This is not something I would usually post on this blog, but it means a lot to me, so I will. Sorry for the long post.

I spent the week in rooms full of people who like me, cared about me, and wanted me to be there with them. People who were there because they want to help people, and they are helping people. They really are.

The world is a beautiful place full of people who care. And those people care a lot. In those rooms, there were a lot of people who have experienced so much hardship and pain, and people who weren't able to make it back to those rooms this year. We do important work, hard work, but it's worth it to care for others.

We do not all agree on everything. There were all kinds of people. People with wildly different backgrounds, from different groups. But the only group that mattered in those rooms was the one that brought us together, and it was the service we do for others.

I think it's important to remember that these people are out here. But it's also important to know that they need your help too. These people are Americorps members, and I encourage you to learn more about Americorps if you don't already know. To put it briefly, it is an organization of volunteers that do work all over the United States to support people who need it most, those who are poor or suffering from natural disasters, students who need a guiding hand or someone to lean on, and people who just have no one else to turn to for help.

Right now, the government is trying to take away its funding. This isn't unusual, it has happened before and it will happen again. However, nothing is ever certain, especially not now. Already, there have been several grants cut in the middle of people's service, leaving many suddenly without income, homes, or financial awards that they were depending on.

As an active Americorps member, I have to be careful with what I say. But I hope you understand.

I think a lot about Leo’s tendency to push his way into the spotlight despite clearly being a natural in the shadows. Hell, you could argue that his worst moments are when he’s forcing himself onstage, and his best are when he does things no one notices until it’s already been done.

On top of everything else that's happened in the last month or so

(girlfriend breaking up with me / me running off in the night w the friend I was supposed to be maid of honor with bc her (now ex) fiance came home drunk and scared us, while ofc we also both were in swimsuits and had like NO money or even shoes due to incredibly poor timing / Getting stuck in Dallas for TWO MONTHS longer than I meant to be due to bullshit work transfer systems (and admitedly my own inability to remember that deadlines exist) / that same friend going BACK to her shit boyfriend alone to a city 4 hours away from anyone she may call for help if things go wrong / me now no longer having a place in dallas to stay for these next 2 months bc I was SUPPOSED to stay with that friend but her bastard boyfriend doesn't want me in his house anymore bc he knows I'd tell his girlfriend to dump his ass)

I have now lost my fucking house keys.

Anyways I may or may not be way less active for a bit so this is the formal apology and explanation for that. Sorry guys, we are NOT going back to ur normally scheduled rapid fire ninja content as promised for like. A minute. Possibly. We'll see. Sometimes my own motivation wave surprises me.

Saw someone refer to Mormonism as a "doomsday cult" and like. Putting aside the unending "cult" debate, where the heck are you getting "doomsday" from??? Do you think we just spend our days sequestering ourselves in caves and chanting about how the end is nigh?? Alright, just finished my classes, time to go home and light a candle over the corpse of my neighbor's cat while begging the heavens to spare me when they rain fireballs down on us next week!

Like yeah we believe in an apocalypse sorta thing but so do most Christians? And we don't know squat about when it's gonna happen so like. Don't even worry about it. Guarantee the vast majority of LDS folk are not really concerned about doomsday. There's more important stuff to worry about. Like how outrageous of a tie can one attempt to wear at the pulpit before the Bishop asks you to take it off.

Genuinely curious as to which Mormons you've met that were particularly doomsday cult-y (emphasis on the doomsday part specifically, if it's just non-doomsday-specific cult allegations then that's a topic for a different time) . Particularly if they're from Utah, because if they are then one of my friends owes me money.
