You Lash Out PT2
Hello! Sorry for the delay, Life has been insane, anyway
Notes: Hurt/Comfort, Panic Attack, Crying,
Izuku:
The door seemed to stare Izuku back as he stood infront of it. The fresh sting of your words, and confusion swirling with panic as his own breath hitched. Searching for something to say, as if the perfect words could be pulled from thin air, yet nothing came out. You really weren't doing too much better, on the other side of the door, pacing (a habit in which you've picked up from Izuku.)
The tension seemed to slowly ease on your side of the door, as the silence and calm helped collect your thoughts and regulate your emotions. Izuku's back resting against the wall as he waited, growing into a higher and higher panic as every minute passed, yet he couldn't bring himself to do, or try to help, any more. It was your voice that reached his ears and brought him to action again.
"Izu? It's... not locked." you stated hesitantly, subtly kicking yourself for the words you'd previous said. Soon the boy on the other side of the door walked in, leaning against the doorframe as he scanned the room, before his gaze landed on you. It had been quite a while since you'd seen that level of pure distress burdening his face, lips pressed together and cheeks wet with tears.
"Let's talk" you said softly, patting the bed next to you. Watching as he slowly walked over, sitting down next to you but keeping his eyes forward. The awkward tension between the two was almost tangible, before you finally moved. Shocking Izuku with your head on his shoulder, and hand tucked in yours.
"I'm sorry I said that, I was overwhelmed and lashed out instead of telling you what the issue was," you started, not meeting his gaze which was now focused on you. Your nerves getting the better of you as you scrambled on words to say next
"I was just trying to help, I... hate seeing you suffer alone." Izuku started, his thumb now running over your knuckles.
"I... was going to come to you, but sometimes words aren't the best ways to check on me?... I was... really overwhelmed Izuku, and the best way you could've been there for me... was like this." you said, lifting up your combined hands before gently kissing his fingers. Your gaze still not meeting his. "It's not just hand-holding, sometimes I just need someone to listen, or stay in silence with me. I need to communicate what I need better too..."
Izuku's lips met your temple, as he stayed there a few moments, silencing your words. before he finally spoke. "I'm sorry I pushed when you weren't ready, and I forgive you completely. I just hope that you can forgive me too." Your nod in response lightening his heart as he wrapped an arm around you, just holding you close. For even when there are fights, Izuku will never let that get in the way of his care for you, and he's willing to stick through it, even when things get rough.
Bakugo:
"oh my gosh, oh my gosh-" you breathed to yourself, sobs racking your body as it sunk more into the floor. You didn't want to leave, you didn't want him to ever doubt that you would run away. But you just had. The thoughts pounded in your head over and over again, not even thinking to open the door, the fear that Bakugo had just... left.
"I need you to listen to me."
His voice cut through the noise, not angry, but firm and direct as you listened yet couldn't stop your sobbing. lips trembling as you nodded, not that he could see. "I need you to breathe" he directed, as his forehead pressed harder against the door, now squatted down so you could hear him better. your hands shaking as you whispered out, praying he could hear you
"I can't, Kat-"
"Believe me, you can. Now c'mon, breathe in-" His voice grounded you as you followed his instruction, the fears taking a backseat in your mind as reality became more clear. the shame you felt knawing away at you as you reached up, clicking the lock to the door open and twisting the handle.
"I'm so sorry Katsuki" you cried, reaching out for him as he wrapped his arms around you tightly, holding you safe. your fingers clasping tightly onto his shirt as he buried his face into your shoulder. Instead of calming down in the presence of your loved one, your cries grew louder.
"I'm sorry, I said I'd leave, I'll never leave and what if..." you wheezed out, holding him as you cried,
"what's gotten into you... hey- look at me." Bakugo's voice cut through the noise once again, as his crimson eyes stared into your own, hands on your shoulders as his brow wrinkled in worry. Meeting his eyes was both comfort and agony combined.
"I'm... I'm so sorry, what if... you don't forgive me for what I said?" You whimpered, new tears springing loose. before you could even process what happened your face gently met bakugo's shoulder as he held you tightly. "that's a load of crap, I hope you know that. How many times have you forgiven me for being an ass? and this time you were... right, y'know" he whispered, breath hitting your ear.
"we can talk about this again later, cause... I never want you to be scared like that. I'm not going anywhere"

cw: self-indulgent. hurt/comfort. reader inside her own head.
izuku comes home later than usual. typically by now you’d be asleep, having given up on waiting up on him for the night (you’ve mostly squashed the fear that he wouldn’t come home to you and he’s often relieved to see you sleeping soundly), but when he arrives, you’re wide awake in bed, albeit staring forlornly at the ceiling.
you say a soft word of greeting when you note his presence at the entrance to the master bedroom, and he stands there for a moment, taking in the scene, eyes giving you a once over as he takes a mental snapshot of the room. physically, you are okay. bundled under too many blankets for the temperature of the room and curled up in fetal position, you don’t show any signs of obvious distress aside from emotional. izuku takes soft footsteps to your side of the bed and your eyes shift towards him as he arrives then crouches down to your level.
“hi baby. shouldn’t you be asleep?” he asks, with a smile that is a little gentler than usual. you don’t offer him as wide of a smile back, but you are trying.
he doesn’t like that. you’re covering up your hurt.
“trying,” you murmur. he nods, then fishes for your hand under the blankets, pulling it to his fingers and kissing the tips.
“how was your day?” he asks. you tell him it was fine, and he kisses your forehead before standing, deciding he’ll probe in just a few moments.
izuku disappears into the bathroom, showering and brushing his teeth before reemerging, hair wet and skin still slightly damp but clean. you turn your body in his direction, forgetting to wear your mask of satisfaction briefly when you rest your head on your folded hands against the pillow. he slips in between the covers beside you and his hand caresses your face.
“how was your day?” you ask, voice barely audible despite the quiet between you two. it’s a quarter to 3am, and you need to be up at 7am; sleeping is more important than asking him how the same old patrol was. izuku brushes his lips against your forehead.
“fine.” he keeps it brief. “no one got hurt.”
“including you?” you ask, eyebrow raised. he laughs, and to his joy, you crack a wider smile too.
“including me.”
“good.”
izuku wraps his arms around you and holds you closer. you nestle into his hold and let out a sigh against his chest you didn’t realize you’d been holding in all day.
a few moments pass where you sit in silence, counting each other’s heartbeats. izuku’s fingers find their way into your hair, teasing through the tresses, and you swallow hard before speaking your heart finally.
“do you think i come off too strong?” you ask the question hesitantly, knowing that the truth may hurt even if it’s coming from someone you love.
there it is, he thinks, thankful that you’re freely communicating. when it’s really bad you clam up, and there’s nothing worse to him than your silence.
“i think you’re perfect,” he replies. “why do you think otherwise?”
you sigh and close your eyes. he’s too sweet to you sometimes.
"i think i’ve just been having too many difficult conversations lately.”
it’s his turn to let out a deep breath, and his fingers make their way out of your hair to cup your face.
“you’re allowed to speak your mind,” he says. “you’re kind and well-intentioned.”
you purse your lips.
“i’m noisy and opinionated,” you return.
he frowns.
“you’re passionate.” to that, you roll your eyes, and try to turn but he doesn’t let you move easily out of his grasp, just enough so that you can face away from him. his cheek presses against the back of your head.
“don’t worry about saying the wrong thing. i’ll protect you,” he offers.
“what if i’m the problem?” you add. at that, there is a tiny waver in your voice; it cracks and you clear your throat to cover it up, that and the tears forming in your eyes. his leg nudges yours to part the space in between at the knees, fitting your bodies together even more intimately as he whispers,
“you aren’t, and even if so, you’re my problem to deal with. i’ll defend you no matter what.”
and you are safe then, even from the thoughts in your own head.

izuku midoriya with a s/o who has a healing quirk
pairing: izuku midoriya x gn!reader
tags: established relationship, mentions of pain & injuries, reader's quirk hurts them, injuries, worried + angry izuku, hurt/comfort
you have a powerful healing quirk, able to heal even the worst wounds. but it comes with a drawback – whenever you heal someone, you'll feel their pain!
with izuku as your boyfriend, you have to do a lot of healing! he's constantly breaking his bones and getting injured, unable to properly control his quirk
izuku doesn't know at first that you feel his pain whenever you heal him, so he happily relies on your help whenever he's injured
but once he finds out about the drawback of your quirk, he remembers all those times you healed him when he was in unbearable pain…
izuku is angry! at you, for not telling him sooner. but mostly at himself, for not realizing you were in pain and letting this happen to you
once he knows about the side effect your quirk has, izuku doesn't want you to use it anymore!
he can't stand to see you in pain! even when you refuse to show it, he's painfully aware of it now! you're hurting and trying to hide it with a smile…
but izuku knows he can't stop you from using your quirk. it's part of who you are and he doesn't want to be a controlling boyfriend that tells you what you're allowed to do and what not
still, izuku always keeps an eye on you when you use your quirk! and if you push yourself too far, he'll be there to take care of you afterwards

Izuku x Reader
Hurt/comfort
WC: 900
Desc: Izuku's been busy lately, and at some point, it becomes too much.
Izuku and Y/N have been supportive of each other’s work since they started dating at UA, especially now that you’ve moved in together and are both pursuing your own demanding careers. You admire and respect Izuku for his dedication to his hero work, even more-so now that he’s the #1 Hero. You love him, and he loves you. Paparazzi goes insane whenever you’re seen in public together and social media admires your relationship and everyone in Japan wishes they had what you two had.
Even so, you can’t help but feel an invisible wall has been built between you two.
When Izuku comes home after night patrol and passes out, you leave for work.
When you wake up, Izuku’s leaving for an interview.
Another interview,
And another, and another, until you’re finally sitting down and eating breakfast together.
Izuku sets down your plate and sits across from you at the table.
You began speaking,
“Your mom called the other day, she was wondering if we wanted to–” Izuku cut you off,
“I don’t think I’ll have time, sorry.” He responded without letting you finish your sentence
You paused, taken aback by his audacity, “I didn’t even finish my–” Izuku ignored your inquiry and stood up from the table,
“I’m gonna go train with Todoroki, I’ll be back in awhile.” He put his dish in the sink before he walked past you. “Cya’ later”
“Uhm, bye- I guess” You mumbled.
You couldn’t help but notice he didn't properly say goodbye, nor kiss the back of your head as he used to when he left. You start to realize this has became a pattern. You put your dishes away and sit on the couch, just staring. You understand he was busy and prioritizes being a hero – but over having conversations with his girlfriend? – maybe you really were just being clingy, because the Izuku you know wouldn’t ever do that.
As you were enveloped in your thoughts, your phone rang; it was Mina.
“Hey girllll!” Mina sang through the phone
“Hey” You responded. Mina paused before replying,
“You okay?”
“Yeah, it’s stupid. I think I’m crazy.” You responded “Crazy? Why?” She asked
“I think Izuku’s been ignoring me. I get that he’s busy and everything, but he’s off today and wouldn’t even let me get a sentence out before leaving. I just- I don’t know if I’m being some annoying, clingy, girlfriend or if he’s really sick of me.” You mumbled.
“Are you serious? Midoryia’s being like that?” She scoffed, “The guy might be busy, but Jesus, he could at least talk to you.”
“I guess.” You murmured.
“Y/N, I love you, but you need to start standing up for yourself. Don’t let yourself be treated like an afterthought.” Mina sighed, “I gotta go, we’ll hang out this weekend, okay? Talk to you later!”
She hung up the phone and you laid down on the couch.
Mina was right. You weren’t always one for standing up for yourself, it was why you loved Izuku so much. Even since middle school you admired how he never let bullying override his determination for being a hero. You wished you were like him in that regard. As you reminisced everything you hated about yourself, you felt tears trailing down your cheeks. If Izuku did want to break up, what would you do? You were confused and hurt, and couldn’t tell if you were being dramatic or not. Maybe what Izuku needed was someone who didn’t need so much attention. You couldn’t stand yourself. You closed your eyes, cried, and eventually fell asleep.
The next thing you knew, the door was opening. You didn’t get up.
“Y/N?” Izuku called out.
You sighed, “Yeah?” Izuku walked into the living room, and once he saw you laying down on the couch, he knelt down in front of you with a look of guilt. “I’m so sorry, baby” He said gently as he wiped your dried tears. You sat up after he sat next to you.
“I didn’t realize how preoccupied I’ve been, I never meant to hurt you. I feel awful.” He frowned, “I could never get sick of you – you’re the furthest thing from an annoying girlfriend.” He hugged you, and you hugged him back. You missed this. “It doesn’t feel like it when you ignore me.” You mumbled into his shoulder. You could smell his cologne, and apart from the fact he was sweaty from training, it felt like home.
“You’re completely right.” He admitted “You don’t ever deserve being ignored. I hate that I get distracted. I love you, and no matter what I do otherwise, that’ll never change.” He parted from the hug and kissed you, It felt like it’s been a long time.
“It’s okay, I forgive you” You rested on his shoulder
“Next weekend I’m off,” He smiled, “Can I take you out to dinner?”
You smirked back at him, “It’s the least you could do.” You joked.
“Oh, of course” He chuckled.
Later, as you two were intertwined with each other in bed, you asked him,
“How did you know I was upset?” A good question.
“...Mina chewed my ear off.” He averted his eyes and shuddered at the memory.

like izuku, you have your own nightmares.
it’s the thing no one talks about—you aren’t in the middle of battle with him, but you’ve watched him get knocked down enough times on the nightly news that you’ve taken the batteries out of the remote and refuse to let him buy more.
you’ve never told him about what happens behind your eyes when they close. and luckily, he’s been gone when it’s woken you up in a cold sweat. you want to spare him this—the knowledge of what it’s doing to you. except tonight you are not so lucky.
your subconscious shows you the same scenes in snippets—a reel of sickeningly close calls—except here in the dream, they are not. over and over you watch the love of your life die, alone and in vain. dissolved, skewered, burned alive by countless quirks, right in front of your eyes.
you’re there and then you’re not, torn from the nightmare by familiar hands. warm palms, thrumming with the rush of blood and an elevated pulse. the sheets are too hot and wrapped around your limbs like a vice. terrified and disoriented, you fight back.
“sweetheart—” the croak comes from the outline of him, green curls made wiry by his pillow. they sway with each of your sporadic defenses that he dodges. “hey, i’m right here—”
and he is, towering over you now. shielding you instinctively from a danger his brain tells him is at his back. he’s vulnerable—you both are. the knowledge of it stops you in your tracks.
“there you go,” he murmurs, leaning down to touch his forehead to yours and believing the wrong thing, “come back to me, baby.”
the touch melts the fear that had kept you frozen, if only slightly. you reach up to him, smoothing over every inch of skin and muscle you can get your hands on. he keeps you caged there beneath him and watches you search him for something he can’t help you find.
your palm stops over the beat of his heart and nothing in you trusts the kick against your own skin. you watched him die. you watched him—
“shh, my baby.”
the freckled face you saw go too pale is warbled and distorted in your watery view, but the thick limbs that settle over you helps some. he doesn’t go dead weight—just enough to keep you here. to remind you that he is here, too.
“i can’t watch you die.” again, you mean. but he couldn’t know that.
“i’m right here,” he reminds you, pressing gentle kisses to your temple and promising nothing. he is not so cruel, even when you need him to be. “i’m right here.”
it’s too much and it won’t ever be enough—in the dark you lose the grasp you had on your strength, and you cry. you bury your face in his neck and sob until you wring yourself out dry. he’s a pillar above you, whispering his love between words that placate into your hair. only you know now how little it would take to knock him down.
“—zuku,” you can barely get it out under the weight of the burden, “i’m afraid.”
“i know, sweetheart.” he sounds far away. the fingers that brush through your hair are disembodied. “i am too.”

So glad your request are open I love your writing! Here’s a request for you, Deku x fem reader where he’s out on patrol and calls his s/o to check up on her and she doesn’t answer, so he goes home and and sees someone holding the reader hostage and he saves her. Protective worried Izuku wins my heart every time lol
I definitely got a little carried away with this one. This request was a bit similar to the last one, so I took a few liberties, but I hope you'll enjoy it all the same!

The phone buzzed for a second time in his pocket. With a distracted sigh, he pulled it out, only getting a momentary glance at the caller's I.D. Your picture lit up the screen, and he couldn't help the smirk that pulled at the corners of his lips. He moved to answer it, but someone laid a hand on his shoulder.
"Deku, the negotiator just finished the call." Detective Tsukauchi said with a grim look. "Dynamight just arrived as well."
Izuku glanced back down at the phone and declined the call with a promise to call you back once this situation had been handled.
The command center that had been hastily assembled outside of the museum buzzed with activity. Officers had scattered about, all running orders and securing the perimeter of the increasing amount of curious onlookers. Evening had set upon them, bathing the area in golden rays blended with the flashing lights of the nearby cruisers.
Both men headed towards the back of a S.W.A.T. vehicle where Dynamight stood, grumbling about something to a man right outside the truck.
"Dynamight!" Deku called to his old friend as they approached, "It's good to see you! We'll not under these conditions, I suppose."
Hearing his name on familiar lips, he tensed, and turned to glare at the bright beam of a smile being shot his way. "Of course, you'd be here," was his apparent greeting.
"I'm glad you're here," Tsukauchi said to the feisty hero with a nod. "I'm sure you've been briefed on the situation at hand."
"Yeah, a bunch of rich ditz's got themselves kidnapped during their own fundraiser." He snipped, crossing his arms. "The idiots robbing the joint made a mistake during their little heist and decided to make things worse."
Tsukauchi cleared his throat. "Um, well, yes I suppose you could put it that way." Then he turned his attention to the man Katsuki had been talking to earlier. "This is Agent DeLuca. He's our chief negotiator tonight. He'll fill you in on the rest."
"Right," the older man nodded, looking between the three of them, "I've made contact with their leader. He didn't have much to say except for a list of outrageous demands."
"Outrageous?" Izuku asked, curious.
"Yeah," the man chuckled before turning serious. "They want a helicopter landed on that roof," he pointed to the museum, "five fresh pizza's waiting in said helicopter, along with four crates of top shelf sake. They want it all within twenty-eight minutes, or they'll execute their first hostage. And by my count, we have twenty-four minutes left."
"Pizza and booze?" Katuski scoffed. "What're they playin' at?"
"Twenty-eight minutes is a pretty specific timeframe." Izuku cocked his head. "And with those kind of demands It almost seems like they're waiting for something. Stalling."
The phone in his pocket buzzed again but this time he simply reached in and turned it off, mind swirling with possible theories. They had to be aiming toward a bigger goal here. What weren't they seeing?
"Do we have eyes and ears inside?" He peeked into the truck where a wall of screens shone through.
"We managed to patch through to the security system, but they've been hacked. They're just playing the same loop on repeat. We do have a specialist currently working on overriding it, but that's gonna take time." The detective rubbed his head while he explained. "From what we can gather, they still have roughly 18 guests and staff held hostage."
"And that quirk barrier is preventing anyone from getting in," Izuku murmured, examining the building. It emitted a faint purple aura. "I bet holding that up takes a lot of stamina. That could be why they were on such a specific time frame."
"Our men tried to get through." Tsukauchi frowned. "Anyone who touched that thing ended up numb from the shock. That's why you two are here. It might be possible to break through with your quirks. The only problem is alerting the captors."
"They said they'd start shooting the moment anyone stepped foot in that building. Agent DeLuca explained. "At the moment, we're in a deadly stalemate."
Tsukauchi's phone rang, and he excused himself.
Izuku pinched his bottom lip in thought as he faced the building. There were a few ways they could go about this. With Dynamight here, it should make things a little easier. However, he needed to be sure to keep the lives of the civilians as his first priority. So maybe if he-
"Deku," Tsukauchi grabbed his shoulder, pulling him from his ruminations. "Your wife is calling."
He blinked. You were calling again. When he instinctively reached into his pocket wondering how the detective new that, he paused, finally noticing the phone in his hand. Then he noticed the deep-set frown on his face.
A million questions scrambled through his head, but he locked them down in favor of taking the phone. "Hey, is everything alright?"
"Deku, listen closely," you said quietly. Your voice didn't sound right. A slightly slurred warbled edge.
had the baby hairs on his neck on end. "You're going to…to let the men in the museum leave unscathed. You will not pursue. Do this, and everyone gets -" You hitched your breath "- everyone gets to live."
A lingering silence pressed between the two of you. Your labored breaths a loud echo to his ears. It was wrong. So very wrong.
"Are you hurt?" He finally spoke, locking eyes with a concerned detective.
A shuddered sob answered him. It locked his heart in a vice grip to hear you so frightened. So vulnerable. How long had you been like that? How many calls did you try to make to him, and he simply ignored them all? Right when you needed him most. An equal flood of guilt and rage filled his veins. He could feel the sparks of his quirk begging to be let out in the wake of his anger, but he had to reel it in for your sake.
Behind your erratic panic, he could hear it.
The faint puffs of air around your own tattered breaths. Someone was there. Someone was there with you. And if he didn't act carefully, your life would be on the line.
"You have tw-twenty minutes to either s-save the innocent people in that building or come f-find me. There's not…there's not enough time to do both. If not…" you faltered before taking in a sharp drag of air and screaming. "Don't do it, Izuku! Save them! It's a trap. There's a-"
The call abruptly ended.
He stared at the screen. Too many conflicting emotions were battling for control to think clearly. Someone, a villain, had taken you. That much he was certain. There were more men than those five stuck in the museum. But it didn't add up. Even if there was someone from this crew working from the outside, there would simply not be enough time to plan something like this on the spot. Unless…unless it had been orchestrated from the start.
"Deku!" Katsuki snatched the phone out of his hands with an annoyed growl. "Get your head out of your ass. What was that about? You sayin' there's more of these losers?"
Izuku flinched at his words, not realizing he'd been mumbling.
"It's-she…they-" he locked eyes with Katsuki, "-they have her."
He straightened, glancing between the detective and Izuku. "Explain."
And so he did.
A nervous energy he couldn't quite tamper down ran rampant through his body. He itched to just take off and leave to go find you right then and there. But there was more to this than they realized, and if he ran headlong without forethought, it could put not just you but the other hostages in danger.
"That bastard!" Katsuki snapped. "They want to divide our forces. They think they can escape that way."
Yes, Izuku figured as much, but it still didn't change the fact that you were in some slimy villain's hand. He'd already tracked your location from the phone. It pinged from home, but whether you were still with it was up in the air. Those calls he'd missed seemed to be mocking him now.
He couldn't forgive himself for that.
You were calling for help.
You were calling for help, and he didn't answer.
You were calling for help, and he didn't come the one time you truly needed him.
What kind of lousy hero was he?
"Stop that," Katsuki slapped him upside the head, non to gentle either. "I know what you're thinking idiot. This isn't your fault. You just happened to be their target."
"What?" He asked, rubbing the back of his head.
"If they actually put a few braincells together to plan this thing, then it would make sense to have a backup plan. A failsafe of sorts." He tossed a glare towards the building before focusing back on Izuku. "They must've known your route. They must've planned for you to be in the area. What better way to take you out of the equation than to create your own hostage situation? Draw the heroes away."
"I believe Dynamight's got the right idea. They have more men involved than we thought. We'll need to revise our plan." Tsukauchi turned to relay this new information to the command tent.
"We're wasting time." Izuku turned to Katsuki, eyes wide and almost pleading. "I need to go. We're on a time limit. Whatever he has planned….I have to save her."
"You don't think I know that?" He scoffed. "I can handle things here easily. I bet those dumbasses didn't expect me to show up. My route doesn't fall into this sector."
Izuku nodded, grateful that he had arrived, then paused. "Why are you here?"
"Because I had to track down that bastard mugger that managed to escape through here. And if you thought I'd let you steal my crook, then you're dead wrong." He puffed up, daring Izuku to challenge him.
"First time a mugging actually worked in our favor then." He chuckled ironically and grabbed Katsuki's shoulder, his small smile slipping. "Thank you. I'll radio you as soon as I get her back."
"Yeah, yeah," he shrugged off his hand and shooed him away. "Now get out of here before I have to show you up again."
"Wait, Deku," Tsukauchi jogged back over, "I'm coming with you."
"I appreciate it, but I'm faster airborne." Izuku explained, impatience rearing itself in the form of a harried sigh.
"I know, but you're here under our jurisdiction. This kidnapping falls under that. I'm coming." He pulled out his keys and headed towards his car. "We can't rush into this without our own plan. Dynamight can handle things on this end, but i'm coming as backup. There are too many lives at stake here. If you barge in there with quirks blazing and emotions clouding your judgment, then it could spook the boss into doing something we'd all regret."
Logically, Izuku knew this. He did. But he also felt that overstored anger directing itself towards the detective. Izuku could handle a hostage situation. He's handled them before, and he most likely will have to handle them again. Then the rational side to his brain told him it would be good to have backup in case things did end up going wrong. Regardless, he couldn't waste any more time by arguing, so he simply nodded and got in the car.
The moment Tsukauchi started the car, he peeled out past the gathered crowd, straight towards Izuku's home. The same home he shared with you.
The house was silent aside from the low buzz of the television in the other room. It played some show Izuku had been watching earlier before he left for his evening patrol. A hero documentary he's made you watch hundreds of times already. You absentmindedly listened to it as you cooked dinner, making sure to make leftovers for him to reheat once he returned from work.
After making a plate for yourself and storing some in the fridge for him, you dumped everything in the sink for a soak with the intent to come back later to clean. The meal smelled good if your rumbling stomach had anything to say about it. Washing up your hands, you took your plate into the dining room where you could finish watching the show.
On the way there, the lights flickered overhead before the power went out. You paused, staring around in the darkness to see if it would come back on. With the television off, the lifelessness seem quite foreboding as you stood all alone. Left in the quiet of the apartment, you set the plate down and headed into the living room where your phone sat on the coffee table. A quick call to the power company should clear this up.
When you stepped into the living room, using muscle memory to feel your way to the coffee table, the lights suddenly flickered back to life. You blinked rapidly to readjust your eyes as light flooded your vision. Glancing around the empty room, you wondered what had made the power surge like that.
"Weird," you whispered to yourself as you picked up the remote to turn the television back on.
One look at the flatscreen, and you gasped, dropping the remote. A dark, murky shape loomed behind you in the reflection, and before you even had time to react, a sweaty hand wrapped around your mouth and pulled you right off your feet.
You were slammed down into the carpet with a hard smack to your side. The attacker didn't give you much reprieve as you were hoisted back up and thrown onto the coffee table, smashing a vase full of flowers and knocking everything off as he dragged you across the wood surface.
It took a few seconds for your brain to pick up on what happened, and you shoved your legs under his arms and kicked as hard as you could in the groin. He yelped and let go, stumbling back into the couch, clutching himself.
That defense only bought you a limited amount of time. You scrambled off the table and landed on your knees, still a bit disoriented. The phone had landed underneath it, undamaged, in a stroke of luck. Dropping to your stomach, you reached under and nabbed the device.
You knew exactly who to call.
The intruder's hands latched onto your ankle just as you gripped the phone. He pulled your leg so hard you were sure something popped out of its socket. You screamed and twisted over, kicking at him wildly.
He didn't bother trying to hide his face. The man towered over you. He sported a neatly trimmed silver beard with matching square eyes that drilled an icy glare into your own.
"Stop fucking moving!" He growled as you kicked his knee and he doubled over, releasing you.
"Get away!" you screamed out, scurrying to your feet and dashing around the couch in an effort to make it to the door. "Help!" With the phone in your hands, you dialed in the number. He could respond faster than any police. And you would just feel better hearing his voice.
The phone rang twice before it disconnected. There wasn't much time to think about it as you made it to the door. You turned the knob, but a much larger hand snatched your wrist at the same time. The door slammed shut along with your hope.
He towered over you for a terrifying moment before he rammed you into the door. Your body dropped to the floor like a sack of rocks. Pain seared up against your spine where you had impacted.
The phone landed out of reach, corner of the screen smashed. You just prayed it would work.
Still disoriented, you didn't react much when his burly hands seized your throat and easily lifted you off the floor. Panic set in. You didn't even realize what had happened until it was too late. When it did catch back up, you scratched anything you could reach in an exhausted effort to release the pressure on your neck. The only sounds that managed to escape were wheezing gasps that held no form.
Regardless of how this scenario ended, you knew it wouldn't end well for you. This man had strength on his side. Fighting him would be a mistake, so you had to figure out a way to escape. Or, at the very least, call for help. Unless you could reach your phone, you were screwed.
Slippered feet struggled to try to pry him off you. His fingers only seemed to tighten further. Black ebbed at the corners of your vision, and pain blossomed up your head. Thinking, let alone, fighting seemed nearly impossible.
As your swirling vision dimmed, your foot managed to connect with his stomach. You dug your heel in as hard as you could. The fingers around your neck loosened slightly, and the only thing you could think to do was bite down on his hand.
He yelped and threw you against the door where you slumped forward onto your knees, gasping for air. The phone sat within reach, but first you swung out, and sucker punched him right where it hurts most for a second time. He roared and fell backward.
You used the opportunity to dive for your phone and redial Izuku's number, praying he would answer quickly. With a tight grip on the phone, you launched to your feet, swaying dangerously as you stumbled for balance. That hit to your head did more damage than you thought. You were almost sure you had a concussion.
Turning to the door, you glanced down and your heart sunk. It had gone to voicemail again. What was happening? He always answered.
"You're not going anywhere!" He yelled, staggering back to his feet.
Shit. You couldn’t think clearly and wasted too much time stumbling around. Now, he stood between you and the door, giving you quite the death glare.
"Please, just take whatever you want!" you tensed as he stepped closer. "Just…please just let me go."
"That's kinda hard when it's you that I need, now ain't it sweetheart?" He sneered, grabbing hold of the collar of your shirt and twisting you around into a headlock. "Now come on, we've got a schedule to keep."
He squeezed hard, forcing you to shuffle forward, away from the door. He wanted to keep you here? Why? If this had been kidnapping, you were sure he would've taken you somewhere else. Why keep you here unless… Actually, you didn't want to think of those implications.
"Sit," he ordered, not giving you much choice as he shoved you into one of the dining room chairs.
You could try to run again, but you doubted you'd get very far before he caught up to you. And you weren't too keen on figuring out if he really wanted to keep you alive or not. He already looked pissed off as it was.
"What do you want?" you asked, hating how wobbly your voice sounded.
"I want you to make a call," he said, placing a hand on the back of the chair and the table, essentially trapping you between them, "to that little hero of yours."
He wanted you to call Izuku? That was strange. Usually, villains try to steer clear of heroes, not invite them to their crimes. He must have some plan to try to lure Izuku here to do who knows what. As much as you wanted him to come, you also didn't want to walk him right into a trap.
You steeled your nerves and glared up at him. "No."
"Oh, so you wanna play hero now, do ya?" He grinned. "Think you're ready to play in the big leagues, huh? Let's see if ya are!"
His hand moved too quickly. You nearly tumbled out of the chair as his palm struck your cheek. Aching streaks of pain weaved across your stinging skin.
"Don't test me." He leaned so close you could smell the tobacco on his breath. "You're gonna want to make that call, sweetheart, trust me."
He leaned across the table and dragged a large duffle bag into view. How long that had been sitting there, you weren't sure. You actually weren't even sure how he got into the locked apartment in the first place. It seemed a little late to worry about that now, though. With a sadistic smirk, he unzipped the bag and let you have a peek inside. It nearly made your heart stop.
"Now," He pulled out a stack of notecards from his coat and forced them into your hands. "Your job is simple. All you have to do is read these cards. Simple enough, eh?"
As you scanned the cards, your stomach flipped. Did he really expect you to read this? You were too distracted to see him pull out your phone until he grabbed your wrist and used your thumb to unlock it. He put it on speaker as the phone rang. It barely rang once before it went straight to voicemail for a third time. You were starting to worry Izuku had been hurt and unable to answer somehow.
"Hmm," the villain stared at the phone thoughtfully. "Guess he doesn't care so much about ya, huh?"
"Don't say that! You don't know anything about him!" You spit out, then bit your tongue, knowing you shouldn't stoop to his barbs.
"Well, I know he's too busy to answer ya darlin." He chuckled and dialed in a new number. "I'm sure the detective will be more willing to talk, yeah?"
Detective? You only knew one detective. It still struck you as odd that he would call the police on himself. But with the cards and what he had stored in that bag, you were starting to understand your role in all this.
The phone rang, and this time, someone did answer. You refused to say anything. It would be too dangerous to bring him here. Not with what he had planned.
That turned out to be the wrong decision as the man reached into his coat and brought out a handgun. He used the barrel to tap the cards.
"Deku," you whispered, glaring up at the criminal.
"Y/N? It's unusual to hear from you at this hour. Are you alright?" He sounded concerned.
"I…need to speak to Deku," you blinked hard. "Please."
A notable pause hung in the air before he hesitantly spoke. "…alright."
Tsukauchi was a smart man. One of the few who you thought could hold a candle to Izuku's analytical skills. If he could already tell something was wrong, then Izuku would pick up on it immediately.
Suddenly, his voice came on and threw you for a loop. They were already together? It must have to do with whatever these cards meant. It could be the reason he didn't answer. Izuku could be caught up in a case already. But the real question is how did the man know that, let alone know you would have Tsukauchi's number.
"Hey, is everything alright?" He sounded confused with a concerned undertone.
The cards shook in your hands as you scanned them again, debating just going off script. But with that gun looming in front of your face, you wisely decided to play nice.
"Deku, listen closely," you began quietly, knowing your voice had a slight quiver he would undoubtedly pick up on. "You're going to…let the men in the museum leave unscathed. Do this and everyone gets," those next words caught in your throat, "everyone gets to live."
They were using you as some sort of ploy to try to escape whatever situation this gang had found themselves in. Everything about this was just wrong. Now, Izuku would have to worry about rescuing you while also trying to do his job. You loathed every minute of it.
"Are you hurt?" His voice, quiet and low, betrayed the calm air he tried to maintain. A characteristic tone you've heard before. Anger and frustration just barely concealed.
The fact that he knew you were in danger filled you with a sort of relief that now he could finally do something about it. He could fix this. He always managed to fix things.
You tried to answer, but only a garbled sob of mixed syllables spilled from your mouth. It took you a moment to compose yourself again as the man huffed at you, tapping the cards impatiently with his gun.
"You have tw-twenty minutes to decide." More disturbing things were written, but you needed to warn him about what kind of trap he was walking himself into. "Don't do it, Izuku! Save them! It's a trap. There's a-"
The phone crunched in half under his brute strength and he threw it against the wall. Despite your very real fear, you managed to smirk at him. In hindsight, making a man with a gun angry was probably the worst thing to do in your situation. You learned that the hard way as he twirled the gun to his other hand and with a violent swing, he whipped the side of your head, knocking you clean off your chair.
Head throbbing, you clutched the gash just above your temple. A warm, sticky trail of dark red dripped down to your cheek.
"Got a loud mouth, don't ya?" he grinned and hauled you up only to drag you across the floor and dump your ragdoll form into the middle of the living room. You couldn't hide the panic as he knelt by your face, plopping the black duffle from the table next to him. "I'll just leave ya with a little present to greet your hero with. How does that sound. A nice parting gift."
The drive couldn't have taken any longer in Izuku's opinion. Even if Tsukauchi flew down the road, he still wasn't getting there fast enough. A few times, he had been tempted to just jump out and fly the rest of the way there.
He bounced his leg impatiently, glaring out the window as the silence seemed to permeate the air around them.
"We'll get her back," Tsukauchi broke the silence first.
Izuku turned his attention back to his phone. The three missed calls from you berated him each time he looked. He willed his leg to still, but all that pent up adrenaline didn't have any other outlet to escape from.
"This is my fault," he mumbled.
"No, it's not. There's no way you could have predicted this. No one could." Tsuhauchi sighed, turning sharply onto the next street. This was a conversation he'd had with the young man on multiple occasions. He was starting to understand how All Might felt, practically raising the boy through high school. "The only people to blame are the criminals responsible. You know that as well as I do. Thinking that way is only falling into their trap."
He made a noncommittal sound, turning back to obsessing over the missed calls. The rest of the ride was made in silence. Izuku had gotten so lost in thought that he didn't realize they'd parked until Tsukauchi opened the door.
Silently cursing, he blinked back into reality and got out of the car. The two of them headed for the apartment building. Your last known location was here. Though Izuku had doubts that you'd still be here. Most kidnappers took their victims to secondary locations.
They burst through the lobby, startling a poor woman taking her dog out for a walk. She jumped out of the way as they rushed past, yelping when she saw Tsukauchi's drawn gun. They paid her no mind, set on reaching their target.
Izuku took the lead. He raced up the stairs with a spark of his quirk, only stopping when he reached the right floor. Tsukauchi trailed up behind him at his fastest pace. He paused when the door came into view. Closed and undamaged. Whatever lay beyond might be an entirely different story, and it had his heart racing with fear.
"Take it slow," Tsukauchi huffed when he reached the last step. "We don't know what's waiting for us."
"I know," Izuku nodded, taking a spot in front of the door.
He signaled for the detective to take the side. Whoever was in there was sure to be expecting Izuku. He would have to act quickly. When they were in position he readied Fa-jin to break down the door with a strong kick of his leg, but the moment he lifted it, that sharp stab of Danger Sense screamed at him. He tensed and prepared to dodge whatever threat was coming his way, but when nothing came, he set his foot down, examining the door with a critical eye.
"Something's not right," he whispered, hand gently grabbing the handle.
The knob turned slowly in his hand and opened the door just slightly. Danger Sense lit up his spine once again. He drew in a sharp breath when he finally saw where the danger lay.
Opening the door any further could trigger whatever nasty surprise waited inside. He let go of the handle in favor of leaning closer to try to get a glimpse of the room. From his narrow line of sight, he didn't see anything amiss. He would need to see further somehow.
A shimmering line of wire ran across the entryway.
Trap, his mind so helpfully supplied.
"Here," Tsukauchi pulled out a small mirror with a telescopic rod attached. "Use this."
Izuku took it without question. The police had all sorts of gadgets at their disposal. He was just thankful Tsukauchi was here.
As discreetly as he could, he slipped the mirror partly into the doorframe. It gave him a full view of the living room. What he saw nearly made his racing heart stall.
The room was a mess. The coffee table had been kicked over, and the couch pushed off to the side to make room for the single dining chair plopped directly into the center of the disaster. The worst part was the person he cared for most sitting… no, tied to the chair. You were slumped forward and seemingly out cold. A gash in the side of your head trailed dark sticky blood down the side of your face and onto your shirt. Even from a distance, he could tell it was still wet. Still fresh.
You were draped in a throw blanket, which he found odd. It sent alarm bells off in his head. On the other hand, this entire situation was just one blaring alarm.
He was so close. All he needed to do was figure out a way to get to you without tripping any booby traps.
Angling the mirror down, he tracked where the nearly invisible wire led to. His eyes followed it across the floor and right up to you. It threaded under the blanket that had been wrapped across your chest. As he leaned in further to try to see you better, the door creaked slightly.
It caught your attention.
You stirred with a groan and when you looked up, he could see the duct tape sealed over your mouth. As you straightened in your seat, the blanket slipped from your shoulders.
He finally realized why the wire led to you.
"Tsukauchi," Izuku whispered, a slight tremble to his voice. "I need you to evacuate the building and…and call the bomb squad."
It took a few precious minutes, but Izuku had exited the building and now stood on the fire escape, examining the window. Another wire had been threaded around the handle. If he lifted it, it could trigger the bomb. He would need to go about this carefully.
The only good thing was that the top part of the window seemed to be unaffected. After scoping out the interior, he'd come to the conclusion that the man had fled. A smart choice. If you strap your hostage with an explosive, you don't want to be around for the aftermath. A dumb choice to target someone Izuku loved. He'd find the man later, that much he vowed. Right now, he just needed to get you as far from that bomb as possible.
He took a deep breath and in one solid strike, he shattered the top portion of the window. That startled you enough to flinch in your seat, pulling the wires taut.
"Hey, it's alright," Izuku called out softly as he navigated through the window, careful of any more surprises. "It's just me. It's Izuku."
You deflated a little, nodding to show you understood.
The moment he landed, he carefully picked his way through the room until he came face-to-face with you. Your eyes carefully tracked his movement, wary of the various strings attached to the heavy vest you were wearing. He knelt in front of the chair, cupping your bruised cheeks. At the soft contact, you squeezed your eyes shut to blink away the tears.
"Hey, hey, it's okay. I'm right here," He kept his voice low and comforting as he offered you a small smile. "I'll get you out of this, I promise."
Then he dropped his attention down to the explosive. They had strapped you into a Kevlar vest with the clunky explosive sewn right into the fabric. The most worrisome thing was the clock. The numbers were steadily counting down.
Nearly four minutes left.
A time limit.
You did say he had twenty minutes to decide. Didn't the criminals inside the museum say something similar? They must've been working off the same clock. No wonder they gave such a specific time frame.
"Don't worry," he said, looking up when you made a muffled whine of a cry. "I've got people coming to help. People who can disarm this thing in no time." He glanced at the kitchen where you kept the knives. "I just need to get it off you first."
Your reaction caught him off guard. You wildly shook your head, careful of the wires pulling around you. He turned back to you, eyes wide, and hands held out in a pacifying gesture. You only seemed to grow more desperate, shaking your head faster.
"Hey," he laid a hand on your cheek to stop you and forced you to look in his eyes. "Okay, okay."
As you fought back your ragged breaths through your nose, he gently gripped the edges of the tape and slowly peeled it back. You winced as the tape pulled against your skin. The moment your mouth could move, you went into a panicked rant.
"You can't! You can't cut it," you cried, words jumbling over each other as you tried to push them all out at once. "There's a- a failsafe inside the vest. You cut it, and it triggers the bomb. It's the same for these wires," you eyed the wires all connected to various parts of the room. "Any of them pulls too tightly, and it explodes. But the time limit - oh my god, Izuku. It's almost up, I don't - there's no time! There's no time!"
He wrapped his scarred fingers around your chin to center your focus and shushed you before you could run out of breath. "It's going to be okay. I'm here now. I'll get you out of this." His eyes tracked over the vest again, scanning every part of it. He didn't want to tell you that the bomb squad would be at least ten more minutes. There was no time to wait for them. "I'll be right back. Trust me, I promise I'll get you out of this."
If your hands were untied, you would've reached out to stop him. Now that he had come, you were terrified of him leaving. He had a comforting presence that everyone had come to rely on as a hero. He always kept his word. If anyone could get you out of this nightmare, it would be Izuku. You just had to trust he knew what to do. Though the bomb strapped to your chest had built up a raw terror in your chest, making it hard to get even a solid breath in.
Izuku, true to his word, only disappeared for a moment before he returned, kneeling at your side with a knife. "I can disarm it."
Could he? You didn't want to doubt his skills, but you also didn't remember him ever working with bombs like this before.
"Didn't I tell you about those few weeks I spent with SWAT?" He smirked as if reading your mind. "Taught me all sorts of cool stuff." There was a hard edge to his casual tone as he pried open the front of the device to reveal the bevy of wires inside. "This was nothing compared to the kinds of stuff we did. I'll have you out in no time."
You nodded. It was about as much movement the vest would allow at the moment. You could scarcely believe a small contraption like this could be your doom in a matter of mere minutes.
"Izuku," you whispered, looking up at the ceiling as if that would put any distance from you and this death machine. "I'm sorry."
"For what?" He asked, eyes flitting up to meet yours before he refocused on the wires. "This isn't your fault."
Silence fell over the room as you absorbed that. Your fingers held a death grip on the arms of your chair, pulling against the restraints. It felt as if the room grew smaller. The beeping only seemed to be getting louder by the second. Panic had nestled itself deep in your chest, spreading throughout your body as the seconds passed.
"H-how much longer?" You dared to peer down at the clock, angling your head to try to see for yourself.
He didn't answer. You watched his fingers hover over the wires, subtly glancing at the timer but refusing to speak. In other words, not long.
"How much, Izuku?" you said again, gritting your teeth.
"Two minutes," he finally ground out. "I've almost got this figured out. I just need to make sure this one is- it should be…" he trailed off, as his finger followed where the wire connected.
Two minutes.
That wasn't a lot of time. You both knew that much.
"Izuku, I don't want you dying too. Please, just go." You warbled out, straining your head up to the ceiling again to try to stop the ebb of tears. "I don't want you dying for me."
"No one is dying tonight," Izuku chose a wire and locked eyes with you. That determination you'd grown so used to seeing cemented on his face. He looked so confident, you almost believed anything was possible. Hell, maybe it was in a world with someone as determined as him. "Are you ready?"
Drawing in a forced breath, you chewed on your lip and nodded. He hesitated for just a moment before bending the wire and cutting it with the knife. The two of you sat in complete silence, breaths held as he stared at the timer. The numbers stopped just before the minute mark, and relief sagged through his body.
"See, I told you I-" the words died on his tongue as the clock beeped twice and suddenly began counting down at double the speed. "-shit!"
"Get out of here!" You tried to shove him away with what little movement you had in the restraints, wires be damned if it meant he could still survive. "Please, save yourself! Go!"
"NO!" he pulled at the bundle of wires, muttering as his eyes darted between them. "I made a promise, and I refuse to break it! There's no way I'd ever leave you!"
He picked a wire and sliced through it. You squeezed your eyes shut with a whimper.
The beeping stopped again with eight seconds to spare.
Izuku froze, body tense as he stared at the machine, daring it to start again. After a few terrifying seconds, he looked up at you, wide-eyed and slightly shaky. He swallowed, setting his face into a more composed look as he offered you a small smile.
"It worked." He breathed out.
Those unbidden tears leaked from your eyes as you drooped your head froward with a heavy sigh of relief. All that terror that you were storing had nowhere to go. Every part of you buzzed with adrenaline. You were quite literally shaking in your socks.
"Hey," he set down the knife and found your chin. "Are you okay?"
"Still got a bomb strapped to me so 'okay' is a bit relative at the moment." You coughed a harsh chuckle out. Maybe it was the frayed nerves trying to find an outlet out of your system, but you laughed again, harder this time, your body just expelling all your emotions out in the form of near hysteric laughter.
"Uh, right," he mirrored your smile and easily unhooked all the wires connected from your vest to objects around the room. Now that the main trigger had been deactivated, these were just decorations. "I think I'll let the professionals handle this vest. They should be here any minute. But I can at least get you out of those restraints."
Using the knife, he easily tore through the tape to free your arms and legs. When you had freedom of movement again, you grabbed his sleeve and pulled him close, careful of the disarmed bomb on your chest. It was still an explosive, afterall.
"Thank you," you whispered, "thank you for not leaving.
He brushed the hair out of your face and placed a soft kiss to the crown of your head. "I told you, I made a promise, and I never break my promises." Then he pulled back to give you a pout. "But please, don't ever tell me to leave you like that ever again. I could never even think of doing something like that. I would never abandon you, you know that, right?"
The way he looked at you made you feel like you'd kicked a puppy. But in your mind, you just wanted to protect him, too. For the moment, though, you simply nodded and buried your face into his chest, knowing you were safe with him. That you would always be safe with him.
It took another six minutes before the squad arrived and another ten tense minutes with Izuku gripping your hand the entire time to safely remove the bomb. As soon as it slipped off, you rushed into Izuku's arms, trying to entwine yourself as deep as you could with him.
"What about the other hostages? The criminals, too?" you asked, twisting your head up to look at him. "The ones you were supposed to let go?"
"Kacchan, uh, Dynamight handled it." He assured you. "He didn't even need any help taking them down. I think they were counting on this scenario working in their favor. The hostages are safe, and the criminals are in custody."
"Even…" you pinched the fabric of his uniform between your fingers, dropping your gaze to stare at the stitchwork.
"We'll find him. I won't let him get away with this." He assured you, tightening his own hold on you. "But right now, all you need to worry about is getting some rest. Well, actually, we need to get this -" he ghosted his fingertips over the cut above your temple, "-looked at first."
"I'm fine." you waved him off.
"Yeah, you will be," he agreed, pulling you over to the medic who had set up shop on the dining table, just waiting for you. "Once we get you fixed up."
With a small sigh, you sat in one of the chairs, facing the medic. Izuku, who you still had a hold of his sleeve, moved to stand behind you.
"Are you going to leave? I mean, I guess you should. There are other people out there who need you too. And with this whole mess, I'm sure there's a lot of-"
The words were just spilling out of you now, and in the back of your mind, you realized you sounded just like Izuku. You only managed to stop when he bent over and lightly bumped his forehead against yours.
"Take a breath," he gave you a fond smirk, "I'm not going anywhere. Like I said, Kacchan handled it. The only place I need to be right now is by your side."
He stood hunched just inches from your face, and all you could do was stare into his eyes. There were so many emotions swirling through those big green irises, but the biggest one shining through was his sincerity. A solace you didn't realize you needed until just this moment. The warmth he emitted was so comfortable, and the sheer exhaustion from your ordeal had you leaning back into the chair with a tired nod.
"Okay, I trust you," you mumbled, pulling his arm down so you could hug it. "You're a really good hero, Izuku."
He blushed at the soft comment and glanced at the paramedic trying to busy herself with getting her supplies out, but even she couldn't help the little smile that played on her lips.
"She's right, you know," the medic chimed in, gently cleaning your cheek of the blood. "I'd say that was the work of a top-class hero. You should be proud."
Izuku rubbed the back of his head. Years in the field and still hearing something like that overwhelmed his heart so he decided to focus back on you. Your hands were interlocked with his and casually fiddlin with his bony fingers.
A lot that could have gone wrong tonight, and he knew he would be certain to go over every detail in full to make sure those mistakes would never happen again. Not if he was going to be a hero that could protect not just you, but everyone.
Right now, though, he put his analysis on the back burner and turned his full attention to what was most important.
You.

HOLLOW HEART
Pro-Hero Bakugo x f!reader
The dynamic duo of Dynamight and Deku are unstoppable, climbing the hero charts like they always dreamed of as kids. Their journeys were tough, but offered them the world - fame, fortune, protection of their family and friends, a comfortable hero life. The recent increase in crime around Tokyo kept their entire sector busy, sending heroes out non-stop, desperate to keep the statistics as low as possible to maintain a clean reputation. When a nearby sector is requesting assistance, the boys are tasked with a mission to inspect a villain's lair in a deserted area outside of the city. Reports have noted people going missing, specifically with rare quirks. With plenty of other heroes being unavailable, you're chosen to tag along with the duo for the night operation. Everything is going according to plan until the villain lands a surprise attack, resulting in the your kidnapping and whisking you away through a mysterious portal. It's been a month since your disappearance with no help of the hero agency. Bakugo and Midoriya take it into their own hands and are determined to get you back - no matter how long or what it takes.
Prepare for the heartbreaking journey of Bakugo battling with his feelings when it's too late...or is it? :)
- All Class 1A characters are 22/23 years old and pro heroes - Dynamight is 4th, Deku is 5th and Reader is 37th - Reader is female with she/her pronouns - Reader has an energy manipulation quirk - Reader's hero type is "The Kinetic Hero" (i.e. - "Explosion Hero," "Gravity Hero," etc.) - Bakugo's "nickname" for reader is Lite-Brite (a pun on her quirk)
Inspired by the song "Dreamstate" by Dayseeker! Always told me to keep you close, the feeling's fading when you're a ghost I dream of colors that light your face but real life showed me it takes away 'Cause every time I wake up I'm waiting for a miracle And maybe when the night comes, I'll find you in another world So how do I live in a dreamstate? When nothing is real when I'm awake The sun rises but I know I'm afraid I'm living in a dreamstate

comfort after a nightmare
pairing: izuku midoriya x gn!reader
summary: after a nightmare, you sneak into izuku's room and he helps to comfort you!
tags: wholesome fluff, bit of angst to comfort, forehead kiss, platonic/romantic relationship (unspecified), cuddling, protective!izuku, reader has a bad dream, crying (reader)
“you’re trembling… what happened?”
the moment you opened the door to izuku's dorm room, he immediately noticed something was off. it was the middle of the night and you were shaking, hurdled in a blanket and looking distressed. izuku quickly sat up in his bed and rubbed his eyes, patting on the free spot on his bed, where you soon sat down next to him.
“i… i had a nightmare…”
you felt so stupid for letting something that was just a dream get to you like this. but you couldn't help but still be terrified after what you had dreamed of. even if it wasn't real, the fear you felt now was certainly the real thing!
“it's alright…”
izuku gently wrapped an arm around you and pulled you into a hug. his strong arms held you close to him, as he softly spoke to you.
“it was just a dream. whatever scared you can't hurt you anymore. not while i'm around!”
you felt tears of relief in your eyes, but before they could threaten to spill out, you closed your eyes and cuddled closer to izuku. the boy didn't say a thing, simply holding you, until you were ready to say something.
but when he noticed how silent you had become after a couple minutes, izuku gently shifted you in his arms, to get a better look at your face. and sure enough, you had fallen asleep again. izuku smiled and pressed a gentle kiss on your forehead.
“sleep well, you have nothing to worry about anymore. you are safe with me…”

TW/ Suic.dal and/or Sad and/or depressed reader
— HURT COMFORT FIC.
DISCLAIMER: This is aimed towards me when I get into those extremely low moods and just feel like crying or worse LOL. I ask that you don’t vent or say that this made your feelings worse or negative things etc. as this was meant to comfort my own emotions. However if this made you feel better or you relate you’re welcome to comment so. This fic is aimed to make people feel better not worse so if you know it might trigger you just scroll past, or read something happier!
If you feel suic.dal please call a hotline if you can or talk to someone who won’t put you down / make you feel worse for your emotions.
My thing is when I get into those…. moods. I get soft, in sort of a self sacrificing way, low energy, “Oh? You want this? Here! No, No I’m happier if you have it!” sort of way.. because I know I’m just too tired and I’ve given you so you know? If I can’t fix myself I’d rather leave everyone happy than angry. But what kills me is when someone notices. Especially if it’s a friend or someone I love.
So imagine them… just…
“Hey, Love?” They ask in such a gentle tone like treading on ice about to break.
“Yes?” You reply not thinking much. But after a long silence you finally look up from whatever you’re doing. They give you that look of ‘I want to say something but I don’t know how to say it’ so you give them a soft smile, “It’s okay darling, whatever it is I won’t be mad.”
“You feel off.” The words come out faster than they can collect their thoughts together. Making you look at them wide eyed confused. “I mean… you just… seem sort of sad? Are… you okay? You can talk to me you know that right?”
You go to answer but your voice is just… vanished? so you’re stuck making that sort of fish face where you look like you’re speaking, your mouth is opening and closing, but nothing is coming out. “Oh.” The softest oh from your mouth as the soft gentle persona you’ve had on for a while… breaks. “I’m… I’m okay?” You say it like a question, as your voice breaks and you can feel the tears you’re trying so hard to push down come back up. The back of your throat feels thick and heavy like it has a weight tied to it. “I.. I swear I’m fine! I have no idea why…” and as you’re explaining yourself tears, hot and heavy as you sob. They quickly rush towards you gently crouching down in front of where you’re sitting.
“Hey.. It’s okay if you’re sad or upset you know? It’s okay to cry, you’re allowed to feel bad. I’m not sure what’s going on but I’m here for you okay? Right here.” They say softly not touching you until you reach towards them first like you’re as breakable as the prettiest glass sculpture. When you finally reach for that hug, it feels… so good. That hug that reminds you that someone cares, that you don’t have to hold it in all by yourself, that even when things get so bad or you’re always second best to everyone else, someone cares enough to hold you, to comfort you as you sob until you get tired.
They just hold you as you cry, no need to explain now or later you only need to feel comforting knowing that if your body collapses into a puddle of emotions someone is there to collect you afterwards.
The ‘them’ in question; COVE HOLDEN, IZUKU MIDORIYA, OCHAKO URARAKA, derek suarez, cliff holden, uzumaki naruto, mitsuri kanroji, tanjiro kamado. + anyone else you want/can think of!

What happens when you get burned
Izuku Midoriya x (gn)reader
I decided to write a little hurt comfort piece that came to me while I was in the shower. Am I working on this instead of my drafts? Maybe but shut up okay. I have to write this before it leaves me. Also I am writing this on my phone because my laptop is ancient and being a pain in the ass.
This takes place in an AU where UA is a university. Reader and Izuku have been together since reader’s third/final year and Izuku’s second year. They live together and reader is a pro hero working under Mirko and Izuku is in his third and final year. Mirko and reader have a strong mentor and student/slightly maternal relationship. Reader also has a quirk based off of a honey badger but it isn’t super described.
Warnings: hurt/comfort, vague descriptions of violence, mentions of blood and burns, Izuku is soft as all hell, non-sexual nudity on the reader’s part, reader’s parents aren’t around for whatever reason, there is a high chance of reader cursing (it’s me writing this come on), reader has issues accepting and asking for help, also reader has a white streak near the front of their hair because of their quirk. (It’s based on a honey badger, I’m not sure if I describe it much though)
It was a few weeks after your boyfriend, Izuku, had moved into your apartment and you two had fallen into a nice little routine. You and Izuku would leave the house around the same time each morning, him going to university and you in your hero gear on your way to work. He would get home after getting off from his work study about half and hour before you would. You would get home at 6:30 on the dot or you would text him if you were going to be late for whatever reason. It was 7:45 and you weren’t home yet, you weren’t even answering your phone.
To say Izuku was worried would be an understatement. He was pacing your living room as he tried to call your cell for the nth time. His teeth dug into his thumb nail in worry as he continued to pace your living room. He eventually goes to your shared bedroom, deciding he was going to grab his jacket and go out looking for you.
It was then that your key could be heard jingling softly outside the door as you struggle to unlock it. The door swings open as you call out into the apartment with labored breath, “Honey? I’m home.”
You limp into the apartment, favoring your right leg while holding your right side with your left hand. You looked like you had been through hell, you’re hero suit is torn up, you are covered in scattered bruises and cuts, blood is splattered across your entire being and you are covered in dirt and dried sweat. Izuku comes rushing from the bedroom, dropping his jacket as soon as he sees you.
“Oh my god! Baby, are you alright?” He asks as he quickly joins your side, wrapping your arm over his shoulders while pulling you gently to lean against him so that he can support you. He pulls you into a gentle yet tight hug, relieved that you are alive and home at last. He presses a gentle kiss to your cheek while caressing your other one gently as he looks at you with a mix or relief and concern in his stunning green eyes.
“I’m sorry I’m late. I got caught up in a big fight at work, civilians and heroes alike were all hurt pretty badly and my phone was dead so I couldn’t text you. I’m sorry, honey.” You say, breathing still heavy as you lean against him, finally taking all weight off of your injured leg.
He gives you a soft smile at your apology before saying, “What matters is that you’re home and safe, my love. How are you doing? Are you hurt anywhere too badly?” He asks as concern for you takes over. He gently caresses the back of your head as he questions you, softly resting his head on yours as you lean against him. You let out a noise that sounds similar to a mix of a cough and a laugh before you answer.
“I’m pretty banged up to be honest, the worst are the burns on my right side and right leg. I got patched up but all the healing heroes were exhausted and I kept telling them to prioritize other heroes and civilians since I was one of the less injured believe it or not. By time they got back to me the best they could do was bandage me up. Once I finally got home the elevator was broken so I had to make it up two flights of stairs on my own.” You chuckle out the last part humorlessly at your bad luck.
He winces at the mention of your burns, knowing they must be unbelievably painful, his expression grows more concerned at your mention of making it up the stairs by yourself in this state. “I’m so sorry, sweetie. Is there anything I can do to help? I’m not sure how much I can help with the pain but I’ll do whatever I can for you.”
“Can you help me to the couch?” You ask clearly exhausted as you lean into his comforting touch. At this request he practically carries you to the couch, being mindful of all of your injuries before setting you down into the plush cushions as gently as possible.
“Are you comfortable there? Do you need any water or medicine? Just say the word and I’ll take care of it for you.” He asks wanting to make you as comfortable as possible.
“That would be great, you know there the pain meds are right?” You ask breathing deeply to cope with the pain as your eyebrows knit together.
“With the med kit, under the bathroom sink.” He responds as he heads to the bathroom quickly to grab the pain meds. He returns with the meds and a glass of water moments later. Izuku helps you drink and hands you the meds for you to take.
He sits next to you on the couch and gently caresses your arm. “If you need anything else or want anything at all, let me know and I’ll take care of it.” He says soothingly to you, concern seeping into his tone.
“Thank you, Izu.” You sigh out as the meds take effect and ease the pain.
“Anytime, sweetheart. Just get some rest, okay?” He says as he gently pulls you into his lap, needing to hold you close after being so worried about you and the emotional roller coaster of you getting home. He tries to make you as comfortable as you can be as your quirk causes you to slip into unconsciousness for a bit to let you heal some of your soreness and more minor injuries. He watches you as you rest against him with a worried expression, he has never seen you this injured before in his entire time of knowing you. You’re thicker and tougher skin protecting you from a lot of worse injuries but this is something else. He can’t help but wonder just who or what could have possibly done this to you.
You wake up about an hour later, shifting slightly. Izuku notices you are finally awake and moves the white chunk of hair near the front out of your face and gently caresses your cheek as you wake up.
“Hey, did you get some rest? Are you feeling any better?” He asks with a deeply concerned tone as he gives you a soft smile to try and comfort you.
“I’m still in pain from some of my injuries but the overall soreness is gone. I was going to try and take a shower to get all of this grime off of me.” You say as you try to stand up before quickly wincing and falling back down into Izuku’s lap. Luckily for you he caught you quickly with a worried look on his face as he gently guided you back to him.
“How about I take you to the bathroom?” He asks wanting to help you as much as he can.
“I don’t want to bother you with it. I can make it, just give me a second.” You say dismissing his offer.
“It’s not a bother at all, my love. Anything you need I’ll take care of for you, I’ll help you in any way I can.” Your comfort is the most important thing in the world to him, he loves you and seeing you in pain is agonizing for him. If he could trade places with you right now he would but he knows he can’t. He helps you stand as you wrap one of your arms over his broad shoulders. He would carry you if it weren’t for where your burns were located, preventing him from doing so.
“I’m sorry to make you do this, Izuku.”
“Don’t worry about it, sweetheart.” He says cutting you off from further apology. “I just want to make sure you’re alright and helping you is making me feel better.” He reassures you, making it sound like you needing help is helping him. It actually is but you don’t know that, helping you makes him happy, that’s just who he is.
“Okay…”
Soon he’s setting you down on the bathroom counter while giving you a soft loving smile. You bend down to start untying your boots and flinch at the movement of your side. He’s gently easing you back up with a look of worry on his face.
“I’m sorry, love. It looks like you might have to do everything here.” You say as tears form in your eyes from pain and a deep feeling of uselessness sinks into your bones. You can’t even take your damn boots off, what kind of hero are you? Izuku gently wipes the tears from your eyes with his thumb as he sends you a reassuring smile before kissing your forehead. He gets down on one knee in front of you as he unties your boot before carefully removing it. He handles you like he’s caring for an injured kitten, more like honey badger but close enough. Once he’s removed both of your boots he sets them to the side neatly, mentally taking note to clean them for you tomorrow, he stands back up and gently cups your face in his hands.
“Take it easy, my love. And tell me when you need help again instead of trying to do it yourself. I’m here to help you and if that means doing things for you then I’m happy to do them.” He says softly as he kisses the crown of your head. You plague this man’s every thought and he loves every second of it, please just let him take care of you. You sigh softly as an attempt at acceptance.
“Can you help me out of my clothes? I know I can’t get out of this on my own if I can’t even get one boot off.” You say sounding slightly dejected at being so helpless and needing him to do everything for you right now.
“Of course, darling. Let me know if you need a break or anything like that, I’ll try and make this as easy on you as I can.” He says in a warm, reassuring tone. He moves slowly and carefully as he removes each article of clothing, giving you ample opportunity to ask for a break if you need one. He removes everything so gently as he carefully avoids all of your major injuries. Because of his carefulness this is an almost painless procedure for you but for the few grimaces of pain you give he whispers a soft apology while kissing whatever un-injured skin is available. Soon you are completely undressed sitting on your bathroom counter.
“Thank you for being so careful with me.” You say sounding vulnerable as you try to remove the bandages that cover your burns before flinching once again.
“It’s not a problem. You are so precious to me, you know that? I want nothing more than for you to be safe and happy and I will take great care of you in any way I can to make sure of that.” He says softly as he caresses your face gently, easing all signs of pain from it. He kisses your cheek softly before he looks at your injuries.
“Let’s get these removed so they don’t soak up any water and hold it to your injuries.” He says knowing that’s a quick way to make things heal incorrectly or become infected.
“We can take it slow. Whatever you need, baby.” He starts to remove the bandages with gentle hands, revealing nasty burns that he’s frankly surprised anyone would let you walk away with let alone you make it up the stairs with. It’s slow work as the gauze clings bloodily to your burns, but he’ll take as long as he needs. No amount of time is too much if it’s for you. He wants, no he needs, to make sure he gives you the best care possible.
“Do you need anything before the shower? Water, medicine, anything like that? Just say it and it’s yours.” He says so sweetly in your ear as he stands in front of your naked form yet again.
“In all honesty I’m going to need help actually showering. I don’t even think I can wash myself on my own.” You say sounding slightly frustrated with yourself but mostly disappointed and dejected with how useless you feel.
“Hey, you are not useless.” He says sensing your thoughts. “My love, you have been through a lot of pain and a lot of fighting today; we both know that. You’re allowed to need help, that is okay.” He says cutting you off from any rebuttal you might have. He picks up one of your hands and presses a loving kiss you your palm.
“I’ll help with the shower, okay? I’m here, I’ll take care of you. Just say what you need and I’ll do my best to help.”
“Okay, I’m sorry, I’m just not used to not having to do everything on my own when things like this happen. Can you please take me to the shower and help me wash off all this grime? I’m tired of feeling gross on top of the pain.” You ask so softly, you sound so vulnerable, so different from his brave, unshakable partner and it breaks his heart. Although the fact that you feel safe enough with him to let him see this side of you tells him he’s doing something right as your boyfriend, that doesn’t mean he likes seeing you hurt like this though.
“It’s alright; there’s no reason to be sorry.” He says as he wraps his arms around your shoulders softly while kissing the top of your head. He wants you to feel safe and to know that there isn’t a single reason you need to apologize for needing help.
“I’ll help you with the shower, love. You won’t have to worry about a thing.” He speaks into your scalp before he heads to the shower to turn it on and get it to the right temperature, not too hot as to aggravate your burns but also not too cold as to cause you any discomfort. He quickly returns to your side, not wanting to be away from you for more than a few seconds.
“Do you need anything before we get in? I’m here for you, whatever you need.” He asks so sweetly. He just wants to make sure you have everything you could ever need, especially now.
“I just want to be clean.” You sound so small, almost broken. It tears Izuku apart knowing how bad you must be hurting.
“You will be clean in no time, my love.” He lifts you off the counter with such care and helps you into the shower. The water soaking into the shirt and sweatpants he was wearing around your apartment before you had gotten home. Even as the warm water soaks into his clothes including his socks all of his attention is on you, the fabric clings to his built frame and he doesn’t notice as he does everything he can to take care of you.
“Thank you, Izuku.” You whisper as you lean against him in the shower. He really does care about you to the ends of the earth.
“It’s no trouble at all, sweetheart. You’re safe with me, no matter what, I’ll always take care of you.” He speaks so genuinely as he looks down at you with a sweet smile, his perfect green eyes radiating love for you.
“Tell me if you need to be a little more gentle, okay? I won’t be rough at all, I promise. We can take all the time you need. I’m here for you.” Every action he takes is one of undeniable love you you.
“Thank you.” You whisper softly as silent tears, caused by everything that happened, roll down your cheeks and mix with the water from the shower head. He notices the tears falling as you lean against him and he graces you with a soft caring look.
“Do you want to talk about it?” He asks. “You don’t have to of course but no matter what it is I’ll be here to listen, okay?” He says softly, he just wants to give you every bit of comfort he can. He’d let you do whatever you need to feel better. You stare ahead of yourself with and almost blank look as you stare at the tile wall silently for minutes. He waits for you patiently as he continues to get the blood, dirt, and sweat off of your skin. You continue to stare with that silent, blank look at the tile before speaking.
“Every time I close my eyes I can see what happened today. I see hurt people, I see the blood and their agonized facial expressions, I couldn’t even stop to help ease any of their suffering. I practically hear their screams of fear and pain. It echoes in my head, I hear it all. I see my mentor on the ground completely unmoving. I thought Mirko died, I thought she was gone. I thought I lost my mentor. I can still hear her agonized screams go silent, hear my boots on the ground as I rush to her side, feel the fire tear into my skin as I defend her body… That’s how I got these burns, I wouldn’t let anyone near her. She’s the closest thing to a mom I have left and I thought I lost her because I wasn’t fast enough.” The words tumble out of you before silent sobs rack your system. Shaking as you lean into him while the shower rains water on top of both of you.
His heart breaks at your words. You’re words speak of the pain you felt as you fought for not only your own life but the life of someone so important to you as well. He can’t imagine the fear you felt when you heard Mirko’s screams. He hugs you tightly and carefully as he pets your head soothingly, his heart shatters as you continue to sob and your hands grip tightly into his soaked tshirt. All he wants right now is to take that pain away from you but he can’t so he just continues to hold you, keeping you from completely falling apart.
“The paramedics said that because I kept her safe after she went down they were able to save her but I haven’t seen her since they took her away. I just…I just can’t…can’t make myself believe she’s okay. I know they told me she’s alive and fully healed but I can’t make myself believe she’s not dead. No matter what anyone tells me I just keep seeing her unmoving body.” You sob out against his chest, naked and emotionally vulnerable against him as the shower continues to wash away your tears. He continues to hold you tightly as he runs his fingers though you’re hair. With each sob you let out he can feel a deep sharp pain in his chest. He knows all he can do is hold you right now but god he wishes he could do more.
“I’m sorry….I’m so sorry.” You repeat over and over again into his chest. You can just barely be heard over the sound of the water, you sound so broken in this very moment and Izuku can’t help it. He wants to tear apart whatever did this to you, his precious love. But he knows you took care of it, you’re so strong like that, he knows you wouldn’t let someone get away with hurting that many people or your mentor without them paying for it dearly. He also knows something else, you need and you deserve soft gentle love and comfort right now. So he pushes that fierce protectiveness away and focuses on holding you and giving you whatever you need.
“Don’t be sorry, my love.” He whispers against the top of your head as he continues to run his fingers through your hair.
“You have absolutely nothing to apologize for.” He continues as the pain in his heart grows each time those words tumble out of your mouth, he tries not to let it show for you though. Right here, right now; you can be as emotional, and as fragile as you need. You need that and he is going to give it to you, just like everything else you could ever need or want.
Soon enough, you run out of tears to cry as you lean against him; completely and totally emotionally exhausted. But you are now clean thanks to him. He continues to hold you as he caresses the back of your head softly. The shower seems to have washed away some of your pain as well which gives him some hope of you healing from this, both physically and emotionally.
“I’m proud of you, my love. Everything you went through, everything you felt…it takes courage to deal with all of that, and you did it. I couldn’t ask for a better partner by my side.” He says softly to you as he tilts your head up to look into your eyes. Those perfect eyes he fell in love with, they no longer show the pain they had when you limped into the apartment earlier that night, now they mostly look exhausted. You remain silent against him but he can tell you are at least felling better now that you aren’t holding that all in. The concerned look on his face melts into a look of love and kindness before he kisses your forehead. He continues to hold you for a bit longer, just wanting to make you feel as loved and safe as possible before he turns off the water.
“Can you help me dry of and re-bandage these burns?” You ask in the smallest voice he has ever heard from you. He smiles however, finally hearing you speak again after remaining silent for so long. He can tell you are coming out of it and that you will be okay.
“Of course, my love. I’m here to take care of you.” He says softly as he sets you down on the edge of the tub. He grabs a warm fluffy towel and gently drys you off before wrapping it around you. He then begins to carefully clean and re-bandage all of your wounds. He even covers the minor cuts you’ve managed to receive with bandaids. He places a gentle kiss on the undamaged skin near your burns and places soft kisses on all of your smaller, less tender injuries. You feel absolutely no pain through the entire thing thanks to his feather light touches and his careful attention to you. You continue to stare off into space as he works, still haunted by what you saw today but no longer feeling alone in it.
“Thank you.” You whisper in a small exhausted voice.
“It’s no problem at all, love. I’m here to help you however you need. You aren’t alone, my love, you’ll never be alone when you’re with me.” He says as he kneels in front of you, catching your eyes with those soft emerald green ones of his.
“Can you get me some clean clothes and help me get dressed?” You ask again in that small vulnerable voice. He smiles at the request though, happy to see you asking him for help even when it’s not needed.
“Of course I can, my love.” He says lovingly as he strips out of his dripping clothes, leaving him in his boxers before grabbing another towel and drying himself off. He doesn’t want to drop water all over the apartment and give you something to slip on especially in your injured state. He leaves and returns quickly, now dressed in a dry shirt and sweatpants, carrying a change of clothes for you. It’s your favorite shirt to wear of his and your favorite sweatpants of his to steal. They fit you loosely so he knows they won’t aggravate or squeeze your injuries. He helps you get dressed again, it’s again a slow and careful process as he diligently makes sure you don’t get hurt again. Once you’re dressed Izuku gives you a kiss on the cheek and kneels in front of you again as you sit on the edge of the tub.
“Do you want anything to eat or drink, love? Anything at all, we can even order from that takeout place you like or I could make your favorite.” He offers as he caresses your arm, planting kisses to your knuckles.
“I think I just want to rest and be held if that’s alright.” You say as you look up at him, almost afraid of being too needy even though you went through hell today.
“That’s absolutely alright with me.” He says as he gives you a soft look. He wants to show you that it’s safe for you to feel vulnerable around him.
“Rest all you need, love. Just let me know if you need or want anything. I’ll always be here to support you.” He gently kisses your forehead after he finishes speaking.
“I just want you here.” You say softly as a single tear rolls down your cheek in relief at finally, finally feeling safe after everything.
He wipes away your tear with his thumb. This is one of the only times he’s ever seen you cry in the three years he’s known you and frankly those two times was more than enough for a lifetime with you. He never wants you to be this upset again, in his mind the only tears he deems acceptable are tears of joy. To him you deserve to be so happy that you only know tears of joy, you should never have to hurt like this.
“Then that’s what you’ll get.” He responds determined to give you everything you want as he holds you close to him. He holds you firmly and safely, he wants you to feel the support he has for you through his touch, wants you to know he’ll always be here for you and never abandon you. He stands with you, lifting you of the edge of the tub, as you cling to him like a lifeline. Like he’s the one thing holding you up, which in all honesty he kind of is. You both stand there for a few minutes as he gives you physical and emotional support through his touch. After everything that happened today he wants to ensure that you know that you will always have him. After a few more moments of holding each other you whisper to him from where your head rest on his strong shoulder,
“Can we go to bed, honey?”
“Yes, darling, of course. Anything for you.” He says with so much love for you it practically drips from his words. He carefully helps you to the bedroom, practically carrying you the whole way before he tucks you into your shared bed.
“Is there anything you need before we sleep love? A glass of water, something to eat? You name it and it’s yours.” He asks softly as he strokes your cheek.
“Just stay with me? Please?” You ask softly, not wanting to be alone.
He gives you a reassuring smile as he gets into bed next to you. He gently pulls you to him, careful to avoid your injuries before he rest his chin on top of your head.
“I’ll stay right here, love. I’m not going anywhere.” He strokes your damp hair gently as he holds you tightly to himself. Nothing is going to hurt you while he’s here, he’ll make sure of it.
“I love you so much, sweetheart, and I’ll always be here too protect you.” He says into your hair but you barely hear him as you quickly fall asleep in his arms, finally looking peaceful for the first time since you got home.
He stays awake for a little while longer, holding you securely. He can hear the tv in the living room that he forgot to turn of, the news is playing softly and the can hear that they are talking about you.
“Honey Trap, pro hero and sidekick to pro hero Mirko, defends their mentor and hundreds of civilians from a fiery villain attack. Thanks to the two heroes fighting bravely there were no civilian or hero casualties. As of now Mirko is expected to make a full recovery thanks to the emergency medical staff, healing heroes, and her protégé Honey Trap protecting her. The pro Honey Trap was seen on their feet hours after the fight on their way home. We are wishing them both a speedy recovery and we thank them both for risking their lives to keep us all safe.” The news reporter says in her monotone news anchor voice. After hearing that Izuku can’t help but be proud of you, he looks down and brushes that white streak near the front of your hair out of your face before falling asleep himself.
The next day there was a sharp, loud knock on your apartment door. Izuku was washing dishes from when he had made you lunch and quickly dries he hands to go answer the door. Mirko was behind the door when he opened it.
“I’m here to check on them. Are they awake?” She asks the freckled man as soon as he opens the door, keeping her voice low to keep from disturbing you if you were asleep.
Izuku leads her to your bedroom where you’re laying down. He lets her in quietly as to not disturb you in case you had managed to fall back asleep. She quickly and quietly joins your side before you turn to look at the noise.
“Rumi! You’re okay!” You say excitedly as you try to sit up before flinching and laying back down.
“Take it easy, kid. You’re going to hurt yourself.” She says with a chuckle as she leans down to hug you. If you are capable of being excited then you will be fine. “I actually have you to thank for that you know. I saw the news and saw how you protected me after I went down. I’m proud of you, kid.” She says as a hand rest on your shoulder.
“I’m just glad you’re okay! I was so worried.” You say finally relaxing completely now that you can see her standing there in front of you.
“I knew you would be, that’s partially why I’m here.” She says as she ruffles your hair with her hand.
“Well now that you know I’m alive and I know you’re okay I’m going to let you rest. I’ll send a healer hero over here tomorrow for you, until then make sure you rest. And let this poor boy take care of you like we both know he wants to.” She says with a chuckle before taking her leave. Little did you know she was just as worried about you as you were about her, but you didn’t need to know that.
Author’s note time. Do I know how long this is? Absolutely not. But I do know it took me at least six hours of straight writing to complete it. This came to me in the shower a few nights ago and I knew I couldn’t let it go. Now I would like to especially thank @lovinkiri for not only encouraging all of my writing endeavors but also being a truly amazing friend. She is one of the best people I know and I couldn’t be more thankful she is a part of my life. Her writing inspires me to continue writing even though I don’t get much of it done and she encourages me to continue despite that fact. There have been a few mornings where I got out of bed because she was there and thanks to her I have been self isolating less. I can’t thank you enough for everything you do for me, bean. I love you and I hope you enjoyed.
