It seems like that we had started a trend of not forgiving the abuser and murderer of your loved one during victim impact statements at sentencing.

It is okay to don't forgive their abuser and killer

People get mad at us for not forgiving the monster who had taken your loved one's life away and destroyed your life.

I don't have any compassion for him that he didn't show any compassion towards my sister when he had beaten her, shot her in the head and left her laying there to die.

Forgiving is giving him a pass.

            yes  ,  but that would add to her karmic debt and right now  ,  she's trying to clear that so she can finally go into the afterlife and enter the cycles of reincarnation  .  she won't KILL unless given explicit orders  ,  killings she deals in the name of the higher court will allow her to halve the amount of debt she'd incur . . . yes  ,  she'll still incur karmic debt for killing  ,  but not as much as she does it for the greater good  .

            five . . . including the leader of the gisaeng . . . she didn't do it spontaneously  ,  in a fit of rage  ,  but rather planned for it  ,  albeit she didn't plan to cover it  ,  she had planned to DIE anyways  ―  murder suicide sorta thing . . . as for the haengsu gisaeng . . . she just straight up stabbed that old bat  .  many had the misconception that she did it in a fit of rage  ,  but in truth  ,  that wasn't it  .  she took her time to plan out what to do and when to do it  .

can haewon kill / execute gods as the preserver of the divine  ??

            no  .  even if she was given the ability to  , she can't due to her debt  .  her job is mostly to mete out judgement and deal punishment as seen fit by a higher being  .  while a lot of deities and supernatural divines see her as judge  ,  jury  ,  and executioner  ,  in truth . . . she most the executioner  .  she CANNOT kill unless given permission  ,  and she's unlikely to take a life unless she's given clear instructions to do so  ,  which means she's acting in the name of the higher court so her actions are justified  .             she can kill a god . . . she won't  .  if she does  ,  she'd have to justify her actions for dealing the HARSHEST punishment that could be dealt  .  to kill a god means to remove them from existence and that is a dangerous act as it could disturb the balance in the world  .  for the most part  ,  haewon can rescind a god's divinity  (  ie.  take away their powers  )  and turn them over to the higher court for the court to decide the criminal's final fate  .

can haewon mete out these judgement and punishments to humans  ??

            yes  .  but only if the humans had a hand in dealings with the divine or dabbled in things they shouldn't  ―  think like making deals with the devil to wreak havoc in the human world or releasing the seal on a calamity deity despite being warned not to  ,  tampering with someone else's fate  .  mostly consists of cursing the humans or saddling them with misfortune / bad luck  .  she cannot interfere unless the divine is invovled  .

can haewon beat people up  ??

            yes  .  be it human or supernatural or divine  ,  haewon can beat them up . . . with or without reason  ,  though she does try to find some strange / lame JUSTIFICATION to lift her hand . . . just in case it gets turned on her that she can defend her case for smacking someone  .

how does haewon know martial arts / combat abilities  ??

            she did have some knowledge of combat  .  most gisaeng were trained in the arts and educated  ,  meant to be a companion / wives for government officials but mostly  ,  retired soldiers  .  haewon's station was near a military camp  ,  she was exposed to combat and though  ,  as a woman  ,  wielding a sword is not something she's supposed to do  ―  sword dancing is a part of her entertainment  .             she lacked refinement  ,  and proper skill . . . to be able to wield blades and engage in combat was something she was provided with after officially accepting her role and title  ,  she learned through both training and through life experience  .

can haewon die  ??

            yes and no  .  yes because she's immortal  ,  it doesn't mean she's death defying . . . she's not completely invulnerable to being stabbed  ,  shot  ,  beaten to death and so forth . . . but no  ,  because due to her  ❛  contract  ❜   with the higher court of the divine  ,  she's meant to reincarnate EACH TIME she dies and it will continue until she works off her debt  .  she will REMEMBER each time she dies  ,  it doesn't make it any easier and her soul gets more and more damaged each time . . . but the gods don't care  ,  they only care that she gets the job done  .

            simple  .  she's already finished paying off her karmic debt a long time ago  .  the higher court just didn't say anything  .  they continued to pretend that haewon is still in debt  ,  not allowing her soul to peacefully enter the afterlife  .  they've been LYING to her for centuries and they don't intend to ever let haewon go  .  she's good at what she does and they need someone who'd be willing to do their dirty work and haewon just so happened to land in their lap  ,  so why let her go  ??

is haewon CLOSE to any deities  ??  does she have friends  ??

            friends are hard to come by when she's meant to regulate and oversee behavior and enforce the divine rules  .  people tend to AVOID her for fear of garnering her ire  ;  there are people who approach her with hopes of leniency  ,  so most people only befriend her with an ulterior motive  .              there is ONE she is familiar with and probably doesn't dislike  ,  and that's HUIYING  ,  the death guide  .  haewon gets along just fine with that woman  ,  probably because huiying hasn't treated like a monster nor treated her with disrespect  .  she doesn't see huiying often nor does she actively seek out the immortal  ,  she only sees the woman when she  ❛  dies  ❜  .

Yo, dissociation here from the pits of hell known as Russia in the current political situation!✌🏻 Honestly I knew they say that the brain is adaptable, but I didn't know it was to this extent. Essentially, the crisis is still in full swing - also I think there has been a lot of messaging in most of the big very advertised films that have come out in the past..... Fiveish years? which can be summarised with "trust the government and sit on your asses while taking any hardship it causes, also fight for the behalf of your country for essentially nothing, just because we told you to", which makes me wonder if it is a P*tin propaganda thing or a this entire "operation" has been planned for a long time - but at this point I have just accepted the situation and am vibing. I have my first exam in a week, and at this point every day someone in my circle has a panic attack about failing. I look at it this way: either I do well and get into a in the capital for free (oh also they screwed over EVERYONE applying for uni and now like 20% of the free seats are inaccessible and now I want to 1917 these bitches even more (for "I don't want to go to prison" reasons this is a joke)), or I do poorly and get into uni in another city while getting to ditch my abusive family early. Any words of encouragement before my final school exams?

And besides that, we have to deal with organising a concert for the school (a DAY before my first exam!!) and rehearse the waltz for the ceremony and dancing in heels is such shit, you won't believe it, if you have the opportunity to dance in heels DON'T TAKE IT it's horrible.

On another note, there has been a rift in tantrum land today: my brother and mother had an argument that got so violent and heated I thought they would kill each other over the whole... War thing. And believe me, a confrontation between a die-hard loyalist who believes that everything is fine and a person who looks at any sources other than government propaganda is a very explosive thing. My brother literally threatened to write a thing to the government that would send my mother in jail! Now, both of their opinions are shit, but that is a new low, even for them. I didn't even think there was a low to sink to, we're well pass the "Having threatened to murder family members multiple times" low and that is already six feet underground! Gods, I'm going to need so much therapy when I get out.

Good thing is I used that to get out of her bad graces - because this morning I dared to.... Go and eat breakfast in my room. No, literally, she went and threw a tantrum because of that. What the fuck. How am I, a wreck under an extreme amount of stress with a schedule more hectic that a doctor's (I'm still going to med school btw, even with the possible risk of getting drafted, because I didn't fight my entire abusive family on it for nothing) and with a fucking van of trauma I drag behind me daily more stable than these two fucks! Seriously, they act like emotionally stunted five year old and I am tired of it>:(

Your brother and mother sound horrible to live with, it's no wonder you're tired of it :( I hope you can go go uni and get away from there soon. They sound so volatile and violent, and it's no wonder you carry so much trauma around, between them and your country's political situation/queerphobia (plus the pandemic... Ugh). I really hope you can get therapy to help you handle this all in the future, and that you find away to leave the country safely and live somewhere where you feel safe enough to heal.

            it's funny to haewon that she had once wished for a normal life . . . to have a family  .  a husband that doted on her  ,  children of her own  ,  a place to call home . . . she held onto that dream even when she was sold into the profession of being a gisaeng as it was entirely possible for her to still fulfill her dreams when she marries a military official . . . even when times were bleak  ,  she can see the other girls breaking down and slowly losing light  ,  haewon still held that hope of marrying a good husband  ,  having a home and settling down with kids of her own . . .             that dream shattered when she committed the crime of murdering the men who assaulted her and the lead gisaeng that allowed it to happen  .  never living to the prime of her age  ,  haewon's dreams died at the age of TWENTY — NINE when she was executed for her crimes . . .              when she became the divine punisher  ,  that dream never resurfaced as she lived in a personal hell of torture and meaningless days . . . it became a dream she forgot she had  .  sure  ,  it does resurface when she rest  ,  but even the thought of that was TORTURE as it was torn from her  .
