The general idea is that the AU follows a similar story structure to Cuphead, but the lore is similar to Gravity Falls. There's just one key difference: everyone can see and interact with Bill. He just can't really interact with our world. Yet.
Bill is a projection, brought forth by Gideon Gleeful. He would allow Bill free presence, and in return, Bill basically made him famous, AND his Earthen right-hand. So he takes the place of King Dice.
From there, the history is almost the same as GF. Ford came here to investigate anomalies, found Gravity Falls, met Bill, and started building a portal. The possession came with a different cost this time, though; Ford's soul. Bill promised he'd be in good hands and that it's just kinda part of the gig, but because of this, Bill's ability to possess him never left.
Once Ford got the metal plate installed, Bill was limited, sure, but he still had control of the soul contract, meaning he could basically just. Force Ford to do shit. The main limiting factor here is that he has to know where Ford is and has to be able to see him. If he can't see him, he can't control him. Once Ford is in the multiverse, this is the main reason Bill can't get him. He doesn't know where Ford is.
The main story is just everyone in Gravity Falls making really really stupid mistakes. The only person who has not fallen for Bill's games is Stan, who- like Elder Kettle- tried to warn the twins about making bad deals, but ultimately this fell through when they got curious and visited Gideon's tent, where Bill was also observing.
In my interpretation of this AU, Pacifica takes the place of Ms Chalice. She's hurt and alone, and her dad made a deal with Cipher that resulted in. this. I like to think it was a Monkey's Paw type scenario, but my brain is an egg so I'll figure that one out later. Basically Pacifica wants her body back (ghost rules the same as the DLC), so she decides to help Dipper and Mabel under the belief that they can assist her once Bill is defeated.
However, this falls through. However the deal worked, it persists, and Pacifica starts to wonder if she'll always be a ghost. But that's where Ford comes in.
Ford, taking the place of Saltbaker (kinda? kinda.), offers to try and help her restore her physical form. Call in the twins and let's be off let's go. He says he needs to build a machine that could potentially reverse the effects permanently, and he needs parts. So that's what the twins are doing. The cookie is replaced with an astro-physical restorative remote, but a really, really weak one, and it requires a host to work, keeping the idea that one of them will always be a ghost until the machine is done.
The only problem with this plan is that Ford's contract with Bill is not up, and was not destroyed by Dipper and Mabel, and Bill can see him now. So. In short, that ain't Ford.
The parts the kids were gathering were for the portal.
Once they figure that out, we get a Baking the Wondertart equivalent, Bill is defeated, and in doing so, Ford is freed of the contract as well, meaning Bill can't mess with him anymore.
Not sure if Bill lives all the way to the end of this story, but there is a good chance unless I figure out how to kill him, seeing as Weirdmageddon probably doesn't happen here.
Gotta think on it more, but that's the basic idea. First draft. All of this is subject to change hdfsdfjh
i think you should totally drop whatever hc/ideas you have lying around honestly...i would love to see more into ur brain...pls <33
:DD
Hi!!!! Sorry this is a little late, I got so distracted with an animatic im working on(😈) and then a stupid essay😭😭 being honest rn... Almost all of what I've been thinking about is my fic.. 😔
But!! I can still go a little into that without spoilers. I've finally figured out The Perfect ending for this story that I feel fits with the overarching themes I wanted to tell. I've been making sure that every little detail fits with the themes I wanted to show, I wanted it to overlap Regulus and barty's characters and their overarching themes with PD. I also didn't want to just replicate PD cause I feel like that doesnt have the depth or commentary I want to out into it. Idk ive always thought it's super fun to put everything as some sort of symbol or metaphor or foreshadowing. I'm like literally so close to being done drafting and then I can actually talk about it a little more😭
Anyways! I've also been thinking about barty post regs death 😔(when am I not) But more specifically how every memory he had would almost be tainted, everything now would have an air of questioning and unsureness. Even memories where Regulus isn't there, just wondering where was he? What was he thinking? Am I remembering this right? What could've I changed? What was the domino that caused all of this to happen? Eventually finding it hard to accept the way it really was, having the "I guess it was" and feeling it, but overintellectualizing it. His logic and reasoning is his downfall in this situation, that's what makes him go crazy. (Side note I NEED to make a little post about his intersection between intelligence and madness) Hes doing a complicated version of when there's a task that seems so simple that you think it's a trick, but it's not, it's just that. What happened with Regulus was just that.
Also, I've recently self reflected and realized that a lot of my barty characterization is similar to how I think of Leonard Cohen's art(who I LOVE LOVE LOVE) Idk if you've listened to him or read any of his work, but I HIGHLY suggest it, it's perfect for fall. Anyways, a lot of his songs and poems carry themes of having a twisted self image, not completely self deprication though it may seem, but something else. It's closer to understanding and knowing that you are. Different. And unconventional. It's an uncomfortablility he has with himself. Being soemthig twisted from what you should've been. A lot of his stuff is also to do with tragically losing someone, out of their own choice, and still feeling very loyal yet bitter. Also of loving something so much that it turns dark, or it goes too quick, it spirals. Also his love songs are very barty's perspective on bartylus to me. And like, obvious war mentions. I could give some specific recs similar to barty or them if you'd like.
Another thing is of Regulus and his relationship with his dad. Though I see it completely reasonable if his dad was just kind of, not there and neglectful, it could give very interesting implications to his character, I like it the other way around. Orion seeing what a more carefree attempt at raising a child does and keeping Regulus even closer than he did before. I think Orion always liked Regulus more, despite him being the second, because he was a model son. I don't think he wanted this life or even to have kids, so Regulus being so complacent and in line with what he was supposed to be as a pure blood made him the decided favourite(as much as he could have one). He was always keeping a close eye on Regulus and he could feel it, but he didn't do anything out of place anyways. Orion could tell when he was even thinking something he wasn't supposed to. I believe that, no matter how much she tried, walpurga was too caught in her own head about her duty as a mother to see S+R as anything other than Her Kids, as property that she was supposed to care for and tend to, she obviously loved them, but couldn't see through them. But Orion was there around every corner looking through regulus' eyes into his soul to search for any thing out of his perfect kid.
Anyways.... That's all I can think of rn😭 but if you have questions about ANY of them lmk!!! I love yapping about my little thoughts 😁😁
you know those posts where cap’s seen as a dad figure? what if one of the reasons why the other superheroes think that way is because when league members bring up there kids or need cap to cover for them when their kids need them cap is just super understanding, empathetic and gets oddly proud of them for being with there for their kids
the actual reason why he’s like that is because billy just really values those things as an orphan and is proud to work with such great people
Whenever someone mentions or even breathes the implication of Cap being mistaken as a dad or seen as a father figure, I lose my marbles, because, oh cheese and crackers, I just can't express enough how much I adore this headcanon! I'm doin' a little happy dance :D
Billy Batson is someone who has always yearned and wished to be a part of a family again since his experience was cut short due to tragedy and made sour thanks to his uncle Ebeneezer being crusty dusty, so it's easy to see him respecting those who appreciate the family they have. He had to grow up and mature far faster than any kid his age, and compared to most adults, Billy is actually more mature and responsible than they are, unfortunately. It's reasonable to see that this would be reflected in Captain Marvel; someone who's immature at times, but ultimately a good-natured person with a golden heart and good intentions, who others can depend on anytime and anywhere (much to the sacrifice of his personal life).
Billy has been in enough foster homes at a young age to know the difference between a good parent and a rotten one, so seeing members of the league prioritize their family members and kids would make him really happy. He's the type to take on any shift or mission in the place of another member if they had something important to do with their family. What you said about him being very proud and empathetic towards parents in the league made me realize that Billy would have loved to have parents like them had his own not perished. In a way, he's not just proud of them, but a little bit envious.
This also brings up another headcanon of mine, where Captain Marvel is the unofficial designated babysitter of the league when emergencies come up. Because despite not knowing who he is/his secret identity, people trust him enough to let him know theirs. Like, it all starts with the Captain in the watchtower break room drinking apple juice, and is suddenly bombarded with a group of children or sidekicks being thrown at him by the other heroes, saying that the Captain was in charge while they were away before teleporting away.
All these kids and teenagers that he suddenly has to help look after, and while Captain Marvel is calm on the outside, Billy Batson is freaking out on the inside. Some of those kids are older than he is, and there's some hilarity to it. Shenanigans ensue in the Captain Marvel: Adventures in Babysitting day, but it all turns out okay in the end. As a kid, Billy would know how to talk to them and keep them busy with fun/educational stuff. Might even teach them a thing or two about good morals, manners, archeology, or ancient magic stuff.
I imagine some of those kids would want to be babysat by him again, and Billy would welcome it (with warning ahead of time). Captain Marvel is just someone people like being around with his good dad vibes. Some of them even ask if he has kids of his own, but are met with an empty room immediately as the man zooms off whenever people ask him questions about family.
watching a tv-show that’s done in my country and fuck it’s got me sobbing. Forgot how much more things hit when it’s like in your culture & language; every american tv-show has that distance bc can relate like maybe 50%. So idk, if you’re in need of a good cry; watch something sad that’s from your country, it hits where it hurts so much better !!
Please can I have every dad! Jonathan headcanon you have 🥺 What is he like when the baby gets sick for the first time, takes their first steps, experiences water in the bath for the first time? Experiences snow for the first time? What does he do when the baby gets hurt for the first time? What is he like when they’re a newborn? Does he use baby talk or no? Does he play music? Does the baby make him cry? What would he do if the baby lost their favorite stuffed animal? Does he ever get jealous if the baby reaches for Nancy when he’s holding them? Does Nancy get jealous when the baby reaches for him and does he love it? Is he overprotective of his baby? Does he let anyone hold them or does he hesitate when family members start reaching for his baby? What are family gatherings/holidays like? Does he use his baby as an excuse to avoid social interaction? How lenient of a dad is he? Does he want her crawling around freely or does he nervously carry her around and not want her to explore? I want everything. All the fluff please all of it I had a bad day!!
SAY LESS ANON, WE'RE ABOUT TO TURN YOU DAY AROUND (hopefully)
I think he def knew he wanted kids before Nancy did but he was very patient about it and they have a lot of talks about it (I personally headcanon that they get married november 1990 and don't have their first kid until September/October 1997 because they spend their 20s getting established in their careers)
Then one random sunday they're sitting in the park and she points at some kids and is like "I want one"
I just know that man is SO EXCITED when Nancy tells him she's pregnant and then he checks out every baby book at the library.
I've said it before but I'll say it again, to me Jonathan Byers is a certified girl dad. Tea parties, ballet recitals, fashion shows, barbies my man is down for it all.
Then he does the whole nursery and has Will paint the characters from bambi (the nursery is bambi themed I'll die on that hill)
I don't think he uses baby talk but he does use the SOFTEST voice in the world when talking to her
And I def think that Nancy is like "music is good for the baby" during pregnancy and Jonathan switches it to a mixtape of Talking Heads once Nancy falls asleep
As a consequence, sometimes the only thing that calms the baby down is Remain in Light or Speaking in Tongues (which confuses the fuck out of Nancy) (it's also important to note that Mike is like wtf is wrong with this kid to Will because of this)
I LOVE Jonathan but I think he is like the biggest worry wart of a parent (bc he doesn't want to be a bad one) so when the baby gets sick for the first time he thinks it's somehow his fault. And Nancy has Joyce (and Hopper) call him and reassure him that he's doing great
I don't think either of them get jealous per se but Nancy definitely teases him because their daughter is such a Daddy's girl
That being said when Jonathan catches Nancy & the baby having a moment he gets all choked up and sniffly because he loves them both so much and never thought this would be his life.
Also that man 100% uses the baby as an excuse to not interact with other's he's just like oh she's fussy I better take her and then they disappear for hours on end until Nancy finds him in the rocking chair with the baby fully asleep on his chest.
I think because she's the first grandbaby anytime they're with The Wheelers & the Byers, like at Christmas, she gets passed around all night and Jonathan has to struggle to keep track. Because Nancy is always like where the fuck is my baby when she's out of her sight.
(Nancy is def a mama bear but I didn't tell you that)
He goes above and beyond babyproofing the house when she starts crawling and he's determined to catch her first steps on film so there's just a TON of tapes of baby girl just sitting there
I think Mike def nearly dropped his niece on like day 2 and was not allowed to hold her until she could fully support her head. And even Jonathan limits Mike's baby time.
Her first word is dada and he SOBS
Jonathan's def a "it's all going by too fast" kind of parent and also cries when she starts daycare.
Nancy takes up scrapbooking because Jonathan takes way too many pictures of their kids. And their bookshelves are filled with.
Of course he keeps a picture of Nancy and the baby in his wallet.
Do you have any lucemond fics Planned for when LSTS is over or is close to finishing?
oh so many!! for the lsts-verse i'll probably have a compilation of sorts added to the series in a few chapters or so, of deleted scenes and flashbacks that aren't making it in
and maybe i'll actually post some of my luke-gets-warded-to-kings-landing, slowburn/fix it, enemies to childhood friends to lovers au that was being plotted long before lsts ever was, but has so many moving parts i've been hesitant to share lol :,) someday <3
honestly i have so many ideas it'll be hard to pick what to do next, i may start posting snippets here early just so it can all be archived somewhere even if they don't get full fics
One of the things I love about HTTYD is that Hiccup was raised by two men. Hiccup grew up watching his father be a person of the people. Figuring himself out along the way to what he becomes later in life. They didn't have the perfect relationship but they really dug their heels into the ground and found common ground and were repairing what had been broken over the years. And then there was Gobber who took him under his wing to learn his own independence from a young age. And turned him into well Hiccup. Sharp-tongued and sarcastic. Hiccup looks up to him and learns a lot from him. Not just his secrets to being a good smith but a strong sense of responsibility and a feeling of belonging too.
In the televised series which continues the movies story lines Gobber mentions how much Hiccup is his son as much as he is Stoick's and that just always sits in the back of my mind. Because Hiccup loves them both just as equally to the other. He's equally affectionate with both of them.
