#i tried writing one out once and ended up stopping because the glitching from all the words was making it impossible to continue

Hi! I noticed you bring up fanfiction every once in a while, so do you have an ao3?
I DO
But the stuff I post here isn't actually written out and posted anywhere else, and my ao3 (posted stories) is pretty bare. Like, I only touch it to read other people's stuff at this point
Everything I do write is OC stuff though, and that's not everyone's jam
The stuff I do post here all comes from my notes for said fic ideas. They're all fleshed out enough that I can write them into proper stories. Like, the whole plot is figured out, I know where to end, character perspectives, all that jazz. I just don't write them out, since I don't have that motivation, and the stories would end up huge
I don't like posting the actual stories either. People have asked for updates on the new chapters I just put down, and I've run into a lot of copy-pasters. Even the few things I have on ao3 is having a mimic somewhere. So I otherwise keep everything to myself, or post little things here
I've been going through my past stuff lately to reorganize. It's fun. Even if they're old (some are over 5 years old), I find little gems that surprise me like these
(Unordinary; Re:Zero; BNHA)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like- they aren't that bad. That's surprising. How old are these things???
#/THE FIRST ASK ABOUT MY FIC STUFF?!/#anon take this crown and commemorative sash this is monumental#ask#fic#my drafts are HUGE so writing them into actual proper fanfics would be. very big#the average is 150k words the low-end is 40k and a lot of them have too many words that google docs glitches#and ive had to make multiple drafts to hold everything#i tried writing one out once and ended up stopping because the glitching from all the words was making it impossible to continue#capped out at *checks notes* 103k words#the word count mentioned in the previous tags are talking about the word count for NOTES. i think an actual story would become abysmal#i like planning stuff. a lot#the biggest one is for a bnha resistance fic at *checks calculator* 260k words#but its really unmotivating to know people just want content and to take my words for their own#REPEATEDLY. even the small stuff is being yoinked#im serious. Actually everything ive posted as an actual story has been copied by someone else and advertised as their own. im tired of that#but i like writing so i do it in private. mainly away from the eyes of the internet#excerpt from an old unordinary fic#and a rezero fic where groovy gets hugged and is screaming like hes watching his firstborn be slaughtered before his eyes#my drafts surprise me sometimes because huh. this is not that bad for 6 years ago#an unordinary (webtoon) excerpt cuz i was organizing my stuff and ran into an old draft of it. now its trying to weedle its way to the ligh#thank u for the ask anon#if someone asked for more about the small things i /do/ show id probably panic cuz. no one ever asks. what do i say??? oh no im CRINGE#/lh#a lot of nonrom actually. most of it is. including that 3rd excerpt#all the excerpts actually#oc#out of context excerpts

Alright so someone shared the leaks available, it was around 17mins long between the two first eps so I'll discuss what it was said below the cut.
Spoilers obviously.
Mind you the subtitles were Ai generated, while they seem to be mostly correct there might be mistranslations and botchered parts.
So first of all song intro is the same (sad) but the intro seems pretty good imo albeit a bit shorter from the one of the previous season.
Okay so so Euphrasia starts by visiting the Ninja that lead to a flashback of Ras and the team entering he cloud Kingdom in search of the archives so they can get info on the Forbidden five.
Euphrasia escapes, tries to fly all the way to the monastery, fails and she's brought to the Ninja by Percival.
We discover Ras is the one that cursed the worms so when certain info is searched for they will attack.
So yeah, Ninjas arrive, get absolutely wrecked by Ras and escape (and by absolute wrecked I mean it, they get beaten up badly by Cinder)
Confirmation that Cinder seems to be the new master of smoke btw. Kai mentions he has beaten him (as in the prev elemental of smoke) before.
They're also writing something when the Ninja arrive and Zane identifies the language as "something evil" and that he can't read it.
Ras says Shatterspin is a more advanced technique that has long been banned.
Kai: "Come on he can't stop us all", Cinder proceeds to clean the floor with them, not even kidding, Zane even starts glitching after one of those hits.
Anyways, it seems Cinder is capable of using Shatterspin everytime Ras hits the gong.
Well, they escape, otherwise they would be fucked, is not even funny how fast that went from a normal mission to being fucked up.
So Ras now has free access to the archives, Euphrasia stayed at the cloud kingdom btw.
Next Ep.
Nya searched through scrolls but can't find shit about Shatterspin, Kai is practicing with his mech so the sibs are talking.
Arin is in his shared room practicing, explaining is kinda the best he can do as everyone's mood is dampen, Sora is there well, inventing gadgets, she isn't happier about the lose either.
Arin explain Lloyd is in the courtyard meditating and such that's why Arin is practicing in his room.
Lloyd gets tired because it's been hours meditating and he can't just get any info so he calls to the source dragon and that's when he has the vision of all the source dragons talking to him.
The one that Loyd let free explains that Lloyd is descendant of one of the first conduits, he controls a very specific element and that he is no ordinary mortal, while the others don't seem to happy about it they in the end agree to help Lloyd (the vision clip u know)
Wyldfyre is having trouble sleeping (we can see she sleeps in the Dragons stable besides Heatwave)
Kai goes to see Wyfy (he wakes her up) and she is genuinely happy to see him, he explains she has to rest for her own good and she can't come with them and well, Wyfy isn't happy but agrees (reluctantly), she also says she hopes the mission is very changeling, out of spite ofc.
Anyways they are preparing for the trip, Zane is staying in case something happens, Frohicky too and Kai asks the frog to keep an eye on Wyldfyre.
We see Ras gang searching for info and Jordana comes up saying she has found the last components they needed, Ras is pleased and says she's mastering better and better and praises him, you can see Jordana and Cinder's bitchy rivalry.
Here actually is when we see them separating one piece of the cloud kingdom.
Back to the Ninjas we see Wyfy is discovered, Kai is not happy, well no one is but Kai specifically is not happy and scolds her.
They don't have time to take her back because they reach a mountain and get inside, Sora tells a story of her not wanting to do chores and making a robot that could make them for her, once her mother found out she got furious and Sora escaped to the.. sewers/tunnels? She explains she went so deep she got lost for two days, all that to explain that whoever they're searching for probably doesn't wanna be found out.
And that's where the vid footage ends. :3
Some other stuff mentioned (not in clips but from the leakers)
After vid ends they are attacked by tentacles, a creature that can give them illusions. We've:
Jay forgetting Nya
Loyd not living up to wu
Beatrix returning
Also apparently there's another Pixal mention.

I love your vibes!!! Can you do a Funtime Animatronics x stuttering reader? I stutter myself, and I like to think it’s similar to a voicebox malfunctioning :) By the way, if you have any FNaF x reader fic recommendations, I would appreciate that too!!

~𝓕𝓾𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓶𝓮 𝓕𝓻𝓮𝓭𝓭𝔂 w/a Darling That Has a Stutter~

~~~~~~~~~~
HELLO DARLING! Thank you for requesting this, I live with someone who has a stutter that she's always been very embarrassed and upset over. I think it's very important to represent this because I don't think I've ever seen any book, fanfiction, or writing in general with a stuttering reader.
I myself don't have a stutter, but living with a person who does has given me knowledge of it, so I tried very hard to get it accurate!
ALSO DUHHDHFHJFJS I'm sorry but I don't have any fnaf fanfic recommendations, I don't really read fanfiction I only write it LOL. I think I've only ever requested three or four things from someone in all my years of writing. If I do end up reading some good ones, though, I'll reblog it :D
~Enjoy~
~Freddy doesn't even notice, he's built for fun, not pointing out if somebody has a speech impediment.
~He'll only do something if you end up apologizing about it, or getting so frustrated you just stop talking.
~Doesn't take it seriously, and thus he doesn't make a big deal of it. Will be all happy and cheerful about it, actually, and reassures you by saying something like, "HEYY, MY VOICE BOX GLITCHES, TOO!" to (hopefully) lighten the mood, and then will drop it like nothing happened.
~Never once does he make fun of you or seem annoyed by it, never once will he interrupt you while you're talking, and never once will he get restless while you talk.
~If you get upset and stop talking, he'll either give you a second, or will give you a big hug if you apologize. Why should you apologize??
~Or, if you'd rather change the subject, then he'll just talk about something else with you.
~It literally doesn't matter because he doesn't even notice. It's not even a thing of being respectful, it's a thing of "you're my friend and we're talking wdym lol"
~His voice box often glitches or is just completely busted, and it's always a problem with this animatronic. He's always having to get it fixed, so he understands- kind of. Humans don't have voice boxes! But he knows the struggles and frustrations of sometimes being unable to get out what you want to say, especially with specific words.
~So overall, no, it doesn't make a difference to him if you stutter or not. He loves you very much.
Here are the requesting guidelines!
idk pc funtime :D - kylie x simon fan fic
summary: idk!!! i just wanted to write them having fun on a computer since my friend mentioned them gaming its just a short fic half the time its them just observing each other :p words: 2,105 a03 link if u don't wanna read it on tumblr :3 notes: i just write to have fun sorry if its not the best as a treat u get another doodle near the end
Games are hard and what's even harder is trying to focus on them. No matter what she felt like something always went wrong, she totally didn't care as she gripped the mouse before stopping herself and seeing the horrible text of defeat. The last thing she would do was let a game win over her emotions, she felt someone linger over her shoulder. This feeling was common in the past few months of having a SQUIP but she didn't like it. He was too quiet right now and ghostly, it was out of the ordinary for him. She stopped what she was doing and turned around in her swivel chair just to see Simon standing above her with a scowl.
“You're doing it completely wrong.” He said with a harsh tone and glare as he pushed up his glasses and had his arms crossed. His glasses clouded his eyes whenever he was like this and he looked more stone-cold than ever. She scoffed and threw her hands in the air. “It's just a game..” She mumbled as she turned back around, clicking away to another tab to keep her mind off of it as her lips pouted. “It's so dumb.” She mumbled in a sort of whisper as she put one hand on her cheek to balance her heavy head. He groaned about how sour she was being about this especially since she was lying, does she constantly forget that he's in her head?
He stared at her. “You don't think it's dumb. Your brain doesn't say that. You're just upset because you lost.” Simon weirdly said in a sing-songy voice. He smirked, happy he was right, which was the usual but it still felt nice.
“I don't wanna play anymore. It's…” She growled thinking of a word, and she couldn't find another replacement. “Stupid..” She pouted and swiveled back around to face him. Her legs curled up to her side as she gently rested her head on her knees. He looked down at her a little more. He had a good idea of what to do in this situation, obviously to help her. It was his job after all and it was one of her goals that he would do anything to help her achieve but he stopped himself. She was upset in a way and he had to pick between helping her win or helping her feel better as he weighed the options in his head he wanted to do both at once.
“Stop sulking.” He groaned at her sulking before spinning her back around to face her desk as his geekiness was showing right now. She groaned a little.
“I will help. I have too of course and you need it.” He was trying his best to be polite without being rude but he just wanted to help.
She felt him nudge her out of her sat as she got up with a stretch. He sat down and watched closely on her computer, moving quickly with loud clicks. She bent down a little and watched his blank facial features as she barely paid attention to what he was doing. She always liked seeing him do something he enjoyed in a way like the small moments where he would talk about code and games, it made her so happy seeing him flash a smile and be a total know-it-all.
“Sit and watch.” He moved over a little and phased through the chair uncomfortably as his sides glitched and small blue pixels were coming from him. She sat down and felt bad as she tried her best to make room in the chair, uncomfortably sitting at the side. He winced a little before going back to a normal sitting pose as he felt his side go back to normal, he sighed dramatically before picking her up slightly and placing him on his leg so she could sit on his knee and not be so squished between.
She stiffened at his touch and nervously sat on his leg, her cheeks grew pink as she watched him carefully. He moved his arms around her so he could still use the computer and was very proud of himself for doing such a thing as he wasn't one for touchy-feely things but this was okay enough for him. He did enjoy the slight warmth she always gave off compared to his cold harsh body.
“Watch very closely.” His eyebrows furrowed as she watched the flashing colors on the screen and tried not to giggle at his geeky lisp near the end. It was a lot to process but he was scarily good. Well, why wouldn't he be, after a few minutes of genuine shock and watching it as well as uncomfortably and nervously sitting on his leg.
Her hand was on the mouse as he put his hand over hers to move it around. She couldn’t help but notice how robotically he moved with really no mistakes. It was interesting and his hands on hers made her cheeks a bit pink, it felt so strange when his hand would phase through hers or the mouse's. It was an electric feeling of course but felt so ticklish so she tried not to squirm. Throughout the entire round, he pointed and commented on everything. He talked and talked about her mistakes and the small details she had been missing as well as dropping the fact he had been tracking her and her brain to see how her train of thought while playing worked. She was used to things like that but a part of her couldn't help but feel weirded from it.
She stayed quiet, not to disturb him, and just listened. The pair finally finished and he flashed a grin. He was proud seeing her surprised face and wide eyes, it always made him happy to impress her in any way shape, or form. He could always do that being a supercomputer and all but it was special to impress her with something she was particularly interested in.
“Do you see your simple misthtakes now?” He said with a smug tone, an almost teasing one at that. He leaned back in the chair as he stretched out, his arms went behind his head with a groan. He can't even get tired but he felt like he must emphasize how focused he was.
“Can you play more..It's fun to watch…and u-um.. I need more ‘help’ ” She mumbled as she looked away, trying to hide how impressed she was not to stroke his ego further. He sat back up quickly with wide eyes, for once she was able to see them and he felt himself glitch a little excitedly. He didn't know what to say, a part of him wanted to correct her stuttering but another part of him ignored that completely and just wanted to impress her further.
He felt himself smirk and try not to happily laugh. “Well I mean..Yes.. If you need more explaining then..yes.” He said his best not trying to sound like he was excited to show off. He held her closely with one hand and debated on pecking her cheek but let her get back on his thigh before starting another game.
“I had no idea you needed such help..you know you can always tell me… it's not like I won't know.” He tried sounding helpful but his smug tone just buried it completely. She let out a small nod before leaning into him and moving slightly down in the chair and into the center of his legs so she could finally sit there comfortably. He rolled his eyes at her new pose as the lumbar support wasn’t the best but he didn’t have time to correct her posture he just wanted to show off.
He couldn’t help but monitor her body right now and try his best to take a peek into her mental state. Simon noticed how much she would curl up to him in holding like feeling a part of him wanting to fix how clingy she was but that was the least of his worries most of the time. He can’t claim not to know why she feels this way, he’s a part of her brain, but he wouldn’t want to point that out right now, which could upset her.
He quickly noticed her sudden compliance to all of this when usually she would resist the help in the things she takes pride in. He noticed her nerves relaxing and blood pressure slowing which made him a bit antsy, he gently touched her side just to see her pressure spike up again. It made sense, he was just worried for nothing.
He was getting used to her being on top of his leg as he opened them a bit more and nudged her in the space in the middle, he always enjoyed this fun pose they did from time to time it was like she was in the palm of his hand. She moved downwards in the seat and leaned backward, she was rather happy about this whole thing. She didn’t care sometimes about how bad or good she did in a game usually. She just happened to get a bit pissy about it. Kylie just wanted to see him have fun at the moment and relax. It was an interesting thing to watch and she hoped her account didn’t get banned for technically bot activity..eek O_O..but who knows..
He started enough round as he let out a small relieved sigh like he had been working all day and just sat down.
During the queue times, he usually placed his head on hers to rest it or impatiently tangled through her hair with his fingers before focusing in. He was having fun and wished he could do it all the time..he can but he just chooses to focus on other things and other ‘goals’..
He didn’t say much, usually pointing when something interesting happened and loudly explaining their faults or he just made quiet giggles trying not to disturb her peace. Her eyes felt heavy but she watched intensely and had a small smile the whole time. He tried his best not to move around a lot so she wouldn’t fall off or move somewhere else, he liked the warmth and weight on him versus the cold empty floaty feeling he felt all the time. It made him feel alive but he was too flustered to make any more moves really.
He felt her go limp during some moments and couldn’t help but take a peek at her heart rate and pressure. She hadn’t been going to bed at his preferred time for her so it made sense she would be so tired but a sense of pride washed over him when he realized she fell asleep on him. He would usually discourage such a thing as she’s not sleeping in a good supporting position and she was still in her normal clothes but he would let it all slide for tonight. He was so happy she was even comfortable enough to sleep on him. His breathing got quicker as he tried to be extra careful as he felt her heavy warm weight curl around him and drift off from time to time. She was fighting to stay awake but it was so comfortable and hearing him click away felt nice.
After a few games around 2 hours flew by before he noticed her fully asleep and zipped out the chair slowly. He was trying his best not to disturb her needed slumber and shushed her to sleep. Simon debated moving her to the bed but if he didn’t it could be another issue for tomorrow. He mentally rolled his eyes as tried to gently carry and or pick her up on the bed which was difficult since she would open her heavy eyes a little before drifting back off. He wasn’t used to carrying someone at all and rolled her onto the bed as he put a small blanket on her while removing her glasses with another hand. He tried his best to make sure she kept perfectly straight before she rolled over and messed it up.
Simon gave a small smile before gently kissing her cheek, feeling the slight zap that came from it. He sighed as he placed the glasses down and disappeared into the dark as the room's lights turned off, he couldn’t sleep but he had to have a stationary mode of sorts where he just waited for tomorrow and studied the plan for the next school day.
Storm, Sleep, Single.
send a word and I'll write a drabble or a headcanon based on it (or a smile shot, since apparently the concept of a "drabble" eludes us here at safyresky industries)
Storm
The Time Splinter turned the corner, bearing down on the toddler sized sprite. It lifted its hand; a small portal opened, icicles sliding right out of the past and rushing towards the child.
She yelped, throwing out her hands and blasting snow around her, the force of which threw her out of the way of the icicles just in time as they continued down the hall, her brown braids swinging behind her.
Both Jacks turned the corner; young Jack almost toppled over, his shoes skidding on the tiled floors.
"Got you," said the older Jack, pushing his younger self upwards effortlessly as he slid easily around the corner, not loosing his balance once.
The pair booked it down the hall, fast in pursuit of the Time Splinter as it tried very, very hard to kill the tiny sprite in front of it.
She was holding up pretty well, actually, all things considered. But her little chest was heaving and her snow was getting thinner and oh no, a dead end!
The tiny sprite looked at the wall; she looked at the left. Door. She tried it; it was locked. The right—more wall. She turned around. Maybe she could sneak under it and run back? Maybe she could climb a wall? Jack could so maybe she could too? Maybe, maybe, maybe—she looked up, choking back a sobby scream.
The Time Splinter had grown in size. Behind it, her brothers were rushing over, their hands glowing, her Jack looking ready to kill and the older Jack looking very, very, very, lots of things, too many things that she couldn't even BEGIN to make words for because holy moly, the time thingy had just opened up a time hole and the largest blast of snow she had EVER seen came FLYING out, shoving them both all the way back down the hall.
They landed in a heap. The Time Splinter cackled, its sharp fingers glitching. It turned back to the young sprite with a sharp, bad, bad, BAD grin and oh no, oh no, it was opening a SECOND TIME HOLE.
She backed up, hitting the wall, looking up at the glitchy, colourful thing, unable to even shout for her brother she was so scared.
"You may have dodged all those other ones," the thing said, sounding like TV static. "But I happen to know of a set that won't miss in a few years time...let's speed things along now, shall we?" It hissed, looking back at the Jacks.
"NO! DON'T!" The older Jack shouted, trying to get back up again, only to be thrown back by a fresh glob of snowstorm from the portal the splinter had left open.
"Don't what?" His younger counterpart asked. "What did you do?"
"Bye bye, Little Flurry," the Splinter said, and, with a snap, the three icicles from so long ago but also just a few decades away came flying out of the time hole, the small sprite lifting her hands, the tiniest little ice shield popping up as both Jacks yelled NO, trying to fight what must've been one of Winter's ancient blizzards as the icicles (and the brothers) headed right for her—
"YOU don't get to call me that," said a new voice.
A wormhole had opened above the child. Snow came POURING out of the hole, hitting the ground with a THWOMP, a blue clad someone barely visible through the storm. There was a crack as the snow froze over, the three icicles embedding themselves into the snow.
The Splinter jumped back, aghast; both Jacks stopped, staring at the snowy wall, waiting.
Behind the wall, the small sprite looked up, her jaw on the floor as the woman in front of her looked down with a very familiar warm smile.
"Little Flurry," the woman said to her. "Meet the Big Storm you'll become one day," she said with a wink.
And with a battle cry, her arms flew back. The snow in front of her cracked and shattered; she pushed forwards, and the snow exploded, the hallway fast entering whiteout conditions.
The woman directed one hand upwards. The snowstorm she had unleashed in the hallway shot up. The snowy flakes froze quickly, gathering together and hitting the Time Splinter directly.
It screeched, withering in the air as the ice pellets pelted it, until finally, it shattered, dissipating above them.
The snow settled; the hall was quiet.
"You okay?" Jacqueline asked her very little self.
The little sprite took in a very deep breath, opened her mouth, and screamed, "I AM A STORM! RARGH!" Her arms reaching high, high, high above her head.
Big Jacqueline laughed; her Jack breathed a sigh of relief.
"Yeah, she's fine," young Jack said, fondly.
Sleep
"Coffee's all around," Cassandra said, sleepy tired, as she sat at the table with most of her wing. "Extra sugar for both Jackie and Amy, double double for you, Charlie, and I have one for you too, Alex. I brought you a bit of everything because I didn't know how you took yours."
"Oh, I don't need a coffee!" he said with a brilliant smile. "I don't sleep so—uh, I mean," he said, faltering as Amy and Jackie both shot him warning glares, "Yes! Coffee! That is a beverage that I do drink because I do, in fact, need sleep because humans need, uh. Sleep. And I definitely did not get enough sleep to function. For the day. Hundred percent. So now I will have. A coffee. To stay awake. Which is something I don't just do naturally. Right."
Amy sighed in relief; Jackie facepalmed.
Cass glanced over at Charlie; he looked just as confused as she felt.
"Are the others joining us?" Amy asked, politely changing the subject.
"Derrick was out all night so no idea where he's at. Desiree's getting Starbs and hitting the library asap to secure us a study space for the midterm prep," Charlie said.
The magihuman chatted with Cass, completely unaware of how carefully Jackie and Amy were watching Alex.
"You know," he whispered, leaning forward, "I've never had coffee before."
"You have coffee at the Dream Spire, though. I'm sure of that," Dite replied. "Really good coffee, too!"
Xander nodded. "I just don't usually drink it; I take after my Renny. They don't sleep, and nor do I. Half of the dream weavers don't need sleep! The other half are always sleepy."
"You didn't think that that would come over with the ordibeing glamour, did you?" Jacqueline asked, pouring chocolate milk into her coffee.
"I have yet to be able to sleep, glamours aside, so I assumed."
"Thank goodness it worked for everyone else. Could you imagine if I was walking around with pointed ears still? Fuckin' eh," Jacqueline replied, sipping her atrocious coffee-chocolate-sugar. Thing.
"What should I put in it?"
"Whatever you want!" Dite said. "Do you want it sweet? Have sugar! Milk and cream thicken it and make it cooler and smoother."
"Chocolate milk makes it taste not like caffeine."
"You're so strange," Dite said, endearingly
"Thank you," Jacqueline replied.
"You know what? I'm going to put a bit of everything in it!"
"Everything?" the girls asked, shocked.
"Yeah! I'm going to live a little! What did my neighbour say yesterday? What was it...oh yeah! YOLO. I am going to YOLO."
"Did you hear that Dite? He's going to yolo," Jacqueline said, hiding her face in her cup.
"Be nice!" Dite said, Jacqueline suddenly lunging forward in her seat a bit, her chocolate milk coffee spilling. "Sorry, sorry. I thought that was softer. I can't see them so, you know," she shrugged.
"May I steal your chocolate milk?" Xander asked.
"Yeah, but you're refilling it."
"Of course!" Xander said, pouring the rest of the disguised sprite's chocolate milk into the very close to overfilling cup. "Well, here we go! Cheers!" he said, carefully bringing it up to his lips and taking a very long sip.
"So? What do you think?" Dite asked.
"Wow! Tasty!" he said, and then immediately fell forward, his face landing on the table with a hefty thunk.
Charlie and Cass jumped up, as startled as Amy and Jackie, who were already on either side of Alex, Amy checking for a pulse.
"Is he okay?" Charlie asked.
"He's either dead or sleeping," Jackie said. "That was his first coffee ever," she added with a grimace.
"What did he put in it?" Cass asked.
"EVERYTHING," both girls replied.
"EVERYTHING?"
Amy nodded. "He isn't dead!"
"Oh my god. He's snoring," Jackie said, stunned.
"He's actually asleep!" Amy said, shocked.
"I'm using this for later," Jackie said, taking out her phone and snapping a photo."
"ZzzzZZZzzzz," snored Alex, as the flash went off around him.
Single
Well, it was over.
He was the single last Frost standing.
Mom and Dad? Gone. Off to Rosehaven when this whole stupid war had broken out.
Did they choose to go there? Did Pyros send them there himself? As much as he wanted to believe the latter, he was positive that the pair of them had washed their hands to the mess and fled so as not to deal with the consequences of their actions.
(They should've just gone with the Call all those years ago).
And now Pyros.
Defeated by his own hand, and now sealed into the old castle they had grown up in. Hidden away from the world, both magical and ordinary. Trapped forever. Alone. King of his Castle, which is what he had wanted, anyway.
The Grand Witches finished the seals on the force field, bickering the entire time. A shadow fell over him.
"Blaise?"
He looked up. Mother Nature.
"It's been done," she said in response to his silent, stony look. He nodded, eyes down on the ground.
"Do you need a moment?"
He nodded again.
Mother Nature surveyed him intently. "Girls," she said over her shoulder. "Let's give his majesty a moment, alright?"
"Don't—" Blaise sighed. Whatever. He'd burn that bridge later.
The trio disappeared, leaving Blaise behind at the gates, staring up at Old Frost Castle.
He turned his back to it, leaning on the fence and sliding down, down, down, until he met the ground with a heavy sigh.
"Room for one more?"
He looked up; his heart softened.
"For you? Always," he said, scooting over for the season. Her cool presence was comforting.
"Still the flatterer I see," she said, sinking down beside him, her thin skirt fluttering on the way down.
"Only for you, Miss Winter."
She smiled, her hand gently resting on her collarbone. "I know it's a silly question, but I must ask. Are you okay?" she said, reaching out and touching his shoulder.
"No. Are you?"
"Not at all."
"Can we be not okay together?"
Winter smiled. "For you? Always," she said, giving his shoulder a squeeze before dropping her hands in her lap, ready to listen.
"I was just thinking," Blaise began, "It's just me now. I'm the last Frost standing. They're all gone. My mother and father. My brother. It's just me. The single last Frost." he sighed. "I don't have a house," he realized, with a funny little frown.
"You can stay in the garden, if you'd like. I'm sure Mother wouldn't mind."
"Would your sisters?"
"I don't think so, no."
"And you?"
"Not in the slightest," she said, happy to see the familiar corkscrew grin she was embarrassingly fond of on his face. "We'd all be quite happy for the company. And I think you would too, Blaise dear. You know," Winter continued, scooting even closer to the young would-be King, her knees pressed up against his toasty warm thigh. "You may be the last Frost standing, but you aren't alone," she said. "Family is what you make of it. And even though your parents are gone and your brother is, well," she pointed with her thumb over her shoulder. "You have us! Mother Nature, my sisters, countless other magibeans and myths and legends—"
"I have you," Blaise said warmly, grabbing her hand and squeezing it.
She giggled behind her free hand, squeezing Blaise back. "If you'd like."
"You know I would."
She giggled again. "It's an opportunity for a fresh start," she said, clasping his hand in both of hers. "And isn't that lovely?"
Something was happening, deep in Blaise's chest. It was warm. "It...it kind of is," he realized, that warm feeling intensifying. There was a spark; two, three more. Then a crackle. His hair, flat and dark like burnt out embers on the top of his head, began to glow, the red slowly seeping into the dark. Then WHOOSH!
His hair lit up, a roaring fire on the top of his head.
"I can do so much good!" He realized, talking with his hands. "All of those stupid rules and laws Mom and Dad had—I can get rid of them! I can change them, make it better, make this place better—" his face was growing red; he was blushing, jumping up and pacing with a spring in his step.
Oh, it had been too long since Winter had seen him like this. She had missed it; and if she were able to blush, she would be too. "We can!" he finally said, turning back to Winter, his heart free of the stony confines the War of Succession had put it in.
He held out his hand, eyes crinkling at the corners.
"We?" Winter asked, taking his hand and letting him pull her up.
"My first and ONLY order of business as King, is to get rid of the monarchy. Crystal Springs is a place for everyone; and everyone should be able to have a say in what they want. And I am going to make sure of it," he said, confident.
His hair flickered; he frowned. "Do you think your Mom would be okay with that?"
"Oh, she'll love the idea," Winter said, caressing the summer sprite's face. I love the idea, she thought. "Vive la révolution!" she announced loudly, throwing her fist in the air.
Blaise threw back his head, laughing, the flames on his head reaching heights not suitable for the indoors.
Single last Frost, huh? Well, he thought, pulling Winter along with him and running away from his childhood home, not for very much longer.
hello!! so i dont know why this came to me but it did and i need something written about it(hc or fanfic either works), but just imagine if the little nightmares kids(six, mono and maybe RK) somehow managed to crossover to the undertale multiverse and met the friendly monsters! how do you think they would react? possibly even meeting frisk(you can write this in any of the AUs). i understand if it's too much though!!
Tumblr media
Mono, RK (Runaway kid), and Six go to the Underground
Finally did it, sorry for the wait my dear anon
Mono, RK (Runaway kid), and Six found themselves traveling together after Mono going back to the millions of Tv screens from his adventures to his betrayal and he saw one that didn’t look like the rest, he had never seen another child other than Six
It was a white screen with 4 triangles in each corner with eyes and another blank triangle in the middle, a kid yelled screaming in distress and glitched on and off the screen
Mono went for it but was being dragged by the original screen he was supposed to go through to restart this loop of betrayal, he dragged himself in and ended up on a shaky wooden platform with another child
The kid wore blue garments and had hair that covered his eyes
Mono helped kill the thing in the water and they both traveled through the depths and avoided danger to Mono’s surprise not all creatures were bad (he guesses it was because they were smaller than himself)
Mono found comfort in the Nomes the same as RK did
Once Six killed the Lady they met once again, RK and Mono hand in hand with Nomes at their sides
It was an awkward moment for Mono while for Six all of her Guilt came back and RK was the only one to smile in this interaction, RK not knowing their history tried to introduce Mono but Mono just said they knew each other and RK suggested they travel together
Though Mono didn’t really want to be around Six he wanted to preserve his friendship with RK so he agreed and Six just nodded not saying a word
They traveled for a while and found themselves in the woods where they scaled a mountain, and all fell
Once they became conscious, they found themselves in a bright yellow flower field cushioning their fall, the flowers matched Six’s coat
They got up making sure each other were alright, Mono was the one to make sure no one had serious injuries, he may have some negative feelings towards Six he didn’t want her to die or get hurt, he may not understand why Six did what she did but she must have a reason, right?
They were alone is a scenic place that didn’t look real in their monochrome world, RK held Mono’s hand for comfort and Six only stood there, she didn’t have a close relationship with either of the boys so it was kind of awkward
Six had only seen RK around 3 times not counting when they all met when she killed the Lady, she still had those powers but after leaving the maw they dulled but still there and powerful
They composed themselves and walked around cautiously finding an opening of a courier of some kind and find a single flower on the ground, they dismiss it at first but then they heard a voice behind them and quickly looking behind them
“Howdy! I'm Flowey the flo- AHHH!”
Mono grabbed a stick and threw it at the talking flower and surprised at the loud scream he ears, nothing had been that loud before and being at their level it was surprising but quickly recovered from it
They all backed away from it with caution, rule #1 in life: Never not be cautious
“Why’d you do that f-friend?” it spoke and they just stared at it inching away slowly
Flowey tried to keep himself composed as he tried to control his anger
Mono grabbed a rock ready to punt this flower and Six lit her lighter glaring at the flower under her hood
RK was the only one who didn’t want to start anything that could help them so he called out to Six and Mono to stop though he didn’t say it only an odd noise, Mono and Six stopped and looked to RK with curiosity
They all shared eye contact as RK crosses his arms and they put down their weapons Mono huffs in annoyance of RK’s overflowing compassion but does as he's told, Six slightly grunts but does as told as well but not putting them away still on edge and that was enough for RK
“I-It seems you all quite frightened, why is that? Have you ever seen a flower before?” Flowey tried to lighten the mood to put their guard down, they would be a difficult bunch
“What the heck is a flower?” Mono was the one to answer Flowey and he was surprised by that answer to say the least
“I’m a flower, silly! Now, you're new to the Underground, aren't cha? Golly, you must be so confused. Someone ought to teach you how things work around here! I guess little old me will have to do. Ready? Here we go!” Flower tried a more friendly behavior to lower their guard
Six stood in front of RK when Flowey became too friendly for her liking, Mono found his behavior to be a lot comforting but took RK’s hand and slightly put him behind him
They were then suddenly put in what seemed to be in a black box or large room where it was pitch black but could see each other just fine but then 3 hearts floated above their chests
“See that heart? These are your SOULS, the very culmination of your being-!”
Flowey was not expecting their LV to be so high, Six LV15, Mono LV14, RK LV2…
To think children as young as 10 years old have at least killed another living thing before…
Flowey tried to continue, “Your souls starts off weak, but can grow strong if you gain a lot of LV. What's LV stand for? Why, LOVE of course! You want some LOVE, don't you? Don't worry, I'll share some with you!” They kept close together not separating
“Down here, LOVE is shared through... little white... "Friendliness pellets." Are you ready? Move around! Get as many as you can!” RK was curious and cautious so he only slightly grazed the pellet and it felt like a wasp sting, it hurt and held his hand in pain
“You idiot! In this world, it's kill or BE killed. Why would ANYONE pass up an opportunity like this!?” Dozens more spinning white pellets appear around the three “Die.” Mono and Six stood in a fighting stance but before they did something happened
A fireball appears next to Flowey and knocks him away and instantly RK heals and a large goat-like creature slides in coming towards the three
“What a terrible creature, torturing such poor, innocent youths.” the goat like creature turned to the children crouching down
 “Ah, do not be afraid, my children. I am Toriel, caretaker of the ruins. I pass through this place every day to see if anyone has fallen down. You three are 2nd place in arrival to the ruins, come! I will guide you through the catacombs” Toriel smiled as she held out her warm, the warmth that radiated from her was eminent
RK was the first to take her hand and in a whisper-like voice said, “You won’t hurt us right miss Toriel?” Toriel’s face softened at the question but they could tell that the question made her sadden
“Of course I won’t my child, I can introduce you to another child of mine that is already in my care if you would like?” RK looked over his shoulder to Six and Mono
They looked at each other and they nod slightly and she smiles and leads them through the ruins
Through their venture they meet Frisk a child like them but they were cautious, Six was, Mono was just protective but wasn’t as cautious as Six
They enjoyed their time at miss Toriel’s home
Part II - Addiction
So my first time going in to rehab was Aug 2022 right after breaking up with a 6-month-relationship and having a strong fentanyl and heroin addiction. They sent me to Community Hospital in Indianapolis IN to detox and detox I did to the point where my stools were gummy and I passed out from low blood pressure. 8 days later it was out of my system and I was sent off to Praxis Recovery in Carmel which non-surprisingly is now shut down due to extensive 911 calls, overdoses, staff/client relationships etc. It was a party-house for the most part and an “addict meet&greet”! It worked for me for about 60days and I relapsed and got kicked out of a rehab in Anderson , IN called F.R.O.G. Recovery for having THC in my system which I got from a stupid vape pen. I was working at the time and had to get a hotel. I later on regretted getting that room because someone attacked me and I defended myself , and got charged with cross-domestic. They were going to throw the case out but in Jan I was outside and cold and needed shelter. I went to Wheeler Mission-women’s shelter and some lady grabbed my hat and threw it and someone made a report saying I disgustingly spit on the woman and that I was denied access to the shelter . Then later on I could regain access to the shelter so the case is being pro-longed on to Nov of this year. I’m so nervous and stressed out about these cases. They’re both false charges and should have been dropped upon receiving it.
And to add to the stress I’m homeless and staying at an African male’s house with a Mexican woman until I can get a job, find reliable transportation, and get back and forth to work. This seems easy but I had a few relapses and scared that once I work and see $, I might go buy drugs again. I’m going to the methadone clinic daily and it is requiring my brain not to crave the drugs anymore but at the same time I don’t want to be addicted to the methadone either because I was on it for 8 months once upon a time and went cold turkey for 3 days trying to get off of it. I had the shakes and sweats. It sucked tremendously. I told myself “not ever again” but here we are trying to avoid inpatient rehab and trying to get my life back together alone.
I picked up a side hustle as a phone sex operator and it doesn’t pay very well. Then again, I only put in 20-22 hours a week starting because that’s all the energy I really have for a job at the moment with focusing on getting a staying sober. It truly is one of the toughest things I have to do in my life! And I am going to do it for God, Jesus, my family , myself and people who believe in me or that have lost their loved ones due to addiction. I tried to stop a while ago and began to “glitch” like someone was running their socks on carpet and then “zapping” me in my brain and soul. I got super scared and ended up relapsing that same day. Once I have 14 days consecutive sober , I plan to blog and write about how my brain and body feels because it isn’t easy.
Kindest Regards,
J a s m i n e🐼
Sphinx?
Phinks x Reader - soulmate au
Word count: 1.6k
Warnings: crack fic, cussing, breaking and entering
Author’s Note: this was written for @trassh-senpai for a secret santa gift! First time writing Phinks. It’s pretty cracky, possibly a little ooc for Phinks but 🤷 Let me know what you think!
“Fucking Hell!”
Those words first appeared in a nice crimson color on the inner part of your bicep when you were eight years old. It was written in the worst chicken scratch you’d ever seen, but that didn’t stop you from sounding it out.
“Ffff-uh-ck-ing….Huh-eh-ll. Fuck-ing Hell? Fucking Hell!” you shouted with delight once you finally figured out what it said. Your parents’ souls almost ascended right then and there. They scolded you and did their best to cover up the tattoo because “a child like you should not be associated with such foul language and obscenities”. There were also mummerings of “what kind of path is our child going down?” and “what have we done to deserve this?”. Your parents had always been a little over dramatic.
As you got older, you figured there was a funny story behind your soulmate’s first words to you.
Most of your friends had, in your opinion, boring tattoos. “Oh, excuse me” , “Do you have a pencil I could borrow?”, “What’s the wifi password?”, “I like your hair”, and so on. All boring. All predictable. You were glad that yours was different and wasn’t so expected. It had the makings of a funny story that you would be glad to tell others once you had met your soulmate.
Today was not the day. The bakery you normally go to was out of your favorite sweet treats, the salon cancelled your hair appointment last minute, and you received an email from your professor saying that you needed to retake your midterm as something on his end had glitched and prevented him from seeing your answers. The one saving grace was that you were able to snag one of the last loaves of the good bread at the bakery. You were in a hurry to get home in order to put this awful day behind you, when a brute of a man slammed his shoulder into you. Normally, you would just ignore it and keep going. But not only did your shoulder ache, your loaf of bread had been crushed. That was the final straw.
“Hey, buddy! Why don’t you watch where you’re going? You rude ass Gucci wannabe,” you yelled at the back of the man who practically mowed you over.
He stopped dead in his tracks and turned to look at you.
“Fucking Hell!’
Your bicep burned as the blond man scowled the phrase etched on your arm. You pulled your arm out of your sweater sleeve and pulled up your t-shirt sleeve to see that the tattoo had changed from crimson to black, as if it had been solidified.
The man also pulled his arm out of his jacket sleeve and tattooed on his bicep in your handwriting was the angry phrase you had just uttered.
“Wait. You? You’ve absolutely got to be kidding me!” you did not have time for this today.
He grabbed you by the arm and dragged you to the opening of an alleyway.
“Do you know how much shit I get for this tattoo every day?”
“Well, maybe if you weren’t so RUDE, you’d have a very different tattoo, yeah?”
He rolled his eyes, the scowl remaining on his face.
“If you’re not careful, your face will get stuck like that,” you tried to lighten the situation, but when his face stayed the exact same, you decided to just keep flaming the fire. “What’s your name, Gucci man?”
His face turned red. “Not fuckin’ Gucci man.”
“Ugh, fine. I’ll start. My name is ______. And your name is…,” you elongated the last word waiting for him to answer.
“Phinks,” he said through gritted teeth.
“What was that? Pinks?”
“Phinks!” he said with a little more authority in his voice.
“Okay, well Sphinx, you owe me another loaf of bread. Let’s go,” you grabbed his wrist and began to drag him back to the bakery. You had expected he would put up a little more resistance, but he willingly let you drag him.
Luckily, the bakery still had one loaf left and you were able to grab it.
“Alright, you got your stupid bread. Let’s go,” he said as he began to walk out.
“Hold on there, bud. You’re paying for this.”
“The hell I am, just walk out. I ain’t paying for your stupid bread,” he turned again, but you snatched his wrist.
“Phinks, don’t make a scene. Just pay the people. You DO have money, right?”
“What kinda stupid question...yeah, I got money-”
“Then get it out.”
“I ain’t-”
“Now.”
He huffed and rolled his eyes while pulling out a handful of bunched up bills and some random coins. He dropped it on the counter and walked out.
“Hold on, sir. This is too much!” the assistant tried to stop him.
“I’ll give it back to him, sorry about that,” you gave them a smile and ran after the grumpy man.
“Dude, what’s your problem? Here’s your change,” you shoved the money into his hand.
Phinks stood there for a few moments staring at the money you had just put back into his hand, a scowl plastered all over his face.
“I’m sorry if I came off too strong in there. I have a tendency to say whatever’s on my mind and if I embarrassed you, then I’m sorry,” you tried your best to sound sincere. You were being sincere, but you also weren’t going to tolerate a grown man acting so childish.
He opened his mouth, but before any words came out, a short man appeared out of nowhere.
“Phinks, you’re late. We were supposed to meet at the old factory 20 minutes ago.”
“Yeah, sorry. I got...caught up with something. Give me 2 minutes.”
The short man nodded and disappeared into a nearby alley.
“Look, I wasn’t expecting to meet my soulmate today. Wasn’t actually ever expecting to meet you ever. But here you are. And I would like to get to know ya. You seem...alright. Like you can hold your own,” his face was turning red as he was staring at the ground.
“Yeah, I think we got off on the wrong foot. We can exchange phone numbers or something.”
“Phinks!” the voice from the alley shouted.
“I’ll see ya around, ______.”
You blinked and he was gone. It seemed that he was trying to let you down easy. You hugged your loaf of bread on the walk home, trying to make sense of your encounter.
The sun was shining through your bedroom window and the smell of coffee filled your apartment. You didn’t remember setting the automatic timer for the coffee pot or even preparing it, but yesterday had been so bizarre that you figured you had forgotten about the coffee. Preparing for a lazy day ahead of you, you threw on your most comfortable sweatpants and an oversized t-shirt. You headed toward the kitchen to pour yourself some coffee and start making some breakfast. In the middle of the counter were some droopy flowers and a partially smashed box of donuts. The blond haired man from yesterday walked into the kitchen just as you noticed his gifts.
You spat out your coffee, “Fucking hell! Sphinx! What the fuck, dude? What the-how the hell did you get in here?”
“Damn, calm down darlin’. I was just tryin’ to apologize,” he grabbed some paper towels and started cleaning up the mess you just made.
“How did you find me?” you asked, still in disbelief that he was standing in your kitchen.
“You weren’t that hard to track down, babe. You, uh, left this behind yesterday,” he held up your driver’s license.
How did that get left behind? You thought to yourself.
“Anyway, I need you to come with me. My boss wants to meet you,” he mumbled as his cheeks began to turn pink.
“Phinks, I don’t even know what you do. Why would your boss want to meet me?”
“Listen, ______. Here’s the thing. Either you come with me and we can be together like we’re supposed to or you’ll never see me again. There is no domestic lifestyle for me. And you can either accept that and leave this behind or you keep what you have going on, but leave me behind.”
This was all so sudden and you weren’t sure how you were supposed to react. Your soulmate, whom you had just met yesterday, was telling you that you had to leave everything you knew behind if you wanted to be with him.
“There must be a reason why we’re soulmates. I’d like to think it’s because we’re able to really understand each other,” he grabbed your hands and held them in his. “I would never let anything bad happen to you. I know I’m a little rough around the edges, but I can make a good life for us. There are plenty of good things I’ve missed out on, but you are one thing I don’t want to have to miss out on.”
You stared at your hands and his hands intertwined. It felt right. It felt safe.
“Please, ______,” his hands moved to cup your face. His eyes were intense and sincere. What did you have to lose taking a chance on him? You leaned up and as soon as your lips met, it felt as though sparks were flying around the two of you.
“Let me go change and get some things packed up, Sphinx.”
“Oh, you don’t need any clothes. I got you a matching tracksuit.”
Your eyes widened in horror as you did NOT want to be seen in a tracksuit, let alone a MATCHING tracksuit.
“That’s only a joke, babe. Go grab some stuff. I’ll wait right here.”
Angel Reyes X Reader
He had hurt you before so what was causing you a little more pain now to avoid future hurt?
I’ve hit day 5 of 10 straight work days and the back pain is lethal!! I don’t know how I managed to work an 8 hour shift yesterday and write 5 fics... Creeper, Taza, Coco and Ez will be coming this week.
Part 2, Part 3
Masterlist
Warning: Slight season 3 spoilers
---
This wasn’t exactly how you had pictured this night going, sitting on the bed you shared with Angel unable to stop the stray stream of tears flowing from your eyes no matter how hard you tried. Stuff had been... Rough? Or maybe that was just a nice way to put it because life had been utter shit lately but you couldn’t bring yourself to actually do anything to change that.
Your day had started off well, your class of kindergarten students had blown you away with their meaningful art projects for their parents so when you arrived home with a full heart you had decided to take the chance of going to the clubhouse to spend a little time with Angel, most nights the guys were just sitting around drinking anyway.
There were plenty of people milling around the clubhouse when you had arrived meaning that tonight was a party night, maybe Angel’s mood would be looser than usual with all the drinks that had been flowing. You couldn’t spot Angel anywhere in the crowd but you had seen his bike outside so you knew that he was around somewhere, you had spotted his younger brother though. EZ was sitting by the bar, the last time you had been to a party he had still been a prospect but now as a full-patched member of the club, it was nice to see him able to enjoy himself. The smile slowly slipped off his face as he spotted you approaching him and the bar, he offered you his unopened beer and you thanked him with a smile.
“It’s been a while since you’ve come around.”
“I’ve had a lot going on,” You were quick to deflect the ache in your chest as the fact that Angel never invited you to parties anymore weighed heavy on your mind.
“I’ve got an announcement to make!” The booming voice of your boyfriend pulled everyone’s attention onto him, “We’re having a baby!”
The announcement was news to you, the even bigger news was the woman standing at his side that was not you. At first, you thought that maybe your brain was glitching, that this was all just a dream while you were most definitely awake but the gleam of a familiar ring on the woman’s finger caught your eye and the breath was knocked out of your lungs. The ring had once belonged to his mother and for so many years it was being promised to end up on your finger once the time was right.
“Y/N?” EZ’s voice sounded muffled in your ears as he gently squeezed your shoulder.
You were quick to shove off his touch, how long had he known that this had been going on? Did he not have the decency to tell you that your boyfriend was once again being unfaithful? “Don’t touch me.”
It was the shattering of the beer bottle hitting the ground after you accidentally knocked it off the bar top that captured everyone’s attention next. Angel’s eyes were locked on you as pure sadness swam through his eyes, the woman beside him looked genuinely confused as whispers began to overwhelm the clubhouse. All of the hushed voices rushed to your ears, the clicking of your heeled boots as you rushed through the door cutting through their words like knives.
You and Angel had met in your freshmen year of high school, becoming best friends and eventually dating in your senior year. You had stuck by him in Santo Padre through the death of his mother, the incarceration of his baby brother and his prospecting days. Things had been great until one day a little less than a year ago, a federal agent named Lincoln Potter had spilled the beans about Angel’s love child to you during an interrogation in hopes that it would help get you to flip on the Reyes brothers and the M.C, you did not of course. You could remember arriving home that night like it was yesterday, confronting the love of your life about his loyalty before he came clean about his entire relationship with Adelita. It had torn you apart but you kept telling yourself that you loved Angel and together you could get through this.
You entered your shared apartment, digging your suitcase out of the back of your closet and throwing all of your belongings into it. The dizziness hitting you like a ton of bricks as your emotions took control, you sat on the edge of the bed with your head resting in your hands as you tried to collect your bearings when it had dawned on you… the reason you had stayed with Angel the first time he had broken your heart and why you were hesitating now- you had nowhere else to go.
Your fresh sobs drowned out the sound of the front door slamming open, Angel desperate to find you in the now torn apart apartment. Even though he had failed you as a boyfriend the two of you had always been friends first, and if he was being honest he had no idea why you stayed by his side after everything that happened with Adelita- you didn’t deserve that and if you were not going to leave him yourself then he had just given you a reason to cut your losses and move on before he had the chance to cause you an entire lifetime of pain. He halted in the bedroom doorway, the last time he had seen you cry like that was when your grandfather, the man that had raised you passed away three years ago. You glanced up, attempting to wipe away your tears and the streams of mascara from your cheeks with the sleeve of your sweater.
“I have no place to go.”
Angel slowly stepped into the room, gently seating himself on the bed next to you as you cried. He threw his arm over your shoulder, tugging your head to rest on his shoulder as his own heart broke in his chest, he gone through with his plan to save you from future hurt but he had not anticipated all the other fall out you’d feel in the meantime.
G-Bots (TM)
Tumblr media
Googleplier (x4) x viewer!reader
ty anon for the request!
A/N: Funny story! I am no longer physically capable of writing normally! I tried so hard to be normal and just veered off into SCP/Cryptid viewer territory because I like expanding on the idea that the viewer is Not Human! Anyways, you’re hanging out with the Googles. That is it. Nothing is wrong. You do not recognize the bodies in the water haha anyways I think I like went a little creepypasta-esque at the end there but it’s fine I think probably. It’s fine. Might be a little weird in terms of story, but i think this was more focused on world building to me. Probably seen as more platonic than romantic, but see it however you wish. Enjoy!
G-Bots (TM)
You wheezed just a bit as you sped through wherever-the-fuck you were. Sure, maybe that was a bad idea. Sure, Dark was a little bit threatening and SURE, you were supposed to be back by now, and the fact that you weren’t back with Mark trying to convince him NOT to split up was the tiniest bit problematic. You weren’t even sure this was a building? Were you in the void? Goddammit, not again…
You stopped, concluding that this was bullshit and you did not want to do it right now. You bent over, hands on your knees and took deep breaths. You stared into the emptiness for a bit, then looked around for a moment, just trying to figure things out. You needed to reassess. It was basically one big, long hallway with random twists and terms every few meters. You’d always end up back at the paintings of… them… and knew you’d gone too far. You did that over, and over, and over again. At this point you thought Dark had just forgotten about you. You took a deep breath in and let it out. You stood up straight and looked up at the paintings. You heard their voices echo through your head a bit. You squeezed your eyes shut and your head twitched.
“You’re alright… you’re ok… cool it…” You whispered to yourself. Deep breath in, deep breath out. Meditate. Think.
You looked on either side of the hall and, for the first time, you noticed doors extending down into the void and not stopping. You let out a breath. You felt a slight sense of dread. Something was telling you not to enter the rooms. Some little voice in the back of your head that sounded suspiciously like Mark. But, hey, what else were you gonna do?
“Ok… do i want to enter the door on the left or the door on the right?” You asked yourself. You paused to think about it. After a few seconds you felt yourself jerk forward a bit. Your brain felt staticy and you felt compelled to the left. You turned the knob and opened the door slightly. Immediately you heard music that might be in an SCP game, and a voice that sounded suspiciously like “do you recognize the bodies in the water?”. You were hoping no, and you bailed before you had a chance to look. You ended up almost exactly in your previous position in the hall. Your brain felt fuzzy again, and this time you gravitated to the right. You opened the door just a little, maybe to see what was inside, but again you heard the SCP ambiance.
But this time it was from behind you. So, like any smart person, you swung the door open, slammed it behind you and did your best to lock it. But there was no lock. So you stood. Waiting. Nothing happened.
Of course nothing happened. Why would anything happen? Dark wouldn’t want you to get hurt… probably. This was his domain. Probably. If you were alive, it’s because he wanted you to be. If you were in this room, it’s because he wanted you to be.
Speaking of: Where the hell were you?
You turned around to look behind you. In the blank white room there was a single grey couch with all 4 Google androids sitting on it. Apparently they were recharging, because they hadn’t noticed you standing there and also they were plugged into an outlet in the wall. You hadn’t considered that they had to physically plug into something to charge up, but the thought made you snort.
Bad idea.
All of their eyes snapped open at once, revealing the glow of their assigned colors. They all stood up and began walking towards you in unison. You felt a slight sense of dread. Even so, you tried to grab the doorknob, the one that apparently was no longer there, and cursed under your breath when you could only feel the smooth wall behind you. The androids stopped, staring at you. You cleared your throat.
“Hey…” you laughed nervously, “So, uh, funny story, actually-”
“You are not supposed to be here,” The original Googleplier, Blue, stated.
“Well, see, that’s where this whole thing started, um, see, Mark wanted to split up-”
“No human is allowed inside of this room, and not you, either.”
“Well-” You stopped, processing what he said, “Wait. ‘Either’? I’m human.”
“No, you’re not,” Google Green said. You wanted to be offended, but you were more confused.
“What do you mean? I’m human!” You argued.
“What color’s your hair?” Red asked with a mean smirk on his face. You opened your mouth to respond, and an amalgamate of voices saying “BROWNBLACKBLONDEWHITERED” came out. You slapped a hand over your mouth.
“... what the hell was that?” Your muffled voice whispered. Well, you thought it was probably yours.
“What’s your eye color?” BROWNGREENBLUEAMBERYELLOW exited your being before you could even try to answer.
“Do you have any pets?” That one just ended with a computer error sound from you.
“... huh.” You dropped your shoulders a little. The revelation probably should’ve upset you more.
“What are you doing here?”
“I… do not recognize the bodies in the water.” You explained.
“Ah, I see. Darkiplier would want you to not die, therefore you may stay.”
“Ha. Wow. Who knew the Googleplier androids-”
“G-Bots.”
“... what?”
“We are legally not allowed to use the name ‘Google’ anymore. We are now G-Bots.”
“... legally.”
“We were discontinued. And sold. And signed a contract.”
“So does that mean I can’t call you Google anymore?”
“No, that is simply my name. The name of us as androids, however, is now G-Bots.”
“Ok. What about them?” You pointed to the other three.
“Yellow is Oliver, Green is Lee, Red is Elliott.”
“And you’re just Google?”
“They’ve been trying to change my name to Gregor. I deeply dislike it.”
“It’s a good name.” Oliver suggested, smiling.
“Means vigilant.” Lee shrugged.
“Don’t be a pussy, Greg.” Elliott adopted a shit-eating grin as he leaned a little closer to Google.
“You can do… whatever you wish. Just do not be like them, DA.” Google instructed through gritted teeth.
The room began to shift color and expand. The couch was still grey in the center, but there were now four sections of each of the colors. The yellow section was filled with flowers, with a laptop on a desk next to a switch and a little Vector robot sitting by on the windowsill that showed a colorful meadow with bees buzzing to and fro. It glitched for a moment, so you knew the window wasn’t real. The green section had large houseplants and looked a bit like a greenhouse, and had an Xbox hooked up to a TV in the corner and seemed to have a view of a lake in the faux-window. The red section had miscellaneous wires and computer parts and lights here and there, looking like a fire hazard, and a PC on a table, while the window showed what appeared to be space. Google’s section was absolutely spotless, not a single thing anywhere, apart from a tiny skateboard next to a PS4 in the corner, and the window showed computer code.
“Wow.” You said. You might be stuck here for a while, so you might as well enjoy it.
Though you wondered who DA was. -- You hate to say it, but you had a favorite G Bot. It was kind of like having a favorite child, in your mind. You felt like they somehow knew that you had a favorite, but you didn’t know why.
Oliver was the sweetest by far, immediately going to make you as comfortable or entertained as possible while you were with him. He asked you if you wanted to watch something, if you wanted to play a game, if you were hungry, etc. It was kind of like going over to a friend’s house for the first time. He was enthusiastic to the point where he was shaking with anxiety over wanting to make you happy. You thought he didn’t get many visitors and maybe that was why. He showed you his flowers, and the bees, and a small painting in the corner, hoping for  validation. His glowing eyes seemed to dull when you moved on to the next section, but said you’d visit him again. That did help, but he turned away sadly and went to water his flowers.
Lee seemed as though he couldn’t care less if you were there. He told you where everything was and that you could do whatever. If you asked for help, he would stop what he was doing and help you. Once you understood, he immediately resumed his previous task. He was a bit cold, like Google, but in a “I am very busy but I am still here if you need me” sort of way. He played a game or two with you, having a preference for the puzzle games more than anything else. Puzzle horror, more specifically. If there was a shooting part, he immediately shoved the controller into your hands, saying he didn’t want to do that part. When you left, he simply continued with his work without a goodbye.
Elliott tried so hard to ignore you for the longest time. You could hear him scoff and growl anytime you made any sort of noise. You were self conscious at first, but you came to understand that he was just an asshole. You started on a game, playing for a few minutes, and felt the red couch sink next to you because he had sat down next to you. If he thought you sucked (which he did) he would snatch the controller from you and finish whatever you were doing before giving it back. He refused to say anything or help you, either. He’d just make rude noises and walk away occasionally before coming back. When you left, he seemed a lot angrier than he had before, and wouldn’t say goodbye to you. He turned away with a huff and started pressing random buttons on the controller.
Google was by far the least interested in anything you had to do. You sat on the couch next to him, and he didn’t move an inch. You sat there for a bit, waiting, but he did not move. You stood up, walked around, messed with a few things, attempted to play a game or two. Google didn’t move. You pulled up the Gamer ChairTM and sat directly in front of Google, arms crossed. You sighed. Finally, he looked up at you.
“Is there something you need?” He asked in that monotone voice of his.
“I’m bored,” you said.
“Go to one of the others,” He closed his eyes.
“What are you doing?” You asked, curious.
“That is not-” He sounded exasperated.
“Hey Google, what are you doing?” You interrupted like the little shit you were
“Currently, this G Bot system is recharging its battery. This G Bot is at: 69%.” He shifted to a purely robotic voice.
“Haha nice.”
“This G Bot’s primary objective is to answer questions as quickly as possible. Would you like to ask a question?”
“Yes. What do you like to do, Google?”
“I enjoy answering your questions. Do you have any more?”
“What company owns you?”
“G-Bots were recently sold by the Google company to Warfstache Incorporated.”
“Wilford has a company?”
“Warfstache Incorporated is co-owned by Wilford ‘Motherloving’ Warfstache and Damien-Dami-Da-Darkiplier.” He glitched while answering.
“Who’s Damie-”
“The Corporation owns shows such as ‘Markiplier TV’, ‘Warfstache Tonight!’, and ‘Hire My Ass’. Do you have any more questions?”
“Do you pass the Turing Test?”
“Wondering if you have to treat me with basic decency?” He shifted back to his less robotic, but still monotone, voice.
“No. Just wondering.”
Neither of you spoke again for a while. He did scold you when you tried to move the couch with him still on it, so… progress. -- You were beginning to suspect that Google didn’t like you very much.
The blue one. Google. The other ones liked you. Oliver ranted to you for a whole half hour about different kinds of bugs and the hierarchy of bees. The queen is assassinated when she is bad for the hive, it would seem. Lee made you play Resident Evil with him because he didn’t like the fighting, but he liked figuring out what to do. You frantically passed controllers back and forth a lot. Elliott basically did speedruns of several games, you watching intently the whole time. He seemed to like the attention and actually smiled at you whenever he finished one.
But Google didn’t like you. He ignored you, and told you not to touch anything, and scowled whenever you asked him personal questions. Not like “what’s your sexuality” type of personal questions. More like… “what’s your favorite color and why is it blue” sort of questions. He didn’t like them either way.
But the others liked you, and that was pretty neat.
You still wanted Google to like you though.
“Hey Google,” he perked up with the little “do-do!” noise, “Can you guys go into your different sections?”
“All G-Bots have the ability to pass into other’s color-coordinated sections,” He answered politely.
“Why don’t you?”
“We don’t want to.”
“Do you get along?”
“Yes.”
“Then why don’t you?”
“Celine dislikes when colors are mismatched.”
“Who’s-”
“I’m sorry, this G Bot needs to charge.”
“But you haven’t been-”
“This G Bot needs to charge.”
“Come on, if you--”
“This G Bot needs to charge.”
You quieted and plopped into the chair. You stared at Google. His eyes flickered for a moment before they closed. -- The other Bots knew who Celine and Damien were, they just weren’t telling you. Their eyes always flickered when you asked, but they wouldn’t tell you.
You threatened not to play with Lee anymore. He said he could play on his own. You could see that he didn’t want to. You played Alien: Isolation. His eyes seemed duller.
You threatened not to watch Elliott’s speedruns. He said he didn’t care. You could tell that he did. You watched him play Hollow Knight. His eyes seemed duller.
You threatened not to listen to Oliver’s rants. He looked terrified, but he said that was fine. You could tell it wasn’t. You begged him to tell you. He looked sad.
“Who’s Damien?” You asked softly, stepping towards him.
“I can’t tell you,” He shifted back.
“Who’s Celine?” You stepped forward.
“I can’t tell you.”
“Who’s DA?”
All of the G-Bots stopped what they were doing. You heard static and felt like you were being watched. -- You looked up at the color on the outside of the museum.
You were doing something. You were doing something.
Were you robbing this place? It felt like you were. What happened to Mark? What happened… to you?
You stared at the doors, feeling a slight sense of dread. Something in the back of your head was telling you this wasn’t right. To go home. To…
The streets were quiet as you walked to the bookstore. Your bag was heavy in your hand and the sun danced around you, creating a blinding sort of glow on the pavement beneath your feet. You passed modern coffee shops and tall skyscrapers alike, buildings becoming more and more modern the longer you walked. All right angles, smooth surfaces and tinted windows glinting in the morning sun. It was only your second day on the job, but the route was already familiar to you, after having visited the bookstore quite often over the few years you’d been living in the city.
The tingling sounds of the old bell above the door fell around you like snowflakes as you stepped inside. It was quite literally like stepping into another realm. The floor was paved with stone tiles, little shoots of green peaking up between them here and there. The glass walls were lined with creepers and bookshelves alike and the glass roof allowed for the rays of sunlight to poke through the trees’ branches above.
Your eyes were pulled to Jisoo after her voice called to you from behind the cash register.  “Good morning!” she said, eyes bright and her voice chipper.
She gave you a short list of things to do before opening the store while she did some admin in the back room. You rearranged bookshelves, tidied the seating area in the centre of the room, fluffing up the old embroidered cushions and wiping the coffee stain off the old wooden table. Once you heard the old clock near the counter sing its tune to signal the hour, you walked over to the door to flip the sign that hung there.
The day went by slowly, with barely any customers walking through the doors. You were half asleep at the register when you heard the bell at the door ring and you sat up from your crunched up position on the old stool. You blinked a few times in an attempt to wake yourself up completely, but your eyes widened when they focused on the person at the door.
You nearly thought it was a scene out of a drama. He walked in, and you swore you saw a curl of wind rush past him and fuss with his hair. Everything around him went out of focus — all your attention honed in on him. He had a white t-shirt on with a loose, light blue button up draped over his shoulders. His hair had to have been dyed, with the depth of the black that coated the strands, but it was still glimmering nonetheless.
You were paying attention to everything he did as he walked towards you, so luckily for you, you caught his words even through your haze.
“Hey, are you new here?” you finally noticed that he held a big cardboard box in his arms, fingers curled around the front, with the bottom of it resting on his forearms.
You opened your mouth to answer, but before any sort of sound could pour out, Jisoo came out from the back room. You were grateful for the interruption, seeing as you weren’t sure you could function correctly just then.
“This is only her second day, Jaemin,” she said, throwing him a knowing glance from the corner of her eye and taking the box from him, “don’t scare her off.”
“Now how would I ever scare someone off?” he leaned on the end of the counter, eyes following Jisoo’s form into the back room again.
The arm that wasn’t leaning on the dark wooden counter was hanging limply from his shoulder, his whole body conveying defeat from the forward curve of his spine to the slack of his jaw.
“You nearly knocked over an entire shelf of books on your first delivery here,” yelled Jisoo, still from the back room.
“I was nervous!” he straightened his posture, his hand now flat in front of you and his arm outstretched, “Anyways I better get going.”
He looked at you as he said it and you noticed the way the glint in his eyes seemed to dance and swirl around until he completely focused on you.
“I’m Y/n, by the way,” you forced an arm out along with your words.
He took your hand gently and squeezed it, “I’m Jaemin. I don’t think I’ve ever shaken someone’s hand before. At least not someone my age.”
His tone seemed sincere, not teasing or judgemental — purely observational. He threw you a smile before walking out the door again. His light blue shirt billowing behind him when he opened the door.
“Don’t mind him,” Jisoo said, walking out into the store again with a pile of books in her hands, “he’s insanely annoying, but honestly it’s either him or the old guy who smells like mould. That smell hangs around even after he’s gone.”
Jaemin came back a few days later, no box in his arms this time and a black hoodie on his frame. He usually came once every week with a box in hand and his bright smile stretched out on his face. Some days he was there and gone within the blink of an eye and other days he hovered around the store, gabbering about anything and everything. Sometimes he came into the shop empty handed: no box full of books to deliver. Jisoo seemed surprised the first time it happened, pulling a face akin to one a girl looking at her brother who just barged into her room unannounced would wear. She said nothing of it, however, so neither did you.
One night at 9pm when you were left alone to close the store, he came rushing down the road in his company van and stumbled out onto the concrete. His hair was already messed up before the wind hit it, most likely from his running his hands through it as he so often did.
‘How does it still look so soft?’
“Please tell me I’m not too late?” he said when he was close enough to not have to yell over the wind.
“Hm?” you widened your eyes and leaned your head forward, trying to get yourself to pay attention to his words instead of the glow of his skin under the streetlights.
“If I have to take another delivery back because I missed it Mr. Yoo might kill me,” he said, his eyes held a plea in them.
“Oh,” you turned back, fiddling for the key in your bag, “Sure let me just open up again.”
“You’re a lifesaver,” he said, setting the box down on the counter after refusing to let you carry it into the store.
“I opened a door Jaemin,” you said, scoffing at him from the door, “it’s nothing. Plus, it’s worth it if it means your boss won’t kill you— What are you doing?”
“I’m helping,” he was faced away from you, hands working at (aggressively) opening the package.
You huffed and set your bag down next to you before walking over to him. You peered over his shoulder, catching a whiff of his cologne. It smelled fresh but sweet. He’d already taken half the books out and piled them on the counter and one or two had fallen down onto the lower half that formed the desk at which you’d fallen asleep at least five times that week.
“You actually just look like you’re making a mess, Jaem,” you pulled your bottom lip in between your teeth and looked up at him through your eyelashes.
He tried his best not to let the shy smile slither onto his face, “Then tell me where to put them.”
He turned around, obviously underestimating your proximity. You were only about five centimeters away from him — at most. He could count your eyelashes if he wanted to, and goodness knows he was tempted to. Anything to be able to look at you for a little longer.
Your heart beat sporadically in your chest, his energy making your system go haywire. You reached behind him to grab one of the books and pulled it towards your chest.
“You don’t have to help. I can do it myself,” you couldn’t find it in yourself to move, you hoped it looked like you were standing your ground and not like you were stuck in your place from the shock of being so close to him.
“I want to,” you swore his eyes glitched — or yours did — because you saw him steal a glance at your lips.
You turned around swiftly before you could think about it anymore, “Alright, it’s organised by genre but these are all just restocks so you can take a few of these to the back.”
It took less time than you thought to pack everything away and enter the stock on the system, nearly half the time it usually took you by yourself. Jaemin was a lot more helpful than you thought he would, and he was a lot stronger than he looked, too.
“Do you want a ride home?” came his voice from behind you as he reached over you to put the last book on a shelf.
“Uh, I’ll be fine by myself,” you said, walking away from the shelf to get your bag again and sling it over your shoulder.
“I need to say thanks for taking the delivery, though,” his hands were back in the pockets of his black skinny jeans. His gaze floated over to you, the bottom lid of his eyes slightly swollen with sincerity.
“You already helped me put the books away, you’ve done more than enough—”
“But, I did make you stay late. And the city’s not safe at this hour.”
You sighed in defeat and readjusted your bag. You did hate walking at night and you’d been on your feet most of the day, so perhaps it wasn’t the worst idea to accept the lift home.
He grinned when you accepted and led you over to the van and you tried not to make a comment about getting into a van with a stranger.
You’d been driving for about ten minutes when you signalled for Jaemin to pull over in front of your apartment building. You reached for the door handle to let yourself out of the car once it came to a stop, but before you could, a hand caught your upper arm.
“Y/n…” he trailed off, eyes on the bend of your elbow.
You waited a moment, “Jaemin?”
And when he didn’t answer, you waved a hand in front of his face.
“Hmm? Oh,” he blinked out of his state and looked at you once again, “Uh, never mind.”
Your brows gathered like the ruffles on a dress but you gave him a moment before he let go of your arm, “You’ve been watching too many dramas, Jaemin. What were you going to say?”
He seemed taken aback at first, your directness not something he had anticipated. But then he smiled.
“I was going to ask if you wanted to hang out sometime,” his shyness was almost gone now, your honesty pulling it away from him.
“And? Do you still want to?”
“Yes.”
Your calm façade faltered when he handed you his phone and told you to put your number in it. His fingers brushed yours and you nearly shivered from the contact. However, you managed to hide it during your swift turn away from him.
He texted you as soon as you got into your apartment. You sat in bed for hours, hands grasping your phone. You only needed to wait a few seconds at a time for his replies. Your body hurt from being pushed into the mattress in such an awkward position, but you barely noticed it. Until it reached 3am that is. You had to force yourself to stop replying after the third time you’d sent a  “goodnight, i’m actually leaving this time” text. You lay there for a  while before you drifted off, thoughts of Jaemin floating through your mind.
Waking up the next morning was one of the hardest things you’d done in a while. Your eyelids felt puffy — you could feel them around your eyeballs everytime you blinked — and your neck hurt from being held up to look at your phone all night. The only reason you wound up going into work was because of one of Jaemin’s texts from last night:
“I’ll come by the bookshop after work sometime this week and we can have that date.”
“I mean hang out*! Unless you’re okay with it being a date? Bc I’d like that.”
                                                                            —
None of the drinks in the convenience store looked like the one you wanted, or even close to it. Green, orange and yellow bottles lined the refrigerated shelves and you had no interest in any of them. You’d been standing at the back of the store in front of the refrigerators for a few minutes too long and at this point it was probably getting strange for the cashier. If they were even looking, that is. You realised in your short time in the retail industry that the cashiers are never looking at the customers. Most of the time they were zoned out, or on their phones and not watching the customer’s every move, though it still felt like it. You faintly heard the door swing open, but your eyes remained glued to the drinks on the other side of the glass, and your thoughts most definitely not on your surroundings.
Jaemin hadn’t been to the store in three days and he hadn’t texted you since yesterday. As much as you hated to admit it, that boy had got into your head and so, too, had insecurity. Though your rational mind tried to explain the number of reasons he hadn’t been able to come, your irrational mind seemed to be winning in thinking that he was tired of you. It was absurd that you were having this crisis in the middle of the juice aisle of a 7 Eleven at 10pm and you knew it. You also knew he probably had a busy day at work, he’d even told you last week how busy Wednesdays were for some reason, in fact he’d complained for almost ten minutes while you sat staring at the fluffy ends of his hair. But what could you have done to drive him away? Maybe it was the staring…
“This is getting painful.”
And now you were hearing his voice everywhere. It really was time for you to go home. Take a nap. Maybe it was exhaustion talking. After all, you had stayed up late talking to him last night and you had to get up extra early because you were the one opening the shop.
“Just take the pineapple one.” No, that had to be Jaemin.
You whipped around then when the realisation hit you, however, you still stumbled back a bit when you saw it was his figure standing behind you in the aisle.
“What?” Your brain was still cloudy from all the thoughts swirling around it previously, though they’d completely disappeared now that Jaemin was within your line of sight.
“Take the pineapple soda,” he said again, a giant, perfect smile on his face.
“I don’t like pineapple,” you said, gears in your head finally working again, “I was looking for—”
“Please don’t say strawberry,” he hung his shoulders when he saw the sly grin that crept its way onto your face. “Why does everyone love strawberry so much? It tastes like medicine.”
He took you by the hand and pulled you towards the door, passing the very much unconscious cashier on the way out.
“Where are you taking me to?” Your hand was limp in his, you didn’t have the confidence quite yet to be able to grip his hand back.
“That place never has strawberry soda, I’m taking you somewhere that does,” he didn’t let go of your hand for a second.
You watched him as he walked slightly ahead of you, his hair bouncing as he walked. He was wearing a ring, though you couldn’t see exactly what it was in the streetlights’ glow. It was cold against your skin despite his own skin being warm as well.
You walked for a few  minutes before Jaemin’s head suddenly perked up like a puppy who’d heard its name being called.
“Do you hear music?” he asked, whipping his head around in an attempt to find where the waves of music were coming from.
“It must be from the park down that way,” you pointed past Jaemin, to the road on your right.
Jaemin grinned and pulled you with him down the empty road. The park came into view and you saw what seemed to be the remains of a festival. People were littered around the centre of the park, surrounded by cherry blossom trees. Some were gazing up at the sparkling lights tangled among the branches, and others were dancing to the music playing.
Jaemin’s grin widened and he turned to you with bright eyes and a pleading expression on his face.
“I thought we were getting soda,” you said, with a smile on your face that told him there was no way you could say ’no.’
“Just ten minutes?” Jaemin bit his bottom lip in excitement as soon as he finished his sentence, he already knew your answer.
“Fine.”
By the time you got the word out, he was already pulling you after him to the row of trees.
Once you were on the path, beautiful trees surrounding you, Jaemin slowed down and craned his neck to look up. He squeezed your hand in order to get you to look up at the trees as well. Clouds of pink petals collected around the branches, and the lights shone like stars among them. The music and faint sound of cars filled your ears and the smell of freshly cooked food floated through the air.
“I’ve never been to one of these festivals at night,” you said, turning your head to the side to look at him instead.
Your words tore his eyes away from the view above, “Really?”
You nodded your head simply and the two of you continued walking in comfortable silence. Every now and then, drops of water fell from the trees above you like rain from the clouds, most likely from the rain that had run through the city earlier in the day. The music floated around your head, it was a song you didn’t remember the name of but the beat was familiar and it caused you to nod your head to the tune. Jaemin sensed the nodding of your head and did his best to hide his smile by looking down at the paved ground below him.
His gaze was brought back to you, though, when he heard a light giggle. Jaemin’s eyes followed your line of sight and found that you were looking at two kids dancing to the music. They bounced about with no sense of the rhythm of the music, giant smiles on their faces. He felt as though he was in the ending shot of a drama, a freeze frame centred on the main character, the background out of focus and the edges of the screen twinkling. Jaemin wanted so desperately to ask you to dance. Right there. In the middle of the park. And he considered doing it, too.
Just then, your smile widened as the two children began twirling aimlessly and Jaemin couldn’t stop himself from speaking his next words, “Did you want to da-“
Luckily for him, the rain was able to stop him when it suddenly came pouring down. Both of you stood frozen for a few seconds, unsure of what to do, until you started pulling Jaemin back the way you came.
“How far is the store you wanted to go to?” you asked when Jaemin furrowed his brows at you.
“Oh, right,” he said, grabbing your hand tighter and walking in front of you, “It’s just around the corner.”
Eventually he stopped the two of you in front of a frozen yoghurt shop. It was devoid of people except for the cashier, who you could barely make out the silhouette of in the neon lights.
He pulled you in through the glass door and pointed over to the drinks glistening in the lights. The whole shop was cold, making you put your hands on your upper arms to preserve heat. You took one of the many strawberry flavoured sodas off the shelf, but you shivered at the even cooler temperature inside the refrigerator. You stood there for a few seconds, thinking before grabbing a pineapple soda from the bottom shelf and turning around to head towards the cashier.
Jaemin was already sat at one of the white tables, facing away from you. The black material of his jacket hugged him comfortably, his body nearly drowning in the fabric. It made you want to wrap your arms around him, whether it was simply to get warmth or if it was to get to hold Jaemin, you weren’t sure.
You yanked your eyes away from him and went over to the cashier, setting the two bottles down on the counter.
“You don’t have to pay,” he said from his place on a stool near the cash register. He didn’t even look up from the phone in his hands, “It’s on the house.”
You jerked your head away in surprise, “Excuse me?”
“Really, you don’t have to pay for it” Jaemin’s voice came up behind you, “that’s my cousin, he’s trying to get fired.”
You looked back and forth between the two for a second, only just seeing the resemblance.
“What? Why?” you ask, not sure who to direct the question to, but that problem was solved when the boy sitting behind the register put AirPods in his ears.
“My aunt will kill him if he quits another job,” Jaemin snickered, “He’s quit five in the last four months.”
You walked over to Jaemin as he spoke and you noticed two cups of frozen yoghurt on the table.
“That has to be a record,” you sat down and Jaemin pushed one of the cups over to you. There was a curl of lilac coloured frozen yoghurt peeking out the top of the cup.
He chuckled, “Yeah, his mom completely cussed him out. But I’ve met the manager of this place and I would want to quit too if I were him.”
It was silent for a few seconds as you dipped the plastic spoon into the swirl of frozen yoghurt and hummed.
“You just don’t like him, because he stocks strawberry flavoured soda,” you spoke around your growing smirk before opening the can and taking a sip from said soda.
“Hey, at least I’m not the one mixing soda with frozen yoghurt,” he said, pointing to the aforementioned drink with a stern look in his eyes.
You narrowed your eyes at him, seeing through his judgemental facade, “You’ve never tried it have you?” His gaze melted into one of rather tense curiosity at your actions as you raised a spoonful of the frozen yoghurt to your mouth.
“No, doesn’t it feel weird?” he watched you with his confusion pulling on his brows.
“That’s the whole point,” you said, before following the spoon of yoghurt with a sip of soda again.
He quickly scooped some frozen yoghurt from the quickly diminishing supply into his mouth and then looked at you expectantly after swallowing, “So it’s like a chaser?”
You let out a giggle, “I mean kinda, yeah. Try it, but keep the soda in your mouth for a little.”
He reached out, took his soda into his right hand, and after opening it and giving it a curious look, he drank from it.  His eyes widened at the pleasant sensation of fizzing and bubbling in his mouth and he pulled his lips together as if sucking from a straw. You laughed loudly at his animated reaction and tried to hold back the ‘I told you so’ that threatened to spill past your lips.
“Wow,” his mouth widened, his jaw comically lopsided, and held the can of soda out in front of him, looking at it as if it had just spoken to him. He then looked up at you, his expression turning back into confusion, “Why are you laughing?!”
“I’ve shown this to so many people, but they’ve never reacted like you just did,” you put a hand in front of your mouth as you continued to heave out giggles.
Jaemin’s features softened as he watched your eyes and nose crinkle from your laughter. A smile etched itself onto his own face at the sight and sound of you laughing at him. Your cheeks were jutting out to make room for your smile and he was sure your laugh was the best sound he’d ever heard. He was glad he could make you laugh so hard. Glad that he had any positive effect on you at all, really.
While the two of you continued talking, the sky outside emptied itself of rain until it had none left. The sound of rain clattering to the ground outside was replaced with only the occasional drip from the roof. However, neither you nor Jaemin would admit that you’d noticed it, instead opting to stay in the bubble your laughter and conversation had made around you. That was, until a set of keys was hurtled towards Jaemin, who very nearly caught them. They landed on the floor behind him and he twisted around to pick them up.
“What the hell?” said Jaemin, throwing his words at his cousin who had just woken up.
“When you’re done, lock up for me will you?” he said as he picked up a backpack from behind the counter, “But don’t stay too long, Jaemin, if you keep looking at them like that I’m pretty sure your eyes will turn heart shaped.”
Jaemin scoffed, watching his cousin disappear out the back entrance without another word, leaving only the lights above the refrigerators on.
“Alright let’s go,” he stood up and held his hand out for you to take and you couldn’t help the shy smile that pushed its way onto your face.
After locking up, the two of you began wandering the streets of Seoul, with no particular destination in mind. Jaemin kept your hand in his as you walked. The rain had stopped, but it had left blotches of water for you to dodge everywhere you went.
The boy next to you had become completely silent, the only sounds he made being occasional hums as you spoke. So eventually, you decided to let the sounds of the city enter the space between you instead of trying to fill it with your words.
You made your way to your apartment, Jaemin still by your side. When the two of you stopped in front of your building you had the urge to lean closer to him, to close your eyes and let your lips meld together in a kiss. You wanted to be as close to him as you could in that moment, but when he only gave you a rushed ‘goodnight’ and turned away, your hopes sunk down to the floor of your heart. As you watched him walk away, you felt coldness set in for the first time since you’d met him.
Three days after your date with Jaemin, an old man walked into the bookstore with a delivery box in his arms. You went around the counter to take the box from him and sign for the package, frowning all the while. The man left without saying a word, but when he turned around, you caught sight of what must have been a chewed piece of gum behind his ear. Your shoulders jostled in disgust as soon as he was out of sight.
A moment later, Jisoo appeared from the backroom. “Was that Jaemin?”
“No,” you said blankly before looking up from the box you’d just cut open, “but I have met the mold guy now, and you’re right. The smell does hang around after he’s gone.”
“Jaemin better be dying,” she said, going around the counter to start entering the stock on the computer, “or I'll kill him myself for staying home.”
“I don’t think he stayed home,” your shoulders slumped as you said it, “He probably changed his shifts.”
Jisoo hummed in confusion, signalling for you to elaborate. Her eyes were still on the screen but her face was aimed towards you.
“He hasn’t talked to me since we went on that date,” you huffed, placing your hands on your hips. Lifting books all the time still hadn’t become any easier since you‘d started this job. You had, however, learned to appreciate air conditioning after the one day it didn’t work and you were reminded why no one else had turned a greenhouse into a store of some kind.
That pulled Jisoo’s eyes away from the screen, “You went on a what? And he didn’t—? Okay, no, fill me in,” she leaned her forearms on the counter.
“Well, he asked me on a date that night that he made that late delivery, then didn’t specify a day or time and then found me in a convenience store and whisked me away on a really, really lovely date and then he didn’t call or text and now he’s most likely changed shifts because he hates me,” you took a sharp breath in at the end of your rambling.
“That doesn’t sound like something Jaemin would do,” she said, “I mean the last part, the late delivery and suddenly taking you on a date sounds just like him.” She paused for a moment, eyes cast down as she thought, “Have you tried texting him?”
“Of course I have.”
“And?”
“Delivered,” you deadpanned.
The bell on the door rang behind you and you rounded the counter to take over from Jisoo while she asked the customer if they needed any help. Before she left your side though, she sent you a sad, close-mouthed smile and squeezed your arm.
That night, as soon as you’d changed into comfortable clothing and sat on your sofa to watch reruns of an old show, you picked up your phone and wandered over to your chat with Jaemin absent mindedly. As you opened it, you felt a slight pinch in your heart. Maybe being left on delivered was better.
You held a bucket above the lamp in the centre of the room, the plop from the drops of water entering it being washed away under the sound of the rain outside the store. You were in the process of trying to place the pile of books you had in your hand onto the table without letting the drops of water get on the lamp, when you heard the sound of the bell ringing above the door.
It had been a while — maybe almost two weeks — since you’d last seen Jaemin; since you’d last talked to him. But now he pushed his way into the shop, bringing with him a whirlwind of the weather outside.
You looked over to his form in the doorway: a box littered with giant dark spots in his hands and his hair nearly dripping from the rain despite the hood of his sopping yellow raincoat framing his face.
When he caught sight of you, your arms holding books and buckets alike and struggling with both of them, he set the box down on the ground near a bookshelf and rushed over to take the pile of books from you. He set them on the old couch and helped you move the heavy lamp in order to put the bucket in its place to catch the water.
“Thank you,” you said quietly, keeping your eyes away from him.
“No problem,” he said, putting his hands in the front pockets of his jeans.
‘He has no business looking that pretty.’
“I’m sorry I haven’t been by in a while…”
You scoffed immediately, “You haven’t answered my texts in a while either.”
“I’m sorry about that too,” you can’t tell if he’s avoiding your eyes because he’s ashamed, or because he’s lying.
“Well, at least you don’t have to apologise for not reading them, because you most certainly did that,” you nearly felt bad as the words sprang out of your mouth, nearly.
“I didn’t mean to hurt you,” his voice was weak, so were his words.
On hearing the words drop from his lips, your anger rose like a wave at high tide.
“Oh really? Then what exactly did you mean to do, Jaemin? Because, taking someone out on a date — which, by the way, was the best date I’ve ever been on — and then leaving them outside their apartment with barely a ‘goodbye,’ and not calling or texting for a week doesn’t sound like you’re trying very hard not to hurt someone.” You took a breath, before muttering, “Not to mention the fact that you switched your shift just to avoid me.”
“Fuck, I know, okay? I’m so sorry,” he looked up at you then, eyes shining with sadness, the excited glow diminished to barely a flicker, “I know I was an asshole. It was the best night I’ve ever had and I was an idiot not to hold on to you and I’m incredibly sorry. If I could rewind and do it the right way I would.”
“Then why’d you do it, Jaem?” his shoulders slumped at the change in your voice, you were holding back tears and you’d grown so small in front of him. His arms nearly wound themselves around you of their own accord.
“Honestly?” he took a moment to collect his thoughts and arrange them into words, “I was scared. It sounds insanely cheesy and like it comes from a Taylor Swift song or something, but the way you made me feel was terrifying.”
“Great, thanks, you really know how to make someone feel better,” You rolled your eyes, a tear falling down your warm cheek in the process.
He didn’t have time to stop the airy laugh that escaped him, “I felt fearless. You made me feel like there was nothing in the world that could stop me, as long as I was with you.”
You wanted to hate him, wanted to yell that that was bullshit. You wanted to push him out the door and into the rain yourself. But, you couldn’t. You knew he was being sincere. You knew it, because that was exactly how you’d felt and it had scared you, too.
“So you ghosted me completely? Because that doesn’t sound so ‘fearless’ to me,” you tried to keep your resolve until you got the answer you needed.
“Like I said, I was an idiot. It was stupid of me to try to get rid of someone who made me feel like that. I just — I’ve fallen for you so hard and so fast that it scared me, because by the end of the night I knew I wasn’t going to stop falling any time soon, I still haven’t. And then what if I lost you? What if I did something wrong and made you hate me?” he sighed, reigning in his thoughts and emotions, “So, I ran before I could fall anymore. I tried to minimise the pain before it even started.”
“So then, why are you here now?”
“This past week has felt like the place you go to if you’re too shitty even for hell,” he took a small step towards you, “I’ve already fallen way too hard to turn back. And plus, Jisoo called me and told me you were genuinely really upset and well, there’s not much I wouldn’t do for you. So, even if it means possibly getting my heart shattered by you in the future, I’d gladly do anything to make you happy.”
“Jae—”
“Oh and Jisoo said she’d get me fired if I didn’t at least explain myself and I really need the money so— Ow!” He rubbed the spot on his bicep where you’d pinched him. He still held a smile on his face from his own joke.
He was probably the happiest you’d seen someone who’d just been pinched, and suddenly, you couldn’t hide your own smile.
“Will you forgive me then? Or at least let me make it up to you?”
“Depends on how you plan to make it up to me,” gathering yourself, you turned around to enter the back room Jisoo was always hiding in, Jaemin following you close behind.
“What about a date? I’m on my lunch break right now and I just saw this—”
You stopped in the doorway and interrupted him, “I still have to work for another four hours, text me when your shift is over.”
He nodded vigorously, “Yes, uh, okay perfect. I will! I’ll see you later tonight then?” He began backing out of the bookstore with a giant, goofy smile plastered on his face.
Just before he opened the door, you called his name, “Jaemin! Actually text me this time okay?”
“I swear I will!”
Okay so I had a really weird Deltarune dream last night
So in the dream I was talking to someone about the game because I was planning to write about the game's story for school. They were also a fan and they mentioned to me that a new secret had been found in the game, sort of a Snowgrave-esque alternate path. I decided to check it out on my own via a set of instructions.
So what you had to do is play Ch. 2 with a Dark Candy carried over into your inventory from your Ch. 1 playthrough, I know this isn't possible in the actual game but in the dream a single Dark Candy will carry over if you had any. I don't think it could be done if you simply bought one from Seam in Castle Town but who knows honestly.
So you'd have to keep that Dark Candy in your inventory until the Sweet Cap'n Cakes fight, where you'd have to let Kris be downed. That's where the events of the game diverge, instead of Susie and Ralsei doing the actions upon their own accord they'll have the same conversation but you the player will have to select the S and R-Actions for them from the get-go. Instead of continuing the battle normally, use the battle turn to give Ralsei the Dark Candy. He'll deny it at first, saying he doesn't want it (since Kris is downed is he talking to the Player?) but you only need to command him to eat it a second time for him to accept it. He does so and one of two things will happen. In the dream I performed the same actions twice with no differences in my steps but got these two separate outcomes for reasons I do not know, I was confused even in the dream.
The first outcome has the screen go dark with the other sprites disappearing and Ralsei's sprite moving to the middle of the screen. Sort of reminiscent of Chara's appearance at the end of Undertale's No Mercy route. He'll perform a special eating animation and then his sprite changes, no animation for that I think it just switches abruptly. He turns into this orange guy, sort of knight-ish looking with maybe wings and a tail? Either a classic devil or dragon motif for sure. A name flashes above his head, sadly I cannot remember what it was but I assume that was the name of whoever he turned into. I'm keen to call him Avalon or something like that. He thanks Kris (maybe the Player?) for doing that, his "voice" in this form is much deeper further signifying that he's outright turned into a different person. Maybe this is supposed to be his true form?
The second outcome is practically the same but what happens to Ralsei after he eats the Dark Candy is different. His sprite will start to distort, like different pixels blown up or rotated or something. Not your typical glitch effect, more like Ralsei's body is literally supposed to be shifting like it's made out of goo. He doesn't actually end up changing that much though, he simply ends up in a new outfit. Something similar to what Spamton and Mystery Man wear. He once again thanks Kris/Player, but this time he explicitly thanks them for "freeing" him.
I don't know what happens after either outcome, I stopped playing the game immediately after both tries so I guess the game just shuts down or something. Also, for reasons unknown I was doing all of this on a laptop while sitting in a bathtub and when I finished the bathtub had filled up a bit and some tadpoles were swimming around in the water, both at different stages in development. Dream me assumed that somehow the game did that.
genre ; fluff
warnings ; food
summary ; jake, your best friend since you were children has started making your heart beat fast, little do you know, his is beating just as fast...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"yo jake!"
you were sitting on one of the park's benches with your best friend while eating strawberry flavored ice cream he got for you, when you heard someone call your best friend's name.
"jake!"
it was louder this time, meaning the person calling him was coming closer. Suddenly one of jake's friends, sunghoon, came into view trying to catch his breath while he sat down on the bench between you.
well now that was awkward.
he looked between you two, clueless to the situation you were in and asked,
"did I interrupt anything?"
he asked and to that question, your cheeks reddened as you turned to look at jake, noticing how his cheeks were also light crimson as he opened his mouth to answer his friend's question
"n-no you sure didn't" jake stammered. but jake never stammers?? and you just stood there, a little sad that jake answered sunghoon's question negatively and you just stood there, taken aback by jake's answer and by his stammering.
"it doesn't seem like it tho, anyways, heesung needs you in practice, jay was late and he almost got yelled at" sunghoon started talking without getting a breath, almost as if he was rapping.
you searched jake's face for a reaction and he didn't even look surprised by ths situation going on at the school's gym.
"well, y/n, I'll have to go, sadly, however, ill try to return you your book on saturday on our picnic!" he told you while he got his school bag, from the bench you sat on every day after school, and started walking behind sunghoon to the gym.
"I'll be waiting for my book!" you yelled and screamed, happy that he remembered the poetry book he borrowed from you, two weeks ago. you see, your and jake's bond was something unbreakable, being friends and classmates from a very young age and being lucky enough to be able to continue this friendship till now. you started packing your bag and put the cup from the ice cream in the park's trashcan while going to your house. there really wasn't anyone at home however you prepared your table fully and made yourself lunch. you sat down trying to find a boring enough movie so that you'll be motivated to stop watching it and study or catch a nap.
————————♡timeskip♡———————
it was now 7pm on a friday afternoon and you were currently doing your homework so that you didn't have to do them during the weekend, when your computer started alarming you that there was an incoming skype call by jake. it made you instantly smile and you answered his call watching his face brighten once he saw you had picked up.
"hey"
"hi"
"are you doing homework on a friday night?" he asked, while he looked at me as if I was a weird creature.
"yeah, I don't understand your opposition on me doing my homework on a friday night" you said, the fake offended look on your face made jake laugh and that moment it was like you heard an angel laugh.
"have you prepared anything for our picnic tomorrow?"
oh shIT
you panicked
"I swear to god, y/n y/l/n, did you forget about one of the most important days of the month?" it was his turn to act offended now taking a dramatic pose acting as if he was crying.
you were about to start crying because, hoW. COULD. YOU. FORGET. YOUR PICNIC?!?!
"oH HELL NOH, how could I forget our picnic?!" you stated nervously hoping that he didn't notice the panic on your face when he mentioned the picnic.
"great, I was hoping you remembered about it because, well,,, tomorrow's picnic will be extra special, than just a day on the calendar" he said, he seemed nervous and by his sentence you became nervous too, hoping that something joyful will be behind this "extra special picnic"
"YO Y/N YOU THERE?" he yelled and then proceeded to slap his laptop's screen, just to make sure his computer wasn't the problematical one.
"yeah sorry, my laptop started glitching, see you tomorrow at the park!" you yelled at him and ended the call in a hurry.
you sat up from your desk's chair and walked in front of your mirror
"I now have to go down and prepare for tomorrow's picnic" you said to try and convince yourself to go down and prepare however your plan was interrupted when your phone rang, the name of your other best friend lighting up the screen.
"YANG JUNGWON YOU LITTLE MONSTER" you screamed as you picked up the phone.
" yo y/n what is your proBLEM?!"
"YOU OBVIOUSLY"
"what did I do this time bestie, explain to me please"
"well I was about to go prepare for my monthly picnic with jake but you decided that it was a good idea to call me".
"oooh, jake, the guy that likes you but doesn't know how to tell you"
"plEASE, he doesn't like me, we've been friends for a couple years and he sees me as a good friend"
"ok but like, since yOU like him, why don't you speak to him about it?"
at this point you are heading to the kitchen in order to get ready for tomorrow, since hanging up on jungwon wouldn't happen soon.
"if I tell him I might ruin our friendship, won"
"he likes you too tho, even sunghoon noticed!"
"since when do you hang out with sunghoon?"
"since you were too busy going on dates with jake"
"please, we had study meetings"
"yeah call it whatever you want love"
you tried to respond to jungwon but nothing came out of your mouth so jungwon continued,
"anyways, I'm hanging up so you can prepare for your picnic, by the way, wear those brown corduroy pants I got you for your birthday!!"
"yeah fine, I'll make sure to fill you in on what happened won, good night!"
"night y/n!"
with that you went to prepare some quick snacks for tomorrow and also got some of your favorite jellies from a seven eleven nearby, all because they were also jake's favorite jellies.
———————♡timeskip #2♡———————
you woke up by the sudden sound of your alarm, you didn't even remember setting an alarm but you find have time to worry about stuff like this as you wanted to get up and get ready quickly for the picnic.
your phone rang and jake's number lit up your phone's screen.
"yo jake, bro, homie, fella, how you doin" that was the weirdest thing you've ever, like eVER, said in your life.
"Y/N Y/L/N ARE YOU DRUNK THIS EARLY IN THE MORNING?!"
"of course no jakey, it's 11:29 am, the picnic is in two hours "
" uh uh uh- special picnic" jake emphasized special once again.
" oh well, guess I'll take more time to get ready since its spEcial" you said, mimicking the way he said special.
" I swear to our friendship, y/n, if you're not ready by the time I come to pick you up, consider yourself not my friend" he said sarcastically, adding a laugh at the middle of his sentence.
"oh well, it's your lucky day because I have just started getting ready!" you lied, you walked to your dresser and started searching for that one pair of brown corduroy pants jungwon suggested you wear.
"I'm hanging up jake, gotta go get ready, see you at 1 outside my house!" you hung up without giving him a chance to reply.
bingo
you finally found the pants, searching for a shirt now. you found a white blouse you had got last Halloween for a pirate costume but never wore it. It didn't look like a costume shirt anyway, you shrugged and got into the bathroom to take a shower and get ready afterwards.
You were done with your shower now, the time was 12 pm and you had an hour left before jake got to your place to pick you up.
You put on your clothes and matched a pearl necklace (which was, indeed, a gift by jake) with your outfit, you opted for some classic black converse high tops as for the shoe choice, and with that, your outfit was complete.
You headed downstairs to prepare your basket, full with snacks and fizzy drinks, also getting a light blanket with you, just in case.
You heard a car honk from outside and checked the time, it was 12 : 40, twenty minutes before jake should be here to pick you up. The same honking sound was heard again and you headed to the door to see if it was jake by any chance. It was jake indeed, you got your basket, your keys, sprayed some perfume on and left the house, not forgetting to lock the door behind you.
"well hello there, y/n"
you were ready to tell general kenobi literally at his face, the pun must've been intended as you had a star wars movie marathon some days ago.
"hello to you too, jakey"
You both got in the car and jake turned the music up, a song unknown to you playing on the radio. Jake seemed different today, he seemed nervous, something unusual to him.
"is everything okay jake?"
"yeah why?" he responded while he let out a small laugh.
"oh, nothing!"
The drive went by quickly, however jake had taken you to a place you thought you'd never see again, it was the place where you and jake had first met. A park filled with bushes and sunflowers, huge trees and benches along with wooden tables. You were on the verge of tears, left speechless, you opened the car's door, taking your basket and started running around the park laughing loudly. You were feeling truly happy.
Jake was watching from inside the car, deciding to open his door too, taking his own basket, locking the car and started running towards you.
After running around for some good minutes, you sat on bench and left your baskets on a wooden table, starting to set your food in order for your picnic to start.
You had started eating your second sandwich when jake interrupted you, making you put your sandwich down and turning your attention to him.
"yo y/n, do you remember those love letters you kept on receiving last year?"
"of course I do! I've been searching till this day! but what does that have to with our special picnic?"
"well, I'm the one who sent those letters" jake said, lowering his head and starting to fiddle with his hands.
"well, that was a good one!" you started laughing. Noticing the situation jake was in right now, it only meant one thing, "WAit, you're not joking?"
"not really" he said giggling sadly, lifting his stare and watching into your eyes. You extended your arms and reached out to hug him.
"why didn't you tell me?"
"wait, you really didn't know I liked you? The boys kept on telling that my crush on you was too obvious!" he said, looking annoyed by his friends that moment.
"I mean, you did throw a basket ball at me once that had, "let me take you out" all over it but I didn't think you meant thAT TAKING OUT" you said, laughing at the old memory you had remembered.
well, y/n, would you officially allow me to take you out?" he asked, a glowing happy slice on his face when he noticed your emotionless face, "on A DATE, I mean, not with a basket ball!" he added. With that, you burst into laughter and looked at him, showing him your brightest smile.
"of course I'll let you take me out, on a date, jake"
Doctor Who: Perfect 10? How Fandom Forgets the Dark Side of David Tennant’s Doctor
https://ift.tt/2URb21b
As recently as September 2020 David Tennant topped a Radio Times poll of favourite Doctors. He beat Tom Baker in a 2006 Doctor Who Magazine poll, and was voted the best TV character of the 21st Century by the readers of Digital Spy. He was the Doctor during one of Doctor Who‘s critical and commercial peaks, bringing in consistently high ratings and a Christmas day audience of 13.31 million for ‘Voyage of the Damned’, and 12.27 million for his final episode, ‘The End of Time – Part Two’. He is the only other Doctor who challenges Tom Baker in terms of associated iconography, even being part of the Christmas idents on BBC One as his final episodes were broadcast. Put simply, the Tenth Doctor is ‘My Doctor’ for a huge swathe of people and David Tennant in a brown coat will be the image they think of when Doctor Who is mentioned.
In articles to accompany these fan polls, Tennant’s Doctor is described as ‘amiable’ in contrast to his predecessor Christopher Eccleston’s dark take on the character. Ten is ‘down-to-earth’, ‘romantic’, ‘sweeter’, ‘more light-hearted’ and the Doctor you’d most want to invite you on board the TARDIS. That’s interesting in some respects, because the Tenth Doctor is very much a Jekyll and Hyde character. He’s handsome, he’s charismatic, and travelling with him can be addictively fun, but he is also casually cruel, harshly dismissive, and lacking in self-awareness. His ego wants feeding, and once fed, can have destructive results.
That tension in the character isn’t due to bad writing or acting. Quite the contrary. Most Doctors have an element of unpleasantness to their behaviour. Ever since the First Doctor kidnapped Ian and Barbara, the character has been moving away from the entitled snob we met him as, but can never escape it completely.
Six and Twelve were both written to be especially abrasive, then soften as time went on (with Colin Baker having to do this through Big Finish audio plays rather than on telly). A significant difference between Twelve and Ten, though, is that Twelve questions himself more. Ten, to the very end, seems to believe his own hype.
The Tenth Doctor’s duality is apparent from his first full appearance in 2005’s ‘The Christmas Invasion’. Having quoted The Lion King and fearlessly ambled through the Sycorax ship in a dressing gown, he seems the picture of bonhomie, that lighter and amiable character shining through. Then he kills their leader. True, it was in self-defence, but it was lethal force that may not have been necessary. Then he immediately topples the British Prime Minister for a not dissimilar act of aggression. Immediately we see the Tenth Doctor’s potential for violence and moral grey areas. He’s still the same man who considered braining someone with a rock in ‘An Unearthly Child’.
Teamed with Rose Tyler, a companion of similar status to Tennant’s Doctor, they blazed their way through time and space with a level of confidence that bordered on entitlement, and a love that manifested itself negatively on the people surrounding them. The most obvious example in Series 2 is ‘Tooth and Claw’, where Russell T. Davies has them react to horror and carnage in the manner of excited tourists who’ve just seen a celebrity. This aloof detachment results in Queen Victoria establishing the Torchwood institute that will eventually split them apart. We see their blinkers on again in ‘Rise of the Cybermen’, when they take Mickey for granted. Rose and the Doctor skip along the dividing line between romance and hubris.
Then, in a Christmassy romp where the Doctor is grieving the loss of Rose, he commits genocide and Donna Noble sucker punches him with ‘I think you need somebody to stop you’. Well-meaning as this statement is, the Doctor treats it as a reason to reduce his next companion to a function rather than a person. Martha Jones is there to stop the Doctor, as far as he’s concerned. She’s a rebound companion. Martha is in love with him, and though he respects her, she’s also something of a prop.
This is the series in which the Doctor becomes human in order to escape the Family of Blood (adapted from a book in which he becomes human in order to understand his companion’s grief, not realising anyone is after him), and is culpable for all the death that follows in his wake. Martha puts up with a position as a servant and with regular racist abuse on her travels with this man, before finally realising at the end of the series that she needs to get out of the relationship. For a rebound companion, Martha withstands a hell of a lot, mostly caused by the Doctor’s failings.
Staged: BBC Comedy Confirms Sheen & Tennant’s Double-Act Greatness
By Louisa Mellor
Series 4 develops the Doctor further, putting the Tenth’s Doctor’s flaws in the foreground more clearly. Donna is now travelling with him, and simply calls him out on his behaviour more than Rose or Martha did. Nonetheless the Doctor ploughs on, and in ‘Midnight’ we see him reduced to desperate and ugly pleas about how clever he is when he’s put in a situation he can’t talk himself out of.
Rose has also become more Doctor-like while trapped in another reality, and brutally tells Donna that she’s going to have to die in order to return to the original timeline (just as the Doctor tells Donna she’s going to have to lose her memories of travelling with him in order to live her previous life, even as she clearly asks him not to – and how long did the Doctor know he would have to do this for? It’s not like he’s surprised when Donna starts glitching). Tied into this is the Doctor’s belief in his own legend. In ‘The Doctor’s Daughter’ he holds a gun to Cobb’s head, then withdraws it and asks that they start a society based on the morals of his actions. You know, like a well-adjusted person does.
What’s interesting here is that despite presenting himself as ‘a man who never would’, the Doctor is a man who absolutely would. We’ve seen him do it. Even the Tenth Doctor, so keen to live up to the absolute moral ideals he espouses, killed the Sycorax leader and the Krillitanes, drove the Cybermen to die of despair, brought the Family of Blood to a quiet village and then disposed of them personally. But Tennant doesn’t play this as a useful lie, he plays it as something the Doctor absolutely believes in that moment, that he is a man who would not kill even as his daughter lies dead. It’s why his picking up a gun in ‘The End of Time’ has such impact. And it makes some sense that the Tenth Doctor would reject violence following a predecessor who regenerated after refusing to commit another double-genocide.
In the series finale ‘Journey’s End‘, Davros accuses the Doctor of turning his friends into weapons. This is because the Doctor’s friends have used weapons against the Daleks who – and I can’t stress this enough – are about to kill everyone in the entire universe. Fighting back against them seems pretty rational. Also – and again I can’t stress this enough – the Daleks are bad. Like, really bad. You won’t believe just how mindbogglingly bad they are. The Doctor has tried to destroy them several times by this point. Here, there isn’t the complication of double-genocide, and instead the very real threat of absolutely everyone in the universe dying. This accusation, that the Doctor turns people into weapons, should absolutely not land.
And yet, with the Tenth Doctor, it does. This is a huge distinction between him and the First Doctor, who had to persuade pacifists to fight for him in ‘The Daleks’.
In ‘The Sontaran Strategem’ Martha compares the Doctor to fire. It’s so blunt it almost seems not worth saying, but it’s the perfect analogy (especially for a show where fire is a huge part of the very first story). Yes, fire shines in dark places, yes it can be a beacon, but despite it being very much fire’s entire deal, people can forget that it burns. And fire has that mythical connection of being stolen from the gods and brought to humanity. The Time Lord Victorious concept fits the Tenth Doctor so well. Of all the Doctors, he’s the most ready to believe in himself as a semi-mythic figure.
Even when regenerating there’s a balance between hero and legend: the Tenth Doctor does ultimately save Wilfred Mott, but only after pointing out passionately how big a sacrifice he’s making. And then he goes to get his reward by meeting all his friends, only to glare at them from a distance. His last words are ‘I don’t want to go’, which works well as clearly being a poignant moment for the actor as well, but in the context of Doctor Who as a whole it renders Ten anomalous: no one else went this unwillingly. And yet, in interviews Russell T. Davies said it was important to end the story with ‘the Doctor as people have loved him: funny, the bright spark, the hero, the enthusiast’.
It’s fascinating then, that this is the Doctor who has been taken to heart by so many viewers because there’s such an extreme contrast between his good-natured front, his stated beliefs, and his actions. He clearly loves Rose and Donna, but leaves them with a compromised version of happiness. They go on extraordinary journeys only to end up somewhere that leaves them less than who they want to be, with Russell T. Davies being more brutally honest than Steven Moffat, who nearly always goes the romance route. Davies once said to Mark Lawson that he liked writing happy endings ‘because in the real world they don’t exist’, but his endings tend towards the bittersweet: Mickey and Martha end up together but this feels like they’re leftovers from the Doctor and Rose’s relationship. The Tenth Doctor doesn’t, as Nine does, go with a smile, but holding back tears.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
It’s a testament to how well written the Tenth Doctor is that the character has this light and shade, and with David Tennant’s immense likeability he can appeal to a wider audience as a result. It’s not surprise he wins all these polls, but I can’t help but feel that if the Doctor arrived and invited me on board the TARDIS, I’d want it to be anyone but Ten.
“You’re coming to me about soulmate bonds?” Bruce Banner asked for what seemed like the umpteenth time. Once again, you and Bucky nodded in sync, standing awkwardly in the middle of his lab.
Bruce let out a sigh as he turned back to whatever he had been working on. He hadn’t totally dismissed you two yet, thankfully, so you were just forced to stand there, waiting.
When Bucky had told you this was who would potentially help you, you were a bit hesitant. You had only encountered Bruce briefly in your time at the compound. In fact, you hadn’t really gotten to know anyone outside of Bucky and Steve. So, coming to an Avenger, let alone a literal nationally recognized genius, for help with such a thing...made you nervous, to say the least. You’d have to confess your troubles to a third party once more.
But Bucky assured you over and over again that Bruce could be trusted. He didn’t know the scale of his research on the topic but he felt he was a trustworthy person for this. Eventually, you agreed. After your first shift back at work - a new addition back to your routine as you worked to regain some stability - Bucky took you over to the compound. You had thought he had gotten an appointment or at least gave Bruce some kind of rundown on the proposal but, apparently, no.
“What makes you think I can answer any questions on that?” Bruce grumbled as he furiously wrote notes on his current project. You and Bucky shared a look.
“I heard you did some research on it,” Bucky explained.
Bruce huffed. “So?”
“So,” Bucky sighed, “we think we… we have a problem with ours.”
This vague statement was enough for Bruce to perk up a bit. His writing had stopped. He was looking forward now, away from the project. “A problem?” Bruce asked, slightly glancing over his shoulder.
You shifted your weight as you stood a bit uncomfortable with the admission out in the open. Bucky, though, was the definition of cool, calm, and collected. You were just a little bit jealous of him.
Bucky nodded. “To put it simply, my girl has nightmares.”
Bruce seemed very interested now. He finally turned back around, facing you two fully once again. He looked intrigued but not really excited. You wondered greatly what his research really encompassed.
“Nightmares?” Bruce was beginning to sound like some sad echo. But you and Bucky just went with it, nodding your head in confirmation. Bruce continued, “I don’t think I’ve ever heard of nightmares. They’re dreams we have — soulmate dreams.”
You sighed, greatly out of annoyance. You’d been hearing the same thing day after day after day for years. “I know,” you finally said. “I am well aware of that but it just isn’t how ours work. I’ve only ever seen the…bad things Bucky has encountered. And for a while, after we met, they stopped.”
“As you would hope.”
You nodded. “But then that…thing happened. And it’s all started over again except somehow stronger. I’m seeing it all through Bucky’s eyes. Through his feelings. Through his — his everything. I’m back there twice over and many times after.”
Bruce shook his head as if he couldn’t believe it. You didn’t know what to do. Bucky was very tense beside you, hands balled into tight fists waiting as anxiously as you for Bruce to just say something about it. But he didn’t, not yet, as he raced over to his desk. From one of the drawers, a very particularly locked one, Bruce pulled out a file. He flicked it open and began reading, his finger roaming over the pages wildly, hunting for whatever it was he needed. You and Bucky just watched the situation unfold, practically holding your breaths.
Eventually, Bruce walked back over, a very specific page opened in the filed documents. You couldn’t make out what it was about from your sneaky glance so you waited for the genius to begin. He looked between you and Bucky, jaw slacked in amazement and concerned.
“Before I get into this, I want you both to promise me this knowledge doesn’t leave this lab unless it is on my account, okay?” He spoke strongly and seriously. You two nodded. Once he was pleased, Bruce looked back at the file and began, “Gosh, I can’t believe I forgot about this… You were right, Bucky, I have researched soulmate bonds. I didn’t do it for long, God knows it’s a hot topic, but part of my research involved what I nicknamed toxic bonds.” He looked pointedly at you two. “It just started out as a little theory stemming from the old stories about soulmates ‘moving on.’ It’s really a bit more than just not liking someone. This theory revolves around stories of soulmates, in these cases, receiving unflattering or uninteresting dreams from their partnered mates. I was basing these off the accounts of long ago as there are no known partners that fit this mold. At least, until now.” Bruce motioned between you two. You didn’t like where this was all going. “I believe what you two share is a toxic bond, a sort of glitch in Fate. Except, where you two fall flat in this is the fact the nightmares have come back. All dreams change after meeting your soulmate, right?” No one said anything. Bruce continued, “Yes, they technically should. Something has in fact fallen off with you two. I can’t say what but it doesn’t add it and could be significant to this research. With permission, I would like to run some tests on each of you.”
You stiffened. “T-Tests?” While you should be kind of relieved there’s some answer - or idea - for what you’re experiencing, you were suddenly hung up on the prospect of being an experiment. Bucky’s hand reached out to grasp yours, trying to offer some comfort. The thought of being strapped to a chair flashed through your mind. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Bucky shoot Bruce a harsh look.
“Nothing harmful, I promise,” Bruce insisted. “I would just like to take a peek into your brains, into the bond.”
“That’s possible?” Bucky asked. You were glad he at least had the strength to speak.
“It’s attached to the brain function in various ways,” Bruce explained. “A look into your brainwaves can tell me a lot. Or nothing, if that's the case, too.”
You knew you were doing an absolutely horrible job at hiding your worries but, thankfully, neither man was bringing much attention to it. They just looked at you, waiting for an answer. You were quite impressed by how Bucky was just going along with this. But, at the same time, there was a reason he came here instead of seeking a true outsider. If this was okay with Bucky, it was going to have to be okay with you. At least this time, you weren’t being thrown in a chair alone.
“Okay,” you nodded. “Let’s see what we can find out.”
***
You didn’t know which was more daunting: the actual test itself or waiting for the results.
The test was more like a true test of patience. You basically just had to sit there as Bruce wrote notes and saw things you never could make out from the weird squiggly lines on the monitor. All while he’s doing that, you’re trying not to just break down from being in a lab again. Thankfully, Bucky offered more comfort the best he could. He let you squeeze his non-metal hand, never flinching once no matter how much your nails dig into him. He even tried striking up conversations with you, trying to distract you. He tells you about the new romance movie he thinks you two should go see. You try to stay engaged, feeling a bit bad you couldn’t focus well on it, but he didn’t seem to mind.
When the roles were reversed, Bucky didn’t ask for any help from you. You still tried to offer something by taking his hand in yours. But he just didn’t need distractions, perhaps a bit too familiar with being subjected to testing. This had to be on the easier side, you figured.
Once you both were finished, Bruce instructed you to take a seat and wait. He had some things to double-check. The longer you sat, the more you were worried it was bad news - but you didn’t even really know what bad news would actually entail. What was he looking for? How much of the bond could actually be seen? You hadn’t heard of this ever. If you did, you probably would’ve looked into it a long time ago just to clarify if you were fucked in the head or not.
“How are you feeling?” Bucky asked, gently. You fiddled with your fingers, unsure.
“It wasn’t so bad,” you said. “Just not sure what he’s going to find.” Bucky agreed and you two fell back into your silence as you waited.
Minutes later, Bruce finally re-entered the room. You two must’ve been wearing hopeful looks because he motioned for you to calm down. Bruce wasn’t matching your excitement. Something twisted in your stomach.
“I’ve reviewed your tests,” he said, holding up a folder labeled with your names. You two nodded. Bruce motioned towards you first and said, “Your test came back perfectly normal. Everything is fine with your part of the bond which quite surprised me but I checked and rechecked. The issues aren’t with you-,”
Bucky sighed, cutting Bruce off as he mentally pieced it together. “They’re with me.”
You felt your body tense as Bucky looked defeated beside you. He wasn't meeting either of your gazes despite you trying to reach for his hand again. He shrugged it off, you quickly turned to Bruce.
“What’s the problem?” You just about demanded. Bruce didn’t look very phased by your outburst. He pulled up a seat in front of you two looking like he had to mentally prepare himself for this.
“There’s an unnatural disturbance in Bucky’s side of the bond,” Bruce explained as he flipped open the folder. You didn’t even try to understand the printed results. Bucky was fully disconnected at this point. “I can’t say for sure what caused it, but if I had to guess when he underwent what...Hydra did, it affected lines in the transmission process. They probably thought they were severing the lines but they were really just scrambling them, hence the nightmares. They’re the dominant memories the bond reads in transmission. Bucky’s missions and recent healing process didn’t help anything. All in all, to put it simply, any intense moments Bucky experiences will be projected back to you due to a disconnect in the function of the bond.”
“So, I really was the cause of all this?” Bucky finally spoke up. His voice was hoarse, almost weak. You knew he thought his hair hid the look of distress written on his face but you could feel it. Boy, could you feel it.
You immediately began shaking your head and reaching for him again. He didn’t move under your touch but at least he was allowing it. “This isn’t your fault, I promise.”
Bucky looked like he wanted to protest further but Bruce stopped him, “You couldn’t do anything to prevent this.” He looked back at you. “Either of you. These were the actions of some deranged individuals and they are the only ones responsible. I’m just sorry you two have to pay the price.”
“I-Is there anything we can do to fix it?”
Bruce closed the folder, looking more uncomfortable - if that was even possible. “I’m afraid not. It’s hard enough to damage soulmate bonds, essentially impossible to bandage.”
Upon hearing that, Bucky abruptly stood up. You jumped at the sudden action, suddenly convinced he was going to walk away. Forever. But instead, he made his way over to the window, his back towards you two, lost in whatever self-deprecating thoughts were flooding his brain. You’d address that later but were currently focused on pressing Bruce.
“There’s really nothing at all?” You were sounding desperate at this point but Bruce didn’t seem to mind, giving you the most sympathetic look.
“My best advice would be that Bucky finish his healing treatment and then get him out of this...profession.”
You could feel Bucky’s eyes on you two now. “What, like retirement?”
Bruce shrugged. “Whatever you want to call it. Essentially, the less he fights, the less traumatizing situations he’s put in, the fewer nightmares you’ll have.” He glanced back at the folder. “In theory, you could be rid of them all. Get back to having actual dreams. It’s an optimistic take but you’ve already proven it’s possible to some degree.”
You looked over your shoulder, your worried eyes meeting Bucky’s intense ones. He wasn’t exactly protesting but you saw the hesitancy. You turned back to Bruce.
“Thank you for all your help,” you said.
He nodded. “I’m glad I could be of some assistance. If you ever want to look even further into it, I think I know someone else that could help.”
“I think we’ve learned enough for a while.”
“Of course,” Bruce agreed and then stood from his chair. “I’ll let you two go. Probably got a few things to discuss. Call me if you need anything.” With that, he exited the lab, leaving just you and your soulmate to move forward. Somehow.
Bucky had turned back to the window. You shifted in your seat, unsure of what to say now.
Thankfully, Bucky was the first to speak. “Do you want to get some dinner?”
Among Us idea: Because I'm a little bit obsessed with game mechanics and glitches in fic...how about a round where one of the Hermits gets left behind? The game ends, and everyone but them is transported to the lobby, but they're just left on an empty ship flying eternally to some destination it will never reach... All the tasks are done. There's nothing left to do. So why is the game still keeping them there? And how do they escape? (It could also be two people left, if writing just one alone would be boring. Your choice who!)
SKSKSKSKSK HOW DO YOU DO THIS I’VE BEEN PLANNING OUT AN IDEA IN MY HEAD FOR THE LAST FEW DAYS IN WHICH TWO PLAYERS ACCIDENTALLY GET LEFT BEHIND HOW DO YOU KEEP READING MY MIND (/lh)
also i had a kind of idea to expand the concept a little bit and i hope that’s okay :)
also also i too love the ideas that utilise glitches or kinda ignore game mechanics; they're always so interesting to write! :D
Having finished his tasks a long time ago and not being teleported to any meetings lately, Skizz wanders around the whole ship, trying to find a friend. A buddy. Or literally anyone. But the ship seems deserted.
Finally, Skizz wanders into admin and checks the special table.
To his shock, he finds only two yellow faces on the screen: one in admin and one in cafeteria. So he rushes into the cafeteria and literally bumps into someone coming the other way.
“Oh my gosh, FINALLY,” Impulse breathes. “Where IS everyone?”
Skizz glances away, unable to meet his best friend’s gaze. “We have a problem.”
Impulse frowns. “What?” he asks warily.
“Um…” Skizz rubs the back of his neck. “So… it seems we’re the only two people on the ship.”
It takes a moment for Impulse’s brain to process what his friend just said. “...what?”
“I looked around the whole ship and then went to the admin table. There were only two yellow dots: me and you. There’s literally nobody else anywhere on the ship, dude.”
“But… I…” Impulse blinks. “How is that possible? Did the game end and leave us behind, somehow?”
“I feel like that’s the only possible explanation, but at the same time, it makes no sense.”
“Well, if this IS what happened, it’s gotta be a glitch, right?” says Impulse.
Skizz nods. “Gotta be. But now the question is… how do we get outta here?”
Impulse gazes around the room. “The game always automatically puts us back in the lobby when we’re done, so… I don’t think there’s a way of manually doing it.”
Skizz stares back at him with wide eyes. “You mean we’re stuck in THIS particular ship forever?!”
“W-Well, hopefully not FOREVER,” Impulse responds nervously. “I’m sure they’ll have realised we’re missing by now and they’ll be trying to get us back.”
“But what if they can’t?!” Skizz yelps. “We’ll be trapped in this purgatory forever!”
“Not helping, Skizz,” snaps Impulse. “We’ll be totally fine. There’s nothing to worry about.”
“Yeah, like I can have ANY faith in your words anymore,” mutters Skizz, turning away.
Impulse glances sharply at him, sensing that his best friend’s words aren’t about Among Us. Not entirely. “What do you mean?”
Skizz just rolls his eyes and walks off.
Impulse watches him go. Looks like Skizz hasn’t been so quick to forgive and forget after all. Now the way Skizz was acting around him earlier makes sense.
After making a quick trip around the ship, Impulse discovers Skizz sitting leaning against the wall in admin, tossing a stack of ID cards at the wall one at a time.
“Still no way off,” Impulse reports. “Looks like we’re stuck here until they rescue us. Flying through space. On a ship heading to nowhere. An endless journey. With nothing except-.”
“Yes, okay, I get it!” Skizz snaps at him.
After a moment, Impulse leans against the admin table. “Skizz, you’ve been acting weird around me all night. I think we need to talk.”
“I don’t wanna talk.”
“C’mon. We’re stuck here on a ship on our own for the foreseeable future. There’s no better time to talk than now.”
“Okay!” snaps Skizz unexpectedly, jumping to his feet. “FINE! You wanna talk?! I don’t care! You did a LOT of talking back there on 3rd Life and not a word of it was true!”
Impulse frowns. “Is that what this is about?”
Skizz’s eyes nearly pop out of his head. “WH- WHAT DO YOU MEAN “is that what this is about”?! You say that like I’m mad at you for stealing my sandwich! Impulse, you LIED to me, BETRAYED me, and then watched Grian KILL me! You told me over and over again that you were on my side and you were loyal to us but you planned to betray us from the start! Y-You planned to betray ME. Do you-” He breaks off with a bitter laugh. “You know what, I was gonna say “do you have any idea how much that hurts?” but you DO, don’t you? Because your own ally turned on you. And murdered you. And you know what? YOU DESERVED IT!”
Impulse can only stare at his best friend with an expression of guilt and sadness.
“I wanted you to go far, dude! I wanted you to win at one point!” Skizz’s voice cracks. “I thought you were the best of us but it turns out you were nothing but a dirty liar and a traitor! I thought “oh, his strategy of playing all sides is pretty smart, actually, but he’s gonna have to pick a side at some point” but I didn’t realise that meant pretending to pick a side and then STABBING THEM IN THE BACK! Of all the- the jerky things to do! You pick the worst one! I-I just don’t understand how you could do that to someone you’ve been a brother to for A QUARTER OF A CENTURY! GOD, you SO deserved to die and the biggest regret of my life is that I didn’t get imposter tonight so I could stab you in the FACE!”
Skizz finally stops talking, breathing heavily. He takes in a deep breath, rubbing his eyes tiredly. “Wow… I did not expect to yell that much…”
“I…” Impulse searches for something to say. But he can’t find anything. “I don’t…”
“You don’t have to say anything, Impulse.” Skizz gives a weak smile. “I-I think I just needed to… to let my feelings out.”
“You just needed to yell at me, huh? I get that.”
“Haha, yeah. Remember that time I snuck onto Hermitcraft and did a bunch of reckless things and then died, and you didn’t know if I was gonna respawn or not?”
Impulse nods, a small smile appearing on his face. “That’s what I was indirectly referring to. I think my throat hurt from yelling at you for, like, two weeks after that.”
“Are we even now, then?” asks Skizz.
“Well, I mean… Probably not. I still have a lot to make up for.”
Skizz shakes his head. “No, it… it’s okay. We all did things in that place that we’re not proud of.”
“Even the great Skizzleman?” teases Impulse weakly.
“Oh heck yeah. I still have nightmares about how I violently murdered two of my friends and how bloodthirsty I felt for so long. It freaks me out that I got to that point, man. Even in Among Us when I murder people, even you, I never got THAT bad.”
“Yeah, 3rd Life was…” Again, Impulse searches for the right word. “...an experience. In more ways than one.”
“It really was,” Skizz murmurs, letting out a long breath. “I’m sorry; I shouldn’t have let it affect Among Us so much.”
“No, it’s okay. And we can-.”
Impulse breaks off Skizz suddenly disappears in front of him. Blinking, he just has time to take a step forward before the admin room vanishes and he finds himself back in the lobby.
With eight people staring at him.
“Oh my gosh, finally!” Tango gasps, grabbing both Impulse and Skizz in a hug. “Are you guys okay?”
“We’re fine, dude,” laughs Skizz quietly. “We just yelled at each other a bit, that’s all.”
Impulse chuckles. “Well, it was mostly Skizz doing the yelling.”
“Yeah, true. How did you guys even manage to get us out?”
“The insane genius that is Etho hacked into the code and managed to force the round to end again,” Tango responds. “Somehow. I dunno how. Took us a while to figure out what’d happened, though.”
“Yeah, I’ve never seen that glitch before,” Etho chimes in. “There was six left, Grian and Ren double-killed me and Pungence to win, and that should’ve been it. The rest of us respawned in the lobby but we realised you two were missing.”
“Whoa, that’s so weird.” Skizz exchanges a look with Impulse. “Cuz for us, it was like the round just hadn’t ended.”
“Yeah, we’d both done all our tasks and we had no idea anything had happened.”
“What did you guys do?”
Impulse and Skizz shoot each other another look, silently making a mutual decision. “Just talked a bit and tried to look for a way out,” Impulse replies. “That’s all.”
Tango frowns, clearly picking up on the slight tension between them, but he doesn’t mention it. “Okay. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen again.”
“Yeah.”
Skizz thinks back to the way he’d exploded at Impulse, and the way Impulse had looked at him with fear in his eyes. All the fury, the despair, the hurt… It had all spilled out at once. Skizz never wants to feel that way again.
“Let’s hope not.”
