A routine is essential for us to become the best versions of ourselves, but for us to fully commit to a routine, it has to be aligned with our needs and values.
hehe trying out a different aesthetic 😚😚
FIGURE OUT WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE DAILY. This isn’t what your to-do list currently looks like, but rather how you want your to-list to look like. If you can’t think of anything right now, carry a small notebook or open your notes app during the day to take notes of anything you may want to add to your routine.
BREAK THOSE TASKS INTO SMALLER ONES. This helps us to see more clearly in our routine and helps to make our tasks or goals easier to achieve. E.g. Avoid saying ‘study time’ but say flashcards and re-reading notes.
SET GOALS. This can be daily, weekly, monthly and so on. Just have those little habits in your routines that help you advance to reach your goals. This also helps with our motivation throughout the day.
STRUCTURE YOUR DAY EFFICENTLY. If you have a day where there are no urgent or important tasks to be done, use it to take notes on how you feel throughout. Document the times when you feel the most productive, energised, social and tired. Using this information, divide your tasks into the times that suit each other.
ALLOW FOR FREE TIME BLOCKS IN YOUR DAY. One, for just allowing some time for your brain and body to just chill. Two, just so if anything comes up, you have a free window of time to do it.
TEST YOUR ROUTINE AND MAKE ADJUSTMENTS. Throughout the day, ask yourself; ‘how does my routine make me feel?’ and ‘What tasks do I dread, and what do I look the most forward to?’ If need to be, make any changes.
BE CONSISTENT. This is the only way for a routine to be solid in your life, to do them at the same time every day. This tip sounds mundane, but you can always change it up a little. E.g. Listen to different podcasts or audiobooks every time you go out for your walks.
PREPARE FOR YOUR ROUTINE. Allow your environment to encourage anything you want to add to your routine, for example, if you want to do yoga in the morning, leave your yoga mat in front of your bed where you can see it.
INCLUDE BREAKS, FOOD AND EXERCISE. Resting, eating well and moderate exercise help us to be more productive in the day, and to complete our tasks to higher standards.
KEEP TRACK OF YOUR PROGRESS. See which habits you’re more inclined to do, and which ones you usually avoid. Sometimes, some habits just aren’t meant for us, and that’s okay.
FORGIVE YOURSELF FOR NOT COMMITTING. It’s okay, you’re going to have days when your routine is the least ideal. Don’t beat yourself up for it, instead try to at least accomplish one task that’s a part of your routine.
MAKE IT ENJOYABLE. Your routine isn’t something to punish you, but rather something that helps you to keep an orderly life. It should be something that you’re at least willing to do.
Some ways to make it fun: Listen to music while you do tasks, romanticise your routine as much as possible, include rewards for anything productive and try to involve your loved ones.
I spent the morning doing something else, and after lunch, I decided to head to the university to study. Well, it took me an hour to find a study room/library that wasn’t crowded! Eventually, I found a spot in the cold, but after an hour, I gave up and studied at home. 🤦🏽♀️
It was an awesome day. The TT session went so well, studied some PM, I finally exercised after almost two weeks of no physical exercise at all. Very happy with today’s results and I also made some dinner, very delicious btw!
Tomorrow it seems a more relaxing one as I don’t have big plans. I will plan my Thursday in the morning in a way that studying PM is involved and also the literature essay. Crossing my fingers that I’ll be energetic enough to run. Hopefully I’ll feel like it and not need as much coffee as previous days. I believe I can keep up a pace that doesn’t force me and that I still deliver a level of productivity that suits me.
First write out everything you have to do that’s work/school related (literally everything)
Think realistically how long each task will take ( this takes practice but you’ll notice in the beginning you’ll overestimate a lot)
Pick 3 of those things that are top of the food chain (these are your must dos for the day)
Set a timer for the amount of time you think the time will take and try and beat it (make it a competition)
Once you finish a task reward yourself with a 10-15min break (make yourself a snack, play your favorite song)
Repeat until you have finished your three things
Assess your mental strength (it’s ok to be done once you finish your 3 things but if you feel the rush of productivity feel free to repeat with a few things lower on the list)
Now for things that aren’t related to work such as errands and chores.
Again make a list of literally everything you need to do.
Estimate the rough amount of time they will take ( I over estimate for any errand where I have to leave my house because those just always take more time then you think)
Pick your top 3
I personally set aside about 45 mins a day for these things but there will be the occasional 1-1.5hr (depends on the day and schedule)
I only use those 45 mins to do my top 3. This may seem like too little but if you spend a good 45mins a day on things like tidying, laundry, and dishes you will see a lot of improvement.
Once time ends you are good to take a little break or be done for the day the things on this list shouldn’t be things that have hard deadlines those should be in the first list.
A few extra tips.
If you have a few things you know will take longer than 30 min break it up (this does mean you’ll have to work on it sooner rather than later though)
I know I’m only telling you to do 6 things a day but if you are working/going to school you are already doing a lot more than you think. Be proud of yourself.
Start a done list. Everyday write down your accomplishments/big projects you finished. Then you will truly see how much you get done in just a week (these can be as small as you want as long as you are proud for doing them)
You don’t have to do this everyday. I am one of the first preachers that you should be consistent. But that’s not always the case some days the most productive thing you can do is let your mind/body rest.
You can always add more frequent breaks. Listen to your body and take what you need. It took a lot of practice for me to consistently be able to work for an hour straight and even I don’t do that very often.
Hope this helps and remember productivity is not a necessary requirement for happiness but it can feel good. You can decide how much it plays a role in your life

Hey i just wanna ask since your blog is really helpful, can you give me some advice on how to stop being lazy or how to be more productive? This have been a problem since i was little and im telling you i wanna make it stop
HOW TO EXIT YOUR LAZY GIRL ERA
LAZINESS IS NOT AN ACTION, BUT A MINDSET. If you are truly committed, disciplined and motivated, you will have no problems achieving your goals and being productive. So, no negative self-talk & a limiting mindset only holds you back.
EAT THE FROG OR CHICK
Eating the frog refers to doing the hardest task on your to-do list first to get in your productivity flow and conquer your to-do list easily.
Or, what I prefer, is eating the chick(s). Doing the small impact tasks first gives you enough confidence to do your harder tasks. Eat the one you prefer!
FIGURE OUT THE REAL ISSUE. Is this a task you hate? Then make it enjoyable for yourself. Afraid of failing? Expect yourself to fail. Is it overwhelming? Then only do a fraction of the task. Find a solution.
DON’T LIMIT YOURSELF TO TIME. Avoid timing yourself or giving yourself a time limit. Just do your tasks without worrying about time, even if you run out, you’ve still been productive.
SET YOUR ENVIRONMENT FOR SUCCESS. Lay out everything that you have to do, minimise common distractions and remove anything that makes you feel anything but productive.
MAKE THE TRANSITION EASY, from non-productive to productive. Ensure that you have a customised ritual before being productive, have a particular time to start being productive and have a specific place where you are productive.
AVOID PERFECTION. It doesn’t matter if your tasks aren’t achieved at a high standard, but if you commit to just doing it, that consistency provides more growth and helps to do that same task again.
PLAN YOUR DAY, PROPERLY. Don’t be vague when planning. Outline what you need to do for each task, because when we know what we have to do, it seems more achievable and less out of reach.
BALANCE IS KEY. Taking breaks, eating healthy meals throughout and getting the blood flowing increases our productivity. Please, do not overexert yourself to be productive.
Omg this year at work I have to be on point, organization wise. I have quite a few extracurriculars and I want to take on one more. Not to mention that I already have quite a few things on my plate and I will be getting my responsibilities. I also want to start studying for my professional license but I have to figure out where I can find the time.
On another note I’m very grateful to not only have a job in this economy but also a role with so much opportunities to learn. I’m also grateful to be a firm that has so many extracurriculars.
2024 is going to be jam packed but I’m excited to see where it will take me.
Despite disappearing for a few days, the challenge and on fire. It’s been working well, and i am not considering that the not-logged days as unproductive. Life also happens outside of socials. Helene Cixous and Jacques Derrida didn’t have to post on social media to become the philosophers they are today. So it’s okay.
Of course that a couple of days were a little difficult and that’s why i postponed writing here. But that’s not the main reason. In the meantime (when life was not a mess and i was beating myself down being afraid of things and thinking i am way too powerless and way too dumb) i have read a lot of articles and decided to change the direction of my essay. It is still on icons, semiotics, and imagery in literature, but i am narrowing down some of the themes. Instead of comparing writers, i am focusing by object of study to one literature author and history of art. It will fit me better and i fell more passionate about it.
Work was crazy as well. Like, crazy crazy. But well is solved, tomorrow there is an important meeting, so i need to prepare for that and to do it I’ll wake up at six tomorrow.
Something that made me sad is that i did not reach my end of the year goal on Goodreads, but, like i said before: not everything has to be tracked, not everything has to be a challenge i have to have the biggest numbers. I am not counting the several articles i read there, that gave so much perspective. Life is outside the numbers. Reading a book is not getting to the last page of it. Cixous mentioned in one of her essays that she had a Clarice Lispector book that she never finished, but was being constantly read, from the moment she opened it. And it remains there, page-marked, maybe in the middle, maybe more toward the beginning. It doesn’t matter, it is being read while one lives.
As a little break from the productivity posts, i am sharing (on another post) some of my 110mm film that I just received back.

What is Automattic's plan for Tumblr in 2024 and how will it affect the site?
After several years of trying to revitalize Tumblr and attract new users, Automattic, the company that acquired Tumblr in 2019, is taking a more focused approach in 2024. In a recent blog post, Automattic CEO Matt Mullenweg outlined the company's plans for Tumblr, which include:
Streamlining the product: Tumblr will be focusing on its core functionality, such as blogging, sharing, and discovering content. This means that some features that haven't been as successful, such as Tumblr Live, may be discontinued or rolled back.
Improving existing functionality: Tumblr will be investing in improving existing features, such as the search engine and the ability to customize themes. The company is also planning to add new features that users have been requesting, such as the ability to schedule posts.
Focusing on user experience: Automattic is committed to providing a great user experience for Tumblr users. This means that the company will be working to make the site more user-friendly, more accessible, and more inclusive.
What does this mean for Tumblr users?
The changes that Automattic is making to Tumblr in 2024 are likely to have a positive impact on the site. By focusing on core functionality and user experience, the company is making Tumblr a more valuable and enjoyable platform for its users.
Here are some specific ways that the changes could benefit users:
A more streamlined experience: With fewer features and a more focused interface, Tumblr will be easier to use and navigate.
Improved functionality: Users will be able to do more of the things they love on Tumblr, such as finding new content, customizing their profiles, and sharing their own creations.
A better user experience: Tumblr will be more accessible to users with disabilities, and the site will be more inclusive of all users.
Overall, Automattic's plan for Tumblr in 2024 is a good one. By focusing on what makes Tumblr unique and valuable, the company is giving the site a chance to thrive in the years to come.
