I was fond of him having a chatot but idk... I really, really wish everyone on the right would stop pretending certain people are awesome and on our side and everything they've ever done has been good actually just because they do one or two things that are pretty cool now.

This is mostly about Tulsi Gabbard, who despite being pro-government healthcare, pro-DACA, pro-Green New Deal, and pro-gun control, among other positions we wouldn't accept from people who have actually run as Republicans, is being turned into some kind of populist right wing hero just because she calls out the extreme left sometimes and left the Democrat party.

But it's also about Mel Gibson, who is apparently part of a group that stops human trafficking (which is good, if true), which means some people are now trying to pretend he's been using his movies and his public statements to expose truths and fight for freedoms forever, when mostly he's just been going on drunken anti-semitic rants.

It also applies to a lesser degree to people like James Gunn, who has about 30 tweets joking about being a pedophile but because he calls out cancel culture after being fired for five minutes because of those tweets he's suddenly based. Or Chris Pratt*, who has never publicly spoken about his political beliefs on anything, but because he's publicly religious and didn't want to film a campaign ad for Biden, we assume he's a secret right wing Hollywood guy and it's "safe" to watch his movies.

I'm not saying we shouldn't admire or respect someone for doing a good deed or supporting a righteous cause. Far from it. One of my other problems with the right is, paradoxically, how they'll sometimes cast someone who is right 99% of the time away like they're stale bathwater because they did something we don't agree with once. That kind of attitude doesn't win anyone over to our side. But that's also my point. We're way more willing to put horribly imperfect leftists (or potential leftists) on a pedestal just because they're on "our side" once or twice, while we demand ideological perfection from anyone we already think is with us at all times. Keep perspective. I know Trump worked out really well for us, but populism and populist euphoria, while at least somewhat necessary to politics these days, is a dangerous thing to indulge in too much. It's how you end up with cults of personality around people who end up destroying movements.

*So Chris Pratt doesn't really fit into the theme of this post, but I wanted to put him here anyway because it startled me how quickly people went from "He's just another Marvelshit actor" to "OMG he's just like us!" It's disturbing because, A, we don't know what his beliefs are and it's weird to assign him ours just because we like one thing he was public about, and B, because it shouldn't matter what his beliefs are. We rightfully disdain Hollywood and the culture it breeds and the people who thrive in that culture, but the moment a Hollywood lifer says something that even remotely sounds like they might not be left of Stalin we freak out and start acting like twitter stans? Come on, guys. Don't worship celebrity. And don't be so quick to assign virtue to people who have never publicly shown it. Someone at Chris Pratt's level, if he is truly "on our side", should be using their money and influence to do something about it besides going to church and mentioning God every so often. If someone from Hollywood shows up publicly at the March For Life, or publicly donates to a reputable pro-2A advocacy group, or does something like pay the legal bills of the Jan 6 political prisoners, that's who I'll respect and praise. But just not publicly being a raging leftist shouldn't be enough to get us creaming in our pants.

How was life as a marauders fan? How and what was your thought process? and what made you become a Snape fan?

I have never been more curious in my entire life.

So it's a long story that goes back to DracoTok in 2020. I fell into that and it easily went from DracoTok to LupinTok. At the same time of LupinTok, SnapeTok was also becoming a thing, tho I didn't fall into it then.

As you can guess being obsessed with Remus can easily have you fall into the maraduers tik tok. Which I did, this was around the beginning of 2021 I believe. It started with text posts and stuff until I heard about Wolfstar.

I then started reading fics. Most of them were modern/muggle AU's then it went to angst and the like. I was knee deep in marauders tik tok and the fandom in its entirety. I was a James stan and like all the others believed he could do no wrong.

I was also a Snater tbh, I would go on rants to my sister about Snape. Him being a death eater and how if Voldemort didn't target Lily that Snape would have lived and died one of the most loyal death eaters. I was a little over the top with my hating. I hated him but that was my most used argument.

The marauders opened fanfiction reading to me and around June 2021 I read ATYD. It took me a week, this was around the peak of my marauders obsession and I started branching out a bit. I remember then reading a gender bent marauders fic and enjoying it.

Skip ahead to August of 2021 in which my family moved from Canada to Israel, we didn't have wifi for about a week and I had downloaded both The Auction and Manacled to my phone since someone told me to read it. I had not known it was Dramione, but that started that phase.

I was still a marauders fan but I didn't read it anymore. When I moved into a temporary apartment with a bunch of girls I found out one of my roommates read on ao3 and also liked Harry Potter. We would sometimes share fanfictions, tho we had very different taste in fanfictions. She told me about this fic she was reading in which Snape was Harry's biological dad and it piqued my interest.

It all went fast from here. I read the fic and became obsessed with the idea of Snape being Harry's bio dad or regular dad and fell down a quick hole into the severitus world.

I don't exactly remember the point in time in which I went from "Omg James Potter" to "omg Severus Snape" but I do know if shocked my sister when I came home one day and went on a whole ass rant about James Potter.

Y'know I wasn't like the other fans since I didn't argue with pro snape people or comment or bug them. I just kinda existed in that universe and died over those stupid "omg feminist James Potter would wear a skirt to battle dress code" posts.

I guess you could say what changed my mind was fanfiction. fanfiction shapes my mind surrounding characters a lot. Just ask @moonlightdancer26 of my opinions of Ron 🙈. It kinda showed me what it was really like for Snape in school and how similar he and Harry really was.

Idk if that is what you asked but like I haven't done one of these in forever and I've had a long day touring the Knesset and the Israeli Supreme Court 🙈🙈🙈.

THE TERRORRR PLS PLS PLS, also his dark materials 👀👀

omg YES! so the problem with me talking about the terror is that most of the cast is Indistinguishable White Man to me but i do know crozier is played by jared harris and hickey... oh god is his name actually hickey has anyone made the obvious joke yet...??? is played by the guy who was also in gunpowder milkshake (terrible film but i love michelle yeoh and karen gillan so of course i watched it.) and paul ready and ciaran hinds are there too. lots of guys. i’m sure i’m missing a lot. anyway. white men! tumblr lesbians seem to love these white men!

ANYWAY it’s based on the doomed antarctic expedition of, i wanna say the mid to late 1800s, but it adds the element of Giant Fucking Monster to the whole shebang which i think is really sexy. i’m 99% sure the show features cannibalism and mutiny and freezing to fucking death, which i think is super sexy of them all. despite the tumblr fame of this show i have not seen a single episode. mostly because it would be sad to watch it alone, i wanna hoot and holler at these objectifyable men with someone who Gets It, you know? also because i’m a wimp and i need someone to hold my hand :3 i think there’s also an Indigenous woman who shows up but i really don’t know the plot beyond “oh no we’re trapped in the ice boys we’re gonna have to take drastic measures to survive!11!!!” and then they all die. all i know about the characters is that hickey is a jerk and everyone thinks crozier is hot. that is all.

as for his dark materials, i LOVE the lead actress from logan and the actor from the (very bad show but he was great) letter for the king. we also stan whatshername the adult female lead who played cathy in wuthering heights and the lead in true things (2021) what iS her name this is going to haunt me forever. i think lin manuel is also in it? with his polar bear??

and i know the concept of daemons and vaguely that some magical Dust is important, also that james macavoy and cathy from wuthering heights OH HER NAME IS RUTH WILSON YAYYYYY my brain has not failed me--anyway they’re the protagonist’s parents but also fighting each other??? and i know philip pullman was writing these as retorts to CS Lewis’s Narnia/Christianity as a whole so it’s a takedown of Christianity as an institution and canonically lesbian Mary Malone was a big deal because she wasn’t canonically gay in the books? she has something to do with the biblical Garden and man’s fall and how important individual choice is??

i also know that it ends sadly for lyra and will and they’re separated forever :( and i’ve definitely read the tumblr post book excerpt about lyra not being able to use the altheiometer (i am definitely spelling that wrong) anymore at the end but having to learn from scratch. anyway it would absolutely destroy me if i ever chose to watch this show but heyy what’s fiction for if not ripping my heart out!!!!

Ross lynch also counts because he is lovely and pretty and dumb which actually means every character he ever plays is automatically a himbo.

I will forever live thinking that Peter Pettigrew was a their actual friend and not just a fanboy. He was the one that knew how to bake and cook and spoilt the other Marauders whenever it came to basic necessities as food and cleanliness. We all know that Sirius has been pampered his whole life, God knows he can’t take care of himself for the life of him and same thing for James. So imagine if their parts of the dorm were messed and Peter always helped them at least keep their messes a little bit organized and when they were all too much into the Marauders map making, he would sneak away a prepare something in the kitchens and just get them a little pick me up because he likes tO COOK FOR HIS FRIENDS AND HE LIKES HELPING HIS FRIENDS AND 🥺! And like Remus is fairly organized but he rarely takes care of himself and his appetite cause he’s a little self destructive (same 🥲) and while James always worries and tells him to eat and nags him constantly, which almost always results in him actually eating but there are days where he takes a few bites to satisfy James but James gets caught up on something (like Lily or Sirius or just anything) Remus stops eating and there’s this sMALL VOICE OF PETER SOFTLY HELPING HIM AND ENCOURAGING HIM TO EAT AND OMG MY HEART😭! Like you have James who always cares for most of the physical and mental health and helps them with that but you also have Peter who can actually cook (bc let’s face it James and Sirius would burn the kitchen down like they are shit at the kitchen and it’s cannon, no one can change my mind) and he actually carries out the other half of the care for the Marauders. They all level each other instead of Remus, Sirius, and James carrying it out completely and Peter just being a fanboy. PETER WAS A GOOD FRIEND THEREFORE THE BETRAYAL WILL HURT MORE SINCE HE WAS ALSO THEIR FRIEND!

I mean I do not excuse his betrayal, but I’m just saying before it, he was their friend therefore it hurt more. Cause the thing with him being a little fanboy and going unappreciated, you can see that coming. For example, the Incredibles, he was a fanboy turned bad for his lack of appreciation. So it’s something that the years can go past and the other Marauders (Sirius and Remus) could see and know that part of if was their fault because they didn’t appreciate him enough and it led to the betrayal and death of their friends. On the other hand, him being their friend, which is the hill I will absolutely die on, will pain Remus and Sirius even more because there he did not have any other actual motive to betray them other than being a FKN COWARD! AND THAT HURTS EVEN MORE BECAUSE HE WAS THEIR FRIENDS!!! AND HE BETRAYED THEM!!! AND STOOD BY HIS BETRAYAL!!! LIKE CAN YOU NOT SEE HOW MUCH MORE PAIN THAT GIVES AND 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Louis played the Brits Week benefit show tonight at Scala, his first real full length solo just for him show, and...well as Louis said, "Blown away by tonight. Can't quite get my head round it. This was a special and forever memorable moment. The tour is going to be incredible," and, "really can't put into words what happened tonight but it was a break through moment. Thank you. Feeling very excited about what's to come." And now we are all crying forever, or at least until tour starts in a month and we get to watch him bloom like a fucking (nocturnal) sunflower a little more every single night! Still high with a little feeling, Louis then liked a tweet saying "I hope Louis is smoking a nice fat blunt rn," briefly before unliking LOL yes, agree and I will accept that as confirmation. So yeah: the show was amazing, he was shining and talking about how confident he felt and giving the now-usual waves and thumbs ups to the rainbows in the crowd and working the stage and crowd. I love that he can lean right in and have the group hugs and love without being groped or mauled! So cute. Anyway also today, there were special Louis/War Child charity benefit t shirts on sale and Louis said the weirdest fan gift ever was a live grasshopper back in the early days at a signing, that the best thing about being famous is the fans and the worst thing is the intrusiveness and people being "annoying." He will be on Total Access tomorrow.

Oh also Eleanor was at the show: she wrote "proud"...on a picture of herself. Hmm. One wonky 'you tried' star for you I guess. Anyway who cares all I care about is her dad showing up outside after the show, clambering awkwardly over the barricade with help from fans (who were like who is this man what tf is going on), then turning around and being like "I'm Louis' girlfriend's dad! Do you want a picture with me?!" to some fans with a rainbow flag. That one picture was taken (by someone fans called her brother, but based on what?) then off they went into the night. Lol WTF? Lord help us.

We learned that Harry was a busy boy while he was in Miami- he didn't just film a message for Ben Winston's mom, he also filmed spots with James Corden's parents for the Late Late Show! Highlights, salsa dancing wiggly butt, and his mermaid tattoo being blurred out, omg. This just in, Harry's arm is too obscene for network television! Today we got Eroda tweets, one asking for favorite Eroda memories and gifting shirts to a few deemed worthy and one leading up to a video- thirteen minutes and twenty one seconds of Fine Line Live(pt 1) behind the scenes! Much of that time is fan footage but there's some quality Harry as well, like him unfolding his ridiculously long limbs out of his tiny sports car, doing a little TikTok meme dance, and adjusting his titties before the show. What next Harold? Is he playing on the radio tomorrow? Maybe so! Is he also releasing a single, perhaps a video, or what?? Maybe we'll find out more someday.... perhaps....

And that Zayn song? A song claiming to be Fugir (Radio Edit) is on Spotify now, linked to what look like burner accounts for a "Rafael" and "Zayn." It's not unlike leaks that have seemed to be Zayn in the past but would he be leaking this after he just stopped it from coming out? Nothing makes any sense what's new welcome to never knowing anything. [edit wait that Spotify version has been there since Feb 7??? I have no idea y'all. Make it make sense please.]

Meanwhile, Niall tells us he's mixing something special just for us and bragged about getting a follow from Ryan Reynolds. I guess Mr Reynolds is branching out from his Zayn stanning: maybe Deadpool is a Ziall shipper? I buy it. If not, he's probably open to being convinced, someone should get on that.

Let's be honest, I saw It 2017 only bc of James McAvoy in the second chapter and I found it boring. And then the second part I found more like a comedy than horror. I didn't like films that time but I liked characters (Richie). Some weeks ago I rewathed both It 2017 and It 2019 and second one is still too long and a comedy but first I found interesting

A Little Late Series: It Was Good Until It Wasn’t by Kehlani

Kehlani is one of my favorite artists of all time. Ever since I found her music in one of my favorite youtubers’ video I was watching in 2014, I have been completely obsessed. Immediately after hearing her first mixtape Cloud 19, I turned so many people I know onto her and we’ve been together ever since then haha. I can’t believe all the growth and achievements she has received since then but it also feels like she’s just beginning. In the time between this album and her first studio album, she has been thee queen of features, and every single one has been great. I cannot believe that her second studio album is out but, here we are! 

“Toxic” was not my favorite on first listen but as time goes on, oh my god, its so addicting. I just want to scream on the top of my lungs “THAT DAMN DON JULIO MADE ME A FOOL FOR YOU”. Ty Dolla $ign’s background vocals suit the song so well and they compliment each other so well over this beat. “That dick always been problematic” is classic. Ohhhh “Can I”. I really dont have a lot to say about this one. Its incredible. “Sniper game no Bradley Cooper”?!?!?! Kehlani got better bars than a lot of rappers in the game. Its just such an absolute vibe that I want to feel forever. I don’t usually like Tory Lanez but his feature is actually nice here. I think hearing the other person’s side of the story perfectly blends the song together. On “Bad News”, I love the vocals and harmony on the “give all that shit up” parts. It can be a very beautiful song at some parts but sometimes the verses can be a little unmemorable. “Real Hot Girl Skit” is so fun, real poetry! Thank you Megan Thee Stallion <3 “Water” was probably my most anticipated song to hear because I just love water. Haha. Anyway, on my first listen I didn’t like it and was really disappointed, but! Once I played in a few more times, I fell in love. The chorus is so cool and having her go down an octave every time she says “water” was such a neat effect. I love how after the first chorus she starts speaking faster than in the first verse. her flow?!?! I did not expect rapper Kehlani to be all over this project but I live. I loveeee the chorus on “Change Your Life”. The beat bounce is so cool. Jhene and Kehlani coming together is so amazing. They compliment each other beautifully and as two modern-day R&B powerhouses, its so great seeing these two women come together. The “Belong to the Streets” skit is so upsetting because those are normal conversations that a lot of people have on the daily. People discuss women’s lives so harshly and grossly and find no problems with it. I don’t like this skit because its a sad reality but I guess I just have to accept it. “Everybody Business” is the PERFECT response to the prior skit. She’s owning who she is and talking about how she’s a grown woman who can make her own decisions! I love how the lyrics are really badass but the mood and vibe is really stripped down. It’s stunning to see how much she’s grown as a person. Since I’ve stanned for a long time, I know some things Kehlani has struggled with on the daily like what other people think of her. Seeing how she has tuned those outer voices out and started focusing on herself more is *chefs kiss*. I really didn’t expect to love "Hate the Club” as much as I have. The sax is so juicy and adds a jazzy twist to modern R&B. As someone who doesn’t participate in partying, drinking, smoking etc, I too hate the club! It’s just not my scene and I’m happy Kehlani feels the same way. I don’t ever want to have to “drink enough” as she says, in order to do something. I also absolutely am in love with the bridge. That switch! “Serial Lover” seems like a standout to a lot of people since it was produced by longtime Drake collaborator, Boi-1da. I love when she says “I think I should be single, for awhile” because after that comma she goes down an octave and sounds so sick. My favorite lyric is “I got girls I wanna give my last name”. It’s not my favorite song but its really smoothhh.  “F&MU” is such a clever song. Truly, that line “fuck and make up like its mabeliene” is so clever! How has nobody thought of that before? The only thing that really stands out to me on this song is the chorus. It’s still one of my faves, I just wish it was longer.  The squeaky bed in “Can You Blame Me” is everything. I don’t know how I feel about the Lucky Dayes’ feature though… he adds something but nothing special. "Grieving” was the MOST SURPRISING song on the whole album! I was so shook when the chorus came in omg. How come I haven’t seen more people talk about it?! Even the blending of when James says “Grieving” with Kehlani is heavenly. The transition on “Open (Passionate)” is soooo gorgeous. I like the verses better than the chorus on this one, which is surprising for me. I like the connection between being very open but its only because your so passionate about the love your in. I feel like I can very much understand and relate to that! Regarding, “Lexii’s Outro”, I knew she was going to do something for Lexii on this album ever since I found out about her passing. When You Should Be Here came out, Jealous was one of my favorite songs on the project and I loved Lexii’s verse. I’m happy Kehlani ended her second studio album this way by showing the world what this girl had. 

All honesty, on my first listen I don’t think I paid that much attention to the album and lyrics and it felt more like background noise. As time has gone on, I completely have appreciated this album and love how my girl Kehlani is progressing as an artist. This is definitely her most mature project to date and I love that for her. It’s not my favorite project from her and thats okay. It’s not bad at all. I will always like literally whatever Kehlani does. She can do no wrong in my book. Even if sometimes it feels like background noise than anything else, its still better than half the other projects ive listened to.

Standout track: “Toxic”, “Can I” feat. Tory Lanez, “Everybody Business”, “Hate the Club” feat. Masego, & “Grieving” feat. James Blake.

ugh god I loved any part with James ransone or the kids he literally K I L L E D it as Eddie like oh my god he was so so so perfect and so funny I have never laughed so hard in a theater before, like when Bowers stabbed him? I was laughing so much that I like started crying he was so so good. The kids were amazing too, I loved young Eddie's interaction with it jack did a really really good job. Obviously Bill Hader was incredible but for me personally, James was my show stealer he was just so good. Also Jay Ryan, oh my god Ben was i n c r e d i b l e so so so good, I have literally never loved two characters as much as I loved Ben and Eddie in this movie. My favourite actor of it all was 100% Jay Ryan he was just so so so good, like when he was screaming the poem I was sobbing

He was acting so well with just his eyes like when Bev was talking about the writer of the poem and the expression on his face, I could literally see every thing going on in his mind it was such a wonderful scene and just oh my god I could go on forever so I'm gonna stop here but Jay Ryan was just so good oh my god

I loved all of the little reddie details like both Richie and Eddie checking out Ben, Richie's manger acting and looking just like Eddie, Richie shouting Eddie's name when the cookies came alive, Richie's hand on Eddie's leg in the hammock, Eddie ripping off the shower cap, Richie holding Eddie's arm when they're facing the doors, THE "VERY SCARY" DOOR BEING A CLOSET UGH POETIC CINEMA, and just all of that. I also really loved seeing the origin of IT like seeing it come to earth and its forms before Pennywise that was sick af. Also the tiny tiny stenbrough friendship details were great. Also Mike and bill was so nice to see their friendship literally set me on fire. Also I LOVED the Patrick zombie driving the car I thought that was sooooo sick.

If recreate you mean like change?? I would probably change the scares, I found they were a little lacking. Like was preparing the see the scariest movie of my life but I really didn't find it that bad at all. Like I found all the monsters had the same sort of look idk the scary parts I just wish they were more scary lol. (Not to say all the scares were like that, I really liked the Bob Gray part, stan in the fridge, and the mirror scene)

A specific scene I loved,,, like how do you expect me to do that. Like I said I loved Ben's scenes with Bev when she was talking about the writer, when he was shouting the poem and when they kissed underwater that was just pure beauty it was absolutely wonderful. Obviously Eddie's death absolutely ripped me apart and bill Hader did absolutely wonderful. I loved when Eddie threw the spear into the spider it was so so good and I literally got goosebumps over my whole body. When Richie went into the deadlights I was shook it was such a quick transition and I was literally like wtf omg. The dinner scene was great, young bill outside the sewer was really intense and amazing, and just oh my god everything I loved it so much.

when it came to her favorite shows, she'd make a point in the house that she was going to stay in her bedroom and watch whichever one of her favorites was on from the start time until it ended. she never actually brought it up to her family though, considering everyone had other things to do than bother her with anything. not to mention, she'd just get another lecture by her mom, saying she was going to ruin her eyes by always keeping her eyes on whatever screen was nearby her. but she always ignored her because 1. she's a teenager and 2. she ignores her mom's commands on a daily basis anyway.

like the kids in her school and her mutuals on social media, she was a fan of survival shows. the reason why is because of her interest in the idol industry in general, as she's always looking for new songs to cover and new groups to fangirl about. she also just liked the fact that this one felt like any other western singing competition, except mixed in with real idol companies that were willing to make them become a star and not a dumb british man who looked like an egg.

she was prepared in the most extra way. she brought up microwaved popcorn (that she secretly brought up to her room so that her mom wouldn't yell at her about that), a bunch of blankets, a fully charged laptop for streaming, and her phone that was opened to her stan twitter account. when the show finally starts on her stream, she watches the episode with excitement over the possible superstars she'll see. she can't wait until she is able to get a good screenshot and make it her icon until the next episode where she'll get an even better icon and so on.

so far, each of the contestants looked promising to her and she doesn't seem to recognize any of them. it's expected, really. she didn't really think she'd be able to meet a future idol anyway since she's always kept to herself. however, as the episode progresses, she does recognize one face. she goes on her twitter account to tweet "omg i think one of my brother's friends is on this season of mgas holy Shit my bro knows a future celebrity".

she continues to watch more contestants go and she makes her comments on them, saying which ones seemed god-tier talented and which ones were super attractive. but when she sees him, she drops her phone on her lap and pauses the stream quickly to make sure that her eyes were not fooling her. no... no. it can't be.

but as she clicks play to return to it, she hears his voice and it only confirms her previous thoughts, leaving her shocked as she watches kang daniel, her older brother that literally lives with her, is on her laptop screen. he's on national fucking television. she stays in that shock until she sees the popup that says "hello, daniel’s parents!" where she tries to hold back a laugh. as if both of them, let alone their mother, would watch this.

“they don’t know i’m here, actually. think you could keep it a secret? between you and me?” he asks to who she assumes to be an interviewer behind the camera, but it also somewhat feels like it could be directed to her. it wasn't like she was going to tell them anyway, considering mina's very aware of how her mom would react to it all. if he's lucky, he could be able to get out of the house with his head still above his shoulders. plus, the two of them had each other's back since she was born. she's not going to snitch on her ride-or-die bro. maybe to james, but definitely not to daniel.

as the episode goes on, she opens her phone and quickly types her thoughts in a tweet: "yo, that dude who sang the jesus song is kinda crazy for not telling his parents abt this. but u know what? he's talented . u go jesus dude"

she prays to god he doesn't find her tweets in the future. sure, she's under an alias and doesn't have any selfies on her acc. but if he knew that she called him jesus dude rather than just saying straight-up "my brother"? that would be humiliating.

"hey, can we talk?"

it's surprising to hear that come out from her own mouth. usually, she'd hear it being said by him or her parents. she was never much of a confrontational person growing up, not to mention this quote sounded... mature in a way and that didn't suit mina. but, it was the appropriate thing to say in this situation, especially after the one dinner where she was basically giving him looks full of suspicion. she doesn't know if he knew that she knew about the mgas, so she waits until the appropriate time to go up to talk to him about it... a.k.a on the drive back to school.

he tenses up and it makes her frown. "you don't have to shit your pants. you know what i'm going to talk about."

"sorry, sorry," he responds, relaxing a little. he's silent, as if waiting for her to just say it. he knows her well enough that she's not going to beat around the bush.

"no offense, but you never seemed like a person who'd stand in front of a video camera and sing to it willingly," she says off the bat. "why did you audition for this? don't you know lots of people are going to watch you on stage?"

"i wanted sungwoon to audition, but he said he wasn't going to go alone," he explains, making the situation make more sense to mina as to why the both of them were there. "i only came as support but i..." he drops the sentence to let out a sigh.

just from the explanation, it made her feel a little bit bad for him. she understood why this was stressing him out, considering he actually cared about what their mom and dad thought of him. even if she wasn't able to relate to that, she knew that their reaction to it wouldn't be as supportive as both of them wished it would be. and the fact that he's stuck in this just because he wanted to give his best friend support? that was so on-brand of him. mina wasn't angry at him to begin with. sure, she was a little hurt that he didn't say anything about it to her. but after hearing this? it's practically impossible to be angry at him now.

"look, if you're worried about me telling mom or dad about this, i won't," she says as an attempt to reassure him. "snitches get stitches. if i tell anyone, you can run over my phone or something. but i won't, so you don't have to do that and make me hate you for the rest of my life."

the exaggeration makes him laugh and it makes mina internally sigh in relief to know that it worked. "oh god, i can't imagine taking you-know-who's title. that'd be awful."

"hell yeah it would," she says with a big smile. "don't even compare yourself to him, though. that's self-deprecation. you're obviously a little bit better."

as the car pulls up to their house, mina quickly unbuckles her seatbelt, assuming daniel had somewhere else to be since he wasn't parked at his usual spot. before she could open the door, he says something. "mina?"

she turns back to face him. "what?"

"thanks," he says. even if it's simple, she knows there's something more within it. and though she was a queen for the dramatics, she wasn't going to make it a big deal. she never did when it came to showing affection anyway.

she gives him a playful, light punch to his arm. "you're dumb," she says. "you know i got you. kang gang through everythang." as soon as that comes out of her mouth, there's a look of disgust on her face. "that sounds disgusting. forget i ever said that."

she ignores the amused reaction and leaves the car. when she walks to the door, she looks behind to see his car disappeared. she smiles when the feeling of refreshment comes down on her. it was always felt good to talk to daniel, especially when it came to family stuff. even if they were more different than they were before, it felt good to know that she wasn't alone in this. she can't say that she was lucky to be an only child because she definitely wouldn't be able to handle her mom on her own. she can't say that she's lucky for not being an only child either since their oldest brother was also not making her life easier when he was still living with them.

maybe she's just lucky that she has daniel as an older brother, too. in school, she's always surrounded by kids who constantly complained about their older brothers and sisters and while she can add to that discussion when talking about james, she never really had anything bad to say about daniel. the only time she does say bad things about him is to him personally, and most of the time it was just light-hearted teasing.

without him, she didn't know where she'd be.

home did feel a little bit different now that daniel wasn't around anymore.

it didn't really click on the night that it happened. to mina, it felt like he was on timeout and wasn't allowed to go back home until she calmed down her temper, even though she didn't show any big sign of anger to him during the discussion. even though he told her about it, she didn't remember showing any sadness. she only smiled and gave a thumbs up while saying "you're finally escaping the evil witch's lair! congratulations!" he gives a sad smile, but the conversation goes on as normally until it ends with a hug and an "i won't miss you too much."

but on the night after that, when she took notice of the empty chair, it finally did hit. it was for his own good, she told herself. if he stayed any longer, he'd probably feel trapped forever. you wouldn't want that for him, would you?

the table was quiet that night, save for their dad trying to get some small talk. mina went up to her room and cried about it before she went on the internet as an attempt to cheer herself up.

she did get used to it. by the time the fifth season of the mgas was on, she was used to the fact that he was off on his own like a dove or something. it's not like the both of them totally lost contact, anyway. even if things were a little different, he still drops her off to places when she needs a ride and she'd see him at their grandma's church once a month. even if she was on her own now with the "ultimate boss", it was still kang gang through everythang. she's said that twice in her life and she felt like a bigger clown for it the second time.

had it not been for their text conversation about the auditions (with a bunch of eye emojis coming from mina), she would not have known that he would end up in the fifth season. she was able to convince her dad to watch the show with her, no mom insight, and they watched the show together in the living room with the blankets and popcorn and mina going on her phone before her dad tells her to focus on the show if she was going to watch it.  she knew she was going to see his band, but she didn't expect to see songhee and yeji and jeongin on the show. when her dad points her cousins out, asking if she knew about this, she only shook her head, letting him know that she was surprised as he was.

the next few episodes go by and mina goes through an emotional rollercoaster, to say the least. she blames it on her being so sympathetic to her brother that after seeing minhyun and sungwoon get kicked off the show, she throws a silent tantrum rather than a loud one with a warning from dad. seeing the friendships her brother in the show as well as his interactions with the people he already knew makes her feel a sense of pride in her brother. she remembers her group chat being spammed with asking mina if she could ask him to get an autograph from convex (she sent a reaction image of a buff cat instead before saying "no").

though the finale was bittersweet, especially since she believed that her brother deserved a chance with his friends and yeji, she mainly felt pride in him for at least making it that far and for being less awkward than last time. she doesn't text him right after it aired since she thought it would be awkward to say all the encouraging bs after he technically lost. but, she doesn't keep that thought in her forever.

"he looks happier this time," she mentions to her dad. "like.. he didn't win, but he got further than last time and he's definitely better."

he nods in agreement. "i wasn't sure how he'd be doing after he got kicked out, but after seeing this, i think he'll be fine." he looks over to her. "you should get on this show, too. you like dancing, right? maybe you'll get as far as he does."

mina laughs at the idea, but it wasn't in a way to show that he was ridiculous for thinking that. "we'll see."

1) Million Miles From HeavenI like that song actually, I think it has a couple of nice lines and as we all know the cast of btm is really great BUT as a show opener 10/10 wack. Epiphany gives me much much more especially the pre-reprise of Matt’s lines in No Voice

2) You and I (counting it because they changed all the lyrics besides “forever you and I)I HATE IT WITH A BURNING PASSION, WORST SONG of the cursed revival. Also forever you and I makes no sense if they just got into a relationship?? and omg this song completely sexualizes their relationship, which ugh unvalid.

3) Portrait of a Girl (again counting bc they changed all the lyrics)We really don’t need a song where Ivy sings about Matt like 0/10 ever asked for that
