Price doesn't have to learn how to use praise to coax you into doing what he wants. He already made you his.

He's a shark. sharp teeth, rough skin, instincts leading him to intimidate anything approaching his size and threat. But for you, his best weapon is his tongue. A soft, low voice. Firm hands. A word of praise and a scratch under the chin is enough to bring you to his side again and again.

He smirks at the way you stretch up his claws at the nice scritching feeling.

"Good girl," he says. It's incredible how easily you go from being fussy and busy to so, so pliable. You're the only thing in this reef he doesn't need to exert any force to tame.

He slides his hand up to the underside of your jaw, lifting your head to expose your throat.

"Who does this pretty neck belong to, pet?" he asks.

"Hmmm?"

"Tell me," he commands, patience thinning. He uses that commanding tone that triggers your deep-seated instincts to obey. And he tightens his grip in warning. “Use your words.”

"You," you say. You wrap your hands around his larger one as sweetly as you can and rub your cheek against the hand holding you. "All yours."

"That's right." His to command and control as he sees fit; his to care for and use as he pleases.

He tilts your head up to make you look at him better. "And who else gets to touch you like this?" he asks.

"You," you tell him. You don't mention Gaz, Soap, and Ghost. They're allowed to touch you, but you know it's because they belong to Price, too.

He notices the omission of the others, noting to himself later to make time to mark you properly. But he hums in satisfaction and runs his thumb over your lower lip. "Where do these pretty little lips belong?" he asks.

You give him a blank, doe-eyed stare.

"Playing dumb?" He gently pinches your lower lip between his fingers and wiggles slightly. "Such a soft mouth... Surely it has some use."

You tilt your head as if puzzled.

Price's eye twitches, but it makes you look so stupid that he lets it slide. He could easily just take you now to fulfill his own selfish needs, but he's more attracted to the allure of a steady, controlled descent into submission. He wants your sweet little brain primed and ready to do what he says--no playing, no resistance. Only service.

"Your lips are for more than giving me little pouts and smartass remarks." He uses both hands to grip the soft, yielding muscle of your jaws, cupping your face to draw you closer to him. "Let me see those pretty teeth of yours again," he instructs.

You open your mouth.

He makes a sound in his throat as he runs his thumbs over your bottom teeth, gently coaxing you to open wider. "Such a cute mouth, and all it does is give me trouble," he mutters.

He watches your eyes slide shut and smiles indulgently. Your teeth gently nip on the tip of his thumb. He huffs in amusement.

"There's something else it could be doing to be useful, don't you think?"

You straighten up, but your eyes still lull half-lidded. "Mm, okay. What do I do?"

He smiles at the way your gaze wanders from his eyes down to his mouth before darting back up. It's endearing to see just how easily you fall into the role he's preparing for you.

"We'll start with something simple. I want you to show me exactly what you're supposed to do. What you were meant to be used for." He guides you closer to him. "Come here."

i'll be interested to see if this holds true for WOT s3 since the s1 finale had so many extenuating circumstances and can't really be included in the comparison, but based off of the s2 finale, i believe that season finales tend to bear the brunt of "It's Different From The Books!" ire because they are the culmination of all the smaller changes made throughout the season.

this turned into a bigger analysis post than i expected lmao par for the course with my blog! read on for exploration of how the 2x08 conclusion of each season-long arc is the the most emotionally satisfying conclusion and/or the most thematically appropriate conclusion possible based on the show's particular version of the story, plus a bonus tangent on the nature of adaptation.

for a finale episode, the writers' prime concern 100% has to be "wrapping up all the season's arcs in a way that feels satisfying with everything that's happened in the first 7 episodes, using the book version of the finale event as the framework" rather than "recreating the book version of the finale event exactly as it is with all the same scenes and themes". the nature of storytelling inherently means that every single person who tells the same story will focus on different themes (just think of how many versions of the hades & persephone story there are), and a good adaptation knows that being internally consistent with its own Emphasized Themes is more important than copying-and-pasting scenes from the source material without making any changes to account for the specific way this adaptation is telling the story.

(but a lot of people can't even get past this first point because they don't understand that this is how adaptations - how storytelling in general - work. like, person B literally cannot tell the exact same story that person A told without putting their own spin on it. it's not possible! unless they're simply reading out the exact words that person A wrote, which can't be done when putting 14 massive books into maximum 64 hours of tv. so many readers like to meet this point with "but why does the books' version of the story need to be changed at all?" which is just a non-starter because a) medium differences require a ton of changes, and b) even if no changes were *required*, they would happen anyway because that is human nature when it comes to storytelling. when it comes to story-listening too! ask a hundred different book fans what WOT is about and you'll get a hundred different answers. rafe & co can't possibly make an adaptation that captures every single reader's idea of What WOT Is About, and nobody in the world could ever re-tell the story of WOT in the exact same way that RJ told it, not even the most die-hard book fan; all rafe & co can do is focus on making sure the show honors the core of the books' story while also telling a good story in its own right, independent of the source material.)

i was a classics major, okay? it gets to me! anyway, corralling myself back on topic.

for 2x08, it's very telling just how far Minority Reader Opinion deviates from the general audience opinion. general audiences fucking LOVED this episode (it's the highest-rated on imdb out of the entire show, currently at a 9.0; most episodes are in the 7-8 range), but a bunch of readers call it disappointing and one of the worst episodes of the show. if it was actually a poor quality episode of television, the general audience ratings would reflect that too (as they do for 1x08, currently at a 6.4 (i personally think 1x08 gets way more hate than is deserved and i thoroughly enjoy that episode, but i accept that's just me)), but they don't.

so what does that mean? to me, it means that 2x08 is objectively a very good episode of television which general audiences found satisfying, but which some readers disliked because it prioritized the emotional & thematic needs of its own version of the story over the exact nature of the falme events in the source material. which is exactly what a good adaptation should do! if you forget the books and just look at the show (which the vast majority of viewers are doing), then every resolution that happens in 2x08 is the most satisfying resolution possible and/or the only resolution that was thematically permitted for that particular season storyline.

egwene: her season arc was about learning to stand on her own two feet and not cling onto her mentor figures or compare herself unfavorably to others. thus, her freeing herself from the a'dam is the most satisfying possible conclusion to her season arc. nynaeve and elayne freeing her in the books is nice, but in the show version, thematically, it would've undercut egwene's Overcoming Impostor Syndrome arc to go "yeah actually it's true that she's not good enough on her own and when it comes down to it she does always need nynaeve to help her out". that version worked in TGH where she didn't have an Overcming Impostor Syndrome arc, but it wouldn't have worked in the show where she did. (but, yes, egwene learning in 2x08 that she doesn't have to rely on others is a double-edged sword, which nicely sets up her later-series struggles with trying to shoulder too much herself and not letting even her friends or partner help her.)

rand: his season arc was about learning to lean on others and not isolate himself or try to protect his friends by withholding his burdens from them. thus, him failing to defeat ishamael until all his friends come to lend aid in various ways is the most satisfying possible conclusion to his season arc. rand defeating ishy singlehandedly in the books is nice, but in the show version, thematically, it would've undercut his Learning That Strength Is In Numbers arc to go "yeah actually it's true that rand is capable of winning his biggest battles all by himself and thus it's no problem for him to push his friends away". given the themes that s2 emphasized for rand, the only appropriate finale outcomes were either success with his friends' help or total failure on his own, and they chose the former. (that being said, rand pushing his friends away is a continuous issue for him throughout the series, so i doubt he's perfectly learned his lesson after 2x08; we shall see!)

interesting to note that rand and egwene have inverse arcs in a way (foils!) and that some elements of their book falme climaxes were swapped, and that the way the show has done it subverts the expected gender roles. typically, men are expected to be Lone Wolves and women to be Team Players, and the WOT books absolutely play into these stereotypes throughout the series (sometimes intentionally as social commentary, sometimes unconsciously as an accepted truth of the world), but 2x08 and s2 more broadly did the opposite with our yin-and-yang co-protagonists. it's egwene who has the arc about learning to be a Lone Wolf and rand who has the arc about learning to be a Team Player. and imo these subconscious gender role expectations are a part of why some readers (esp reddit) got SO heated about "how come egwene can succeed by herself but rand can't", because it feels Wrong to them and Not How Things Are Supposed To Work (they've never questioned why rand can succeed by himself but egwene needs her friends' help in TGH, or all the other times in the books when men succeed by themselves and women succeed by relying on each other). but it's a totally apples-to-oranges comparison because egwene and rand had totally different season arcs and focal themes (but many paralleling & foiling moments within that), and so they each get a conclusion tailor-made to their individual stories.

mat: his season arc was about realizing he's a good, worthy person, finding the inner strength to overcome his worst impulses and temptations, and coming through for his friends after leaving them at the waygate. thus, him getting his Big Damn Hero moment with the horn of valere, getting validation that he is literally a hero, and overall spending the episode doing all he can to support his friends is the most satisfying possible conclusion to his season arc. (but stabbing his bff just as he was flying on a confidence high and trying to save the day was a downer note to end on, so we've complicated his relationship with heroism and set up some more internal issues for him to wrestle with next season.)

perrin: his season arc was about learning to acknowledge his inner wolf but also coming to regard it with fear and to believe that wolf & human sides can't coexist and he must Choose One (.......suddenly being struck by the bisexuality metaphor of it all. nice!) thus, him giving into violence to murder a human to avenge a wolf is.....well, it's pretty upsetting for him and serves to reinforce his growing belief that his two sides can't coexist, but thematically, it's fascinating and sets him up for some really great internal (and external) conflicts in s3. he's just gotten what he thinks is pretty strong evidence to corroborate ishy's claim that embracing his wolf side means embracing the shadow, so he's set up for a season 3 of deep-diving into his relationship with violence and his inner wolf. it's also a neat parallel with 1x08: there perrin's avoidance of violence allowed fain to escape, whereas here his embracing of violence has traumatized him (again), so our poor guy is really feeling conflicted in the pacificism-or-violence question because both sides seem wrong to him right now. huh, i guess perrin's full-series arc is about finding a middle ground rather than one extreme (pacifism/tuatha'an/human) or the other (violence/aiel/wolf). i feel like i've just had an epiphany lmao this is why i love the show! it tells the same story as the books, but tells it in a different way that makes me think about it differently and gain new insights!

nynaeve: her season arc was about learning that she, on her own, as she is today, is not enough to protect her loved ones. this is a tough pill for both her and the audience to swallow! but it's needed for her character, and we see it in the books too. nynaeve has an incredible amount of power, but she's terrified of having that much power and wants to pretend it doesn't exist. she's resistant to change, she's used to being in charge, and she's very "my way or the highway". these are all things she needs to grow out of (or moderate, at least) in order to be able to step up and do her part for tarmon gai'don. she has to learn how to embrace her power instead of being afraid of it or being too stubborn to let other people guide her and teach her, so s2 shows her what happens if she doesn't, first hypothetically in the accepted test (everyone she loves dies because she's blocked and refused channeling training) and then for real in falme (she couldn't help elayne fully or rand at all because of her block). so her 2x08 conclusion being Total Failure is not emotionally satisfying, no, but it's thematically exactly what she needed and will goad her into facing her block head-on next season. thematically, like rand, nynaeve only had 2 options for falme: break her block and succeed, or retain her block and fail, and it was too soon for the former (we gotta let her cook a while longer, plus the story will become too easy if nynaeve, or rand, reaches supernova capability too soon), so it had to be the latter. if the show had gone with a third option of her succeeding without breaking her block, then that would've taught her and the audience that it's fine to leave the block in place and she doesn't need to challenge herself to grow as a person, because when it TRULY matters she can always get around the block.

other characters get appropriate resolutions too! moiraine and lan get to work together to succeed after being at odds and failing on their own all season (rand foils!). elayne gets validation that she is an essential and trusted part of the friend group after feeling like somewhat of an outsider earlier in the season. ishamael getting vanquished and lanfear betraying him only to be betrayed by him in turn is exactly where their mutual mistrust was leading them (and it shows us why it's so important that Team Light be able to work as a team rather than as self-interested individual operators; the contrast between ishy & lanfear looking at the seals together while plotting to betray each other vs. rand standing on the tower with all his friends behind him makes me cry your honor. imagine hating that ishy's defeat was a team effort, could not be me!)

(it's also worth noting that the characters who had the least individual success/victory in 2x08 (nynaeve, rand, perrin) are the ones who will have the biggest individual storylines in s3 (tanchico & moggy, waste arc, two rivers arc), whereas the characters who had the most individual success/victory (egwene, mat, moiraine, lan) are the ones who will be taking a bit more of a backseat (of course they all have their own stuff to do, but none of them is *the* lead character of their TSR/s3 traveling group). this is intentional!)

so there you have it. 2x08 is adored by the general audience, and it's because of this: it gives us some damn satisfying conclusions to all the season arcs (and some exciting and visually stunning battle sequences to boot), and all the viewers who AREN'T beleaguered by "But The Books!", which is most of them, recognize that for the good storytelling it is. i for one will always care far more about the show telling a good story within itself than the show being identical to the books, and rafe & co will too, as they should.

the only downside to the episode is that, yes, it is quite cramped for time because there are a lot of arcs to wrap up. this should be less of an issue in future seasons when the season finale isn't "every single major storyline converges in the same place at once". for example, judging by the "goldeneyes" episode title it seems s3 might split it up so that perrin's conclusion in the two rivers is in 3x07 while other conclusions in other locations are in 3x08, giving each more breathing room. whereas 2x08 had no choice but to stuff everything in that episode into that specific episode because it's not like perrin could just do his falme stuff an episode early and take a nap while everyone else was doing THEIR falme stuff in the next episode, nor could the full falme sequence have been split into 2 episodes since that would have disrupted the flow of the story. the only solution would be for 2x08 to be extra long, which is nice to imagine, but we all know that streaming shows almost never deviate from their set episode lengths and so there isn't much point sighing about "this episode should have been 90 minutes long!" because that just is not on the table, never has been, and never will be. the first step to being able to jive with an adaptation is making peace with the limits of its particular medium!

plus, the only things i might deem "missing" from 2x08 are non-essential (ingtar darkfriend reveal - that is NOT important fight me, it's only important in the books as our first example of a morally-gray shadow-aligned person but the show has already been doing that in spades) or will likely be included in 3x01 (the gang spending some time together to breathe and process and catch up). at the end of the day, the show is always going to need to be paced very very tightly with not as much breathing room as those of us accustomed to entire books dedicated to reacting to the previous book might expect. and 2x08 did manage to pack in a LOT of character work amidst all the action and did a good mix of resolving s2 arcs while leaving some unresolved to carry into s3 and introducing some new arcs/issues/conflicts, all within 70 minutes, which i find pretty impressive. in conclusion, 2x08 my fucking beloved <3

Man, I want to do a bonding moment with Cero, Patches, Mervin, Morell, Berle, Livius and Vorago by bathing together and washing each other. Like possibly no horny, just me and one of the boys relaxing and washing each other's bodies.

Bathing together (no hanky panky)

Getting Cero to fully relax in a shared bath is hard. He's used to having his own baths at the end of the day, with no one there to bother him, without having to maintain a constant air of immaculateness.

Having you there already makes the process something he needs to "perform" in, thus he's initially slightly irritated. Hence, he insists that you sit between his legs, back turned to him, so that Cero can freely smile and sag and just be a person... He's fairly quiet, for once, and hums to whatever you may ramble about. Bath time is an unwinding moment for him, so it should be one for you too, even if he finds it hard to be completely "mannerless" in front of you. This means that you can swear all you want, make all the dirty jokes and splash around like an animal. Cero will not judge you.

Eventually, he becomes comfortable enough to make his own less than refined quips and air out some of his shortcomings/grievances.

What happens in bath time stays in bath time, do not break this vow or Cero will break some of your bones.

Patches often neglects taking care of himself.

To be fair, given the stagnation of plenty of his bodily functions, it's not as if the dullahan naturally produces foul body odors, but his earthy smell does become more pronounced. You must drag him into a bathtub yourself. Only then will he slump and accept his fate.

Patches is pretty quick in taking care of his own body and mostly makes the whole thing about you. Is he collecting stray hairs that fall as he washes you? Possibly. But he's also just basking in the feeling of cuddling with you in a body of water, which is new entirely to him.

He takes to removing his head, simply because wetting it too much is not ideal to its longevity.

The perks of having Patches around shine here, as he likely has some freaky little magic bathbomb he impulse bought stored somewhere.

Mervin usually has long baths after a headache-worthy job. And he doesn't really advise you join them on those, because he's mostly quiet, possibly wounded, and thinking of everything he just did- If he did anything wrong. That's no mindset to listen to you or even be remotely affectionate.

He has this tendency to make sure the bathroom is spotless before getting in. Because he will not, refuses to, undress in a "stained pigstall". You're the first to come in, undress and get in, he doesn't tell you why he does this but it's the same reason he'll sometimes walk slightly behind his brothers in more crowded zones, to make sure they're safe. Muscle memory. You're forbidden from changing the temperature, if you find it cold then he supposes you can rub up on him for warmth like the needy creature you are.

You're washed first, more gently than you'd expect from him. Mervin repeatedly swats your hands away when you try to return the favor, you'll have to insist until he feigns exhaustion. His pleased rumbling is subtle but definitely audible.

Morell usually doesn't have time for baths, it's all fast showers and walking around kinda wet. But when he does take the time to bathe, especially with you, it's kind of a game.

Rub a dub dub, get yer ass in tha tub- He'll push you in there, don't doubt him. He likes doing this thing where he stays outside the tub while he bathes you, and gets in when he thinks you've been sufficiently scrubbed.

The shroom is either humming or whistling, and it's really bizarre to watch him shake water off his cap. By the way, prime opportunity to touch his neck. Just letting you know. Especially since Morell keeps his eyes mostly closed while you're washing him back.

When he truly relaxes, he's capable of falling asleep holding onto you. Shake him awake before the water gets cold.

Berle is also another one that doesn't usually bathe. He just doesn't have the patience to sit there and stare at the ceiling blowing bubbles.

If you realistically want him to sit still, then let him eat in the tub. This will not have an effect on his digestion. He's going to be his usual chatterbox self and hardly do anything to actually clean either of you until he probably starts feeling a little cold... Berle is unintentionally really fast in his ministrations and may hurt you with his claws, so remind him to calm down every now and then. You are likely to get tickled if you take too long washing him.

Really, Berle is trying really hard to stay in the tub with you and relax, but you can tell his mind drifts off after a while and he's thinking of a million different things he could be doing. It's not your fault, he just can't stay still.

Bathing with Livius is interesting. He tends to let his limbs flop over the edge of the tub.

This is essentially going to be a game of mimic. He only starts washing when you do, following the same order as you and trying to get your timing down. For this reason, you either mutually wash each other at the same time, or he asks you to wash him first.

Livius tries to guess what type of bath bomb you'd like better, or if you'd like any at all. Getting it wrong will have him sulking for a while.

Conversation flows as easily as you allow it to, and he's perfectly fine with allowing you to play with his horns, so long as he gets to play with your ears and nose. It's in moments like this that he truly covets your body. Not necessarily in a carnal way (though the impulse is there), he just loves how you look and wishes to be in your body.

Vorago has written this moment several times. The shared bath between two lovers. Granted, those took place in fairly more fantastical settings, but still, Vorago is very excited. And flustered.

Vorago has to make sure this is perfect for you, but part of him worries that he's being too corny if he goes with too many pink things around or the petals... Lords he really wants to make it a romantic thing but he knows he's going to look like a complete ass. He helps you in like a gentleman and is extremely docile as he washes you, but there's definitely moments where you'll feel him smell you. Vorago can only curb his delight up to a certain point.

Be prepared for the workload if you try to wash him back, because taming his thick and voluptuous hair is a feat. He certainly enjoys it, rumbling deep and loud and probably dark in the face from all the attention. He wishes he could take a photo of this moment, write it all out, it's so perfect. It's beautiful.

As far as I can tell the reason that uk politics is trending is because Nadine Dorries finally resigned, basically as far as I know she's a Conservative MP who said she was gonna resign "with immediate effect" back in June (in protest for not getting a peerage, cause I think Boris Johnson promised her one but now rishi sunak won't give it to her lmao), but then she just... didn't resign?? For three months?? And she wasn't actually doing anything, like she wasn't really doing her job and they couldn't hold a re-election because she was technically still there so all her constituents were PISSED (saw one quote that said she was "as useful as a chocolate teapot" which I just love), so yesterday she finally resigned, 11 weeks after saying she would resign with immediate effect 💀

Also the reason that comic thing about train ticket offices is trending is because the train companies announced that they're gonna close down loads of ticket offices (making it way more difficult for ppl to get tickets, especially older people or people who don't have the necessary technology to jump through a million hoops etc), so ticket office closures is one of the things that the rail union want to be stopped as part of their requirements before they stop striking, cause they're on strike atm (I think it's the biggest rail strike we've had in decades?? Don't quote me on that tho I could be wrong)

Also another recent thing is that our PM Rishi Sunak "inadvertently" forgot to inform the necessary people that his wife has shares in a childcare business that he has decided the government will give a shit tonne of money too (he's "inadvertently" done this before, as if he needs it as well he and his wife are LOADED)

Basically everyone just wants Sunak and the tories out, this is our second unelected PM in a row, literally no one voted for him and everyone is super fed up

Three count em THREE whole people said they liked my headcanons and wanted more so I'm back with more, this time for how they sleep bc I think it's funny.

COYLE

- Like a damn ROCK.

- But also, extremely vigilant at the same time.

- You could pick him up, shake him, scream in his face, he sleeps. Door cracks open a little? Floorboard creaks? He's up and ready for a fight.

- I really hope he'd sleep in boxers but he strikes me as a butt ass naked kinda guy. Enter his room at your own peril he WILL fight naked.

- Sleeps with his arms to his side, stiff as a board. Dead center of the bed though so good luck if you're looking to share with him.

- Sleeps like that partly bc of military and partly bc if he sleeps on his side he drools.

- Snores like a fucking lawn mower. Has woken people up from a sound sleep bc of it. People are holding grudges.

- The sunglasses and hat stay ON.

- No blankets, no sheets. You can guess how awful this is with the whole sleeping naked thing.

- Sleep walker. Again, awful when you remember that he's nakey.

- One pillow. There is a perfectly head shaped dent in it from his bald ass dome.

GOOSEBERRY

- How many pillows can you fit on a bed? Okay now double it.

- Her bed has the comfiest blankets and the biggest quilt ever.

- Futterman gets his own pillow, so she sleeps on her back with one arm up on the pillow and the other resting on her stomach.

- This is because if he doesn't have his own pillow he'll complain. Also he'll get lost in the mess of blankets.

- She still does the Futterman voice in her sleep. Futterman talks in his sleep. Futterman does not say nice things in his sleep.

- She also talks in her sleep but she's talking about making sure the children are safe or that her pie needs to come out of the oven while Futterman says things about dental hygiene (and how you'll be taught about it whether you like it or not)

- The ONLY one of the prime assets that brushes her teeth before bed. Doesn't wash her face though.

- If she didn't have Futterman to worry about she'd be a side sleeper, pillow tucked under her head and blanket tucked up under her chin.

- She'd have one stuffed animal me thinks. I'd say it's the duck but that feels too simple. How about a mmm ratty old cat.

- Wakes up with the blankets off of her everytime. She doesn't know how it happens but it does.

- Wears the cutest pajama set ever. Futterman deserves pajamas too.

- Sleepytime tea connoisseur. Chamomile with cinnamon and honey every night.

- Again, God help us where do I begin.

- He is my little skrunkly so I say this all with love. Maybe. Potentially. Maybe a little hate.

- Would absolutely spend the money to get an adult sized crib to sleep in. Maybe Murkoff got him one just to make him a little less of a brat (affectionate).

- Sooooo many stuffed animals. So many. From classic stuffies to weird stuffed animals you never would've thought existed.

- He cuddles with the same one every night though, without fail. According to character ai it's a pink elephant so I'm going with that.

- I feel like he'd have a special pajama set for each weekday. Or he'd wear whatever the hell he was wearing during the day to bed. Not sure which.

The last escape pod is still there! Jumping in you go into statis sleep, missing eons while you're at it. You didn't wake up when the pod opened, no no no! You woke up with a few bots surrounding you with a look like they've seen a ghost. Wait? Is that the one and only Optimus Prime?! You stood up without a word and all of them kneeled. Malleus: This place does seem to have a few works of art that I can place, however. And I see that paintings that depict the Thorn Fairy seem to still gather a crowd here.

Malleus: No need to chide them, Spade. It's cruel enough to expect those children of man to hold their own against a great and powerful being.

Malleus: When my acceptance to Night Raven College was ascertained, my life was unburdened tremendously.

Malleus: My guardian stated to me, "You'll have to learn how to take care of yourself enough that you can survive on your own," and so…

Malleus: I would read books from the outside world that were provided to me, and found the wealth of knowledge fascinating.

Malleus: Those books granted me an abundance of knowledge, such as how to go shopping, or how to work laundry machines and other electrical appliances.

Deuce: He learned how to use electrical appliances from reading a book…!? He really was raised in a completely different environment.

Deuce: But honestly, I really can't believe that you go shopping on your own, or do your own laundry… Today is full of surprises.

Malleus: …Well, Sebek does insist on tending to my needs. And there is much I do leave to him.

Deuce: Ahaha… Yeah, Sebek has boasted about stuff in the past, saying something like, "I had the honor of hand-washing Malleus-sama's clothing!"

Malleus: …I can absolutely picture that, despite the fact that I had been perfectly fine doing my own laundry before he started to attend this academy.

Malleus: Although, for some time after I arrived here, there was no end to the number of difficulties I had due to my inexperience.

Malleus: For example, there was this one instance when I knew not the location of the laundry room… and chose to hand-wash my garments in the kitchen sink instead.

Deuce: EH!?

Malleus: …My fellow dormmates who encountered that spectacle in the kitchen had the same reaction as you just now.

Malleus: I inquired as to where the laundry room was, but all froze as if petrification had been cast upon them…

Malleus: When it seemed they finally had returned to their senses, they insisted on allowing them to do my laundry.

Malleus: In that moment, I had been swept up in their persistence, but… It does me no good to leave it for others to do.

Malleus: Sometimes I do clean my clothes with magic as I oft did back home, but I do try to use the laundry machine when I can as well.

Malleus: There aren't many who use the laundry room in the early morning or late night.

Malleus: After some trial and error, I was able to figure out how to properly use the washer, as well as the dryer.

Deuce: Even though you could totally clean everything with magic in the blink of an eye… It's so cool to see how you're always working to improve even when no one's watching!

in regards to the concept of abled people not existing/abled folks being expected to do more in relationships with disabled folks... You make some good points about us all being disabled in different ways and not recognizing it, but I still feel that there's quite a vsst gap materially between say, an ADHDer who can lift and push 50lbs easily/without pain and one who can't. And i have run into big roadblocks in relationships with other lefty types as the person who can't! And I think that expectation should be talked about and accepted more because I know a lot of "leftists" who would never think to apply this to stuff like doing the dishes because they're hellbent on everyone doing Equal Amounts. It's all fun and IG graphics about disability justice until they decide that youre Nonbinary roomate named sock who doesnt do the dishes etc etc , then see yourselves to the door!

You're absolutely right that there are differences in what various disabled people can do and the privileges that affords. It's glaringly obvious as a problem in Autism spaces, where people who can mask and speak like me are listened to and trusted and frequently talk over people who are nonverbal and cannot mask.

Even there, though, there are massive problems in attempting to rank-order someone's level of ability rather than just speaking specifically about these things in terms of privileges and oppressions. People assume I'm capable of all kinds of things I am not capable of, for instance, or hold me to ableist standards of productivity and ability because I "seem more capable. And Autistic people whose disabilities are more obvious have the opposite problem -- they are denied agency, presumed to be incompetent, not permitted to take on challenges they could find stimulating and worthwhile, and are dehumanized, etc.

And so where I'm getting with this is that we can't determine from the outside what a person is capable of doing, or what they should be capable of doing. It's not that far of a logical path to go from saying "Oh, this ADHDer is not physically disabled, they can lift 50 pounds, they can do a lot of things that I can't do" to saying "This ADHDer didn't unpack all our luggage for two weeks after our trip, they are lazy and not pulling their weight."

Someone might have the literal physical ability to do something in terms of strength or mobility, but not have the ability to complete a task because of the disabilities they do have (ADHD, in this case), and even if we are disabled ourselves we may be primed to see those people as lazy, uncaring, not pulling their weight, and all kinds of ableist interpretations.

So broadly I get your point, it is undoubtedly true some of us have abilities that others don't. but I think there's no way to put this idea into practice beyond just trusting people when they say they cannot do a thing, and not passing harsh judgement against people we think ought to be able to do a thing but don't (and maybe can't). This goes back to the original point of the discussion -- wondering why so many other people seem to fail disabled people and not show up for them.

To your second point, about a lot of even leftist people bringing therapy and instagram infographic "boundary setting" advice to their relationships and expecting all chores to be divided up equally, yeah that's a big problem and it's been a big problem in interpersonal relationships for many decades at this point. Most people overestimate the portion of the chores that they do, underestimate the work their partners or housemates do, and aspire to "equity" in a way that drives them absolutely crazy with score-keeping and resentment. There's a lot of research on how that outlook absolutely poisons heterosexual relationships and has done so pretty much ever since women started getting the ability to say no to a chore. It's a big problem of individualism under capitalism at its root, I think.

And the social change needed is much the same thing -- people need to learn to actually trust their loved ones when they say they cannot do the dishes, cannot clean the gutters, can't drop off the rent check, etc. I think a disability justice politics of raising everyone's class consciousness regarding their own disabilities and others is the way to go, and a massive strengthening of community ties.

I know we always talk about fragile reader during the illness but what about after? Fragile reader was plauged with this illness for hundreds of years so they deffinently adapted. Like typically when walking then would shuffle their feet a lot cause it took less energy so sometime they shuffle their feet and don't even realize. They didnt have the ability to do tasks such a pouring liquids into cups so whenever they're about to pour themselves a glass of water then to do collect themselves because what if their illness comes back? What if there dreaming and they'll suddenly drop everything. All of Zandik's work is reverted. So often times segments will just find reader staring intensely at a simple task. And of course they'll go comfort reader. Whilst they wish they could do it they know how much reader wants their autonomy back after such a restrictive few centuries.

But let not ignore the segments and Prime cause they've picked up a few habits also. They've gotten used to treating reader as fragile as glass so whenever they fall or trip post illness they freak out. It would require some comfort from reader to bring them back to earth and remember that reader is no longer ill. But you KNOW that they're pulling out every healing treatment they've got. They're all evil and sadistic doctors but for you they'll be good. <4

But regarding Zandik himself... Well he was so excited to finally have cured his lover that he completely forgot about the effects you'd suffer after. So when a few segments report of you not being completely free of your curse he's immediately trying to figure out how he can help you. He decides that the best thing to do is to be there for you. It typically is unusual to see the Doctor away from his work but now it's the norm for Il Doctors to be with his lover.

After being sick for so long, one would think you'd be ecstatic to finally be cured, to be free of the illness that plagued your body and life so much. And well, they were right, but the happiness still came with its anxieties. Change was never an easy thing, even when it was the good type. After dealing with this for so many years, you were bound to still be nervous about doing certain things. To not have the confidence in yourself to carry out the task. You worry that you'll mess up or fail and waste your time trying to do so and just end up making more of a problem for yourself and others. Even though you know that's illogical now, it's hard to get out of a mindset you've been stuck with for so long. Of course, your inner conflict doesn't go unnoticed by your lovers, and each segment would provide their own kind of comfort based on who they are, whether gruffly or soothingly, to give you the courage to take back your life.

You can't exactly blame Dottore and the segments for being overbearing, after all, they've witnessed your weak state for numerous centuries, and they've seen you hit your lowest many times too. They can't help but worry about their darling too. It's endearing at first but you have to hold them and help them realize that was the past you, the new you is someone different thanks to them. You can be strong and safe and independent without them now, even if it sort of makes them crazy knowing the situations you put yourself in now. Still, they observe you very much even when you least expect it.

Of course, the cure is not without its drawbacks - you still have to deal with the lingering effects of your illness sometimes. Which definitely aren't as bad as before, but they still serve to remind you of your old life. But you know that regardless of what the future may bring, you'll always have Dottore by your side to ease whatever pains you have.

(Dottore post-illness would be such a cutie. It's such a rewarding feeling, to see the one he loves no longer burdened and free to pursue what they want just like he does. He would sit and listen to all the stories you have for him each day, all the exciting things you can do now, the days of pain in the past. Of course, the segments would be extremely excited to finally have a worthy assistant - you - but there's only one of you after all. Unfortunately, they have to share, and bear the painful curse of having you to themselves once nearly every two weeks.)

Pairing: Romantic - Rivalry

For the most part they're the same as other versions of Megatron and Starscream.

It's just Megatron is out for most of the starting obsession.

The obsession for both of them also takes longer due to you being human.

Since Decepticons usually see the fleshy creatures as some sort of pet.

Things most likely start when Starscream assumes "rule" of the Decepticons.

Megatron is stuck on life support and is unable to be a part of the concept for now.

You most likely meet Starscream first because of this.

It would take some time but he may eventually see you as a needed asset.

This could be for a number of reasons.

You could be associated with the Autobots, which means you have information.

Or maybe you're a researcher, which means... again, you have information.

That would be the primary reason for why Starscream would take you onto The Nemesis ship.

Starscream would plan and watch you, maybe even asking Soundwave to record your routine.

He wants to get all the information he can before he takes you in.

When Starscream eventually makes his getaway with you, information is all he really wants.

That is until he realizes he can vent his frustrations about Megatron using you... along with feel powerful by bullying you around lightly. (too much and you could break!)

Honestly, Starscream's obsession is a lot like the fic Power Trip I made a long time ago.

TFP Starscream would use his human to feel like he's stronger over someone.

I imagine he has some trauma due to Megatron and uses you as an outlet.

When he's done using you for information he doesn't plan on just letting you go.

During your interrogation he learns he can keep you as a "pet".

Afterwards that's exactly what he does.

He'd purposefully make you praise him and be loyal to him.

He can't hurt you as you're fragile and squishy.

The most you're hurt is maybe bruising and scratching as he's so large.

He hits you wrong and you go flying.

Most of your "relationship" with Starscream is him dehumanizing you.

Soon he feels daring and even makes you say you love him.

At first it was to see how far he can push you... but hearing you say it made his spark shudder for a moment.

Safe to say he becomes addicted to hearing you praise him and say you love him.

Even if to you it's all rehearsed.

This is the life to him, ruling Decepticons and holding his lovely human pet.

That is until Megatron awakens and takes back the role of leader.

I'd imagine this is where the rivalry begins.

However... first Megatron has to like you.

Megatron most likely learns about you through Soundwave and the fact that Starscream keeps clutching you so close in order to hide you.

In an attempt to hurt Starscream, Megatron takes you.

He can tell you and Starscream are close which he finds really weird.

At first Megatron thinks he should just kill you.

Then he hears you've been made into a pet... one loyal to the Decepticons.

Honestly, he has to applaud Starscream for managing to tame a human.

So instead of removing you, Megatron keeps you in a hanging cage.

You're just in sight to make Starscream remain obedient.

Megatron doesn't entirely fall for you until later.

He mostly just enjoys seeing Starscream look so distraught and seeing how obedient you are.

Again... you're used for a feeling of power.

How Megatron treats you is very similar to how he treats you in this concept.

Like Starscream, he uses your forced loyalty to stroke his own ego.

Megatron likes to think of you as his human pet.

Who knows, maybe if you say you "love" him like you did with Starscream, Megatron may grow more attached.

As time goes on, Megatron decides you'll thrive better in a larger cell.

Soon you have your own "enclosure" on The Nemesis, one where only Megatron gets to look at you.

Megatron also learns how to care for you through Knock Out and Soundwave.

He may even be able to threaten some info out of Starscream.

While at this point Megatron has claimed you for his own, he allows Starscream to see you in order to keep him behaved.

By this point Starscream doesn't care about ruling anymore.

He just wants you back, then he'll even leave!

Starscream may even wonder if he should attempt to take Megatron offline again...

He was close last time... this time maybe he'll succeed.

Unfortunately... Megatron isn't willing to have Starscream leave with you.

You know belong to Megatron, not Starscream.

Megatron keeps you in your enclosure, closely watching over you and speaking to you.

Meanwhile Starscream plots on how to steal you out of it.

Starscream may even create a plot where he has the Autobots storm The Nemesis all so he can take you in the aftermath.

It's unfortunate that you're stuck between the two....

You thought Starscream was bad, but now you have Megatron too.

There's two ways this could go.

Megatron exiles Starscream in order to keep you... or Starscream manages to run off with you.

Even then, there's still a chance you could fall into the claws of the other Decepticon.

Even when exiled... Starscream will just convince the Autobots to help him somehow if he says a "human is in danger."

Or if Starscream runs with you, Megatron won't stop searching until both of you are found.

Even if the Autobots save you some how, now both Decepticons are competing on who can locate you first.

Ever since meeting Starscream... your fate has been sealed.

You fear it may be too late to escape once both of the Decepticons are attached.

Compatible scents

They're friends now; Izuku is so happy about it he doesn't mind the awkwardness that comes with it. They're still learning how to talk to each other and it's weird, especially because Katsuki is an alpha and Izuku an omega, but he knows they'll get used to it.

Also, the vacation period doesn't work on their favor; they don't see each other in a while, although Katsuki calls him every single day.

Inko notices, asks about Katsuki and his family and leaves Izuku alone with a kind smile on her face.

She's really happy for him and Izuku is so glad he can speak with his friend normally again.

When they're back in the UA, Izuku and his classmates notice that Katsuki has grown a few inches and his shoulders are a little bit more broad than they were before. They say it's because Katsuki is a prime alpha and Izuku belives it; he's always the number one at everything.

Although it makes Izuku feel insecure again; when they were children, their relationship started to break when they found out Izuku was quirkless. Now, he's not and Katsuki apologized for his previous behavior, but Izuku is still scared sometimes.

He knows he's a simple omega; he's not on the same level as Katsuki and when his friend realizes that–

Izuku gasps when a pair of strong arms pull him against a broad chest and the next thing he knows is that Katsuki is nuzzling against the omega's neck.

He's purring too.

"I missed your scent, Izuku. I missed you so much."

"Missed you too, Kacchan!" The omega chuckles, feeling as a heavy weight has been lifted from his shoulders. Maybe Izuku has nothing to worry about.

Katsuki still wants to be his friend.

Actually, now that he knows what it's like to be apart from Izuku, it seems Katsuki doesn't want to experience that ever again and now he follows the omega almost everywhere.

Uraraka finds it suspicious, but amusing at the same time; Iida is worried because he thinks Katsuki looks a little bit too attached to Izuku and Todoroki doesn't like it at all.

It's because they're best friends now and they know each other better than anyone else. Honestly, Izuku's friends shouldn't worry about it at all. Katsuki's friends don't, in fact, they seem to be having fun and actually support Katsuki and Izuku's friendship.

Then one day, Katsuki starts holding Izuku's hand, sometimes he even intertwines their fingers together and it makes Izuku feel so warm and relaxed he doesn't even question it.

Their scents start mingling due to the time they spent together; Izuku doesn't worry because he loves Katsuki's scent and he doesn't think it's a bad thing. They're friends, it's obvious their scents would mix at some point.

Although it's difficult to be apart from each other, especially at night when they have to go to their respective dorm rooms.

It's fine, they see each other every day anyways. Although maybe that's the reason why the first thing Katsuki does in the morning is to hug Izuku tightly.

Sometimes he looks exhausted; Izuku asks him about that one day, but the alpha makes a dismissive gesture with his hand to assure him he shouldn't worry about that.

It gets worse until Ashido organizes a movie marathon one Friday evening in the common room and Katsuki goes for the first time, after finding out Izuku was going to be there.

The omega is not sure how it happens, but at some point he ends up on Katsuki's lap and after the alpha puts his arms around Izuku's waist, securing him, almost afraid the omega would run away, he falls asleep immediately afterwards.

"Are you alright, Midoriya?" Todoroki asks, glaring at the sleeping blond alpha.

"It's okay, Todoroki. I don't mind. Kacchan's clearly tired, let him sleep for a while."

The alpha with mismatched hair doesn't seem happy about it, but he nods anyway. Then, Ashido and Uraraka smile with amusement as the alpha starts nuzzling Izuku's curls in his sleep.

"He's scenting you!" Kirishima points out. "That's so manly!"

"He's not scenting me," Izuku whispers, flustered. "He's just..."

Nuzzling against the omega until his scent is all over him, like he always does.

Alright, that sounds a lot like scenting. It doesn't help at all that Katsuki starts purring right afterwards.

Izuku blushes to the tip of his ears, but decides not to say anything about it; he also doesn't look at his classmates for a while.

They're supposed to be watching a movie after all.

But it gets worse; Izuku thinks he can smell Katsuki's scent on him all the time and even outside his room, until he wakes up in the middle of the night, opens his door and realizes that Katsuki is sleeping right outside, on the floor.

"Kacchan! What is it? Are you alright?"

The alpha wakes up, startled and when he realizes what's going on, he blushes to the tip of his ears.

Izuku has never seen him so embarrassed before.

"I'm sorry, Izuku. It's just... I can't sleep without having your scent close anymore."

Izuku's inner omega purrs at the confession immediately, but he tries to ignore it. It's... it doesn't have to mean anything, it's obvious that Katsuki likes his scent because they have spent a lot of time together.

There's nothing else to it.

For a moment, Izuku feels tempted to invite him inside, to let him sleep on his bed with him, but he knows that would end up in trouble.

It doesn't help that Katsuki looks over Izuku's shoulder, right at his room with something dangerously close to longing.

"Your room smells like you," Katsuki whispers, taking a deep breath.

"Wait here, Kacchan," Izuku mumbles then, trying not to think about the alpha's disappointed expression. He rushes inside and comes back with an old t-shirt.

"Here. I like to wear this one when I sleep sometimes."

Katsuki's eyes start glimmering with hope and he snatches the shirt off Izuku's hand, almost as if he's afraid the omega would take it back.

The alpha presses it against his nose and closes his eyes.

"It smells like you."

Izuku looks away, heart beating inside his chest violently; having the feeling like he's crossing some sort of invisible line between them. He shouldn't have done that...

It's too late now.

"I hope it helps you sleep at night. Now please go back to your room before someone sees you!"

Katsuki nods, looking incredibly happy, although he stops and turns around again. He takes off the hoodie he's wearing and hands it to Izuku.

"It's only fair," he says with a smirk. "Goodnight, Izuku."

The omega knows it's a mistake, but he puts on the hoodie anyway and goes back to sleep.

They keep exchanging scented clothes; it's the only thing that gets Katsuki to sleep and Izuku likes smelling Katsuki's scent before going to bed.

It's a mistake, but the omega doesn't want to stop.

However, even after taking his suppressants, Izuku has the need to make a nice nest a day before his heat starts; he knows he'll be safe from most of the effects of his condition, but he still needs to stay in his own room the whole time.

The only problem is that his inner omega wants to make a nest with Katsuki's clothes.

Feeling like there's no other way, Izuku asks Katsuki for a couple of shirts and a hoodie for his nest; he's really embarrassed about it, but he knows he won't be able to sleep or rest if he doesn't have that in his room.

But, instead of getting angry or irritated, Katsuki gets really happy about the request. He scents a few clothes for Izuku and asks the omega not to wash them when he gives them back.

Izuku blushes to the tip of his ears, but nods in agreement.

When he comes back to his senses a few days later, Izuku decides to talk to Katsuki about their situation.

"I think we shouldn't... I mean, we're friends, but we're acting like–"

"I know," the alpha cuts him off, scent becoming stronger as he speaks. "I don't mind. Actually, I like it. Izuku, I've been in love with you for a while now and I'd like you to be my mate."

Izuku can't stop his inner omega from purring; happy tears escape from his eyes and he lets them.

"Kacchan, I..."

Katsuki's expression changes suddenly; he mistakes Izuku's tears for a negative reaction and immediately takes a step back, looking heartbroken.

"It's okay if you don't want to. I'll... I'll always be your friend. No matter what."

"No, it's... I'd love to be your mate," Izuku assures him. "Although I think we should go on a couple of dates first."

Katsuki nods, agreeing immediately, Izuku has the sensation that he'd say yes to anything Izuku tells him.

"First, we–"

Katsuki kisses him; he can't help it and the omega melts into the kiss, he forgets about all his doubts as he feels their strong bond finally blossoming between them.

His classmates don't get surprised about the news, not even their respective parents; Aizawa rolls his eyes, but tells them he'll keep an eye on them and All Might hugs them both.

It becomes even more difficult to get them apart now; Katsuki gets really irritated when Izuku is not around and Izuku misses him dearly.

They still have to sleep in different rooms, but they keep exchanging clothes. Katsuki scents him now, every day because, according to him, he's not the only alpha who wants Izuku as mate.

Izuku thinks it's ridiculous, but he likes when Katsuki scents him so he lets him do as he pleases.

They have a difficult time when Katsuki's rut hits; he certainly takes his suppressants and recovery girl gives him stronger ones this time, but his inner alpha is convinced that he needs to be close to Izuku the whole day in order to protect him.

So the blond alpha takes Izuku in his arms and carries him around for the entire day; he nuzzles against Izuku's cheek and purrs every time the omega tells him how a good alpha he is.

Izuku's friends follow them around because they worry about the omega, but Izuku knows he's safe with his alpha.

"Kacchan, it's time to go to sleep."

As recovery girl instructed, Izuku gives Katsuki medicine, leads him to his room and leaves him there so he can finally sleep for a while.

When he goes back to normal he's not even embarrassed about what happened, he kisses his Izuku a couple of times, puts a hand on his belly and tells him he dreamt of Izuku getting pregnant.

"Kacchan!" Izuku gasps, blushing to the tip of his ears as his alpha smirks back at him.

"Can't wait for that to happen, Izuku. You'll look beautiful with a baby bump–"

Izuku has to kiss him in order to shut him up, but the truth is that he likes the idea, even though he knows they're not quite ready for that yet. They have to focus on their careers first.

"It's okay, nerd. We can wait." Katsuki assures him, like he knows what his omega is thinking. "But I still want us to move in together as soon as we graduate."

"I'd like that, Kacchan."

Soft Yandere! Dottore would be one who would always seek your attention. He wants to make sure all you're thinking about is him and only him.

He won't experiment on you, archons no. He would just make you swallow a sleeping pill instead, lying to you that it was your vitamins when it's really not.

He doesn't want to hurt you at all, he doesn't want to see any scars or bruises on your body.

He would kill if he finds out others would lay a hand on you.

He may not hurt you to make you stay with him but he will manipulate and gaslight you.

Why would you go out the palace without him? Have you forgotten the monsters you've encountered outside Zapolyarny Palace when your curious mind decided to walk out of the place?

You didn't have to know that said monsters were just his failed experiments that he released to scare you.

He was ecstatic with the results when you came clinging onto him once he finished killing off the last one. You weren't able to sleep peacefully without him by your side and it just made his heart beat even more faster than it already was when you begged him to sleep beside you.

Dottore loves seeing the way you would beg and plead at him whenever you desired something, the way your eyes would look up at him like he's the only one that can satisfy all your needs and desires. It always sends a shiver down his spine.

He would always tell you to stay in his room whenever he is about to go on a meeting with the other harbingers. He wants to make sure no one else knows of you except him and those who work under him. He knows how greedy the other harbingers are and if they found out that he has been keeping a treasure from them then it's over.

If they do find out, he's not afraid to neutralize the others. He's the 2nd Harbinger, dealing with those below his number shouldn't be difficult.

His own segments are tasked to watch over you and make sure your needs have been satiated. They're not allowed to touch you in such intimate ways though, that action is only for Dottore himself.

You would sometimes bend that rule and instead give the segments some affection. Some are happily embracing the love you give them while others are worried that Prime Dottore might find out but you would reassure them.

"You are not allowed to but he didn't say anything about me giving the affections."

Dottore would always tease you any chance he gets. He just likes seeing you cry and cling onto him whenever he would mention something about him leaving you. It lets him know how loyal you are to him, also because it just gives him pleasure to hear your cries and whimpers.

He would make it up to you though, all you need is a few kisses and touches and your teary-eyed self will turn into a happy pup within a few seconds.

Dottore would always call you either 'darling' or 'dearest'. It always makes you flustered when you hear the nickname roll off his tongue whenever he is calling for you.

He would always give you tiny trinkets and souvenirs whenever he got back from a mission.

"I saw this on one of the stalls I passed by and it reminded me of you so I just had to get it, darling."

Dottore would always make sure you're either holding his hand or clinging onto his arm whenever you two would be out of the palace. It's much easier to hold you close to him and to let other people know that you belong to him only.

He would always praise you in private whenever you would do something that appeals him. He's already manipulating you, he might as well ease your mind with praises.

He once embedded his name onto your scapula using a scalpel, he made sure to give you anaesthesia to help numb the pain. Sure he doesn't like seeing your body filled with bruises and scars but he just couldn't help himself. He needed to make sure you were only his.

Kisses on the lips is Dottore's favorite thing. He would watch you stand on your toes just to reach him. The sight was enough to make him chuckle before he removed his mask and placing a kiss on your lips.

Dottore doesn't say 'I love you' first. You would have to be the one to initiate it. But he does have a different way to express his love for you. He would always remind you that you belong to him.

Here you are now, laying on your shared bed. You were laying on top of Dottore as you two cuddled together.

It was one of those days where Dottore had just finished his meeting with the other harbingers. He was very annoyed at how long it took, he'd rather spend his time with you than listen to Tartaglia and Balladeer fighting against each other.

"You're mine. Do you understand?"

"Yes.. I'm yours and only yours."

"Very good, darling."

You heard him hum in reply as you felt his fingers trace across your shoulders to your back, rubbing circles on a certain area. Unknown to you, he was tracing along the scars he left that showed his name.

"Dottore..?"

"Hm?"

"I love you."

Dottore could only grin before placing a soft kiss against your lips.

So I'm reading through the Sandman comics, and I just got through "Three Septembers and a January" and it is just... SO interesting in terms of the Endless family dynamics.

(This is going to be so disorganized and rambly I just have a lot of feelings I loved this story okay)

Like, yeah okay I'm a Dream apologist, but seriously. Despair calls Dream (not in her gallery and without his sigil- very informal and borderline against the rules- and he still comes!) and challenges him to a game over a mortal's life. Dream is like "No, I don't play your games, I'm a goddamn professional" and Despair shoots back like "WOW you think you're soooo much better than us, not fucking around with people's lives, it's 100% your fault Destruction left" and Dream is like "...fine, hold my beer."

So that alone I'm like. Yeah dude. I get it. And if that's the shit he's been dealing with for all of existence? Yeah I'd be annoyed with my siblings too.

Another part I'm super interested in is seeing when Death shows up and when she doesn't (to be fair, we're following Dream, so it's possible we just don't see certain interactions).

At the very beginning of the challenge, Death shows up to like. Scold Dream for going along with it? She even says "I thought you were an adult" and like. Okay, sure, you think Dream shouldn't be doing this but are you going to talk to Despair and Desire about this? I love Death but a lot of times she gives me the vibe of an adult telling you "Just ignore them they're just doing it to get a reaction" instead of telling the other person to stop antagonizing you, y'know?

At one point Despair says "What's there to understand? He's mortal. He's nothing." And Dream immediately disagrees, and like. That feels like PRIME Death lecture area. Despair doesn't value mortals! The people they serve! Death if you can scold Dream for feeling lost and disconnected from humanity after being tortured for 100 years you can scold Despair for looking down on humans for seemingly no reason.

Desire eventually shows up to try to sway the guy they're following into giving into his desires, but he turns them down. And Desire is SO pissed like "what the FUCK this guy should be mine!!" and Dream's just like "¯\_(:/)_/¯" and then as he leaves is like "Tbh disappointed in you Desire, you weren't very subtle" which to me felt like an "I expected better from you" and, expectedly, Desire gets MORE pissed and as they leave, to themself are like "Oh he wants subtle? I'm gonna make him spill family blood and bring the Kindly Ones down on him!!" Which. To me. Feels like just a bit of an overreaction.

Seriously THAT'S why you want to kill him?? Because he insulted you during a challenge that he didn't even want to be a part of but got provoked into? That's your motivation? Holy shit.

Dream's done some fucked up shit, no lie, but when it comes to the family side of things? Honestly #TeamDream all the way, just leave the poor boy alone, Jesus Christ.

I am SO fascinated to get your take on BH's reaction to Ludinus and Downfall.

As someone who left Downfall with a very negative view of the gods, it's interesting to me that BHs (in particular Imogen) kept saying "but you're just like them" about Ludinus and then not realizing that she was saying that the gods are no better than Ludinus fucking Da'Leth. Yeah, Luda is a hyprocrite. Do you realize that the gods are no better? The GODS.

And BHs comparing themselves to the primes/betrayers as this "fucked-up family" completely ignores the power differential. "They're just little guys! We all make mistakes" but you're saying that about entities that can literally sling 9th levels every 6 seconds without using any resources.

Nothing that can feel and be motivated by loss, rage, fear, and revenge should have that much power. Respectfully.

Sorry this took me so long to answer! I’ve been letting my own thoughts simmer and rewatching the episode in pieces to grasp the Many Many different things that happened on my own because it was Quite A Lot and some of it (the delilah of it all, funnily enough) left me immediately with an overall sense of disappointment that I wanted to sift through before talking Thoughts so that I could determine analysis from bias lol. BUT. I DO HAVE THOUGHTS

Long answer under the read more, but tldr: Apart from Orym, Ashton, and Dorian (simultaneously the most and least surprising!) I don’t think we’ve gotten the full breadth of BH’s opinions at all. In part because this a topic of discussion that requires them actually, well, discussing it to form fully rounded opinions on but also, crucially, because they were expressing opinions and emotions in front of Ludinus. This is important, because Orym/Ashton/Dorian make the most sense to have no reason for holding their true thoughts back in front of either him or the party (obviously in Orym and Ashton’s case, but I’ll be honest in not considering what is now obvious—Dorian has no idea who this guy actually is! Of course he wasn’t opposed to raising his perspective!), whereas other characters—namely Imogen—have many more internal steps and hurdles to actually reaching a conclusion that must happen outside of Ludinus’ eye.

Alright. Long version.

I think it truly speaks to the characters that the ones who reacted the most immediately decisive were Orym—the one whose opinions wouldn’t have changed regardless of what was held within that orb (which. sigh)—Ashton—the punk, anti-authoritarian character who has had an established perspective of the gods and their power for quite some time, perspectives that were in many ways cemented in viewing this piece of history rather than dispelled—and Dorian—someone who, as mentioned earlier, has the least amount of context for who Ludinus is, but who also himself was raised in a comparatively high position of social power so as to understand exactly what Ludinus is saying about the gods’ misusing theirs.

And, of course, Imogen. I’ll admit: I was immediately shocked at her response, but in hindsight of course she responded the way she did. I have talked and gushed and wailed before at how deeply empathetic Imogen is, and how it is also her ultimate fatal flaw (demonstrated explicitly here), so of course her first thought was how she saw the feelings and motives behind the decisions made in downfall and not how it was also an extreme over-reach of power and influence. Of course she did. I think the only person she’s incapable of empathizing with is Delilah lmao.

And to that point: A lot of that seemed, on a rewatch and to me, posturing on her part. So much of Imogen is defined by her guilt and shame and self-loathing and its especially prevalent when she is playing leader—a role she is naturally very good at, but doubts constantly because she does not consider herself “good”. So, often, she does what she thinks others perceive as “good” and “right” and keeps her more complex thoughts to herself until she is in a safe space (often with Laudna), and projects who she thinks others need her to be in the moment.

Laudna, in the same vein, also shocked me that she didn’t push the breach of power here. But, again, she is also right next to Imogen in “bells hells characters most driven by/capable of empathy” (though hers is, unlike Imogen’s, often in conflict with her desires in really compelling ways) so on further reflection—and especially taking into consideration the massive amount of shame she is feeling from swordgate—of course she focused on the empathetic side of it all.

Ultimately we didn’t get much time at all for them to actually discuss and dissect their take-aways on all of downfall in a setting and context that would be free of bias and performance. If i’m honest, I think those conversations need to happen individually instead of in a group, though maybe Dorian’s inclusion and obvious clear decision on his stance being more in line with Ludinus’ may just be enough for Orym alone not to break the conversational thread again with his personal grief (and guilt, but that’s another post lol). I think their real opinions have yet to solidify even for themselves, and we’ll see them truly form in the coming episodes. The Delilah of it all notwithstanding.

Speaking of Orym’s refusal to think about anything—I think he and Imogen both are suffering from Predathos tunnel vision. Honestly I’d argue a good portion of fandom is as well. None of that conversation is ultimately about Predathos, it was about the gods and the role they play and the power they use or over-use or deserve. By focusing so intently on what we all already agree is the wrong and bad solution to this problem, we ignore the problem entirely. It’s one of my main issues with Orym’s stance this whole campaign. If we don’t ask what is to be done with the gods, and the campaign just wraps up with “we defeated the bad guys, yay!” well. What of the ruidusborn, who we know are treated unfairly and unkindly and who suffer through no fault of their own. What of the young vanguard members—the kids—who, also, are only guilty of caving to the idea of peace. What of Aeor, what of Ludinus—what of the cycle that birthed them both. To not engage with the questions being asked for hyperfixating on the Predathos of it all is to leave this campaign, in my opinion, on both a deeply unsatisfying but also deeply hopeless note. The cycle will continue. We may not see it—it may be another thousand, two thousand years before another Ludinus rises—but another Ludinus or Aeor or both will rise, because ultimately no change will have been implemented in the problems which resulted in them.

And—final note, promise—I was talking to a friend about this yesterday but when it comes down to acknowledging the societal implications of downfall, especially in Imogen’s case, I do think it’s going to have to be pointed out first. A lot of Bells Hells are characters who have suffered at the very hands they are trying to save, but also suffered in part and specifically due to a lack of access to knowledge about it all. It does not escape me that the very first scene of campaign three is Imogen attempting to gather knowledge on powers that have made her miserable for a decade and being unable to access them in a library due to her station. That is, to me, more and more becoming the underpinning theme of this campaign—especially as all Ludinus is doing in this moment with the Occultus Thalamus is displaying it; again, obviously Ludinus is wrong in his means (and arrogant in his assumptions that just because of his failures that no one else could find a solution) but this, specifically, the spreading of knowledge—that, I 100% find myself in agreeance with. So it’s not that they won’t understand what characters like Ashton and Dorian, both hyperaware of the implications of power here, are or will be saying. It’s that they literally do not know to think about it like that. Why would they. It has been intentionally kept from them.

Anyway I have no idea if that was uh. Sufficient Enough of an answer adksfjd at some point I just started yapping but! I’m intrigued, especially because of Dorian’s adamant belief, in what conclusions they’ll draw moving forward as the discussions truly begin! Hopefully! Hopefully they will discuss it!

yeah like. the thing is. brock and jonas aren't together in this scenario, right. there's a vibe, they both feel the attraction, but during the regular season they're both on suppressants all the time and it holds the instinctive alpha/omega desire back. and jonas has always thought, well, he's the veteran, he's older, he has to be responsible- he's an alpha, and this omega rookie is his responsibility to protect, like a sheepdog given a lamb to watch. his job to make sure no one takes advantage of his partner. his job to make sure brock can be safe on the ice and in the locker room as an unmated omega and not have to worry about having his extremely promising career derailed by heat and pregnancy, the physical complications of it, the problems that come with having to take months and months off while the body changes and then heals and maybe never works quite the same way again. and anyway, he's swedish. when his career is over and brock is still in his prime, jonas will be going back to a foreign country, and brock wouldn't want to go with him. it would be unfair to claim someone that he couldn't keep. he's used to letting go of things he wanted but that wouldn't work out for him anyway- with matt, with suter.

but brock does not want to let it go. he doesn't want jonas to go back to sweden and for them to never see each other again. he is convinced that jonas is his One True Alpha and that fate convened to put them together just like in the stories and he wants that man's baby. so like, maybe it's the end of the season and they've been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, again. and maybe nothing matters. so maybe brock is going to go off his suppressants and show up at jonas' apartment drenched in the scent of his heat, and just... see what happens. so it's less like, lying to him, and more like hoping jonas gets drunk and stupid enough off his scent to forget all the reasons why this is a bad idea and fuck him anyway

but now that you mention it the version where they're both pretending he's on birth control even though they're both very aware that he's not is also. that's a lot. like they're allowed to want it if they pretend they're ignorant of the consequences. jonas getting off a little on how much brock wants to be bred, to arrange this whole charade about it. a+
