Basic protocol and etiquette for women in different social settings can help create a polished and confident impression.

General Public Etiquette:

-  Posture & Poise – Stand and sit with good posture; avoid slouching. -  Politeness – Use "please," "thank you," and "excuse me" appropriately. -  Voice Tone – Speak clearly, without being too loud or aggressive. -  Personal Space – Respect others’ space; avoid excessive physical contact unless appropriate. -  Kindness & Grace – Smile often, be courteous, and avoid gossip.

Dining & Lunch Etiquette:

-  Seating – Wait for the host or an elder to be seated first (if formal). -  Napkin Use – Place your napkin on your lap once seated; use it discreetly. -  Eating Pace – Eat at a moderate pace, not too fast or too slow. -  Utensil Use – Work from the outside in (if formal setting). -  No Elbows on the Table – Keep your hands resting gently when not using utensils. -  Chew Quietly – Avoid talking with your mouth full or making noises while eating. -  Excusing Yourself – Say, “Excuse me” if you need to leave the table. -  Phone Etiquette – Keep your phone on silent and avoid checking it constantly.

Social Gatherings & Events:

-  Dress Accordingly – Follow the dress code (casual, business, formal). -  Greetings – Offer a handshake or a light cheek kiss, depending on the culture. -  Introducing Yourself – Say your name with a warm smile and eye contact. -  Engaging in Conversation – Listen actively and show interest in others. -  Avoid Controversial Topics – Steer clear of politics, religion, and personal finances in casual settings.

Workplace & Business Etiquette:

-  Professional Attire – Dress appropriately for the industry. -  Confidence & Courtesy – Speak with clarity and respect colleagues' opinions. -  Emails & Communication – Use polite and professional language in emails and messages. -  Meetings – Be punctual, take notes, and contribute appropriately. -  Respect Boundaries – Maintain professional relationships and avoid oversharing personal details.

For whatever propaganda US citizens will be subjected to, just so you know we as the world will see it and probably also be influenced by it. But we can also act on it. If your national media are not too much influenced, if you have accurate history lessons, if you accurate social studies you can share it, if you can offer safe talk space without endearing yourself, if you can relay people's stories for awareness, it will help people. This doesn't only stand for US citizens. And remember that European media, whatever they tell, also participate in propaganda just at a lesser scale. If you want to have a good media coverage, you need to read right and left oriented media at the same time, but to avoid the extreme one. Also do not speak of a subject before checking informations. Go read outside of internet. Protect people, help people. Fight misinformation. Take care of yourself.

If by some miracle sweet potato Hitler doesn't win come the end of the week, this won't be necessary, but should he win here are some of the first things to be aware of or do.

If you know a trans person, no you don't. Respect them as best you can in private but you know nothing in public.

Be aware that TikTok will likely be banned, find new platforms to spread information. Fuck Twitter and what ever tiktok replacement he's working on.

Learn to Garden, even in winter so you can feed yourself should prices skyrocket

Get an air purifier. The Clean Air Act is likely to be stripped of its power with the EPA deregulated, air quality is going to suffer

Should you have kids, try to supplement history/social studies education. That's the first place they will attack, if you need help ask, history teacher will help

Try and do what you can to be aware of your health before January.

Help one another. That's the best way we can move forward and make change in the future.

I'm wondering if, as a society who cares about vulnerable people, we could stop saying "traumatize" when we truly mean "upset"?

I am sick of hearing sad books or movies "traumatize" their readers. I simply do not believe that happens. A traumatic experience might be adjacent to books (I have vivid memories of books I was reading around certain experiences and even how the contents of those books affected my processing of the experiences). But it's not caused by the book. And, y'know. The weather is Christofascist Censorship Attempts outside.

Meanwhile from the other side I continue to be surprised at just how badly people fail to understand trauma and traumatic experiences in general. Watering down the term isn't helping. Find other hyperbole to express that The Bridge to Terebithia gutted you, chewed on your heartstrings, and made you cry your first pair of contact lenses right out of your preteen eyes.

God, I just know that the family hates playing Scrabble with Jason, because they agree being casual and not search for unusable words through dictionaries intentionally - side eye at Tim, who prior the Scrabble night learned by heart the whole dictionary and spluttered words the next day without even remembering their meaning just because he wanted to win - and then they forget that Jason is English & Literary major. there's something so deeply dystopian to me how tech companies don't understand that a forced convenience is not a convenience at all. i'm sure autocorrect is helpful for many, but a function that forcibly changes my actual written words and punctuation is taking away my language. photo filters can be nice but i need to choose using them myself or else i have lost the ability to take the picture i want. i don't want a machine to draw or write for me. taking away the option for me to do things manually feels like violence!!!! all this talk of endless opportunity, why are you RESTRICTING me
