There's a roommate!AU I've written all of three paragraphs for that I would love to continue after finishing up with a bigger project that's been taking my time! The premise is basically:

Jason is picked up by Deathstroke instead of Batman and uses what he learns under him to jump start an unprofitable career in vigilantism

Basically Jason is a broke bitch who needs a roommate while he establishes himself in Gotham because he's too prideful to use his sugar daddy (Deathstroke) connections; he can't afford his own place - expenses are way too high

Dick is freshly returned to Gotham to help support Tim upon the reveal of 'true heir' Damian, but for real he can't live under Bruce's roof he needs space. Problem is Gotham's housing/rental market is abysmal

Roy, mutual friend, sets them up. Mostly because he wants his trusted hero friend to look after this troubled civilian kid Roy connected with because the kid is doing his best and Roy worries he’s susceptible to getting involved in trouble he shouldn’t

So basically two vigilantes living under the same roof without knowing it

There's also another thing I plotted out to maybe write - an alternative meet-cute when they're kids, actually! I've got the first rough part saved in my tumblr drafts somewhere hahaha. But basically...

Dick kills Tony Zucco.

Jason witnesses it.

Then stalks Dick and helps him avoid authorities.

Only it's not only law enforcement looking for Dick, but Batman. And... the Court of Owls?

What I’ve Read A Bride for the Prizefighter by Alice Coldbreath – This Victorian working class romance was rather charming – I got the rec from Reformed Rake, a podcast by a Tiktoker who blogs about Romance novels of many eras. I found the main character really convincing, smart, and kind – when Mina’s father dies, she meets her estranged half-brother who arranges a marriage for her to HIS estranged half-brother, William Nye, the son of his father’s mistress who became a prize fighter and runs an pub. It felt like the descriptions of Mina’s life in the pub and her connections to the staff working there were very natural – Mina is a ‘lady’ in the sense of having an innate sense of decency and the value of other human beings, and Nye has a backbone of kindness to him that comes thru his rough demeanor. I felt like this had, as the Reformed Rake podcast noted, some genre connections to the Gothic, which was right up my alley. Very good romance, you can really see WHY these people like each other.

Love for Sale bypoisonivory - (https://archiveofourown.org/works/29789145) – Roy Harper, Arsenal, is between jobs and ends up hooking up with Jason Todd, who just happens to have an apartment to lend him – it’s just a business deal. Right? This story is a bit of a soft sugar daddy vibe, it works for me, despite being rather a departure from how I think about Jason Todd.

What I’m Reading: The King in Yellow 25% -static – The next story up for me would be In the Court of the Dragon The Count of Monte Cristo – 9%

Babel – Xing Book Club – 53% - I was just thinking about how much the first part of this novel reminds me of Naomi Novik's Scholomance series, in that it feels like someone taking the challenge of Hogwarts seriously - what does it mean to be brought into a magical community from the outside? What are the real impacts of magic on the world? What are the economies of how magic works? And who does this world consider expendable? We have just gotten to the point where Babel's students are going to be forced to confront those questions outside of England as adults who have been raised to serve the powers of the Empire of Britain. It's brutal and great.

Roy and Jason — Receiving Gifts

does your muse enjoy giving gifts?

It's sort of a neutral thing for Roy. He enjoys giving gifts when he can, like anyone would gift a loved one on occasion, but it's not a major part of his love language. He spoils his daughter with gifts more than he spoils his partners, but that doesn't mean he won't be willing to spoil them rotten if that's what they are into. Roy is no sugar daddy, though, so y'know. Expect gifts to be reasonably priced and affordable.

It's about the same for Jason, but he might be a bit more into it than Roy, if only by a little. He's more of an experience kind of guy than a gift guy, so he'd rather gift experiences rather than materialistic gifts. That being said, special occasions call for special gifts, and he'll go to the edge of the world and back if there was something specific his partner really wanted and would make them extremely happy. He will also get small gifts as tokens of affection when he feels like it, mostly because he's a hopeless romantic, like a bouquet of flowers on a random day, a small poem book if they're into literature like him, etc.

what is a gift your muse is hoping to receive?

Roy doesn't really think about gifts for himself all that much. I suppose if you gift him something he needs for his workshop he would really appreciate it, or something nice to put in his car or motorcycle. He does appreciate whatever he's given, though. You'd probably also win him over if you get gifts for Lian, too.

New leather jackets and anything book related is always something Jason enjoys receiving.

does your muse prefer receiving more practical or fun gifts?

It's a tricky question for both because it depends on the person, their relationship with that person, when it was gifted, etc. They both enjoy both kinds of gifts equally, honestly.

does your muse like it when someone spends a lot of money on them?

If the person is able to afford it and Roy knows it won't do financial damage in this person's life? Yes, he likes it, and he's very appreciative of it, but he'll probably feel the need to do something as equally grandiose which he can't always do. An example from my headcanon would be that, in spite of Roy being a terrible cook, Ollie gifted him a fully accessorized, renovated kitchen when he first moved into an apartment of his own with Lian. I think it's probably because he wanted to motivate Roy to learn to use it, much like he helped him financially build his own secret base/workshop. Roy will never be grateful enough for it, and he does feel like he somewhat owes Ollie for all of it, but it has subsided with the years and their improving relationship.

Not in particular. He'll appreciate it, sure, but it won't flick a switch in his head and make him fall head over heels. It's more of the thought that counts than the amount spent on it for Jason, probably because of where he comes from and what he's been through. A thoughtful, small gift would trample a big, meaningless one any day for him.

Tim was adopted by Harley and Ivy (A really nice idea anon gave me and I'm writing it right now) which means that except from what he's stealing he doesn't have lots of things/money

And Jason found out that Tim's biological parents didn't spend much on him

So Jason started buying Tim things that he wants

Tim's surprised every time it happens and he looks at Jason like he's the most amazing person in the universe.

Jason's hiding food in their bedroom in case there would be lack of food (years of not knowing when will be the next time he'll eat)

So Jason's making sure to explain Tim what he's making to eat if it including water and electrical machines

Jason also makes sure to never go in the bathroom with his phone because Tim looked at him with this terrified eyes and asked what if somehow water will hit the phone and there would be an electric shock.

Bruce once found out that Jason bought Tim what Tim wanted to steal

He thought that this is a way to make Jason feel welcome to come back home and to make Tim stop stealing, two robins with one stone right?

Wrong.

Jason likes being Tim's "sugar daddy" and he's the only one out of Tim's adopted family who is allowed to buy Tim things

Bruce regret it.

Damian hate Tim, he believes that this "clown boy" making Todd stay with him just to make father and Richard miserable.

Dick hate Tim because he think that Jason deserve better than JOKER Junior.

Alfred sends them meals in the holidays and their birthdays.

One time Jason had to go help Roy with something

He didn't want to leave Tim alone because "Mama and mom will break out don't worry, I can call aunty kitty"

"Aunty kitty" was traveling somewhere so Tim promised to be a good boy and not blow fireworks in the apartment

Jason got a call in three a.m from hysterical Tim

It took Jason half an hour to convince Tim that he's fine and the Joker will never hurt him again.

Jason loves to hug or cuddle Tim

It's so shooting when he wakes up in the middle of the night, his heart beat fast and he's sure he's still six feet deep and he can't-

But then Tim tighs his hug and kissing his neck and it's easy to remember that everything is fine because Tim is safety.

They both fear from drowning, Jason because the pit and Tim because of the acid.

So there's no baths in the house, only showers.

There was this one time that Jason got dossed with fear toxin and Tim had found him

The bad thing about that is the fact that seeing Jason in this state somehow triggered Tim's own trauma and he started laughing and laughing-

And when Jason wakes up in one of his safehouses, his hands covered in dry blood and Tim's on the floor with bloody face and not responding to Jason-

Scarecrow had a nice visit from Tim's mama, mom and aunty kitty.
