This will be a long response forgive me.

I ideologically disagree with them and their stance on fiction. I believe their insistence for nuance while not being nuanced themself is infuriating and troubling. I believe fiction can depict any heavy or sensitive subject but is deserving of criticism for however the subject is portrayed as. I do not believe harassment or censorship is an appropriate response to it. I believe there are instances where fiction has affected reality and usually reflect the values of the environment and time period it was created in. I'm autistic so i know how fictional portrayals can affect the attitudes for how others treat Autism: for better or for worse. If a dark subject has been portrayed as romantic despite it not being so for years, decades - it will inevitably affect reality. Like how Navobov’s Lolita was treated by the public. Trying to say otherwise for the sake of fanfiction discourse is ignorant.

My take is if you ship incest or pedophilia/child x adult and go on about how hot it is, you're fucking weird and I recommend you don't interact with minors if you openly identify as a proshipper. That's really it and it's still a hard feat for proshippers to not do, especially from adults who should honestly know better. That would consider me an anti or an "proshipper" depending on who you ask because I don't want proshippers dead or doxxed. But just consider, I don't like proshippers.

The community has a pattern for ignoring racist content because of the argument “fiction is not reality”. People of color and other marginalized people were kicked out of proshipper circles for disliking racist or nazi art. Proshippers have called others who don't like RPF of real minors “antis”, so believe it or not, they also change definitions on a whim. They talk about AO3 as though it's a beacon of anti-censorship, while the site goes on to censor fics with "Free Palestine" tags. I believe comparing fictional shipping discourse to the subjugation and injustice of marginalized groups in order to defend those ships is highly disgusting and insensitive. derailing serious political discussions to bring up antis shows how little some people actually understand oppression to think it's comparable. comparing antis to cops and authoritarian institutions is disgusting. using the pink triangle to compare the abuse and mass-murder of queer people in the Holocaust to shipping incest or pedophilia is in poor taste AT BEST.

It's not just fanfiction, it's a type of behavior that people in fandom ignore and celebrate. Pardon me if I think they are annoying and insufferable at the very least and I don’t want to talk to them. This is why I dislike proshippers. That is why I have the “Proships DNI”. Thanks.

Ok so, I just remembered how people in the comments of a tiktok video were being assholes, and I want to rant now :3

The video showed two wheelchair users at a train(?), who had just arrived to their stop to find nobody was there with a ramp so they could leave the train. One of them blocked the door so it wouldn't close, and this lasted for 15 minutes. The train was stopped for said 15 minutes. There was a button by the door, that said that it'd contact the driver when pressed. It didn't. People offered to go find the driver, and they came back with the news that there were no people in the platform to put the ramp. In the end, passengers had to go out, and place the ramp themselves, before the train could carry on. The wheelchair users had warned they were coming, and asked to have the ramp put there so they could get down. The platform turned out to have workers, they all just ran away because they'd never encountered the situation in which they needed to do this simple task.

Because of the workers' negligence, the train was forced to stop for 15 minutes.

Everyone's comments?

"Why did they block the doors and stop the train? So selfish" Selfish were workers who refused to do their job.

"What if someone had needed to get to their stop urgently? They shouldn't have stopped the train" It wasn't the disabled people's fault, it was the workers who were negligent.

"Why didn't they just wheel themselves down those steps?" They shouldn't have to risk their (expensive) chairs just because people didn't do what they were paid to do.

"If I had been in that train I would've been pissed, how dare you stop it" And you probably wouldn't have even thought about fixing the problem yourself, would you?

"Entitled assholes" Ok I'll leave you stranded in a train with everyone who could help you get down outright refusing to. Let's see who's an entitled asshole now.

If someone fights for accessibility, as much as it might be a bother for you, you do not have the right to be mad at them. If someone fights for accessibility, it is exclusively the fault of a world catered exclusively for able-bodied people.

So next time you think, "hey the consequences of these disabled people fighting for their rights bother me", instead of blaming them for this, help them solve the issue. This way, next time they will not have to fight at all.

Able bodied people, go out and fight for a fucking accessible world if you're not an asshole.

I’m hoping that this is as “angry” as I’ll get with a comic, but given how the world is shaping up politically at the moment, I fear that might not be the case.

It’s been incredibly eye opening to witness the degree to which some people I know are willing to bury their heads in the sand in order to avoid the reality of the awful things that are happening around them.  Awful things that they were told were going to happen.

In America, people are being black bagged and shipped off to El Salvador without due process to be held indefinitely in prisons, with the current administration now making social media posts cruelly boasting that they’ll never return. 

Make no mistake, if people are being kidnapped by the government, given no due process, and are shipped to a foreign nation to be held in prison with no intention to give them any legal recourse, we need to call these prisons what they are:

They are death camps.

The United States of America is rounding up “undesirables” and sending them to death camps. 

There are people in this country that voted for this.  No matter how nice they otherwise seem or claim to be, these people are evil to the core. 

There are also people who didn’t vote for this, but do provide social validation and acceptance to those who did.

If you are someone who thinks you’re against fascism, but you also accept fascists in your life, you are a fascist. 

There can be no acceptance of intolerance.  In the comic, the person I’m lampooning is the “Fake Trans Ally”, but you can swap out “trans” for any other group of marginalized people.  Frankly, just call this person “The Fake Ally.”

If you’re someone reading this and feel attacked because I’m calling you a fake ally, it’s time to do some soul searching.  When the history books are written about this period of American history, are you going to be someone who was unambiguously against hatred, or were you someone that treated hate as acceptable? 

Were you someone that invited hatred into your home?

Were you someone that shared a meal with hatred?

Were you someone that allowed hatred a safe haven?

If you’re someone that does that, you yourself are hateful. 

When you accept hate, you do so at the expense of those who are the target of that hatred.

Be better, our lives depend on it.

i feel like people are skimming over the uk riots in a way that makes me want to tear my hair out. muslims in the uk are in active danger. immigrants in the uk are in active danger. refugees in the uk are in active danger. people of colour in the uk are in active danger. asian communities in the uk are in active danger. black communities in the uk are in active danger.

there are massive far right riots throughout the country right now and people like fucking elon musk and nigel farage are inciting it and still have a platform to speak. people have used three young girls deaths, people's genuine grief in southport, to try and gain traction for their own racist bullshit and it's working.

a lot of refugee charities have been forced to close leaving many people without support, homes, funding, food, etc. if you aren't able to donate please consider sending a message via the conversation over borders campaign! it will send a hopeful, welcoming letter to a refugee in the uk. there is also a guide to staying safe here.

please do your own research and donate to refugee charities, anti-islamophobia charities, mosques who are trying to rebuild after being destroyed, counter protesters, here are some i've heard positive things about but the list is extensive; southport strong together (support for the southport victims and their families), southport mosque rebuilding, riot repair fund, middlesbrough vulnerable residents, nasir mosque rebuilding, hull help for refugees, bristol welcomes migrants,
