Synopsis: The very first time you meet Eddie the Freak Munson, it’s because you found his bracelet on the floor and decided to wear it, and he claims to have lost one just like that.
The second time you meet, he is absolutely flabbergasted because you are the only one outside of Hellfire who wants him to sign their yearbook.
The third time you meet, he’s feeding you drugs through a sloppy kiss before making you see stars.
The fourth time you meet, he is all but taken aback that you greet him with a boyfriend-and-girlfriend-kiss in plain sight of some other former Hawkins High students, thinking that you, just like all the other girls, would want nothing to do with him after one hot and high night together…

A/N: Just a couple of ideas that had been ghosting around in my head on digital paper. Enjoy!
Words: 4880 Warnings: drug use, alcohol, smut, RC has parents in this one, drunk driving
A/N: Both Eddie and RC are over the age of 21 in my stories.

The first time you met Eddie Munson, it was in the school cafeteria. You were new in town, damned to finish your high school years at a later age due to unforeseen circumstances in your past. Let’s just say it involved the military, an illegal weapon deal, you and your family being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and a witness protection programme. Not exactly the funniest years of your life but here you were now, significantly older than all the other students trying to keep up with everything you had missed when one fateful day, you found a leather chain bracelet on the floor in the hallway near the boys’ bathrooms.
You figured it looked cool, so, instead of throwing it away, you decided to wear it. Little did you know it belonged to Eddie The Freak Munson himself who, as it turned out, was absolutely gutted he’d lost it. He ended up in line to get his lunch right behind you that day and of course, he instantly noticed the edgy accessory on you when you reached for a cup of chocolate pudding.
“Cool bracelet.”
You’d be lying if you said that the other students hadn’t “warned” you about him. But being old enough to legally buy alcohol, you were long past the silly idea of popularity in high school, knowing that once you were out of that building for good, no one—literally no one—cared anymore. Respectively, you turned around to smile at him.
“Thank you.”
“I had one like that too. Lost it recently,” he added a little distraught, underlining his words by throwing a single peanut in his mouth. Your eyes widened.
“Oh my god, what? I found that on the floor in the hallway the other day! It must be yours!”
And just like that, Eddie blinked and then frowned at you as if you’d just sliced the tyres of his van. “Why are you wearing it?” he asked—carefully, if not suspiciously.
“I just thought it looked cool. Here, take it back,” you announced, unclasping it from your wrist to hand it to him. “I’m glad it seems you didn’t lose it after all.”
“Yeah, uh… it was a gift from my uncle, so… it means a lot to me.”
You could have imagined it but you were pretty sure that you received something like an electrical shock when your hands touched.
“That’s sweet. Good thing I didn’t throw it away. Well, enjoy the rest of your day, Eddie. I’ll see you around.”
“Yeah. I’ll see you around too.”
And that you did. Every day. You did have a few classes together, after all, and sooner or later you realised that you kept stealing glances at him. He was fucking handsome—a classic metalhead with an affinity for fantasy novels and Dungeons & Dragons, so you soon found out, and of course, a renowned bad boy selling drugs right under the noses of all the teachers which, strangely enough… did not hinder him from finally graduating that year. It turned out that 1987 was his year and to call what he pulled off at the graduation ceremony a show would have been an understatement and you certainly couldn’t stop clapping and cheering along with his friends when he did flip the principal the bird and acted like he’d just won the gold medal instead of his diploma. That man was a chaotic rockstar in the making, you just knew it. In fact, you were more excited for him than you were for yourself even though you had barely spoken after the bracelet exchange.
Unfortunately, apart from his beloved Hellfire club as well as two freshmen called Dustin and Mike, everyone else in the school just seemed to be happy to finally be rid of him—Miss O’Donnells the most, you figured.
So when it was time to get those last few signatures in for your yearbooks and students rushed from person to person with markers in hand, Eddie was left out entirely.
You guessed that this was why nothing prepared him for the very moment you approached him and two of his friends—Jeff and Gareth, you believed—and held your yearbook out to him.
“Hey, Eddie. Care to sign my yearbook for me?”
It took him a second to process your words, you could tell. “Me? You want me to sign your yearbook?”
“Of course.” And you meant it, if anything to have an excuse to speak to him again.
Eddie took your yearbook from you with slight hesitation, flipped the front page open and then, using the red ballpoint pen he must have been using for his friends’ yearbooks, scribbled something in yours.
You couldn’t wait to read what he’d written when he handed it back to you. Another moment of silence followed.
“Do you… want me to sign yours as well?”
“Uh… yeah… if you want.” Jeff and Gareth were a lot more suspicious than Eddie was, perhaps thinking you’d write something nasty in his. In fact, he didn’t even pay attention to what you were writing in it. Instead, and you could practically feel his curious brown gaze on you, he wouldn’t stop staring like you were some sort of hallucination.
The truth was, he probably didn’t quite know what to make of you. You’d never been part of a specific clique ever since your arrival and hence socialised with whoever circumstances put you in close proximity with. They’d all seen you with Jason and the others a few times—and given how the basketball team treated Hellfire, it was not short of a miracle they all radiated a pinch of hostility toward you.
Eddie almost flinched when you shut his yearbook shut and gave it back to him. “Thanks.”
“Thanks to you as well. After your stunt on stage, I have no doubt that you’re gonna be the next Ozzy Osbourne. I wish you and your band all the best, I’m sure you’ll rock it.”
Jeff and Gareth blinked. Incredulously so. Eddie on the other hand gave you a sheepish grin. “Thanks,” he said again.
You figured there was nothing else going to come out of his mouth—and you hoped that your phone number that you had scribbled into his yearbook and which he still hadn’t noticed yet was going to give him a broad hint.
That’s why your heart almost leaped out of your chest when you suddenly heard him calling after you. “We were going to, uh… celebrate together just outside of the town centre tonight. You know… snacks, dru- I mean drinks, music… care to come?”
It was only when you turned back around that you noticed Jeff and Gareth looking downright shocked at Eddie’s invitation. The head of the Hellfire Club appeared genuine though. And with those sweet puppy eyes, how could you turn him down? You simply could not, even if you had wanted to.
“Oh, I always fancy some snacks and dru- I mean drinks.” You grinned at him. “Should I bring anything?”
“If you want. Don’t have to though. Do you have a car or… should I come pick you up?”
“If it’s not too much trouble? Here, let me give you my address.” Using your pen from before, you snatched one of the napkins from one of the tables (almost wiping an empty champagne glass from the surface in the process) to scribble your address on it.
Tumblr media
You decided to make brownies for the occasion. They were spiced with rum to add a little bit of flavour and dressed in your edgiest outfit before Eddie came to pick you up. To say you were excited was an understatement, for despite being generally friendly with everyone, you hadn’t exactly made a ton of friends in Hawkins yet.
Funnily enough, however, you were not even in the least surprised that Eddie drove straight to the infamous Reefer Rick house near Lover’s Lake. The entirety of the Hellfire Club, excluding the two freshmen, were there, along with a couple of other friends of Rick’s you didn’t know. It wasn’t a proper party per se—although they did have music but given Eddie’s taste and looks, it was metal blasting through the speakers for the most part.
“You’re insane, Munson. Who is she again?” Rick hissed into Eddie’s hair, grabbing his upper arm as you walked past and you took in the dimly lit boathouse. The atmosphere here was great. Foldable tables held a large selection of snacks, with two massive pizzas from Surfer Boy’s Pizza taking up the majority of the space. Another table was filled to the brim with so much alcohol you feared it would all topple over if someone attempted to remove one of the glass bottles. The fishing boat swaying in the water unsurprisingly took up most of the space in the boat house. Only for the occasion it had been repurposed to a cosy-looking lounging area and covered entirely with several layers of blankets and pillows.
The most prominent feature of this small get-together, however, was the smell of weed—and you were certain that those rolled little cigarettes were the most harmless drug Rick had on offer tonight.
“You’re telling me you invited the girl who found your bracelet a few months ago to a party at my house? What if she calls the cops on us?”
“I don’t think she will.”
“I brought brownies,” you offered, holding them out to him with a smile. Both Rick and Eddie blushed when they realised you had been able to follow their conversation over the loud guitar riffs.
“Oh. Thanks. Welcome to the party then.” And that was that. You set the homemade dessert on the table and had Eddie pour you your first drink of the evening.
Tumblr media
“You know, it took me a hot minute to figure out you’ve written your phone number in my yearbook,” Eddie admitted after a few drinks and some casual chatting.
“Oh.” You chuckled, following up with a wink. “Well, I figured I’d take my shot.” Eddie had skipped prom, of course, not buying into the whole idea of wearing a suit and awkwardly asking someone out only to dance to shitty music and drink non-alcoholic punch in the school’s stinky sports hall.
It was a shame really—you would have loved to have seen him in a suit. Besides, you figured that the real reason Eddie hadn’t been to prom was because he’d been unhopeful any girl would have wanted to show up there with the town freak who was regularly accused of satanic rituals.
Well, you would have. But you ended up going with your classmates from chemistry class who had all sworn they didn’t need a man to have a good time. Which was also true.
“Hey, can I ask you something?”
Eddie raised his eyebrows slightly, offering you a sweet smile.
“Why did you invite me? We’ve barely spoken all year and Rick is not wrong.”
“Listen, sweetheart… no one—and I mean no one outside of Hellfire has ever asked me to sign their yearbook for them. It might not sound like a big deal to you but you decided to come over to me despite what everyone else must have told you about me.” Sweetheart. Now that was a reason for your heart to skip a beat. The rising alcohol level in your body did the rest, of course, but you were far from drunk yet.
As of right now, Eddie’s hair was even messier than usual from headbanging to the latest Metallica hit that had come on after Rick had yelled “To our new graduates, Jeff, Gareth and Eddie!”. He was still a little out of breath. You were resting on the boat now, watching him giggle at a filthy joke Rick had just pulled and it was then you decided there and then that tonight was going to be the night. All good things started with a kiss, right?
Eddie must have noticed you staring at his lips. He took another draw from the cigarette he was smoking and then held it out to you with a mischievous grin on his face. “Want a draw?”
“Sure. Bring it on.”
Before you could close your mouth around it though, Eddie pulled away again, making you crawl closer to him in a confused manner. “Wait a second. You’ve… smoked before, right?”
“Duh,” you gave back. “Yes, I have. Never done anything stronger than weed though.”
“Okay, sweetheart. Just making sure you don’t throw up all over the boat.” Eddie didn’t hand the cigarette over. Instead, he brought it to your lips with his fingers, watching intently as you took a draw. The taste was just as awful as you remembered but it got the job done quickly. You relaxed, feeling more daring after only minutes.
“Hey, Eddie?” You stared at him matter-of-factly. It clearly confused him. You took another draw when he offered the weed to you yet again but this time inching even closer to him. His lips parted when you didn’t move away from him. “Can I kiss you?”
The metalhead grinned like a kid that got caught with their hand in the cookie jar. He didn’t respond. Instead, he lifted his ringed hand to your face to stroke your cheek and then, his mouth was on yours. Eddie kissed you softly and patiently, seemingly enjoying this first taste as much as you did. After you parted, you both smiled and as the night proceeded, you couldn’t keep your hands off of each other anymore.
Tumblr media
Eddie insisted on taking you to his place instead of staying at Rick’s, and after some initial protest that he too had had alcohol and shouldn’t be behind the wheel, you agreed to slowly drive back to his place. Fortunately for the both of you, you both made it out of this risky mission alive and you soon plopped yourself down on Eddie’s bed.
His room was a complete and utter mess. Clothes and cassettes along with handwritten song lyrics on crumbled paper were scattered everywhere, along with the odd guitar pick and lone sock. The walls were plastered with posters of metal bands as well as some maps and other drawings he must have made for his D&D campaigns.
His uncle wasn’t home—Eddie claimed he was pulling night shifts and that you had the house all to yourself. Which was certainly a good thing. You weren’t exactly quiet in bed and you had no doubt that you’d make use of those condoms sitting on his nightstand tonight.
Eddie grinned, turning his back to you for a moment. Then, he got rid of his battle jacket and leather jacket almost at the same time, kicked off his shoes and joined you on the bed wearing only his ripped trousers and a washed-out band shirt.
He was quick to take the initiative now that you had made the first step. Eddie leaned down, his hair tickling your face, and lowered his lips to yours to kiss you again, without any unwanted eyes watching you both this time.
He tasted like the weed you’d been smoking and the fatty pizza you’d all been munching on. His kisses were consuming, you had learned this much quickly. You sighed when his tongue slipped between your lips, teasing yours gently all the while his right hand went on an exploration quest, repeatedly stroking over your side.
Joyful anticipation of what would happen next flooded you like a hurricane, your body all of a sudden annoyingly aware of the fact there were way too many layers separating you both still.
It was then you felt the small pill on Eddie’s tongue that he passed on to you, gently biting your lower lip before breaking the kiss. You closed your mouth with wide eyes, returning his eager grin as he hovered above you.
“It’s ketamine,” he said, still grinning, “Rick got a new batch, fancy pill form. Nothing like anything else you’ll ever experience.”
You swallowed it down. “Shit. How long does it take to kick in?”
“With how strong that dose is I’d say about fifteen minutes. Thought you’d better have your first trip safely without accidentally drowning in the boat house at Rick’s.”
You hummed.
But what was the point of waiting around for it to kick in? You wanted Eddie. Now, and regardless of the drugs. Biting your lower lip, you pulled him back down to you and crashed your lips against his, kissing him ferociously.
“You’re wearing too much,” you announced out of breath when you had to pull away for oxygen.
“I could say the same thing about you, sweetheart.”
“Hmm… we should do something about that, then.”
You both giggled like children. Eddie scrambled out of bed to get rid of his clothes, only leaving his plaid boxers on all the while you peeled yourself out of your shirt and your trousers.
“Do you know how to take off a bra?” you asked with a cheeky grin.
“You wound me, sweetheart.”
“C’me here and prove it then.”
He was on top of you again before you could blink, hands wandering behind your back as you arched it for him so he could take it off for you. He did in fact have no trouble whatsoever getting that last piece of clothing between your naked skin out of the way. When he tossed it out of bed, it landed straight on the neck of his acoustic guitar in the corner. Eddie chuckled but he soon gasped for air quietly when his brown eyes fell on your bare breasts, nipples hardening from both the sudden temperature change and your growing arousal—and perhaps the drugs, too. You could feel them kicking in now. It was like you were walking on clouds. Like everything you did was wrapped in cotton candy and each and every one of your senses was heightened.
Eddie seemed to feel the same way even though surely this wasn’t his first time on ketamine. In a haze, he cupped your breasts with his hands, kneading them gently all the while you tugged at the hem of his boxers, not failing to notice the growing bulge in them. Eddie’s erection sprung free when you pulled them down as far as you could in your current position, taking in his length. Damn. You didn’t have a lot of dicks to compare him to but you certainly liked what you saw.
Reluctantly, the metalhead let go of your breasts to reach for a condom. You moaned at the loss of them at the very same moment you started feeling like you were floating. Shit.
“I am craving ice cream right now.”
“You are?”
“Yes! I could eat three. No, six! You know what? Let’s go and have ice cream tomorrow!”
“At the mall?”
“At the mall!” you repeated, almost yelling the words. You blinked. Fuck. You were so high. Eddie grinned when he realised. You wriggled out of your knickers and tossed them out of bed with your foot. Utterly naked before him now, you watched him with your lower lip sucked between your teeth as he rolled the thin layer of latex onto his length and then positioned himself between your legs. You spread them even further for him, inviting him in.
“We can always stop, you know that, right?”
“Eddie…” You pulled him down to you, shutting him up with a sloppy kiss. The drug was really kicking in now and making out with him was like a whole new experience altogether. You couldn’t wait to feel him inside you. You needed him. Now.
You doubted he was still a virgin when he guided his member into you with skilled movements, slowly pushing in inch by inch without finishing instantly. You wouldn’t have minded to take a break and then try again but right now, the ketamine in your body was making you impatient for lust. Impatient for him.
“Move, Eddie, move…” you whispered, throwing your head back in the process. The metalhead obeyed. Slowly at first, he began to thrust up into you, each and every single movement eager and on the verge of madness.
You were an entanglement of sweaty limbs within a matter of minutes. Panting and kissing, you didn’t know where Eddie ended and where you started. You moved together rhythmically, your legs wrapped around his hips as he kept rutting into you.
It was the very first time you felt your arousal climbing higher and higher, that familiar knot of pleasure in your core tightening without any additional stimulation whatsoever. Surely, that was because of the drugs. It must have been because of the drugs. Eddie hit every single pleasure spot hidden deep inside of you but normally, even that was not enough for you to slip over the edge. Not so today. You could already feel your orgasm approaching, your toes curling and your cunt tightening around him.
Eddie groaned. “You going to cum, sweetheart?”
The sound that escaped your lips didn’t even remotely resemble a yes. So you nodded with your lower lip between your teeth, eyes rolling to the back of your head. You shattered underneath him like a piece of glass, breaking into a million pieces scattering across his room.
Moaning his name, you dug your nails into his naked back and pulled him even closer to you. Eddie didn’t stop. On the contrary, he sped up. His strokes were erratic now, uncontrolled. Eager for his own orgasm, as you pulsed around him times and times again, you felt him tense up and then, find his release.
After a few more thrusts he stilled, burying himself as deep inside of you as he possibly could and shot his load into the condom. You wished you could have felt it, wished you could have felt him coating your still lazily contracting walls instead. Next time. There was always next time.
And fuck… that was quite possibly the best sex you’d ever had.
Tumblr media
When you woke up the next morning, memories of last night came flooding back to you like a tsunami. Your head rested on Eddie’s chest. He’d draped his blanket over the both of you after he’d gotten rid of the condom—or simply threw it on the floor to be precise—and then cuddled up with you to keep you warm, to keep you safe while this trip lasted. You were almost a little disappointed you had sobered up now but the aftermath lingered like the taste of a particularly sweet strawberry on your tongue.
You opened your eyes, inhaling Eddie’s scent. Cigarettes, alcohol, leather and a little bit of sweat… it made for an oddly attractive mix. Unfortunately, however, your blood ran cold as soon as you spotted the time on the watch on Eddie’s wrist.
“Eddie! Wake up! Eddie, come on!”
He grumbled—and you wanted to kiss him senseless for being so cute and sleepy—but your parents must have been worried sick by now. Besides, you felt a little nauseous. Certainly the after-effects of the ketamine. You were lucky you weren’t hugging the toilet at the moment.
“What? You okay, sweetheart?”
“I’m okay but I need to get home.”
“Huh?” Finally, he cracked an eye open. Another moment passed for him to take the time to wake up. You chuckled.
“I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus. Ugh, and I feel gross.” You needed a shower—and a change of clothes. “I need to get home and freshen up, and my parents are probably wondering where I am. Let’s meet at Starcourt? Around three?”
You wanted nothing more than to lazily wander into the kitchen and have a coffee and breakfast with him before doing what you did last night all over again—sober this time. But by now, his uncle was probably home too. You’d have to do that as soon as you got your own place. Then you could be fucking all day long and… you swallowed.
“Uh, yeah… sure. Three.”
“Alright.” You beamed at him. “I’ll see you there then.” You pressed a quick kiss to his lips before you climbed out of bed naked and gathered your clothes. Eddie grinned when you blew him one final kiss before you left the room fully dressed.
You had to admit it got a little awkward when you ended up walking straight past Wayne Munson who was at the kitchen table with a coffee and the morning paper in hand. There was absolutely no doubt the man new exactly what Eddie and you had done last night.
“Uh… morning, Mr. Munson.”
“Morning?” You didn’t need to explain. Well, Eddie did but not you, not right now. So you only gave him an apologetic smile and hurried out the door because three o’clock couldn’t come soon enough.
Tumblr media
You couldn’t stop grinning. Not when you apologised to your parents for worrying them and not calling, not when you took a shower, not even when you got some sustenance in to chase away the residue of the drugs and the alcohol in your body.
At around two thirty, you put on some make-up and then practically darted to the bus station to make it to Starcourt in time. Eddie was waiting for you already when you arrived. He leaned against a pillar near Scoops Ahoy wearing his usual attire, with one leg propped against it. His face lit up when he spotted you—only to darken only a fraction of a second later when he saw Jason and his laundry basket crew approach, instantly alert.
You paid them no mind. So you only nodded at Jason in greeting and then hurried toward Eddie, wrapping your arms around him to give him a long and passionate kiss.
“Hey…” he breathed out when you broke apart. Eddie blinked at you, incredulous at what you’d just done—almost as if you hadn’t had sex on a high last night.
“Hey. What’s… wrong? Are you alright?”
“N-nothing. I’m fine, sweetheart.” He glanced at Jason who kept on staring at you as if you’d just sacrificed a sheep to a demon. You shrugged your shoulders, interlaced Eddie’s fingers with yours and dragged him inside the ice cream shop.
“What do you want? I think chocolate chip mint is the best one but cherry sounds nice too. Pick whatever you like, it’s on me.”
Eddie quirked an eyebrow at you. “No, no, sweetheart. This is a date. I’m paying.”
“No you’re not. You can pay next time. You know how much the stuff you gave me…” You cleared your throat and lowered your voice. “…you gave me last night normally costs. I’m paying.”
Eddie smirked at you—you just wanted to kiss him all over again. “Cherry and chocolate chip mint, how about that?”
“I like the way you think.” So you ordered and then made yourself comfortable in one of the booths to munch on your ice cream. Eddie glanced behind him and then, all of a sudden, he had that unbelieving expression on his face yet again.
“Okay, what’s up? Something’s up. Did I say something? Did something happen?”
“I just… didn’t expect you to want to be in public with me.”
“I’m sorry, you what?” It was you who had incredulousness written all over your face now. Your heart dropped to your feet. “What… do you mean?”
“The girls I hooked up with before, from school… they didn’t want anything to do with me after they’d gotten laid by the freak,” he admitted. “Granted, there weren’t that many but still.” Your lips parted. Shit. That’s why he was acting all surprised. You had just snogged him in front of the entire former basketball team, after all.
Of course that raised the question of why he would invite you to that party in the first place if he’d suspected that you’d only wanted some free drugs and to be able to claim you’d fucked the freak to find out if he was just that in the sheets as well. But there was always hope. Hope that it could be different this time even if it was all subconscious. You suppressed a sigh.
“Why the hell wouldn’t I want that?” you asked so you wouldn’t pause for too long.
“Don’t know. I’m just used to it, okay?” he said with a fake smile, scooping up some of his ice cream.
Oh. And now he was overwhelmed and flattered and touched and confused and… and he didn’t know how to act. You scooted closer to him in the booth, leaning against his shoulder. “I couldn’t give a shit about what the other people think, Eddie. I was in a rush this morning because I didn’t tell my parents I’d probably spend the whole night out. And I said I felt gross because I hadn’t showered and because the remnants of the drugs made me feel all icky. Not because I regret what we did. Actually… I can’t wait to do it again.”
Eddie’s face lit up. He grinned. “With or without drugs?”
“Both.”
In other words, that cheeky metalhead was your boyfriend now. And you’d be damned if you didn’t tell the world that you were his girlfriend.

CHAPTER 1
Mapi and Ingrid were the perfect ending for each other. They knew it of course. But sometimes they felt like something was missing. Maybe someone. Some little legs running around their shared apartment in the catalonia town.
It started as a thought from their conversation one simple evening that turned them into a fostering process. They were told they are too busy and always traveling for the games as all the workers have said. It wasn't an environment for a little kid that probably came out of something tragic to find itself in a foster system.
They still tried. They still asked if there was someone they could foster and later adopt. But the simple "No" set their hopes to minimum, until one day.
„Are you totally insane Eliza!" My social worker yelled at me as soon as she found me in a police station sitting in the 24 hour jail. I looked down at my bleeding knuckles and pursed my lips to stop the pounding pain in them.
I shrugged my shoulders and let myself sink further into the uncomfortable wooden chair.
„Do you have any idea how this will look  on your record. Running from yet another of your homes is one thing there but fights. And don't let me start at your school records." She was looking at me through the bars of the cell.
„They weren't my home." I said looking up at her.
She sighs: „Eliza I know you don't like them, but you need to at least try. There aren't many families that want a 16 year old, yet trouble maker. You know how hard it was for me to find you Mr and Mrs Freemans?" She let the question sink. She didn't expect me to answer her, yet she stayed quiet.
„I was protecting myself in the fight AND running away was a way better option than staying." I argued back at her. She doesn't know how it is in the foster system. For her every family is good, but it's never the case.
I was in five families so far. Neither of them were okay.
In the first one the father abused me mentally the second one physically, but no one ever believed me.
Who would believe a 16year old girl over people who put everything together once they're investigating? No one...
I didn't eat normal food for a long time, of course I always ended up getting some bread or cold food, but my body was missing some hot and fresh food.
„Eliza we talked about this. A roof over your head is home.“ Again I stayed quiet and just stared at my now numb hands. She wasn’t right. Home is when you are somewhere you are loved and treated right.
My social worker continued to look at me for a few more minutes until she signaled for the cop to release me: „You are sleeping in my office tonight. The family dropped your things into my car. Come on.“ She grabbed me by my arm and dragged me into her car.
„You bailed me out?“ I asked as she started the engine.
„Yes.“ It was a simple answer but it made me smile a little. At least someone cared.
The next day my social worker forced me into my classes and said after school to go immediately to her office, saying she found a family for me to stay over there for a couple of days. I didn’t bother to go, instead I went to a small football field where I sneaked and borrowed one ball which was always lying around somewhere on the pitch.
I threw my backpack onto the field which didn’t include any of my school stuff. Instead of books it was filled with my football shoes and a half of my skateboard. The other half was showing from the back pack as it of course didn’t fit into him.
I quickly changed my shoes and began to do some tricks with the ball that I learned online. They were simple but at least I didn't suck at it like I did with school.
It wasn't like I was stupid or something, I just didn't care. Foster kids don't normally get picked out to the school football team or to anything really. You don't have many friends because you are always moving around and no one likes new kids anyway.
After some time my phone blew up with messages and missed calls from my social worker asking where the FUCK I was. I just rolled my eyes and said I'll be there in a few minutes. It was better to come late, at least they won't pick me if they see that I'm not bothered.
I would lie if I didn't say I was scared to go into the office door. It would mean meeting the people who I would live with. They never were nice people fostering me.
They seemed okay but most of them turned out into drug junkies, alcoholics or abusers. Sometimes all at once. I am kind of used to it now. I mastered a skill in running away and quickly scanning the areas I was in to see a potential way out.
I took a deep breath and with a bored expression knocked on the door and opened them immediately after.
I was met with my social worker and two women talking.
„Eliza, come here. Sit.” My social worker said, making me sigh and sit into the chair next to her facing the two women.
„This is Maria and Ingrid and they will take you in, until I find someone to adopt you.” my social worker was saying but all I was focusing on were the two women in front of me.
One of them had tattoos all over her arms and one on her neck. I focused on that one more:
Looks can be deceiving
Hmm interesting. People with tattoos tend to look aggressive and most of the time they are. One of the last foster homes I was in, the man had many tattoos…I used to look at them when he beat me up. How his muscles flexed and the tattoos moved on his arms.
„Eliza!” I was torn from my thoughts because my social worker called my name.
„Yeah, sure whatever.” I mumbled annoyed and stood up.
„Be nice and please stay out of trouble.” She said as I followed Ingrid and Maria out of the door.
I took a deep breath: „No.” And with that I closed the door and turned around to find them staring at me.
„What?” I asked.
Ingrid smiles at me: „We are waiting for you.” she stuck out her hand and I just looked at it and walked past them.
„Or not.” I heard Maria mumble as they followed me closely.
Due to me not knowing where to go I stopped and looked back at the two women.
„It’s that black Cupra.” Ingrid pointed out a black car sitting at the back of the parking lot.
I nodded and walked to the car feeling them right behind me.
I quickly slipped into the back seat and sat down with my backpack next to all of my bags which I don't know how they got there. Probably my social worker.
I pulled my board between my legs so I don't make the interior of the car dirty. It was so clean.
„So, are you hungry? Or did you eat in school?” Maria turned from the front seat facing me.
I shook my head quickly: „I am not hungry.” I learned that by now, when someone asks me if I'm hungry the answer always has to be no. I once said yes and I hadn't eaten anything for three days due to me being ungrateful.
They both shared a concerned look which I didn't see because I was already looking out of the window.
When Ingrid stopped the car I realized that we were in front of McDonald's. I frowned, why are we here if I said I'm not hungry?
„I know you said you aren't hungry but I think some fries aren't that big of a deal, what do you say?” Ingrid turned my way smiling. Why the fuck is she smiling at me?
„I guess…” I mumbled in case this was some kind of a trap. Ingrid and Maria looks nice…nicer that the other people, but I am done trusting the system putting me somewhere nice.
They both went outside of the car as I stayed in.
„Well you are coming too let's go.” Maria said as she opened the door on my side. Fuck! I mumbled under my breath and got out of the car carefully placing my board into the space between the seats.
They were asking too many questions. If I really want just fries? If I want a burger as well? Or what I want to drink. I tried to reply short and no to most of the questions, but in the end I ended up with The nuggets, fries and coke zero in the back placed safely in my lap as we sat in the car to their house.
I still don’t know what to think about them. They are smiling at me, buying me food and making sure I have everything and it has only been two hours since they first met me. There must be something wrong with them…
Ingrid parked the car in front of a flat building in the center of Barcelona. It looked expensive here…or at least better than the streets where my usual foster parents lived. Maria took all of my bags even though I said I could carry them on my own, but she dismissed me by saying: “Why would you do that?”
I didn’t fight her back on it, not because I didn’t want to, but it was Ingrid who literally guided me out of Marias way.
“Come on let Maria be, I am going to show you your room.” Ingrid said and with her hand on my back she led me into the elevator. I had the Mcdonald's back in one hand and my board in the other one. I get my own room?

I'm sorry

I’m sorry.
Summary: Readers the daughter of Tony Stark.
Word count: 1091
Warning: Angst, I’m sorry. Tony’s not a good dad – again im sorry. Death.
Masterlist
Tumblr media
Being the product of a one night stand was something I was always embarrassed about. It was one night, one night he spent with a woman he barely knew or remembered the name of and nine months later I was born. When I was 6 my mum married a man who after a year gave her the ultimatum, me or him. She chose him so I had to go and live with a man I met a couple of times. I loved it at first but slowly became numb to living with him. Being the daughter of Tony Starks greatest mistake was bittersweet.
~~~
“For God sake Y/N stop asking! You know I won’t be able to. I’m busy”
“I-Im sor-“
“Get out!”
“Tony don’t shout please I’ve got a headache”
“Sorry Pep”
I ran back to my room with tears rolling down my cheeks. All I wanted was him to come to my school to watch the play I was in.
~~~
“Dad can-“
“Not now pumpkin I’m busy with Pepper”
“Bu-“
“No Y/N this is important. Go and bother Nat or Wanda”
Dejected I went back to my room to blow out the candles neatly placed on my own birthday cake I had made.
~~~
“H-hi dad I was wondering if you could come to my class to tal-?”
“I can’t pumpkin I’m going to be busy”
“O-oh okay”
~~~
“Dad can you come to my lacrosse game next week? I’ll be starting”
“Of course pumpkin, wouldn’t miss it”
“R-r-really?”
“Umhuh”
The night of the game I was ecstatic, at the start of the game he hadn’t arrived but put it down to him finding somewhere to park. I’d won the final goal, I wasn’t even bothered by my teams’ reactions, I just wanted to see my dad’s. Turns out he was busy having dinner with the team.
I gave up trying to get my dads attention after that.
~~~
Pacing the hallway of his office I gathered all the courage I could muster to raise my hand and knock on the door.
“Come in”
“Hi dad I was just wondering if me and you could go to this new restaurant in town, and well you see I need to talk to you about something important” I rushed out before he could interrupt which is something he loves to do with me.
“Slow down pumpkin, when?” He chuckles.
“Tonight, if possible?”
“Of course darling”
“O-oh okay meet you outside common room at 6?”
“I’ll be there”
For the rest of the day I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. I cleaned my room, showed and got dressed. I made my way to the common room where I came to a halt.
“Going out with the family to have a lovely dinner at the new restaurant in town” Tony’s face was bright as he looked at Pepper, Peter and Morgan.
I was standing there watching them go into the elevator, frozen. I could feel eyes on me and that’s when I looked to see the Avengers looking at me with pity in their eyes. Before anyone could say anything, I turned on my heels and walked back to my room. I’m ashamed to admit I cried.
Months had gone by with little to no interaction with my father, the times we did talk it was awkward and uncomfortable for the both of us.
~~~
“-I’m really sorry Miss Stark-“ the doctors lips continued to move but it felt like I was under water and his words were muffled, I simply nodded along. Scrambling out of the chair I made a beeline towards the entrance of the hospital desperately needing fresh air. I tried ringing my dad but to no surprise he didn’t answer.
Numbly walking back to the tower, the realisation of how alone I truly was hit hard. And with the truth swarming around my head, I just couldn’t hold the tears at bay anymore. Maybe an hour had past when I finally wiped my tears and continued the walk back home.
There were screams of joy and excitement when I arrived, ‘happy birthday’ banners and balloons surrounded every corner of the place. Since I hasn’t even been invited to Morgan’s birthday party I headed straight to my room as soon as I hit the bed I was out like a light.
The following week past in a blur but for everyone around me they didn’t see anything different about me. Surprisingly it was Tony that realised something wasn’t quite right.
“What’s going on with you Y/N? You’ve been walking around this place like a zombie”
“Why do you care?”
“What do you mean? I’m your dad”
I couldn’t help the roll my eyes did. “Sure”
“Don’t talk to me like tha-“
“I’m dying dad, got a few weeks left in me so just please continue to leave me alone.” The whole room had fallen silence at my confession. I couldn’t stand looking at my dad opening and closing his mouth like a goddam fish, so I turned around and walked straight out.
~~~
“Tony, Tony we found her! Hurry up” Steve was panting whilst trying to get Tony off the floor.
The jet hovered just inches off the moss-covered ground when Tony opened the door and leapt out. He ran straight to the cabin that once belonged to his father. Knocking the door down he searched the small home for his daughter, when he came to the closed bedroom door his heart hammering in his chest, his hands trembled with every breath. The team stood behind slightly to the right of him all wearing the same expression. Nervous with a slight look of hope.
The creak of the hinges revealed his oldest daughter laying in the bed. Tony was never a religious man but in that moment, he was begging to God that his baby girl was just asleep as he took tiny steps towards the bed.
The team waited with bated breath for Tony and you to emerge from the room. That was until they heard the heartbreaking cries and pleading from a broken man. They bowed their heads and wept.
It had been hours since Tony had found you, he held you close to his chest crying and begging you to wake up. “I’m so sorry I f-failed you my pump-pkin, please come back! I’m sorry. Please. I love you. I’m sorry I let you down time and time again my pumpkin”
Tony’s life was never the same after the loss of his greatest accomplishment.
Jealous Student
Wanda Maximoff x Nerd!Reader (High School AU)
Tumblr media
You’ve been dating popular girl and magic user Wanda Maximoff for close to a few months at this point.
Honestly you’ve been on cloud nine. You and Wanda knew everything about one another already thanks to your strong friendship. Everyone in Wanda’s friend circle approved of you.
It didn’t matter to Wanda that you were a nerd, you were her nerd.
Everything was going well or so you thought. It was around this time that a foreign exchange student came in. His name was Vision Jarvis, a proper British chap.
It didn’t take long, literally five minutes of walking on to campus to make a beeline for your girlfriend.
“Excuse me, miss?” The proper British accent showing, “can you tell me where I can locate Mr Fury’s class?”
“Yes that’s Y/N and mine’s class” she explains, gesturing to you.
“Perfect. I’m Vision.” He shakes her hand and kisses her knuckles.
“Wanda” she gives a smile.
“And I’m Y/N” you give him a handshake, trying not to show the jealousy brewing in your very soul.
Wanda gives your hand a gentle squeeze as the two of you guide Vision to your class.
Vision quickly starting hanging out with you and Wanda. He quickly gained the affection of all your friends.
“Watch out, Hufflepuff” Tony Stark warns you within the week.
“What?”
“Proper British dude? The accent?” He explains, “no girl can resist any accent.”
“I take it you used an accent when you asked out Pepper?”
“Didn’t fool her at all but I did make her laugh” he smirks.
Vision was seeming awful chummy with Wanda. He was a fan of Dick Van Dyke and Florence and the Machine.
Somehow you felt that you were starting to become the third wheel.
You approach Wanda during lunch, handmade lunches in tow. “Hey Wanda, I was wondering if you wanted to continue our Harry Potter marathon tonight”
“Harry Potter?” Vision chimes, “i love the Wizarding World!”
“Uhh…Vision was wondering if he could tag along.” Wanda looks at you uneasy.
“Oh” you find your voice brimming with sadness, “well…uhh…”
Vision interrupts, “Wanda I was inquiring if you and Y/N would like to join me for tea later”
“Well Vis the thing is-“ Wanda tries to say. But it was too late you walked away, a few tears making their way down your cheek.
“Detka?!” Wanda calls out to you before chasing after you.
“You seem awful chummy with him” you state, trying to keep from being heard by anyone else but her.
“Vis? Well he’s new.” Wanda tries to explain.
“It’s the accent right?”
“Huh? What are you talking about?”
“You like him. You like Vision more than me” you finally blurt out.
“No I don’t.” Wanda looks at you so confused.
“Does he even know we’re dating? No one is ever that chummy with someone unless they’re into you”
“Y/N will you just listen?” Wanda takes your face in her hands, “Detka you’re the one I love.”
Vision walks up to you and Wanda, “I apologize for interrupting, but Vivian invited me out for coffee.”
“Vivian?” You ask.
“Yes. She is quite lovely. Thank you both so much for being my friends recently.” Vision finishes, “I hope I haven’t caused any strife. By the way you make such a lovely couple”
“T-thank you” you shake his hand as he walks over to a young girl.
Wanda looks to you, a little cocked eyebrow, “was my detka jealous?”
“Maybe.” You whisper. “It’s just that you’re so amazing and I’m so…bland”
“No you’re not.” Wanda giggles pulling you into a hug. “You are just right…for me.”
“So do you wanna have a Harry Potter marathon, my Slytherin?”
“With only you, my Hufflepuff” Wanda gives you a kiss on the nose.
You turn to go to class but Wanda stops you. She pulls you close and whispers in your ear, “I think we can afford to play hooky at least once in our lives.”
The two of you quickly run out of Avengers High. Tony simply smirks, being the only person to see the two of you leaving.
One day out on the town won’t kill your grades. But one life without Wanda would be unbearable.
Pairing: Mr.Miller (Millers Girl) X f!reader
Tags: NSFW(in the later chapter), Age Gap(reader is 18 Mr.Miller about 50), porn with plot(more tags will be added a soon as the chapter contains smut
word count: 834 ( short ikkkk)
It is early in the morning, one can hear the rain dripping from the windows in the classroom. Sitting there with my legs crossed, reading, I hear the classroom door open quietly. A man walks in, the wooden flooring creaks under his slow, but heavy steps. He arrives at his desk and turns around to face me, "Who are you?" he asks me with a stern look on his face as he leans onto his desk. I give him a soft smile and answer him "I'm Y/N", his eyes wander over my face as I answer him.
"I´m Mr.Miller" he pauses for a second looking directly into my eyes and moving closer to my desk. "Are you new in town?", "No, just wanted to take a course this year that is demanding", I can see a faint smile on his face as I answer him. "well I'm glad to have you here but I'm sorry to tell you are a bit early", "oh I don't mind, I knew about that ,he chuckles to himself that moment the school bell rings and the doors swing open Ii turn around to see other students rushing into the classroom.
After the lessons ended he calls me to his desk, "Here's the book list for this year's curriculum " he hands me a piece of paper and I let out a small laugh, "what is it?" he asked me with a confused smile on his face. "I've already read the whole list", "All 20 of them?", "i don't sleep" I answer him with a smile. "your impressive" he answers me, " i except a lot of great things from you" he smirks, "sure do" i answer him with a smile and walk out of the classroom.
As the weeks pass by, Mr.Miller and I grow a lot closer, from the little smiles and looks he gives me during class, to the cigarettes we share during the lunch break. Every time I see his face, his figure leaning against a wall or I catch him stealing looks at me it feels like the room is spinning like someone is hitting me into my stomach with full force, my knees start to feel wobbly and I need to catch my breath. Does he feel the same?
During one of our annual shared cigarette breaks on the bench behind the football field, he suddenly speaks up, "About that midterm paper" "What about it" I answer him as I turn my head to fully look at him. "How about I give you the assignment early?" he says while grinning at me through his sunglasses, "Are you giving me special treatment?", he nods and takes a drag from his cigarette as he gives me a look that has something seductive about it, "Thank you Mr.Miller" his name rolls over my tongue, and for a couple of seconds we just look into each other's eyes. "so what's the assignment," I ask after a few moments of silence, he looks startled like he was just woken up out of a trance, "yeah sure of course, you're supposed to write a short story in the style of your favorite author".
I see Mr.Miller less and less in the last two weeks before the winter break, we don't share cigarettes anymore during the lunch break and we also don't talk before and after my lessons with him, I'm so caught up with the assignment. I miss him, i miss the way the smoke would escape his lips, the way he would place his hands on my shoulder and the way he would say my name.
I turned in the midterm paper during winter break via mail, no response. As soon as I step foot into school the first day after winter break he calls me into his classroom, he seems angered. "what is it, Mr.Miller?" I ask him with an innocent look, "What the fuck did you write there ?" he points to my assignment on his desk as he takes a few steps closer to me, "I did what you asked of me" I answer as I walk towards him, I've never heard him swear before. "your assignment was not to write porn" I can see his cheeks flush as he says that, I step closer to him so that now our faces are only inches apart. "look you're a talented young girl, but I did not expect this when you said your favorite author is Henry Miller, this is unacceptable" he gives me that stern look again he gave me at the beginning of the school year, but now that look has a tad of lust in it, a touch excitement and fascination. "You have to rewrite this," he tells me "Or what?" I answer him with a dumbfounded look on my face, I notice his eyes switching between my lips and my eyes, while it seems like his body is pulling towards me he raises his hand to hold the side of my head.
You win some and you lose some (Alenoah)
Growing up, Alejandro was a I always win type of child. There was no losing. There was no throwing on purpose. There wasn’t a bigger picture. Only winning. Come forth grade, he started to see how boosting classmates' egos could in turn boost their opinion of him. And, by product, give him a leg up in both school and social status.
He was on top of the world. A few gifts and charming compliments netted him every student of the year award on top of about a dozen others.
Freshman year though. That almost really humbled him. There were a few bothers, that he got rid of rather quickly. Students the teachers seemed to like just a little too much. Kids whose grades he needed to strike down early, and eliminate the possible enemy later.
Everything was fine. And then it wasn’t.
Noah showed up sophomore year and appeared to have a special talent for flying under the radar. Until he started taking the places of Alejandro’s name in the morning announcements. In almost every aspect that didn’t involve sports.
That year, they didn’t share any classes. Alejandro almost never ran into the boy. Only saw a couple flops of his overgrown hair in the hallway in between classes. (He looked him up online, then, when that yielded no results, searched through neighboring highschool yearbooks.)
The next year, Noah was in every single one of his AP classes. And he didn’t give a single shit about any of Alejandro’s advances. Responded coldly when Alejandro forced his signature friendly smile. Put his headphones in when Alejandro greeted him in the halls. He didn’t react to flirting.
So, for the first time in his life, Alejandro started working harder. There was someone he couldn’t beat. Someone he couldn’t manipulate.
He paid attention. Learned his schedule. Learned what he ate for lunch. Learned who his friends were.
That got his attention. When Alejandro started fucking around with Owen and Eva. Flirted with Gwen and led on Leshawna, only to leave her in pieces.
It only seemed to motivate him more. It’s exhilarating.
Noah always seems to have a comeback. Always something to say. Always one step ahead or one step behind and Alejandro literally wakes in the morning trying to make sure that he is in the lead. Thinking up what he can say or do or be to throw him off.
Senior year and the race is too close to tell. All Alejandro knows is that it’s him or Noah. Third place is a whole .3 gpa behind and that’s not even a doable comeback at this point.
All he has to do is think, breathe, look, and speak Noah.
And then Courtney moves to town half way through the year. Her gpa is right there with them. 4.05. And she’s running for school president and interning at some fancy law office on the other side of town and her father has just as much pull as his own. And she wants nothing to do with anyone. A real Type-A good girl that has her sights set on Harvard.
And all of the sudden this isn’t fun anymore.
Alejandro and Noah team up. There’s no way this random girl can just wander in and steal their place for free. She needs a distraction. Something that will help her live a little.
And what better distraction than love? Someone to give her butterflies. Just enough to miss that one assignment and throw her out of the competition forever.
Gwen seems like the perfect candidate.
-
Academic rivals Alejandro and Noah team up to set Courtney with their friend Gwen and fall in love in the process.
(this is not my day 2 LMAO. I was just thinking about this and wanted to type it out)
MASTAPOST
Jack Fenton’s mad driving had them racing up the mountain path. Bruce couldn’t even enjoy the beautiful scenery as every corner seemed to invite a brush with death. He wasn’t sure if the orange man was insane and lucky or one of the best drivers he’d met in his life. In no time at all, they reached the top of the mountain, a noted campsite for many an adventurous teen or young couple.
Many teens, except for the missing trio at this moment.
Bruce already knew Daniel Fenton wouldn’t be here in all likelihood. And if he wasn’t here, there was little chance his two closest friends would, either. No, it was almost certainly a lie to disguise some other kind of activity, but it didn’t sit right with him that they might be doing something normal for a rebellious teen. Gangs, drugs, petty vandalism, dares. Something about their secretive demeanour and false aloofness pointed to a more fantastical answer. A more dangerous one.
As Bruce and the Fentons hopped off the SAV, they confirmed his suspicions. All he could see was trees, campfire stones, and bits of litter.
From his profile of Sam Manson, she would never tolerate such a thing. Every time he saw her, it was a protest of some kind, or loudly accosting litterers and people wearing leather jackets and carrying crocodile handbags, which practically confirmed his suspicions.
“Let’s spread out, we’ll cover more ground, and then meet back here in ten minutes.”
Ten minutes later, the three parents returned to the SAV, utterly empty-handed. Jack looked distraught, and Madeline was idly squeezing the handle of another gun. He hadn’t noticed that before. How many weapons did these people have?
“No sign. Nothing. Zilch.” Madeline muttered. “Why would they lie to us?”
Why wouldn’t a teenager lie, to be honest?
“Have you ever seen them do anything strange or out of the ordinary?” Bruce asked, the softer voice of a worried father.
Jack gasped. “What, like drugs?! Gangs? We chased those suckers out of town years ago! Danno would never get tangled with them!”
That was a story that Bruce would probably have to look into later.
At the same time, Madeline’s brow furrowed. “He did go missing half a year ago…”
Jack’s expression softened. “Yeah, kid was so shaken he never spoke about it. Can you imagine? Gone for a week, then shows up back home outta nowhere and didn’t even wanna talk about it.”
Bruce nodded, understanding fully what they had felt. Jack punched his open palm. “I oughta find whoever was responsible and tear them apart. Molecule by molecule.” His body slumped, voice losing its vigour again. “But Jazzy told us it was only gonna hurt him, pressing for info, so we haven’t.”
“After that, his grades started dropping. Danny’s a genius I tell you. A Fenton in every way, but after we got him back, he started skipping class, and making vague excuses all the time…” She shook her head and sat down, body seeming to gain days of exhaustion in a second. “It’s like he’s changed, somehow.”
Bruce considered this info… Sixth months ago? The timeline was suspicious. Six months ago, Daniel Fenton had gone missing. A week later, he shows up out of nowhere, refusing to speak of his experience. Soon after, sirens began to terrorise the city, with Phantom playing sometimes hero, sometimes criminal. Daniel Fenton’s behaviour changes drastically. Daniel, his two friends and Damian disappear on the same day. What was the connection?
Jack Fenton crouched on the ground beside his wife, frowning. “But that’s surely gotta be some kind of trauma response, right? That’s what Jazzy always says.”
“Maybe…” Bruce muttered.
Jack picked up on this, and looked up to where Bruce was still standing. “Maybe what, Brucie?”
“No, it was just a curiosity I had. I’m so sorry to interrupt, but I was wondering about Phantom. Didn’t he appear six months ago too?”
Instantly, the Fenton parents scowled. Madeline clenched her fist around the gun. “That damned fishboy. He parades himself as a hero but we all know he’s a menace! Just last week he stole one of the prototypes for the Fenton Wrist Ray! How?! He doesn’t even have legs!”
And that right there was the big question, but there were a few hang-ups before he could move forward with his theory.
“I thought some of the previous sirens who attacked had legs.”
Jack shrugged, his hands making a so-so motion. “Well it’s actually kind of interesting. See, sirens’ bodies are based on a-“
Maddie laid a hand on his shoulder. “Honey, maybe we should keep the explanation short this time.”
“Right! The answer is we don’t know!”
Madeline face-palmed. “Some sirens demonstrate the ability to shift between their true form and a human-passing form. That being said, we’ve never seen Phantom’s human form, so we don’t even know if he can’t, or just hasn’t. We know for a fact there are some sirens that straight up can’t shift, but what determines that fact is unclear.”
Bruce hummed. A moment of pause before the next thought. “What if he didn’t need to shift?”
The Fentons’ mouths gaped open. “Are you saying…?”
“The last time I talked to your son before he disappeared, he didn’t seem to share most of your opinions towards the siren race. He seemed… evasive.” More than that. Daniel Fenton looked like he had the world on his shoulders, and he couldn’t share it with anyone. Or rather: couldn’t share it with his parents.
“That’s impossible! Danno would never-” But Madeline interrupted her husband.
“He has been running off a lot. Jack, how else would our inventions get into Phantom’s hands?”
Jack Fenton stared at his wife for a minute, eyes slowly opening in horror. “Floundering fishes. The punk’s brainwashed him!”
Bruce waved his hands back and forth frantically. “Maybe that’s going a bit far, don’t you think? I’m sure there’s-”
Madeline grabbed his arm and yanked him into the SAV with surprising might. “No time! I know where the kids are!”
Bruce startled, even as Jack Fenton jumped into the driver’s seat. How on earth did she make that deduction?
Of course, he didn’t doubt their intelligence, only their sanity. They were smart enough to figure out all of this tech, but detectives they were not (the profile he had done on them was thorough). Perhaps he underestimated them.
Hold on, what was he thinking? His deduction was that the kids were somewhere on the coast, in one of the many coves around Amity Bay, where they likely snuck out often to contact Phantom.
In that case, why on earth was Jack not turning the duckboat around?
“Dr Fenton, what are you doing?!” The high-pitched squeak at the end of his question was regrettably not entirely fake.
“The fastest way to rescue the kids!” Jack said, a manic gleam in his eyes visible via the rear view mirror. The mad scientist slammed the gas. Bruce’s seat slammed into his back. The billionaire braced himself.
The SAV charged through the campsite, weaving in between trees and rocks and debris. Up ahead the woods cleared to reveal the ocean over a cliff.
Jack did not slow down. He sped up. The cliff came closer. And closer. Jack sped up further.
There was no longer any ground beneath the wheels.
We cut to preserve Bruce Wayne’s dignity.
Meanwhile, in the middle of the ocean…
Damian scanned his left. He scanned the right. He glanced up into the clear sky. He peered down at the dark. He took a peek behind his shoulders. With his decision made, he made his declaration with poise and finality.
“I spy with my little eye, something b-”
“IT’S THE WATER!”
Damian’s eye twitched.
Danny nodded eagerly, like a lost puppy begging for attention. Scratch that. Lost puppies were far more lovable. “Come on. It’s the water, right? Right??”
“I spy. With my. Little. Eye. Something beating. You imbecile.”
“Crap. Uhhhmm…” Danny blinked, eyes turning sky high as he searched for answers. “Is it a bird? Because some people call their movements wingbeats.”
Damian’s jaw dropped. “No! It was your heart! Your heart beating!” He punctuated every word with an aggressive tap at Danny’s translucent chest, a still frighteningly visceral display case for his blue heart.
“That’s stupid! I could’ve come up with a better one!”
“The last three you did were the water, the sky and the sun respectively.”
“I said I could, not that I would!”
“I do admit. I did not account for birds’ wingbeats.”
“HAH!”
Back to the parents…
Never had Bruce ever feared for his life more than what just happened.
May he never speak of it again.
“See Brucie? Jack Fenton is an ace driver. You’ll never fear for your life in my capable hands!”
Madeline nudged her husband. “Honey, focus.”
“Oh sorry. Where to, sweetie?”
“The cove!”
Bruce shook the adrenaline off. Back to business. Coincidentally, he’d just received a pertinent message from the Cave.
“Hey B.” Tim’s voice filtered through the tiny ear piece Bruce kept at all times, accompanied by rapid clacking, almost fast enough to merge into a continuous clackackckackackack. “Half the footage you sent was corrupted. I saved the other half, but I haven’t been able to look through it. Currently fighting a hacker and trying to get back into Amity’s servers. Just got a breakthrough though. He’s based in Amity, currently location: the cove just underneath the mountain on the main island. RR Out.”
Bingo.
That cove being a hollow space in the mountain carved out by seawater and erosion. There was a small waterfall covering the entrance and obscuring view. As the SAV drove past the barrier, Bruce heard two gasps of shock.
There they were. A black boy in a yellow shirt and red beret, skin caked in sweat, hunched over a desk with a laptop glaring brightly in the otherwise-dimly lit room. Beside him, a pale girl in all black, clutching an old tome and glaring viciously at him.
But where on earth was Daniel Fenton?
And where was Damian?
My Hero Academia Chapter 428 Spoiler Talk: Did Kohei Horikoshi Just Blueball Us???
So, that just happened, huh? Not a bad chapter by any means. It was a solid, slice-of-life-ish chapter that continues to give us our beloved Class 2-A kids some idea of how life is going to be like now that the war is over:
The chapter starts off where we left off 2 weeks ago with the new first-years (the new Class 1-A) fangirling over Shoto and Bakugo. Iida has to step in to stop the chaos while Bakugo and Shoto hide behind him like little kids using their big brother as a shield 😂! It's cool to know that our kids have fans now and seeing them as Senpai to new Kohais is a nice idea to think about. I also like that there's a panel of Shinsou in the class to remind all of us that he's part of the main group now.
There's also a tall 1st-year who is inspired by Deku and wants to be like him after seeing him fight in the war! I love that for him 💚! I don't think Deku's really had any fans outside his classmates before, so it's nice to see how people are looking up to him like how he looked up to All Might.
A little later, we see our Class 2-A working to help clean up the wreckage from the war with Fat Gum, Best Jeanist, and Edgeshot who FUCKING SURVIVED (BRO, HOW???) and is now just a big strand of string with a face and tiny string arms 😂😭! It's a funny visual for now, but Edgeshot says that he'll be better than ever hopefully which makes Bakugo show a wobbly, awkward smile 🧡.
I also love how much Bakugo has changed in general. It has been a slow, general progression, but it's clear that he's softening up and opening up more to the people around him. It's such great character development for him. I love this dude so much 🧡
It's also cool to see the kids work and use their Quirks to help clean up all the rubble. We've seen them do this a little before during the Provisional License Exam, but it's good to see it again because it's a good reminder that there's more to Hero work than just beating the bad guys and saving civilians. I can absolutely see how a lot of their Quirks can help out with clean-up duty, but I can't help but wonder how people like Jiro, Shinsou, and Kaminari use their Quirks though can already think of some ideas. Actually, Kaminari can restore power to towns and cities, but he can't use his Quirk to help pick up rubble.
The civilians and even the new Class 1-A kids come along and are more than willing to help clean up the mess too. The heroes are being trusted more again and then getting help from the people who they thought lost faith in them is a great sign for that bright future everyone hopes for. I also have high hopes for the new UA kids. They're already heroes in their own right by wanting to help during their first few days at the school. I also really like the look of the few new designs we get out of these kids. As expected of our mangaka!
Later that night, we are told that the students at UA aren't forced to stay at the dorms anymore, probably because things have calmed down after the war. This is good to hear because while I know the kids loved life at the dorms, I'm sure they missed their families too. I won't be surprised if some students in general decide to stay home for a while. I'm sure this also gives Horikoshi an excuse not to draw so many characters in one panel because god knows this man has his work cut out for him over the next 2-3 weeks.
The last couple of pages boil down to beautifully drawn panels of Ochako who's still keeping up that fake smile and optimistic façade and Izuku and Tsuyu worrying about her because something is CLEARLY wrong. Ochako does eventually break down remembering Himiko Toga and her fate. This chapter doesn't outright confirm nor deny what happened to Toga, but I'm pretty sure she's dead. I don't think Ochako would be this sad if Toga was alive in any capacity. It sucks because Toga had a change of heart in her final moments and I think she would have been given something of a second chance had she lived. But, maybe not because I don't know how society would really treat her if she was allowed to go out in public again. I would love for Toga to be alive, but I'm betting my gatcha money that she isn't... Still, this is a big loss for Ochako and I feel for her. I still can't help but feel we got blueballed on Toga's fate, though and I'm not sure how to really feel about that.
The final page shows us that Izuku used some embers of One For All to get to Ochako who's on the same hill back during the "We're Weird" conversation they had before the Final War. First off, Izuku bby 🥹💚. Second, this absolutely sets up Izuku and Ochako finally talking to each other since the Final War ended. I assume some kind of love confession is going to happen, but I'm not 100% sure because I don't know if now is a good time for that or not. Ochako definitely needs a shoulder to cry on and Izuku needs to talk to someone about what happened, so we'll have to see where things go from here.
Regardless, we have 2 chapters left and something has to happen before the end. It's going to be bittersweet next week though because we are getting the Cover and a Color Page in WSJ! These will be the last ones we get, so I hope they're special. Knowing Horikoshi, the art and coloring are going to be immaculate and I am going to cry happy tears for the next 2 weeks.
We will also get a 16-chapter tie-in chapter for the new You're Next movie by Yoko Akiyama, the mangaka for the spin-off Team Up Missions manga! I love her art so much! It's very similar to Horikoshi's, but the style and the coloring especially is so soft and cute! It's perfect for a slice-of-life-esque spin-off like TUM and she hasn't disappointed me yet. Plus, I'm 99% sure she did the manga tie-ins for the 2nd and 3rd movies too, so this was expected.
We're finally at the penultimate and final chapters of the series. I still can't believe it's ending. Just 2 weeks to go starting this Sunday.
Follow the Leader: Chapter 1
I wrote this because I love body-switching trope stories and I decided to share this one.
Story Summary: David switches bodies with a stranger, Michael Emerson, after a motorcycle accident. Michael has to take on the role of a vampire gang leader while David has to adapt to a domestic human life until they can figure out how to change back.
Chapter Summary: David has to deal with the stresses of being the lead vampire of his pack. There is more to making life run smoothly as a vampire besides existing and looking cool
Word Count: 3165
David stood just outside the cave, taking a drag of his cigarette. His eyes scanned the horizon, watching the last rays of the sun disappear beyond the water. Food, he thought to himself. Fuck, we need gas… he adjusted his gaze to his hands as he mentally listed off the chores for today. Eating, refueling, mending part of his jacket. The list went on and on.
The thing about being the leader of his crew was having to keep track of everything happening. His boys were demanding when it came to lifestyles. He had to keep track of getting fuel and repairs for the bikes. He had to keep up with all of their little hobbies. Buying the cigarettes for himself, the weed that they shared, the alcohol, the art supplies for Marko, the list never ended.
Being a vampire came with a lot of responsibilities.
He finished his cigarette and headed back into the cave. The other three boys were finally awake. When the bleach blonde arrived, the boys sat up and gave him their attention. “Breakfast?” Marko asked immediately.
“Yes. There were a couple of those assholes from the other day-” David began.
“Dewy and Martin, right?” Paul cut in quickly.
David inclined his head. “Yes. I expect we’ll find them on the boardwalk. They’re our target tonight.”
“What about that chick Donna?” Marko asked.
David shook his head. “No, not yet. Later this week.”
“But what if I’m still hungry?” the youngest whined.
The leader sighed softly, looking over the curly haired vampire. He hated having to ration food. It wasn’t fair. “We can grab a snack on the boardwalk later,” David promised. “Let’s head out.”
The crew followed David obediently to the bikes. The vampires mounted the motorcycles and headed to town.
How’d the stalking go last night? David telepathically asked Dwayne over the sounds of their engines.
Just fine. Dewy and Martin should be heading to the arcade tonight if nothing’s changed, Dwayne responded.
Good. Let’s hope they’re there. David led the pack straight into town towards the main parking lot of the boardwalk.
We could go after Donna as a plan B, Dwayne responded as they rolled up to park their bikes. It’s Tuesday and last I checked she had a spinning class that ends at nine.
David sat back on his bike as he cut the engine. He fished a pocket watch out of his coat to check the time. Then we don’t have much time. Those brats better be at the arcade. David was quick to lead the way onto the boardwalk. He couldn’t risk missing out on the potential meals. Grabbing someone random was always a huge risk.
The pack of vampires stalked down the boardwalk. David kept his eyes ahead of him, never faltering from the entrance to the arcade. He brought the rest of the pack up behind him as he slipped into the largest arcade on the boardwalk. Fan out, let’s find them, he demanded.
The vampires scattered quickly. David’s eyes were as sharp as a hawk’s. He scanned the tourists, searching for the two late teens who had harassed Paul almost three weeks ago. The teens were quickly added to their menu, but David didn’t want to snatch them right away. They were young and foolish. Someone would be looking for them if they didn’t come home. But he waited and watched. Last week, Dewy got kicked out of his family’s house for attacking his younger sister. Martin was housing him at his folk’s house, but Martin’s family was away in Los Angeles this week. Two boys, all alone. No one would know they’re gone for days.
The bleach blonde carefully admired the people he passed. He felt compelled to start stalking them. Tourists were so curious to him. He loved following them and figuring out their lives. He’d watch them from the windows of the hotels. He’d follow them on the rooftops across town. He’d listen in on their conversations and find out who they were and what they did. There were plenty of perfect meals wandering the boardwalk. He just had to find the right one and strike when the time was right.
Found them! Paul’s voice cut through the leader’s skull.
David sensed his companion and snaked through the crowd. The four vampires surrounded the teens without their knowledge. David’s eyes scouted through the crowd. The arcade was busy this evening. He could start a scene and provoke the teens into a fight. But then security would be called and tourists would remember their faces. Loss of good prey.
Marko, Dwayne, wait outside by the river. Paul and I will lure them there. Dwayne and Marko were quick to follow his orders. David liked to keep Marko out of potentially heated encounters since the young vampire had a temper.
The bleach blonde approached the teens. “Well,” he stated, alerting them to his presence. “Dooby, right?” His tone was drenched in mockery.
The hot headed Dewy whirled around on David. It took him a moment to recognize the older boy and his companion that he saw a few weeks back. “Oh, it’s you,” Dewy remarked. The teen looked David over before giving a sneer. “Couldn’t find anything else besides your grandmother’s dress to wear today?”
David gave a small mockery laugh. “It’s called having class, kid. Something you’ll never have.” The vampire looked the brat’s outfit over. He lashed out a hand and snatched the boy’s chain around his neck. He yanked it off harshly, resulting in hatred flashing across the kid’s face. “Only dogs wear chains,” David teased.
“Oh you’re on pal,” the boy hissed.
David turned on his heel and shoved through the arcade. Get to the edge of the boardwalk, and quickly, David instructed.
Paul nodded and quickly disappeared among the crowd.
The boys weren’t interested in his taller companion. Dewy and Martin stayed on David’s heels as the vampire brought the two straight out of the arcade building. He paused just enough to rile up Dewy enough to lunge for him. David sidestepped the teen and then ran towards the river.
Paul stalked just out of sight. He followed the chase past the roller coaster and down towards the river. Dwayne and Marko stood their ground in the darkness, waiting for the ambush.
David brought the teens towards the river bank and paused. He looked over to Paul who came behind the boys. “You want this piece of junk so bad?” David taunted. He tossed it over their heads to Paul. “Then come get it.”
Dewy shoved the bleach blonde backwards. David took a short stumble back and scanned the surroundings. The boys turned to Paul who stood his ground with the necklace held over his head.
No watchful eyes. The coast was clear. Go. Feast.
Marko and Dwayne were quick to swoop in from the shadows. Paul threw the chain to the ground before latching onto one of the teens.
The three vampires tore the boys apart before they could make a sound. David kept a few steps back to watch his pack feed. The scent of blood forced his fangs to slide out. His stomach cramped in hunger, but he kept his distance. Marko pulled at one of the boys, trying to get more than his fair fill. Dwayne and Paul shared a glance but they tugged the second boy closer to them.
David turned away from the carnage to get away from the blood. When the boys were finished they washed up in the river. Marko splashed Paul with some of the water, causing the two of them to start wrestling playfully.
“Aren’t you going to eat?” Dwayne whispered to David softly.
David glanced over to the playing blondes. He exhaled. “I’ll grab a snack later. You’ve seen how Marko gets when he’s still hungry. I can handle my hunger.”
“That’s fair,” Dwayne commented.
David let the dark haired vampire break the two fighting blondes apart while he turned his attention to the bodies. He scooped them up easily and admired the work that his boys did. Teeth and claw marks all over their bodies. David grabbed at Dewy’s arm with his teeth trying to get a taste of his blood. There wasn’t much left, but he managed to get a couple swallows in. He took to the sky and dumped the bodies into the ocean.
He rejoined the other vampires on the boardwalk. The three of them anxiously waited for their leader to return. The second he did, Paul headbutted the bleach blonde playfully. David grunted and Marko gave the taller vampire a smack. The two of them started nudging each other until David clicked his tongue for them to cut it out.
“David, can we go back to the arcade?” Marko begged.
“Got no money for arcade tonight, boys,” he replied. “Why don't you and Paul put those quick fingers to work and snatch some cash, hm? Bring me back a pack of cigs.” The blonde vampires playfully saluted their leader before charging off into the sea of people. “How's Veronica?” He asked to his last companion.
Dwayne shrugged. “Haven't seen her in a week or so. Not since Tony showed up not long ago.”
“Put them on the menu for tomorrow,” David ordered. “Get an idea for where they'll be.”
Dwayne nodded. “You want to come with?” He offered.
David pulled out a cigarette and lit it carefully. “I wish, but I have to meet with Max. We'll all catch up at the bikes later. We'll need to fuel up and then we can get back to the nest. Hopefully the blonde terrors can get a good stash tonight. We could use the money.”
Dwayne gently put his hand on David's shoulder. David leaned into the touch to show his appreciation. “I'll bring you home something to eat,” he promised. David gave him a warm smile. He trusted Dwayne picking something safe for him. Dwayne was always his rock. The man could steady David through any storm. “Got my eye on this kid down by the docks. No family. No friends. Real loner.”
“You're quite the hunter,” David praised. “Tell you what. Let me finish up with Max and then I'll meet you by the docks. We can grab the kid and then stalk Veronica.”
David made quick work of his chores knowing that he'd get something to eat when he was finished. As Max's oldest boy, David took the role of being second in command. He met with Max regularly to discuss the town and what plans they had for it. Max wanted to expand his reach into the local government whereas David wanted more freedom. Max didn't mind what the boys did, as long as it kept the city on their toes, but didn't have the locals with torches and pitchforks searching for them. Max liked the uneasiness of the town. He could use fear to control the local population. And since David and his crew were the root of the fear that drove this town wild, Max had more control than anyone realized.
After their meeting, David returned to the docks to meet Dwayne. The poor man's boat dock, as the boys took to calling the smaller one, had fishing boats and was the main launch for canoes, kayaks, and other small boats. For the rich who had nice luxury boats, they were stored on a separate dock with security cameras and a regular patrolling guard.
But on this dock, a young boy sat at the edge of the dock. David had seen him before but sorted him into a “starvation” category on his menu. The boy was barely in his early teens, but clearly running on his own. Scars coated his visible skin showing signs of abuse over many years.
The boys didn't typically eat kids. Kids didn't have nearly as much blood as their adult counterparts. They weren't as filling and oftentimes would only result in angry parents. Of course during the off season all humans were game, size and age no longer mattered. But when the summer was full swing and thousands of new meat hit the streets each night, there was no need to feed on the young.
But tonight David's hunger was gnawing at him hard. The kid had no one to go home to. No one to love him. The vampire saw it more as a mercy killing.
Dwayne watched as his leader swooped down onto the child and quickly ended him. There was no fight. David knew when it was appropriate to play with his food and when he just had to go for the kill. When he was finished, the two vampires returned to their bikes to refuel and regroup with Paul and Marko.
David and Dwayne sat on their bikes in the parking lot as the blondes came barrelling from the boardwalk. David held his hand out as Marko dropped a pack of cigarettes in it. It wasn't a brand that he preferred, but it didn't matter when it was given to him. He examined the pack seeing that they must have lifted it from someone's pocket. “Good work boys,” he praised, resulting in a happy noise from the smallest.
“Got two hundred dollars today, David!” Paul bounced over to his bike excitedly.
David gave him a warm smile. “That's very good. Why don't you two grab some gas on the way back and meet Dwayne and I at the nest later? We're stalking tonight.”
“Can we come?” Marko pleaded. He gave David his big, puppy dog eyes.
David propped his wrists up on his handlebars. He liked having the younger two learn hunting skills, but they tended to get in the way. “If you want to do some stalking, why don't you two check out that motel on Edmund? Watch the residents and see if you can get a running list of who's there and who'd make a good meal.”
“Got it!” Paul cheered.
“Remember, it has to be low profile. Figure out their check out date so we can figure out when to grab them.” David started up his engine. “No snacking.”
The blondes, given their new orders, excitedly got onto their bikes and headed off to complete them. The motel on Edmund was a good mark for fresh blood, but it wasn't in the best shape so the place was never fully booked. Even with it's low prices, people liked to avoid it. It was a common motel to hide from one's spouse while hooking up, or a cheap place for drunken men to bring women they met at the bar. But every once and a while, a good meal would stay for a few days.
David pulled out of the parking lot with Dwayne at his side. They had to make sure dinner was still on for tomorrow.
Veronica lived outside of town. Dwayne had met her several times on the boardwalk. She was young and excited to get his attention. But it turned out she had a fiance. While Dwayne was looking for an easy mark, it got easier knowing that the fiance returned and was pissed at the situation. Tensions aside, the two lived together in a small home with next to no neighbors. Tony was her high school sweetheart, but she started to see other men on the side while Tony would go on “business trips”.
Tonight, neither were home. David and Dwayne parked their bikes down the street and flew to the house. David picked the back door open and they started pawing through the place. David only cared about finding a schedule or calendar that would have their plans safely jotted down. And it didn't take him long to find one. He found a small notebook at the kitchen table. “They're having dinner with some friends tonight,” he commented. “Must be out late.” He flipped through the handheld planner.
Dwayne stalked around the house. “Washer and dryer here,” he commented.
“Great, it's about time we did laundry,” David grumbled. He hated domestic duties, but when you're a stinky vampire you have to maintain a healthy relationship with hygiene to keep living alongside humans. “They've got no plans for tomorrow. We can swing by after dark.”
“Sounds good.” Dwayne continued to go through the house, examining all the knickknacks that he considered taking.
David left the planner on the table as he found it. “Let's go back.” He waited for Dwayne at the back door.
It took the brunette vampire an extra minute before he returned to his leader. In his hand was a little trinket. “What's this?” He asked, passing it to David.
The bleach blonde took the spherical trinket from him and examined it. “No idea.” He couldn't read the engraved words on the little bell-like thing. David played with it in between his fingers before sliding it into his pocket.
The two vampires turned back to their bikes and began to head home. They took the winding back roads at a speed no human should. The two teased each other with a little race.
Nothing got them more competitive than a race.
David swerved onto a side road, cranking up his speed to try and cut off Dwayne up ahead. Adrenaline raced through his body as the boys couldn't see each other and tell who was winning. David didn't want to lose. He was the leader and he had to prove his mettle.
He popped back up onto the main road. Dwayne wasn't ahead of him, though he could hear the engine of the other bike. He turned his head over his shoulder, barely seeing the headlight of his companion through the winding trees.
He looked behind him for a fraction of a second too long. He snapped his attention back in front of him when movement caught his eye.
Movement from an SUV.
The vampire was blinded by the headlights of the vehicle. His vampire eyes were too sensitive to such lights in the darkness. His entire world went bright white. He was so overwhelmed with the race that he hadn't heard the sound of the car coming towards him. He tried to close his eyes and use his other senses, but it was too late.
He instinctively swerved, but the SUV collided with his back tire. The vampire was thrown from his bike, crashing down onto the asphalt. For any human it would have been severed limbs and instant death.
David couldn't feel anything, but he knew he wasn't dead. He wanted to open his eyes and get up, but he couldn't feel where his arms were. He knew for certain he hit his head and that his senses were gone for a duration of time. The only thing he could do was lay there and wait. There was no pain though. Maybe it was shock but he knew that consciousness was slipping away and fast.
Been thinking about modern AU Elementary School Librarian!Eddie and Substitute Teacher!Steve.
Eddie, who doesn’t really know how he ended up working at the school. A series of events that made him luck out, he supposed. He had always loved books, and practically lived at the public library in between working at the shop and sleeping. He had gotten to know the librarians there over time, had familiarized himself with the Dewey Decimal System from browsing the aisles, and had begun to explore different genres of books after finishing his sci-fi/fantasy bucket list. One evening, while he was curled up on one of the couches in the corner, re-reading The Hobbit for the hundredth time, a little girl with fire-red hair and her front two teeth missing ran up to him and begged him to read to her. He had glanced around the room for a moment, searching for the girl’s parent, but came up with nothing. At a loss, he decided he might as well read to her.
They got through three books that the girl- Max, she had said her name was- had picked out. By the end of his time reading to her, a small group of kids had crowded around him, and a couple of parents were on the outskirts of the makeshift circle smiling at him, clearly pleased that their kids were enjoying “story time”. One of the librarians noticed too, apparently. As Eddie was leaving to walk back to his apartment that night, he was slid a printed-out job posting for the librarian at the elementary school. Eddie never really saw himself as a ‘kids’ guy, but reading to them had been the highlight of his day, and they had all said he’d done the voices well… maybe this would be a good thing. Certainly better than the muscle strain he had almost daily from fixing cars.
So he submitted a resume. He got a letter of recommendation from the librarian who slid him the job posting, and somehow, even without having any certification past his High School Diploma, he landed an interview. They had been desperate, apparently. It was a tiny school in their tiny town and they needed someone to fill in. After only fifteen minutes, he got offered the job- pending results of a four week job shadow with the retiring librarian they were trying to replace and background checks. Two months later and he had become a well-established faculty member at the school, ‘Mr. M’, who did the best monster voices (according to the kids), decorated the library to make it look like it was out of a fairytale (with the help of the art teacher and his now-best-friend Robin Buckley), and even filled in for the music teacher on occasion. It was the best thing to ever happen to him.
Roughly three years after he was hired, he finds one of his lunch breaks being interrupted by Mrs. Harrington’s 3rd grade class. She had always been a bit of a bitch, but she never operated off-schedule. Eddie put his lunch away and observed as the kids flooded into the library and ran around, all finding a book to read or an activity to quietly play with. Will Byers (one of his favorite kids- not that he had favorites, but he totally did) ran up to him, holding watercolor markers and giving him puppy dog eyes. Eddie sighed and rolled up his sleeve, then helped Will sit on his desk so he could reach Eddie’s arm better. Will had asked about Eddie’s tattoos at the beginning of the year, wondering why there wasn’t any color on some of them, and then had been determined to color them in. And Eddie? Well, he couldn’t say no to the kid. Plus it was pretty adorable to have his ‘metal’ tattoos covered in washable marker.
“Will! Did he say you could do that?” Eddie looked up at the exclamation, surprised to come face-to-face with somebody who was definitely not Mrs. Harrington.
“Wait- who are you? Do I need to get the security guard?”
“What? No- no, I’m Mrs. Harrington’s substitute. They sent an email out about me I think? I’m- her son, actually. But you can just call me Steve. Or- probably Mr. Steve in front of the kids? I’m still kind of new at this- my mom called me last week and said she needed to stop teaching for a while because she needed to go on my dad’s business trips with him, she’s always been a bit suspicious of what he really does on the trip, and since I just got my teaching certification she figured it would be best for me too be her substitute- and shi-oot, shoot, I’m totally over sharing right now- it’s just the kids begged me to come here and they weren’t doing our math activity so I kinda panicked-“
“Whoa, alright, slow down big boy.” Eddie chuckled under his breath, then grabbed a sticky note and a pen with his free hand and scrawled out his number. Once he was done he handed it to Steve with a smirk. “I’m absolutely terrible at checking my email. So there ya go- the first number is for my cell- teaching these rascals can be a handful, especially with Henderson and Mayfield in your class, so feel free to text me anytime. We can talk about school or… other things.” Eddie let his eyes take in the man in front of him- and damn, this guy was hot.
Steve blushed, stuttering as he spoke. “A-and the second?” Oh shit, he wasn’t just hot, he was cute too. Eddie suddenly wanted to make Steve this flustered all the time.
“Second number is my extension for the phones here, if the kids get to be too much I can come down the hall for a visit and get them focused while you take a break. They have library time on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1pm to 2:30pm.” Eddie smiled at him, softer this time. “I’m sure you’re doing a great job. They’re just antsy because of the change- but I think they’d like anybody more than your mom- um, no offense.”
“None taken, she’s a bitc- um, a not super nice lady.” Steve coughed, smiling nervously. “Still getting used to kid-friendly language.”
Eddie shook his head fondly. This was certainly the start of something very interesting.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
ever since you and maki were born, the two of you had been inseparable. your parents were best friends, so undeniably the two of you were best friends too. you grew up in the same town, in the same neighborhood, lived close to each other, and were even playmates.
then, the two of you started school together. you were always in the same class and got to spend every day with each other. there was never a dull moment between the two of you. you helped each other study, went to school activities together, and always cheered for one another. and although you had other friends, at the end of the day, you two always went to each other.
some people questioned how the two of you had met. you were quite the opposites at first glance, maki was a bright and enthusiastic boy who made friends with almost everyone and had little to no trouble talking with others, meanwhile, you were more quiet and awkward, preferring to stay with a smaller group of friends or in your bubble. your opposite characteristics completed each other well though, which ultimately brought you two together and made you close.
another thing people questioned was whether the two were dating. it seemed like a normal question and you heard it often. you couldn't really blame them, sometimes you might have done things that made others perceive you as a couple. and you two always denied it, explaining that you were just close friends, but sometimes you wished you didn't have to answer like that.
not liking maki was impossible. he was kind and friendly, always took care of you, made you laugh, and made you happy. he was affectionate and cute, hardworking and talented. he gave you his attention and always reminded you how much he appreciated you, so what wasn't there to love about him? and so eventually, your platonic feelings turned romantic.
you never really told him, just like it always happens between two people who are friends and one likes the other, you didn't want to ruin what the two of you had. you didn't know if he liked you back, and you couldn't put all your hopes on a maybe. even when you tried to hint it, or asked your friends to do so, he'd always give short answers or dismiss the topic in general.
now here you were, thinking about the whole situation while skimming through a book in the library. your project partner was writing in their notebook. you had little care about the content of the book, the blurred lines didn't really matter because the book had no information you were looking for. you opened another book that was stacked in the pile you had picked before, let out a sigh and decided to focus a bit more on the text. you were quickly interrupted when a familiar voice rang in your ears, startling you.
"hey yn! i have to stay a little later for basketball today, can you wait for me?" maki's hair was slightly messy, his jacket was missing and his tie was undone. he was probably getting changed before he came to the library. his face was close to yours and you admired his delicate features. his pretty brown eyes, cute nose, pinkish lips and moles. he always looked so pretty, you couldn't help but blush.
"yeah i can wait. i'll come to the gym after i finish here." you said, giving him an awkward smile while your heart was beating fast. his presence alone could make butterflies erupt in your stomach. maki gave you a small smile before thanking you and leaving. you turned your gaze to the girl in front of you, she had a small grin on her face as she watched maki leave.
"you two make such a nice couple! i wish i could have something like that..." she said resting her head on her palms with a pout on her face. you scratched the back of your head awkwardly before speaking up.
"we're not really a couple, we're just friends." you wished you didn't have to say that. it broke your heart but there was no time to think too much about it because the girl had to make you feel worst with her next sentence.
"well, you two would make a very cute pair! anyway, we should finish this." she pointed at the books before continuing to write notes again. you wanted to pull your hair out of frustration. you would make a cute couple if you had the courage to even confess.
time passed by slowly, and you let out a sigh of relief when you were finished. you said goodbye to the girl before swinging your bag on your shoulder and speed-walking to the gym. soon your ears were filled with the sound of basketballs hitting the floor and boys chatting. you peeked in the room, your eyes falling on maki who looked gorgeous, even though he was sweaty and out of breath. when he saw you, he grinned brightly and walked your way.
"yn come sit at the bleachers! i promise you we won't stay for long." he reassured you as you sat down. you didn't mind waiting as long as you got to see maki play. he always looked so good, and he was an amazing player too. time seemed to fly by fast when you were enjoying it, and before you knew it you were walking hand in hand with maki outside the school grounds.
you looked at your intertwined fingers, lost in thought. maki was talking about his project, how his work was going and all that. then he stopped, making you look at him.
"hey, you want to ask me something?" he could read right through you. you let out a little huff before raising the hand that was holding his.
"does it bother you when people ask if we're a couple or not?" maybe you shouldn't be doing this. maybe you should. it was too late to turn back now. maki stood in silence for a little, thinking. he didn't know what to say. he didn't want to say something wrong that would upset you.
"i mean... should it? they can assume whatever they want, as long as we know what we are then it doesn't matter to me!" he brightly said, giving your hand a squeeze as you walk. you weren't satisfied with his typical vague answers, so you decided to push him.
"so then what are we, to you?" you asked, making him stop in his tracks. he looked into your eyes, a faint shade of red-coated his cheeks but you could see it. did you have to ask that question, he thought. he had pushed talking about his feelings to you by avoiding a situation like this all in general, but it seemed that today he couldn't do something like that.
he wanted to move closer, tell you how he felt about you. how you made him happy, how you kept him grounded, how your mere presence was enough to make his day better. he wanted to tell you what an amazing person you were, how considerate and smart and pretty and special you were that he had fallen for you. and yet, he was too scared to risk it. every day he thought of telling you how he really felt, but he didn't want to ruin what you had. he hated the thought of not being able to be close to you anymore.
"well, i guess we're best friends, if that's what you want us to be." his voice was a mumble, like it hurt him to say those words because it did. he noticed a frown on your face. you ran your free hand through your hair.
"no actually, i don't want us to be just friends. you know, i've been hiding this for a while now but i'm tired! i like you maki! i like you more than just friends. i don't know if you feel the same but i really need to get this off my chest as it's been driving me crazy! this might change things between us, and it probably will but-" before you could finish your declaration of love for the boy, you felt maki's lips on top of yours.
he squeezed your hand while his free hand was now resting on your waist. his eyes were closed and it didn't take long for you to melt in the kiss and close your eyes too. everything felt soft and warm. his lips, his hands, his skin. you placed a hand on his cheek, feeling your heart beat fast and your ears turn red. at this point, you were sure he could hear your heartbeat too. you wished the kiss lasted longer, after he pulled away you were left shocked. you did not expect him to do that.
"i like you too. a lot, but i'm glad you made the first move by telling me." he gave you another one of his sweet smiles, meanwhile you just stared at him in shock.
"i made the first move? you just kissed me! maki are you serious?!" you ran your fingers through your hair again, freaking out that this was happening between the two of you. of course, you had imagined and even dreamed about it as embarrassing as it sounded but now that it happened, well, you were left speechless. maki was laughing at how cute you looked, he couldn't help it he was very happy to have something happening between the two of you.
"hey i'm sorry if that wasn't really what you wanted but i didn't know what else to do." he said, pulling you closer to him and swinging your arm back and forth. a small chuckle escaped your lips.
"that's not it... so, are we a couple now?" you asked with sparkling eyes which made him even happier. you looked so pretty he could kiss your face everywhere but he resisted the urge to do that.
"yes we are! you know you're stuck with me right?" he said, playfully raising a brow and nudging your shoulder. you let out a light chuckle before responding.
"i don't mind being stuck with you forever." you two walked home that day happier than ever. hands swinging back and forth, the sound of sweet laughter filling the air. you two were tangled in love, stuck with each other from the glue.
You had met Robin in your French class in your junior year. You had found her to be the most stunning girl in the entirety of Hawkins High, and in an ideal world, you would’ve been asking her out in the middle of the damn hallway.
But… it was 1985, and you could’ve been ostracised, hurt, or even killed by another student or teacher if you even attempted to do so.
However, luckily for you, privacy was something that could be maintained. You successfully asked Robin out in a secluded area of Lover’s Lake extremely late at night, and to your delight, she said yes.
And for the past two months, you and Robin had been happily seeing each other in your own time. Whereas you would’ve loved to have publicly showed off your girlfriend like any of the other couples around Hawkins did, some a little too much, you still found comfort in the dates you organised in your bedroom or a nice, private spot during early hours of the morning.
However, your ultimate dream was to escape to the city. New York, LA, San Francisco, anywhere where you could go to a gay bar and just find like-minded people. Maybe there were more gay people in Hawkins, but how would you ever come to find out?
You loved this town, you grew up in this town and made so many memories here, but it just wasn’t safe for your future. Nowhere was really, but at least the cities had a community. Here? It was just you and Robin against everyone else. Against every other likely homophobic asshole that graced these streets.
Tumblr media
You were sat at one of the lunch tables, patiently waiting for your girlfriend to join you from her Biology class. Unfortunately for you, it seems as if Robin’s class had been let out later than usual, so you had to grab a table before they were all taken, and that table just so happened to be to the right of Jason Carver’s designated spot. It wasn’t even designated, but everyone in the school was too goddamn scared, or simply agreed that that space was now his.
And just like always, he was being an absolute nightmare.
The daily Eddie Munson vs. Jason Carver shenanigans had already taken place, and since Jason’s table was obnoxiously loud about their talking points, you were subject to every word they would utter throughout the rest of the lunch period.
You spotted your girlfriend entering the cafeteria, giving her a huge grin and a wave, to which she returned, grabbing a tray and lining up in the lunch queue.
Your worries had settled for a few moments, glad that Robin was safe and healthy, but, that’s when Jason’s conversation definitely caught your ear.
“Dude, apparently one of the local dykes around here raped a teenage girl a few weeks ago.”
The whole table erupted into a roar of laughter at one of the other jock’s words, you purposefully holding back your tears. Not only were they being extremely homophobic, but they were laughing about a girl in her age category getting hurt. Gay or not, how could you even joke about that kind of thing? It’s so vile.
“Not even shocking, man. You know, if I saw one of them lesbians around here, I would be the first person to take them out. My dad owns a few guns, I could easily shoot them down from a mile away.”
That level of violence from Jason made you instantly terrified for your life. You were lucky you presented feminine, so everybody assumed you were into men, but what if he caught you and Robin in your safe space at Lover’s Lake? You could be shot dead and he could justify it with some horrible accusation of pedophilia.
And you couldn’t out Robin like that, no way. Her parents already spouted the same-old religious, homophobic talking points. She was already considered a ‘band geek,’ you couldn’t outcast her more than that and put her life in danger.
You had to go. You couldn’t do this to her. No way in hell.
Retrieving your bag from under the table, you step out, leaving your half-eaten lunch tray on the table as you quickly walked out of the cafeteria and to the parking lot.
Tears were blurring your vision as you drove through the misty rain, unsure of which was blocking your line of sight at what point, the two fading into one. The melancholy of the atmosphere continued as you parked in your driveway, throwing off your seatbelt, and bolting into your bedroom.
Your parents were fortunately at work, the loud clamoring of clothes being tossed around your bedroom echoing through the four corners of your house, your body frantically searching for everything you may need.
You need to get out. You couldn’t stay here any longer.
You were about to throw your journal in with your unorganised, messy clothes, when a sudden thought struck your mind. No matter how much you wanted to escape the world you lived in, you couldn’t leave your love like this. Robin deserved some form of closure.
So, ripping a page scruffily from your notebook, the edges uneven and jagged, you collected the closest pen from your bedside table and ripped the cap off with your teeth.
Your handwriting was scruffy, almost unintelligible as you poured your heart and soul onto the page. Small droplets were staining the page, smudging the ink and creating little tears in the thin material. It was chaotic and tangled, but it needed to be done.
Once finished, the journal itself, along with a few of your stationery items, were shoved into the suitcase, the letter folded in half as it was placed at the top of your rucksack, just above the cassettes and books.
Towing your suitcase behind you, rucksack hanging off one shoulder, you made your way back out into the torturous heavy rain. Luckily for you, Robin only lived a ten-minute walk away from your house, and since it was only 1:30pm, assuming she hadn’t rushed home out of worry for your wellbeing, you could open her bedroom window and slip the note onto her bed.
You felt bad for leaving her like this, but it was the best thing for both of you. You would never live a peaceful life if you willingly put your girlfriend in danger. Even worse if she got physically hurt.
This wasn’t just exclusive to Jason’s group of hooligans. They were terrifying enough, but what about the rednecks and rich, snobby business owners who would shoot you on sight? Who you definitely couldn’t put up a fight with?
If you wanted to live a sapphic life, you needed to do that in a somewhat safer place. And that place was definitely not Hawkins.
Tumblr media
Robin’s worries had been flying high ever since she saw that lonely half-eaten lunch tray reminiscing in the absence of you. She had to eat lunch alone for the first time in forever, and it was honestly torture without your presence around her.
As soon as that last bell rung signalling the end of the school day, she was out in a flash, shoving all of her books in her bag, not even bothering to switch anything out in her locker. She could organise that tomorrow. She needed to find you. And she needed to do it quickly.
The moment she noticed your car had disappeared, she was hopping right onto the school bus, praying that the journey would be fast, at least fast in her mind. She couldn’t let her concerns invade her brain much longer.
She practically sprinted into her bedroom, only saying a quick “Hi!” to her mom as she burst into the room.
Her plan was to head to the phone, immediately dialing your home phone number and impatiently waiting for you to answer on the other end.
But, the note was impossible not to spot. She knew it wasn’t hers. She keeps everything in her journal nice and neat.
She was nervous as hell, carefully picking up the piece of paper between her dampened fingertips and lifting up the top, revealing your disordered handwriting.
“Hi, my love.
These last few months have truly been amazing with you, but I really can’t be with you any longer.
This has nothing to do with you, and everything to do with me. I just need some time to myself to clear my thoughts, and I don’t think having this many burdens on my shoulder is helping our relationship in any way.
I’m sorry for putting all of this on you like this, and I’m sorry for being so much of a fucking coward not to say this to your face. I hate to have to end things like this.
I’m sorry, and I hope you find someone who is good for you one day.
Your Y/N.”
Robin couldn’t believe what she had just read. Did you really think that your problems were causing harm to her? She would listen to you talk and ramble for hours on end about anything from a life-changing major event, to a minor thing that ticked you off at school. In no way were you causing her life harm. If anything, she would happily sacrifice her own problems for yours. You were the most important thing in the world to her.
She couldn’t end the relationship like this. She didn’t want to end the relationship at all.
She needed to find you. She would search to the ends of the Earth to find you.
Shoving the note in her back pocket, she left the room she only entered a few minutes ago. It was her mission to find you. With a quick, panicked yell of “I’m heading to Y/N’s!” to her mom, Robin was dashing back out the front door with her bike helmet and riding off down the street.
She was not letting you go. She was gonna talk about this with you. She was going to find out what was truly wrong.
Tumblr media
Robin felt as if she checked everywhere. She tried your house, Lover’s Lake, even the goddamn mall, yet you weren’t there.
Her worries were increasing, and she needed to find you fast, making sure you weren’t hurting yourself in any way.
The main roads in Hawkins seemed to be getting busier and busier as the end of the work day came ahead, so she decided to use one of the quieter routes to get back to her house. It was a dumb thought process, but she was just going to keep calling and calling when she got back home in hopes that even by the 100th ring, you would pick up and speak to her with that gorgeous voice of yours.
She was carefully riding down the road, trying not to let any of her emotions visibly show. She wasn’t that great of a rider, she couldn’t risk falling off her bike and scraping up her knees again.
But, that is when she saw you. You were cuddled up in a ball on the bus stop bench, the lack of shelter meaning your rain jacket was soaked through, your body practically shivering in the cold February rain. Beside you was your purple suitcase, seemingly packed to the brim, and your rucksack sat perched on your lap, desperately attempting to protect you from the harsh weather.
Robin basically fell off her bike, letting it crash to the ground, the wheels still spinning as she yelled, “Baby! Oh my God, are you okay?”
She tried to reach out for you, but your body immediately flinched away from her, your wrinkled fingers hugging your knees closer to your chest. It was now that Robin could see the stains of your teardrops creating violent patterns through your foundation, making themselves known to anyone who had access.
“Why are you crying, honey? What’s the matter?”
You remained silent, a few echoes of cries escaping your lungs, many sniffles seeking to recover from the intense emotion.
Robin felt as if she had no choice, reaching for the piece of paper that was in her back jean pocket, now a soaked mess from where the downpour had attacked her clothing.
“What is this?” she questioned, holding it in your line of sight, knowing that you could see it in your peripheral, “Why are you trying to escape me, baby?”
A few moments of silence pass, before a low whisper states: “I just can’t be with you anymore.”
Robin feels her mouth become instantly dry. What does that mean? Were you telling the truth in the letter? You couldn’t be… No way…
“Why not?” she delves deeper, “Because what you said in the letter doesn’t bother me at all, baby. I would listen to every worry on your mind. Don’t think you’re ever a burden to me, my love—”
“I just can’t be with you, okay?!”
The sudden outburst makes Robin’s heart break, but not more than the sound of the bus approaching, and you seemingly gathering up your things to flag it down.
Not even thinking, Robin grabs your jacket sleeve, almost touching her fingers to your palm, “Honey, wait a second.”
“Let go!” you yell in total fear. There were likely people on that bus, and obviously the driver. Why was she being so risky? You were gonna get her killed.
Robin’s eyes begin to well up, your sudden emotion really striking her off guard, “Talk to me, baby. Please! I can’t lose you!”
“I’m gonna get you killed!”
Robin’s stunned, lost for words. As if subconsciously, she waves her hand for the bus driver to continue on, not stopping for you. She doesn’t care if that was your plan, you obviously weren’t thinking logically and you were both emotionally and physically overwhelmed.
“What do you mean?” she says softly, almost at a whisper.
You sigh, using your sleeve to wipe away the tears before Robin could reach her own hands out to catch them herself, “A-At lunch today… Jason’s table were talking about a lesbian around here raping a minor. A-And of course that’s wrong if it’s true, but it’s what he said he would do to people like us which scared me…”
Robin shows a slight nod, encouraging you lovingly to continue, “H-He said he would hurt us. Attack us with his dad’s gun. K-Kill us. And I just thought about him or another person around here finding us at Lover’s Lake at night and me having no way to protect you, a-and I just couldn’t handle that, so I wanted to run away…”
Robin was about to reply, but you interrupted her once more, “Sorry, I just— I don’t think I can do that to you. I can’t put you in danger any more. I can’t change the fact that I am a lesbian and neither can you, but I can actively decide our fates. And I want you to live a happy and fulfilling life in the future.”
“But honey… I’m living that happy and fulfilling life right now,” Robin admits, taking a deep breath, “I love you.”
You shake your head, “You can’t! I’m gonna end up getting you hurt! You deserve to be safe!”
“I feel safe when I’m with you! Before I met you, I was scared more than ever!” Robin begins to raise her voice in pain and anguish, “And now, you make me feel so much safer, because you give me hope that everything is going to be okay someday. Yes, we may need to hide now, but in two years, I promise you we will be in a safer place, baby.”
“But what about Jason and the other homophobes around here? What if they hurt us?” you question in distress.
“Baby, I’d rather die tomorrow with you in my arms than die alone at ninety knowing that I let you go as a goddamn teenager.”
You slowly start coming to your senses, nodding as the tears continue to fall. You close your eyes as Robin checks her surroundings, before she cups your face and leans her forehead against yours.
“I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry, my love.”
“It’s okay, baby,” Robin whispers softly, “I love you. Two more years, okay? Just two more years of completely hiding.”
You nod, smiling weakly, “I love you too. Two years…”
My muse was unexpectedly kidnapped, and was never able to be found. A year later, your muse comes across an old abandoned building, and finds my muse tied up, wounded, and barely alive. What is your muse's reaction?
@dramatisperscnae
Tim missed Gotham. His Dad Jack. Call him Jack. That monster isn't his Dad anymore had sort of... snapped a while back how long has it been now? Time isn't real anymore and pulled Tim out of school, sold their town house in Bristol and just. Left. He was fairly sure they left the State but he wasn't sure where they ended up. Tim wasn't allowed to know. He spent the entire ride asleep against his will. His room had a skylight so he could see the sky and get vitamin D from the sun but it didn't open and Tim couldn't reach it. He had a couple of windows too but they were high up on the wall, too high for him to reach and only showed him sky and the very tops of what could either be trees or hills. He definitely wasn't in a city, he could say that much.
His door was locked, as always. Dad Jack kept the key somewhere; upstairs in the main house probably or on his person. Tim was pretty sure he'd been up there? For meeting the neighbours and other guests? Maybe? It was hard to say. He was in a constant haze of drowsiness these days, it slowed his mind down in a way he despised because it meant he couldn't form a plan of escape, couldn't keep track of what he was seeing or even what day it was. The only method of time keeping he had was the passing sunlight and Dad Jack! He's not Dad anymore! The more I call him Dad, the closer I am to giving in entirely! stopping by with his food. His empty dinner tray was on his desk.
His room wasn't empty, far from it. Plenty of room to move around and stretch, build legos on his carpeted floor, a big comfy bed, a big fancy desk for studying and doing his online classes. Heavily monitored of course. If he even started typing anything that wasn't approved, Jack would knock him out. Sleeping gas usually. Mostly to avoid drugging him more than he already was. Tim had tried figuring out which of his various medications was responsible; he didn't wasn't allowed to leave his prison room so took various vitamins and other things to make sure he was getting the nutrients he needed. Which wasn't enough because Tim had long since lost the muscle tone of being Robin. Which sucked because he'd been pretty proud of that.
Tim shifted on his bed, the oranges and pinks he could see through his skylight told him it was sunset. May as well get comfy. He didn't exactly have anything else to do. He rolled onto his side, the cuff and long chain around his ankle didn't bother him anymore. It was long enough to allow him to comfortably move around in his sleep and walk freely around his room. Couldn't quite reach his door though.
Hazy ice blue eyes blinked slowly as he took in the figure before him.
"Oh. This hallucination again. Or lucid dream? I can't tell the difference anymore. I'd say your name out loud but I'm pretty sure my Dad is listening and I don't feel like losing more time as punishment for not agreeing with him. Not so soon after last time." He yawned. "What are we talking about tonight?"
Love me when I wake up
Tumblr media
Summary: You, Dean and Sam go on a hunt not too far away from bunker and feelings are revealed.
Warnings: A little angst, threats to harm one self, fluff, some scary themes.
Pairings: Dean x reader
Wordcount: 6400
------
You stirred lightly blinking open your eyes knowing you woke up before your alarm went off. Again. You grabbed your phone from the side table and yup, you were right. Two minutes before your alarm would go off. You disabled your alarm, tossed the phone back on the side table and turned back and stared at the ceiling thinking how sleep after sleep your life was the same. Same old bed, same old dark room, same old cold bunker, same old day-after-day wishing Dean was yours. You sighed.
You slowly got up from the bed stretching your toes and cracking a few knuckles. You were never a morning person, but you made it your discipline to stick to a routine when you first moved to the bunker. You finished your morning routine and walked into the kitchen. Sam was already up and back from his run. You rolled your eyes almost jealous how he was able to go run so early in the morning. You walked over to the coffee machine to turn it on with a grunt. This old damn machine. You need to get a new one.
“Well good morning sunshine! You know I don’t bite if you greet me in the morning, right?”
You grunted a little “Shut up Sam. You drink your green juice and don’t bother me till I have finished my first cup of coffee.”
Sam chuckled a little and proceeded to start making the breakfast for all. You perked up a little when Dean slowly walked in to the kitchen. He was in his robe and those damn short shorts. His fluffy hair sticking in all directions and rubbing the sleep out of his eyes with a small frown on his lips. Anyone who saw him now would never believe he hunts monsters for a living and that he is the big scary Dean Winchester that the hunter world fears.
You giggled a little at his antics and that made Sam turnaround. He gave you a knowing look. He knew you always were a little happier when Dean was around and he knew why. He just played dumb hoping you would tell Dean how you feel sooner than later.
“Ah! Fresh hot coffee. Thanks sweetheart.” Dean spoke as he poured himself a cup of coffee.
“You know Dean, I could have made the coffee. Not Y/N. Where is my thank you?”
“Dude, I know for a fact you didn’t make the coffee. For one you prefer drinking water. And B, you make the stupid green stuff in the morning, not coffee.” He turned to you with a smile “So thanks sweetheart.”
You blushed a little covering your face with the cup and mumbled “Not a problem Dean.”
Sam smirked and you knew he caught you blushing. You just prayed that Dean didn’t see you blush. You cleared your throat and looked at Sam and asked “So anything that caught your attention in the news?”
“Actually yes, let us finish breakfast and I’ll grab my laptop.” Dean looked at you with an expression that said “Really?” You shrugged your shoulders a little and replied “Sorry.” You guys just got back from a hunt, but you cannot afford to take a day off, right?
After the three of you scarfed down the breakfast and Sam got his laptop. You were nursing your third cup of coffee when Sam started speaking.
“So, get this, there is a town not far from here. Colby. Missing persons. Three students who attend the Colby Community College. They are a part of an astronomy observatory club and were not heard of after attending a star party that was set up in one of the open fields a little far away from the town.”
“Star Party? What is that? A rave with drugs?” Dean asked.
You giggled and replied “No Dean. Star parties are a gathering when students, mostly astronomy amateurs, get together and do a little star gazing. Observe different objects in the sky.”
Dean was proud of her. She is a little know-it-all, but it made his heart swell when she explained things to him without mocking him. “Now how do you know that little missy?”
“I took a couple of Astronomy classes in college for my science electives and we used to have star parties all the time. It was fun way to get some extra credit and observe planets and stars even closer.”
“That sounds fun. Maybe you can take me to one someday.” Dean replied with a big smile on his face.
“Absolutely Dean! I can look up astronomy clubs in Lebanon and see if they have star parties open to public.”
Sam cleared his throat and said “If you both are done planning your date, can we get back to the case?” He knew what he was doing.
Your face flushed and you were thoroughly embarrassed.
“Shut up Sammy. It is not a date.” Dean replied immediately in a sharp tone.
Well, that hurt.
Sam felt bad and changed the topic. “Okay. So the local police say that all the equipment and the set up was still there and there was no trace of the three students the next day. No fingerprints. No blood. Nothing that indicates foul play at the site. If it was robbery gone bad, why would they leave the expensive telescopes, laptops and the students’ wallets there. This was about a week ago and they still haven’t had any new developments in the case. The victims’ parents are very concerned. They took to media and released statements asking for the safe return of their children.”
This made you sad. Parents should never experience the loss of their children.
“Were there any missing persons in the past in the area or are these the first?” Dean asked.
“There were three missing people about 18 years ago. The case turned cold after a year when the investigation leads nowhere. There are rumors that this could be related since there are so many connections. Three victims. Same age group. Missing near one of the open fields.”
“Well, that is good enough for me. Lets roll. Meet me in the garage in 30 mins.”
A little after the three of you were on the road. You had your nose buried in a book sitting in the backseat. You did not see the green eyes look at you from time to time in the rear-view mirror. Dean was always mesmerized by you. Especially when you were lost in a deep thought or reading a book. You would nibble a little on your lower lip and that certainly did things to him. He hoped it was him biting your lips and..
Someone clearing their throat snapped him out of his fantasy. He turned his head and saw Sam looking at him with a teasing smile. He knew he was caught.
“Shut up..” he grumbled lowly not to catch your attention.
Two hours later you reached Colby. Dean drove to one of the motels in the town and Sam went to check in and get the keys. In the meantime, you and Dean got your bags out and scouted out the locations to go to for the interviews. Sam and Dean got a room with two beds and you got another room with a single bed. You all quickly changed into your FBI suites and headed out. Dean and you dropped Sam off at the police station and drove to the community college. It was fast and easy to locate the astronomy club and you were talking to one the club members, Sara. She was visibly distraught not knowing what happened to her friends.
“Sara, do you know anyone who wanted to harm them?”
Sara sniffled and replied “No, they were all very friendly and nice people. The four of us got our acceptance letters from KSU not long ago. We wanted to finish this semester and start our fall in KSU.” She started sobbing at this point. You sat a little closer to her wrapped your arm around her shoulder to calm her down.
Dean was glad you were here. He would have not known what to do with a crying teenager.
“It is going to be okay Sara. Can I get a signup sheet for this star party?”
“There isn’t one. This wasn’t scheduled for a class or by the university. Somebody from town requested to have this setup.”
You and Dean looked at each other immediately knowing something was up.
“Do you know who is it?”
“No, it was setup in the last minute. Cindy, Matt and Steve are the usual organizers. They wanted to make some extra cash to help with the new semester and scheduled it.”
You knew immediately that this was a set up.
“Sara do the police know about this?”
“Yes, I told them when they interviewed me. I even called them up twice to ask if they figured out who set this up, but they said they spoke to them and they are ruled out as persons of interest.”
You called bullshit. Something was not right. You gave Dean another look and gave him a quick head nod knowing you need to talk to Sam.
“Thanks Sara. One of our partners is with the police now and interviewing them. We will figure out soon. Is there anything else we need to know?”
Sara looked down a little and shook her head.
“Sara, it is okay. You don’t have to hide anything from us.” Sara looked at Dean and you immediately understood. “Dean, would you mind giving us a minute? I’ll meet you in the car.”
Dean understood that Sara felt more comfortable talking to you. I mean who wouldn’t? Sara barely knows you both and she already feels safe enough to talk to you.
“Of course. I’ll be in the car.” He looked and you and you assured him with a smile that you will be fine. He walked over to the car and waited for you while shooting a quick text to Sam telling him about the interview with Sara and some things not adding up.
He looked up from his phone when his passenger door opened and you stepped in. You had a sad smile on your face and Dean frowned a little.
“Everything okay? Is it okay to ask what Sara wanted to talk to you in private?”
You turned and looked at him with the same sad smile and replied “Yeah, it just made sense why she is taking this pretty hard. Cindy and her have recently started dating and she is worried that she will never see the love of her life again. She was practically pleading me not to give up on this case since there weren’t any new leads. I told her not a chance in hell. I would be worried just the same if the person I love went missing.” You looked deeply into Dean eyes when you said that. After a few moments you realized what you said and the air got thicker suddenly. You cleared your throat and looked elsewhere and said “Have you talked to Sam? Any news from him?”
Dean dropped his gaze to his phone and said “Yeah, I texted him. Let’s pick him up from the police station and go back to the motel.”
After 30 minutes the three of you were back at the motel in your room sitting around the table eating and researching.
“We need to figure out who have requested to set up the private star party in the last minute. And why they were ruled out as a person of interest.” You spoke up munching on the fries.
“I asked for the list of people interviewed and there was never a mention about interviewing a person who set up the private star party. The list just included students, friends, few professors and the families.”
“That does not sound right. Sara said she was told that they interviewed the person who requested this and ruled them out as a suspect. Something does not add up. Either Sara is lying or someone at the station is not telling us everything. Why don’t you and Dean go back to the station and ask them about this and I’ll research a little more on the similar missing persons case from 18 years back. There must be a connection between these two.”
Dean straightened up a little and said “No way you are staying here by yourself. I’ll stay with you. Sam can go back to the station.”
“Don’t be ridiculous Dean. I am a big girl. I can defend myself. I am not going anywhere, just staying in my room doing research. I should be fine. Besides you both should go to the station this time. Use a little intimidation if you must and find out what is going on. I took Sara’s number earlier. I’ll give her a call as well.”
Dean reluctantly left you alone in the motel and drove to the station with Sam.
“She’ll be fine Dean. We will check in with her from time to time. Don’t worry.” Sam assured him.
“Yeah..” Dean mumbled, but something was telling him to turnaround the car and drive back to the motel. He decided to quickly finish up at the station and go back instead of facing your wrath for not listening to you. You might be tiny, but boy you were feisty.
Meanwhile, you continued doing research. There was not a lot of information about the case from 18 years ago on the internet. But you found an article where the assigned detective declared it as a cold case only after a year. That is not a long time for a case to get cold. You dialed the number that Sara gave you and it kept going to voicemail. It was getting dark outside and you didn’t like this. You tried a couple more times and decided to track her phone when she didn’t answer. After a few minutes you traced her phone to a location away from the town. Almost close to the site where Cindy, Matt and Steve went missing. You had to go there. You wanted to call Dean and tell him, but you knew he was going to drop everything and come back. You couldn’t risk that. You needed them to interview the policemen who are working on this case and find out what they are hiding. Against your better judgement you left a note for Dean and Sam about what you found and hot wired one of the cars in the parking lot and drove to where Sara’s phone last pinged.
-------
After a few hours at the station
What was supposed to be a quick chat turned into few hours. Dean and Sam very quickly found out that the captain was hiding something. He seemed nervous when they grilled him about who set up the private party and why they were ruled out. They spoke again with all the detectives involved and the findings of the case. None revealed who requested the private party. They seemed covering for their captain. They drove back to the motel only to find your room empty. Dean immediately started calling your phone and his worst nightmare came true. You phone was going to voicemail. Sam found the note you left and Dean was angry at this point. Angry at him for leaving you alone and angry at you for leaving and not checking with them.
“Dean I’m tracing her phone. Give me a few minutes we will find her.” Dean was pacing around the room still trying to get in contact with you. Meanwhile Sam continued the research where you left off. He made a connection. The current captain was the one hired 18 years ago to investigate the case. He was a new detective on the force back then. He recognized him from the pictures in the old article. It confirmed his suspicions that the Captain was hiding something and interfering with the current investigation. If he could have guessed, soon this would be declared a cold case too. His laptop finally pinged with your phone’s location. It matched the location you left for Sara. So, you did reach to the place.
“Dean I found here phone. She is at the same place as Sara’s.”
“Damn it!” Dean yelled and threw the tv remote against the wall.
Sam flinched a little. He knew how much Dean cared about you. How much he is already blaming himself.
“Let’s go Sam. She better not be hurt.”
-----
A few hours before
You parked the car you borrowed a little further away from the location where Sara’s phone pinged. It was a warehouse. You should have known nothing good comes out of this. Your hands were itching to call Dean and let him know, but your thoughts were thrown out the window when you heard someone scream. You rushed into the warehouse with your gun and no rational thoughts. You couldn’t afford to. It was apparent the warehouse was abandoned. It smelled of mold. You slowly made your way with your gun drawn and cautious. You knew back of your mind you were in for a talking from Dean and Sam for being this reckless. You heard the scream again and you turned around and ran towards the imminent danger. You quickly spotted a few old hospital beds and there were people on the beds connected to some sort if an IV bag. You soon realized they were blood bags and the people on the beds were the missing persons. You ran to them and started to check the pulse for all three. Luckily, they all had a pulse, but it was very faint. Now it was time to call Dean and Sam. You turned your phone on about to call Dean when everything went black.
------------
You woke up with a gasp and your eyes wide open. You were lying down in the most comfortable bed and everything around you were so bright. You were breathing deep and quick trying to figure out where you were. You wanted to get up, but found yourself pinned down. You followed the hand to see to whose it was. You gasped and your eyes were as wide as saucers.
It was Dean.
He had his arm wrapped around you and was sleeping with a soft smile on his face. You couldn’t stop staring at his face. His fluffy hair, those freckles dusted cheeks, no worry lines on his forehead, his soft lashes long and thick gently caressing his freckles and god those sinful lips. They were pink and full and so kissable. He never looked more peaceful. You were dismissed from your thoughts when he gently spoke up.
“It is rude to stare you know” Ah! He sounded so beautiful even though he sounded husky.
You didn’t know what to say. On one hand you were embarrassed that you were caught and on the other utterly confused why you were in the same bed as a very tempting, yet very naked Dean. Before you could say anything, Dean leaned over and planted a soft kiss on your lips.
“Good morning baby. Did you sleep well?” he asked. You still don’t know what is happening. You still couldn’t answer him and kept opening and closing your mouth like a fish. Dean laughed a little and hovered over you planting another kiss and saying “Never seen you speechless in the mornings. You okay babe? Need me to wake you up my way?” He grinned and wiggled his eyebrows. At the same time, you felt something hard rub against your thigh. You jolted out of your trance squeaking “No!” and quickly pushed Dean aside and jumped out of the bed. Then the cold hit you and it was only then you realized how naked you were. You grabbed the throw from the nearby chair and covered your body.
Dean looked hurt for a second and confused. He furrowed his brows slightly and pulled a bed sheet around his waist and sat up on the bed on his knees facing you.
“You okay honey? You look like you have seen a ghost.” You knew this was too good to be real. Your hunter mode kicked in and said “Where am I? Why are we in the same bed Dean?”
Dean furrowed his brows further. “What do you mean where you are babe? We are in our home. In Lawrence. And why wouldn’t we be in the same bed? That is what married people do. Are you okay Y/N/N? You are scaring me.”
Married? MARRIED?
You started pacing around the room. What does Dean mean we are married? You were trying to recollect the last thing you remembered. You were on a hunt with Sam and Dean. You had to find Sara and drove to the warehouse. You heard a scream. You found the missing people and you were about to call Dean and everything went blank. And then you woke up here. Naked. In bed. With Dean and you were married to him. What is going on?
You closed your eyes thinking it was a dream. You pinched yourself quickly to wake up. You opened your eyes only to see a pair of very worried green eyes staring back at you.
“Sweetheart, please sit down. Let me get you some water. Are you okay? Did you have a bad dream?” Dean asked worried.
You sat down in the accent chair close by and brought your left hand to your head while holding the throw to cover your modesty with your right. That is when something cold touched your face. You looked down and saw a gold band on your finger. You felt dizzy with everything going around you. Then a warm hand was placed on your cheek.
Dean had some pants on now while crouching to your level and held a glass of water to your mouth. You gulped a little all the while staring at him. He put the glass down and now held your face in both of his hands and rubbing your cheeks softly with his thumbs.
“Are you feeling better now sweetheart?” he asked with a smile.
You knew right away what was happening. You just knew. All of this is something you think about before going to sleep every night. Sometimes when you were lucky you would even dream about this. Your perfect life with Dean. You and him married. Waking up with kisses from him. This bedroom of your dreams, with so much light. No longer the dark cold bunker room.
It was a Djinn.
You are currently being drained out of your blood as you were playing house with Dean. It was only fair that you played along till you found a way to get out of this nightmare. Or was it a blessing? You shook your head and looked at Dean.
“Sorry baby. I think it was a bad dream and I was still having the after effects of it for a second.”
“Are you sure sweetheart?”
“Yeah, I am sure Dean.”
Dean pulled you in for a kiss. You eyes closed as you were savoring this moment. Guess you don’t have morning breath in a djinn’s dream apparently.
You pulled back and smiled at him. He pulled you up walked you to the bed and slowly took the throw away from your body and you let him. You stood there naked in front of him a little nervous, but more content. Dean brought one of his shirts and helped you in it. He pulled the covers back and you both got back into the bed.
“Well as much as I like seeing you in your birthday suite we need to cover up. They will be marching in here any time soon.”
You looked at him with a quizzical look. Even before you could ask him about what he was talking about the door of the bedroom opened a little forcefully than needed and you heard giggles.
“Daddy daddy! Can we make pancakes today? Pleeeeease?” a little girl maybe 3 years old, with hair almost identical to yours jumped on Dean and asked him with big bright green eyes.
“Mommy, Grandpa said he will come over and take us for donuts” a boy who was a copy of dean looked over at you calmly explaining the breakfast options. He was no older than 8. He slowly crawled up the bed and lied down between you and Dean and opened a comic book and started reading.
“Nooo! I want chocolate chip pancakes. Pleeeeease?” said the little girl again.
At this point you stopped being shocked. I mean this is what Djinns do right. Show you what you always wanted. You just had to play along. You cannot panic again. Not in front of these two beautiful, innocent kids.
“Diana, grandpa John wants to take you, Dax and your cousins out for donuts today. We talked about this last night, right?” Dean spoke to your daughter. Your daughter? That was so weird to think, yet so satisfying.
“But but…I dreamt about choco chip pancakes. Can I get them?”
Dean sighed. You knew he would very easily give into your daughter’s commands.
You spoke up softly “Baby how about you get donuts with grandpa and we can have pancakes for lunch? You don’t wanna make grandpa sad right?” You nodded your head.
Diana got up from Dean, crossed over your son and planted herself on you with a huff.
“Baby be careful with mommy. You can’t jump on her like you do on me. We talked about this.”
You waved a hand and dismissed Dean saying you were ok.
She thought over for a few seconds about your offer and spoke up. “Okay. But I want extra chocolate chips in my pancakes” she agreed. You slowly wrapped you arm around her tiny body and brought her closer to your face. “Okay fine. But only this one time” you said and planted a kiss on her forehead. Diana did a little dance and blew a raspberry at Dax knowing she won and giggled.
Dax, even though he was a kid seemed very mature for his age. He just rolled his eyes at his sister’s antics and went back to reading his comic. Batman. You wouldn’t have expected anything else.
After Diana talking non stop about her dream and few other things Dean got the kids up from the bed and took them to get them ready for their grandpa to pick up. Wow, John was alive? Dean told you stories about his dad and how he missed him. You read John’s journal. Even though it was supposed to be your perfect dream you were glad this Dean was reunited with his father.
You were alone now and this was the perfect opportunity. With Dean busy with the kids you sprinted towards the kitchen downstairs. You remember when Dean told you about the time he was taken by a djinn and what he had to do to “wake” himself up. You knew what you had to do. You had to kill yourself in the dream to wake up. You wanted to wait till Dean sent the kids away. If you had enough time, you would somehow convince Dean to go with the kids, but that would be suspicious. Not sure how much the djinn was reading your thoughts already so, you had to act fast. After the kids were ready you heard a honk from outside. The kids waved a quick bye to you and Dean walked them out of the house. This is it.
You were going to do think quick and fast. You convinced yourself repeatedly that this is a dream. You had to. Because all of this was too tempting. Even if you had the perfect Dean here, he wasn’t your Dean. You needed to get to him. You took a sharp knife from the kitchen and rushed to the bedroom upstairs. You took a deep breath and was ready to do the deed.
“Y/N! Stop!” You quickly turned around and there was Dean with fear in his eyes looking at the knife.
“Baby whatever it is. Let’s talk. Please don’t harm yourself” Dean was trying to convince you in a calm voice, but his voice breaking at the end.
You looked at Dean mortified. How do you tell him that this is all a dream? How can you look into those beautiful eyes and break his heart. But you had no time.
“Dean. This is not real. You are not real. The kids are not real. This is a dream Dean. I need to wake up. This is the only way. Please don’t stop me” you said backing away from him. Dean took slow and cautious steps towards you with both his hands raised to show you he means no harm.
“Baby it is real. Everything is real Y/N. You and I are married and we have two beautiful kids. How can you look at their faces and say they are not real! Please put down the knife and let’s talk.” He had tears in his eyes at this point. He was hurting. You couldn’t bear to see him cry, even if it was not your Dean.
“No Dean. Stay back. I need to do this. Because the real you is waiting for me. I need to go to my Dean. Please don’t come any closer.” You had tears in your eyes as well.
“Please don’t hurt the baby Y/N. If you fear having the baby we can talk. We have two beautiful kids and you always wanted a third. Please don’t harm him” Dean begged.
The air got knocked out of your lungs. You looked down at your tummy. There wasn’t a visible bump, but then again you knew this was the djinn talking. He was taking advantage of your vulnerability. You shook your head and dismissed his words and turned the knife over and plunged it to your heart.
Dean screamed and came rushing towards you. He took you in his arms and held your head closer to his chest. You were hurting. Both physically and mentally.
Dean started talking.
“Why baby? Why?” Dean kept chanting over and over again while holding you and crying.
“Just….just..” You wanted to say something to him.
“What is it baby? Tell me?”
You coughed a little and whispered your final words to him.
“Just love me when I wake up. Love me when I wake up, Dean.”
-------- End of dream sequence
And you did wake up.
In front of you was Dean. His hand on your cheek hovering over you just like in the dream, but the only difference is he was worried and you were lying in the most uncomfortable bed. The springs were poking you a little from below, it was dark and smelled like mold. You knew immediately you were back in the warehouse. You wanted to say something, but you couldn’t.
“Oh sweetheart. You are safe.” Dean smiled a little and assured you and himself. “Sammy! She is awake! Call Cas now.” Everything that happened next was a blur. Dean picking you up and taking you to the car. You heard police sirens in the distance. Dean holding you to his chest and chanting “You are safe” repeatedly. Going back to the motel room. Somebody other than Dean touching your forehead. You feeling warm and dozing off to sleep.
You woke slowly. You knew right away you were back in the bunker. The bed feels a little different, the room a little warmer, not pitch dark. You looked to your right and it was like déjà vu. You saw Dean’s sleeping face again. Only this time he had his worry lines back. His freckles were a little lighter. Lashes still the same and those sinful lips even more kissable. He draped his arm around you and you could feel his breath tickling your face with every exhale. You were praying you weren’t back in the dream and realized you were in Dean’s room. As you were processing what happened Dean’s eyes slowly opened.
He smiled a little and said “Do you always stare at me when I am not looking?”
“You wish” you replied groggily. He pulled you closer to him and planted a kiss on your temple.
“Is this, okay?”
“What? You crushing me under you?”
Dean chuckled a little. “Yeah.”
“I don’t mind. But what prompted this?”
Dean sighed.
“Do you want to hear the story now or after breakfast? Or maybe dinner? I lost track of time”
“I woke up from a djinn’s dream Dean. You know how it is. Tell me. What happened? Is Sam okay? Did you guys find Sara? What about the others? I felt a pulse on all three…”
Dean interrupted you “Okay okay…one question at a time sweetheart”
“Okay, just tell me.”
“Sam is fine. We found Sara in the warehouse. All the kidnapped victims are fine. They are in the hospital, but Cas used some of his mojo to help them a little after he healed you. After you very recklessly took off to the warehouse, we are going have a long chat about that by the way, we found your note and the research and it confirmed that the two kidnappings were linked. The Captain was the link between these. I tried calling you and of course it went to voicemail. We traced your phone and rushed over to the warehouse. We found you and the others right away and knew it was a djinn. Sam and I quickly took off the needles and tried to wake you up. We were then attacked by not one but two djinns. A mother and son. We knocked them out and had to run back to the impala to get the silver knife and lamb’s blood. There we saw the captain’s car. He was distraught and broke down in front of us and spilled everything. He is not a djinn, but he married one. They gave birth to their son who also turned out to be a djinn. When they first moved to the town 18 years ago the captain’s wife was pregnant and she needed a lot of blood to survive after the labor. So, they kidnapped and killed the three poor victims back then. Him being the chief detective on the case was able to move the suspicion away from his wife. Now the kid grew up and on his 18th birthday he found out he was cursed to be a djinn as well. The mom was the one who arranged the private star party and lured these three college kids to their secret hideout and well…the rest you know. The things people do for love, right? The captain was ready to confess and surrender himself for the murder and kidnappings. We put him in cuffs and rushed inside to take care of the mom and the son. The mom woke up and she begged to spare her son’s life. I told her I couldn’t do that, but promised her that we can give them both painless deaths cause this wouldn’t end with this kidnapping. And then um…she then asked me if I wanted to know what you are dreaming about.”
 You were shocked a bit. Did you want Dean to know? Were you ready to tell him?
“What did you say Dean?”
“I told her I wouldn’t want to know. That it was your dream and it was private. Whatever it maybe”
You were relieved, but disappointed a little too. You wish somehow Dean knew what you dreamed about and why.
“I was about to take care of the mom when she said I was in your dreams and you were happy with me. She offered if I wanted to join you and have a peaceful life. No hunting. No gore.”
You looked at him expectantly. “I said no.”
It hurt. You didn’t know why. Of course you didn’t want him to be put under a spell and have his blood drained.
“I told her I would rather have the real you. A life with the real you.”
You looked up at him smiling and tears in your eyes.
“Really?”
“Yes sweetheart.” Dean kissed you on the temple assuring you.
“I then tried waking you up. You were still a bit under the spell, but we were able to successfully wake you up. Please never scare me like that again sweetheart.”
“I promise.”
“You know what you said when you woke up?”
You didn’t remember much. You were hoping you didn’t say something stupid.
“No. What did I say?”
“Love me when I wake up, Dean.”
You remembered now. You somehow wanted to tell Dean, any Dean what you always wanted. And you did. You closed your eyes and the tears spilled out.
“Y/N. Sweetheart. Please look at me.”
You shook your head no and turned your face away. Your insecurities and your over thinking were winning. Maybe Dean didn’t want to be with you like the way you want. Love? Could Dean do love?
Dean gently turned you face back to him.
“Look at me sweetheart. Please”
You opened your eyes and saw him smiling a teary smile.
“Do you love me sweetheart? I need to know”
All you could do was shake you head yes. Dean smile got a lot bigger and hovered over you.
“Can I please kiss you baby?”
You smiled wider and shook your head yes again. Dean crashed his lips to yours and held your face in his hands like you were something so fragile. Just like in the dream, but this was very much real.
“God! I wanted to kiss you for so long”
“Really?”
“Yeah really. Every time you laugh at my jokes or when you read a book and you are deep in thought and nibble on your bottom lip, every time you patch me up, every time you were on the receiving end of my anger, every time of every day.”
You just laughed at his confession and your heart swelled with happiness. You pulled him closer and deepened the kiss.
“I love you, Dean.”
“I love you too baby. And I will always love you when you wake up. Always.”
Make Me Write: SNIPPET
Tumblr media
The people have spoken and the people want Jeff to be Steve's bisexual awakening! I now have ~1.7k words written of this fic that had previously been a vague outline in the back of my head. Full disclosure, though: the "awakening" part of this is going to take a good long while for our beloved Steve.
I'm tagging everyone who explicitly requested this for WIP Wednesday (I counted each request as 3 additional sentences to my total count). But I'm going to hang onto the asks and use them for future motivation!
SNIPPET BELOW!
The return to school is a rocky one. The worst of the bruising has faded, and Steve can finally make it through most of a day reasonably alert—at home, at least. But there’s still a persistent ache throughout his whole body, and the fluorescent lights at Hawkins High are suddenly audible in a way he doesn’t remember them being just a couple weeks ago. About halfway through second period he develops a splitting headache that only gets worse as the hours tick by, and he feels seconds away from losing a breakfast he didn’t eat.
And that’s just the physical stuff. Returning to the social feeding frenzy of a small-town high school stuffed with teens with nothing to do than stick their noses all the way up the asses of everyone around them after getting his lights knocked out by the shiny new guy… Max may have knocked Billy out, but Billy’s not the one who had to take a week and a half off. Billy’s not the one with yellowing bruises splashed across his face. Billy’s had time to fashion himself a little amateur PR campaign, with Tommy Hagan as his own personal town crier.
It’s not like Steve had any particular interest in continuing to hover at the periphery of the circles he’d once been the ringleader of. But with Nancy tucked firmly into Jonathan’s side, and staunchly avoiding his gaze, and without the blandly polite interest of any of his other “friends,” Steve is just…adrift.
And on top of all of that, somehow a grade 3 concussion has not managed him a get out of jail free card for the stack of problem sets, papers, and tests he missed while he was out. Steve’s not totally convinced that a couple teachers didn’t tack on additional assignments out of spite.
“Mr. Harrington.”
Steve freezes with one foot in Mr. Donovan’s classroom. “Yes?”
“You’ll be making up the test you missed at the end of last week.”
“Didn’t I also miss the lessons for that test?”
“It’s not my fault if you didn’t have someone to take notes for you while you were away.”
“Away? I had a concussion.”
“Yes, and I’m sure you’ll think twice before getting up to whatever nonsense resulted in that unfortunate accident again. But that does not change the fact that you have a test you need take before you can continue in this class.”
Steve works his jaw, tempted to pull out the ‘my parents will be hearing about this’ card. He probably could get his mom to kick up enough of a fuss to get him out of the test. If he played his cards right, he might even manage to rile his dad enough to get Mr. Donovan fired. But either option was a devil’s bargain, and Steve has had quite enough of hell and its denizens to last himself at least two lifetimes.
Steve swallows down a retort—if he’s not going to try to manipulate his way out of this he’s certainly not going to dig his hole any deeper—and crosses to the front of the room to grab the test from Mr. Donovan’s hand.
***
Almost all of the tables in the small library are full by the time Steve shuffles through the door right on the heel of the final bell. The only one free is the rickety wooden table near the back that has one leg about half an inch too short that always wobbles whenever someone so much as looks at it. Steve sighs, but he resigns himself to sneaking a book thin enough to wedge under the table leg off the shelf while Mrs. Miller is looking away.
A minute later, Steve is cycling through a large stack of very small books when he’s startled by someone speaking from behind him. “I’d go with The Awakening.”
“Huh?” Steve doesn’t even turn around, singularly focused as he is on making this table passably usable for taking the goddamn Chemistry test.
“The Awakening? Kate Chopin? Perfect profile for wedging under there.”
Steve scans the spines of his pile until he spots the book. Fishing it out, he sees that there is a small indent on the front cover that looks suspiciously similar to the shape of the table feet. Sure enough, it settles into place easily, and winks the wobble into nonexistence.
“Perfect, thank you.” Steve finally turns enough to catch sight of his savior. It’s another kid from Donovan’s fifth period Chemistry, but Steve can’t recall his name. If he puts his mind to it and casts back far and wide, he can maybe conjure an image of a darker-skinned teen sitting at the same cafeteria table as Eddie freaking Munson, but there’s a strong chance Steve’s just extrapolating based on the fact that the guy is currently wearing one of the silly “Hellfire Club” t-shirts. Not that knowing his extracurriculars helps at all with remembering what to call him. Steve’s never been the best at names and faces, but he’s starting to think Billy knocked something loose up there when he knocked him out (that’s basically what a concussion is, right?), because he can usually at least come up with some vague impression of a sound even if it’s off. His head is totally blank on this one.
Trying to recall the guy’s name just leaves him awkwardly staring into the middle distance, though. So when Hellfire Guy drops into one of the chairs at the table, it startles him into following suit. Hellfire Guy drops an identical packet to Steve’s on the table.
“You too?” Steve asks.
Hellfire Guy just kind of stares at him with a confused smile. “Why’d you think I was here during our shared class, Harrington?”
Steve flushes. “I didn’t really think before I spoke, to be honest.”
“Well at least you’re honest.” His new tablemate flashes a more genuine grin. “I was out with strep last week. Frankie grabbed my assignments for me, so I just have to make up this stupid test.”
Steve nods, pretending to know who Frankie is, and refusing to wish that he’d had someone willing to grab his assignments while he’d been out. It’s not like he could have done anything about them when he was sleeping two-thirds of the day away.
Steve settles at the table, and as he moves to start writing his name at the top of the page, he realizes that’s the perfect way to figure out Hellfire Guy’s name without seeming like a total jackass. He flicks his eyes across the table to try to catch a glimpse of what the other kid is writing. But Steve’s ability to parse other people’s handwriting is lackluster on a good day. Throwing in the additional obstacles of trying to read something upside down from a foot away and he may as well be trying to read French. He can’t get even a halfway decent look without having to strain himself awkwardly—which he nearly does, forgetting that the whole point of this exercise was to be discreet.
Hellfire Guy looks up to meet Steve’s gaze, and he looks a tad irked. “You trying to cheat off of me, Harrington?”
“No, no, I—” Steve cuts himself off, running a hand through his hair. “I can’t remember your name,” he says. The Steve of a year ago wouldn’t even care about whether or not he knew some nerd’s name. He doesn’t want to be that guy anymore, and yet he’s still right here in the same exact place. Only now he does care, and the fact that he can’t remember the name of a guy who’s sat two rows over from him for the last three and a half months is just embarrassing. “But I didn’t want you to think—” Steve blows out a sharp breath. “It seemed stupid to ask.”
Hellfire Guy blinks. “My name’s Jeff,” he says, without any hint of judgment or annoyance shading his tone. Jeff tilts his head and looks at Steve with an intent sort of squinting look. “Hargrove really did a number on you, huh?”
“Oh.” Steve hadn’t been expecting that response. “Yeah.” He paints a charming smile onto his face. He doesn’t want to talk about this. “We should probably stop talking before Mrs. Miller starts to think we are cheating.”
Jeff opens his mouth as though to say something, but then glances over the front desk. Mrs. Miller is talking to another student, but rather than call Steve out on his obvious deflection he just shrugs and returns to working on his own test. Steve lets out a slow steady exhale of relief and continues working on his own.
It doesn’t take long for the headache that’s been building all day to bloom into something distractingly painful. Even if parts of the test didn’t reference material that he entirely missed while he was out, all of the questions about stuff that he does recognize are about things he’s been struggling to grasp. The multiple choice section was fine—even if he’s not particularly confident he knows the answers to more than three of the questions, at least he can just guess and move on. But he’s thoroughly stuck on the segment of the test where he has to balance equations.
“Are you okay, man?”
Steve jolts in his seat and looks up at Jeff, who’s staring at him with what Steve takes to be genuine concern—as out of place as that should be on a nerdy junior whose name he didn’t know remember less than thirty minutes ago. Beyond that—what was Steve doing that even prompted Jeff to ask? “Yeah, I’m fine. Why?”
“Dude, you’re ripping your hair out, and you sound like a dying lawnmower.”
Steve immediately drops the hand that he didn’t realize had been tugging at his roots from his head, and flushes red. Maybe Billy punched a few holes through his filter while he was doing his best to cave his face in. “Sorry.”
“No, it’s fine. You stuck on something?”
Steve scoffs a bit. “All of it.” He runs a hand through his hair again, but this time to try to reverse some of the damage. “I hate balancing equations.”
