top 5 movies
OOOO OKAY so i actually hate doing top tens because i overthink everything and constantly switch things around SOO... im just gonna do a collection of five things bee likes SORRY FOR THE FALSE ADVERTISING 😭
1 City of God
Tumblr media
i hate telling people this is one of my fav movies cus I don't wanna seem like that pretentious person who only watches foreign films for the sake of watching foreign films. This is literally my favorite movie because it's my favorite movie. I don't really watch a lot of movies and this just happened to be one i found and happened to like! I read the book first (dont. By the way. It kinda sucks partly because it got translated poorly so not it's fault but mainly because it's violence for the sake of violence. Like if the movie went just by book, i wouldn't like it. But it doesn't so <3 )
think of the movie and the book like No Country For Old Men. The book goes for shock and suspense and the movie goes to make it Art. It's a really pretty film and you kinda value it more knowing like. None of the actors went anywhere. They did their piece for the film then that's pretty much all. It's a good film of a bad film that made it good film? Like what happens is bad, but the bad doesn't happen just to happen and be Bad. IDK man !
Next is
Tumblr media
YEAH SO. LMAO um 😭 let's get this clear i hate b*ll i hated him from the beginning righteous prick and i always skipped his parts in the show or used it to do homework when i was lil. I JUST REALLY LOVED THE ANIMATION!! the show and the movie is ass tho. BUT IT'S THE KINDA ASS... you Enjoy 😈. All intentions possible. I love love LOVE watching this movie with friends so we can make fun of it and point out the terrible writing, not in a 'we're better sense' but a 'LMFAO WTF WAS THAT????'
it's a very WTF WAS THAT movie and i love it 😭. Weird Harold, Rudy, and Otis (yall don't even know any of these people but especially Otis. All u gotta know is he's the best) carried. Dumb Donald has a great design cartoon wise but he got on my nerves. He's alright tho
Tumblr media
the harder they fall's soundtrack is SO good. It's so cool, it's just a COOL movie. It's an action movie so some of the characters could've been written better (especially some of the women. They werent written horrible but they had more potential that you can feel wasnt justly reached), but the characters they spent time on, you could tell. From their stories and personalities and dialogue and interactions, very cool!!! Sometimes an almost anime-esque kind of movie? Sometimes shot like Scott pilgrim? Sometimes sphagetti western.. Sometimes action.. Sometimes comedy! It's a COOL movie that you can think about a little bit but not cramp yourself over. It's not a complete turn your brain off though. It's engaging in what it is! Which is a lot of things, so it's very engaging!!!
Tumblr media
Blade!!!!!! The patron Saint of joth gf!! my first!!! my beloved!! my EVERYTHING!!!!! the movie's writing shows its time in only having personality in 'crazy side villain who dies' 'clever quip when someone dies' 'sad for short time when someone dies'. Maybe the new blade movie wouldn't be in such a fumbling state if i was in the writer's room with my divine, lifesaving advice of 'just make blade more babygirl'. Literally. That's all you have to do. It's not that difficult. ANYWAYS yeah he and the flash and hawkman were my 3 only childhood 'superhero' heroes. This is more of a personal childhood attachment thing like Albert than being a.. Good movie. BUT it DOES have its cinematography! You can feel the wuxia inspiration in some scenes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
these two can sit in the same space because they're both childhood films as well. Boyz was better at leaning into characters as human (which i value a lot) and menace was better at showing the edge of what life can do to characters. They're both good films in their own right! Check em out! I liked menace way more than the other when i was younger but growing up im leaning more toward the other but they're AGAIN theyre both super snazzy
Some honorable mentions... to make up for the lack of a ranking system:
- New Jack City: NEWWW JACK! CIIIITYYY (NEW JACK CITYY 🎶 !!) older blaxplotation movie so cheesy, cheap, but like? Cool??? cut out the cheesy old cop crud and you get an entertaining villain with an entertaining mob. Also there's one death in the movie that's a brutal one, and it's offscreen. You just see a glimpse of the desecrated aftermath. Those are like the best deaths in a movie tbh. The imagination being our biggest friend and our biggest enemy. Love it love it!

- coraline: the movie was so cool.. the video game on the wii scared me so bad i had nightmares from the bad game over screens. But the designs were great the elements the songs the using good characters abilities into their bad character abilities UGH it was SO cool!!! i hate people that like coraline though... it's like.. idk how to describe it. there's like two types of theater people... either really really nice or seems really nice, actually a huge usually passive aggressive or control freak holier than thou smart ass who thinks they're the stem of theater because their personality is loving hamilton (i fucking hate hamilto

Target Practice
Tumblr media
author's note: this is my first piece of writing I have ever put out into the world hahah ok bye <3
“600 yards out,” Price’s sudden words almost break your focus “3 notches up, about two to the left accounting for the wind.” he instructs as you stare down the scope of your rifle, looking for the next target. They’ve been getting smaller and smaller as your training progressed and you were struggling to find this last one. Finally, your eyes land on the red balloon.
It smiled back at you.
“Cute,” you chuckle at the poorly drawn smiley face decorating your unfortunate target, “Is that your handiwork or Gaz’s?”
“I don’t know what you mean,” Price responds coyly.
You scoff, lining up the shot. The happy balloon swung right and left, fighting against the wind that was now picking up. “Might wanna go three to the left, love” Price suggested.
“Right,” you say, trying not to give much thought to the name - and how your captain had been using it more and more often.
You’re finally satisfied with how you’ve lined up your shot. Three up, three left.
You squeeze your finger and feel the butt of the gun kick into your shoulder.
The bullet hits the ground a foot away from the balloon, kicking dust into the wind. The balloon smiles back at you, taunting your marksmanship.
“Damn” you whisper.
“S’alright” Price says. It’s not, you scold yourself and line up your shot again. He hears this thought. “Really Y/N, take your time.”
The balloon’s bobbing slows and you feel the wind calm. Readjusting your shot, you feel more confident this bullet will land right between its squiggly sharpie black eyes. The pad of your pointer finger rubs the cold trigger.
Squeeze.
You see red rubber erupt and flitter off into the air, the wind once again picking up as if it had patiently waited for you to finish shooting the unsuspecting balloon in cold blood. “There you go, love - dropped ‘em!” you finally take your eyes away from the rifle and look at John, offering you a smile. “Or should I say “popped ‘em,” he jokes. Lame, you think to yourself; although you fight back a smile. You don’t miss the warmth that spreads throughout your chest, and fear it creeps into your cheeks. You shake your head, “Should’ve gotten it the first time,” you quip back and begin to stand. Rising, your legs ache from having been lying prone for so long.
Dismantling the rifle, you begin to return it to its case when you feel a hand land on your shoulder.
Squeeze.
“That’s what practice is for.” your captain reassures you. You knew you were being hard on yourself - in reality you were a great shot. Your skills and potential as a sniper are what had led Laswell to pick up your file months before. She had observed you in action before recommending you to Price, adamant that you would be a great fit on the team and prove to be a useful asset. Amazingly to you, he seemed to agree. It’s why you were receiving this extra training, courtesy of Price himself. You were only embarrassed because you had missed in front of your captain. Who definitely did not make you nervous.
“Yeah” you respond lamely, latching the case shut, throwing it over your shoulder, and turning to walk back to base. Price sighs, “Y/N.”
Oh no, you thought, he’s using his captain's voice.
You turn around to face him and your eyes meet. “What’s going on with you today? Been quiet. Been a bit off…” John trails off, unsure of how much he should say. “I know I was a little hard on you the other day-”
You cut him off before he can continue. The last thing you wanted was for him to believe that he had done something wrong - something to upset you. “No! No,” you respond quickly “you didn’t do anything - besides, I need to hear that stuff from you - during training. It’s what makes me better.” you see the corners of his mouth quirk up for a moment and you continue. “Sometimes…I just…wonder if I’m worthy of being on this team. I feel like I’m dragging behind. You’re all more experienced. You’ve all been doing this stuff longer…don’t wanna drag everyone down with me…” you finish your rant quietly. You don’t want to meet Price’s gaze and focus on a patch of dirt near your feet, convinced it’s suddenly become the most interesting thing in the world. His soft laughter breaks your concentration.
“You need to get out of that head of yours love - you are not dragging us - me, down,” it is not lost on you how Price made it a point to emphasize himself. Maybe you really were in your head too much. Price continues, “We help you because we want to. Help you because we have been doing this longer. We know what you’re about to deal with on this mission and want you to be as ready and prepared as you can be. Can’t have anything happening to you can we?” He grows more stern at the end of his explanation and you can’t help the smile forming on your face.
“Yeah, because I’m so valuable-”
“You are.”
Your laughter ceases and smile quickly leaves your face. Your eyes rake over Price’s face, serious as ever. Tension looms in the air over you two and your throat goes dry. “I mean it,” your captain doubles down. His eyes poured into yours. You were suddenly very aware of the flush spreading across your face and the way your mouth parted slightly at his words. “Understood,” you reply breathlessly, “...thank you, Captain.”
A beat of silence rings out between you two as you soak in each other’s words and stare into the other’s eyes.
“And don’t you forget it.” Price breaks the silence, his tone a bit more playful now as he takes the rifle case from your hands and begins down the path leading back to base. You jog after him, telling him you’re perfectly capable of carrying your own gun all while he chuckles.

Ch. 12 - Wedding
As you rode the bullet train back home, memories crept into your mind once more. This was especially so considering the cold shoulder Seiko was giving you. Something was different about them. You felt certain that they had been possessed but they still somehow had complete control. It was all a mystery to you. You'd lost your touch since you left sorcery behind to focus on something 'normal.' Clearly that came back to bite you on the ass.
Your mind wandered as the trees and buildings passed by your window. You began to recall your wedding and the pleasant disaster that it was.
Tumblr media
It took place at a grand hall in downtown Tokyo. It was quite regal-looking considering the modern buildings surrounding it. The hall itself was adorned with opulent decorations, vibrant flowers, and the soft glow of what looked like nearly a thousand candles. You'd picked none of it, save for your dress (which still had to be approved by the Gojo matriarch). It had all been arranged by the Gojo family, though they didn't get their way completely. Satoru was adamant on a non-Shinto wedding rather than what his parents had wanted. It was a small concession considering the marriage was arranged, they allowed it.
The guests had gathered, their eyes fixed on the large, extravagant entrance, waiting in anticipation for you to walk down the aisle -- a joining of two powerful families. Meanwhile, your heart raced as you stood behind the two polished, wooden doors. You stood alone with two attendants ready to open the doors for you. Your palms felt incredibly sweaty around your bouquet and you'd hoped your makeup hadn't begun to smudge -- as if that mattered, you didn't want this... Your father stood by, watching you carefully as you fidgeted with a petal on your bouquet. There wasn't much he could say, he knew you were upset with him.
Suddenly, as the sound of piano filled the air, the two attendants quickly pulled back the door and your shocked expression was revealed to the crowd. You swallowed tightly and stood a little straighter just as you were queued to begin walking, your father's arm linked with yours. Your mind repeated the mantra 'don't trip, don't trip, don't trip' over and over. You tried your best to stare ahead but looking at Satoru at the altar was incredibly daunting.
He had a closed-lipped smile, hands clasped in front of him, and that classic, black blindfold across his lids. His mother had griped about him wearing his blindfold when she was assisting you in getting ready, saying how he could tolerate twenty minutes of wearing nothing for appearances. His suit was perfectly tailored to his body as the candlelight twinkled off his shoulders. His appearance almost made you...nervous. And he was completely unfazed.
As you came closer and closer, keeping your eyes locked on him for a bit of confidence, his grin widened to its signature. But you noticed that, perhaps, there was a subtle glint of nervousness in the twitching of his lip. He'd never been one to show vulnerability, even on such a significant occasion. But you wouldn't be one to point it out when you felt the exact same way.
When you stepped up to the altar, handing your bouquet to the woman staged behind you, your father placing your hand in Gojo's before sitting next to your mother, you exchanged a nervous glance with your partner. You were wondering what was going through his mind. This entire wedding was perfectly orchestrated, and this was all part of a business arrangement. Your life was being signed away in these very moments.
The ceremony proceeded as normal, vows were exchanged and your thoughts raced. You could hardly mumble out your 'I do,' a pathetic attempt after Gojo's perfectly acted enthusiasm. But that was when the officiant looked between you both with a smile, "you may now kiss the bride."
From the corner of your vision, you swore you could see your parents hold their breath. All eyes were on you and Satoru. Your heart pounded in your chest as you stood there awkwardly, your nerves getting the best of you. This part wasn't discussed, you honestly hadn't even thought about it. You knew the tradition, but you couldn't help but wonder what this kiss really meant in the context of your arranged marriage. Did it really matter?!
Satoru, seemingly confident, didn't waste a single moment. Just as you saw your parents from your peripheral vision, Satoru used a gentle yet decisive motion to close the gap between you, hands delicately placed on your hips, and leaned down to press his lips to yours. The guests gave light applause as he lingered, big smiles on all of their faces as if they didn't just witness a forced marriage. Your eyes fluttered shut and hands rested on his forearms when you settled into the act, your face still hotter than ever as embarrassment flooded your mind.
His kiss was warm and tender, the taste of promise and a future together. In that brief moment, it felt as though the world had stopped and it was just the two of you. The kiss was a gesture, but for just a minute, you swore it held a glimmer of hope and something more. As you both pulled away, a sense of unforeseen wonder filled you. You looked up at him nearly cross-eyed as he stayed a few inches from you in contemplation before pulling completely back. You couldn't predict what the future held for your arranged marriage, but that kiss, however arranged, had a touch of genuine emotion that left you with a sense of confusion.
With the light applause beginning to die down, Satoru did the unexpected, a way to get under his parents' skin without 'breaking the rules.' As you looked out into the crowd, finding your former classmates standing in ovation with everyone else, you found your feet suddenly floating. Satoru had scooped you up unannounced as if you were light as a feather. You blinked hard in astonishment as you looked up at him, your jaw slightly agape. He looked down toward you with a cocky half-smile before turning back to the crowd with an even wider grin, it was infectious. You held onto his neck for dear life as he began to walk down from the altar and down the aisle.
The movement earned him some laughter and a bit louder applause from the crowd. Joy had filled the room unexpectedly. Meanwhile, though Satoru ignored it, his father was pinching the bridge of his nose as his face grew ever-so red. His mother covered her mouth in shock as her eyes trailed the two of you. Nonetheless, Satoru's confident strides never faltered.
Just as he left the threshold of the grand entrance, he carefully set you down on your feet, his hands lingering on your waist for a moment as you found your footing. His gaze from behind the blindfold bore into yours as your eyes met. His expression appeared a little too satisfied, even as the two of you turned to face the guests. He gave a deep bow as if he had given some kind of performance as you stood by with flushed cheeks, unsure of your next move. You knew this was just the beginning of your arranged marriage journey, but in that moment, carried down the aisle by the Satoru Gojo, it felt like the start of something extraordinary.
Tumblr media
The reception was held in the same hall, just in a different room better set for a fancy meal. While the guests filtered into that room, you and Satoru had to attend to your formal wedding photos. Much to your expectation, the room where the photos would be captured was incredibly formal. It was small yet filled with extravagant architecture that almost looked something like the European renaissance.
When you had entered, you were quickly rushed about by a very stressed photographer. You were moved around like some kind of life-sized Barbie doll as was Satoru. Their instruction was impeccable, ensuring each shot was perfect. Though, Satoru couldn't go without having some fun at the expense of the stressed photographer. Against their instruction, with nearly each shot, he'd dare to pull you closer with his arm tight around your waist. His eyes, now without their blindfold for the pictures, never left yours.
"Smile, Y/N," he whispered as he looked down at you, merely inches away. The effect of his words sent a shiver down your spine. You couldn't help but smile, albeit with a hint of exasperation as the camera snapped.
The photographer directed you both to now stand side-by-side, your wedding attire radiant in the golden sunlight that peeked in through the large windows. Satoru's hand found its way to your lower back, his touch light and electrifying. As the photographer prepared their camera once more, Satoru leaned sideways toward you to whisper in your direction.
"You look gorgeous, Mrs. Gojo," he snickered before standing up straight.
You rolled your eyes at his antics, "don't get ahead of yourself, Satoru," you replied, trying to maintain a facade of protest though your heart couldn't help but flutter at his charming audacity.
Tumblr media
With the photos complete, the two of you made your way to the reception, entering following your grand announcement as Mr. & Mrs. for the very first time. It was a time for celebration, laughter, and heartfelt toasts -- though it all felt incredibly forced. Despite it all, the atmosphere was filled with jubilation and warmth. If it's a reason to drink, those in power didn't care at whose expense.
Amidst the formalities, Satoru seemed to be behaving rather well, at least by his family's standards. He exchanged pleasantries with guests, listened attentively to speeches as they came, and danced with you as any groom should. However, it didn't take long for him to stir things up. As his father took the stage to give his speech and offer a toast, Satoru saw an opportunity for mischief. His sly grin almost twinkled as he moved into action.
You and Satoru were enjoying your dessert at your own private table toward the front of the room where guests could 'ogle' at the 'happy' couple. As his father began speaking, Satoru motioned for one of the waitstaff, a young woman who was carrying a tray filled with chocolate-covered strawberries. With a devilish grin, he whispered something into her ear as she leaned toward him. She hesitantly nodded, not wanting to disobey a guest. Meanwhile, you watched as Gojo reached into the jacket pocket of his suit and pulled out a thin, plastic container. It held a single, oddly shaped pepper coated in chocolate. You were honestly impressed, the damn thing did look like a strawberry. Satoru took one of the strawberries, quickly biting down on it as he replaced it with the chili pepper.
While the senior Gojo continued speaking on love, family, and tradition, the waitress presented the tray, making sure to position it in a way that he would take the pepper Satoru had planted. Continuing to speak, he took it without a second thought, giving a polite nod to the waitress as she dismissed herself. Between words, he took a bite of the 'strawberry,' expecting a burst of sweetness. It took a fraction of a second for the fiery spice to register on his taste buds. His eyes widened and his face turned various shades of red. He cleared his throat but continued his speech, struggling to maintain his composure. You swore you could see sweat beads starting to form on his forehead.
"Satoru," you whispered, leaning in his direction as he continued munching on his strawberry.
"Yeah?" He inquired with his mouth full, voice at regular volume.
"Doesn't your dad have a heart condition?" You asked with concern as the man on the other side of the room, spotlight on him, continued to avoid choking on the spice.
Satoru gave a single laugh and placed the strawberry top on his dessert plate. "Yeah, yeah he does."
You leaned back, realizing that Satoru didn't quite care about the logistics of his prank. You could only watch as the man finally caught a breath.
His father's voice was strained and a bit shaky as he concluded the speech he was attempting to give, "and to my son, who...always keeps...life interesting." He spoke through gritted teeth, raising his glass, though not without a hint of resentment.
The guests, who were a bit thrown off by watching his brief struggle, gave nervous applause and took sips of their champagne. The tension in the room from the event had then transformed into an awkward blend of amusement and discomfort. Satoru's chuckles were contagious as you sat next to him. He raised his glass with everyone else, a sly and unapologetic grin playing on his lips. While his prank had been quite the shake up, it certainly made the reception unforgettable. However, it was clear that his father's anger smoldered beneath the surface.
The glittery evening continued despite the mishap. As you gulped down more and more champagne, you found it easier to loosen up and actually enjoy the night somewhat. Perhaps after everything, you had thought this marriage had possibility.

Happy Birthday Patton!
A nice little Moceit one shot I speed wrote for Patton’s birthday! :D
Inspired a little by Law and Order SVU, no warnings just a little hurt/comfort :)
I'm starting from scratch with a writing taglist, if you would like to be added, let me know!
Happy Birthday Patton.
Word count: 1,031
Platonic/Pre-romantic/Romantic Moceit- whatever you would like to see it as :)
Janus sat on the sofa staring at the floor, deep in thought about how much of a rollercoaster life had become recently. He had made himself well and truly known to the others, the drama wasn’t usually his forte, but he wanted to make sure his entrance was spectacular. He had torn everything apart, he had pieced one tiny section back together, it was a tiring existence for him recently. Despite the turmoil he had caused, there was one constant light in his life.
Patton.
As much as it sca- pained him to admit it, Janus and Patton had been growing closer recently, despite Janus’ adamant sarcasm in the latest video calling Patton ‘his bestie’. He actually found himself becoming fond on Patton’s company. He found himself baking cookies with Patton, reading classic novels to him when neither of them could sleep, watching Disney movie after movie with no complaints; just acceptance. Even the quiet moments were acceptable, just sitting in a comfortable silence without the chill in the air coming from the others. Janus noticed that his sarcasm was beginning to rub off on Patton ever so slightly. He smiled fondly as he remembered an exchange from the other day.
“What will you be doing when we’re 85?”
“Squabbling with you.”
“Now wouldn’t that be nice?”
They were both lonely, craving the company of someone who didn’t look at them with indifference or anger, so it was only natural that they would grow closer. That wasn’t such a bad thing after all, at least not in Janus’ mind.
“Hey, you!” Janus jumped when the cheery voice appeared out of nowhere, followed by someone collapsing onto the sofa next to him. It took all of two seconds for him to recognise that cat hoodie he lov- despised so much.
“If you’re trying to give me a heart attack, you’re going the right way about it!” He retorted, his tone dripping with sarcasm as Patton giggled, playfully hitting his shoulder.
“Oh c’mon, you know you love me!” Patton teased making Janus roll his eyes. If only he knew…
The comfortable silence filled the space until Janus glanced over and noticed Patton looking at him with nothing but worry in his eyes. Could he really make the choice to step back? Step back from Patton?
“Hey. What’s going on in that mind of yours?” He heard Patton try to mask the concern in his voice as he felt as hand rest on his arm. Janus sighed and rested his gloved hand on top of Patton’s.
“Oh you know, just thinking about how I could ruin the next thing we have to face.” Janus bitterly answered, the realisation hit Patton like a freight train and he forced Janus’ chin up to look him in the eyes.
“Talk to me. Please?” Patton pleaded quietly, the tone of voice that Janus just couldn’t say no to. He sighed and began to open up to the one person he knew wouldn’t judge him… because they needed each other.
How could he broach this in a way that wouldn’t hurt Patton? He had already done that before, and it was something he swore he would never do again. The one time he caused Patton to spiral was the worst experience of his life, and one he was still regretting to this day.
"You know, when we started spending more time together, what five months a-"
"Six, actually." Patton interrupted with a smirk. Janus let out a chuckle as he removed the gloves from his hands. His mask being removed and letting the vulnerability show.
"Always have to have the final say, don’t you?” Patton shrugged and Janus bit the bullet, continuing like he was saying. “Before we met... The world was an old movie, it was all black and white. Then you, you started to meddle your way into my world and the black and white became different shades of grey. Before I knew it... There were blues... and greens and yellows and reds...”
He couldn’t help but smile when he listed the colours, as he watched the concern from Patton’s face melt away into fondness and happiness, especially when blue was mentioned first. Despite his reputation of lying, every word was true. He had been caught in a monochrome world until Patton showed him colours, how the world isn’t set in its ways. He could be happy with Patton, even when the rest of them told him he was just shifty and untrustworthy.
“You... opened my heart, Patton... And I thank you for it..." Janus felt tears sting the corners of his eyes as he saw the concern flood Patton’s face again.
"And?"
"I- I have to step back, before anyone else gets hurt." He heard Patton gasp and turned his face away.
“No. No! Don’t you dare!” Patton’s voice echoed off the walls. Janus raised an eyebrow in confusion, why was it such a big deal?
“You can’t… you can’t step back. I absolutely won’t let you! I need you, Jan. And I have to go LilyPadton mode to make you understand that, then so help me-” Janus smiled fondly at the nickname and gently put a finger in Patton’s lips to stop him from talking, then rubbed his cheek softly with his thumb.
“Alright. I’ll stay, but only for you.”
The comfortable silence fell between them once again and then the clock beeped indicating midnight. Janus suddenly realised what day it was.
“Oh! Before anything else…” He quickly got off the sofa and ran to his room, grabbing a small blue bag with a gold bow around it. Janus came back to see Patton looking confused, so he handed over the bag.
“Wow, you’re early! Thank you, Jan!” Patton gasped excitedly as he took the gift and peeked inside. Janus chuckled as he loaded up ‘Tangled’ on the DVD player, he knew that neither of them would getting sleep anytime soon. He sat down next to Patton again and let him cuddle up while the opening credits rolled.
“I just wanted to be first… Happy Birthday Patton.”

LEIGH'S RIDICULOUSLY BIG TBR/TBW LISTS
like i mentioned before i am too busy/hesitant to actually consume a lot of new media (or at least be able to focus on it) so i'm critically behind on so much stuff. don't judge me pls :S lmao

This Thing Between Us: A Novel - Gus Moreno

^^ This is an incomplete list--I know there are others but these are the books I've bought over the past couple years and have not yet finished/ready. They are stacked on my desk and around my room, silently accusing me of neglect. I wither in shame. The rest of the list escapes me currently. This also doesn't include the tbrs currently on my e-reader since I can't remember where it is to see what's on there.
MOVIES/MEDIA TO WATCH:
Any Adam Driver movie that isn't on Netflix (House of Gucci, Annette, Paterson etc.) I have seen the Last Duel, Blackkklansman, This is where I leave you, Marriage Story, White Noise, Frances Ha and a few others). I know Ferarri is in theaters right now but I've kind of developed a phobia of theaters since 2020 :S
a ridiculous number of documentaries/video essays on youtube that I do not have the energy to go look for right now
Fall of the House of Usher (I love Mike Flanagan's work but I'm still hooked on Midnight Mass and Daddy Father Prewitt)
The Haunting of Bly Manor (I know everyone was obsessed with this and I meant to watch it but I was reading the Turn of the Screw when it came out and didn't want to get spoiled for it so I avoided it like the plague and finished the book but never got to watching the show)
Blue Eye Samurai
The Beguiled
Ugly Betty (I'm actually on season 2 and it's charming and funny but holy shit the amount of body shaming/slut shaming/ homophobia in this show. definitely a product of its time.)
Anne with an E
Fleabag (never finished it but thought it was amazing)
What we do in the shadows (have seen all but the most current season)
Reservation dogs
The Batman (2023)
Black Swan
The Crown
Band of Brothers
Demon Slayer
Whiplash
Wolf of Wall Street
Birds of Prey
Downton Abbey
Peaky Blinders
Nimona
Drag me to Hell
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Queen Charlotte (halfway through but haven't finished. i hate things that make me cry when i watch them so i have to be in a very specific mood to watch emotional heavy things)
Lady Bird
The Banshees of Inisherin
BARBIE (*ducks thrown rocks* I'll get to it, i SWEAR) (but i'm amazing at avoiding spoilers at this point i still know very little about the movie)
Men
Pearl
The Invisible Man
The Turning
Succession
Suspiria
Promising Young Woman
Shiva Baby
Luca
The Green Knight
Licorice Pizza
Bullet Train
The Menu
Women Talking
Knives Out + Glass Onion (*ducks more thrown rocks*)
Paddington 2!!!!
SHadow and Bone (honestly I lost almost all interest in reading/watching this once I heard the hot villain dies. BOOOO)
Carol
That one newish show with Adam Scott that looks super liminal and sci fi i can't remember the name
The Killing of a Sacred Deer
Oppenheimer
Killers of the Flower Moon
Guardians of the Galaxy 3
M3gan
Turning Red
Everything Everywhere All At once
Nope
Barbarian
Just like the book list, I'm sure there's many other titles I'm forgetting to put here. I actually have branched out and watched a fair amount of new movies this year so i'm going to keep it going! and here's one more list just because this is fun
Stuff I watched or read in 2023 that I loved/recommend (with the caveat that not all of this came out in 2023): (and i'm not including obvious stuff like Spider man across the spiderverse)
White Noise
Don't Look Up
Living in the Time of Dying (documentary on Youtube. It is HEAVY on existentialism and the science/data on the current state of climate change. This WILL ruin your day so I'm warning you now. Definitely don't watch it today. This really affected me and I cried for a long time after watching this but it is incredibly important to keep in mind.)
Blackkklansman (i had to watch this with the volume on the lowest setting bc of all the n words being dropped so frequently lmao but goddamn this was so good and funnier than i expected.)
DIMENSION 20: Burrow's End!!!!! As well as The Unsleeping City season 1. Neverafter and A Crown of Candy are probably at the lower end of the list but I still love them. (thank you to @rogueimperator for cluing me onto how amazing D20 and Dropout are. <3 this is a whole new world lol)
Midnight Sun :)
7. Christine and the Queens - Redcar les adorables étoiles Full show on Youtube. I was supposed to see him live in October but he got injured and had to cancel the rest of his tour :( but this album and the video are incredible! Slight warning for semi nudity.
8. Game Changer on Dropout. he's been here the whole time!
9. The 1975 live at Madison Square Garden. I was lucky enough to see them twice this tour with my twin sister and we had an absolutely amazing time. They always put on amazing shows and this particular tour/their latest album meant so much to us. Even our younger brother has come with us for some of these shows so it's something we all share. (Last time they came to Chicago in 2022 the venue was too small so they didn't have the House set with them so we didn't get to see it in action until this year) Sex and The Sound will always be the perfect closers for their shows and I get so emotional every time I hear them. Core memories for sure.
10. Puss in Boots: the last wish. this seems like another obvious answer that i probably could have left off but this gets an honorary mention because our family cat was diagnosed with advanced bone cancer in August, and we had to put him down very soon after that diagnosis. We spent an agonizing week tending to him and cherishing every last second we could get with him. I've been fortunate enough to never experience the death of a pet until this year, and i almost wish we didn't have any pets at all because I've never felt such excruciating grief. He was a fat, grumpy orange boy with beautiful yellow stripes and a little yellow mustache. I was trying to distract myself and found this movie on Netflix and watched it, then recommended it to my sister (who is actually Thomas's owner but we all shared him) though I warned her the movie did deal with themes on mortality. We all watched it together the night before his final vet visit and Tommy was there with us on a comfy pillow. I hope he approved of the movie, because now any time I think of Puss in Boots i think of him. <3
I could add more to this but my eyes are tired and I'm wired up from coffee. I know this is long as hell so sorry but I had fun making it! I'll probably keep coming back to this post in the future to cross out what I've watched.

Hi! Hope you're having a good day! If you have time, maybe some headcannons of Yandere Lloyd Hansen or Six/ Court Gentry for the Gray Man.
Your writing is incredible!!!
Thank you so much! That means the world to me! 🥹 Thank you for the request and I hope you like it! I picked Yandere! Six. I feel like this man isn’t written as a dark character enough, but if he snapped. I feel like he would snap completely. So-
Trigger warnings: stalking, unhealthy obsession, non con, basement wife, drugging, and kidnapping (this is a dark fic).
Tumblr media
You blinked in shock at the tv and put down the pot of coffee you had just finishing brewing.
“And this is the horrible devastation left in the wake of the recent Prague tragedy.” The female news anchor shuffled her papers before the screen flickered to different shots of the city. Some showing a square full of bullet holes and the other showing a detailed train. “Officials say that the shootout started in this very square after a detained suspect-“
“Turn that shit off Y/n.” The cook said gruffly, with a bit of sadness in his tone. “The customers won’t want to see this.” His brow furrowed as he kept his eyes on the screen. Adam Matthews had owned the Over Easy diner for 20 years, and he now sighed as you turned the channel onto a random movie marathon.
“It’ll get better.” He said roughly. “They’ll give the people there the money they need to rebuild and they’ll be fine.” You weren’t sure if he was trying to convince you or himself of that fact. “I’mma head back to the kitchen.”
You nodded as he walked away and got back to work filling up the line of white mugs in front of you.
You had carefully filled the mugs, and started to walk them down the customers who had ordered them when the front door’s bell rang.
“I’ll be right with you!” You shouted over your shoulder as you leaned down to place the mugs in front of a cute elderly couple. “Would you like any cream or sugar with that?” You asked them in a lower tone.
“Oh no thank you dearie, my Phillip and I won’t stay awake if it has anything extra.” You huffed out a lighthearted chuckle at that. “We’ll if either of you change your mind I’ll be at the counter. ” You said, shooting them a small smile.
They gave you a quick ‘thanks’ before returning to their meal. And you finally turned towards the front door. Waiting at the counter was a tall man wearing a dark blue hoodie that covered his face.
“Welcome to Over Easy Diner, what can I get for you today?” You chirped, walking behind the counter.
“I’ll take a black coffee.” He raised his head slightly and took off his sunglasses.
You gasped as you took in the man’s familiar face.
“Court?!” You gasped excitedly as you attempted to hug the burly man over the counter. “My god what- where have you been?”
He gave you a sad smile as he chucked his glasses lightly on the counter. “Well getting sent to prison kinda causes you to lose touch with people.” He said softly.
“So it’s true? You did kill him? Your father?” You whispered softly.
He nodded slowly, looking around the diner as he spoke. “And I’ll tell you everything that’s happened since then when I can, but we need to leave. Now.”
You snorted at that. “We’ll I’m free after my shift, I get off at 5 if that-“
“No. We need to go. Now.” He hissed desperately. “Y/n I know this isn’t fair, but I’ve done some shit.” He swallowed nervously. “Bad shit that’s made me many enemies that would want to hurt someone- anyone I care about.”
“Court, we dated once 10 years ago in high school, and I thought you were still in prison just five minutes ago. We were 16, 16 year olds date people all of the time. It’s not like you kept my picture this whole time or something.” You laughed as you poured him his coffee. He stayed silent for a second.
“Y/n. I- I know what happened and I may have been prevented from seeing you until now, but I might’ve kept some tabs on you.” He shrugged and looked at the counter.
“You’ve been watching me?” You hissed loudly. “Jesus Court, what the hell!”
“Y/n you need to be quiet I swear I-“
“Alright that’s enough Ken doll. It’s time to go, listen sweetheart. You’re coming with us, either conscious or unconscious so-“ You were interrupted by a man dressed in a tight polo shirt and frat boy mustache.
“You said I had five minutes.” Court hissed at the man next to him.
“Yeah well that was before the CIA was on their way. So am I drugging her or not?” He waved a white cloth in his hand exasperatedly.
Your eyes widened when you realized that he was serious and you slowly looked towards the kitchen door.
“You wanna try it?” The man gave you a leering look. “I always did like a chase.”
“Shut up Lloyd.” Court said, throwing up the divider and walking quickly behind the counter. “We aren’t drugging you Y/n.” He looked pointedly at Lloyd at that. “But we do need to go now.”
“The fuck did you do to piss off the CIA?” You sputtered as he dragged you towards the door.
“Long story that we don’t have time for, so let's just get a move on.”
“Hey!” A booming voice shouted from behind the three of you. “You let her go or I swear to god I’ll chop your fucking hands off, you hear me?” Adam shouted, waving his meat clever as he strode over menacingly.
“Oh for fucks sake.” Lloyd sighed, before pulling out a gun and shooting him in the forehead.
You screamed at the loud sound, and the diner erupted into chaos as patrons hid under tables and screamed in fear. The elderly couple you had served earlier were under their table and the wife had her phone in her hand.
“My way it is then.” He shrugged before grabbing your face and shoving the cloth over your mouth and nose.
You smelled a strong chemical scent and clawed at his arm as he pressed it tighter against your mouth. “Your girl’s got some claws Gentry. Do me a favor and pop open the door.”
Your vision grew blurry and as you fought to not inhale the chemicals as you were dragged towards the door. Your head pounded as the familiar bell chimed again. Your lungs burned as you finally took in a deep breath and your eyes grew heavy.
“She’s- out- van.” You heard Lloyd say, his sentence being chopped up unnaturally from the drugs starting to take effect.
The last thing you saw before you blacked out was Court leaning down to brush away a stray hair. A large grin on his face.
—————-
When you opened your eyes the area around you was blurry, and your limbs seemed to weigh you down.
You let out a low grumble as you tried to move your hands, to no avail.
“It’s not a good idea for you to move around just yet baby. The drug’ll take some time to wear off.”
You let out a loud murmur as you noticed Court sitting at the end of the bed. He crawled closer before laying gently beside you. He sighed happily as he wrapped his arms around you and rubbed your arm soothingly.
“Hate that it had to come to this.” He said softly. “Would’ve preferred not to have Lloyd tag along, and pick you up myself, but the boss doesn’t trust me yet.” His brow furrowed at that.
You once again tried to move, begging your legs to kick or even twitch but they stayed put.
“That was the deal.” Court seemed far away as he talked now. “I get you, they get what I can do.”
You managed to scrunch your nose. So the drug must have started to wear off.
“Shit, forgot you didn’t know.” Court sighed. “Well, I did go to prison. It sucked, big shocker I know, but a few years in, this agent came in and offered me a job. They’d train me to be a CIA agent and I’d get out of that hole. Well not really an agent I guess.” He rambled. You vaguely remembered enjoying his rambles back in high school, but now he talked about going to prison as if it were a normal occurrence.
“I technically completed missions for them, but like I also technically…” he stopped to air quote the word technically. “…didn’t exist.” He shrugged at that. “After a while, leadership changed and the program I was in, the Sierra program, got the axe. But the new guy in charge, Carmichael, tried to kill me. You and long story short I’m still alive so he offered me a job instead. There.” He said with a satisfied smile. “All caught up.”
You let out another sluggish, unintelligible sentence as he started to fiddle with the buttons of your uniform.
“I thought about you.” He murmured softly as he undid your top button. “Everyday since I got arrested.”
You blinked as your vision began to sharpen and focus. And noticed the dull gray room surrounding you.
“I know it’s not much.” Court said, still keeping his eyes on you. He must have seen your eyes darting across the room. “But I’m sure you’ll find a way to spruce it up. Make it more homey.”
You eyes widened at that as he lifted your back off the bed to slide your dress off. His movements are easy and smooth as he lifts you effortlessly before laying you back down.
“I know, I know.” He cooed gently. “It’s a lot to take in.” He rubbed your thighs gently before cupping your heat. “I’d love to be here every minute of the day with you, but tomorrow I’ve gotta get to Budapest.” He sighed dejectedly. “I’ll be back soon though, especially since Lloyd-“ he spat his name out with a scowl. “-is in charge of watching you while I’m gone.”
You started to breathe heavier as what he said sank in. You don’t want to be left alone with that creep. You didn’t like the way he eyed you and down, similar to the way Court was looking at you now.
He slowly inched down your underwear as he continued. “But that’s tomorrow, we still have tonight.”
You felt tears rise as he slid them off quickly before straddling you and starting to undo his belt.
“I‘ll go slow.” He said breathlessly as he took at his large length. “Or I’ll try to at least.” He smirked at that before rubbing his tip at your entrance. “Gotta get you nice and wet for me baby.” He tilted his head as he focused on stimulating your clit.
You gasped as he unexpectedly shoved his fingers in and scissored them around you skillfully. You briefly wondered how many times he had done this to get this skilled, but your thoughts were cut off as you felt the pleasure start to build inside of you.
You groaned as he took out his fingers and wiped them off on his pants. “Sorry sweetheart, but the only way you’re cumming tonight is on my cock.” He shot you a sick smile as he lined himself up with you again, and then slowly pushed himself in.
You made a strangled noise as he went deeper, his eyelashes fluttering as you gripped him like a vice. “Fuck.” Court’s hand moved to grip your hips tightly and pulled you closer onto him. “Just as tight as I imagined.” He huffed out a laugh as he fully slid in.
“C-Court-“ you managed to squeak out, silently begging him to stop.
He only smiled wider as he pulled himself out. “Say it again.”
You gasped heavily as you stared at him. His hair was all messy and his pupils were dilated. “Court- please-“ you begged.
“God I love hearing you say my name.” He said softly, and paused slightly before slamming back into you.
You screamed as he started to set a rough pace, shaking the bed that you were on with his hard thrusts. “So good.”
You felt your back arch as he hit the deepest spot inside of you that made you moan loudly.
“My good girl.” He said, sweating as he pounded into you.
“Oh god you feel so good.” He gasped. You vaguely heard the sound of skin slapping and a lewd wet noise in the background, but it was drowned out by the pleasure filling you with warmth.
“You gonna cum?” He rasped out, his hips slowing slightly. “I am. And I wanna feel you milk me ok sweetheart?” He didn’t wait for an answer before rubbing your clit enough to have you let out a silent moan.
You tried to fight the feeling, but as he continued his movements, you felt your resolve break and you clenched him tightly as you came with a loud moan.
Above you, Court let out a loud moan as he felt you grip him tighter than before, and you felt another warmth rush into you as he came. “So good.” He breathed out heavily, before leaning down to kiss your forehead.
“I already have the nursery put together, you’ll be the best mother.”

Hi M,
Hope all is well. New movie to rave about. Spoiler alert with Jim Parsons and Ben Aldridge was amazing. Not a dry eye in the theater. I just started watching Pennyworth on HBO Max and really enjoy Ben and was happy to see him in this. I hope it does well although at my LA showing tonight the theater was not full. Let me know your thoughts if you check it out. ☮️
Hello ☮️ anon!
It’s on my list to see asap!! I just saw Busy Phillips post about it earlier and she was a wreck
I love a good cry, I can’t wait to check it out. All the reviews I’ve seen so far have been fantastic but now it’s confirmed I’ll need to have tissues on hand 🤧
I finally gave in and binged all of White Lotus a couple weeks back so now I’m all caught up for the finale on Sunday. Once that’s done, I’ll move onto Pennyworth 👀
I finally gave Amsterdam, Bullet Train, Top Gun: Maverick, and Black Adam a watch. Sad to say I didn’t like Black Adam as much as I hoped to. The script and some style choices for music and costuming just weren’t my cup of tea. That said, I loved the cameo at the end. There’s potential there for a strong franchise but DC really needs to get better writers on these projects.
Amsterdam and Bullet Train bored me. 😮‍💨 But wow was Top Gun a solid movie! I’m really not a big Tom Cruise fan but it did the original movie justice. Val Kilmer especially! Seeing him again was fantastic.
Tár and Till are finally available for streaming (to rent) so those will probably be next in my film queue. 🤓🍿

You’re untrustable
I know you wouldn't be if you could choose
Now I’m doing time
“That was just a bait and switch.”
Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know
Well, now they know
“You will not control the threesome. We formed a new religion.”
No sins as long as there's permission and deception is the only felony
Please don't play that song on me again, I'lI explode
I might know what you mean when you say you fall apart
“The reason so many people are here is about to walk out on that stage right now.”
Don't be all up on my french toast when that butter come ((when the TR —or perhaps someone pretending to be her— told me she was my twin sister for 36 lifetimes, I went to milk and roses and she told me what to order, and was adamant about the French toast.that was in May.)
Then you had the nerve to say you're hurt and I'm just like, 'you know what you chose'
There's several different levels to Devil worshippin': horse's heads, human sacrifices, cannibalism, candles and exorcism, animals
Look at me, entrancer!
I got the urge to move
I wander through each chartered street and mark in every face I meet, marks of weakness, marks of woe (mark linkous) but mostly, through midnight streets I hear how the youthful harlot's curse blasts the new-born infant's tear
You keep on building the lies that you make up for all that you lack
It's easier to believe in this sweet madness~~oh, this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees in the arms of the angel
(Both these are really nice; the ref to mark seeing himself in each person he passes, and that each time I fall, katie cradles my head. Fwiw, mark linkous is the only spirit who asked to be taken off the wall)
(Oh yeah one of the women who did black magic on me is in london)
We're supposed to be a land of liberty
We are thoroughly tongue tied
More chances to get Together
Now all your friends are gathered; we are thoroughly shattered
Our collective memories we jog as we negotiate the fog
When you get down to the truth, it hurts me
Wishful, sinful, wicked you
Can't escape the blue
Do you follow me?
Then follow me to:
Further complications in store.
Did you reel it like a rabbit
And did you see me sing this song
Where did it all go wrong
We travel on together searching for the end
Yes it really really really could happen
No one here is alone
“Don’t think about the fact that there might be police around.”
Arrest that dude
“Dude I don’t think I can ride with you.”
Must have been a ghost that passed out
Hey you’re not a criminal but you do need to relax
This bed blows up in three minutes
You can store a mattress too…. in the fucking bedroom(the mattress they did their satanic shit on is against the wall)
I’m never gonna love again
Can we start all over again
The more that you see the less you seem to be free
And when I wrote it down I felt like such a clown but you understood; I knew you would
“…and I’m ready to shape the scheme of things.”
Just as long as I can see, I'll never stop this vision flowing
“Tell me the cost. I can pay.”
The sky's above our heads, the sea's around our legs
“What if I told you none of it was accidental?”
Strategy sets the scene for the tale
It was all by design
'Cause I'm a mastermind
Now I’m never gonna let you go
Out amongst the walking wounded, every face on every train is you and me and him and her, some days I think I could go insane
You were thinking ahead to a future you must have known deep down would not include you
My brain fails
My knees fail
My words fail
It happens today
She's gonna make them well aware
She's an angry gal
Day-In Day-Out
Shootin her with video-drugs-bullets and promises
They love to see me lonely, hate to see me happy
Call me what you want, she call me "daddy"
Something keeps love away and I can feel it
You claim you're not involved but you're in up to your neck
You said it would last, but I guess we enrolled in 1984
I keep seeing this picture of you
Hide my head, I wanna drown my sorrow
I find it hard to tell you.
You’re trapped
But you can't stick your neck out
We are rid of you at last

Wren’s WIP Masterlist
all my current wips! any projects that aren’t finished that i want to finish, someday, not necessarily what i’m working on right now. all oneshots unless stated otherwise, and longfics have an estimated length given. if i decide to fully abandon a fic (which rarely happens), i’ll take it off the list. feel free to ask me about anything here, it might motivate me to finish or give me a new idea!!
other posts have my completed fics and random concepts.
Priority WIPs
these are wips i’ve worked on in the past month and/or unfinished fics currently posted to ao3. listed in rough order of priority-within-priority.
dusk to dawn- sequel to swiftpaw’s chance, rewrite of the new prophecy focusing on whitewing and nightcloud, then squirrelflight and tawnypelt as well, with others thrown in for spice. 70 chapters, 200kish.
falling feathers (i’ll follow you home)- bnha D/s au, dabihawks, your standard hawks double agent fic but with all the angst of the au. secret relationships, miscommunication, enemies to ??? to ????? to ???????? to lovers?? very VERY long, 500k+.
running- wtnv fic inspired by this fic. after being attacked in his home, carlos flees, taking a near-suicide job in night vale. what he finds is very different from the strange, hostile town he expected, and he falls in love, makes friends, nearly dies a few times, but eventually…heals. longfic, maybe 80k?
whumptober prompts- i fizzled out around day 13, but i do want to complete them eventually, even if it takes a long time
to take up swords and strike the sea- pirate!inej fic post-ck. not kanej, not kaz friendly but not kaz unfriendly. inej gets a gf. both of them are trans but that’s just a bg element. 3 parts, 35kish.
Other WIPS
sorted alphabetically by fandom, then again by rough priority within fandom. priority is completely determined by vibes and i’m hardly going to shuffle the order around regularly, so even if something is on the bottom of a long list, don’t be afraid to ask about it!
Arcane
turning out of time- t4t jinxekko, post-canon in a magical world where everything is peace and happiness on both sides. they throw an anniversary party and discover fireworks are not a great idea for not-quite-girls who used to make bombs and now have ptsd.
BNHA
sleepless- just before the hero license exams, izuku throws himself into training, determined to catch up to his classmates and never fail anyone ever again. he also stops sleeping. bakugo, clumsily, helps, and cue romance.
burn ourselves to ashes (use the rubble for the parts)- todoroki, bakugo, and deku are supposed to just be making a grocery store run. then there’s a villain attack, a collapsed building, a bleeding-out deku, and…a need for someone to cauterize a wound. todoroki has Feelings about this.
pull my feathers one by one (put ‘em in your pocket when i’m gone)- dabihawks miscommunication/getting together fic ft all of hawks’s bird traits & HPSC bashing
The Old Guard
believe you hold the answers (but your feathers are all frayed)- nile convinces booker to break his exile, sure that once the others see him they’ll realize their mistake and let him come home. joe goes ballistic.
don’t care to beg your pardon (let’s live until we die)- mortal joenicky college au where joe volunteers to be a car crash victim in nicky’s paramedic training and promptly falls in love with his competence and beauty and nicky-ness. cue romance. might kick off a oneshot series in this vein?
it’s your wound, my sutures- fairly on-the-nose title, healing works a little too well and joe ends up with a bullet buried in his shoulder. nicky and andy perform impromptu diy surgery.
The Raven Cycle
lost in what you think of me (let me be the void you fill)- i take freaky friday, give it to pynch, and rub my trans feelings all over it bc they’re both trans in different ways in this one.
one forward, one back (lost in labyrinthine spirals)- sequel to “this black thing inside of me,” in the emetophobic!adam universe. a story about recovery’s ups and downs and weird triggers. i’m still projecting/venting.
call the ravens, call the swifts- wing au getting together, where adam’s wing gets injured, ronan helps, and they have a lot of good and bad feelings.
Six of Crows
taxidermy fingerprints, taxonomize our differences- wylan comes out to the crows as nonbinary. kaz is Very interested by this. everyone talks. kaz comes out to the crows as nonbinary.
Warrior Cats
the world ends eventually (so come with me)- blossomivy fic where the two decide to abandon the clans before the great battle. they don’t quite get away in time an have to fight their way out, but it’s worth it, to be together and happy.
Welcome to Night Vale
punishment by proxy- instead of taking cecil for reeducation, the secret police decide carlos will be a much more effective deterrent. cecil picks up the pieces.
intersecting realities- takes place during that arc where the universe almost collapsed, i’m not entirely sure where past me was going with it but it seems like cecilos are wrestling with reality and which universe to live in??

a/n: okay so i didn't intend to be so long on the wait for chapter two, but i lost inspo and kinda joy in this story for AWHILE. but we're back and while chapters may take me some time, i hope you still enjoy the story as a whole.
summary: seeing her again in person, being able to talk to her again, it brings back a feeling you didn't think existed anymore.
word count: 4.3k+
pairing: natasha romanoff x fem!reader
warnings: not explicit yet, cussing, violence, angst, mentions of blood, pining, some humor from our favorite yelena. let me know if i missed anything.
The streets of Budapest smelled the same, felt the same. When in reality it had been months since you’d been let out of the box; let out of your small cage he liked to keep you in. So, you walked. Attempted to find the target he wanted, whilst his Widows were propped on rooftops, their eyes everywhere. Which meant - you’d have to be careful about where you stepped.
Make a wrong move and you end up with a bullet in your spine. A perfect shot to leave you paralyzed; never enough to kill. Because daring to kill the Red Widow was the same as placing a target on their back; the same as taking away his pet. That’s all you were, was a toy he liked to play with. A puppet that moved the way he wished, your strings held tight enough to cut off even your circulation.
“Two minutes,” you muttered to yourself, slipping past a group of people and keeping your head down. They didn’t seem to notice a woman dressed in black with red inked onto the suit and even if they did - they never let it be known.
Better to keep moving anyways.
If you timed it right - and you always did - the target would be exiting the building onto this street as a way out, because you were the one who pointed her in the direction of where she needed to look. Gave her the tools without giving her who you were. For all she knew she managed it herself, but you give a person the right clues, the right signs, and they manage perfectly well on their own. After all, it's what you were taught.
She burst through the doors, her blonde hair tied up in a pony tail and clothes in a disarray as if she was running through the streets. For all you knew she was in fact doing just that. Running away from the place that threatened to keep her captive, and it felt like decades since you’d seen her. Since you were placed to train with her in that hell, and it left you with a hole in your heart. At the sight of her frazzled and sprinting away from everything.
“Fuck!” she shouted, seeing the red pointed at her chest.
Months ago you’d managed to get her free, to release her of the control they had over her mind, over everything about her, and now it was just a matter of keeping her in your sights. Which had proven to be difficult with a trained killer that knew how to disappear. Vanish from sight before your very eyes.
“Better to go right than left,” you said, watching as she froze in place. Her hands immediately went for the knife you knew was tucked in her side; a trademark move that she’d become known for.
Turning she faced you, her eyes widening slightly before she was sprinting at you. Her arm swiping the blade in your direction with only enough space for you to duck back. Your hand hitting the ground behind you before rolling away. The mission was to find her, not fight her, yet she seemed quite adamant on the fighting portion. Really she looked as if she wanted to kill you and you wouldn’t blame her if she did. If she took the knife and shoved it in your throat without mercy, because you were part of the reason why she was here.
Why she had become the way she was.
Catching you off guard she slammed you against the wall, her arm going against your throat, knife pressing into your jugular. The anger prominent in her expression; one that had been masked when she was under control of something else entirely. One move and you were gone. So you chose to stand still, barely even breathing, because she didn’t like you at the moment. At least not yet.
“Where the fuck have you been?” she spat out, eyes narrowing even further.
The question shocked you; had you reeling slightly with why she even cared. As far as you knew she hated you.
Unless…
“Tailing you.” Taking in a breath you glanced above her head at the roof where a flash of black clothing could be seen. They were onto her. “You’ve got three minutes before they show up. One minute to run. The address of a safe house is in my pocket, you’re going to need it with what’s going on.”
She huffed out a laugh, pulling back slightly to search where you said. “You ditch me for five minutes and suddenly you have a plan.”
“I was taking care of things.”
The words didn’t need to actually be said, because she knew what you meant. Taking care of things was you simply working for the man who you both wanted dead. The same one who seemed to still have control over you - if the chip in your neck was anything to go by. You were fucked the second they found out what you were doing - that you were working both sides of this. Trying to keep yourself from falling to pieces on the inside as you held everything together on the outside.
“And how is Natalia?” she asked, slipping the blade back into her pocket, checking her surroundings for signs of those who were tailing her.
You shrugged. “We don’t need her yet.”
She scoffed, kneeling to the ground and checking for the knife that she had stowed there earlier. A habit that has now become something you partook in doing as well. You couldn’t really blame her for being pissed - for wanting to fight you in the center of all this madness - because you had been the one to vanish first. Helping her get out was the easy part.
Orchestrating the vials of antidotes to be created was the hard part.
“We need to move,” you muttered, already hearing the footfalls of multiple Widows heading in your direction. Three more seconds in that place and you were as good as dead.
Or worse - captured once again to become the thing that neither of you wanted.
“You need to get her,” Yelena said, glancing behind her and yanking you sideways as the sight of two Widows sprinting down the street caught her eye.
Fleeing a place filled with trained trackers - trained killers - was harder than you anticipated and yet it felt easy with the help of Yelena. The gun in your hand was a safety blanket you always kept near you just in case something were to happen. At this moment it was a necessary safety precaution and you pulled the other one from your left thigh out, tossing it towards Yelena.
“Stay on guard. Get out of this place as soon as you can, do you hear me?” You didn’t begin moving until she nodded her head in agreement, already getting prepared to sprint for her life. “Find somewhere safe to hide. I’ll come find you.”
She took a breath, eyes turning cold in the afternoon light. The life, joy, everything that made her human now gone from her expression; the killer having returned in order to survive. It’s what she was trained to do. Survive above all else. Before she became a weapon, before her life was taken from her. She knew how to stay alive.
“What will you do?” she asked as you took a few steps away from her.
A smile curved on your lips, the sting of your tracker coming back to life no longer something that phased you. “I’m going to bring down the regime.”
It would take more than merely you - she knew this already - but if anyone would be able to take down the Red Room it would have to be someone inside. Someone who had become a personal hitman for the leader himself. There was a reason the Red Widow was not known, a reason why you chose to remain in that hell he dared to call your home.
You wanted to burn it to the ground, to free those who didn’t have the capabilities nor the freedom to do the same. A task that was worth risking everything in order to complete. Something that you knew - that everyone knew - and you’d play your part flawlessly. Become the Widow he wanted you to become while still clutching at the piece of you that remained. Adamant on keeping her alive for as long as humanly possible, because she was all you had - all that remained.
Giving time for Yelena to escape, you called out the Widows, letting them know that the area was clear and that it was time to return back home.

You heard her before you saw her and it’s what made you freeze. The hair on the back of your neck rising as chills ran down your spine, because she was here. After months of tailing her, of making sure that she knew what had to happen, you were about to see her again. Only you couldn’t let yourself be seen - couldn’t give in just yet, because things had to be handled accordingly.
Natasha did the one thing you expected her to do and that’s what had you remaining in the shadows. What kept you from waiting up in the apartment with Yelena. So, you perched yourself on a roof across the street; the cloak over your body was a way to obscure the suit you wore. The same one that Natasha would recognize the second she glanced in your direction.
She had brought the antidote back to Budapest. A mistake that she didn’t know she had just made, because now he knew. And he had sent two of his best out into the field in order to retrieve it.
The sting of your neck had become brutal - a remembrance that he was currently watching. Which meant you were stuck. Forced to fight on the side that kept you from her. You thanked Yelena for bugging the apartment with a small chip that could only be accessed by you. The com in your ear, keeping you attached to what they were saying - what they were doing.
“Shit,” you muttered, feeling the sting in your neck begin to painfully tear through your body. He wasn’t happy with the results he saw at present and wanted you to advance, only you had to remain where you were if you wanted any chance at helping them.
“You didn’t tell me she was alive,” Natasha’s voice came through the com and your heart twisted violently in your chest. Only adding to the excruciating pain that now coursed through the rest of your body.
Yelena’s scoff followed soon after, her voice breaking through the weak connection. “I didn’t exactly have contact with you. I was a little busy being a prisoner.”
They shifted rooms; the connection dropping as they moved further into the apartment. You wanted desperately to hear Natasha’s voice again, to know how she felt at seeing you again. To just speak to her. If only for an exchange of a few words here and there. Except the Widows had begun to take their places, surrounding the building which meant one thing - your time had come.
Yanking the cloak off, you attached yourself to the rope that hung off the edge of the building, descending at an alarming speed before landing to the ground in a sprint. They had to find a way out of the building on their own, but that didn’t mean you couldn’t help them. A Widow nodded in your direction and you signaled at her to begin the takeover, the batons held in your hands at the ready.
He didn’t fully have control over your movements just yet, which gave you the edge in everything. After all that was the agreement you two shared. You hunt the Black Widow - bring her back to him - and you get to keep some control over yourself. Get to hold a part of yourself in your hands which allowed you to toss the smoke bomb into the area. Shielding your movements as you entered the bottom floor of the apartment.
Taking a breath you waited the seconds it took for both Yelena and Natasha to come sprinting out of the room - heading straight for the roof. They would be able to make it out onto the street from there which left you with the remaining Widows. Leaping forward you slammed your baton into the chest of one who had begun to gain speed on the women, while kicking the other in the thigh. Only they never did stay down for long.
The bottom half of your face was covered - the smoke barring their vision from the suit you wore - completely concealing who you were. A hit to your ribs had you stumbling back into the wall, but you ducked down to the floor, rolling into a crouch in order to slam your other baton into one of their legs. She collapsed with a cry, the sound quickly being cut off by your knee slamming into her face.
Shoving the other Widow into the wall you managed to twist the wire you carried with you around her arms - attaching it to the curtain rod and leaving her there to find a way out. They would be fine - capable of fighting again - and it gave you enough peace of mind to go after Natasha and Yelena. The sounds of gunfire letting you know exactly how far they got.
You managed to get to the bottom floor, the puddle on the ground splashing against the mud that had accumulated on your boots. You’d have to change later. Go back to blending in with the crowd of people in the city in order to vanish like always. Except you had to see her - had to see if they made it out alive.
A splash echoed behind you; her voice seemed to waft through the air until it hit your ears and suddenly she was there. Crouching near a Widow on the ground, watching as Dreykov did what he was best at. Terminating his weapons when they were no longer fit to comply. You struggled to keep yourself in place as you watched her come to the realization that this was real - that the Red Room had never disappeared in the first place.
Taking a hesitant step forward you met her eyes as she raised her head. The pain slowly turned to disbelief, until it reached anger; her expression one that you constantly wore day in and day out. She reached behind her for a weapon, but froze at the sight of you raising your gloved hands in surrender. Removing the covering from your face to reveal yourself to her; to finally reconnect with the woman who held your heart in her hands.
“Lyubov moya.” She whispered it - the words barely being said, but you saw it. Saw the way her lips curved around the two words she used to call you all those years ago. Something you found amusing at the time now shattered your heart into pieces, because you couldn’t say it back.
Couldn’t do anything but stand there and watch as she came to finally realize one thing. You were truly alive and you weren’t free. Didn’t have the capabilities of freeing yourself until the very last second - until it was all said and done.
So, you smiled at her, the sadness in your eyes enough to show how much you wished to do more than this. How you wished to take her into your arms again and hear her repeat those words as many times as possible. Only things needed to change before you could return back to her life - before you could be yourself again. Natasha got to her feet; fully intent on coming up to you, but it was Yelena running out that had her turning away.
Leaving you to vanish - just as you always did.
They would find their way out of the city, find a way to remain safe and protected as you prepared yourself for the worst. Now leaving the tailing job to someone far more dangerous than even you. A sting in your neck let you know that it was time to return home and you began to collect what was left behind - wrapping the covering around your face once more in order to slip into the crowd of people.
Once again becoming Red Widow instead of her love.
Tumblr media
“I want to know how this happened,” he muttered - eyes seeming to stare directly into your soul. “How did they get away?”
“Miscalculation on my part.”
A hand slammed against the desk, causing you to meet his gaze once again. “Find them. Both of them and bring them home.”
You nodded, feeling your chest tighten as a memory of Natasha’s grief stricken face returned back to you. She didn’t know this bastard had remained alive. Didn’t know that the Red Room of all places still existed and you wondered how. At what point did her old life completely fall off her radar? She could still contact Melina, that much was true, but it seemed she only kept that around for the importance of having a connection to her past.
And at what point in all of this - had Natasha finally given up the memory of you? She had let go of her past to find a new life for herself, to make a new name, and yet some part of you hoped that she hadn’t let go of it entirely. That she still longed for you just as you did for her. Maybe that was the most heartbreaking part of it all - you wanted her to remember you.
“You have twenty four hours,” he said, patting your cheek roughly and bringing bile to the back of your throat.
You would happily shatter his wrist with one move if it weren’t for the restrictions causing you to stay in place. The smell that had your body resisting any action against him. Instead you shifted in the seat - your eyes glaring at the glass wall in front of you - as he gave you the orders of what to do. Of who to kill in order to bring in the women that he claimed as his.
A laugh nearly escaped you as he said those words. Even you knew that nobody - not even the women she cared for - could claim Natasha Romanoff. It would be an easier feat to survive the bite of a venomous spider than to lay a claim on her.
“Go.”
The relief washed over your body at the order to leave, because finally you could return to her. Could steal a few moments with her before you had to return to the cage he kept you in - a prison with no view of the outside world. No possibility of it. Clenching your fists you made your way through the halls of the facility, now partially free to leave and do what you had wanted to do for so long.
Return home.
Tumblr media
The car pulled into the empty driveway of the deserted house, music shutting off completely as the two women got out to inspect the area. Their footsteps breaking the dead leaves outside let you know where they were. A safe-house you had created specifically for Yelena now became the place to lay low as they waited for the morning sun to peek its head out again. You poured yet another shot of vodka, your feet resting on the table before you as the sounds of them walking the perimeter continued.
“Nobody’s out there,” you called out, downing the shot as if it was nothing but water.
“Are you sure?” Yelena pushed the front door open - the creak louder than her footsteps. “People might be buried out there.”
You smiled, getting to your feet. “That might be a possibility. It’s an old place.”
“No shit.” She pulled you in for a hug quickly, whispering a thank you into your shoulder before letting go just as fast. Her hands now reached for the bottle of vodka instead - clearly ready to unwind from the running she had been doing.
Fully intent on joining her, you didn’t hear Natasha come in. Didn’t see her until she was standing directly in front of you - her lips parting as she tried to say something. Only she was stuck in the same place you were. How do you greet someone you once thought was dead? How do you return back into their life?
“Hello,” you said, hearing Yelena scoff behind you.
“Hi,” she replied, lips pulling up into that small smile you had once claimed to be the perfect sight to wake up to. Something you couldn’t live without.
Yelena poured another shot, coming to stand beside the both of you. “That was awkward.”
Ever the humor you could count on, but in this case - she happened to be right. You didn’t know this version of the woman you once loved; the version of her that chose to be good rather than to follow orders. But that didn’t mean you didn’t wish to know her, because you did. More than anything you wished to know what she was like, how she took her coffee in the mornings. How she might be able to once again be yours.
“Drink?” you asked, pointing over your shoulder at the bottle that Yelena was downing like water. “Or...what’s left of it.”
She held her hands in surrender, the bottle still clutched in her left hand. “What? If no one else will drink it I will.”
“Can I have at least one shot?”
She slid the small glass across the table as you took a seat, settling into the chair as Natasha followed suit. Sitting beside you and taking her own shot. You wanted to ask her how she was, what had happened after she managed to escape, but knew that delving into a past that should remain buried was a mistake. She was no longer a part of your life, just as you were no longer a part of hers.
“Thank you,” she said, eyes raising to meet yours and you felt the breath catch in the back of your throat. “For helping us.”
You smiled, raising a glass towards her. “What are old friends for?”
She could see it - you knew she could - the way your smile didn’t quite reach your eyes. How you seemed to focus your attention on the surroundings around you rather than on her. It never used to be that way, but things change when you’re being hunted, when you’re constantly tracked due to who lays claim to the person you are. Thankfully you no longer had to deal with the tracking portion of the job, having figured out how to dismantle it when it came to you in the first place.
“You’ve been here this whole time?” she asked, not quite ready to hold your gaze for longer than a minute.
You nodded, reaching for the bottle to pour another drink. “Ever since you left me.”
Left me.
Natasha winced at the notion that her leaving entirely was a direct cause to you being captured once again by the Red Room. At first you had resisted whatever they did to you, forced yourself to fight against the psychological conditioning, but there was no getting past the drug. No fighting something that worked its way into your brain.
“I should have-”
Raising a hand you met her gaze whether she liked it or not, holding it for as long as possible. “There was no saving me Natalia.” She smiled at hearing her name fall from your lips. “I was gone even before you stepped foot outside of Budapest.”
She nodded, glancing down at the drink as Yelena regarded the both of you with caution. “Right. Please tell me you’re not planning on taking down the entire-”
“I’m planning to take down the Red Room,” you said.
Her head fell back. “Fuck. That’s what I thought you’d say.”
Natasha smiled, raising the bottle to her lips and taking a swig of the liquid. Ever so talented with her ability to hold the alcohol she consumed. There was a time when you were impressed by it, and it seemed that nothing had changed except for the fact that your eyes had now fallen to her lips. The memory of how they felt pressed against your skin popped into your brain, until you were caught staring.
Her eyes dilated right as you looked away, because she knew what you were thinking about. Saw the way that you were shifting in your seat and turning your attention back to Yelena.
“That’s a shit ton of work,” she mumbled, staring into her empty shot glass.
“Could be fun,” Natasha replied, her lips curving into a smile.
You poured another shot, handing the bottle off to Natasha who raised it in the direction of Yelena who sat up straight once more. Her eyes once again analyzed the both of you as if she expected you to combust the second she looked away. Who knows - you very well might have. After years away from Natasha you weren’t sure how to react, not after what happened between the both of you after your last night together.
“If I die because of this,” she muttered, raising her glass. “I’m haunting the both of you.”
“I wouldn’t mind that,” you said, glancing Natasha’s way again and hoping that she understood what you meant, your words as double edged as the knife she had given you.
She smiled in response, her lips wrapping around the mouth of the bottle once more, eyes stuck on yours as she comprehended more than just your words. You chose to ignore that, but even you knew...you were still hopelessly head over heels for the woman sitting beside you. And you didn’t mind one bit.

Summary for Code:04 is here!
Please notice that this is just a summary so not every single detail is included!
Stormbringer Summary 5
Code 04: Grantors of disgrace, you need not wake me again
Recap: N and Verlaine escaped from the laboratory.
The chapter begins with an excerpt of Rimbaud's diary. He wrote that there was once an anti-government movement 'May Revolution', and the leaders were called 'The Fauns'. They created a secret weapon which was named 'No.12 of Darkness' that can control gravity freely. Once Rimbaud acquired this weapon, he was ordered to educate him and trained this weapon to become a spy, and its name was Paul Verlaine.
-  Unbelievable. The Secret of the Gentle Forest was decoded. Here it lies the most fierce beast, and Verlaine...
Rimbaud wrote in his diary.
-
Verlaine and N were at the top of a tower crane. Verlaine had N here because he wanted to know why N knew the Secret. However, N claimed that the last 6 pages of the Secret was erased by Rimbaud himself so he couldn't tell much. Verlaine couldn't believe that's actually Rimbaud who altered the information.
He was strong, Verlaine referred to Rimbaud. He is the only one who was capable of battling with Verlaine in his organisation, and they were partners. Not only this, Rimbaud also called Verlaine his friend, but Verlaine just felt like he couldn't like Rimbaud.
Verlaine left N on the tower crane alone and left.
-
It was a night with a clear sky, a train was moving on the railway and Mori was sleeping inside. At once, a human showed up on the railway, and stopped the train. The train was derailed as a result of mass shock.  Verlaine went inside the train and searched for something, and he believed no one inside the train was able to survive after the shock.
Verlaine found the body of Mori, and he approached to confirm the breath. But that wasn't Mori. It was a man who wore the outfit of his, but was not Mori himself. Turns out it was Mori's double, Hirotsu. A tiny person also appeared afterwards, and that's Dazai.
Suddenly, there was light in the dark, and that was flame. By the mountain near the railway, there were 50 and more sniper bullets aimed and shotted Verlaine, and the target was in utter pain.
'Don't think these little rocks could kill me...' Verlaine was trying to use the woods beside him to attack the snipers who were hiding in the mountain, but he stopped
'Hoho- You really look like my subordinate when I take a closer look' said an elegant lady, Kouyou. She summoned Golden Demon and launched offense towards Verlaine.
'You can't beat me alone,' Verlaine said.
'Who said I am alone?' Verlaine then felt his whole body sinking down to the ground, and turned into multiple snakes that were about to swallow him. That was the Lieutenant's ability (reference to Dead Apple manga, former Port Mafia executive), that could manipulate the state of objects.
'Ability organisations are stronger than ability users,' Dazai observed and smiled. Various ability users from the Port Mafia were launching all kinds of attacks towards him, such as the ability of slowing the time and freezing. In fact, Dazai sent 420 Mafia members which included 28 ability users to the scene to defeat Verlaine.
'I will mourn you,' Dazai said to Verlaine, and took out Rimbaud's diary from his pocket.
The next moment, a black wave inflated and spreaded to the whole field.
'-- You hatreds, your dumb torpors, your weaknessses,
And your brutalisation suffered long ago,
You give back, O Night, like an excess,
Un-malevolent, of blood, each month or so, (extract from The Sisters of Charity, by Arthur Rimbaud)' Verlaine said the spell.
The wind calmed, the buzz on the ground vanished as if escaping from something. The invisible waves were flooded in the atmosphere.
'The door was opened,' Dazai observed. A black object appeared far far away in the forest. Right after, where Verlaine were, ejected a form of dark energy. The car that was hit by this energy was completely deformed with half of it vanished and the remains were just like a wrapped paper.
On the mountain, there was a monster who controlled a dark sphere. When people touched the sphere, they died.
No.3 Forces, annihilated; No.5 forces, all dead, No.8 forces, no response, as reported from Dazai's walkie talkie. The mountained was eliminated, and the ground was distorted. All the mafia members were screaming and suffering.
'It's all in the plan, we will win if the next attack succeeds,' said Dazai.
-
Up in the sky of Yokohama, Chuuya and Adam were inside a helicopter and they jumped off from it due to the attack from the monster. Adam was able to fly in the sky because his body allowed him to transform himself into a flying machine.
Similar to Chuuya, Verlaine was also intolerant to poison despite having ample physical strength, so actually it was their plan to approach Verlaine closely, so that they can inject poison into Verlaine's body. It was notable that Adam mixed this poison pill.
It was very difficult to get closer to Verlaine because he had activated his corruption, which he lost his consciousness and attacked the surroundings without rationality.
Nonetheless, Chuuya did put a toxic pill into Verlaine's mouth, which he has his conscious back. Yet Verlaine splitted out the pills right after.
'You always surprise me, Chuuya,' Verlaine spoke. He told Chuuya that once he said the spell, he would have his human personality unlocked and become a mad beast that generated ability singularity. However, that is Rimbaud who thought about adding a spell on Verlaine, which enabled him to get back to a rational form after using his corruption.
'He always thinks about what he could do for me,' said Verlaine.
'But you betrayed him,' Chuuya replied
'Because I wanted to save you,' Verlaine answered.
Suddenly, a finger touched Verlaine's face.
'What an unexpected offense. I bet no one could foresee this. What a joke,' said Chuuya
Verlaine turned back, and realised that was Adam's finger.
'Do you wanna hear an android joke?' Adam's finger was installed with a tiny syringe, and this enabled poison to be injected into Verlaine's body.
'Seems like a child's trick can defeat the king of assassins. Thanks for listening to my android joke.'

It returns to another section of Rimbaud's diary. Rimbaud was thinking about what presents he should give to Verlaine on his birthday. He came up to a conclusion: a black hat. That was not an ordinary hat. The materials used inside the hat consists of 10% platinum, 10% titanium and the rest were made with rainbow-coloured ability metal which was installed with the ability of the Fauns inside. By wearing this hat, it enabled Verlaine to act on his own will and less interfered by external instructions and interruption. In other words, Verlaine was a step closer to a man with free will by having this hat.
Rimbaud gave the hat to Verlaine on his birthday, and he did not look surprised or happy either way.
'Just take it,' Rimbaud told Verlaine, and there was no response. They drank some wine that night and said goodnight to each other.
-
The battle was so called ended, but the field was left with gravity waves and the forest was completely destroyed. Verlained passed out, but still alive. Dazai told Adam and Chuuya that N was rescued from the tower crane, but disappeared during transportation.
-
'I can't die here...' said N. The car that he was taking bumped into a utility pole because he injected some form of medicine to the driver. He took out an old style flare gun and shooted.
'Is this some mistake made by the offense team?' Chuuya noticed the shot far away.
'Shit...' Dazai's eyes were in despair.
The shot that shooted from N's flare gun was exploded with colourful metal pieces floating in the air like snow, and even accompanied with some music. Verlaine suddenly yelled painfully. His eyes were filled with blood and the blood stream was clear on his face and grabbed his chest hardly.
'That was not the effect of my pill!' Adam shouted, 'The gravitational field was unusual here!'
The space was deformed, and Verlaine was flooded inside his own gravity wave.
'The world ends here...' Verlained whispered just like an old man who's dying 'Run, Chuuya.' Verlaine smiled sorrowfully.
The sky was divided, the thunder was coming and the atmosphere was expanding. N saw the ability form of Verlaine. It was a black beast, the opposite of god, and original demon -- Guivre the Beast. The monster annihilated all the aircrafts incoming and was about to proceed to the city center.
'See that Verlaine! That's your end!' N laughed, almost screamed. 'An unique being like you will die because of such a boring creature like me! HAHAHAHA DIE VERLAINE!'
-
Here comes a flashback during the night of Rimbaud and Verlaine's mission of stealing Arahabaki.
'Don't give this kid to the French,' Verlaine was holding the young Chuuya on his arm.
'What?' Rimbaud was confused.
'Don't hand him over to anyone, and don't let him go back to the lab. Grow this kid in a farm and just never let him know about his truth.'
'What are you talking about?' Rimbaud asked once again.
'Think about it Rimbaud,' Verlaine's voice was tense and hostile at the same time, 'If someone tells you you're not a human, how impactful it will be. You are not born with god's blessing but just a programme, how hurtful it is. You cannot see the moon and live in darkness forever without any hope, and no one will come save you. Even such a feeling of despair is designed by someone else!'
'We have this conversation countless times, Paul,' Rimbaud stepped forward, 'You are a human, everyone sees that. Instead of thinking how you were made, isn't it better to think what you should be as a being?'
'Paul...' 'Don't get close.'
'I am sorry. Anyways, should we go back and have a chat?' Rimbaud stepped forward again.
'No, it's too late.'
A huge fight between the spies broke out.
-
Adam had an idea to stop the destruction of Guivre. Almost at the end of the Great War, Britain had developed something that was currently the energy source of Adam's machines. However, the initial usage of Adam's energy source was a mass destruction weapon. Adam smiled and continued. If they used Adam's weapon inside him, they could burn and melt the Guivre.
So they put this in practise. Adam asked Chuuya to tie Adam's own arm to an electric cable. However, Adam pushed Chuuya away when he was about to trigger the weapon. He explained to Chuuya that the weapon inside him was called the Shell (55 minutes reference). It can burn down the surroundings of 22 yard radius, and the internal temperature could reach 6000 degree celsius, and that is almost the temperature of the sun surface. This was sufficient to destroy the Guivre.
'Don't do this!' Chuuya cried
'Don't you have your dream! To build an investigation organisation purely ran by machines right!'
Adam silenced for two seconds.
'My dream is to protect humans,' Adam replied, 'and my dream comes true now.'
'Wait!'
A gigantic fireball. It burned the woods, and boiled the land, and altogether evaporated. The Guivre moaned miserably and decomposed in the air. Adam sacrificed himself and the monster was destroyed.
However, the tail of the beast in front of Chuuya and Dazai was forming into something. That piece of tail suddenly grew a face out of it, something like a reptile. It then turned into a huge form of creature. Its head was pretty much the head of the former Guivre, but the number of eyes were different, and it had red eyes.
'Don't look at it, Chuuya,' Dazai warned, 'He was sensitive to emotion, so don't let him see you.'
'I know how to defeat this ability singularity,' said Chuuya, 'I recalled from my memory.'
'Let's brief me that,' Dazai smiled.
-
They figured out how to open Chuuya's door. In order to activate Chuuya's corruption, he needs to say the spell 'Grantors of disgrace, you need not wake me again'. Together with the hat gifted by Rimbaud, Chuuya could control the door with his own consciousness. However, there's a problem. Once Chuuya said the spell, the log inside his programme will altogether be erased, which means Chuuya could no longer find out whether he was human or not via the programme.
Chuuya was flying in the sky. He grabbed his hat tightly and recalled his friend's word
-- I am satisfied that I can protect you.
And he said 'Grantors of disgrace, you need not wake me again.'
Tumblr media
The battle between the gigantic beast and a tiny Arakami (God of Arahabaki) began. Dazai was directing the forces to launch offense towards the beast. Meanwhile Chuuya's physical body could no longer tolerate the power inside his body. He was bleeding severely. Finally, Chuuya created an enormous fireball that was as if the second sun in the night. Finally, the beast disappeared and Dazai nullified corruption.

Title: Anger Is A Gift
Author: Mark Oshiro
Genre: Fiction | Thriller | Drama | Friendship | LGBTQ+
Content Warnings: Racism | Major Character Death | Police Brutality
Overall Rating: 10/10
Personal Opinion: Adam Silvera said it best, this is “a beautiful and brutal debut.” It is a powerful look into the institutional racism of the police force and the constant battle between black & brown people and the police. Morris Jeffries Jr., better known as Moss, has lost people he loved. People he cared about to police brutality. And he is angry about it. He wants to use that anger to fight back in the only way he knows how. Protest. Follow this incredible, brave young man as he fights with everything he’s got.
Do I Own This Book? Not yet but maybe one day.
Spoilers Below For My Likes & Dislikes:
Likes:
- This book is so real. It’s not a great option for those that use fiction as an escape but it is so raw and authentic and it hits all the major points like a freight train. The inherent institutional racism among cops is just so awful. How they brutalize and abuse brown and black people and even kids! It was chilling and tense and had me on the edge of my seat because I just wanted a happy ending whilst knowing that that can’t happen in this book because it’s real life. People of African descent, Latinx, South Asian, and also middle easterners have a long history of suffering because of police brutality and it is awful. Lives are constantly lost. And yet, they never do anything. It’s always justified somehow in the media and they never take responsibility. They always try to spin it in a way to imply that the victim deserved it. Often bringing up citizenship status or prior conviction record or, I don’t know, “uncooperative behavior.” Moss’s dad didn’t hear the cops! He had on his headphones! But they shot him anyway with the justification that he should’ve raised his hands if he was innocent but he didn’t know! And the gall of those privileged fucks going up to a TEN YEAR OLD KID to tell him that his dad deserved to die makes me sick. It’s real and it’s wrong and the fact that this book was written before the George Floyd protests is honestly insane to me. This is a necessary book. Because I don’t doubt that there are a lot of people like Esperanza who do not understand. Who see the world as simply black and white. That justice prevails in the end. Because the truth is, I have seen a lot of people say that people deserved getting shot at. Deserved tear gas and rubber bullets and riot gear. It is awful. And the fact that it took the death of a white girl to enact change is too real. And to make it worse, it was Hayley who paid the price. She was sexually assaulted and the god forsaken police took the side of the perpetrator. She never got her justice. And she stood with Moss to protest. For Javier. She didn’t deserve to die. To be a martyr. Sharelle, Morris Jeffries Sr, Javier Perez, and Hayley Simpson should not have had to die for something to be done.
- Moss has so many amazing friends. Rawiya, Kaisha, Reg, Bits, Njemile, even Esperanza in the beginning. In that first chapter, she was always there for Moss. When he was going through his panic attack, she stayed by his side and got him through it. She knew when he didn’t want to talk and knew when he did. But because she was adopted by white parents in a rich home, she didn’t really know what he went through. She never experienced all the fear directly, just by proximity. She took her life for granted and even said she wished she went to their school, not even knowing just how terrifying and dystopian it was. The worst of it was that it’s not dystopian. It is just our present-day reality. The rest of Moss’s friends are so good though. They have a lot of empathy and they tease him so lovingly. They, along with Shamika, Martin, Dawit, and everyone else in his large community are his family and I adore that. And I loved that he decided to take Eugenia into his family even though Javier was gone. No. Especially due to the fact that he was gone. She lost her only family. So he wanted to be there for her.
- Every character played such an integral role in telling this incredibly moving story. We’ve got Kaisha. This brilliant young woman who knows the entire online world like the back of her hand. Reg, who is disabled due to a car crash but he tries to be positive all the time. And the stupid magnet inside of the metal detector obliterated his hopes of walking again. Bits is a person of few words but they are the shoulder to cry on and they are loyal and kind. Even though they used to be in a gang. Njemile and Shawna are trans women. The former with two moms. And they just both radiate so much beauty along with their sass. Rawiya is punk rock and a Muslim and she is just a badass. And then there’s Javier’s friend Carlos. A small artist who made a mural of his best friend after he passed. An immortalized memorial of an incredibly loving soul. He was taken from the world too soon and he could’ve loved Moss. It hurts that Moss may never know.
- The moments of Moss’s grief and anxiety were relatable and tough to read. But also really necessary. When Javier had been shot, Moss had several moments where he thought he would appear. Alive. Waiting. He would leave his home and kiss Moss. When my grandpa passed, there were moments where I would stand at the top of the staircase, about to go to my bedroom, and I would think about the fact that he would be there. He would be in his room and he would wake up to use the bathroom and he’d ask me if I’d like some milk while I was on my laptop. But he was gone from my life. It’s honestly just so heart-wrenching. And this is a novel. It’s not even real. But I bet there are a lot of people who have experienced it.
- I get why this book wasn’t tagged with “romance.” Since Javier died halfway into the story. But he was there. He made an impact. Because the dates he went on with Moss, even if they were short and even mildly awkward, were so cute. They understood each other on an almost anatomic level. Even though they had met on the BART briefly, they had this real connection that they wanted to explore. They bared their souls even though they knew each other for only a week. They talked about the real shit going on in their lives and wanted to be as open as possible. It’s the kind of short-lived, fast-burning love that I want for myself. And Moss with all the items he had left of his first love, it honestly hurt. The comic, the bicycle chain, his backpack, the memories that they had. I want what they had but without the tragedy.
- Moss’s protest was brave and powerful and emotional and I respect the hell out of this amazing young man. Even if he’s fictional. I respect every single person out there fighting and I want to be the best possible ally for them.
Dislikes:
- This was in the positive section but it deserves to be here too. It’s too real. I often like reading for escapism. Living vicariously in the minds of others. So this was scary. It’s like a realistic horror novel. I enjoyed the ride but it just hurts. I’m still processing it. But the fact that Hull and Daley both reacted so horribly and violently is just so wrong. How can they just escalate things like that? If Hull had just let Shawna explain then she wouldn’t have had to be hurt. If that one white cop hadn’t forced Bits through the magnetic metal detector, the pins wouldn’t have shot out of his leg. If Daley hadn’t drawn his fucking gun on a bunch of high schoolers for “not respecting him” (a dude that is literally spraying them all with a sort of acid), then Javier would still be alive. But the police just continued on with their terrible behavior. Trying to resolve the issue of police brutality with even more brutality. They didn’t take any responsibility. They didn’t even apologize until after a white woman was killed. It makes me nauseous but it’s real. And it just sucks so much. I just kept on wishing for some deity to come down from the heavens to stop it all. But that won’t happen. But the ending still gave me chills. Moss only spoke to one reporter after the incident. Sophia Morales of NBC. A Latina woman.
“What do you think the Oakland Police Department should do next?”
No answer was sufficient enough because nothing they did “next” could ever bring back Javier or any other victim. So Moss’s only response was: “Stop killing us.” And I got chills. What an ending.
- Fuck Jacobs (performative ass bitch), Esperanza’s parents (ignorant whites), and those two idiots (just idiots) at the first rally. That is all I’ll say about them.

Nitpick #10:
Alrighty, now that I’ve nit picked Raven’s semblance, it’s only fair I nitpick Adam’s now! Adam’s semblance has been present ever since the Black Trailer, but the longer his presence in the show became, the more diluted and utterly useless his semblance was. It was powerful in the Poser days, able to slice through Yang’s aura like it was nothing and able to destroy a huge robotic guardian on the dust train with one blow, but after that point? Well, we only see it in his fight with Blake and Yang. And it’s… underwhelming.
Adam used his semblance on two occasions prior to this fight (if I’m remembering right). Once in the Black trailer, and once during the fall of Beacon. For the first use, he absorbed one heavy attack by the spider robot before decimating it as well as multiple boxes in the vicinity, and for the second use, he absorbed three shots from Gambol Shroud. And then there’s this bullshit:
Tumblr media
Unlike the last encounter, Adam’s attack somehow doesn’t do jack against Yang beyond scuff up her arm a bit. This tells us two things: 1) The damage he absorbed was enough to negate Yang’s aura and damage her prosthetic and 2) it was not enough to damage the prosthetic beyond cosmetic damage. From Adam’s second time using his semblance, we know that only three shots from Gambol Shroud is enough to negate a fully aura’ed Yang, and considering ranged weapons are useless in RWBY since most do literally no damage, that’s pretty impressive. We also know that Adam has the ability to slice through metal with enough damage absorption. It’s easy to say, “well he just didn’t absorb enough,” but if you think about the spider robot’s attack, one of its heavy pulse attacks actually hit Adam and Blake. Adam couldn’t draw his sword in time to protect them from the blast, but the blast wasn’t enough to break their auras. And yet he used one of those blasts to fully bisect the robot. Also, the spider robot is significantly thicker than Yang’s prosthetic arm, so there’s a lot more for Adam to cut through. So… really, Yang would’ve just gotten herself sliced up again with this move if Adam’s semblance wasn’t nerfed.
Since ranged weapons aren’t as effective, Yang’s punches would give out more power. Yang delivered a flurry of punches directly onto Adam’s sword that fueled his semblance. Every time he sustained a decent amount of punches from Yang, he let off Moonslice, which Yang tanked every damn time. Unless one punch from Yang with a shot from Ember Celica is somehow less powerful than a bullet from Gambol Shroud (which is not possible, since a shotgun is more powerful than a pistol and Yang is the tank of the team), Yang fed plenty of damage into Adam’s sword to give him enough power to kill her with one semblance powered attack. Even if it wasn’t powerful enough (which I think is impossible considering the difference in damage absorbed), Yang was hit multiple times with moonslice, which in turn lowers her aura, and since Adam’s first time using his semblance on Yang cut through her full aura entirely, Yang’s survivability drops with each use of moonslice. So basically, if they wanted it to be a bit more believable, maybe Yang should learn how to dodge rather than just sit there and let moonslice hit her like five different times in the course of this fight.
Also why does Adam have clones now? What is the point of them? Why have we never seen this clone thing before this point??
