Angels and Demons au

So, the poll won and now it's time to talk about the angel and demons au. So, our dumbass(/affectionate), accidentally stumbled(literally) onto a cursed artifact used to summon Demon!Moon. You, having no self-regard for your own personal safety and being highly curious, decide to research it and accidentally summon Moon. Moon is shocked because this tiny, small mortal summoned a dangerous and feared demon, like himself. He decides to keep you after a few days of just stalking you(Moon: I’ve only had Y/N for a few days, but if anything were to happen to them, I would kill everyone in this realm, and then myself). Moon is actually pretty careful at not being caught by Angel!Sun, but still gets caught anyway. So, Sun comes and just sees this small mortal just hanging out with Moon, as if he isn’t some kind of feared demon. This causes Sun to stay just to make sure Moon doesn’t do anything. Y/N, completely oblivious about Moon and Sun actually being powerful supernatural deities, just treats them like normal people, and it causes both of them to freak out at first, before realizing, ‘oh hey, we like being treated like normal people and not eldritch deities’. Sun and Moon then fight in the background because they just kinda realized one day that you're a cinnamon roll. Sun then decides to give you a sun-shaped earring as a protection charm and totally not a courting gift- Moon does the same thing, but with a moon charm on a bracelet to summon him(he also uses it as a camera to spy on you, but shhh-). They do leave eventually, but do leave a note explaining that they had to go back ‘home’. You just accept this and a few months go by, and suddenly sun and moon shaped gifts just start, appearing, on your doorstep…as well as those nightly terrors of an biblically accurate angel that looks like Sun and a terrifying demon that looks like Moon, just fighting it out and screaming at each other. Do y’all want to hear more, or would you like designs of them?

Anyways we will be looking over something populer, and only a few images this time. I want this to be a nice slide back into the mix while I get ready to boil myself alive by reading shitty isekais.

Normally an isekai requires some form of passage into another world through death, but again, we are going to consider any and all portal fantasies to be on-par with isekais. as death and jumping through a funky portal are really kinda the same thing if you think about it.

so! plot synopsis, we open on the titular character iruma! they are being sold to a demon, don't worry this action will be the literal best thing that has ever happened to them. Also, added treat, slavery is not a running theme in this manga! HURRAY! WE HAVE FOUND OVERCOME THE BARE FUCKING MINIMUM! HUZZAH FOR MEDIOCRITY! MY DESIRE TO RUN MY HEAD THROUGH A ARC OF GONGS UNTIL THE SOUND WAVES LIQUIDATE MY BRAIN MATTER HAS LESSENED!

anyways we get to know some important plot points between the buyer and the product! (our mc)

iruma is a 14 year old yes man. They say yes to everything, even yes to the idea of breaking child labor laws! as their parents are frivolous unimportant freaks that spend way too much money then bolt, leaving him to work off the debt. Anyways, that's how this happened. they wanted dosh, and our buyer, we will call him grandpa!

Why is he so interested in buying a child? simple! He is rich and wants to have a grandson, unfortunately, he does not have a dick due to war injuries... ok thats a lie, he just wants a grand kid.

Anyways this is a very interesting title in the fact that it is still in a way, a power fantasy, but the power in that fantasy is separated towards other things.

It is a story in which you have the power to be helped. The adults in this manga are actual competent adults, they are there for the protection of the children, they are there to guide, nurture, train and help them grow. Despite differences or annoyances some may have, those are secondary to the ferocity they show when it comes to ensuring the protection of their students.

Iruma does have a lot of “i am the chosen one” but it is not something that automatically aids him in most situations, in fact it is the triad of facts of “I am a human”, “I want to help”, “I am determined” that allow him to rise both in power and social standing. The might makes right idealism of the underworld forced to reckon with people that stop to drag someone across the finish line. 

As for the plot, it goes along a few separate arcs; there is a very clear progression of time as Iruma gets older. Mostly split into two parts. Irumas social life, in which we get to see him become better and better friends with the students and faculty at this school. Showing both the give and take as they both show how far they are willing to go for each other. 

The second half is the mystery and political intrigue of the demonic society at large. The idea of a demon king has gone missing, disciples of which are eager to try and resurrect him as they see no one who is more suitable for the role, opposing forces trying to groom the top students at various schools into the role of king in a contest of disciples. 

I think you should give it a read, its cute, the designs are fun and the power system while simple is still enough to give the action that is there a lot of meat. It's also satisfying thing to read if you just got done with a shounen and you are wondering “where the fuck are the adults? Why are these children doing everything?”

Draw backs. Not a lot but some of the students are essentially drawn as adults and there are parts where you will feel slightly skived out by.

And the show just skips over omegas which okay I guess I'll do it myself.

What if we don't see many Omega children/adults in Tony's circle is they as individuals sell fast, even more so the special ones (maybe special omegas or Omega's in general happen less often that alphas?) And yes they can produce a child easier than alphaxenigma but that makes the child less 'valuable' on the black market.

But Tony makes good money from sell the Omega's virginity, from the 'right' to breed one of his collection.

Soon after taking in Jeff, Tony thinks that's gonna be a money maker for sure. He pairs him with Charlie (hoping for the older alpha to kinda imprint on the younger, be willing to guard Jeff with his life) Tony's already got buyers lined up for the server but when Charlie runs he takes Jeff because well Tony's imprint planed a little too well.

Of course Jeff knew that's what Tony had planned, that his body wasnt his. So he abuses suppressants (when I would build omega verse normally suppressants are only used for emergencies like sudden heats/ruts or to prevent heat/rut sickness they aren't designed to be taken like birth control) it keeps him from going into heat after his first one. (Not really a presentation as I use intersex M!Omega and F! alpha's so those are present at birth) but it doesn't hide his scent.

Alan figures it out fairly quickly and is like "I'm not gonna tell you what to do with you body but doing this could really mess up. "

"my fertility I'm aware."

"I mean yeah but I'm more worried about the kidney and heart damage and the mental health issues than the fertility thing."

So he and Alan start there relationship and how amazing that Jeff got to *chose*. Maybe he didn't take the suppressants for a bit becuase he finally feels a little bit safe.

But Tony is a dick and already sold Jeff so even before the full auction (he was decided the best way to control Jeff is to sell him off permanently overseas maybe) he allows the Alpha that Jeffs virginity was originally sold to have him. Even when Kenta points out that Jeff smells like Alan in a way that means they had sex recently.

Tony's like "She (the alpha) does t have to know that and who knows the smell might whip her into a rut, she'll pay more if the brat gets pregnant."

(this female alpha is probably gonna be the villain in a full fic if I write one.)

Cue after care when Alan and Jeff get to the apartment, maybe Jeff doesn't tell him even if Alan's nose tells him something happened Jeff is like "oh it was just buyers assessing me. Nothing was gonna happen till I was sold. " So calm it kinda freaks Alan out and he's like you can cry that was traumatic it's okay to break I'm here to hold you.

They talk it out get that comfort we want from whump and scene.

To say you were nervous was an understatement. The first official day on the job is nerve wracking enough, but having your first day be opening night for the Harry Styles's opening show of his first solo tour. You were about to pass out.

5 months ago you received an email from Jeff asking if you would be willing to join Harry on tour.

You didn’t think it was real art first. Maybe a scam or something. Turns out it wasn’t. Apparently Jeff was asking around for good techs, and your boss had recommended you. After freaking out with your roommate, you eagerly responded with yes and a few phone calls later you were all set to start packing and jet off to California for tour rehearsals.

“10 minutes to show”

You start gathering your stuff and head closer to the stager to do a last minute check in with the band. Heading towards them you make sure everyone's mic packs are attached securely and their in-ears are in place along with some nerve soothing as well on everyone’s parts.

“5 minutes to show. Band stand by to enter”

Finishing up your conversation with Sarah, you head over to where Harry's hanging out with Jeff in the corner. The former seems more nervous than before, especially now that show time is a lot closer. You just manage to catch the tail end of his and Jeff's conversation

Looking significantly paler, you hand Harry his mic pack and in-ears and help him put them on.

“Hey look at me,” you say, “you have nothing to be worried about. You hear all of those screams? They’re all for you. You don't have to freak out and think that all of your fans were there for the rest of the boys. THEY. ARE. HERE. FOR. YOU. Now get out there and do the same thing you’ve been doing for the past 7 years.

“Thank you” he says, and you can barely hear him over the increasing screams and the faint intro of Only Angel.

“You know you’re kinda good at this pep talk thing.” Jeff comments.

“Well, it was an altered version of the one I give myself.” you reply shrugging, “Besides it gives you a reason to keep me around should he fail tonight.”

“Speaking of which, aren't you supposed to be making sure he doesn't fail tonight?”

“Oh I’m on instruments tonight, so I have some time.”

Actually meeting Harry and the rest of the band wasn’t as nerve wracking as you had anticipated. Sure Mitch kept turning around to look at Sarah and getting caught in wires, but you thought it was cute so you didn’t care. You had a feeling Harry kept messing up just so Mitch would have another excuse to look at Sarah.

One thing you didn’t anticipate was taking that time to look at Harry. With you being designated with mostly his instruments and mic packs you spent a lot of time with him.

Like A Lot.

More so than was probably acceptable for someone that was just a techie. Getting to know Harry was probably your favourite thing so far and you didn't want to mess that up and you had a feeling he didn’t either.

Hello there, Anon! I love the questions you had asked me, and it took me a while to figure them all out, but I wrote them down as I thought, so they may be a but lengthy. Anyways, I hope I answered your questions good!

Okay, so I have quite a few favorites within both fandoms, so I'll seperate them based on species/dorm!

Twisted Wonderland

Heartslabyul: Riddle Rosehearts ~ His character is super adorable with how his face gets red when he gets mad, and I find his constant need to follow the rules funny. It's not like the Queen of Hearts is gonna kill you, she's basically dead anyways! Savanaclaw: Jack Howl ~ He's just adorable, and he reminds me of my male best friend because he's quite defensive about his reputation, but with people he cares about, he's awesome! Octavinelle: Azul Ashengrotto ~ Azul is one of my favorite characters in general because of how smart, yet sensitive he can be. Like when he had overblotted because of MC and the others tearing up his contracts he worked hard on, it's understandable and relatable. Also, his fear of his weight makes me pity him as a chubby person myself, but I love the way he gains confidence! Scarabia: Jamil Viper ~ Jafar is one of my favorite characters in the whole Disney canon, so having Jamil as one of my favorites shouldn't be surprising. I love his design and I absolutely love his journey, he's good at cooking and he's amazingly loyal to his family and friends, he's husband material. Pomefiore: Rook Hunt ~ I love Vil, but Rook's character overall is so much fun to read and write for. I love his design to freaking much, like his hat, so cute, the fact that he came from Savanaclaw to Pomefiore, very unique and cool, I also adore his frenchness, it shows relation to the film's original location and written place. Ignihyde: Ortho & Idia ~ I couldn't choose between the two of them, their dynamic together is so fucking cute, like I can't. I also love introverts, I find them adorable, and having a very extroverted sibling just makes it extra cute!! Diasomnia: ALL FOUR ~ Like with the previous duo, I cannot choose between all three. I love Malleus, he's a very fun character, and with how oblivious and willing to learn he is, he's awesome. Lilia is just great, he's an amazing father to both Silver and Malleus, and the way he looks after Sebek like his own, cute!! Silver and Sebek are similar, adorable children that we must protect. Staff: Divus Crewel ~ All I have to say is: Monochrome King RSA: Che'nya ~ Personally, I love the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland (1951), he's just an amazing example of an anti-hero, and the way he teases Riddle and Trey just for laughs is super cute and shows how much he truly cares for the two as his friends.

Record of Ragnarok

Abrahamic Pantheon: Beelzebub ~ I prefer him over a lot of different Gods, so much so he's in my top 10 favorite characters throughout the whole fandom. But, I love how careful he is, he seems to care about others enough to where he tries protecting them from distancing himself, but that's also a flaw, otherwise, he's just a decent person in general, despite wanting Humanity's end. Buddhism Pantheon: Buddha ~ He's just so much fun. He loves to mess around and tease others, which is something I love to do, which kinda draws people towards me (I'm an unfortunate people-magnet), and I also love how he's so laid-back, you gotta love those chill peeps. Hindu Pantheon: Shiva ~ I love his love of the art-form dance. Dance is something that has a bunch of different forms, and the way that he just takes that passion and made it his own unique thing was inspiring! Greek Pantheon: Heracles / Apollo / Hades ~ I love all three of these guys, so it was hard to decide between them. Hades is a family man and cares for his brothers no matter what, Apollo is a decent person and doesn't judge for looks, but by personality, and Heracles is just an amazing example of the word 'hero'. Norse Pantheon: Thor ~ I just love his character in general, he seems to value his family and title, he even showed sympathy to killing Lü Bu, and I found that to be an amazing addition to showing the humanity in the Gods. I also adore his design, red is one of my favorite colors behind blue and black, so having long red hair? Yes. Human Fighters: ALL ~ No competition, they all rule. Lü Bu shows care for his army, Adam loves his 'children' despite their wrongdoings, Sasaki has a strong will of never giving up despite challenges, Jack will do seemingly anything to protect those he cares for, even if they don't care for him back, Raiden's care for Thrud was so heartwarming, he warned her to stop the Völundr to save her life, and (technically) Zerofuku, he's just a baby that was let down the wrong path, he needs guidance, and I believe that if he had the right teacher, his life would've been way better. Valkyries: Göll ~ She's just so god-foresakenly cute!! I feel like my heart's gonna explode everytime she looks concerned for both Humanity and the Gods fighting, she's so much more human with her emotions than other characters, it's amazing.

Their types all vary, but I'll probably make a list on each dorm/pantheon and their types later on because this is starting to get very lengthy and my hands are cramping badly, so to keep my hands in tact and this post short-er, I'll answer your final question.

I believe there should be more Male! Readers, as there are mostly either Female or Gender Neutral. Like males can read the GN, but like, pretty much all the Male! Readers I find are NSFW and not SFW. I believe there should be more of those, but like I said, GN does work relatively well.

Yo, hey, also, if you're an anxious and/or stressed LGBTQ+ person like myself, and like little games about tasks, like Stardew Valley or My Time at Portia or stuff like that, check out Hokko Life.

It's one of those cute little "do things" games, and there are some things about it that I really, really love:

In a lot of these games, there's a set town structure and cast of characters. In Hokko, there are some keystone elements. But each save file has a different "town area" map that you get to build and expand your little town into. There are two residents to begin with, other than you and the shopkeepers in the main town area (separate), and THOSE COULD BE DIFFERENT. From what I can tell, there are at least 4 possible starter residents, and you can get different combinations per save file.

The days are looooooooooong. This is different from Stardew, for example, where you can feel really pressed to "get everything done" in one day. In Hokko, you have PLENTY of time. And you have the option to take a li'l nap at your house if you want to, so you can skip 2 hours or 6 hours without losing the whole damn day. Or just...take a lil nap.

There are NO GENDER OPTIONS in character creator. You start with the same starter outfit, and have 100% of the starter customization options. Everyone calls you "they/them." A good number of the residents are "they/them." You are just...nonbinary/gender neutral/agender. Periodt.

You are the only humanoid. Everyone else is basically stuffed animals. The first folks you meet are a pink elephant who looks like she maybe has vitiligo and a giraffe with a general store who has extremely Dad Jokes Energy. There are all kinds of other interesting animal folks with different personalities. My game has a green emo/skater pig who seems like they might be a stoner and possibly vegan. Definitely cares about their carbon footprint.

Everything is SO CHILL. There's not really energy to manage or anything, you don't get hungry, you don't have to run around making sure you talk to everybody enough so you don't get less popular. Even if you fail a task for a resident...nothing bad happens. Or at least, that I can tell so far. Just like, whoops. Couldn't find that fish. Oh well. I can make you that paint, though. No worries. All good.

When you DO complete tasks, you get clothing items. And like...the first one I got was a "striped skirt" or something. And I was like, "Oh, that looks kinda-sorta-almost like a nonbinary pride flag. Cool." And then I got some yellow shoes, and a red jacket. And then a "Happy Knit Sweater," which was DEFINITELY ABSOLUTELY a trans pride flag pattern! And then a tee shirt with rainbow sleeves and a rainbow pocket? So like...THEY GIVE YOU LGBTQ+ PRIDE MERCH FOR YOUR LI'L NONBINARY PAL. And then I realized I very much had trans flag wallpaper in my house. 😂 I freaking love this.

You can MAKE YOUR OWN FURNITURE. There's a whole subset of customization and item creation where you can just...design your own furniture and decorative items from almost scratch. You unlock sets of shapes for the crafting & design table, and then you can go into a 3D design space and just...put some wooden spheres together however you want! Add a leaf shape! Put a brass "7" on it! Go crazy! And then you get to save your design and you can craft it again later if you want to make more, or sell them. It just...becomes an item in your game.

The music is super chill. Because of course.

The fishing system is good, for the way I like to play. It's very easy to see the fish, it's very easy to know when you need to "hook/catch," and following the system to reel in is easy to understand. It requires a little effort, it's not an auto-catch, but it's not stressful. It's a TASK, but not a HEADACHE. And you can do it without bait and still be fine.

There's a whole entire thing around catching butterflies. You can just frolic around all day in your pride-wear catching butterflies if you want. It's lovely.

You can save and exit at any point. SUPER IMPORTANT. Can't tell you how many times I've felt some stress about like, "AAAARRRGGGHHH, I have to get to a good spot to stop this Stardew day, or just start over again..." Nah. Hokko, you just hit escape, "Save & Exit." When you load up again, you'll be in your house, with the same stuff on hand/in your backpack.

I actually kinda also like that there doesn't seem to be a romance component? Like, that's neat and all when it is available, but I don't always want the townsfolk coming onto me just because I've given them sufficient eggs or whatever. I might have needed to do those quests to advance the plot, or get a new shovel or something. And maybe I'm not actually down to clown, homie.

Anyway, I'm thoroughly enjoying this game. Got it in the Steam Sale. I think it's not crazy expensive even regular price? My one issue that I'm running into is that the wiki for it is like...zero content. Or just not much in-depth stuff beyond the very bare basics for some of it. So when I want info or hit a snag, I been using Duck Duck Go on that biz, or hitting the Steam Forums. Not the worst thing in the world.

Backstory + main story: I was kidnapped as a baby by kamek because of my unnatural strength and slight mind powers (which have gotten stronger as I grew up). When I turned 6, Bowser taught me how to do villain shit (setting up traps, activing those traps, using my powers for evil, trying to find what I do best (power wise, which is mind powers and manipulation)). I went to a villain school for Bowser's most talented, yet under-developed crew members (even though he sees me as a daughter tbh) before the age of 15, where I was assigned to go to a 'hero' school to find out what the good guys are learning and how to counter act that. Idk what happens after that or during my young teen years because I wanna be taken by surprise.

How I view myself: I see myself neutrally, I sometimes get insecure but I always have Bowser, Bowser jr, and my friends to lift me up. And ofc, I get super confident in myself sometimes, usually because of my powers.

How other bad guys view me: They all have underestimated me at some point but I always prove them wrong by prolonging Mario's journey to saving Peach (unfortunately, he always saves Peach so that's the most I can do lol).

How the good guys see me: Since I'm a good manipulator and have mind powers, when they first meet me, they think I'm an innocent girl who also needs to get away from Bowser when I'm actually the opposite. I will just never trust people who are ignoring Will's characterization lol. ''He is straight passing'' bitch where? Will was the only party member who was singled out as being subjected to homophobic bullying, and I am sorry but Mike hasn't faced homophobia, homophobic bullying/abuse... which is why it is important to recognize because their narratives are different. It's such a pet peeve of mine because it is undermining the narrative of the characters and their differences. This, and that 'buff!Byers' headcanons... I dislike so much because Will is not supposed to be buff you guys just made it up in your heads and passing it is as canon. The reason why the constume department covered Noah's arms was because they do not envision Will to be 'buff' with strong arms. And while headcanons are nice and all, it is kinda getting weird here when they're presented as canon to characters' designs/characterization/personalities. Mike's supposed to be the 'straight passing guy' here that is why he's never seen as the 'Gay Guy' and never faced actual homophobic bullying or abuse, he is portrayed as the 'masculine' character and is given those traits that define him....... but for some reason Mike is the one who is headcanoned as the 'gnc' and 'most queercoded' character here in this fandom lmao

will was called homophobic slurs and assumed to be gay because he didn't behave or apparently dress like other boys did. he isn't like other people and that's okay. there's no shame in that. it isn't a bad thing, and yet so many people jump to "defend" him and make him into the kind of son lonnie would've loved to have, but that he ultimately just fucking isn't and never will be. the words that i put in quotation marks in my other post are THE DUFFERS' words. the person who said that they chose to lean away from noah's musculature was the COSTUME DESIGNER. i'd like to think that they know more about who will is than people online who would rather throw away entire seasons worth of scenes that clearly dispute their claims.

and i'm not talking about headcanons when i say this. i'm talking about people who genuinely believe their fanon interpretations, which are really just a role reversal if we're being completely honest with one another, to be true to canon.

not even robin faces on-screen homophobic vitriol from other characters, because she purposely "camouflages" herself better and that's how she survives. will does precisely what she says you can't do as a gay person in hawkins: draws too much attention, and thus makes himself a freak.

the irony of will is that even though he's good at hiding, this is something that he can't hide—something that others knew and vilified him for likely before he even knew himself. he never got to pass. his only choices were to survive and learn to find love and acceptance where he could.

this is already so long, but the differences between mike and will are the crux of their characters.

will has always been visibly different with no way of hiding it, even if he still desperately tries to, but he had a family that loved him and encouraged him to be himself no matter what. mike was fashioned to be the stereotypical eighties movie lead, was raised in a family where he was expected and hounded to be as normal as can be, and who is described as wanting to impress others and be as normal as possible.

will gets bullied for being a fairy and later a freak with issues after having come back to life. mike gets bullied for being a nerd, a "hellion", and a satanist. they have different issues, because they're different people.

will needs to learn that he can't hide from the world and call it a life, that he has to be brave and create a life that he can actually participate in and where he can allow himself to be loved for who he truly is. he tore down castle byers because he outgrew it. he needs to learn to live in this world and not the one he escapes to in his head. he needs to learn to allow himself to love and be loved, to be selfish, to be brave.

mike needs to learn that it's okay to be different. that conforming will not bring you peace, because that acceptance is no true acceptance—it's conditional, and you will never find any happiness or fulfillment in creating a farce of your own life. that he can have everything—money, material items, a girlfriend—and it won't be enough, because it isn't what he wants or comes natural to him. that he can't hold himself to society's rules for what a man should be, because society's rules fucking suck and they'll kill you either literally or spiritually. he's always celebrating everyone else's differences, defending them, and making others feel better for them, but he can't do the same with himself. he's the heart, but he needs to learn to listen to his own heart, too.

like. men in real life get called gay if they don't behave in a way that society deems to be masculine enough. men in real life get called gay if they're too nice or they dress a certain way. this is fucking real. traits, behaviors, interests, and material items are not inherently gendered, but we live in a society that suggests they are, and not sticking to what is "allowed" for your gender does come with consequences. that's just the way that the world works. i don't know why anyone pretends like that isn't so. things are better in certain places in the world, but we're not living in a utopia. be real.

but even then. that doesn't even totally matter, because we're just talking about the text here. will is the one that's faced all of that shit explicitly. the only time we've ever heard anyone say gay, or anything gay related, has been with him. mike defended him, yes, but those words were not about him.

mike defended will at cost of his own already pitiful social standing, because he's a good person and a wonderful friend. he couldn't stand to hear someone saying such vile things about someone that didn't deserve it and who was presumed to be literally fucking dead. mike was furious, hurt, and unable to stay quiet, because he couldn't tolerate the fact that will had gotten a shitty lot both in life and in his perceived death. that not even tragedy could make people be decent towards him. mike has always been willing to fight all sorts of monsters for all of his friends, whether they be fictional, from another dimension, or humans just like him. that's just who he is.

but that doesn't mean that mike received similar treatment as will did. troy doesn't ONLY look at mike when he says all of the many homophobic shit that he says, nor is mike's the only reaction that we see. and mike having long hair isn't a crazy thing, because a lot of men in that era had long hair. the artists that he and eddie presumably listen to are known for it, even. no one makes fun of his clothes or calls him a fairy.

like. i could continue on this tangent, but the fact that mike gets bullied for being a satanical nerd does influence how he interacts with his own sexuality. we saw it in how he spoke about women in season three. we saw it in the rain fight. we saw it in how he acted with el. we saw it in the rink-o-mania fight. we saw it in how he reacts to the truth and his inability to speak his own. will struggles to live in this world as he is, and mike struggles to be someone that he isn't. his ability to "camouflage" and "fly under the radar" like robin does affects his character just as much as will's hyper-visibility does.

have all the headcanons you want, but textual analysis should actually be... oh, i don't know... based on the text of the show? and secondary sources, such as things that the duffers themselves have said about it? i don't understand what the issue is. i don't understand what's not clicking even years later.

basically i don’t have a preference when it comes to brands. any brand is fine with me!

for size i prefer stuffed animals that are big enough to hug, but not too big! so like medium size i guess. maybe like 12in max??? i also like small ones that can fit in your hands easily! most of my medium sized plush are on my bed, and sadly i’ve run out of room for more :( i still can fit some more small ones on my shelf tho!

i’m kinda picky about fur texture. i have sensory issues! if the plush is a bad texture i will not get it, even if it’s cute! i like soft plushies the best, because they are nice to hold and pet. it’s okay if the plush isn’t super soft tho! i just can’t stand certain textures… they freak me out. i can’t really explain it. :/

now for poses… i like standing poses best for dogs and sitting poses best for frogs! those ones just look the best in my opinion :) sometimes laying down poses can look good for both of them too! i’m not a huge fan of sitting dogs though. they’re cute, but can be harder to hug!

one thing i’m also picky about is how stiff the plush is. i like mine to be soft and somewhat squishy! i do not like when they are firm, hard, etc! this is because you can’t really hug a plush well if it’s hard :( but i also don’t want to plush too be super floppy! i like a good middle ground i guess. mostly soft/squishy, but still firm enough so it can keep its shape!

and obviously my preference for species is dogs and frogs! lately i’ve been more interested in dogs compared to frogs. it started i think in march/april ???? i began taking a new medicine called Buspar, and suddenly i needed to collect stuffed dogs. and suddenly i like stuffed dogs more than stuffed frogs. i have no clue why the medicine did this to me????? the medicine has helped me an insane amount tho so it’s okay! literally before i started this medicine my anxiety was so bad i could barely go into public, and i couldn’t talk to any strangers, and i would have panic attacks at stores and stuff. but with the help of the medicine, i was able to finally get a job! and i can go in public easier, and i even talk to strangers! i rarely have panic attacks related to social situations anymore too! i’m super proud of myself btw, bc my doctor said i’d probably never be able to get a job. but i proved her wrong!!! ok this got a little off topic sorry……

anyway hmm… other preferences…. oh! i prefer to buy secondhand plush. this is mostly because they’re cheaper, but also it feels like i am saving them! because i know at the thrift store, anything that doesn’t get bought gets thrown away. so i am saving these little fellas and giving them a new home :)

i also prefer more realistic colored designs for the most part! however there are some exceptions. sometimes colorful plushies can be cute! it just really depends on how bright the colors are i think.

I've been seeing your AWL posts lately and am thinking about playing the regular AWL myself! :D Your posts about Gustafa are so lovely. Is there any reason you picked him out of the other bachelors!

oh, you totally should! i'm not sure exactly how different the remake is from the original, but if the characters and gameplay mechanics are still similar enough, i'd definitely recommend checking it out. it's a fresh breath of air after playing more recent entries in the series. i do know that the remake does has some quailty-of-life improvements and changes some things about the characters beyond just redesigns ( like lumina being the same age as the protag from the start for example. )

if you ever wanna play the remake, though, xseed does run sales from time to time on the story of seasons games for switch and steam. i'd recommend looking out for one of those sales if you wanna grab it!

while i haven't played the original awl, i had read up on the characters before since it's such an iconic entry from the bokumono series and i was curious about them. honestly, gustafa's always kinda stood out to me since i usually love characters that are generally laid-back, appreciate life & nature, and are on the weirder side. ( *gestures at emily from sdv and jennifer from the fomt remake* ) his design feels really unique when compared to marlin and rock, too. i just thought he was a neat dude and made a mental note to try romancing him if i ever played awl or ds cute. plus, he reminded me a lot of snufkin from the moomin series, who i also adore, so that probably influenced my initial impression on him a bit, too.

i did go into the remake thinking that i might try going for gustafa, but i still wasn't sure if he was the character i was going to end up with. awl has a lot of interesting characters ( and a lot of cute girls ) so i thought someone else might swoop in and become my fave. but then i started talking to gustafa and getting his events... i was done for pretty quick, as you may have saw. 😔 he's just really pleasant to talk to and i really love that his events generally involve the two of you enjoying each other's company, admiring nature, and him sharing his passion for music with you. but, i think the moment that really sealed my fate was asking him to the fireworks festival and being bombarded by how much rizz he freaking has. when he hit tris with "i think we'll both have some sweet dreams tonight" after the show ended, it was over. he really has my heart in a death grip at this point...

oh, and he makes this face when you ask him out to the festivals.

I don't really keep up with fandom wide stuff, especially since I've kinda just been keeping to myself recently and not actively participating but, if it's like, fandom wide agreed, but a lot of the time I see fanart of The Journalist™ (I mean like, Journalists that are portrayed as 'this is the standard player character' instead of an actual Journalist OC) they either have their face covered in some way, or are just absolute freaks (affectionate) that are aware of the game mechanics they have (no fall damage, respawn if they go too far in the water/get stuck etc) and I think it's very good. I don't really have any headcanons that I haven't already shared in the past. 99% of my bugsnax thoughts are just about Floofty and I know I have made those very well known lol

Why I like Nanahoshi

As I go through my list of favorite fictional characters I keep finding myself surprised by what it is about each of them that makes me like them so much.

I was surprised that the reason I liked Xanatos was due to his cheerfulness, or that I like Bill Cipher from the way they take advantage that he is an animated fictional villain, by Catra being a combination of various things I like merged into one, or even Rachel's simple but really intriguing motivation.

The reason to like a character honestly can be anything. You may like them because of the way they talk, or their design, their goals and ambitions, their backstory, and so on.

When it comes to Nanahoshi, I find that I really like her due to what an interesting twist on the concept of Isekais she represents.

(Warning! This will be a long one... I kinda go on a rant.)

For those who are unaware, "Isekai" is a term that is related to stories about a character going from one world to another, usually a magical world, where the fun is in seeing how someone from planet Earth manages to finally live the dream of most kids, that being, entering a fantasy adventure like the ones we used to watch in cartoons, play in games, or read on books.

Stuff like Owl House, Amphibia, Konosuba, Reincarnated as a Slime, Sword Art Online, Alice in Wonderland, and of course, Jobless Reincarnation. The idea is usually some form of escapism that allows you to get out of your boring daily life and enter an environment where all the skills and knowledge that were until now basically useless are now incredibly relevant and turn you into some sort of superhero or at least give you some form of advantage over the new place you're going to go.

I have a love/hate relationship with Isekais. I really like the idea of basically entering a fantasy story while knowing all I know about fantasy story tropes and seeing how things turn out... But I have gained a really big personal problem with this concept over the years, and it can basically be summed up in this line:

"He should be rewarded for his bad life..."

Over the years Isekai stories have basically turned into power fantasies where the idea isn't to explore a new world, it's to allow someone who never did anything special to suddenly become special.

There are so many stories where the premise is basically "You're in a new world with infinite magic! Or infinite ammo! Or infinite strength! Or infinite money! Infinite whatever, and now, every attractive person wants to marry you, every evil person is jealous of you, and every nice person wants to spoil you!"

Isekais have basically turned into "It's your turn now to be happy!" stories, where the goal is to convince the audience that the main character deserves to be praised by giving out the most bare bones of reasons. maybe their parents died, or maybe they never had a girlfriend, or maybe they sacrificed themselves to save someone from being hit by a car.

The overall goal is to make you believe they earn all the praise they're receiving... And I... freaking hate that mentality.

If you read a few of my posts from my list, you should know I just adore seeing a character's relationship with different forms of struggle. I love, love, love watching people being challenged and put to the test to see how they will overcome their hardships so that when they finally do it I can shout "You son of a b*tch! You did it!!"

I like seeing people earn their victories, and I like learning how they do it so that it can inspire me to do the same with my personal challenges... Which is why it annoys me to no end that so many Isekai stories are about just handing over victories on a silver platter.

They have basically turned into entitlement stories. "You've been a good boy in your old life, so now you're entitled to a new life of luxury!" it's the message I get from them most of the time. No struggle, no challenges, here is your reward because we gave some bullsh*t reason to justify that you earned it.

You're basically taking away one of the most vital components of storytelling, the goddamn conflict!

If there is no wall to overcome, the victory of the main character ends up feeling hollow.

But whatever… What the heck does any of that has to do with Nanahoshi?

To put it simply, she was the one that taught me all that.

Her story is basically a very clever twist on the trope of Isekai power fantasy.

For starters, she doesn't get superpowers after going to a new world. She actually becomes the only person unable to use any form of magic, which means her life has turned into a never-ending minefield where anyone can just destroy her if she ever gets careless.

There is also the fact that she doesn't like this new world. She actually had a boyfriend and a family that she lost because of the transfer and now all she can think about is how to get back.

And to top it all off, she finds out that she's dying as her body doesn't have the means to handle the atmosphere of this new world like the rest of its residents, and hardly anyone knows how to help her out because it's a problem they never had before.

But it doesn't even stop there, because while has to deal with all that, one of her best friends, another human from Earth that also came to this new world, did get a body that can handle magic, much more magic than the common citizen no less, so he ended up becoming a very famous figure known for defeating many monsters and saving dozens of lives, basically regarded as a genius.

Nanahoshi is so tragic because, aside from all these hardships, she still has to constantly look at what she could have been, an invincible hero in a fantasy world. But instead, she ended up as someone that everyone has to take care of at all times due to how fragile she is.

It's such an interesting setup. You go to another world, but instead of living the dream, everything just becomes worse. It gets to a point where just simply eating a nice meal becomes the highlight of her day because everything else is just so miserable.

All this girl wants is to go home and stay safe and yet she's constantly going through so much.

There is a chapter in particular in the novel that just destroyed me where she breaks down crying about all the things she had been enduring since she arrived, all the things she misses from her world, and just how jealous she is of her friend for having the most perfect life one could ask while she doesn't even know if she will make it to the next day.

I love Nanahoshi because she taught me the value of struggles in storytelling. Struggles are a great way to get you invested and to get you to relate with a character, after all, who doesn't have struggles in life?

Her story is so interesting, and to me, so inspiring that it even got me to make my own novel, where the premise is focused on a girl trying to get home from a fantasy world and all the hardships she faces and the psychological pressure she endures.

The actual novel of "Jobless Reincarnation" itself I have some very mixed feelings on... But the character of Nanahoshi is someone that means a lot to me.

I love her journey trying to deal with the challenges of this world and getting back home, I love her premise of being a twist on the concept of a power fantasy isekai, I love what she represents with the idea of never giving up even when things seem at their worst, I love what she teaches not only to me as a writer for the importance of struggle in a story but as a person for learning to respect the hardships of others...

I just love her! Nanahoshi is awesome!

Season 4 spoilers, I guess

Like I really do not understand why they had to overcomplicate and "explain" everything... Like honestly, maybe it's just me, but I really liked the upside down when it was just another dimension that existed along side ours and that's it. Because it made sense somehow by how simple it was. But now as it turns out it was all just a... Mind? A body? Of some telekinesis freak with a weird ass ideology that in all my honesty makes zero sense. Like that whole speech by Henry-Vecna-One is just so fucking dumb, I had to rewatch it on multiple occasions yet I didn't understand shit. Like, if we're explaining shit so much, maybe I've missed something, but how in the world of fuck was the upside down created? Why wasn't there an upside down for every hawkins lab kid? Or was Henry just extra special little voldemort type of boy that he got his own little hospital interior design looking dimension?

And that shit ruins their whole "Russia bad guys" plot, too. Because how the fuck did they find out about the Demogorgon and the Upside Down? Why do random people like Enzo (and I assume he's a pretty low ranking soldier, considering that he's just a prison guard, and like, I literally don't know why they just randomly give this top secret information about some "american monsters" to some fucking betacuck no swag looking motherfuckers, and not just keep this secret information to the high-ranking circle of individuals within the military and the government. And I'm not even talking about the fact that they keep a fucking monster from another dimension who can climb walls in a prison full of unprofessional personnel (aka simple guards) and a nearby village (which is a whole another topic)) simply know about it? Or is it a gag about the american military not knowing how to keep info like this to themselves? But okay, whatever, maybe it's some cold war type of shit, whatever, alright. Why the hell no one in Hawkins knows about it though and why does no one know anything about it around Hawkins? Because my brother in christ, when soldiers just fucking roam around your little town in the middle of nowhere, you kinda start asking questions. But okay, whatever. Maybe people are just dumb and shit and would believe everything they've been told. But what I was wondering though, why the fuck was there a portal in the middle of nowhere in the Soviet Union? Did Henry randomly decide to go international? Did he accidentally misplaced a finger and targeted some Petya Vasechkin and not Peter Basildon like he meant to do? That just makes zero sense.

And don't even let me start talking about the characters this season. Like they geniuenly suck, big time. Robin is just a quirky little lesbian side kick who had her 2,5 gay moments and that's it. Steve is apparently horny and that's about it. Lucas is there. Dustin is Suzie's boyfriend. Suzie is a genius and religious (amen). That stoner guy whose name I fucking forgot. Mike exists to be a romantic interest. Will exist to be a romantic interest's romantic interest and to get those 2,5 gay moment to sturdy 4 gay moments. Eddie is alright, he's the star of the show. Eleven explains the plot. Adults are just fucking around with russian people. Russian people are not even russian. What am i doing with my life

19. Tell me a story about your writing journey. When did you start? Why did you start? Were there bumps along the way? Where are you now and where are you going?

Oh god. I have no idea when it started KJFKL I feel like I've always liked writing honestly. it sort of goes hand-in-hand with my art journey. I'd make characters, draw the characters, and I'd have stories for those characters too. It's so rare for me to make a character design without SOME amount of lore being made for that character. It's almost inevitable.

Of course there have been bumps. Creative projects when you're a full-time student are, for lack of a better word, a pain in the ass to manage. NSN has been on a sort of impromptu hiatus for several months because of how busy university has been, and I'm always kinda sad when I think about it. But I couldn't handle both at once and the last thing I want to do is cause myself burnout. There are a lot of projects like NSN that I never completed or went through with because they were too big of a project for this little ghost to handle on her own on top of life stuff. I don't think I've ever really figured out how to not get over-ambitious with stuff, but I'm trying to make things easier for myself. At least a little.

Which actually kinda ties back to NSN again, honestly. I haven't posted any updates in ages, but I am actually working on occasion in the background on more solid planning for future pages. My plan is to have a strong foundation to build off of when my free time opens up more again. Can't say much about what I have in-store for it, but hoo. I am Excited.

And I have a few other lil ideas floating around in my head too for when I have time and resources. I mean, I do have this Whole Ass Country sitting here, and I think at some point I'd like to talk about what's been going on with That outside of the rps I've done with the characters that inhabit it. Not sure what that might look like yet, but. :) Perhaps

25. What is a weird, hyper-specific detail you know about one of your characters that is completely irrelevant to the story?

OH I AM SO FULL OF SO MANY OF THESE. I'm just gonna list a few faves because they're so fun (some of them I've def told some of you already, but have yet to subject the whole of tumblr to them):

-Fred is (was?) double-jointed somewhere in his hands. And he did, in fact, use this ability to freak people out. -Magician can do the tongue-flick thing reptiles like snakes and lizards do to get a feel for the space they're in. He often does it subconsciously in a new area, and it's so fast that it is near impossible to catch him doing it. -Also he can unhinge his jaw, have fun with that mental image :D -Xander has some of the best understandings of how intense periods can be despite never having had one, because one of his vampiric abilities is to be able to pick up on heavy bleeding.

27. Who is the most stressful character you’ve ever written? Why?

Oh dear god I could almost make a list for this too tbh. I think as of recent, though, Corrupted!Cupcake is uh. Definitely up there. Since I don't think I've talked about this on tumblr yet: she was used as part of an rp I've been doing focused on her backstory (which I rambled a bit about here). It's funny, because I also loved playing her, but oh dear GOD the rabbit hole of angst that spawned from that was insane (to the point that one of my friends who was also participating had to message me to make sure I wasn't about to permanently destroy the relationship Cup had with one of her characters. We were treading THAT kind of territory). I don't think I've been so stressed and excited at the same time playing a character in ages.
