, but thatâs my own bias about not liking people we are meant to root for being self important.
Movie Lilith improved on that a little, but fell short in actually being her character. The rest of the world building was focused on revolving around Lilith and the deity she is, not being a standalone world with personality. All the characters were based on their past or present relationship to Lilith, they were not their own thing like in the games, where we as the main character justâŚexist in the world too.
My bf forgot the villain even existed until almost the climax, and I forgot Roland had already made his epic return until the end of the movie.
I could go on and on, and maybe Iâm wrong, but I just donât think it did the series the justice it deserves.
I loved Kreig tho.
Here are my notes:
* Starting with eridians immediately I see
* Is atlas the guys name or the corporation
* Is that discount Helios?
* short joke already. Damn.
* Youâre not supposed to be too old for this shit Lilith
* The face thing gives me flushed away mime frog cell phone vibes
* Why is Lilith dressed like firecracker from the boys
* Music reminds me of the games tho so not bad
* Show, donât tell
* Marcus actor did his research so yay!
* Okay, bus scene was solid
* ROLAND HAS A LAST NAME?
* So Hyperion canonically exists
* Well I guess Tina was in tundra express in bl2
* So kreig replaced brick
* OhâŚthat was not great cgi
* âsardine showersâ I love kreig already
* Unfortunately Roland is just not Roland
* Is that the song from twilight
* PLEASE WHAT IS MOXXIâS ACCENT
* That old man pinball extra has rent due
* I like the Zaford poster
* Axe body spray????
* CREW MEMBER HELPED THEM OPEN THE HATCH
* Stop blowing your hair out the way and just get a haircut Lilith
* âItâs not workingâ maybe because you didnât actually hit the elevator button tannis
* Goddamn it we all know Lilith is âthe chosen oneâ
* We forgot the villain existed for a minute there
* Ugh heâs trying so hard to be handsome Jack but heâs just not
* TANNIS LOOKS LIKE SHE DOES IN THE GAME IN THE FLASHBACK WHY CANT WE HAVE THAT
* âHelp me obi wan kenobi, youâre our only hopeâ ahh vibes
* Tiny vault key.
* Why did commander Knox have the change of heart?
* Retelling the story as if we donât remember it
* OH GOT THE WINGS ARE AWFUL NO
* Why did she hulk clap atlas
* She should have looked like that the whole time, we didnât need the big clothes reveal
* Kreig with the dream face reveal
* Trying too hard to make Lilith look cool
* They group hugged into the vault?
* They took everything I donât like about Lilith and made a movie
* So we had scooter and Ellie for two seconds
* Well. I didnât like it.

Imagine: confessing to Superman that you were madly in love with Clark Kent but you were giving up waiting for him to notice you.
Today hasnât been your day, between waking up late for work, too only arrive to work and three minutes later the Bank was being held at Gunpoint.
While you sat. You thought a lot about Clark. Your best friend. He was Charming, Goofy, Big Dork and it was fun being around him. And when he broke up with Lois you were there picking up the pieces and trying to cheer him up. Especially when Lana swooped in trying to Woo the famous Kent boy. Who was his former girlfriend in high school? Clark thanked you daily for keeping Her at Bay, but it was while you were healing his broken heart that you realized you were madly in love with him. Which was insane. He was your Best friend! You were in the hospital when the twins were born you were best friends with Lois, during their divorce they debuted on who Got the twins and you. You were a part of the family. You never realized you were in love with him until one day he bent down and grabbed you a buttercup flower and put it in your hair and started talking about how when you were kids you would Search High and Low for the small yellow flowers. And would try to make a flower crown. It was such a simple thing that it blew you away how it felt like you were run over by a truck. You debuted if you always loved him. You thought he would have noticed instantly but Clark didnât he didnât notice how your cheeks grew red around him or How your heart was beating so loud you could hear it whenever Clark was in a room- you realized an entire year ago you were In love with youâre best friend.
The more you lay on the floor waiting for the police or Superman to arrive to save the day, you thought about the Kent Boys. The twins, Clark. You were their godmothers, Bestfriends, an aunt to the boys, they were your family. But the more you thought about Clark especially now with Gunmen were stealing bags and purses and the money in the vaults. You thought about how itâs been months. An entire year! And you couldnât shake off the feeling of loving your best friend. Your friend Becky suggested the best way to get over one guy was to get under another. And you tried that. But you kept imagining Clark.. the tinder date who you were doing the devilâs tango with, did Not! appreciate being called âClarkâ right in the middle of the dance.. he did not call for a second date. And you didnât mind.. he wasnât entirely Great in the dance. Especially since you kept imagining another man. After that. You took your frustration both emotional and physical. And Everything that Clark basically caused you. Doing new activities trying to get over your love. For Clark Kent.
Doing Yoga in the morning, and a Cold Shower whenever you saw Clark shirtless which was a lot! Watched bridgertons on Netflix, read All the books in a week, and a lot of Jane Austen. Even going as far as just Trying a New Sex Toy and even giving it a name that you promised to GOD And the Devil you would NEVER tell a single soul what it was. since it would be too humiliating. It was tough but you loved Clark and you couldnât get over it.
It wasnât long until Superman came and Swept the Bank and saved the day. You got outside as Superman stopped talking to the police to check on you. âYou alright Miss.â
âYea- Yea Iâm fine thanks, Superman.â
âthat doesnât sound like your alright. Did you get hurt?â
âNo- No just. I guess at the face of Death and Mayhem you get clarity-âÂ
âAbout What? if you donât mind me asking?â he crossed his arms softly. over his large broad chest as you smiled weakly, shaking your head, âI- Oh I did something stupid- and I just- I realized No matter what I do. I canât undo it.âÂ
Supermanâs face scrunched a bit trying to figure out what you could have possibly done as you leaned forward. âI fell In love with my best friend.- and for Months I tried to ignore it.. but I canât- Iâve been trying for months to not be in love with him.âÂ
âwhatâs stopping you from telling him?âÂ
looking up at Superman you smiled weakly shaking your head, âthe fear I would lose him forever I just- canât lose him.. Or the boys.âÂ
 âthe boys?âÂ
you nodded your head fast nodding your head before rubbing our face, âheâs sons.. they call me auntie. Iâve known him since. God- grade 2.- I canât have him. you know. I mean. Iâve been waiting - God I feel like Iâve been waiting for him to notice me since I was in grade 2.. a kid. I watched him fall in love twice.. and heâs going to fall in love again with an amazing woman- like I canât compare to heâs the ex-wife. sheâs amazing. I just- Iâm done waiting you know? I love him.. but I want to be someone person.âÂ
before Superman could respond a Medic came to pull you away to be checked as he stood there stunned unsure of what to say or do. he had No idea you loved him. Or that you been waiting for him. A large reason for him ending his marriage with Lois wasnât because he was unhappy with Lois- he was content. but Lois never understood him the way you did. It was when you started dating an idiot. that Lois noticed how Clark was acting. jealous and was breaking things trying to not talk about how much he hated your ex. Lois wanted to Go back to doing more dangerous assignments and Clark refused to allow her due to the boys and he didnât want his wife at war fronts- she agreed to Not go if he gave up you. and Clark refused so they broke up.Â
it was a mutual thing and they werenât bitter toward each other. Clark got the boys and they lived on his family farm and they got values they didnât get in the city, and Lois got to explore and write hard-hitting articles and be dangerous. She even had bets going with the twins wondering how long it would take their dad to ask you out.Â
you turned seeing Superman looking at you as you waved weakly as he stepped over as he spoke, âDonât give up on him.. maybe he was just- scared. to ruin the friendship also.âÂ
âmaybe- unless do you have some weird emotion detector and you can tell who loves who?â he chuckled as he shook his head, âNo- but- give him another chance..âÂ
âOkay- but Only because you just saved me.â he chuckled saying perfectly as you went home. he couldnât wait to go home and tell you finally how he felt now knowing how you felt and he wasnât worried about losing you.Â

Xiao: String of Fate [Soulmate AU] HCs
Hey anon! Okay, Iâm just gonna level with you. This request? This request right here? Probably one of my favourites. I went feral over this at 3am and my monkey brain fabricated an entire life story for Xiao when heâs not even out yet.
I sorta combined this request with my feral plot idea (which is honestly a 20k word fic at this point), but ahem, I hope you like and np^^ gotta make so many offerings so Xiao hopefully blesses me. Have a lovely day anon!!

Xiao: String of Fate [Soulmate AU] HCs
The red string of fate is a concept that those who are connected by a red string are destined to meet and fall in love. Regardless of place, time, or circumstances. The red string can never be broken unless one connected passes away.
Alatus
For the past few days, Alatus would wake up early and scale the mountains of his small village to pick Qingxin flowers. The morning dew would still be on the petals before the sun came by and evaporated everything. It became a bit of a small joke that the elders used to make, that a earth spirit would appear at the break of dawn to place the flowers for harvest. Not that Alatus minded, he was grateful that whatever celestial spirt was out there made sure to replace the ones he took. Remembering to always offer a prayer of thanks and a small offering, you would scold him if he didnât.
He quickly scaled and vaulted over the wooden beam and slipped into your room. He winced at the sound of his shoes landing on the wooden floor but you didnât seem to stir. You were still sleeping peacefully as Alatus took the fresh flowers to add to the ones already in your small vase beside you. They were your favourite flower after all. He reminisces about when you were both children and how you would drag him to mountains and tell him all about how at the very top there was his beautiful white flower. But you were both too young with small limbs to even attempt to climb it, plus if you somehow managed to do it, it would take too long and both your parents would be worried. It never seemed to deter you as you reasoned that a wind spirit would help your journey. Come to think of it, you always put a lot of faith into celestial beings. But he goes along with your plan, never one to contain your desire to explore.
Heâs suddenly snapped out of his memories when he hears a soft knock on the door. It quietly opens to reveal your mother. She gives him a small smile as he looked a bit guilty for getting caught breaking in before waving him over to hand him something. You left him with a small bamboo package that you had wanted to give on his birthday. On top of the bamboo, you had wrote a short but warming message that you were worried about him always running off outside and that he might catch a cold. He smiled softly at your words, ingraining the way your ink brush flowed down the bamboo sticks into his mind. He offerâs a small thanks as she gives him a comforting hug. Whether for him or her he doesnât know and she leaves.
He carefully untied the brown string keeping the package together to unravel a blue, white, and gold sleeve. He silently marveled at how beautiful it was and held it up to the light, it almost seemed to shine with subtle highlights. He has no idea how you managed to create this, he had never even seen the dye of red or gold used in clothing before. Perhaps the celestial beings decided to bless you for your prayers and devotion. He gives one small squeeze of your hand as he ties the sleeve to his arm and he slips out through the same window he came from. He looks up at the mountainâs heâs scaled before setting on the tallest one. One so tall the elders say that it could reach celestia.
As he scales the mountain he can feel a taint tug on his thumb, before it slowly disappears. He closes his eyes for a brief moment, breathes in deeply, and continues upwards.
The Golden-Winged King
One of his first adepti duties was to investigate the place he once knew as his home. There had been a dream eating demon that had been spreading curses onto unsuspecting youths. Putting them into eternal sleep before they bodies finally succumbed and they passed away. It was horrible and Alatus swore he would do everything in his power to make the dream demon suffer. Unfortunely, seeing as this was his first time venturing out back into the moral world and still recovering from his trials, he was assigned to work with a senior anemo adepti. One who was well-versed in using polearms that could âshow him the ropesâ as mortals would say.
This other adepti was too loud and erratic for his tastes compared to the calm and peaceful friend he once knew. Always getting side-tracked and flying around Alatus like some overgrown pixie. Never taking anything serious even though the both of you were tasked to destroy evil. But he held his tongue since this was his senior, gripping his sleeve when he was especially annoyed. This only seemed to spur the other anemo adepti further and inquire about the sleeve. Naturally, Alatus was hostile and guarded. That was first time he ever raised his voice which instead of becoming offended or angry, the other adepti was impressed.
From then on the other adepti seemed to want to interact with Alatus at any given moment. From checking in with him on his latest mission or if he heard about how the delicious flowers tasted. Who even ate flowers? Either way, every instance of communication was brushed aside, he would always make some weak excuse that he needed to train. Which lead to the other challenging him. The both of you were the same element so it would be a good time to see who was the best at wielding it. Overtime he began to look forward to your weekly spars. Even finding a bit of joy out of them. Ever since he had climbed up the mountain it had been constant training and hardships but when it came to these spars. It was fun. Alatus began to open his heart a tiny bit, letâs himself relax and fall into amusement when he seeâs his partnerâs face pop over him as they hovered over him.
He even began to feel his locked up heart start to beat a bit faster whenever he saw his partner perk up and wave at him. Whenever you threw your arm around him he never brushed you off like he used to, just basked in your presence as you rambled about how this stuck up bird was running everyone through the ground with her demands. It was amusing for fresh adeptiâs to see you both interact. The ever stoic and aloof Alatus that taught them through strict rules loosen up immediately and smile whenever your head popped up to scold him for his training methods.
It was fun. Until the day he became possessed and killed you with your own weapon.
Guardian Yaksha
Guizhong was concerned. Ever since Rex Lapis had saved the poor adepti man from his possession, he had locked himself in. He still fulfilled his duties with alarming accuracy but it seemed that he completely on auto-pilot. He could stand in the pouring rain without realizing it or he always seemed to be in such a rush. Asking to do anything that needed to be done rather than relax. He was going to end up running through his long years at this rate. She brought it up to Rex Lapis and his fellow Yaksha but none of them had the time or want to check in on him. It was a time of war after all. Except one.
You watch him stand in the rain. Any attempts from you or Guizhong to ask if he was better always failed and you didnât want to push. But this was already past the point of simple concern. So the next time you saw him relapse you walked over and embraced him. He usually carried himself as stiff as possible but you swore you were holding one of Rex Lapisâs pillars. You braced yourself to get thrown off or at the very least be questioned but none of those things happened. He just stood there and to be honest, you werenât sure if that was even more concerning. You both didnât say anything even when the rain stopped until Rex Lapis had summoned you both over.
You and him never developed a close friendship but he never seemed to brush you away whenever you sat beside him ever since you hugged him in the rain. A bare acknowledgement on good days but that was alright. Just sitting in each otherâs presence when the war wanted to be quiet somedays was nice. On harder days when fighting took too much of a toll on your body you would lean your head on his shoulder. He never shrugged you off or seemed bothered by it, in fact, it almost seemed as if he leaned back against you. You both never spoke during these moments, just a silent understanding looming over you both.
Then when Morax announced that Guizhong had passed away, you felt as if you somewhat understood how Xiao felt. You didnât even register that you had walked back to the same place Xiao was standing back when he was in the rain. The war was finally over but after everything that had happened to get to this point, it was hard. You knew that a few of your other Yakshaâs were ready to return to Jueyun Karst or return to earth. You blink quickly as you feel two arms wrap around you and you realize how funny fate seems to be. You choke out some unintelligible noise thatâs a mix between a laugh and a sob as you cling onto him and let your bottled up emotions pour out.
Heâs the last person you see in the newly established Liyue, wishing him luck in the rest of his journey, as you return to the earth. You arenât sure what youâll turn into but you hope that the peaceful atmosphere you both created will remain.
Xiao
It was completely out of the blue when you asked if he wanted to come on an adventure with you. You were both sitting under the tree that held the Wangshu inn up when you suddenly sat up and pointed in some far off direction across Liyue. Asked if he wanted to come with you after the lantern festival was over. He was a bit taken aback, you were a traveler first and foremost but you never asked if he wanted to come with you. You had always assumed that he wanted to stay as a protector of Liyue but after what Morax, now Zhongli, had said and how it was time to him to step down. You decided to ask him. It didnât have to be far, you both could go to the stone gate if he wanted, just if he wanted to come with you anywhere.
His first instinct is to decline but you end up cutting him off before he can say anything.
âI know you have your reasons and loyalties to stay as Liyueâs protector. Thatâs why Iâm not asking for you to accompany me across Teyvat. But I donât know when Iâm going to be back and after what happened in Liyue, I thought it would be nice to just, take a break, and go anywhere. You donât have to accompany me if you donât want to but I think itâd be nice to wander together,â you say as you continue to look across the land from the balcony. He canât see where youâre looking at exactly but he ponders your words.
To wander and go anywhere. Just the two of you. Heâs never even considered leaving Liyue even after all the demons were replaced with weak hilichurls and slimes. He gazes up at the treeâs leaves, looks further to see celestia, and even further back to his home. Guizhong always said he needed to relax and live in the moment of now rather than running past everything but was he really ready for that?Â
âAh, sorry was that a bit too forward? I really didnât mean anything ba-â
âYes. Letâs go,â Xiao cuts you off as his eyes shine in a new light of determination, âWherever you want to go, I will come with you.â
You blink once, twice, before a bright grin stretch's across your face as you quickly ask if heâs joking. Heâs not, and you cheer excitedly as you list off different places youâve wanted to explore. Perhaps the shoal? Maybe even further into the chasm? Actually wait, the electro archon has closed that area off so maybe not there. Xiao patiently listens to you ramble as he smiles softly. Your excitement is addicting and he can feel his heart flutter just a bit. How long has it been since he felt this way? He can feel a small tug on his thumb, he looks down but he canât see anything, but thereâs a comfortable weight that heâs felt has been missing for a very long time.
---
If this seems interesting and people seem to enjoy it, I can post the actual fic when Xiao banner drops as a bit of a catalyst. Itâs basically the same idea. Â Though itâs kinda long so I have no idea when thatâs going to be finished. It might turn into a thank you gift instead. (or ahem, you know, if you wanna commission me and see it earlier thereâs that haha just kidding;;).
Honestly, I took a lot of liberties. I read the lore on adepti and Xiao but most of this is my monkey brain and previous semi xiao fics (which you donât have to read but it would be helpful to see extended parts). Phew, this took a lot of time. Itâs not as cute as my other fics but hopefully you all enjoyed it^^
Actually, nevermind. I hate this. Iâll keep it up since I havenât posted this week yet but I hate this.Â

How did things get so messed up?
Warnings: Talk of murder, a single swear, Inko just sometimes thinks about murder, uh vigilante Izuku
Black Widow Inko! Part 2 featuring Dad Might vs Dad for One! This is honestly just Crack with a plot...
******************************************************
It seemed like yesterday he was in that hospital room meeting his son for the first time. Inko holding their sons tiny body, tears welling in her eyes as she beckoned him closer.
He walked over with no hesitation fully ready to meet Izuku (The name chosen by Inko who got to pick after winning a bet).
Sitting down next to his tired wife he stared down at the infant in wonder. The tiny human they'd waited 9 months for was finally here. Hizashi almost didn't know how to act for a second, so caught up in looking at the tufts of green hair and freckles covering small cheeks.
Reaching out Hizashi gently caressed Izuku's little face with a single finger causing the baby to let out a coo. He grabbed his father's finger in his little fist nearly bringing the 200 year old man to tears.
If asked that's how that day went to Hizashi of course Inko remembers him nearly flooding the hospital room but Hizashi would never admit that.
Tears or not that day Hizashi knew he would protect them with his life so how....how did things get so messed up?!
How did he end up sitting across from his arch nemesis?!
How did Izuku out of everyone in Japan end up with one for all?!
And most importantly how did All Might end up seducing his goddess Inko?!?!
Seriously Hizashi just couldn't understand how she could be with such a lowlife, she must not know who he is.
Never before had Hizashi felt such a deep burning hatred for anyone.
Currently he was sitting on the couch in his and Inko's apartment while she and All Might sat on the adjacent couch. No one spoke until Inko finally cleared her throat.
"Toshi this is my ex hus-"
"Current Husband."
She looked at him with eyes full of fire and a voice full of venom as she spoke. "You forfeited that title the second you thought not calling for 12 years was a good idea."
"...."
She always knew what to say to shut him up especially when she was angry. One of the things that interested him in Inko at first was how unlike most she got incredibly smart when angry.
She also got more sadistic, he could practically hear the gears turning in her head as she calculated all the ways she could kill him.
In this house he was not the devil no, the cute green haired woman sitting across from him was. In fact the murderous aura around her was very concerning, not that he feared for his life with witnesses around. He knew she'd be angry but he'd hoped him getting on his knees and begging for forgiveness would work like last time.
Meanwhile Toshinori was on the verge of having a mental breakdown. At first when he walked into the apartment after a date night he was shocked to find none other than All for One standing in his living room. He quickly pushed Inko behind him ready to defend her against Japan's greatest villain.
While he no longer held one for all that wouldn't stop him from protecting his wife with all he had. How did All for One break out of tartarus anyway?
And just how did he look like this?
All for one looked the way he did before their battle where he smashed his upper face in. All for one, who last they spoke had no eyes, hair and barely a nose now had all of that back and even looked a few years younger.
Each and every person in this room was plotting how to kill someone. Thankfully this day they'd all walk away unscathed.
Mainly because they all had a secret to hide from eachother.
Inko didn't want Toshinori to know about her past, Toshinori didn't want Inko to know who her ex was, and Hizashi didn't want to anger his wife further by revealing any of her secrets. (He may have been criminally insane but he wasn't stupid)
After all one does not rat out their ex-assassin wife's past to her new husband who is also the ex-symbol of peace. Lest they both team up, beat your ass and throw you back in prison or just straight up murder you.
"Anyway Toshi this is my ex husband Hizashi, Izukus father, he left about 12 years ago with no contact or information."
"Oh come now darling those divorce papers weren't serious. I understand you're mad but I'm back and I promise nothing will keep me away this time."
The utter nerve of this guy he really wants to die today! He's lucky he stopped wearing ties years ago or else Inko would've been choked him to death!
"Tea. I'm going to go make some tea I'll be back soon." She said with a strained smile resisting the urge to rip out Hizashi's teeth.
After she left to the kitchen the atmosphere got even darker the two mortal enemies now left alone.
"So it wasn't enough that you destroyed my face and took my son as your successor, you just had to go and seduce my wife too!"
"Your wife! Did you not just hear her she divorced you?!"
"Yeah all because of you and your meddling if you hadn't destroyed my face putting me in comatose I would've been there for her and Izuku!"
All Might paused for a second realization hitting him like cold bucket of water. Before he got his composer back not wanting the enemy to get the upper hand.
"If you hadn't have been quirk smuggling and stealing classified documents I wouldn't have had to!"
"Oh so it's all entirely my fault?!" Hizashi scoffed "I bet she doesn't even know what you did to me does she?"
Toshinori stayed silent it was true she may have known who he was but she didn't know about his hand in her ex husband's absence.
He had no idea how lucky he was she didn't know or there would be two dead men walking instead of one.
"I take your silence as a yes then?" Hizashi was a little smug now.
"Not like you've told her who you really are." Hizashi frowned at this causing Toshinori to smile "I see I'm right as well."
Well he was only half right he never out right told Inko she figured it out on her own. But All Might didn't need to know that, after all no use making Inko even more upset then she already was.
Meanwhile in the kitchen Inko was trying to figure out how to shoot her ex from the kitchen without Toshinori noticing.
While she knew it was impossible without blowing her secret a woman could dream.
As the tea finally came to a boil she noted the distinct sound of her sons bedroom window opening and closing. Knowing her son was back from his nightly vigilantism only done on weekend nights per their agreement. She briefly considered pouring rat poison in Hizashi's serving but decided against it.
Not that the good for nothing scumbag didn't deserve it. But just scaring him would do for now unless Izuku didn't want him in his life. After all he was Izuku's father and Izuku deserved to choose whether he wanted him in his life or not.
Bringing back a tray with the tea she sat the cups down with an eerie look on her face. "Here you go Hizashi I made yours just how you like it!~" She said sweetly.
Yeah Hizashi isn't drinking that, no way she definitely must have done something to it. He hasn't survived the past 200 years to die like that, thankfully his lovely queen isn't good at holding her emotions in.
"Thankyou darling you're too kind." He said taking a cup but not drinking from it.
Toshinori on the other hand called her buff he knew she wouldn't do anything. As he drunk his own cup he remarked on how good it was, well atleast he didn't have to worry about no real or imaginary poison.
Toshinori really didn't know what to do he was having a mental crisis. Should he tell Inko and young Midoriya the truth about All for one or not say anything? The boy would be devastated and would he really want to fight his own father when the time came? He would never forgive himself if it caused Izuku mental pain.
But if he turned Hizashi in to the hero commission they wouldn't know it was him. But he'd still have to deal with them being distraught and possibly hating him for not telling them sooner. Plus everything might become public and there's no telling how many enemies All for one has made that would be out for blood.
This was bad, both his morals and heart clashed at the thought of hurting Izuku and Inko they both quickly became the family he never got to have.
Izuku even started calling him dad for crying out loud! What would he call him if he found out his idol and mentor was the one who separated him from his biological father?!
"We need to settle this once and for all." Inko finally said still annoyed and just wanting Hizashi out.
"Yes you're right we should Inko darling. I won't make this hard, I promise I only want to see my son. Perhaps he can sleepover at my place on the weekends?"
Toshinori paled at that, if he got young Midoriya alone there's no telling what that monster would do to the boy. He could kidnap him, take one for all, and lock him away forever. Toshinori couldn't let that happen deciding he'd rather tell both Inko and Izuku who 'Hizashi' really was.
"Yeah no I don't think so you can have supervised visits and you can take him somewhere if I'm available to go with."
Yeah Inko wasn't buying what her ex was selling she knew he'd have Izuku quirkless and vaulted if she left them alone.
Not to mention that would force her to try rescuing him leading to her being vaulted as well.
But together they could defeat him after all he couldn't fight them both at once.
Hizashi was about to open his mouth when all of a sudden a voice called from the hall.
"Dad?"
"Yes son?" Both men said in unison before looking at eachother with a glare.
Izuku just stood there frozen in shock as his step dad and biological father glared at eachother. He couldn't believe his eyes, even though he heard his father's voice he just thought his mom finally got him on the phone. But this is unreal he never thought in his wildest dreams his father would be in front of him again.
He gripped his plan shirt that had "shirt" written on it in big white letters. His heart felt like it would beat out of his chest at any moment, a million questions going through his mind.
He was so deep in thought he didn't hear his mom get up from the couch and approach him till he felt her hand on his shoulder.
"Sweetie are you okay?" His mom asked him worried.
The two men stopped glaring at eachother now focused on Izuku concerned for him.
Tears came to the greenettes eyes as his voice shook with joy. "Dad!"
Hizashi was then tackled by the boy, slight bits of green lighting appearing on him showing his small use of one for all. Despite Izukus small stature compared to his father's hulking one, Hizashi nearly doubled over feeling like he was punched.
His son was a strong boy, he lamented the years lost since his little green bean was no longer little.
Wrapping his arms around his son Japan's evilest villain patted Izukus head. Causing the ex-symbol of peace to go into a coughing fit, a waterfall of blood pouring from his mouth.
"Dad are you okay?!"
Pushing away from Hizashi Izuku went to check on Toshinori as Inko offered up a handkerchief. Taking it in gratitude Toshinori thanked his wife before reassuring Izuku he was okay. "Thankyou son I'm alright no need to worry." Giving his signature grin he ignored his enemies death glare.
All for One the demon emperor would never admit he's jealous of anyone especially his arch-nemesis. But seeing his son coddle that blonde theif made his blood boil.
"Well this will be a new experience I never thought you'd call someone else dad..." Hizashi said with a strained smile his mouth lighting up with fire for a second.
He could always burn the blonde homewreaker with his fire breath good thing that was the quirk he with.
"Oh I guess it will get really confusing calling you both dad. But what other alternative names for you both? Or I could just call one dad and the other something else...maybe papa could work?" Izuku muttered suddenly, scratching the back of his head.
Both men looked at eachother realizing this could be the deciding factor. They knew that whoever got papa would win, after all it was the cuter of the two choices.
"Alright it's decided then!" Izuku claped his hands together a wide grin growing on his face. Both men sitting in anticipation at the boys verdict. The two looking like they were on a high stakes game show as sweat trickled down their foreheads.
"I'll call you dad" Izuku pointed at Hizashi "and I'll call you papa!" He then pointed to Toshinori.
Toshinori felt like he could do a cheer, his crops were watered, his stomach was back, his scares gone, everything in the universe was right.
That was until he looked over at All for One who he was sure would definitely kill him now if he wasn't going to before. His aura now darker than before as Toshinori's own aura glowed bright with happiness knowing he was the superior father figure in Izukus life.
Meanwhile Izuku ever oblivious to his father's fued just gave his mom his best smile feeling happier to have them in his life. After all they were his family and he wouldn't change that for nothing in the world.
******************************************************
Sometime later
Yoichi: Leave brother we will not leave this host!
AFO: Oh I don't want your quirk little brother, no not anymore.
Yoichi: Then why are you here what else could you possibly want?!
AFO: WHAT I WANT IS FOR YOU TO MAKE YOUR GOLDEN BOY LEAVE MY WIFE AND SON ALONE! HE'S RUINING EVERYTHING!
Yoichi: I see so that's what this is about...yeah no this is what you get. Consider this karma goodbye brother.
AFO: OH NO DON'T YOU DARE HANG UP ON ME TELL ALL MI-
Yoichi: *disconnects AFO from Izukus conscious*
AFO: *Sitting in Izukus room while his son sleeps* I can't believe it he hung up on me.
******************************************************
AFO: I'll have you know I did alot of good things I'm not a good for nothing scumbag!
Inko: Oh really name one good deed you've done since we got married.
AFO:............Well umm..... Oh! I had Izuku our son!
Inko: Hehe yeah no I had Izuku you just stood there and cried in the corner for 11 hours.
AFO: WELL YOU TRY BEING SUPPORTIVE WHEN YOUR WIFE CALLS YOU A- Wait no actually I adopted a stray child off the streets! That definitely counts as one good deed!
Inko: WHAT!?

Surprise Love
Requested by: @oneaboveallovervoid
Pairing: Stephen x Villain!reader
Genre: Fluff, Angst
Characters: Stephen, Y/N
Description: Stephen is falling in love with his long time enemy.
A hero, like Stephen, would never expect to fall in love with a villain; their bitter enemy, but that is exactly what happened. He couldnât exactly pinpoint the time that it happened; the only thing that he knew was that something about you pulled him in.Â
When you are cornered in New York by a mass of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, Stephen has to choose between his love for you and the city that he has vowed to protect.
âPut down the weapons and come with us.â You laughed maniacally at the stupidity of the agents that stood before you. âDo you really think that some simple humans like yourselves would stand a chance against something like me?âÂ
You threw the weapons down on the floor and powered up, engulfing yourself in bright blue energy. The agents readied up and began to fire at you, the bullets piercing the forcefield that surrounded you.Â
Shock ran through your body as a bullet pierced your skin. They had never been able to do that and it took you completely by surprise. You fell to the floor, injured and in pain, whilst the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents surrounded you. âWe knew these would work. We had them specifically engineered against your specific powers. So us âsimple humansâ got one over on you, Y/N.â
You tried again to power up, but it was no use. The bullet that injured you was inhibiting your powers and you had no way to defend yourself.Â
âStep away from her!âÂ
The agents turned around to the sound of the voice. Your eyes widened with both confusion and shock as Stephen Strange stepped forward.
âDr. Strange, what are you doing? This woman is a weapon of mass destruction, she needs to be stopped!â Stephens face contorted in a mixture of frustration and anger. âAnd you think that the best way to do that is injure her?!â
Mumbles ran around the group of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. One of them bravely stepped forward to confront him. âIâm sorry, but why would a hero like yourself, be interested in saving something like Y/N? Sheâs just attacked and robbed a weapons vault and you think that she deserves to be saved?â
Stephen took a deep breath. âI do think that she deserves to be saved, because I love her. I have for a while but I just havenât been able to tell her until now.â He looked straight past the agents to you, staring deep into your eyes. A strange fluttering occurred in the pit of your stomach, which only happened when you were around him.
He walked towards you, the agents clearing a path for him, Kneeling down beside you, he helped you up, careful not to injure you more. âWhy are you helping me, Strange? We hate each other; we have for a long time.â You moved away from him, unsure of the feelings that were brewing inside you.Â
âWe can talk about that later, but for now, go. Iâll hold them off whilst you find a place to hang low. Iâll come and find you when all of this is over.â You immediately took off in the opposite direction while Stephen held off the agents. A number of thoughts ran through your mind as you were running, confusing ones most of all.
You had found an abandoned shack on the edge of the city and took up shelter there. Finding a first aid kit, you took out the bullet and bandaged your wound. You could feel your power slowly returning to you as the bullet was removed.Â
A loud knock sounded at the door, which caused you to jump. You put all of your power energy into your good arm and walked over to the door, ready to defend yourself. When the door opened and revealed Stephen, you heaved a sigh of relief.
He walked inside and shut the door behind him whilst looking out for anybody who might have followed him. You sat on the bed and carried out the last remaining bits of first aid as Stephen walked towards you.
âWhat was all that about back there, Strange? I thought I was everything that you were against. Thatâs what you said the last time we met, anyway.â Your eyebrows furrowed as you tucked the edge of the bandage into itself and finished mending your wound.Â
He walked towards you and sat on the bed. âWhen I said those things, I was confused with what I was feeling. I was mixing up hatred with love and I shouldnât have done that. I just need you to know how I feel about you.â
You stared at him, a slightly confused expression on your features. âBut, Iâm a bad guy, Strange. And youâre a hero. A love like that could never work.â He leaned over and took your hands in his. âIt would if you used your powers for good. Put all of your anger into something that can help the world.â
You abruptly pulled your hands away from his and stood up, your eyes flashing blue. âWhy on Earth should I change what I am?! Just because a man has confessed his feelings to me Iâm going to magically change my ways. That may be what happens in the movies, Strange, but that is sure as hell not what is going to happen here!â
Your body was engulfed in a blue light as you flew upwards out of the shack, creating a huge hole in the roof of the shack. Stephen held his head in his hands and shook his head in disbelief.
âWhat made me think that I would be able to change her, to persuade her to change her ways? Iâve unleashed a powerful being onto this Earth who is full of hatred and anger.â
Stephen stood up and took a deep breath before taking off after you. He knew that he was the only one whoâs be able to stop you, no matter how much it hurt him. Â
This time, he would have to choose the city he vowed to protect over the person he loves dearly, and that broke him apart.

Snap Part 1
Read on Ao3Â Part 2Â Part 3Â Part 4
Inspired in part by the lovely @random-snippetsâs post here
Warnings: roman angst and everything that goes with it. self-esteem issues, self-hatred, insecurity. sympathetic everyone
Pairings: roceit, platonic DLAMPR
Word Count: 5540
Most things in life are flexible to some degree. You can push and pull and bend them in certain ways and, to some extent, they will comply with you. There are some things that you can bend and bend and bend. Creativity is one of these things. Creativity, imagination, dreams...they can be shaped and changed into whatever you want.
Bend...and bend...and bend...until they snap.
Janus enjoys teasing.
He finds that it often reveals true intentions much better than simply taking someone at their word. Plus, the range of reactions he gets is endlessly amusing.
Patton will stutter and stammer adorably, or heâll put on his Dad Voice⢠and attempt to scold. Logan, depending on what sort of mood heâs in, will sass him back or give him a death glare. Virgil definitely isnât the type to snipe back, keeping up with Janus blow for blow. Remus isâŚRemus.
But RomanâŚRoman is different.
Roman used to be the most fun to tease, puffing himself up in a fit of righteous princely indignation to defend himself, going red in the face only to be set off again moments later. Janus could spend hours just tilting his head this way and that as Roman muttered himself in and out of circles and paradoxes and contradictions. It used to be quite an effective way to shut the prince up, letting him stew in his own thoughts.
Itâs still an effective way to silence Roman, but itâs changed.
It started after the wedding.
Roman had shut himself away in his room, much to the chagrin of the others. They expected a temper tantrum, they expected sulking. Logan and Patton were constantly on standby for the minute Thomas would start being affected by it.
They didnât expect Roman to emerge a few days later and quietly ask to talk to each of them.
He apologized.
A proper apology; for mocking his name, for calling him evil, for dismissing him out of hand. Janus can only guess by the looks of pleasant confusion mirrored on the other Sidesâs faces that they received similar apologies.
Janus hadnât been surprised when Roman extended a nervous offer of having him and Remus come around to their side of the Mindscape more often, saying that they hadâŚvaluable insights to offer. He hadnât been surprised to see Roman extend the olive branch to Remus, only for Remus to promptly snatch it up and hug his brother so tightly Janus winced in sympathy for Romanâs ribs.
Patton, as was to be expected, was overjoyed, throwing his arms around the princely side in what could only be described as euphoria. Logan had been surprised, saying he hadnât expected Romanâs surprising amount of maturity regarding the issue, including the way Roman had promised to listen to him more often. Virgil had shrugged, saying it was about time Roman started doing that anyway.
He hadnât thought anything of it, not really. And it had been pleasant, being listened to. Not being treated like a villain.
He shouldâve known it wasnât going to be only a few days for Roman to completely change his black-and-white view of the world.
Roman listened more, that was true, but he didnât talk as much either. He stood quietly, occasionally asking softly for clarification.
ââŚL-Logan?â
Logan pauses mid-sentence, glancing over at Roman. Roman sits there, twisting his fingers together.
âYes?â
âCan youâŚslow down a little bit?â
Logan blinks. Heâd been talking about recent discoveries made in the field of quantum physics, just getting to the part about how SUSY particles could reconcile the different interpretations of the expansions of the universe. Roman had been the only one who volunteered to listen, and he half-expected Roman to dismiss the topic entirely or say he had some important thing to go to. He had not been expecting this.
Roman did not seem to interpret his silence in this way.
âItâs just,â he stammers frantically, âitâs not that Iâm not interested, I am, I can assure you, Iâm justâŚIâm having trouble keeping up with you.â
He balls his hands up tightly in his lap, staring at Logan with a frantic sense of urgency.
âItâs okay if you canât or you donât want to, y-youâre not boring me, I promise, and I donât want you to stop, but can you please try and talk a little slower? I donâtâŚI donât want to miss anything,â he trails off.
âItâsâŚitâs quite alright, Roman,â Logan says carefully, âIâm happy to slow down.â
Romanâs face breaks into a relieved smile. âOkay, thank you, I donât know whatâs going on with me today.â He taps the side of his head with a self-deprecating smile. âNot all here, it seems. Sorry, Specs.â
âYou neednât apologize, you havenât done anything wrong.â Logan adjusts his glasses. âI would be more than happy to slow down. Are you quite sure Iâm not boring you?â
âAbsolutely not.â
Logan smiles. ââŚgood.â
âC-can I say what Iâve gotten so far,â Roman asks hesitantly, âand then you can correct me where Iâm wrong and then jump back in when we get there?â
âOf course.â
Roman had Remus share almost as many ideas as he did, but he didnât share his own as much either.
âRoman? Do you have anything to add?â
Roman shakes his head, a small smile on his lips as he watches Remus bounce excitedly on the balls of his feet.
âI believe we have a solid idea,â he says, gently elbowing Remus, âand there is nothing I can do to improve it.â
âYou know, Ro-Bro,â Remus says, shoving Roman back, âyouâve gotten so much less boring.â
Roman chuckles lightly, picking himself up off the wall. âIâm glad youâre happy.â
âOh, I am!â Remus claps his hands. âBut are you sure we canât build in the part aboutââ
âWe are not unearthing a roadkill corpse, Remus.â
Roman didnât puff up when he was teased anymore, but he didnât defend himself in any other way as much either.
âCould you be more extra,â Virgil sighs, nudging Roman, âreally, Princey?â
Roman pauses, before slowly lowering his hands. âI am, arenât I?â
Virgilâs eyes widen. âGuys! Guys, I got Roman to admit that heâs extra!â
âYou did what?â Remus vaults over the couch. âYou did it!â
âThat is in fact a marvelous breakthrough,â Logan says, drinking his coffee, âespecially for Roman.â
âGood to see youâre finally developing some self-awareness, kiddo,â Patton says with a wink, patting Roman on the shoulder.
Janus smirks, shifting in his chair. âYes, because Romanâs observational skills have always been at the forefront.â
âAlright, alright,â Roman says finally, waving his hand, âIâm extra, I get it.â
It took far too long for them to realize that just because Romanâs behavior had changed, it didnât mean he wasnât still struggling with the ramifications of it. It took them far too long to realize that Roman still clung to the ideas of heroes and villains, the roles had just shifted. It took them far too long to realize that the ego, still hiding its black and blue skin, was still living in fear, waiting for the other shoe to drop.
It took Janus far too long to realize he wasnât doing his job.
âOh, come now, Iâm only teasing.â
âAnd thatâs supposed to make everything better, is it?â
Janus pauses, the sharpness in Romanâs voice killing the follow-up in his throat. His eyes donât widen at how Roman looks at him. For the first time in a long time, Romanâs gaze is filled with fire as he stares at Janus. It gives him pause for a moment. Just a moment. Then his smirk is back.
Good. You were starting to get boring.
âYou realize that saying youâre teasing doesnât make it hurt any less, right?â
âOh, sweetie, thereâs really no need to get so worked upââ
âDonât pretend that your intention has not been to make me uncomfortable.â
âThen whyâre you letting it get to you so?â
ââŚso if Remus tries to knock me out with his morningstar, I shouldnât get hurt because itâs his intention to hurt me?â
Janus blinks. This is absolutely the direction he thought Roman was going to go. âThatâs not quite the same thing.â
âSo I shouldnât prioritize emotional and mental pain the same way as physical pain?â
ââŚI didnât say thatââ
âOh, Iâm sorry, is it frustrating to have your words taken out of context and applied in ways you obviously didnât mean? Wow, I wonder what that feels like.â
Janusâs surprise is hidden quickly as Roman takes a deep breath in. He expects Roman to bite back, to push, to hurl acid-laced insults at him. Given how Roman has been taking most ofâŚthis lying down as of late, he expects it, even if he would be a little...disappointed. In some way, he doesnât deserve it.
Thatâs exactly what happens.
ââŚI understand that you care and you help in your own way. And Iâm grateful for it, really, I am. YouâŚyou make people look at themselvesâreally look and you make me think and itâs great but itâs exhausting.â
Roman buries his face in his hands, pressing his fingertips hard to his eyes. It doesnât hurt to see him soâŚtired.
âI canâtâI canât do this all the time. I canât do this most of the time. You know that. As a matter of fact, it wouldnât surprise me if that were the point.â
ââŚI do have a point.â
âYou always have a point. Thatâs the problem. You are nothing but points, thereâs nothing to you butââ
Roman stops, taking a deep breath and pressing his forehead with a fist.
âNo, sorry, thatâsâŚthatâs not true. The version of you that you choose to present to me and to the others most of the time is nothing but points. There is no softness. No give. Not an ounce. Itâs always a fight. I have toâŚdouble and triple check every single thing that comes out of your mouth, and Iâm notâŚIâŚâ
Another deep breath. Something softens.
âI respect you. I admire you. I like you. But I donât know what you want from me.â
Janus isnât shocked.
Not just at the fact that Roman is expressing all of this out loud, not just at what Roman is saying, but how the bitter taste slowly filling his mouth isnât coming from any of it.
Roman isnât lying. Not about this.
What happened in those days when you shut yourself away?
It takes him a moment to realize Roman is waiting for an answer.
âI donât want you hurt.â
Roman huffs. No malice behind it, just exhaustion. âYou enjoy putting me in situations that actively make me uncomfortable and you have enjoyed hurting me in the past. Try again.â
Thereâs a moment of silence. Then Roman sighs.
âLook, I donât think Iâm in the right space for this conversation and the last thing I want to do is mess this up any more than I already have, can weâŚcan we do this later?â
He nods slowly, even though it takes him back to hear Roman ask for something. It doesnât sting a little to know he isnât the one thatâs made it easier for him to do so.
âThank you, Iâyou...you know I care about you, right?â
Not many things can take him by surprise, not many things can make him more surprised than this conversation already has, but thisâŚthis earnest confession, this does. He nods.
âGood.â
They donât speak for days. They donât even see each other for days. Then Roman has an episode.
The others are away, helping Thomas. Roman is alone. He rides the attack to its end but heâs still trying to recover. This one was bad. He needs to get up, he needs to eat, he needs to drink, he needs to but he knows if he stresses out too much about this, heâs just going to send himself into another attack. Heâs trying to breathe but itâs hard. Itâs so hard.
Janus wasnât even looking for him. And yet there he is, sprawled on the floor, hunched over, hands trembling as he struggles to breathe. For a moment he worries at how much he can feel that Romanâs afraid. Afraid of Janus. JanusâŚhe hasnât exactly shown him hisâŚfull capabilities.
And, in his defense, really, Roman is so clever, so sweet, so open that he canât help but play with him, test him, poke at his comfort zone just enough to see him squirm. And Roman is lovely, truly, he is. And yes, part of him was thrilled when Roman finally snapped at him, but heâs right. Janus isâŚhe has not been good to him.
Time to change that.
He approaches slowly, crouching, and offering a hand. The suspicious look that he gets doesnât hurt his chest. He does blame him. But Roman trusts, he trusts too easily sometimes and this wouldnât be the first time Janus has ever taken advantage of it. He tries to convey that he wonât break it when Roman takes his hand. He tries not to think about how much of this is Roman going along with it if only to prevent himself from being hurt.
He leads Roman to one of the common spaces on the Dark Sidesâ hallway. Itâs almost never used anymore, not since the barrier between Light and Dark started breaking down. He looks at Roman to see such an unsure expression that he canât help the soft noise when he guides him to sit on the couch.
Janus keeps Roman in the corner of his vision as he carefully shrugs off his cloak. He considers draping it over Romanâs shoulders but decides that might be a bit too much. Too much for right now, even as his mouth starts to taste bitter.
What does he want? Roman canât stop thinking it. Heâs three seconds away from another attack, whatâs happening, whatâs going on, I donât know what to doâ
A gentle hand cups his chin and he distantly thanks whatever higher power there may be that Janusâs gloves arenât a bad texture. But then he has to make eye contact and oh itâs the worst. He doesnât know whatâs keeping this fragile peace. He knows Janus will see through any mask he tries to put on right now. Â
But not wearing a maskâŚheâs not sure he remembers how to do that.
He tries.
Iâm trying, Iâm trying so hard, canât you see? Canât you see that if you just tell me, Iâll be good? Whatever you want, I can do it, I promise, Iâll be good, I can be good, but I canât do it if I donât know what you want and if you tell me Iâll do it, just tell me what you want me to do, I canât figure it out, I want to be good, but I donâtâI canâtâwhat do you want?
Janus sees. He sees all of it and it doesnât break his heart.
He lets Roman go, the ache getting worse when he immediately shuts his eyes. He crouches, waiting.
When Roman opens his eyes again, he tries to offer. What do you want? Let me help, if you want?
Too much, perhaps. So he tries smaller.
Romanâs unsure when he offers his hand again. HeâŚJanus doesnât like being touched. But would he really be offering if he wasnât okay with it?
Janus smiles when Roman reaches a trembling hand out. Slowly, carefully, he takes it in two of his, playing with it gently. Running his fingers over the back, tracing the knuckles. Romanâs hand is so much more...worn than the others. There are calluses, scars, so many stories that Janus canât help exploring, smiling a little when the light touch makes Roman twitch. Even here, Romanâs scared of doing something wrong. His fingers tremble, try and move to match the shapes he makes.
Keeping Romanâs hand in his, Janus stands, tugging in a gentle ask for Roman to come with him. Roman stands up too fast and a second pair of arms shoots out to steady him. He looks so smallâŚsmaller still when Janus sits them down on another couch, between his legs.
Stay with me, Roman.
Playing with his hand again gets his attention, the second pair of arms holding Roman close. He waits. Waits to gently tug that hand a little closer. Roman shuffles. His phone tumbles out of his pocket and Janus catches it with his third pair of arms, setting it carefully on the table.
He lays back, all six arms accounted for. Waits.
Is something you want?
Roman looks so apprehensive, reaching out with his other hand. He folds Roman in gently, letting him move at his own pace, easing his weight down on top of Janus like theyâre afraid of hurting him. As soon as heâs all the way down, still propping himself up to keep the weight off of Janus, Janus embraces Roman tightly, smiling a little at the way he instantly goes limp, exhaling sharply. Part of him takes a little selfish pleasure at having Roman in his arms; heâs so warm, heâs just the right weight, he fits so perfectly. But heâs still so tense, poor thingâŚ
Just as he did with his hand, he explores gently. He lightly traces up and down Romanâs sides, wiggles his fingers as he runs them along Romanâs spine. Smirks a little when he feels Romanâs muscles tense and shift as he squirms under the gentle attention. Sweet little thing is ticklish too, hmm?
Like Roman, he doesnât want to risk breaking this moment with too much noise, but he has to really fight the urge to coo and fuss when he starts scratching his hands through Romanâs hair. Roman whines for him, completely involuntarily, and itâs so small and tired and hopeful and adorable that he canât help seeing if he can make him do it again. He can.
They have no idea how long they lie there but an alarm on Romanâs phone breaks the silence. Janus barely glances at the labelââstop and get back to workââas he shuts it off. He laments its intrusive presence as Roman startles horribly, scrambling up. And he canât help himself, he catches him.
Roman should get back. He should do so many things but Janus is being so kind and heâs not too warm and Roman has no idea how heâll react and what if they never get this chance again and heâs holding him so gently and the way heâs looking at himâŚ
Is this something you want?
Janus lets out a soft oof when Roman throws himself at him, wrapping his arms around him so tightly heâs sure it hurts. But itâs the thing he wanted and the thing Roman wants and itâs perfect.
He clings to Roman just as tightly until his own arms ache from it. Still, he holds on, until Roman slumps, burying his warm face into his scales without hesitation. Romanâs breathing stutters, heâs still so scared...so Janus softens, gentles his grip, goes back to the soothing touches from before. Tries to lull Roman back into that half-doze they were in before. It takes a long time, much longer than heâd like. Roman keeps jerking himself awake, his fists clenching and unclenching, unsure where to put his head, where to put his arms.
He breaks finally when his fingers hit a sensitive spot on Romanâs back and Roman gasps, Janus instinctively holding Roman closer and smoothing the hair away from his ear.
âShhâŚshhâŚâ One pair of his arms come up to hold Romanâs hands. âShh⌠shhâŚâ
I want you to calm down, Roman, thatâs all I want right now. ShhâŚ
It takes several minutes of careful shushing to get Roman to relax, several more before his breathing evens out and he dozes, right there in his arms.
They still need to talk. Romanâs carrying so much grief with him that, now that heâs looking, he can see the strain. Roman is so tired, he can feel it. And he desperately wants to know what happened to turn Roman into this frightened creature, constantly bracing for a blow, so confused in the face of any affection. But for nowâŚ
Heâs self-preservation, protection when protection is needed most. Of course he can be caring.
He leaves Roman in Pattonâs care, giving them the space they need to make sure he doesnât push. Not now, perhaps not ever. He receives a gentle thank-you when they happen to pass in the corridor. And itâsâŚgood. Thereâs a sweet aftertaste in his mouth when he talks for a few days.
A few days later, his mouth tastes horribly bitter again and he knows itâs time. He appears to see Roman sitting ramrod straight, staring at the wall.
ââŚwell, you certainly look as calm as can be.â
âOh. Hi, Janus.â
âHello. What seems to be troubling you?â
âOh, you donât need to worry. Iâm alright.â
The lie tastes sour. âMay I join you?â
Roman nods.
âThank you.â
âDid you need something?â
âAre youâŚin a proper enough headspace to have that conversation?â
ââŚyes. Yeah, I think so.â
He canât quite taste another lie. This is probably what Virgil means when he says itâs important to trust people about their own boundaries.
âI have a proposition for you. I would like you to hear me out before commenting.â
âOf course.â
ââŚyou lie quite often.â Roman nods. âYou are not of the opinion that lying is inherently wrong.â
Roman shakes his head nervously.
âYou use lying as a defense mechanism to protect yourself, donât you?â
A new wave of bitterness.
ââŚdo not be afraid,â he says quietly, âitâs quite common.â
Romanâs brow furrows a little.
âYour first response to any question that causes a heightened emotional response is usually a lie,â he explains, âbecause your instinct to protect yourself kicks in and forces you to say what you think the asker wants to hear.â
Romanâs mouth tightens.
âIt also coincides with the need to make yourself as small as possible. If youâŚdo not require many things, or if you do not actively contribute to things that require any extra effort, odds are you will not be hurt.â Janus tilts his head. âI believe Virgil calls it âbeing low maintenance.ââ
Roman huffs a laugh and looks away.
âDoes that sound about right?â
ââŚmhm.â
Janus fiddles with the cuffs of his jacket almost absentmindedly. Roman has developed aâŚparticular style of dishonesty that intrigues him.
Roman is very open about vulnerable topics; speaking freely and without hesitation about how he feels about his looks, his mannerisms, his sexuality, pretty much every aspect of themselves that the Sides can think to ask about. But thatâs not the same as actually being vulnerable. Itâs hiding behind too much honesty, taking advantage of the fact that others donât tend to talk about those types of topics in that much detail to let them mistake it for actual vulnerability. But itâs not. Itâs just a different type of hiding.
Itâs not a lie. Not even a lie of omission. Which means itâs harder for Janus to detect. Even harder for the others. So itâs easier for them to believe Roman is more honest than they are. Which let him get away with lying, let him get away with sacrificing his own needs, let him get away with hurting himself.
The pitch is the easiest part, Janus decides. Definitely.
âVirgil and I have an arrangement of sorts,â he opens with finally. âLogan helped us figure it out. IfâŚone of us receives an answer they believe is untruthful, a second chance is offered.â
âAâŚwhat?â
âIf I ask Virgil a question, or if Virgil asks me a question, and we donât believe the answer we receive to be true, we say: âsecond chance.â Then we have another chance to answer. There are never any consequences for lying, or choosing to take the second chance.â
ââŚsoâŚâ
âSo if I were to ask you whatâs troubling youââ
âItâs fine,â Roman says quickly, âreally, it is.â
Janus gives him a small, sad smile. No, no it isnât, but this will serve as a good point.
âSecond chance?â
Romanâs mask slips. Itâs a good mask. Right up there with Patton, and Logan, if heâs being evaluative. Perhaps even up there with his own. But itâs cracking.
âYou know itâs unwise to try and lie to me, dear,â he pushes.
Ah. Too much. Fear swells up behind Romanâs eyes and he stammers.
ââŚIâŚâ
âIf you do not wish to tell me,â he soothes, âI will not force you too.â
âThen I would rather not say,â Roman says carefully, each word laid down for Janusâs inspection.
âAnd there are no consequences.â
The wave of pure relief that washes over Roman is enough to make Janus smile properly. Thereâs a horrible moment where he looks like he doesnât believe it, heâs waiting for the punchline, but then it doesnât come and Roman just slumps, a massive weight rolling off his shoulders. Janus canât help but watch the corner of his mouth tick up higher and higher as he realizes itâs okay.
âWell, judging by that expression,â he says, âthis certainly will be awful for you.â
Another thing about Roman is that for some reason, probably tied to his connection to the Imagination, is that he has thisâŚfield around him. Janus is sure Loganâs not interested in it at all and they havenât spend hours upon hours talking about it. But he can feel the wave of care and love and relief that hits him, making his heart ache pleasantly in his chest.
Itâs gone far too quickly and Janus isnât saddened by it, his brow furrowing when Roman fidgets with his hands, obviously trying to work up the nerve to ask something.
ââŚwhyâŚwhen you said this was common,â he says eventually, âwhat did you mean?â
Ah. This wonât be difficult at all.
âTheâŚsophistication of your coping mechanism indicates that it has been developed over a long period of time,â he starts.
ââŚokay?â
âNot uncommon in victims of abuse.â
âWhatâŚwhat are you talking about,â Roman stammers, obviously trying to laugh it off, âIâI havenât been abused.â
Oh.
Oh, thatâsâŚoh, RomanâŚ
âWe have ridiculed you for expressing vulnerability,â Janus murmurs, âwe have ignored you when you express deep feelings. Sometimes, when you attempt to speak about them, we tell you that your feelings are not worthy of your reaction, or we are indifferent.â
Janus shifts, letting his regret bleed into his voice as he continues.
âWe have manipulated you to get what we want. We have used shame to make you feel bad.â Janus clenches his fists in his lap. âWe have led you to believe things are your fault when they arenât. We have pushed you to question your sanity.â
Thereâs an awful silence.
âWeâve been gaslighting you, Roman,â Janus murmurs, âand worse. Tell me, what does that sound like to you?â
Any semblance of relief from earlier vanishes, replaced by denial, worry, panic, and so much anxiety for a moment Janus worries Virgilâs going to be summoned.
Then his mouth fills with an acrid taste, coating his tongue so much it almost chokes him.
ââŚIâm sure you know that Iâm summoned by continuous lying.â Why I appeared in the first place.
Poor Roman barely hears him enough to nod.
âI know what the lies are when I hear them.â
Another nod.
âWhich means,â he murmurs, reaching out and gently touching Romanâs temple with two fingers, ââŚI can hear these.â
Roman freezes.
âThere. That.â Janusâs eyes widen. âOh, oh no, sweetie, Iâm not here to be cruel to you.â
Roman doesnât hear him.
âBreathe, honey, come onâŚin for four, hold for seven, out for eight.â
Romanâs not breathing at all. Janus leans forward to try and help when Romanâs mouth opens, his voice sharp and determined.
âWhen people lie,â he says, âdoes it hurt you?â
âWhat?â
âDoes it hurt you?â
He knows what Romanâs asking and he adores it, of course he does. He adores that Romanâs so worried about hurting him, not himself, Janus, that heâs willing to punish himself by forcing away a defense mechanism that heâs had for years because it might be hurting Janus. He loves it.
ââŚno. Not a direct correlation,â he says, âno. More often than not, I can tell or sense what the truth would be andâŚthat is not often pleasant. But no, Roman, you are not physically injuring me when you lie.â
âAnd what about when youâre telling the truth?â
ââŚsweetie, stop. Youâre going to hurt yourself far more that youâre going to hurt me.â
Romanâs face pinches as he looks away, so determined that it looks completely painless. It doesnât hurt.
âWould you like a hug?â
âN-no, no, Iâm fine.â Romanâs hands donât shake. He doesnât hunch around himself protectively.
âSecond chance?â
ââŚplease?â
âCome here.â
Heâs warm, but not warm enough. His aura is relieved, but not relieved enough. Heâs still, but not still enough.
The bitter taste in Janusâ mouth isnât horrendously painful.
âNo, sweetie, youâre not being inconvenient.â
You have hidden this so well, so well we never realized how much this hurts you.
âIâm not angry with you for trying to protect yourself.â
I will be the first to admit that I haveâŚnot acquitted myself well from the things I have done to you, please let me try now.
âYouâre not hurting me.â
Donât deny yourself comfort, especially when you need it so badly.
âAnd no, sweetie, I donât hate being touched as much you think I do.â Janus does find it easy to cry, he does get overwhelmed easily. And yet the lies he can hear right now threaten to make tears spill over. ââŚmust you be so cruel to yourself?â
ââŚsorry?â
Ah, yes, apologies. Thatâs a conversation for another time. Janus sighs, running a hand through Romanâs hair. âAt any rate, itâs not like youâre nice and warm and much better suited than the others.â
Finally, the bitterness recedes, just a little. Janus swallows, washing away the last vestiges on his tongue, cuddling Roman closer. He looks down, seeing his mouth open and close. Laying a finger gently against his lips, he shushes Roman as he tries to speak.
âHush, you donât have to say anything, sweetie. I understand.â
âOkay,â Roman huffs, âI will say the wholeâŚmind-reading thing is not ideal.â
Fair enough. âI am only paying attention right now because you seem to be having some difficulty speaking,â he murmurs, chucking him gently under his chin, âI will not be all the time.â
âOkay.â
âOr you could simplyâŚnot lie to yourself.â
âUnrealistic.â
It makes him laugh a little. âSomething to work on, no?â
Roman nods, gently head-butting Janusâ hand. He smiles, cupping Romanâs chin, idly tapping his fingers. The smile grows when Roman closes his eyes, tipping his head back so Janus can scritch lightly.
âPerhaps it will help you with these,â Janus murmurs, lightly stroking his fingers over the shadowy bruises just below Romanâs collar, âhmm?â
ââŚThomas, huh?â
Janus raises an eyebrow when Thomas summons him. âWell, this is entirely expected.â
âI need your help.â
âThen this canât be serious at all.â
âItâs about Roman.â
Janus pinches off the rest of his sarcasm. âTell me.â
âI, uh, I made aâŚdiscovery,â Thomas says, âaboutâŚthings.â
âHow remarkably descriptive.â
âYou know the phrase âbruised ego?ââ
Janus stiffens at Thomasâs words. ââŚI am familiar.â
ââŚturns out itâs a lot more literal than I thought.â
Oh.
Oh, no.
Itâs Janusâs job to protect the ego.
WhatâŚwhat has he done?
âHe doesnât care for you at all, sweetie.â
Roman opens his eyes, peering up at him with poorly disguised hope.
âNeither, for that matter,â he continues, running a thumb over Romanâs jaw, âdo the others. Virgil, for one, despises you for being able to make him feel so wonderfully safe.
âPatton thinks the absolute worst of youââ he pats Romanâs cheekâ âand the care that you give so freely to others.
âRemus, well, he of course doesnât value you at all,â he drawls as he tucks a loose piece of hair behind Romanâs ear, âlet alone your willingness to touch and interact with him as heâs so used to that.
âAnd Logan would definitely prefer it if you were to never be so clever and considerate ever again,â he finishes, stroking his thumb across his forehead.
âI donât think,â Roman murmurs, âthat Iâve ever been so glad to be pretty fluent in sarcasm.â
âYes, your sarcasm is absolutely awful.â
âYes, I know, I love you too.â
He expects a familiar bitterness to wash over his tongue. It doesnât.
Oh.
Oh.
âYou donât have to say it,â Roman mumbles, almost about to doze off in his arms, âyou donât have to say anything. Itâs justâŚitâs there if you want it.â
âI definitely wonât take it,â he says as he presses their foreheads together, âand you definitely canât fall asleep right here.â
There needs to be another conversation. He needs to know what happened after the wedding. He needs to know how, or perhaps more accurately, why Roman changed in the span of only a few days. He needs to know how Roman got so good at pretending.
He tries not to think about how much worse heâs made it.
âŚhe also would like to know exactly what Roman meant when he said he loved him.

Eren, and that f*cking white bird
Okaaaaay so, hereâs an absolutely nonsensical, self-indulgent crack fic alternate scene for you all. Inspired by this comment from Slutty Pennywise @a-slut-for-smutâ that made me scream, fall out of my chair, and laugh for five! minutes! straight.
Babes, youâre a genius and despite what you say, I think youâd make an excellent writer. This comment is proof of it. Hope you enjoy this nonsense. đ¤

Lord, please forgive me. Eremika sympathizers, do not read this. Rated T. Unedited. Content Warning: description of thoughts on animal abuse/cruelty and foul language. Without further ado:
Levi lifts his chin, ignoring the hammering of his pulse, the desperate need to take a deeper breath. âYou donât like it.â
Her lids flutter, surprised, but then Levi watches the defensive arching of her taut shoulders, the half-curl of her free hand forming into a fist. The hand holding the necklace grips tighter, her knuckles turning white.Â
âThatâs not it,â Mikasa says carefully, chewing her bottom lip. Her tepidness is dissolved by the time she releases it. âI love it, Levi. Itâs perfect. Growing up, I⌠I imagined a houseâ a homeâ like this one. And by the end of the war, after everything we went through; a place like this, this freedom, this peace⌠itâs all I wanted.â
He can tell she means every word that she says, the same as he can tell thereâs still more she is reluctant to say. Mikasa takes in the vaulted pine ceilings, the grand open floor plan, the oil-painting worthy view of the coast from the front windows. Itâs not that sheâs been unseeing, Levi realizes. Itâs that sheâs seeing something he cannot. Like sheâs seeing ghosts.Â
Mikasa turns back to him, openly distraught. âItâs everything Iâve wanted, but itâs⌠itâs notâ...âÂ
Her words are wrecked with grief. Her watery, washed-out gray irises are drenched with it. A grief viscously different but no less despondent than others heâs witnessed from her.Â
Itâs notâŚÂ
Waiting for the rest of her words is like standing next in line at the gallows. Levi waits, the quicksand no longer just beneath his feet, but filling into all four chambers of his heart.Â
Mikasa tries and fails to finish the sentiment. She looks everywhere around the room, at her boxes, at the enormous front windows, at the fireplace in the adjacent living room, at the staircase leading to the upstairs rooms, but not to him. She looks everywhere except to him.Â
Thereâs only silence between them, a horrible, throbbing sort of silence. It stretches on, tense and endless, until a seagull cries in the distance. A sharp, abrasive shriek that instantly spikes Leviâs agitation.Â
Retired or not, soldiersâ instincts kick in. Both Levi and Mikasa turn toward the avian cry, intently focused on the interruption. The window they search appears empty at first, but the second Levi blinks, planning to turn away from it, the gull comes into view.Â
No ordinary gull, the bird is a large, white creature, its plume of feathers spread out so majestically, Levi has to blink twice to be sure heâs seeing it right. The bird all but floats down onto the windowsill, itâs tail feathers arched toward them to bow down.Â
What a pompous, stupid-ass little fucker bird, Levi thinks first.Â
But when he glances at Mikasa, her distraught eyes widened by recognition, another thought registers. Eren.Â
A cold, heavy reality settles over Levi. When the understanding comes to him, it's the noose tightened around his neck. It isnât ghosts that Mikasa is seeing; itâs a Ghost.Â
Itâs not who she wanted, Levi suddenly understands. Thatâs what she meant to say: Itâs everything I wanted, but itâs not who I wanted it to be with.
Levi glares at the pompous, stupid-ass little fucker bird, and the pompous, stupid-ass little fucker bird glares right back. Itâs black, beady eyes are eerily reminiscent of a flash of green during youthful cries for vengeance. Erenâs ghost lingers beneath those white plumes. And Levi knows, in that moment, Mikasa isnât the only one being haunted.Â
He stands there, stone-still, not at a desperate loss, but with a dismal certainty. Even from the grave, Eren has managed to cockblock him.Â
The gull cries out again, a shrill, stomach-curdling wail, and Levi can almost hear itâs demands. For Titans to be destroyed, all of them wiped out from their world. Iâll kill all of them, the bird shrieks. Every last one of them!
If only the loud-mouthed brat had been half as passionate about the woman who loved him.Â
Levi canât help but wonder. Can he roundhouse kick the little fucker bird off the windowsill just like he did to Jaeger in the courtroom? While he fantasizes, Mikasa sighs, forcing her teary-eyed gaze from the white bird.Â
She looks as though sheâs about to speak, but before she does, Levi interrupts.Â
âAlright,â he says, carefully if not coldly. âI see.âÂ
Mikasaâs owlish blink is more than just weary, but he doesnât have the ability to focus on it.Â
Levi looks at her like sheâs a collapsing house of cards. A deck he shuffled and a hand he dealt to himself. The precarious arrangement made possible by his stubborn refusal to acknowledge its inevitable outcome: they were built to fold inward and fall apart.
âSee what?â Her confusion is laced with an edge of warning, a question as much as a threat.Â
Levi plans to ignore her warning. The harsh words are about to fly out, but then the seagull cries, once, twice, thrice. It wails, repeatedly, and every muscle in Leviâs body twitches with the impulsive need to launch forward and snap the little fucker birdâs neck.
âWhat the fuâŚ,â Mikasa mutters, shock quickly turning into agitation. âWhat is wrong with that thing?â
Levi huffs. âTch.â
What wasnât wrong with Eren? Heâs about to answer, a bitter retort on the tip of his tongue, when the little fucker bird cranes its neck all the way to the side, appraising him. Levi narrows his eyes, bracing himself for whatever it does next. His battle-scarred hands clench into fists, itching to get a hold of the avian cockblocker.Â
Mikasa takes a hesitant step toward it. âMaybe itâs hurt?â
âMaybe itâs stupi--âÂ
The gull launches itself face first into the window, its frantic beak darting against the glass pane with wild impatience. Despite connecting with the glass, it continues to throw itself forward, squalling again. Its cries become so viciously, obnoxiously loud, Levi has to push his fists into his side to stop from covering his ears.Â
âIâm going to throttle it,â he announces, projecting over the whining gull. Â
Mikasa takes a hurried step forward. âNo, no, you canât.â
âWhy not?â Levi throws another lethal glare at the bird, unwilling to sympathize with it. âThe little fucker is just going to kill itself first.â
Mikasa tries to approach the bird on the window, but it's cries become more despondent, itâs thrashing more haphazard. The white bird squalls so loudly at her nearing approach, she has to jump back.Â
âWalls,â Mikasa swears, frowning. âWell..., maybe we should put it out of its misery.â
Levi almost sighs aloud in relief. âYes, we should.âÂ
The words are barely out of his mouth before sheâs brandishing a knife, pulling the weapon out from God-knows-where with God-like speed.Â
She is Godlike. Strong and perfect, beautiful and fierce. Her dark hair falls in messy, sensual waves, her clothes still half-wet from her recent swim. They cling onto her figure, displaying every curve, and heâs reminded of whatâs beneath them. How she feels when his hands take violent hold of her, how she arches while he glides his tongue up, over, and in her. The glint of steel flashes at her side, an expert hold on the knife between her anything-but-delicate hands, hands that have pushed through his hair, roamed over his chest, took confident hold of his cocâ
âLevi,â she says, amused.Â
He looks up to her face, surprised at the dark glimmer of mischief and lust in her eyes. Only a moment before, sheâd been upset.Â
âWhat?â he asks. Realizing how hoarse he sounds, he subtly clears his throat.Â
She gestures to his waist, with a feline grin and mewl of breathless laughter that tells him exactly what heâll find before he even looks down to check.
Watching Mikasa Ackerman pull a knife out on the bird in Erenâs image has given him a hard-on.
âHmm. This turns you on,â Mikasa acknowledges slowly, smiling wickedly.Â
Levi is shameless. He reaches down to readjust himself better in his pants, unblinking while he meets her gaze. âYes. Yes, it does.â
She tightens her hold on the knife, lips parting, and drops her focus onto his handâs familiar hold on the bulge beneath his pants. Sheâd rather be holding him.
âOh,â she breathes. If the gull is still shrieking, neither of them hear it. âWell then. What do you want me to do about it?âÂ
Mikasa lifts the knife, twirling it deliberately with one hand, and waits for his reply.Â
Levi decides not to remove his hand now that heâs finished readjusting. Instead, he grips himself harder.Â
âI want,â Levi starts, low and guttural, â... I want you to kill that pompous, stupid-ass little fucker bird.â
Mikasa hums briefly, a moan of approval, and bites down onto her bottom lip. âGladly.âÂ

Best Mistake â Hamish Duke x Reader (x Knights)
Requested by @mysticalcrownbear
Prompt: The Knights accidently summon you, (the reader) a succubus when trying to summon Zecchia. You have a strong liking towards Hamish Duke, and heâs very much into you too.
Word count: 2,095
Hope you guys like this!! Sorry if itâs crap - requests are open!!
Masterlist
Best Mistake Part 2
âItâs not that they have all our stuff...they stole it. So - letâs steal it all backâ Jack whispers as he leans forward, straightening his posture in seriousness.
âAre you suggesting a magic heist?!â Randall says, stalking towards Jack
âYes. A magic heistâ Jack replies as he steps up from the couch. Both boys shine a ray of mischief in their eyes and madness in their energy
âMAGIC HEIST! MAGIC HEIST!â They both chant, as Hamish and Lilith begin joining in synchronisation
âMAGIC HEIST MAGIC HEIST MAGIC HEIST!â The Knights chant like toddlers demanding candy.
â
âWell you didnât think to warn us about that?!â Lilith hissed, eyes dark with fear and damage after the images sheâd experienced. Hamish, Jack and Randall all sat with Lilith in the Blade and Chalice collectively recovering from their fear corners. Lilith rocked slightly from side to side whilst Jack was holding a pack of ice on the side of his head. They were tired, scared, drained...but desperate. They couldnât get into the vault without being stuck in the âfear corridorâ. Hamish chugged a swig of his whiskey, slamming the glass down onto the table with force, trying his best to forget what he went through -
âStupid Ricky Simarco and his stupid fifth birthday partyâ he groaned, eyes fixed into a trance like state
âWhat did you see?â Randall asked Lilith, who replies with a simple ânothingâ.
âNothing?â He asks again, confused to why she didnât see anything
âNothing.â She confirms, although her shaken state says otherwise.
âOkay, since we canât get through to the vault, i found the perfect solutionâ Jack enthusiastically gushes. âWe summon a demon! Thereâs loads of different types to summon and i think i found the perfect one!â
The fellow knights all look around at each other in suspicion...could this actually work? Or is Jack literally insane?
âItâs name is a Zecchiaâ Jack points towards a yellow dusted page in an old, crippled book âitâs a baron demon, meaning it steals anything that the summoner desires it toâ
âWonât we have to do something for it? You know, a catch?â Lilith questions, her big brown eyes looking up to Jack
âNo! You see thatâs the beauty of it. We call it, they show up, we pay the toll and theyâll do our bidding!â He replies almost as if it was complete rocket science. âYou just gotta follow the protocol perfectlyâ
âIâm in-â
â-Me too!â Hamish and Lilith both declare with their whole chests, meanwhile Randall starts struggling with the decision...
âNope.â He announces. âNo thanks. No way. Nope. Not a demon. Not ever.â Adamant as ever, he puts his hand on the table as a way to stand against the debate. He gets up and walks away before the others can stop him.
âWeâre still doing this.â
âYeah totallyâ
âHeâll get over itâ
-
Hamish, Lilith and Jack all stand around the summoning circle, ready to summon Zecchia, the thief demon.
âZecchia, appear before us so that we may negotiate the fee for your service to empty the vault of the Hermetic Order of the Blue Rose and remand those goods into the possession of the Knights of Saint Christopherâ they all chant in synchronisation. Below their feet is a demon trap, purposed to trap the summoned demon in order to negotiate wisely. As soon as they finish the chant, a sound of wind brushes past them...but shorty followed by silence.
âZecchiaaa?â Jack quietly echos into the distance of the house, uncertain if the summoning ritual worked or not. The 3/4 knights walk around the hallway wondering where they went wrong.
âMaybe we messed up the incantation?â says Lilith
âWe did everything right?â Hamish replies
Suddenly, the door bursts open as Randall rushes in, slightly out of breath
â- guys STOP donât do this-â He shouts as he blows out the candles nearest to him on the floor â-Alyssa and i were discussing demon summonings and-â
â-and you suck at itâ you pipe up.
Emerging from the shadows of the staircase, you quietly and elegantly walk down, eyes never leaving the people below you...but one in specific - the man dressed in the waistcoat. Youâre wearing a red, laced spaghetti strap bodysuit thatâs tucked under a pair of tight fitted sheer black leggings (clearly iâm not going to have you wear only underwear and a bra like every other succubus - *que that not on MY WATCH vine* we are more PG here yâall - also may i add, your body size does not matter here. All body types are beautiful and you should love your body, donât fall for these skinny stereotypes! Curvy girls are breathtaking too!!! <3 okay back to the story lmao). With midnight black wings as beautiful as can be and horns impeccable in sight, you stare with your big Y/E/C eyes as your long Y/H/C, silky locks fall past your shoulders. The sound of your black stiletto heels click and clack on the wooden floorboards, as further silence echos in the walls. The Knights are struck by your beauty, chocked for words at what theyâre seeing in front of them. You swiftly bring your wings to your side, stroking your arms as you approach the people below you.
âYouâre not what...we...expectedâ Randall slurs- i mean drools ;)
âThatâs because iâm notâ you sigh, bringing your arms across your body. âYou summoned me, a succubus. Not Zecchia. But hey, youâre not the first...youâre meant to use alcohol as a summoning ingredient. Sheâs a sucker for it...senses it from many realms awayâ you continue, shaking your head and rolling your eyes playfully. Looking around the room, you canât help but keep looking back to the tall man who has a perfect complexion and long, dirty blonde hair with blue crystal eyes. With lips so succulent...you want to kiss all over them and run your hands through his locks, as he uses his large, soft hands to roam around your body-
âSo who did we summon?â Your thoughts are interrupted by the small, gorgeous lady to your right. She has blue streaks in her black hair, and a cute little button nose that you want to just *boop*!
âIâm Y/N, a succubusâ you smile delicately at the woman in front of you, glancing back to the man who caught your eye before.
âAnd you are?â You question, turning your attention to the male on your right
âIâm Lili-â
âNot you! This handsome gentleman in front of meâ you point with your long, âblack as nightâ painted fingertip towards the tallest man.
âI-iâm Hamish. Hamish Dukeâ he replies, cheeks blushing a gentle shade of crimson.
âYouâre really hotâ you tease, biting your lower lip in hot anticipation at your dirty thoughts. Hamishâs eyes widen at this, bringing his hands towards his front slightly.
âI could say the same for you, loveâ He gulps. He doesnât know this, but you can actually read his thoughts; images of him pushing you up against the wall, his hands on your ass as your legs wrap around his middle, lips working sweet magic as youâre caressing his face and hair...leaving small, wet pecks on his neck as he moans your name out loud, thrusti-
âHey, iâm Randallâ the tall, pretty brunette calls out, stepping towards you. He brings his hand out to shake, to which you accept. A huge grin is painted across his face as his hand touches your dainty one, Lilith just rolls her eyes and huffs.
âOkay okay letâs wrap this up hereâ she remarks, pulling Randall away from you. You turn to see a shorter male, who sports platinum blonde hair that falls to the side of his face. His eyes are wide, mouth slightly parted and eyebrows furrowed.
âAre you alright, pretty boy?â You ask, genuine concern across your face. Randall giggles like a school boy at your words, repeating (and i quote) âhehe pretty boy heheeeâ quietly in the sidelines whilst pointing at Jack.
âI....uh....hiâ Jack replies, fixing his hair after noticing you were looking at him
You lightly laugh âhi, cutieâ
You look back over to Hamish, as his filthy visions are still happening
âI can read your thoughts, you knowâ you laugh as he blushes bright red and covers his front completely now
âItâs okay, i liked themâ you continue in a husky tone, stepping closer towards him with your hands in front of you, gasping to be touching him.
He reaches his hand out towards your stretched hand, gently touching your fingers and delicately wrapping his large ones round them. You both intertwine fingers, as gazes are locked onto you both. He pulls you towards him, his head tilting slightly in awe at your appearance.
âUhhh...okayyyy?â Lilith gawked as the rest of the Knights share glances of pure confusion and slight panic.
You chuckle lightly at Hamishâs actions, as
he wraps his arms around your lower back, swaying from side to side.
âYouâre beautifulâ he whispers into your ear which sends excited chills down your spine. He smiles looking down at you.
âWhat is happening right now?â Jack asks the others, who shrug their shoulders watching like hawks. Lightly, you plant a small kiss on his lips...which Hamish returns, only with more passion and lust. The kiss deepens as his hands grip tighter and your thrusting into him for more becomes intolerable, until you both need to release for air.
âUhh Hamish? Y/N? Hello?â Randall waves his hands in the air trying to signal Hamish, but proves useless. As youâre heavily gasping in air, you notice Hamishâs mouth - your red lipstick has smudged all over his mouth
âBRO you look like a clown!!â Randall cracks up, laughing hysterically. Jack and Lilith snort upon seeing Hamishâs state, but he doesnât care. He quickly and forcefully grabs you again and drops you bridal-style whilst passionately making out with you once again. Jack, Lilith and Randall all look back up from their laughter fits to see you two basically eating each otherâs faces. Suddenly, itâs not that funny anymore - just disturbing.
âOkay thatâs enough, Ham-burgerâ Randall shouts. Nothing.
âYo Hamish dude stopâ Jack sings, which again does nothing to Hamish and you.
âYeah this is now how i thought my Tuesday was going to goâ Lilith says as she gestures towards you two. âIs he enchanted or something?!â
âI uh...maybe?â Jack mutters
âMaybe i am tooâ Randall eyeballs you and Hamish âwait...i said that out loud didnât i?â he quickly looks down and plants his face with his hands. Yeah...he was totally thinking of a threesome at that time.
Begrudgingly you break the contact between yours and Hamishâs soft lips and lift yourself up from his arms, yet he continues leaving sweet, soft kisses on your neck.
âI know what youâre thinking, cutieâ you look up to Randall, who squeals in embarrassment and mouths âdonât tell themâ towards you, making you laugh.
âWhat were you thinking about?â Jack asks
âBasically he was thinkin-â you begin
âNO no NO DONâT say anythingâ Randall barks out, breaking Hamish from his trail of leaving kisses down your neck
âYou know what nevermindâ Jack grunts as he scrunches his eyebrows up in discomfort.
âOkay this is getting too weird now. Hey, Y/N can we get Zecchia pleaseâ Lilith asks, seemingly annoyed
You sigh loudly, clearly annoyed that your fun was about to be wrapped up âfine. But i want to see you againâ you say, stroking Hamishâs hair out of his face.
âWhy does she have to go? Canât she stay for a little longer?â Hamish pleads, but is shut down by Lilith giving him a death stare whilst growing towards him.
âItâs okay, sheâs right. Okay well this was amazing. Call me againâ you say as you wink towards Hamish, whoâs knees buckle slightly. You walk towards the middle of the room and straighten yourself up, lifting the strap of your top back onto your shoulder.
âNice to see you, loveliesâ you give a little wave with your hand, then click your fingers and disappear. The Knights all glare round to Hamish, who straightens himself up and buttons his waistcoat back up.
âHave fun there buddie?â Randall quips, smirking slightly at his friend
Hamish doesnât say anything, he just looks down in embarrassment
âOh, and you might wanna-â Randall gestures for him to wipe his lips, as Jack and Lilith silently chuckle from the other side of the room.
Itâs safe to say, you left your imprint on Hamish Duke...and he wonât be forgetting that any time soon.
Let me know what you guys thought, and of you want any more fanfic :)

(My Very Own) Top 20 Sterek Fics
Here is my very own Top 20 Sterek Fics (out of order)
For me, these fanfictions are a âMUST READ NOW!!!â kind of deal. These authors have so much talent, itâs incredible. These stories are just marvelous and deserve LOVE ! So, I decided to share them with you.
Iâve read most of these fics several times and some of them are even my bedside table books (with Harry Potter and the Prisonner of Azcaban and Jane Eyre)
So here we go!
1:Â Enemy Lines by @qhuinn -Â 150k - Explicit - Dystopia - Enemies to friends to lovers - Action/adventure
This is the story of werewolf Derek Hale and human Stiles Stilinski: two people who grew up in the same town but completely different worlds, their realities split by the war between men and wolves.
Years later when Derek returns to Beacon Hills, he does it as Alpha of a military pack on a mission to capture those responsible for the regionâs resistance. With his main objective, Sheriff Stilinski, out of sight, he settles for the next best thing: his son, Stiles.
Neither of them suspects theyâll need to trust each other if they want to make it out this alive.
2:Â Actions Speak Louder than Words by @isthatbloodonhisshirt - 435k - Explicit - The BEST and slowest burn there is - Spark Stiles/Mute Derek - Friends to Lovers
âI apologize.â The cop finally looked back up at his face, seeming thrilled. âItâs justâitâs been so long. And we finally have you.â
That was a bad word. Not found.
Have.
Stiles wrenched his hand free and took a step back, but before he could even think up a gameplan, he felt a prick in his neck and jerked away, reaching up to slap one hand against it and twisting in the same moment.
One of the others had come up behind him while he hadnât been paying attention, and his vision began to swim even as his eyes caught sight of the half-empty syringe the guy was holding.
3:Â Radio Tower by @hyperlittlenori - 130k - Explicit - Dystopia - Hope - Slow Burn/BuildÂ
Everything was different. The world he knew was gone. Itâd been a long time since heâd started thinking he was probably one of the last humans on earth, that out there the only sentient beings were those that would devour him whole. He wasnât sure why he continued with the radio broadcasts, continued to talk into nothingness. The only explanation was that there was a spark of hope in him yet that he wasnât alone. The lonely safety Stiles has built around an old radio tower in the middle of nowhere is about to be broken. Stiles isnât sure if Derek is a harbinger of chaos or hope at the end of the world.Â
4:Â The Hollow Moon by @thepsychicclam - 180k - Explicit - Fix-It - Memory Loss - Slow Burn/Build
It's the summer after Stiles' first year of college, and he's working a crappy job and dealing with nightmares and anxiety - but he's okay, he swears. He makes it through most days without too much trouble. Then, a certain werewolf comes back into town. Which Stiles doesn't care about, nope, not at all.
After two and a half years, Derek returns to Beacon Hills with his small Pack. Though he tried to move on, something just kept drawing him back to Beacon Hills, he's just not sure what. Now, he figures he can start building something like a life - but he keeps getting distracted by Stiles Stilinski of all people.
5 : Amor Fati by @alocalband  - 43k - Explicit - Consent is sexy - First Time - Fluff & Angst
When Stiles gets thrown into the bank vault about twenty minutes after him, Derek isnât even surprised. As it turns out, neither is Stiles.
6 : (not so) Pure Imagination by theroguesgambit - 33k - Explicit - Shared fantasies - Angst with a happy ending - hotdamn!Â
"There is a world where whenever someone fantasizes about you, you can physically feel it, but you have no idea who is thinking it about you."
Stiles knows it's wrong, but he's been Fantasizing about Derek and he can't bring himself to stop. Derek doesn't know who's taken an interest in him, but he's enjoying it way more than he probably should.
7: What I Did On My Summer Vacation by grimm - 119k - Explicit - Wolf!Derek - Slow Burn/Build - Friends to Lovers
There's something weird about Beacon Hills that Stiles can't quite put his finger on. The way everyone in town knows his name the day he arrives. The way they insist the melancholic howling that echoes through the forest every night is just a dog. The way his dad denies getting a dog, even though Stiles comes home to find one sprawled across his bed, some big black thing whose eyes gleam red in the right light. The way that massive oak tree out in the woods vibrates under his touch, pulsing with sickly life.
There's something weird going on in this town, and Stiles is determined to get to the bottom of it.
8:Â Stand Fast in Your Enchantments by @devildoll - 77k - Explicit - Captivity - Feral!Derek - Angst with a happy ending
"Stiles knew damn well what a pissed-off wolf sounded like, and every hair on the back of his neck was telling him that somewhere in this room was a very pissed-off werewolf." An AU in which Derek is feral, Stiles is magical, and they eat a lot of fast food.
9 :Â What Fresh Twilight Bullshit Is This? by @isthatbloodonhisshirt - 196k - Explicit - Soulmate - Slow Burn - MisunderstandingsÂ
âI am not Bella!â he insisted, shaking his fist angrily at Jackson, as if heâd been the one to suggest he was. âI am not Bella! I am, like, a Jacob, at least!â
Lydia made a noise of debate from his right and he whipped around to look at her.
âWhat?! What was that sound?!â
âYouâre more of a Mike,â she insisted, shrugging neatly and flipping some curls over her shoulder.
âWhaââ Stiles had never been so offended in his life! âI am not! No way! I am a solid Jacob!â
âMike,â she argued.
âWhoâs Mike?â Scott asked.
âShut up, Scott!â Stiles insisted, pointing a finger at him but still glaring at Lydia.
10 : taste your beating heart by @cinematicnomadâ - 112k - Mature - Pack Dynamics - Slow Burn/Build - Stilinski Family Feels
Something was wrong in Beacon Hills. Derek was halfway across the country when he felt a call to return to his hometown, and somehow Stiles had been talked into letting the werewolf stay in his guest bedroom. This could lead to nothing good.
11 :Â between the click of the light and the start of the dream by @thepsychicclam 105k - Explicit - Pack Dynamics - Getting Togheter - Fluff & Angst
A twig snaps, and then Stiles hears breathing and the rustle of leaves. He strains to get a better glimpse into the darkness, but itâs pointless. Thereâs nothing but a black void.
It's Stiles' senior year, and he's trying to concentrate on normal things - like the lacrosse championship, spring break, prom, graduation (and definitely not Derek) - when he starts having nightmares and waking up in the middle of nowhere. Oh yeah, and he's being haunted by a hag. Great.
12: And You Say You're Alone by taelynhawker - 30k - Explicit - Pack Dynamincs - Bad Friend Scott - Romance
Between the kanima, the Argents, and Peter's untimely return from the dead, everything has fallen apart. Stiles and Derek try to put their lives back together once the crisis has passed. Stiles deals with the aftermath of being tortured, and the distance growing between he and Scott. Derek attempts to become a stronger alpha and keep his pack safe, and that includes Stiles.
13: Trust Fall by Stoney - 144k - Explicit - Body Swap - Hurt/Confort - Slow Burn/Build
Stiles is fairly certain that a case could be made for every bad thing in his life coming back to Peter Hale. This time it's pissing off a powerful witch, who retaliated by swapping Stiles and Derek a la Freaky Friday, because sure. That makes sense. Um, there are GPAs on the line, not to mention the whole thing where his dad wants to shoot Derek on sight. Except who he sees as Derek is actually Stiles, and Stiles did not sign up for filicide.
Great. Wait...does this mean he's the Alpha until they figure this out? Holy. Shit.
****
Derek had stood in front of the bathroom mirror for a few minutes trying to control the panic as he saw himself as Stiles. As the loud mouthed human friend of the pack. He was going to kill Peter. He was going to kill the witch, then he was going to kill Peter. Maybe even resurrect him again just to kill him all over.
They were going to have to play this cool. They would have to stay calm and focused. Which is of course why the universe threw him into this situation with someone who physically couldn't be calm and focused.
Of course.
14:Â Gravity's Got Nothing on You by @zosofi - 84k - Explicit - Fake/Pretend Boyfriends - Humor - Romance
âThree weeks,â Derek says.
âStill donât want to,â Stiles says.
âIâll pay you,â Derek says, and that⌠that has Stiles interested. Alfâs Antiqueâs may be a great job, but itâs not a high-paying job, and half of Stilesâs tuition is coming from financial aid, soâŚ
âHow much,â Stiles asks, âare we talking here? Because I know your family, dude. And itâll be kind of awkward after.â
âMy family thinks youâre some sort of fucking gift to the world,â Derek seethes, like heâs jealous, âtheyâll probably be pissed at me when we break it off, so donât worry about that. Five hundred bucks.â
âA thousand,â Stiles says, because screw ethics. Also, the Hale family is loaded. Derek can deal.
15:Â Every Step You Take by @nokomiss - 49k - Mature - Magic - UST - Secret Feelings
Stiles accidentally ends up magically bound to Derek. Itâs super.
16: Baking My Way Into Your Heart by theSilence - 179k - Mature - College AU/Coffee Shop AU - Slow Burn/Build - Friends to Lovers
Derek is an uptight college student, all work and no play. His carefully scheduled life is thrown kilter when his regular barista is replaced with someone new.
17:Â Windows by @drgrlfriend - 83k - Explicit - Blind!Stiles - Friends to Lovers - Found FamiliesÂ
Derek has a new neighbor who won't stop looking.
Excerpt:
âYouâre blind,â Derek said flatly, the anger draining from him so suddenly he felt almost woozy. His vision cleared, his claws sliding back into blunt fingernails.
âThanks for the memo, genius,â the kid said acidly. âI can still fucking defend myself, so donât take another damn step.â
âFuck, I...Iâm sorry,â Derek stuttered.
âWhat?!â The kidâs brow crinkled. âI mean â what?! Youâre fucking sorry!?â His lips thinned into a harsh line. âWhat, is this some kinda Hallmark movie where youâre discovering the error of your ways because you donât want to rob a blind person?! Thatâs fucking condescending, man. Iâll have you know that ââ
âJust, wait.â Derek interrupted what was apparently the start of a convincing argument as to why he should rob the kid after all, feeling his head start to spin. âThis is â itâs a misunderstanding. Iâm â Iâm not robbing you. Youâre â youâre safe, okay? Iâm taking three steps back. Just â just let me explain.â
âExplain why you came busting into my apartment? Yeah, go right ahead, man, I canât wait to hear this epic tale.â
18 : Just to See You Again by MellytheHun (@loserchildhotpantsâ) - 15k - Explicit - Love Letters - Getting Together - College AUÂ
A sterek college!AU where writing student Stiles specializes in love letters, runs a blog about it and can be commissioned to write love letters on behalf of lovers who are at a loss for words.
He makes some cash, heâs good at what he does (especially when he gets to be a little more explicit in his letters), it pays for his textbooks and thatâs all heâs really looking for and life is fine. That is, until someone anonymously commissions him to write a love letter to mathematics student, Derek Hale.
19:Â Chasing Slumber by @hyperlittlenori - 21k - Explicit - Post-Nogitsune - Porn With Feelings - Fix it
Stiles finds solitude and a glimpse at recovering from his ordeal with the Nogitsune in a dingy motel far from Beacon Hills. Inhuman blue eyes follow his silent struggles in the darkness of the room and he can no longer pretend to sleep, pretend he hasnât been profoundly changed by all that has happened. He can only let his fingers stretch out across threadbare but clean sheets and clench around them, in a failed attempt at not reaching for Derek.
20 :Â the thread is ripping by @thepsychicclam - 36k - Explicit - Pinning - Angst with a happy ending - Flashbacks
Stiles is 27 now, with a masterâs degree and a career and a house and a serious boyfriend and a life in San Francisco that doesn't include Derek. But then Stiles unexpectedly shows back up in Beacon Hills, and Derek would recognize that scent anywhere.

Chapter 13
Itâs your time, itâs your day, itâs never too late, to change lanes.

Frank could tell something was off the minute he pulled onto the yard. The usual chatter that rang out was absent and there just seemed a general air about the place that he couldn't identify. But it wasn't long before he found out why.
"Fliss is on the floor!" Maryâs voice loud with worry as she pointed into the paddock. Frank glanced over as he shut the door to his truck and felt himself grow cold. He broke into a jog, heading towards the fence and let out a sigh of relief when he saw she was moving.
âWait hereâŚâ he instructed Mary before, with a flourish, he vaulted over the side of the paddock and jogged across the riding paddock.
 âWhat happened?â he asked.
âOh, hey Sailor!â Fliss grinned up at him, where she lay flat on her back, Thor led by her side, head on her thigh. âJust had a fall but everythingâs working, just giving myself a minute to get my breath and what not.â âNothing broken.â Joanne looked at Frank from where she knelt by Fliss, the reins to the big, black horse in her hands
Frank knelt down next to Fliss and looked at her as she reached out and gently ran her hand down his forearm. âHow dâya fall off?â âOh Bronson got confused at the jump, was trying to dodge out to the right. I corrected him and he kind of took off, twisted mid-air and I got unseated.â she explained.
âIt was a pretty good show of acrobatics.â Joanne nodded in agreement.
Thor gave a little whine and his head moved, his eyes looking up at Fliss who scratched his ear.
âIâm ok, mate.â she said softly. âIâm good.â
"This wouldn't happen on a boat ya know" Frank teased gently and she looked up at him, quirking an eyebrow as she propped herself up on her elbows.
"Boats are boring...nothing like having a half tonne animal between your legs" she replied, causing him and Joanne to smirk.
âYouâre terrible.â Joanne shook her head as Fliss simply grinned.
âOkay, Iâm good to go." Fliss sat up fully. Frank got up off his knees and held out his hand, gently pulling her to her feet. She dusted herself off and then turned to take Bronson's reins off Joanne.
"Can you give me a leg up?" She asked and Frank felt his heart stop
"You cannot be serious!" He spluttered back.
 "What?"
 âYouâre getting back on?â
âYeah.â Fliss looked at Frank as if he was stupid âIâm not hurt, not really, just gonna ache like hell for a few days. Itâs the same as riding a bike, you donât stop if you fall off!â âItâs a little different to riding-â
âBesides,â she spoke over him, âheâll be unsettled and if I donât get on and end the session well itâs gonna be in his mind, and mine for that matter, for next time and itâll just be a nightmare soâŚâ
Frank knew there was no point in arguing with her. Instead he held his hands up and backed away as Joanne boosted her up.
âWhat happened?â Mary asked as he reached the paddock fence she was now perched sideways on, her legs hanging either side.
âShe fell off.â Frank answered simply. âSheâs okay though. Sheâs back on.â They watched as Fliss gently walked the horse round before picking up trot, then canter and then turned him straight for the jump. Frank grimaced slightly but he neednât have bothered, the horse cleared the fence and Fliss gently slowed him down, patting him.
âFucking crazy.â Frank mumbled to himself, shaking his head.
Whilst Fliss wasnât seriously injured, she was certainly feeling the effects later on that night. Frank had called Verity, despite Flissâ protests that she was fine, who had dropped round to Frankâs with some painkillers that were slightly stronger than your average ones. Fliss had taken two before dinner and as a result had started feeling a little bit woozy and light headed, commenting to Frank that it felt like sheâd been smoking something funny. After diverting Maryâs questions on what that meant, theyâd watched a bit of TV until Fliss announced she was thirsty.
âIâll get it.â Frank made to move but she stopped him.
âIâm fine.â she sat up with a grimace, grabbing at her notoriously bad shoulder.
âBaby, just-â âFrank, stop it!â she said a little sternly. âIâve fallen off more horses than youâve had women.â âWow.â he looked at her, and she snorted.
âI just mean it ainât the first time and it sure as hell wonât be the last, kinda comes with the territory. Iâm just gonna a bit bruised.â
âFineâ he relented, and she pushed herself up off the sofa and walked slowly into the kitchen.
A moment later he heard her groan âFraaaaaaank.â âWhat?â
âThe sodaâs on the top shelf. I canât stretch my arm.â âWhatâs that? You do need my help?â âStop being a dick.â she shot back, and with a wink at Mary who was laughing, he stood up and headed into the kitchen.
Not long after that they all ended up heading to bed. Frank knew that tomorrow was going to be a long day as he was getting the keys to the new apartment in the morning and they were starting the work straight away, Bill already scheduled to come and help. Heâd booked as much time as he dared off work over the next week, given that he hadnât been working there all that long but thankfully his Team Leader had been very understanding and Bill had said heâd take over on the days Frank had to be in.
Fliss stretched out, hissing at the bite of pain that coursed through her side and shoulder, the noise she made caused Thor to immediately spring up on the bed, nuzzling his face into Fliss' causing her to wince a little as he basically led over her like a huge teddy bear.
"Careful, buddy." Frank gently chastised the dog, reaching over to scratch his ears. He knew the animal was incredibly tuned into Flissâ feelings, as were Cap and Heidi, the two horses she owned. It was something that genuinely amazed him and, if he was honest, made him smile a lot.
"Stupid soft git." Fliss muttered fondly, as Thor lay his head on her chest, teetering on the edge of the mattress, precariously, until a few seconds later he rolled and toppled off causing them both to giggle. The German shepherd shook himself off, shot them a scathing look, before he headed to his bed and flopped down with a loud huff.
"He didn't like it when you were on the floor before." Frank said softly, as she moved tenderly to lay her head on his chest. His hand reached round to card through her hair and down the side of her neck.
"No he never has." Fliss said gently "Ever since I got him he's been like that. He would always be the one that would lay by me, lick my face after...." she trailed off, the sentence didnât need completing. "He would growl something rotten at John when he started, but it was Loki that went for him in the end. That's why John killed him"
Frank stiffened, his hand stilling on the crown of her head, not quite sure he had heard right. "He killed your dog?" he repeated, questioningly.
"Yeah." Fliss swallowed. âHe said he had bought him as a guard dog for the property not for me." She sniffed a little. "He poisoned him"
"Oh, Lissy, I..." Frank sighed and she gently tangled her hand in the hair on his chest.
"I know."
They lay still for a moment, her hand tracing shapes on his skin before she suddenly blurted out.
"How do you do it? How do you make being with you so fucking easy?"
 "What?" Frank frowned.
"This...I mean...you're kind, gentle, smart, funny, considerate. You know Iâd half convinced myself you were gonna be crap in the sack to compensate it all but..." she shook her head. "I donât get it."
"You don't get it because you spent almost four years living with a cunt who treat you like shit" Frank said simply, anger flooding his system. âLissy, Iâm not perfect, far from it. Iâm stubborn, opinionated, shit with words, Iâm really untidy as youâve noticed and, well, up until meeting you my longest relationship in the last ten years lasted for six months.â He shook his head. âAll I do is treat you how you should be treated, with love and respect. Donât put me on a fucking pedestal for being normal.â
She tilted her head and looked at him for a second, as Frank took a breath. That outburst had been a little uncalled for and harsher in tone than heâd meant, but he wanted her to understand that their relationship was normal. The way he treat her was normal. He was uncomfortable with this idea that she thought he was something special because he didnât abuse her or hit her.
âIâm sorry I justâŚâ he felt her stiffen besides him and he let out a soft sigh.
âNo, Iâm sorry I didnât mean to sound so abrupt.â He gently pulled her closer and nuzzled his face into her hair, kissing her head âYouâre worthy of everything I said as a bare minimum. Itâs not me being some kind of saint.â
âCan I put you on a pedestal for being gorgeous?â she asked after a momentâs pause and Frank snorted, shaking his head. âWell you are.â She protested at his response. There was another pause, until she broke the silence once more. âI do get it you know. Maybe I do appreciate you more because youâre not like him but, is that so wrong?â
âIâm not saying that, weâre together, we should appreciate each other.â he pressed. âIâm just telling you Iâm not flawless.â âI know that.â she shrugged âNeither of us are. But isnât that what makes this so perfect? It is because it isnât. Better a diamond with a flaw than a pebble withoutâ
âConfucius.â Frank raised an eyebrow at her, a small smile on his face as she looked up at him once more. Her eyes flashed and she grinned at him âHow very philosophical.â
She laughed âWeâll youâd know all about that, Professor.â
âOkay, hereâs another one of his.â Frank grinned back. âOur greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fallâŚâ
âSee, I told you I was right to get back on Bronson.â she quipped and at that Frank laughed.
******
Fliss woke the next morning to Frank gently kissing her cheek, softly running his hand over her hair.
âMorning Sweetheart.â he placed a mug of coffee on the side as she blinked and looked at him âHow you feeling?â âFucking sore.â she groaned. âWhat time is it?â âHalf eight. I just packed Mary off on the bus.â âHalf eight?â she sat up suddenly, immediately regretting it and winced once more. âFuck, my alarmâ
âYeah I turned it off. Think the last batch of painkillers you took at three am wiped you out.â he sat on the edge of the bed as she shuffled up. She made to reach for her drink and let out a little huff of pain so Frank stopped her and handed it to her.
âThanks.â She smiled. âIâll ease off when I start to move about.â
âWell, donât rush about.â He instructed as she took a drink of her coffee, before he saw her face fall.
âOh, shit. I have a lesson to give at ten in St PeteâsâŚâ she frowned, and Frank could she she was starting to worry so he gently reached out, tucking her wild auburn locks behind her ear.
âJust chill.â He shushed her. âJoanne called before.â He nodded to her phone âI answered and told her I didnât know if you were gonna be in but she said sheâd open up and reschedule your morning appointments. Then you can see how you feel this afternoon.â
For a moment he thought she was going to flip out at him effectively making a decision like that for her but after a second or two pause she gave a grateful smile and sat back against the pillows.
âThank you.â
âTake your time, your mom and dad will be here in a bit. Then weâre gonna get the keys and start on the apartment.â Fliss grinned as she took another drink of coffee.âYou excited?â âYeah, yeah I am.â He said, honestly. âJust wanna get it all started and then we can move in.â She smiled and he stood up. âYour momâs bringing breakfast, said something about her boys not being able to work on an empty stomach.â He arched a brow. âHer boys?â Fliss smirked over her mug. âYou really have got her wrapped around your finger.â He chuckled âWell what can I say, Iâm a likeable guyâŚâ âHmmm youâre something Iâll give you that.â she quipped, and he laughed, placing a kiss on her cheek before heading back out of the room.
It wasnât long before Flissâ parents arrived and they ate breakfast, Verity fussing over Fliss who kept assuring her and her dad that they were fine. Once theyâd eaten, Bill and Frank headed over to meet his new landlord and after he handed over the keys, they got to work. For their first task they shut the utilities off and ripped out the bathroom, which wasnât too big a job seeing as half of the damned suite was smashed up anyway. Once that was done they moved into the living room and tossed out the tatty old furniture that had been left before doing their first run to the local dump. Then they moved onto ripping up the carpet in the living room.
âShit!â Bill spluttered as a cloud of dust rose up from where they had wrenched the offending item free from the tacks. Frank blinked, backing up slightly, before he stood up, arm across his mouth. âDidnât think it would be that bad.â
Bill rose to his feet and they both moved away, Frank picking up a bottle of water that was on the side and rinsing his face with it. He tossed it to Bill who did the same, the pair of them looking at one another before snorting a laugh each, and shaking their heads.
âAnd I thought this would be the easy bit.â Bill wiped his face. âWas less hassle ripping out the bathroom.â
It took them an hour or so to cut the carpet into easily manageable pieces, rip it up, and toss it into the back of their trucks. By now it was scorching outside, and also inside as the air con wasnât on seeing as they had no power. This meant both men were dripping with sweat and Frank couldnât remember ever feeling so damned warm or grubby in his entire life.
By lunch time theyâd pretty much cleared the lot. Carpets, broken light fittings, broken kitchen doors and also the old washing machine. Grabbing another bottle of water, Frank stood outside the apartment, hand on his hips and smiled at Bill who gave him a pat on the shoulder.
âGood job, son.â he nodded. âItâs a blank canvas now. Dave will be here soon with the new bathroom, shouldnât take us too long to plumb it all in, connections are already there. We can start the tiling tomorrow.â
Frank smiled and grabbed his T-shirt at the bottom, lifting it up to wipe at his face and as he did so he heard a sharp wolf whistle. When he emerged from his shirt he grinned and looked at Fliss who was slowly walking towards them with Verity, Thor following behind, both women carried familiar paper bags.
Frank made his way over and she stopped, where as Verity carried on, quite tactfully towards Bill and Fliss grinned.
âHey.â she greeted him as he leaned down to give her a kiss and she wrinkled her face. âGross, youâre all filthy and sweaty andâŚâ She trailed off, her eyes glinting as her voice dropped slightly and she ran a hand up his arm to his shoulder âActuallyâŚâ âBehave.â he raised his eyebrow at her.
âDonât wanna.â she pouted.
He shook his head and nodded to the bag. âYou bring me lunch, Honey?â
âYou need to keep your strength up.â She winked. âMom drove us to Subway.â âI love you Verity!â Frank called as he fished out his Turkey sub and she grinned at him.
The four of them settled down where they could, Fliss sitting on the steps, Frank by her feet on the lawn and Bill and Verity perched on the tail of Billâs truck. They ate together, Fliss telling Frank sheâd postponed her teaching now until Monday to allow herself time to heal a little, which he was secretly pleased about. It wasnât long after they had finished lunch that the new bathroom turned up the women left them to it.
Frank and Bill worked well together and between the two of them they had it fit in little under two hours and Bill connected the water back up to test it. When it worked properly Frank gave a nod of satisfaction and smiled. The suite was an off white colour, nice and with a modern large bath. It might have been second hand but you couldnât tell, and Frank liked it.
âNot bad for a dayâs work.â Bill smiled. âThe tiling shouldnât take too long tomorrow and then, well, itâs just a case of decorating and a new carpet.â At that point the two men heard footsteps and looked up to see Mary bounding in, followed by Fliss and Verity.
âHey Stack.â Frank greeted her as she looked around. âWhaddya think so far?â Mary nodded appreciatively. âLeast it has a toilet.â The adults laughed and Frank nodded âYeah, I mean we can move in now.â âWhat?â she frowned âThereâs no carpet in the living room!â
âI was being sarcastic.â Frank replied and she narrowed her eyes at him.
âRoberta says sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.â
âWell, sheâd know.â he shrugged.
âAm I staying there tonight?â She questioned Frank.
âItâs up to you.â he replied âWeâre not going out are we, Honey?â
Fliss shook her head âNo way, I ache too much, but I was thinking we could BBQ maybe? All of us?â âOoooh, yeah!â Mary nodded, agreeably âThen Roberta can come too.â Frank shrugged âYeah, Iâm ok with that.â âMum, Dad?â Fliss asked.
Verity and Bill exchanged looks and Bill nodded. âI need to nip home and shower first butâŚâ âNo need.â Fliss shook her head. âWe swung by and picked you a spare change up. You can shower at Frankâs.â âOh can I?â Bill looked at her. She grinned back in response as Bill turned to Frank âThat okay? You know, seeing as itâs your place, not hers.â Fliss stuck her tongue out at her father whilst Frank simply shrugged.
âShe acts like she owns the damned place when sheâs there anyway so it might as well be.â he teased and she glared at him, digging him in the ribs.
 âShut upâ
*****
The next ten days consisted much in the same vein. Frank had to work on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday but Bill took over the painting for him, and then on the Friday, a week after they had started, they fit the new carpets. The Saturday they spent fixing on the new kitchen doors and plumbing in the washing machine and on Sunday morning Frank fit the final touches, screwing in the new light fittings and then it was done.
That afternoon, Frank and Fliss stood in the middle of the living room admiring the finished article. It smelt of new carpet and wet paint, a smell Frank had grown immune to having been breathing it in for god knows how long.
âIt looks great.â Fliss smiled, taking the fresh, light grey walls, darker grey carpet which was complemented by the brushed steel modern light fittings.
âYeah, not a bad job.â Frank grinned. âWe can start moving the stuff over tomorrow.â At that point Mary barrelled in from the hallway and beamed âMy room looks awesome, Fliss, come see!â She gushed. Fliss allowed Mary to pull her out of the living room and followed her down the hall to the room on the right. It was a good sized bedroom, and it was freshly painted in light blue, a colour Mary had chosen herself.
âFrank says Iâm getting a new cabin bed soon with a desk underneath and Iâm gonna put it against that wall.â She rambled on. âAnd on that wall Iâm gonna stick my shells and there Iâm gonna have my shelves for my books and a TVâŚâ Frank leaned in the doorway watching as Mary pointed everything out to Fliss, his face curling into a smile. Heâd never thought something so simple as having her own room would make the girl so damned happy.
ââŚand Fred can have his own basket, although he never sleeps in them anywayâŚâ Mary was continuing and Fliss looked up and caught Frankâs eye. He smiled at her gently and she beamed back. ââŚand I can put my photos hereâŚâ Mary finished âWhat do you think?â âI think it sounds amazing, Stack.â Fliss said, smiling at her âI canât wait to see it all finished.â âOkay.â Frank pushed himself up straight from the door frame âLetâs go grab your stuff Stack and head over to find out what Vâs made for dinner.â âI hope itâs beef.â Mary said, skipping out âHer Sunday beef is the best.â âItâs chicken.â Fliss whispered as Frank laughed, dropping an arm round her shoulders as they made their way outside. He locked the door and they headed back to the apartment, Mary collecting her stuff. Once Frank had checked she had everything she needed he tossed it into the truck and turned to Fliss.
âIâve been thinking.â he said, as Mary climbed into the seat.
âSounds dangerous.â Frank rolled his eyes âI know we said we werenât gonna move in together yet, but, well, how about you bring some stuff over once Iâve got all the bedroom furniture and then that way you donât need to pack a bag when you come stay.â Fliss smiled at him. âA sensible suggestion.â she agreed, her arms sliding around his neck.
âIt has been known.â He grinned, his hands dropping to her hips as he leaned down to kiss her. They both jumped as the horn on the truck sounded and Mary leaned across the seats.
âCome on, stop kissing, Iâm hungry.â âHow about we ditch her on the side of the road?â Frank spoke loudly to Fliss and Mary scoffed.
âStop making empty threats, Frank.â she sing songed.
Frank looked at Fliss who burst out laughing âYou have no idea how damned similar the pair of you are.â She smiled with a shake of her head. *******
It was almost a fortnight later when Mary casually told Frank she had reached her decision about Evelyn. It was a Friday and she had been at University for two classes that morning, and was heading to normal school for the rest of the afternoon. Part of the reason that Frank worked late on a Tuesday was so that he could be flexible when it came to things like this and could pop out for an hour or so to go and pick her up when he needed to.
He greeted her in the hallway as always and she slipped her little hand into his as they walked back outside and over to his truck. She glanced in the paper bag which contained her lunch he had bought her from the deli near the boat store, a treat he liked to get her every Friday now he could happily afford it without worrying and she grinned.
âSave it for when you get to School. Otherwise everyone else will be eating and you wonât.â She folded the top of the paper bag over and grinned at him as he eased his way up the freeway.
âYou drive like an old lady.â she grinned and Frank took a deep breath, a smirk on his face. That was a comment Fliss had made to him on numerous occasions, one which he normally retorted back with some reference to her driving like a maniac.
âIt's Florida. I'm blending in.â He said simply to Mary, smile still playing on his lips. She side-eyed him for a moment, in a way that made her look ridiculously like Diane, even though he knew, again, that was a habit sheâd picked up from Fliss. Or Roberta for that matter. Frank had a feeling that as Mary grew up she was going to be a perfect candidate for the whole nature v nurture debateâŚ
âI talked to Fliss last night.â Mary said.
âI know, you stole the phone off me when she called and ran off to your room.â
âYeah, why didnât she stay with us last night?â âItâs Thursday, she never stays on a Thursday. You know this. She had paper work to do.â Mary fell silent.
âWhat were you going to say?â Frank gently pressed her.
âHuh?â âYou said you talked to Fliss. Was that all you wanted to tell me orâŚâ âOh, no.â Mary replied âI asked her about whether I should see Evelyn.â
Frank took a deep breath, his face remaining passive âRight, so what did she say?â âThe same as you. That it was my decision and whatever I wanted everyone would understand and be okay with it and that no one would be madâŚâ
âOf course no one will be mad.â Frank looked at her. âEvelyn is your grandmother, and itâs your decision if you wanna see her. Not mine, not the courts, not anybodyâs but yours. And no one, not even me, is gonna be upset about what you decide, you got that?â âI know. And Iâve made up my mind.â âYeah?â She nodded âI want to see her.â âOkay.â Frank licked his lips. Truth be told he wasnât sure how he felt about this but he meant what he said. It was up to Mary and at least now he would have some control over the access. âIf youâre sure then Iâll call her on Monday and weâll make some arrangements.â âMaybe she can come here, see our new place.â âMaybe.â Frank nodded, although he had a feeling that hell freezing over would be more likely.
There was a momentâs silence as both of them were lost in their own thoughts. Frank stole a glance at his niece as she sat looking out of the window, chewing her lip and he decided to move her away from the subject as he turned off the main road.
âHow was school?â
âFun.â Mary nodded. âNot like regular school fun. But interesting.â
Fun. Regular. Two words Frank had craved for Mary all her damned life, and it made him smile to hear her so full of life, so happy, so settled.
Maryâs attention flickered from him to the seat next to her and she moved her lunch bag to look at it.
âWhat is this book?â she asked, picking it up and flicking it open.
âDiscourse on Method.â Frank said, giving her the title of his latest read âRene Descartes.â
âWhat's it about?â she pressed.
âExistence.â
âExistence?â
âYup. I think, therefore I amâ he said, a small smile on his face.
âWell, of course you are. That's obvious.â Marry rolled her eyes and Frank supressed a snort. Everything was so logical in her little brain, there was an innocence to it all that he loved.
âI think about Fred, therefore, I am Fred.â she continued.
âCogito ergo Fred?â Frank teased looking at her.
âHe's a dude and he's a guy,â Mary grinned, âand he only has one eye.â
Frank let out a chuckle as Mary tipped her head back and continued in a loud, ridiculous voice.
âFred! Fred! Fred! Freeeeddddyyyy, Fred, Fred!â
Frank laughed began to slow down, pulling up by the school.
âAll right, here we are.â He glanced over and saw Mary was fiddling with her belt and opening the door. âHey, wait till I come to a stopâŚâ he started to protest.
âThen come to a stop already!â Without so much as a glance back she grabbed her lunch and shot over to the playground which was brimming with other kids. He watched, a small smile playing on his face as she made her way over, dropping her lunch to the floor and throwing herself into a game. Something that he would never have believed possible back in September when sheâd first started. But here she was, almost seven months later, like sheâd been there all her life. His attention flicked to Bonnie as the woman shot him a friendly wave and a nod, which he returned before he set off back to work before someone called the cops on him for sitting outside a school staring at a yard full of kids.
****
As he was winding up at work for the day, Jake called him, an impromptu guys night out was being organised for that night as Jake had a âpass outâ, his words not Frankâs. Frank hesitated for a moment, he hadnât planned anything with Fliss as such, but it was Friday, their nightâŚ
âOh come on!â Jake snorted as Frank rolled his eyes. âDonât tell me Frank Adler is hesitating over a night out!â
âNo, itâs not thatâŚâ Frank protested âWeâve just had a really busy fortnight andâŚâ âMan youâre whipped. Already. What is this? Like month five and youâre already in the-â
âIâm not whipped, I just like spending time with my girl, whatâs wrong with that?â
âDude come on!â
âOkay, okay.â Frank sighed. âWhat time?â âEight at Fergs, and if you donât show Iâm gonna come round your gaff and drag you out myself.â
Frank shook his head and cut the call before he dialled Fliss.
âHey, Sailor.â She greeted. âI was just thinking about you.â
âAbout me or that thing I did to you on Wednesday night?â he grinned and she snorted.
âNo, about you. Although now Iâm thinking about that thing.â
Frank chuckled. âSo what were you thinking about?â
âOh, erm, tonight. Thought we could grab a pizza and head up to the marina for a walk, maybe grab a beer.â
âErm, yeah.â He sighed. Shit.
âWe donât have to.â She responded, clearly reading his voice tone. âIt was just an idea.â
âNo, I do, I justâŚ.â He took a deep breath. âWell, Jake called, said the guys are going for beers and itâs been a while since we all got together so I wasâŚâ âFrankâŚâ Fliss laughed softly âYou donât need to justify yourself. If you wanna go out, go out.â âYou donât mind?â
âWhy would I mind?â
âWell, Fridays are kinda our night.â
âI know but, well itâs not as much of a big thing now Mary has her own room, we kinda get our own nights a bit more often.â âOk, fair point.â he smiled and she laughed.
âMaybe I can wait for you at yours? I can go to Robertaâs for a little while with Mary.â âYou donât have to ask.â Frank smiled softly âYou can stay whenever you want, you know that.â
âWell, thatâs settled then.â she replied, before someone shouted to her and she retorted before coming back to Frank âSorry baby, I gotta go but Iâll see you later.â âOk, love you.â âYou tooâŚâ
***** After Frank headed out, Fliss wandered down to Robertaâs with a bottle of wine and after more loud hairbrush-karaoke, Roberta had cracked open the Bourbon and the two women had sat on the stoop until just gone eleven when Fliss had headed back. Throwing on one of Frankâs T-shirts she crawled into the king sized bed (an excellent purchase decision that she had talked him into) and snuggled down into the new blankets (another excellent purchase decision), Thor jumping up and taking his position by her feet.
She canât have been asleep long when she woke as Thor gave a low whine and jumped off the bed, nudging the door open and heading out into the hallway.
Then she heard a thud, followed by cursing.
âShit. Who put that there?â She heard Frank groan, then he started laughing âThor! Get down!â
There was more laughing, and protests which Fliss listened to for a moment, before she swung her legs out of bed and headed down the short hallway. She quickly checked the front door as she walked past to make sure heâd locked it behind him, and then headed into the living room to find Frank led on the floor as Thor basically jumped all over him, licking his face and wagging his tail.
âSome guard dog you are.â Frank laughed again as he attempted to push the dog off him.
âGood job youâre not a burglar then.â Fliss spoke, causing Frank to look up, grinning stupidly at her âMind you, the amount of noise youâre making youâd be a pretty shit oneâŚâ
âHeeeyâŚâ he grinned, as Thor finally moved off him and he pushed himself to his feet. âThere you are!â
âHere I am.â Fliss nodded, and she couldnât help but smile at the look on his face. He was beaming at her, a stark contrast to how John was when he used to come home drunk, but then that was Frank all over, a completely different person, and she knew that.
âThere you are, my girl.â He stopped in front of her, his hands falling to her hips. âCâmereâŚâ
âOk, someone had a good night.â She grinned as he placed a sloppy kiss on her lips.
âYeah, it was.â He nodded and then he suddenly looked around âSo the bedroom moved.â he turned back to her and whispered conspiratorially. âItâs not where it usually is...â
âNo, you moved.â She laughed. âYou moved apartments, remember?â
âOh yeah.â He nodded, before he looked down at her, taking in her bare legs âIs that my T-shirt?â
âYes.â âTake it off, thief.â âOkay, letâs get you to bed.â Fliss patted his chest.
âYeah?â He arched his eyebrow grinning.
âTo sleep.â
âNo sleep.â He pouted, dropping his head to gently nuzzle at her neck. âWanna give you some lovinâ...â
âYeah and how are you gonna do that when youâre too drunk to take your pants off?â Fliss laughed as she led him down the hallway.
âYou can take em offâŚâ He said as he stopped in the bedroom, looking round.
âOh I can, can I?â She asked as he kicked off his sneakers.
âYesâŚâ he nodded as he sat on the bed. âIâll allow it.â
âYou'll allow it?â Fliss deadpanned as he started to undo the buttons on his shirt. Eventually he gave up and reached back, grabbing it behind his neck and with a tug pulled it over his head, tossing it to the side. He reached out to Fliss, pulling her close to him, his arms wrapping around her back as he looked up at her.
âI will allow it, but only because I love you.â
âOk so let me get this straight.â Fliss chuckled as she ran her hand through his hair. âYou're gonna let me take your pants off because you love me?â
 âYeah.â He nodded.
 âI'm so luckyâŚâ She snorted
âHey, Iâm a catchâŚâ Frank let go of her and flopped back on the bed.
âI never said otherwise.â she grinned, moving to take his belt off.
âAh ha ha see, you do wanna get in my pants.â âI want to get you in bed, so help me out here hot-shot.â With a grin Frank raised his hips and she tugged down his jeans, dropping them by the side of the bed.
âCome onâŚâ she patted the pillows and Frank shifted, moving the right way onto the bed and after a bit of a battle with the covers heâd settled himself down, one arm thrown over his head as he watched Fliss who gently turned off the lamp and settled down next to him. Shifting onto his side, his hand gently ran up her thigh, resting on her hip underneath his T-shirt.
âI love you.â He said softly, and she smiled and kissed the tip of his nose.
âI love you too.â she smiled âEven when youâre being a drunken idiot.â âIâm not drunk.â âCourse not.â âOkay, maybe just a little bit.â he conceded after a moment. âBut I do love you.â âI believe you.â
âSo much, you know what? One day, Iâm gonna marry you.â
âOh, are you?â Fliss asked, running her hand through his hair.
âYup, and then weâre gonna make little Franks and Flisses andâŚâ he stopped as Flissâ laughter filled the room. âWhy are you laughing?â he asked her, his tone indignant âYou donât wanna marry me and make babies?â
âNot after us being together for like less than 6 months.â she laughed.
âWell thatâs just rudeâŚâ he mumbled, dropping his head forward so it fell to her chest.
He stayed still for a moment, mumbling something else as Fliss continued to run her hands through her hair, and it wasnât long before his soft snores told her he was asleep. With a fond smile she dropped a kiss to his head and closed her eyes.
*****
Fliss took great delight the next morning in telling Frank exactly how much shit heâd been talking when he came home, including telling her that he wanted to marry her and make babies. Heâd groaned and banged his head on the table as he sat nursing a coffee, instantly regretting that as his head was pounding as it was. Thankfully, Mary had gone with Fliss to the yard and spent most of the day there leaving him to suffer in peace, firing abuse to the Circle Of Trust Whatâs-app group, his only slight consolation being they all seemed to be suffering just as much as he was.
He collapsed into bed on the Saturday at just gone ten pm and slept straight through to eight the next morning when he was woken by Fliss softly kissing him awake. He knew what she wanted, and happily obliged and once they were both spent and slightly sweaty from a particularly energetic sex session, they both showered and after a breakfast of Waffles and fruit, spent the rest of the morning browsing the IKEA website for a bed for Mary. They then headed over to Bill and Verityâs for the usual dinner before theyâd all collapsed in bed at Flissâ after watching a film together.
Monday morning brought the usual routine, shower, breakfast, kiss Fliss goodbye, drop Mary at school, head to work, check the list of active jobs for the week, start one of said active jobs, pause for a mid-morning snack from the coffee shop, resume work. All standard stuff, so it was a little surprising when the routine of the day was broken.
âFrank?â
Frank popped his head up from the deck of the boat where heâd been working on the steering column and looked at Fliss who was stood in the open entrance to the workshop.
âHeyâŚâ he smiled, âWhat are you doing here? Not that Iâm not happy to see you butâŚâ
Because he was, he was always happy to see her, he was simply surprised as they hadnât arranged to meet for lunch like they sometimes did if she was teaching over this way. He stood up and reached for a cloth to wipe his hands on before he climbed down from the boat and as he noticed the look on her face he frowned.
âBaby, whatâs the matter?â
âI errâŚI got a call and Iâm sorry, I didnât know what to do and I just needed to see you andâŚâ
âHey, hey.â he soothed, his hands on her arms âCalm down.â
She took a deep breath as Frank glanced over to Paul, his co-worker and nodded his head to signal he was heading outside. Paul waved him away and Frank dropped an arm round Flissâ shoulder and steered her outside into the sun and out of the view of everyone.
âWhatâs wrong?â he asked her and she nodded, taking a deep breath. He could see sheâd been crying and he searched her eyes with his own as she looked at him.
âI got a phone callâŚfrom the Victim Assistance Services.â Her eyes were wide âJohnâs been granted the right to a Parole hearing. Theyâve set the date for 23rd May, six weeks.â Frank took a deep breath, concentrating on keeping calm despite the fact he could quite happily have kicked something there and then.
âI donât know why Iâm so shocked.â Fliss continued âI mean I always knew this would happen, but hearing that heâs finally got a date...â she looked at Frank âIf heâs successful, then he could be out by the end of June andâŚâ
âHoney, just because heâs been given the right to a hearing, doesnât necessarily mean heâs going to get out.â âThe woman on the phone said that thereâs a better chance that it will be refused if I appeal. But if I want to do that then Iâll have to either go in person or do a written or recorded statement and I donât know if I canâŚâ A tear fell from her eye and Frank gently wrapped her arms around her, pulling her to him. âI stood in a courtroom last time, telling them exactly what he did to me, about how he beat me and degraded me, only to be told I that I was a liar, and that I liked it rough, that I egged him on and⌠I canâtâŚ.I canât do that again FrankâŚâ
She was rambling into his chest and he could do nothing but pull her close and drop a kiss to her head.
âNo oneâs gonna make you do anything you donât wanna.â he pulled away slightly, cupping her face in her hands.
âTheyâre sending me a letter.â she said âExplaining my rights and stuff in more detail.â âWant me to call Greg?â He asked, a sudden inspiration coming to him. âI know heâs a Family lawyer now but he did do some time with this type of thing a while back, if youâre happy to speak to him Iâm sure heâll be more than willing to helpâŚâ
âI donât know if I can.â she sniffed. âI donât know if want him knowing every detail, I mean even you donât know it allâŚâ âI know.â he agreed. âAnd you donât have to tell him anything to start off with, just ask his advice.âÂ
She sniffed gently, and looked at him. âI have to tell you donât I?â She said softly, âAll of it?â
Frank hesitated. He wasnât sure he wanted to know, but if this was going the way it looked like it was going to go, he would find out sooner or later, and, as he looked at Fliss, he knew that no matter how hard it was, how shitty it was going to be to open up fully, she would need to do that herself to keep some control over the situation.
âYou donât have to do anything. But if you decide you want to, then Iâll listen.âÂ
He dropped a kiss to her head and pulled her back to him, gently rocking her to-and-fro as he squinted out over the harbour.Â

My 5 Favorite Characters in âFallout 76â˛
1. Beckett
Beckett is one of the potential allies that the Vault Dweller can befriend. Beckett is a former member of the Blood Eagles, a Raider Gang that who brainwashed new members by getting them hooked on chems and destroying their sanity. But after hurting many people while in the Blood Eagles, and overcoming his chem addiction, Beckett left the Blood Eagles so he could make amends with the people he wronged and have a fresh start.Â
However, the Blood Eagles managed to kidnap Beckett and were about to torture him to death in oder to make an example of him. But thankfully, the Vault Dweller is able to rescue Beckett and helps him right the wrongs of his past. With Beckettâs help, we can eliminate the gangâs stash of chems and kill the three leaders of the Blood Eagles: The Blood, The Eye, and The Claw.Â
Despite his dark past, Beckett is a good man who just wants to become a better person and protect those he cares about. He is afraid of repeating his past mistakes and hurting anyone who gets close to him...but that wonât stop us from loving him.Â
If we make him our ally, Beckett will run a small bar at our C.A.M.P and will often mention how we saved him. We can even romance him and enter into a romantic relationship with Beckett, which something that I know a lot of us enjoy.Â
2. Rose
Rose is a Miss Nanny robot that was reprogrammed and is now the leader of a Raider gang: The Cutthroats. Rose is rude, loud, has a dark sense of humor, and loves seeing people get into brawls. But she is also very loyal to the late leader of the Cutthroats, David Thorpe, who reprogrammed Rose to sound and act like his late girlfriend: Rosalynn Jeffries.
Rosalynn Jeffries was David Thorpeâs mistress before the war and was even planning to leave his wife for her. But after his family was killed by the bombs, Thorpe regretted neglecting them and only had Rosalynn left to keep him from going insane. Together, Thorpe and Rosalynn became the leaders of the Cutthroats and caused all sorts of mayhem together. But one day, Rosalynn was captured by The Responders, a group of former police officers and firefighters who dedicated the rest of their lives to helping people and teaching them survival skills. They managed to capture Rosalynn after she attempted to raid the settlement in Charleston, and were going to negotiate her release with Thorpe the next day. But Thorpe immediately believed that The Responders had killed Rosalynn and destroyed the dam that was outside of Charleston...which flooded the entire town and killed thousands of people, including Rosalynn. Afterwards, Thorpe found a Miss Nanny robot and reprogrammed the robot to sound and act exactly like Rosalynn. He even modified Rose to have some of Rosalynnâs features.Â
Rose knows that she is a robot and a replacement for Rosalynn, but she still remains loyal to Thorpe even long after his demise. While she is not the friendliest person to deal with, and she often threatens to kill us if we even think about betraying her, we do need her to make contact with the Crater Raiders and she does have a device that can detect the Scorched. So whether we like it or not, we have to do what she says in order to complete certain quests.Â
But on the plus side, we do obtain some useful weapons while learning the techniques of the previous Raider Gangs and she does reward us in the end. We also learn about Thorpe and Rosalynn, as well as the histories of the fallen Raider Gangs. Plus, she does have a lot of personality for a robot.Â
3. Paige
Paige is the founder and leader of a settlement known as, Foundation. While originally from Washington DC, Paige and many other survivors from different states came together and traveled to Appalachia to build a safe place for them to live in.Â
Paige is a kind and caring man who loves the people of Foundation like they were his family. He wants nothing more than to protect them from the Raiders and ensure them that it is safe for them to have children. While he doesnât trust the Vault Dwellers at first, itâs understandable since he puts the safety of the Settlers first and wants to make sure that no one will try to hurt them.Â
But after we complete the vaccine for the Scorched Plague, Paige will be very grateful for giving them a chance to fight against the Scorched Plague. Heâll even be more grateful if we help Foundation obtain the countryâs entire supply of gold from Vault 79.Â
Paige is a good leader...which is something that Appalachia desperately needs since most of the good people have either died or given up on trying to live decently.Â
4. Duchess
Duchess is the owner of one of the few bars in Appalachia, The Wayward, where she sells drinks and even a place to rest. When she encounters the Vault Dweller, we can: Help Duchess keep a bunch of Raiders from threatening her livelihood, help her find her two guards who went missing, and find a new body for her Assaultron, âPollyâ.Â
After we help Duchess, sheâll tell us about a hidden treasure thatâs the reason why Raiders keep coming to her bar. In the end, Duchess will be very grateful for our help and give us a huge discount on all of her products. Even her employees will be eternally grateful for everything that we did to help the people of The Wayward.Â
There are some clues that Duchess was a drug lord before the bombs fell and had made a name for herself in the criminal world...but she has now cleaned up her act and has stopped selling chems to people. She regrets her past decisions but now strives to be a better person, which we can see since she clearly cares about the safety and well-being of those she cares about.Â
5. Mordecai âMortâ McCoy
When you enter The Wayward, the very first non-feral ghoul that you see is Mordecai âMortâ McCoy. Mort is an explorer and âindependent contractorâ who is usually seen in The Wayward. Before the war, he was a normal guy until the radiation from the bombs turned him into a Ghoul...but he has tried to make the best of it and uses his immunity to radiation to go to places that normal people canât go into, without suffering from radiation poisoning.Â
Mort is a nice guy who often jokes about being a Ghoul and is also loyal to Duchess, whom he is willing to protect. Compared to some Ghouls, he is surprisingly good-looking and has a nice voice that we can listen to with his C.A.M.P instruction holotapes.Â
While he does like to make some quick caps, he also wonât let anyone hurt Duchess and will give the Vault Dwellers some useful information.Â

Hair Raising Situations
Hello everyone!
So this one is gonna be a bit different.Â
1) Iâm featuring my best friend in this one, because the whole âJudith Harrisâ development started between us two (She has her own MC of course and a Bill fan, Billiam being on her ship names).
2) Itâs not connected to anything Iâve previously written, just a funny little story.
3) Itâs not just TalbottxJudith. Shocker I know. Judith isnât dating anyone but it would go in the order of who she interested in (from most to least). So it could be looked at as multiple ships and youâll see her attitude to each person she interacts with.Â
4) Judithâs hair is straightened here, but when... what happened happens, it would be the same hair cut as Orionâs.
5) We did give Skye a twin brother, his name is Hermes. Get it lol?
Anyways, I hope you like this silly little story. Enjoy!
-------------------------
(Brooke Brown) (Age: 16)
I was currently hiding out in the Courtyard in my Animagus form. Why, you may ask?
Because my best friend/sister is out to kill me.
Let's rewind, shall we?
-A little while earlier-
"I can't wait to prank someone with this Fanged Frisbee. Thanks for buying it for me, Brooke," Tonks cheered gleefully as we walked on the Training Grounds. I smiled at the pink haired Hufflepuff.
"Of course. You plan on scaring Filch and Miss Norris with it like last time," I asked. Tonks frowned.
"As much as I love to prank those two, I think I need a change of victims..." The girl trailed off as someone caught her eye. I looked up to find Judith practicing her broom surfing. I glanced back at Tonks and saw the impish smile spread on her face.Â
Oh no...
"Tonks, I know that look. Don't even think about," I quickly reprimanded the infamous prankster.
"Oh don't be such a spoil sport, Brooke. Her reaction is going to absolutely priceless," Tonks waved off, preparing to throw the Fanged Frisbee.
"Tonks, no-" I watched in horror as the prank item whirled at my best friend.
"JUDITH, LOOK OUT!" Luckily that caught her attention as she was able to evade the frisbee. But she didn't get a chance to rest as the Fanged Frisbee came whistling back round, giving chase.Â
Judith looked semi-scared as she did her best to shake off the frisbee as she flew around on her broom.Â
Tonks and I readied our wands to put a stop to the fanged prank item before our friend could get seriously hurt, expect we were have a hard time actually hitting the frisbee.
Tonks and I could only watch as the Fanged Frisbee closed in on her from behind.
"Judith, dive," I shouted. Judith didn't waste a second as she dove down. Judith was able to evade the fanged terror... somewhat.
The sound of fanged teeth cutting through hair felt impossibly loud. I couldn't help but to gape in horror as my best friend's hip-length hair was cut semi-choppily and fell to the ground. Tonks managed to cast Immobulous on the Fanged Frisbee but Judith didn't seem to notice. She stared at the ground where her hair fell while raising a shaking hand to her head.
Uh oh.Â
I immediately transformed into my red-tailed hawk and flew off. Not before hearing the scream that damn near shook the entire castle.
"BROOKE, TONKS! YOU'RE SO DEAD!"
---
So now I've resorted to hiding until, hopefully, Judith cooled off.Â
I've been watching the doors that lead to the Courtyard just in case she comes here looking to rip my tail feathers off...
I was so caught up in my inner turmoil, I nearly fell out of the tree I was in when a giant Golden Eagle landed right next to me. Talbott and I transformed back into our human forms for a moment.
"What did you do this time," Talbott asked bluntly. I gave my fellow Ravenclaw an innocent look.
"What are you talking about? I didn't do anything," I said, doing my best to hide my nervous laughter. Talbott raised a sharp brow at me.
"And I'm sure Judith was yelling that she was gonna kill you and Tonks for kicks," he said. I shuddered in fear. Talbott sighed.
"Brooke-" I clapped my hand over his mouth, looking around in fear.
"SHHH! She'll be listening for my name for all I know," I hissed at the eagle Animagus. He stared at me, completely unamused.
"Whatever you did can't be-"
"BROOKE KELLY BROWN! YOU BETTER BE READY FOR AN ASS WHOOPING YOUâLL NEVER FORGET!" I let out a shriek, transforming back in my bird form and hiding behind a startled Talbott.Â
Judith stormed out in the Courtyard, a fire dancing in her pale gold eyes.
Oh Talbott if you love me as a friend, please for all that good and holy, do not tell her where I am...
-----
(Talbott Winger)
After meeting the "Cursed Children of Hogwarts", I knew my life will never be normal.
I was just thankful for meeting Judith first. Even though she and Brooke were just as persistent on being my friend, she was the much calmer one. Brooke tended to be more mischievous and can easily talk my ear off if I let her.
When I heard Judith's cry of pure fury earlier, all the way from the Library mind you, I knew Brooke and Tonks must've been up to no good. Judith isn't the type to explode or get mad easily, so whatever they did must've been a prank.
When the normally calm Hufflepuff stormed into the Courtyard with a glare sharp enough to kill a man, I instantly had an idea what they did. And couldn't help but blush at the difference.
Judith has been growing her hair out over the years. Her thick long curly mane would reach her mid-back in its natural state. But when it was straighten, it would reach her shapely hips.Â
I secretly thought she looked beautiful with long hair, silently wishing to play with her long locks. But now, said mane was now cut short. It was a bit choppy, but not in a bad way. She looked cute with short hair...
Her gold eyes scanned the Courtyard for her fearful best friend who was now taking refuge in my hood. Her eyes landed on me and her angry expression melted into something akin to shy embarrassment. She walked up to me slowly.
"H-hey Tal-Talbott," she quietly greeted me. I rose a brow.Â
The fact that she can switch from rage to shyness nearly gave me whiplash.
"Hello Judith," I replied. The girl crossed her arms staring at her feet. I couldn't help but find her adorable right now.Â
She was wearing her semi-casual class outfit. A black sweater over her white button-down collar and yellow and black tie, a black skirt that reached her knees, dark gray long socks, and her shiny ballet flats. With her short hair, it made seem so much sweeter...

I jumped down, feeling Brooke squirm before quickly settling in my hood. I took a few steps forward until I was standing in front of the cute Hufflepuff.
"Have you seen Brooke around," she quietly asked.Â
I felt a nervous twitch on my back.Â
Deciding to cover for my fellow Ravenclaw, I shook my head. Silence ensued between the two of us, as Judith still has yet to meet my gaze.
"New haircut," I inquired in an attempt to break the silence. The girl flinched.
"Not by choice. It looks bad, I know," she grumbled. As much as I love her with long hair, I love seeing her like this as well. It brought out her face more, and she looks cuter with the fact it wasn't completely even.
"Who said anything about it looking bad. I think you look rather cute with it," I whispered, twirling a strand between my fingers. Judith looked at me surprised, a hint of color appearing on her face.
"I- um... uh..." I felt a small smile grow on my face.
"Thank you," she squeaked, coming out more like a question rather than a statement.Â
Too cute.Â
I dropped my hand, silently chuckling.
"D-do me a favor and tell Brooke that we have Quidditch practice l-later, please," she stumbled over her words. I gave her a small smile.
"Sure, anything for you, little bird," I said softly. The girl's blush grew worse as she tucked a couple of loose strands behind her ear.
"Th-Thanks, Talbott. I'll see you later," she mumbled before quickly leaving the Courtyard. A few moments later, Brooke came out of hiding and transformed back into her human form. She pulled me into a tight hug.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!" I felt her squeeze me tighter with each thank you and quickly patted her back, wheezing that she'll break me in half if she hugged me any tighter.Â
The Ravenclaw girl released me, giving me a sheepish smile.
"Oh, how I wish I could have you around all the time, Talbott. You managed to disarm her without even trying," she sighed in relief. I rolled my eyes at that. Not that I was looking to in the first place, but I did manage to calm the angry Hufflepuff down quite a bit.
"I don't feel like being your human shield every time you get her mad, Brooke. Remember, you have Quidditch practice with her soon so eventually, you'll be on your own," I pointed out. Brooke paled at that and whimpered. I would love to see how she wriggles her way out of that one...
âââ
(Orion Amari)
McNully, the Parkin twins, and I awaited our two teammates so we can start practice. Though I sense there might be some minor conflict that could cause a shift of imbalance during today's practice.
If Judith's yell from earlier was an indication...
Judith and I connect very well.Â
She may have the strength that Skype prefers and the tactic that appeals to McNully but I noticed she gravitated more on my lessons on balance above everything else. She didn't bat an eye at my methods, whether it be for us to talk as equals by balancing on our broomsticks or even when I taught her how to Inspired Broom Surfing.Â
She seems to enjoy not only the challenge but the peace it seems to bring her.
I don't know much about the Curse Vaults but I know it brings her much stress. Helping her clear her mind is definitely something I would gladly do for her whenever she wants.
"OY! Where the hell is Harris and Brown?! They should've been here by now," Skye grumbled, tapping her foot impatiently. Her twin, Hermes, smirked.
"What's the matter, Sky? Eager to get your pasty ass handed to you so soon? Especially after being the Hospital Wing for so long?" The Hufflepuff snarled at her Ravenclaw brother.
"Put a sock in it, will ya?! Now that I'm recovered, I'm gonna mop the floor with you," Skye hissed. McNully simply shook his head at the Parkin Chasers.
"I give it a 98.9% chance this has to do with Judith's death threat earlier," he told me.
"And what could you think to be the reason," I asked the Quidditch commentator. He shrugged his broad shoulders.
"Beats me."
"S-sorry we-we're late, everyone..." came a slightly timid apology. We all turned to find the Ravenclaw Chaser and Hufflepuff Beater in their respected practice uniforms. Brooke, who voiced this apology, was looking away and Judith silently glared daggers at her best friend.Â
I blinked in surprise as I took in my Beater.
Judith's hair has been cut drastically short, very similar to my own in fact. I'd always found the Hufflepuff to be alluring with her long, thick mane. Especially when the wind would blow, toying with her locks as she meditated with me or when we simply practicing flying on our brooms together.
Her short hair didn't dampen her beauty but simply changed it in a different light. Her facial features were brought out more due to the cut. Her big gold eyes, her soft cheeks, her slightly sharp jawline...
"Tch, nice haircut Harris," Hermes snorted. The girl shifted her glare over to him, making him slightly flinched.
"We don't have time for a bloody makeover, Judith, we had a Quidditch title to defend," Skye chided.
"Oh, can it both of you! It's not like I asked for a bad hair day," Judith snapped, sending a side-eye to a timid Brooke.
"May I asked what happened exactly," McNully asked politely. Judith sighed, refusing to say anything. Brooke tried not to twitch under her hard stare.
"Let's just say a Fanged Frisbee gone wrong," Brooke vaguely summarized. I let out a hum of understanding as I studied the Hufflepuff Beater. A few strands landed in front of her face. Before Judith could do anything, I carefully brushed her hair behind her ear, allowing my fingertips to lightly caress her cheek.Â
The girl blinked at me in surprise, a blush coloring her face.
"I see nothing wrong with it. I think short hair suits you," I said with a smile. The girl couldn't find any words to say after I complimented her.
"S-so, le-let's get to practicing, ye-yeah," the Hufflepuff Beater offered. I silently chuckled at her attempt to change the subject but appeased her nonetheless.
It didn't escape my attention however when Brooke shot me a grateful look.
âââ
"Oh boy, definitely need a Wiggenweld Potion," Brooke winced as practice concluded.Â
Judith showed no mercy, hitting Bludgers with deadly accuracy. She managed to nail Hermes and Brooke quite a number of times, much to Skye's delight, but I can still sense some level of unbalance coming from her.
"Judith, may I speak with you. Alone," I called out to her. Murphy and Skye shrugged, Brooke looked relieved (more or less running out of the stadium, despite her injuries) and Hermes smirked making kissing noises in our direction. Judith looked very peeved, as well as a bit flustered, at that and looked ready to jump the male but I held her back with a steady hand on her shoulder.
"Come now, it wouldn't be long. I promise," I whispered gently to her. Her face did a funny little spasm as her blush grew worse, but she relented. When the others cleared out, I turned Judith so she could face me. The girl stubbornly looked at my chest. I let out a sigh and tilted her chin up so she could look at me.
"Something troubles you. What's wrong," I softly asked.
"It's stupid. One of the few days I actually could relax, I get chased by a rogue Fanged Frisbee thanks to Tonks and Brooke and now I have a haircut that makes me look more like a boy. I'm already insecure about myself as is, this just put me in a foul mood," the girl admitted.Â
My gaze softened at the Hufflepuff witch.Â
Tentatively, I cupped her cheek, brushing my thumb under her eye.
"Long or short, your hair doesn't define your beauty, Judith. I'm not speaking to you out of concern a captain has for his teammate, but simply as a wizard expressing himself to a witch. I truly mean when I say you're an alluring girl," I whispered to her. I leaned in pressed a small kiss on her hairline. I heard her let out a shaky breath. Pulling away, her eyes were closed and the blush darkened.
Her gold eyes fluttered open to meet my dark brown ones. She gave me a shy smile.
"Th-Thank you, Orion," she said quietly. I hummed softly and stepped back to give her some space. She asked if she could leave now and I gave her a smile and nodded, saying I'll see her around. She gifted me with one last small smile before walking out of the stadium. I heard the grass being crunched under a set of wheels.
"You seriously could've made the poor girl faint you know," I heard McNully say. I turned to him with a guileless smile.
"You know that I have no shame expressing how I feel. I feel a connection towards the girl, simple as that," I said. The commentator rolled his eyes and chuckled.
-----------------
(Andre Egwu)
I was in the Ravenclaw Common Room studying one of Murphy's playbooks. I really want to be a better Seeker so I can actually play on the Ravenclaw Quidditch team. I want to make my grandmother proud... and Judith as well.
The witch never had to reach out to help me, especially since she's on the Hufflepuff team. But she helped introduced me to Murphy so I can learn and strategy wizard himself. I was actually surprised how friendly those two were with each other, which means they've been working closely for quite a while. I remember the kind smile she sent my way when she promised that this is will help me become a better Seeker.
She had such a beautiful smile. Among a lot of features.
Her smooth chocolate skin.
Her delicately sculpted face.
Her athletically fit (and slightly curvy) body.
Her bright gold eyes.
Her long dark hair.
I sighed dreamily.
"Whatcha sighing about, Andre?" A very familiar voice spoke. I jumped to find Judith standing close to the couch I resided on. I blinked in surprise.
Judith blew a strand of her now short hair from her face as she looked at me curiously. Suddenly her battle cry from earlier today makes so much more sense...
Along with Brooke's frantic running in and out (with a bunch of snacks and candy in hand) of the Common Room, yelling if anyone needed her she'll be in the Gryffindor Common Room...
I can understand Judith's anger, but...
It's not as bad as she thinks it is...
"Andre?" I snapped back to reality as the Hufflepuff rose a brow at me. I blushed.
"Sorry, sorry... I was caught up in studying these playbooks," I partially lied through the skin of my teeth. I felt my entire face grow hot. She let out a soft hum.
"Alright," she finally said. I let out a soft sigh of relief. I stood to take a closer look at the girl.
"Cute haircut, whose your stylist," I commented, ruffling her hair playfully. The girl stared at me, surprise overtaking her features.
"I was half expecting you to find this bad," she said, running through her fingers through the choppy cut to fix it. I shook my head.
"You looked good with how your hair was before, but you look very cute with this cut," I said honestly. The Hufflepuff Prefect chuckled and hugged me around the waist. I blushed and wrapped my arms around her. The sweet smell of her shampoo wafted up my nose. Mmm... cocoa butter and coconuts...
I felt a dopey grin spread on my face.
Dear Gods if this is a dream, don't wake me up...
Unfortunately, the girl pulled away.
"I wanted to ask you something," she said. The warmth of her hug and the sweet smell still left me in a slight delirious euphoria. So I didn't hesitate to answer.
"Sure, anything..."
"Do you by any chance know where Brooke is?"
"She went to the Gryffindor Common Room," I said, unknowingly ratting Brooke out to her possibly vengeful best friend. Said best friend gave me a giant smile and another hug.
"Thank you, Andre," she said, and was there a slight purr in her voice? She turned on her heel and walked out of the room, leaving me alone once again.
Sighs... so worth it...
----------------
(Brooke Brown)
Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit!
Once I get my hands on Egwu, I'm gonna clobber him!
...Assuming I survive my best friend's wrath...
I glanced at Bill, who was basically yeeted across the room to keep Judith from entering the room. He ended up hitting an armchair, which toppled backward. I forgot how strong my best friend was...
I silently whimpered at the sight of Judith smirking down at me.
"L-l-let's not do-do anything drastic n-now...! I-I'm sure we can t-talk about this, haha haha haha pleasedon'thurtme," I said as I shrunk into the couch. Judith remained quiet for a moment before chuckling. I shut my eyes.
Oh no...
Goodbye world, it was nice knowing you...
"Relax, will ya? I'm not gonna hurt you..." I cracked open one eye.
"Really," I asked quietly.
"Well not really..." Not helping!
"You can say that the short hair kinda grew on me, so I'm gonna spare you from anything drastic," she said.
"Wha-But-How-" The short Hufflepuff gave me a small smile with a slight blush on her face.
"You can say I received some votes of confidence today," she said softly, brushing a few strands behind her ear. I thought back. Talbott. Orion. Andre.
I smirked and snickered.
Apparently, that was the wrong move as Judith's eyes sharpened into a glare. I 'eeped' as she leaned in close to my face.
"Even so, I'm not spending x amount of years just to regrow my hair. You gonna find a way to help me grow it back or else. Got it," she whispered. I nodded frantically. She gave me a lazy smirk.
"Good. See ya at dinner, bestie," she said, pulling away and walking out of the room. Once she was gone, I went over to check to make sure that Bill was okay while mentally wondering how can I convince Penny to brew me some kind of hair potion...

Until the End [BNHA (Platonic) x Reader]
Pairings: BNHA (platonic) x reader
Warnings: a lot of death, swearing
Genre: Small Fluffy moments, and soft angst
Word Count: 3685
A/N: this idea was born from the chat between me and @jayjee.art (Instagram). She was going to draw cheerleader Bakugo and not show me, so I used my power and decided to do this. I really like writing flashbacks, so this is similar to the first fic I posted on this blog (a Todoroki fic). Iâm so sorry for not posting a lot. Iâve been working on three things at once, so itâs a lot, but I hope you guys like this one! This is also a call to make platonic love a normal thing.Â
note: this one is a little confusing to read, so I recommend reading it a little slower than you would read other things on my blog.Â
âââââââââââââââ
âRUN!â Todoroki yelled urgently.
âWe canât get out,â you yelled in a hoarse voice. The smoke was getting to your lungs, and everything was on fire. You could barely see Jiro and Kaminari, and Todoroki was completely obscured.
âKeep trying!â He yelled back.Â
You had been trying, and it was no use.Â
âIâm sorry guys,â Kaminari shook his head. âThey blocked the radio signals, I canât call for help.â
Jiro let out a sob, but kept mining at the walls with her ear jack.Â
âCan you defuse the bomb Todoroki?â You asked.Â
He shook his head.Â
âAt least try!â Denki yells back.
âIf I cut the wrong wire it will kill us,â Todoroki explains worriedly.Â
âIF YOU DONâT DO ANYTHING WEâRE GOING TO DIE ANYWAYS!â You scream while hitting the wall uselessly.Â
âI donât know which one to cut,â Todoroki sweats, either from the heat or because he was nervous.Â
âCut the red one! Thatâs what they do in the movies!â Denki cries out.
Todoroki cuts the red wire and the ticking stops.Â
Everyone let out a sigh of relief, glad to not die a horrible death to a bomb, and now trying to find a way out of the hot, stuffy, vault.
But then, it happened so fast. Todoroki had cut the wrong wire.Â
Since Todoroki was the closest, he was first.Â
~
âYou do it like this (Y/N),â Todoroki said.
âThis is so dumb Todoroki,â you whined. âHow about we kick back and head over to hang out with Midoriya and Iida instead of doing this!âÂ
Todoroki thought about it for a moment, wondering if it was a good idea to let you off.Â
âFine, we can go watch a movie or something with Iida and Midoriya.â Todoroki sighed.Â
âPerfect!â You fist pumped . âYouâre the greatest best friend Todoroki.âÂ
~
You and Todoroki enjoyed small moments like that. They were the best examples of your friendship.
~
You fell to the floor laughing.
âSo youâre telling me you donât know how to ride a bike?â You asked Todoroki.
âNo, I never learned,â He replied back stoically.
âWe can teach you!â Midoriya offered with a smile. â(Y/n), can you get my bike?â
âYes! Oh my gosh this is going to be so fun!â You jogged to the bike rack and took Midoriyaâs bike, bringing it back to where he and Todoroki were standing.Â
âLets get started,â you clapped your hands together enthusiastically.
~
The last thing you heard from Todoroki was âIâm sorry I let you down again.â
~
Jiro was next. You and she were inseparable.
~
â(Y/n), do you want to join me tonight for open mic?â Jiro asked you.Â
âOf course,â you agreed. âIt was super fun last week.â
âThatâs great, I get a little nervous singing in front of the class,â she admitted.
âItâs okay Jiro, you have nothing to worry about!â You reassured. âYouâre a great singer.â
~Â
Music built your friendship, but it stayed up because your personalities matched so well.Â
~
âJiro!â You screamed. âThereâs a Hot Topic that opened in the mall!âÂ
Jiro put the book down, and shot up from her seat.Â
âNo way!â She said. âLets go!âÂ
âI know!â You excitedly did a victory cartwheel in the common room, then ran with Jiro out the doors.
âOh my God is this Heaven?â Jiro asked.
âMaybe not, but itâs close,â you responded, looking up at the mass of band shirts and merchandise from your favorite shows.Â
âHow does this look, (y/n)?â Jiro asked, holding out a My Chemical Romance shirt.
âIt suits you Jiro. You should get it,â you gave her a thumbs up.
She smiled back at you, digging a Fall Out Boy shirt out from under the stack and tossing it towards you.Â
âWe can rope Denki and Momo into this so we can be the quartet,â you joked.Â
âIs this an excuse for us to get more shirts?â Jiro asked.
âMaybe?â You bit your lip and let out a loud laugh.
Jiro laughed with you, and soon, you were both on the floor laughing.
~
The last thing you heard from Jiro was a strangled sob, mixed with the word âHelpâ
~Â
Then came Kaminari, your wild card of a friend.
~
âHaha! Nice one Kaminari!â You yelled. This was the fifth game that Kaminari had gotten a stuffed toy from, and much to Kirishima and Bakugoâs dismay, they were the ones who had to hold them,
âKaminari, can you chill out on the games?â Kirishima complained. âIâm being drowned by these things.â
âIâm on a roll and no one is going to stop me!â Kaminari proclaimed proudly.Â
âHow about (y/n) plays the next game, and if they screw it up and donât win, we can go do something else?â Bakugo bargains.
Kaminari thinks about it. âFine, (y/n) is a carnival game God, thereâs no way theyâre going to lose!âÂ
âYouâre going to be eating your words in a minute Dunce Face,â Bakugo retorted.
You and the Bakusqaud walked over to a game that Bakugo was sure you couldnât win.Â
âThis isnât fair!â Kaminari complained. âNo one ever wins this!â
âThatâs the point Dunce Face,â Bakugo rolls his eyes.Â
âWatch and learn everyone,â you gave a ticket to the worker behind the counter and got three darts.Â
âThereâs no way (y/n) is going to land three darts,â Kirishima said.
You lined up with the balloons and threw the first dart.Â
POP!
âLucky shot!â Bakugo argued.Â
You looked back and grinned at him.
âWeâll see about that.â
You looked back towards the balloons and aimed again.Â
POP!
âIâm just super lucky, I guess,â you mocked.
âTch, youâre not going to get the third one,â Bakugo claimed.
Rolling your eyes, you throw the last dart at a green balloon. It bounces off, and Kaminariâs excited face shifts to disappointment.
âHa, I told you,â Bakugo says triumphantly.
While the dart falls to the floor, you use your psychokinesis quirk and lift it.
âEh?â Bakugo asks.
Guiding the dart forward, you stab the green balloon with it.Â
POP!
âYou were saying Bakuhoe?â You snarkily said.Â
âTHATâS CHEATING!â Bakugo whined.
âNice one (Y/n),â Kirishima fist bumped you, and Ashido laughed at Bakugoâs complaining.
âWhich one do you want?â The person working asked.
You looked at all of the plushies.
âThat one,â you pointed.Â
The person working handed you the giant Ground Zero plushie and you added it to the growing stack in Bakugoâs arms.
âI hate you so much,â Bakugo groaned.
âThis is awesome,â Kaminari took his phone out and took a picture of Bakugo buried under the plushies.
âI hate all of you,â Bakugo repeated.
~
To think that you would never have another moment with Kaminari was unthinkable. You thought you would both have forever to do stupid things together.Â
~
â(Y/n)!â Ashido called.Â
âWhatâs wrong?â You asked.Â
She paused for a minute to take a breath. âKaminari is going to do human tire bowling!â
âOh my gosh, yes!â You squealed. âLets go! Where is he?âÂ
Ashido motioned for you to follow her, and when you two left the common room, you saw Kirishima stacking trashcans and Kaminari standing next to Bakugo.
âThis is dumb, someone is going to get hurt,â Bakugo complained.
âYou worry for us Bakugo! How nice!â Kaminari prodded at Bakugo.
Sero impatiently rocked the tire back and forth. âCome on guys, lets get started.â
âIâm going first, and then Bakugo and Ashido will go. That means Kaminari and (Y/n) are a team, and theyâll go third.â Kirishima explained. âItâs like normal bowling. You get two tries, and then the next team goes. The next round, the person who wasnât in the tire gets to be in the tire. Weâll do ten frames, so each person gets to be in the tire five times.âÂ
âDid he do the math right Bakugo?â Sero asked.Â
âYeah whatever, lets just start so I can beat all of you,â Bakugo smirked.Â
âYouâre on Bakuhoe,â you teased. âCome on Denki, letâs do this!â
~
The last thing you heard from Kaminari was a scream that tore through the vault and through your heart.
~
You were the last one hit, and your eyes teared up. It was as if everything slowed down.Â
You saw your mother.
~
â(Y/n), come over here,â your mom called. She was watching a news broadcast of heroes who had stopped a small gang of villains.Â
âWow!â you had said. âSomeday Iâm going to be a hero just like that!âÂ
âI know youâll be a great hero,â your mom hugged you close to her. âI know that youâll make me proud.â
~
You saw your acceptance into UA.
~
âDid you get that mail?â You almost tackled your mom as she came in.Â
âYes, I did.â She chuckled. âSomeoneâs excited.âÂ
You shuffled through the mail that she put on the table, and found what you were looking for.
When you opened the envelope, you realized that you had been accepted into UA, the top hero school in Japan. Not only had you been accepted into UA, but you were also put into the hero course, and you would be in 1A.
âMom! I did it!â You had shrieked. âUA HERE I COME!âÂ
âIâm so proud of you!â She jumped up and hugged you. âYouâre going to be a hero!â
âI canât wait!â
~
You saw short moments with your friends.
~
âBakugo what are you reading?â You had asked.
âHah? Nothing,â Bakugo sat on his book and defiantly looked at you.
You looked at him, suspicious, and using your quirk, you pushed Bakugo over and grabbed his book.
âBakugo, you read âMaid Sama!â?â You looked at him, shocked.Â
âYeah, what about it?â He said, trying to keep his tough guy facade up.
âBakugo, why didnât you tell me?â You shrilled, âWe could have had so many good convertations you UWU boy!â
âShut up,â he grumbled.
~
You knew that Bakugo the gremlin would miss you, Kaminari, and even Todoroki. Though he would never admit it.
~
âHow could you do this?â You asked Kirishima. âHow could you betray me like this?â
â(Y/n), Iâm sorry, I didnât know-â He started.Â
âNo! I donât want to hear it! I despise you Eijiro Kirishima!â You yelled.Â
âShitty Hair, put the damn card down,â Bakugo said, annoyed.
âNO! DONâT DO IT!â You pleaded. âI thought we were best friends!âÂ
âWe are (y/n), but I must do what I have to do,â Kirishima slowly put his second to last card down. âUno!â
âStop him!â Ashido begged. âSomeone put a wild card down!âÂ
âI got you!â Kaminari was after Kirishima, and he placed his wild card down, choosing red.Â
âDamn you,â Bakugo grabbed another card from the deck and added to his slowly growing hand of eight cards.
âI call skip!â You put a red skip card down and skipped Ashido.Â
â(Y/n)!â She whined.Â
âI had to Ashido, you could have put down a card that would lead to Kirishimaâs victory!â You reasoned.Â
âGuess what color my last card is,â Kirishima let out a shark toothed grin.
âNo!â You all yelled.
âRed seven,â he placed his card down. âI win!â
You all wailed and groaned and complained.Â
âWho wants to play again?â You asked.
~
When you needed small things, they always came through, because you always came through for them.
~
âTodoroki, my drink is warm,â you complained.
âWhat should I do about it?â He asked, stoic as usual.
âMaybe you could make me a couple ice cubes,â you prodded.
â(Y/n), you know Iâm not supposed to use my quirk without permission,â he argued.Â
âBut this is an emergency!â You dramatically said.Â
âFine, only this once,â Todoroki agreed reluctantly. He made four ice cubes and put them in your drink.Â
âThank you Todoroki!â You grinned at him as you sipped your drink.
~
Yeah your friends might have been idiots, but at least they were always there for you, comforting you in your worst moments.Â
~
âHey (y/n), are you okay?â Midoriya asked you.Â
âOh yeah, Iâm fine Midoriya,â you said through sniffles.
He looked at you with wide eyes. âAre you absolutely sure you donât need me to stay?â He asked.
âWell, I do need someone to talk to,â you patted the open spot next to you on the bench.
Midoriya sat down and hugged you. âItâs okay, you donât even need to tell me what happened.â
âThanks Midoriya,â you said. âIâm glad youâre here.âÂ
âIâll always be there for you. Youâll always be my friend!â Midoriya smiled at you and you smiled back.Â
~
They were also there to celebrate your greatest acheivements.
~
âWE DID IT!â You yelled out.Â
âYeah we did,â Jiro echoed.
âIâm so glad I met you guys,â you said to your classmates. âStay in touch with me alright? And donât be afraid to call for help! Youâll always be my girls!â
âI love you all!â Ashido squealed.Â
âLove you too,â Jiro repeated.
âYou guys are the best,â Yaoyorozu added.Â
âI canât wait to be a pro hero,â Asui said.
âI hope we can see each other again soon,â Uraraka and Hagukare said at the same time.
âSame! Iâm going to miss you guys so much,â you teared up and the girls of 1A group hugged.
â(Y/n), whoâs agency are you going to go to?â Uraraka asked.
âWell actually,â you started,âI think that I might start my own agency.â
They all blinked at you in disbelief, then broke out into grins.
âYouâre going to be great!â Yaoyorozu excitedly said.Â
âIâm so happy for you!â Hagukare shouted.Â
âEnough about me, who wants to get the rest of our classmates and have a graduation dinner?â You asked.Â
Everyone cheered and hugged.Â
It was the end of your chapter at UA, but you would start a new one once you formed your agency.Â
~
You hoped that Yaoyorozu, Uraraka, Ashido, and Asui wouldnât be too broken up over your death.
~
âmY Ex-mAn BRoUGhT hIS nEw GiRLFrieND,â you sung loudly.
âSheâS LiKE oH mY GoD, BuT IâM jUST goNNA ShAKE iT,â Ashido continued.
âanD tO thE FeLLa OVeR ThEre WiTH ThE hELLa GOod HaIR,â Jiro bopped.
"WonâT yOU coME oN oVEr BAbY wE cAN shAkE, sHAke, ShAKe,â Uraraka finished.Â
You all burst out laughing, as Jiro danced with Yaoyorozu.Â
âIâm so glad we got to spend today together,â Ashido said. âPro hero work has been exhausting!âÂ
âOh my gosh, youâre so right,â Uraraka sighed.
âIâm just glad that we could all make time to hang out,â you said. âWe can always get together though.â
âRight, now who wants popcorn?â Jiro asked.Â
~
Who knew that would be the last time you would see them in person. It was a realization that brought on strong emotional pain on top of the physical pain that came with being in a burning vault.Â
Your mother spoke again, but unlike earlier, it wasnât filled with energy. It was soft.Â
~
â(Y/n), Iâm so proud of you,â your mother said.Â
~
Her voice was soft and loving. It was warm, in a good way. You missed your mom and wished that you spent more time with her after graduating.
~
You hugged your mom tightly and asked âReally?â
She hugged back and smiled. âMy child is a pro hero thatâs running their own agency. How could I be more proud?âÂ
âI love you mom,â you said, choked up.
âI love you too,â she said.
~
You had so much love to spread around, and you had given it to all of your friends. They had always deserved it.
~
âShut up,â he grumbled. âI trust you okay, so donât go around talking about what you saw.âÂ
âOkay, okay,â you agreed, then more seriously you said,âI love you, Bakuhoe.â
âEh?â He asked, clearly confused.
âI said that I love you, best friend,â you repeated.Â
âYeah whatever, I tolerate you more than others I guess,â Bakugo rolled his eyes.Â
âAnd thatâs enough for me,â you sat down on the couch next to him.
~
âWho wants to play again?â You asked.
Everyone agreed.Â
âGuys, I know I donât say it enough, but I love all of you,â you quietly mentioned.Â
âOur platonic love will keep us all together forever!â Ashido commented.Â
âThis is too much love, I think Iâm going to fall into a hole and die,â Bakugo dramaticaly recited.Â
âBakubro, you have got to join the dark side,â Kirishima said. âWe know you love all of us in your own twisted Bakubro way.â
âWe should make shirts that say âKatsuki Bakugo Wuvs Usâ,â Kaminari suggested.Â
âOh my God yes,â you agreed.Â
~
âThank you Todoroki!â You grinned at him as you sipped your drink.Â
âThat is the only time, okay,â he reminded.Â
âYeah I know.â You agreed on impulse. âI love you Todoroki, youâre the best friend I could have.â
âThatâs very sudden, (y/n),â he said, surprised. âWhat brought this on?â
âI just need to tell all of my friends how much I care about them,â you explained.
~
âIâll always be there for you. Youâll always be my friend!â Midoriya smiled at you and you smiled back.Â
âI love you Midoriya,â you said.
âI love you too (y/n),â Midoriya said back.Â
You smiled at Midoriya and embraced him.
~
It was the end of your chapter at UA, but you would start a new one once you formed your agency.Â
âGirls, before we leave, I want you to know that UA wouldnât have been the same without you guys,â you started. âI love all of you to the moon and back.â
âWe love you too, (y/n),â Yaoyorozu said back.Â
âI know, and Iâll remember until the day I die,â you linked arms with Yaoyorozu and Jiro, then started to skip around.Â
âI still want food though, so lets go.â
~
âRight, now who wants popcorn?â Jiro asked.Â
You all raised your hands and Jiro counted the hands that were in the air.Â
âThis is super random, and I know I say it a lot, but I want you guys to know how much I love all of you,â you said thoughtfully.Â
Uraraka didnât say anything and hugged you tightly.
âYou have no idea how much I needed to hear that,â she sobbed quietly.Â
âItâs okay Uraraka, weâll be here for you, always,â you held her tightly.Â
~
Your memories finished flashing in front of your eyes, and just as fast as it started, everything was over.Â
And despite everything going on, you managed to smile.Â
Yes, you were in pain, but just like in all of your lifeâs special moments, you had pushed through to let your positivity shine through. You smile would be the last thing that your friends would see of you, and you knew that your job here was done.Â
They could live knowing that you had died loving them.Â
âI love you, all of you,â you whispered, closing your eyes.Â
Quite fittingly, those were the last words you said.Â
Then, you welcomed the darkness.Â
~
The next day, you and the otherâs that had been trapped in the vault didnât show up for work, so a group of pro heroes searched for all of you.Â
The first place they checked was the vault that you had all gone to. The door was blown off, and they found four bodies that day.Â
Four true heroes, lost forever.Â
âWho are they?â Midoriya, the pro hero âDekuâ, asked.Â
âWe havenât identified them for for sure yet, but based on the information we know, we can assume (y/n) (l/n), Shoto Todoroki, Kyoka Jiro, and Denki Kaminari,â the police officer said.Â
âWhat?â Bakugo stood next to Midoriya, questioning the officer.
âWe know that you were good friends with who we assume the deceased are, and offer our condolences,â the officer walked away, not wanting to be suceptible to the wrath of Ground Zero.Â
âKacchan-,â Midoriya started.
âAGHHH!â Bakugo yelled, kicking the wall.
He remembered you and Dunce Face, and even Icy-Hot and Earjack girl.Â
You had all meant something to him, even if he never showed it.Â
âGround Zero, sir, you and Deku have been the two requested to customize (l/n)âs headstone,â a small, wiry man said. âThe police said that itâs highly likely that one of the bodies is (l/n)âs, and that we should make arrangements.â
âGive it,â Bakugo motioned for the clipboard he was holding, and the man turned it to him.Â
He paused on the engraving.Â
âKacchan, let me,â Midoriya said, taking the pen from him and filling the engraving part out.Â
Bakugo read what Midoriya put, and reeled back.Â
âI love you? Isnât that a bit basic?â Bakugo asked.Â
â(Y/n) loved us all, and was never afraid to say it,â Midoriya said pointedly.
âGive me the damn clipboard Deku,â Bakugo grabbed the clipboard and scratched out âI love youâ, writing âThe greatest gift to give is love, and I shared this gift with everyone.â
Handing the clipboard back to Midoriya, Bakugo folded his arms. âWell?â He asked.Â
âI like it Kacchan,â Midoriya approved.Â
â(Y/n) would have liked it too,â Bakugo looked at his feet. Â
â(Y/n) loved everyone, and wanted us all to get along, so why donât we start over?â Midoriya asked.Â
âI guess we can do that,â Bakugo kicked at the ground, wanting to say something snarky, but refraining. He had been such an ass to Deku, so who was he to refuse a fresh start?
âHi, Iâm Izuku Midoriya, the pro hero, âDekuâ,â Deku stuck out his hand.
Bakugo shook it.Â
âMy name is Katsuki Bakugo, and Iâm the pro hero âGround Zeroâ,â Bakugo introduced.
âI think we have the potential to be great friends,â Midoriya smiled at Bakugo, not in admiration to worship him, but this time as an equal.
A friend.Â
Bakugo smirked back. âYeah, I think I can make that work.â
With that, Bakugo and Midoriya walked away from the vault together, surprising everyone.
The pair knew that you would have been proud.
They had put aside their differences and past to create something new.Â
All because of you.Â
For even in death you were still bringing people together.
And as long as people remembered you for that, you would never truly die.

Relentless
Summary: When it ends, it hurts more than youâd anticipated, and just as much as he had.
This is a sequel to my fic Reckless, which you can find in my EXO masterpost! It works okay as a standalone, too, I think. For @illneverrecoverâ just because :)
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: some violence and blood (it is a gang au after all), unprotected sex, angst
Word Count: 3087
In hindsight, you'd always known it wouldn't work. With what he does, with who he is, and with who you areâŚ.it was always doomed. You'd never been one to say no to trying anything new and fun, though, and you hadn't expected to fall in love.
So when it ends it hurts a lot more than you'd anticipated.
You're arguing, you're always arguing, and this time it's because he comes in with his nose bleeding at three in the morning, having been jumped after a job and he'd broken his phone and he just doesn't seem to understand why you're so upset.
"Fuck you," you spit, your voice shaking. "Fuck you and your stab wounds and how every time you take more than a few minutes to call me back I think I'll be attending your funeral. I'm done."
His eyes widen, blood crusted around his nose, his shirt covered in it. "You don't mean that, yeah? It's okay, I'm okay. We're okay." He takes a step toward you but you're already striding to the bedroom, shoving clothes into a tote bag.
"Y/n,â he says from the doorway, loud, angry, and you don't say a word, going to the bathroom to throw your makeup into the bag.
"Y/n," he says again when you get to the doorway, blocking it with his body, but this time it's soft, shaking. "Hey. Don't."
You hate the tears streaming down his face and you hate him and you hate yourself and what you hate most of all is how when he says, "Please, jagi," it echoes in your ears for days.
You block his number, block everyone's number because you have to be done with all of it, have to be done with him because you know you're not strong enough to stay away otherwise.Â
Baekhyun feels like there's this hole in his gut, the instant the door closes behind you and he tells himself you'll be back. Every day, he tells himself you'll cool off, unblock his number, come back to the mansion and put away all your things, crawl back into his bed.
It'll be fine. It'll be fine because it has to be, because every time he lets himself think about what happens if you don't come home, his throat tightens and he can barely breathe.Â
When Sehun rolls his ankle running from the cops he calls asking for you and Baekhyun tells him to go fuck himself.
"Trouble in paradise?" He asks.
"Fuck you."
After that, no one asks about you. No one even mentions your name, it's like you were some fever dream he'd had for months. He drives by your apartment over and over, sees the light in your window and his chest hurts.Â
He throws himself into work, barely sleeps because he wakes up reaching for you in bed and it makes that hole in his gut grow and grow everytime he doesn't find you there, curled against him. The adrenaline from swinging his bat into someone's lower back, jumping fences to escape the sirens, narrowly avoiding a bullet, it's different than it used to be.
It used to help, lessen that buzzing in his head, that hole that never seemed to be filled in his stomach, but now all he can see is your tear stained face, feel you brushing against him as you ducked under his arm to leave.
He gets grazed by a bullet on the fifth night and when he doesn't even make it to the car where Chanyeol is waiting, sits down hard on the pavement, breathing hard. There's no air coming in, feels like his chest is caving in and he feels blood trickling down his side but he can't move, even when Chanyeol yells his name.
He doesn't remember getting back to the mansion, doesn't even realize he's there until Chanyeol shoves him down on the couch, slapping at his cheeks.
"Baek. Stop, you're okay. You're okay."
His best friend sounds slightly panicked so Baekhyun lifts his head, whoops in what feels like the first breath since he'd felt the sting of the bullet graze across his rib.
His face is wet and he hadn't even known he was crying.Â
"Fuck," he gasps, and it sounds liquid.
Jongdae wraps gauze around his ribs, itâs nothing, barely a scratch, and Junmyeon brings him a glass of what looks like scotch and Baekhyun gulps it down without even tasting it.
Theyâre all looking at him like heâs about to scream and it makes him want to so he rubs a hand over his face, barks out a laugh.
âIâm okay. Itâs nothing.â
No one believes him. He doesnât believe himself.
Itâs been seven days, ten hours and forty five minutes when Junmyeon knocks on his door.
He clears his throat, looks uncomfortable.
âNew job?â Baekhyun asks, voice hoarse from lack of sleep.
Junmyeon shakes his head. âNo jobs for a while. You know that.â
Baekhyun huffs out a breath. Heâd been benched for the last two days, after the graze, even though it was already scabbed over.Â
âShe wants me to ship her some of her things,â Junmyeon says quietly, and Baekhyun sits down on the bed, feeling as if his legs wonât hold him up anymore.
âSheâŚ.you talk to her?â He feels betrayed, somehow, his heart racing.
Junmyeon shrugs. âSometimes.â
Something is rising in Baekhyunâs throat, something like rage or panic or both and he bites at his lip to keep from yelling. âWhy ship it? Tell her to come get it,â he barks.
Junmyeon raises an eyebrow and Baekhyun rubs his hands over his face.
"Iâll leave for the night. She wonât have to see me.â
He knows he sounds bitter and angry and sad but fuck it, he is all of those things and thereâs this fucking hole inside him now, something so different than that pull he used to get when he was bored, something so big and yawning he tries not to think about it.
Junmyeon nods, stoic as always and Baekhyun throws a pillow at the door when he closes it.
He dresses in something that hasn't been lying on the floor for a week, a black button up and jeans, and peeks his head into Sehun's room.
"We're going out."
Sehun looks up from his video game. "You buying?"
Baekhyun rolls his eyes. "Whatever. Let's go."
After the fourth shot of soju, Baekhyun wonders why he hasn't done this already. His head feels numb in the most blissful way, and he can skirt around the thought of you hating the idea of seeing him so much you'd wanted your things shipped to you.
When he and Sehun finish a second bottle, he remembers why he hasn't drank since you left.
It's simple, just him fumbling with his phone because his thumbs don't seem to work as well anymore. His screen shows this picture of you, one you hadn't wanted him to take. You're lying on your belly, just the hint of your lace panties beneath his tshirt showing. You'd turned your head just in time to stick your tongue out at him.
He feels like someone has punched him in the chest, head spinning suddenly, even though he's only mildly drunk. He wonders if you're there now, picking through your things, taking every part of yourself that you'd left there, leaving nothing behind but how you'd smelled on his sheets, the memory of you in his arms.
âYou look like shit.â Sehun says bluntly. âIâll order another bottle.â
Baekhyun tears his eyes away from his phone, putting it away so that he canât scroll through all your pictures like he wants to. He nods dumbly and when the new bottle comes he drinks straight from the neck instead of pouring a shot.
âGross,â Sehun complains, and Baekhyun throws up his middle finger.
Everything goes blurry around the edges just after that.
Youâre trying to hurry, stuffing anything you can find into your suitcase. You donât know if youâre worried heâll show up or worried he wonât. You stop short when you see his wastebasket turned on one corner, bloody gauze spilling out of it.
Your heart vaults into your throat. âNo,â you murmur to yourself. âNo, itâs not your problem anymore.â
Your throat feels tight with tears and you head to the bathroom to make a final scan when you hear the door open, loud as if it were slammed open, and nearly jump out of your skin.
âHey! Donât -â You hear Junmyeonâs voice and then the door being slammed shut again.
âJagiya?âÂ
Youâd know that voice anywhere, even as quiet and slurred as it was, and you want to slam the bathroom door shut, climb out the fucking window. Instead, you squeeze your eyes shut and take a deep breath before stepping into the bedroom.
âFuck,â you whisper when you open your eyes, and you know the tears are coming even as you fight them back down.
He looks like hell, eyes red rimmed, swaying on his feet.Â
âJagiya,â he says again, mournfully, sitting down on the bed in a slump. He wonât stop looking at you and you canât tear your eyes away from his.
âSorry,â you mutter. âMeant to be gone before you got home.â
You start to walk past him but he grabs hold of your backpack, tugging you back gently.
âWait wait wait,â he mumbles.
âBaekhyun, please,â you whisper, voice cracking, and youâre shocked when he lets you go.
Everything in you tells you that you need to leave, not to turn around, not to look at him, but youâre remembering the bloody gauze in the wastebasket and you turn to look at him.
Heâs got his face in his hands, elbows on his thighs and you let out a long breath and crouch in front of him.
âAre you hurt?âÂ
Baekhyun barks out a bitter laugh. âMmph, as if you care.â
âFuck you,â you retort, but thereâs no bite to it. âAre you hurt?â
âYou fucking left me,â he chokes out, words slurred around the edges.Â
âWhere are you hurt? I saw the bandages, just fucking tell me where youâre hurt-â You tug at his shirt, impatient, still fighting tears, and you gasp when you see the gash across his ribs, starting to scab over.
He doesnât fight you, just looks at you with wet, glassy eyes, chin raised definitely. âWhat does it matter? It doesnât fucking matter.âÂ
There it is, finally, the anger, rising in your throat and you push at his chest with both hands. He tilts backwards but doesnât fall, still glaring at you.
âOf course it fucking matters, you asshole!â
âYou left me!â He roars, and heâs crying and youâre crying and itâs too much, it feels like thereâs someone sitting on your chest and you want to get up and leave but instead you sit down on the floor and put your face in your hands, sobs catching in your throat.
You expect him to yell more or just sit there staring at you but instead you hear a thud as he drops onto the floor, taking your hands in his.
âJagiya. Y/n, donât cry. Iâm sorry. Iâm sorry, Iâm sorry,â he babbles, kissing your knuckles, squeezing your fingers when you try to pull away.
âStop it, you need stitches, you idiot!â
ââIâm fucked up,â he mumbles, and youâre surprised into a laugh.
âYeah, I noticed,â you snort out, wiping at your face.
âNo, not-â He laughs then too and sits back against the bed, giving you this big dumb smile that makes your heart skip. âI know Iâm fucked up, I donât...I donât want the right things and I do dumb shit and you deserve better. But I love you, cutie.â
âDonât call me cutie,â you hiccup, crying all over again at the pet name.
âI love you,â he says again, and he holds his arms out, tears still streaking down his cheeks.
âFuck,â you mumble and itâs liquid in your throat, your nose clogged.Â
Youâre crawling into his arms before you can talk yourself out of it and he breathes out your name against your neck, plants kisses along the side of your face.
In half an hour youâve got a needle and nylon thread, on your knees on his bed.
Heâs just staring at you with this dopey grin.
âLetâs do this while youâre still drunk,â you laugh, and he barely flinches when you pierce the skin. It isnât bad, really, only still open in the middle and healing around the edges, but from the state of his room youâre a bit worried about infection, make a mental note to ask Jongdae for penicillin.Â
When you finish you put on a fresh bandage, stand up at the edge of the bed.
He watches you with half lidded eyes as you stand there, unsure.
âWill you stay?â
When you hesitate, he sits up on the bed and you make a displeased noise in the back of your throat.
âThe stitches-â
âFuck the stitches. Will you please stay?â His eyes are wide and pleading and youâre crawling on the bed before you can change your mind.
He wraps himself around you, and when you try to turn over he presses his forehead against yours.Â
âPlease stay,â he says again, and you donât answer, tug the covers up over both of you.
When Baekhyun wakes up with a headache and an ache across his ribs, he wonders how much of it he dreamed. It isnât unlikely that he got in a bar fight and thatâs the pain in his ribs, that the pounding of his head is just the soju and not the crying and yelling heâd done when heâd come home to find you in his room.
He doesnât open his eyes, just shifts on the bed and then he hears you make this snuffling sound in your sleep and his heart bursts wide open.
âJagi,â he murmurs hoarsely, tugs you into his arms, squeezing you around the waist until you squeak.
âFuck you, itâs early,â you mumble, and he laughs, presses his mouth against your throat.
He doesnât open his eyes until heâs yanked off your panties, waits until you gasp his name while heâs two knuckles deep inside you to open them, see your face with your head thrown back. He barely brushes against your clit, waiting for that sharp exhale you do when youâre frustrated.
âStop teasing and fuck me already,â you groan, and he laughs, kisses along the line of your throat as he pumps his fingers in and out of you.
âSo wet already,â he mumbles. âYou missed me.â
âFuck off,â you say, but itâs more of a gasp.
âPlease, I know how hard it is for you to go a week without dick,â he teases.
âWho said I did?â
He freezes, eyes shooting to your face. Youâre smirking, teasing, heâs almost sure but it isnât like itâs impossibleâŚ
Baekhyun grunts and unbuttons his jeans, impatiently spreading your thighs to slide into you and hiding his face in your neck, groaning at how your ankles lock at the small of his back, how your cunt clenches around him.
âDoesnât matter, you still missed me,â he says, as if to convince himself. He feels suddenly small and insecure so he hides it by fucking you hard and dirty, leaving marks on your throat and your collarbone, sitting up on his knees to palm your breasts as he thrusts into you.
You let out a string of curses when you cum and Baekhyun stops moving, breathing hard as you clench around his cock.Â
âI missed you,â he says, letting his mouth run away with him in case you go after this, in case itâs really over and he doesnât get another chance. âEvery day. Every minute.â
âBaek-â you start, and instead of listening to you tell him the reasons you should go he starts fucking you again, slow and deep and he kisses you silent when he empties himself inside of you.
He stays there a moment, softening inside you and pressing his forehead against yours before he rolls off you, covers his face with his hands.
âWhat are you doing?â
âIf youâre gonna go, I canât watch you do it,â he says hoarsely, and presses the heels of his palms into his eyes.
âYouâre so fucking stupid,â you scoff, pulling his hands away from his face. âWhere am I gonna go? Back to that shitty apartment when I could stay here in this mansion with all these handsome men?â
Baekhyun blinks. âYou...youâre gonna stay? For good?â
You shrug but youâre smiling. âIf you keep your shit together, yeah, maybe, and stop almost getting shot.â
âJagi,â his throat feels full and he searches your face. âJagi, donât tease me, I-â
âYouâre stupid. Youâre stupid and reckless and you make me worry. I worry because I donât want anything to happen to you. I donât want you hurt because I love you.â You scrunch your nose as if it physically pains you to say it, but Baekhyun is so happy he canât help but laugh.
âJunmyeon benched me because I was such a mess,â he admits, and you rest your head on his chest.
âGood. Youâre too stupid to be doing this job, you donât take care of yourself.â
Baekhyun hums low in his throat, rubbing your back. âNeed you to tell me Iâm stupid and to take care of myself. Canât do it alone.â
You lift your head to look at him. âGuess Iâll have to stay for good after all, huh?â
Baekhyun nods solemnly. âForever, even.â
âShut up,â you mumble, and put your head back on his chest.
Even when he starts going back out on jobs, heâs more careful, and every time he feels that pull in his gut that makes him want to chase adrenaline, he thinks of how it felt when you left, when the door closed behind you and his heart closed up tight.
When he comes home late and youâre angry he kisses the little worry lines between your eyes, tells you heâs sorry and heâll do better, and actively tries to do better.Â
Being reckless was one thing when he didnât have you to come home to, cuddled in his bed with your legs tucked under you and shooting him a smile when he walked in the door.
Being reckless didnât seem to be nearly as much fun when you had a home.

"Are you ever going to show me what's in here?" Aiko rapped a knuckle against the hard steel door. Kalle gave her a glance, his brow cocked with a frown on his face. She gave him an innocent look, but he knew the curiosity had to be burning her up. He snorted,
"Not if I can help it."
She wrinkled her nose and stuck out her tongue, "Why not?"
He turned back to the project in his hands, "Because there's nothing in there you need to see, that's why."
He felt a weight on his shoulder, and he hid his laugh with a cough, "But Old Man...!"
"I said no, Aiko, and I mean it. Now don't you have a date with Lucius, or something?"
Aiko sighed, but still rested on his shoulder. Her head leaned into his, "Yeah, but that's not until later." She nudged him playfully, "So maybe you can show me what's behind the door?"
"Aiko, I try not to make it a habit to repeat myself." Kalle warned dryly, he felt his patience start to thin. If she noticed it certianly didn't bother her. Instead she made a face before kissing his cheek and sweeping out of the room. Kalle shook his head in amusement.
It was Aiko's nature to be so curious about everything, and Kalle could hardly blame her for it. Yet, there were things she didn't need to know or see. The secrets behind that door were among many; artifacts of great age and terrible power best kept out of sight. Roboute was the only one who knew what lie behind that door, for not even Cato was privy to the knowledge.
All the better to protect him, and Aiko as well.
A notification signal drew his attention to the data slate sitting on the table. He rose with a grunt, his joints popping as he investigated. He scrolled through several mundane messages until he found a summons from the Primarch Guilliman himself. Curious as to what could be so important, Kalle dressed and left within the half hour.
He greeted passing marines with a silent nod, a silent shadow in the halls all the way to the lower docks of the Maccrage's Honor. It was clear that the Victrix guard had just returned with their Primarch, several marines were already in the process of unpacking when he arrived. He spotted Cato overseeing the guard on the far end of the bay, and he exchanged a passing smile with him.
It was nice to have him home again.
Primarch Guilliman hovered in the threshold of an empty transport, a nervous energy about him as Kalle approached. The old Night Lord dipped his head in greeting,
"Primarch Guilliman, I take my presence here means you found something?"
"Yes." The large man turned on his heel with Kalle quick to follow. He hit the button next to the ramp so the pair could have privacy. The artificial lights of the docking bay gave way to near darkness save for the eerie glow of the artifact.
It was stored in a reinforced steel and glass container that sat square in the middle of the isle. The faceted sides of the decahedron were engraved in glowing runes that emitted a blue and green light.
"We don't know what it is. We found it in a subterranean ruin surrounded by Tzeentch iconography."
Kalle stooped to his haunches and carefully turned the container, "Did anything happen when you went to contain it?"
"The first two marines who approached were hit with a lightning arc and aged in moments. They were dead and dust before they hit the ground."
The old Night Lord hummed under his breath, but continued to observe,
"A few of my Librarians managed to create a containment field so we could properly transport it. I wish to destroy it, but wanted your opinion on the matter before I carried out my plan."
"A smart decision. It's aura is intricately tied to its surroundings and to the warp. Who knows what chaotic energies might have been unleashed should you have tried."
Guilliman shifted on his feet, "Permanent containment then?"
"I'll have to study it first before I can design a vault to effectively seal it. With your permission, of course."
Kalle stood with a grunt; Guilliman considered the artifact for a long moment before giving him a resolute nod. "You're sure the vault in your room will be strong enough to contain any accidents?"
"Yes."
"Then proceed, and report your findings to me. I will clear the halls to your stateroom so you may transport the artifact."
Kalle was left with the artifact, to which he paced around in curiosity. Already he was forming his theories just from the Primarch's report alone. He was careful to pick up the container when he was finally given permission to move it. Any sudden movement could set off a reaction, and the last thing he wanted was an accident.
The halls were quiet, not a marine or guardsman in sight. He studied this curious object in his hands as he walked, eager to get it into his vault so he could experiment. His stateroom was empty as far as he could tell; he sent a quick report to Guillman that he'd arrived and would start his studies. Another was sent to Cato stating he would be missing dinner.
Sure that everything was in order Kalle opened his vault door. He ran a talon down the full length of the hard steel. Intricate arcane lines hissed in esoteric patterns from the touch, dissolving right before his eyes. As the last of the sigils disappeared he pressed his palm into the door and pushed his mind through the steel to force it open. The steel barrier split and opened with a pop. A thin veil of mist swept out from within, thick swirls dissipating with each of his steps.
The room was far bigger than the outside implied. It took Kalle several months of work to complete his vault; a separate space not quite in real space but not quite in the warp. A tenuous dimension where the rules of neither plane really applied. Here he could contain the artifacts too dangerous to destroy.
Or experiment on them to his heart's content.
It was a wide, windowless expanse separated into three floors. The ground floor, which connected to the vault door, contained several glass cases meticulously displayed across the space. Each cases was organized with care, its contents as varied as the next. Several firearms sat in locked containers, interesting to look upon but deadly to wield. Another held Arcane Foci of various designs ranging from jewelry to glowing crystals of bright colors.
The second and third floor contained all manner of tomes and mural fragments. Forbidden collections that he had hoarded over the eons and best kept from mortal hands.
At the far end of the ground floor Kalle cleared off his work table with a flick of his wrist. Papers lined with runes and writing, along with several books, put themselves away as he set the decahedron on the table. He braced himself on the workbench and eyed the artifact. It seemed stable enough, yet he projected a barrier around himself just in case.
Carefully, he flipped the locks of the container and opened it. A static charge filled the air as he lifted the decahedron with a shadowy tendril, not at all eager to physically touch it. Thankfully, there were no adverse effects and he set the artifact on the table.
A thousand and one thoughts rushed through his head. Another flick of the wrist summoned empty parchment and quills that hovered midair, and wrote his theories as they came to mind. Runes and symbols crossed several pieces of paper in mere minutes while Kalle circled the table, his gaze trained on the artifact in fascination. He pushed at it with the warp and it hissed in reply, a thin arc of lightning sparking off the table.
He pushed again and another angry arc sparked, this time off the floor at his feet. It was like the artifact had a mind of it's own, as it exhibited signs of displeasure at being touched and harrassed. He pushed again and the static charge intensified enough that a glow filled the room and the sparks from the decahedron lifted it off the table for a moment. Kalle reached out and suspended the artifact, pulling the warp to keep the ambient energies at bay.
They fought, Kalle and this strange artifact, vying for power over one another. And he was winning, and he allowed himself to gloat over the idea of experimenting on this thing.
A shadow of movement just beyond artifact caught his eye. Kalle hesitated and broke eye contact with the decahedron, gaze widening as he spied Aiko among his collection.
"Aiko! What in-"
His lapse in concentration was all that was needed.
"No!"
A loud crack echoed through the room and nearly deafened him. Kalle wrapped the artifact in shadow and forced it back into its container as a large arc of lightning lit up the room. In the span of seconds he closed the lid and leapt over his work table. He called to the warp, begged it to make him weightless, fast enough to intercept the temporal arc heading straight towards his daughter.
Aiko's scream filled the air as it impacted, sending Kalle off his feet and onto his back from the blast. He grunted as he landed, rolling onto his knees with little thought about the pain.
"Aiko!"
He stumbled into a display case, disoriented from the noise and the impact. There was a loud ringing in his ears, even as his heart pounded away in his chest.
No, no, no...
Your fault, your fault. You didn't lock the door behind you, and she followed you in. She's gone and it's your fault!
Tears spilled down his cheeks, as he found the black stain on the carpet. His heart clenched, every breath felt painful as he fell to his knees.
No, no, no!
"Aiko!"
Kalle cradled his head, his shoulders wracking with his silent sobs. Guilt washed over him in relentless waves. How could he face Cato, and tell him that Aiko was gone because of his carelessness? How could he face all who had come to love her?
Your fault, your fault. The monster once again strikes, some things never change.
"Da?"
A small hand touched his shoulder. Kalle looked up to find bright, half pitched eyes gazing at him and full of tears. Long, thick black hair fell over the shoulders a tiny girl who looked no older four years old. His heart stopped and his blood froze, disbelief racing through him. His own hand reached out, almost hesitant as he traced her cheek.
His gaze flicked to the display case just behind her, a pile of Aiko's clothes and her boots haphazardly strewn underneath.
"Aiko?"
The little girl hiccuped in reply, the sleeves of her top comically large on her slender arms. It was Aiko's top, and this small little thing wore it like a dress.
"Da!"
The girl, no, his Aiko threw herself into his lap and clung to the fabric of his tunic. Kalle wrapped his arms around her and cradled her close, relief replacing the guilt with the silent shed of his tears.
~~
Am I doing a regression fic? You bet your sweet bipbies I am. I have a need for small Aiko and dad Kalle and I will not be denied!
