It's the happy shouts as he waves at you from the stage, arm thrown up high before he points right at you. His love is the excited smiles as he runs up to you whenever you meet, full speed, almost a tackle. It is the loud laughter as you watch him do absolutely insane shit. The laughter of someone truly in love as he spends time joking around with you. Kayn loves you like a storm. Loud, fast, exciting. Kayn's love is wild and overwhelming. It is the thunder and lighting, the whirling winds and cold rain. It is the way he'll pick you up at your place and drive you to impromptu dates. Yone loves you like the first sign of fall. Cosy, crisp, cold. He loves you in the way that makes you feel like its time to get warm in bed. His love leaves you wondering how such cold can make you feel so warm. How he was so distant yet so near. Yone's love makes you feel like its a good time to snuggle up and read a book in his arms, quiet but present. His love is like the cold wind blowing autumn leaves into the air. Beautifully elegant. Gentle touches like the wind as his fingers ghost over your skin, leaving you shivering in their wake. It was how he would smile and pass you one half of his earpiece, letting you listen to him mix and edit, so you won't feel left out. His love was the way he would rest his back on the wall, pulling you close to lean on him as he calmly kisses your forehead. Yone loves you like the first sign of fall. Surprising, yearning, brisk. Yone's love was the way he would watch sunsets with you while his hand holds your head close to his. It was how you'd see him smile to himself when seeing a photo of you or reading your messages. It was how he would lightly rub his fingers against the back of your hand whenever you held his. Anyway needless to say, college is showing me a whole slew of people who are using laptops in school for the first time and they're so bad at it. They're so bad at taking notes too. They're so bad at everything

I know that Disney’s new movie “Wish” hasn’t even come out yet, but I feel like I can already guess some of its themes basing on the soundtrack and the clips we’ve gotten so far.

The vibes I’ve been getting from the songs (especially Knowing What I Know Now and This Wish reprise) is that there’s a huge emphasis on standing up against an authority figure who promises something good for the people but is actually just making them entirely dependent on him so that he can presumably acquire more power. The line "We were all confusing your promises for protection" from This Wish (reprise) comes to mind regarding this.

Another detail I'd like to point out is the fact that "people deserving more than what they've been getting" seems to be a recurring theme/motif/line throughout the film. Asha literally sings "So I make this wish, to have something more for us than this" and says something along the lines of "The people of Rosas deserve more" in the trailer.

I can't help but think of this as an allegory for how companies treat writers, animators, and actors. Companies promise to give these talented people something good but only give them back shit in return.

If you're not entirely convinced yet, take a look at the official clip Disney released a few days ago showing the root of Asha and Magnifico's conflict. Once a person gives their wish to the king, their memories of that wish, their deepest desires, their primary motivation for living their lives, are erased and are left waiting for him to grant it. But the thing is... he doesn't grant most of them (which seems reasonable because some wishes can be dangerous), instead he just hoards them without any intention of giving them back to the people. Asha makes a great point of asking why he doesn't just give the wishes back so the people can pursue their dreams and make their wishes come true themselves (and if the wishes are dangerous, then they can be stopped). Magnifico is against this and I'm guessing it's because the wishes give him his power.

This reads to me as a creator pitching a show or a movie to a company promising greatness for their work only for it to be canceled or severely fucked with before it can even spread its wings and fly. Instead of giving the creator back their work so they can pursue in telling the whole story they wanted to tell, the company keeps the creator's work for itself so it can have all the $$$$$$$$.

These companies make promises of grandeur to these people only for it to make decisions entirely for its gain ignoring all the writers, animators, creators, and actors who work for them.

It's like this film is saying that these people deserve more than what they've been getting and should absolutely fight back. They deserve to get their stories told, they deserve to get their proper amount of pay, they deserve to be treated as human beings with lives outside their work, and they deserve to have their wishes granted.

FKDJSAKSHJA I won't lie anon I love getting chonky questions about my fics so thank you for reaching out about your confusion with this particular subject . in your defense I understand why it might be confusing on a first read because it IS fundamentally a story about two lovers wanting connection. the catch is that they are too messed up to actually achieve it in a mutual manner 😞

so basically. I think the mc's first weird thing that they did was wanting to know what aventurine was saying in his sleep and not just asking him LMFAOOO instead they fucking went about learning it in a roundabout way, without his permission, and just did not care about his boundaries gkdhdsldhsmsj

but while that is whack dishonest behaviour, the real crux of the manipulation in this dynamic is that the reader gave the impression to aventurine that he would be able to understand them better via language exchange, but they set him up for failure in this regard. from the outset, they had no intention of revealing anything about their inner world to him because they planned to deceive him in their native tongue. on the other hand, through learning aventurine's mother tongue, they are able to access a deeply vulnerable part of him. and they do it without him knowing.

so they use this knowledge of his mother tongue and his weakness to it to manipulate him into treating them better: crying in it to gain his pity (just as they did with their captors) and asking for gestures of affection using his language because they know he can't say no. they can use his first language to control him, but aventurine cannot do the same. it's very one-sided.

but as you said, it's ultimately a bid for connection. and they resort to this behaviour to achieve connection because, put frankly, aventurine has already created a one-sided dynamic where he has killed any potential for true connection. like tl;dr he really does treat them like garbage 😭😭😭 the mc just got kinda tired of that and wanted to girlboss him back so that he'd be actually affectionate to them. though they also just want to find a way to make him happy.

for some reason i can see rowan being very good with your classic academics like maths and science. id say he took triple science and some kind of business studies.

lister took history, only because jimmy was taking it, and art because he thought it would be easy (it wasn't.) he only passed music and english literature, which he scrapped a C in, but ended up settling for it. rowan passed his exams with A*/A somehow, lister thinks hes just naturally good but he put a lot of effort into that, probably got sick with stress as soon as exams were over. jimmy passed most of his exams but failed science.

i think the deal with gluttony is to do with thought and perspective. gluttony is, to be nice about it, a fuck up. he wasn't meant to exist in the way he does. he's the failed attempt of Father to create an access-point to the Gate of Truth. i think he symbolises in some way the lack of foresight, the lack of critical thinking. Father thought he could do something that was way beyond the ability of AnyoneTM, divine or not (only the Gate of Truth can be the Gate of Truth and very little can let you access the Gate of Truth). the gluttony expressed here is kind of a weird kind of gluttony - it's not the gluttony of food/alcohol/other, it's very specifically a kind of pride/greed mashup of wanting all of the knowledge and all of the power and needing access to it so he can "consume" it, without a thought for the possible consequences.

on the surface, gluttony (in his "human" form) is a very simple character because he's a fucked-up creation. he eats a lot and drinks a lot and consumes happily and without thinking about it too much. but beyond that, he's Father's greed at wanting everything, without much care for the quality of it. quantity over quality if you will.

gluttony is simple because he was created kind of on accident. the other sins are more developed because they were consciously separated from father. greed is specifically material and social greed of some kind (social greed as in wanting to be worshiped as The ManTM kind of deal), wrath was very specifically created to contain anger, vengeful desires and the need for control etc etc. the other sins very much fit their sins' molds. but gluttony is a careless creation that is equally much greed as lust as envy as... he's not created with care and that's why he's kind of fucked up.

I agree with you on almost everything, but instead of Gluttony being the personification of Father wanting everything no matter the quality, I'd say taking. That way he's much more separate from Greed. Gluttony and Greed seem to be merged together often, despite being two different sins: as in Gluttony is misunderstood as a form of Greed.

Greed = want

Gluttony = take

Or at least that's how I see it.

Having said that, Call It Anything We Want is the first fic I posted on ao3 after a long writing hiatus so. I'm proud of that and of the amount of time I've put into this story as a whole.

hey dad everything’s really getting worse for me found out I’m Aro and I like boys and I’ve been with someone who’s gender-fluid and I told them and said the whole this is what I like I love you platonicly if you don’t want to be friends I get it thing I’ve been having panic attacks All day and it gave me a killer headache and I’m pretty sure I’m insanely dehydrated from all the crying now I’ve always had problems with like identifying my emotions and addressing them let alone feeling anything at all cause of childhood trauma shit also I have a 12 paragraph essay due tommorow that I haven’t even started on we’ve had a month to work on it and I keep having medical issues I’m pretty much medically fucked and I’ve been weening off prescribed steroids that we’re keeping me alive and now I have withdraw symptoms since December then my back started having problems and there’s a bulging disk in it. "i don't like hp/hp fandom." babe why r u at the criticizing hp fandom store if u don't want hp fandom criticism....

and yeah i've talked before on my blog abt how like. i do not think we can "separate" fandom from jkr + the inherent shittiness of hp + my personal stance is that i think if u are engaging with hp fandom in 2023 u should at least be prepared to acknowledge + address the fact that u are engaging w a fundamentally conservative piece of media that is rooted in horrible politics, bc if u don't fully understand how jkr's politics are steeped throughout the franchise then it is much more likely that u will just be. absorbing + perpetuating them.

i think something that gets left out of a lot of conversations abt jkr even when discussing how shitty she is within hp fandom is the fact that like. yeah she's broadly transphobic, but she is specifically transmisogynistic, and the politics + policies she endorses are most targeted + harmful towards trans women. in my personal experience thus far in hp fandom i've encountered a lot of tme trans people, and i think there can be this tendency to go "well i'm trans and i know so many trans people who have carved out a space in this fandom that is super affirming + positive for ourselves, so obviously there is no transphobia here" and like. bc of the strong emotional connection to what people view as a safe queer space it can feel like an attack or whatever when someone goes "ok but. have u considered transmisogyny." or just whenever someone is like. rude/mean/cunty in their criticism of hp--but like. tbh as tme trans people i just think it's more important to recognize that many other trans people (and especially tma trans people) have a reason for being rude/mean/cunty in their criticism of hp and even if it hurts ur feelings it's more important to actually think about where that critique is coming from then to get upset bc u feel like it wasn't phrased nicely. at the end of the day just bc a space feels safe 2 u does not mean it is going 2 feel safe 2 everyone!!
