I absolutely love how tumblr has changed the image of Dolly Parton’s Jolene. The actual song describes what is essentially a picture-perfect southern belle, yet every post I see on this website treats Jolene like a cryptid. A siren. If Dolly Parton’s original Jolene were made into a real woman, she’d probably win the miss America pageant. If tumblr’s Jolene were made into a real woman, nobody would dare go out at night and sailors would be even less safe at sea. Tumblr’s Jolene is the kind of thing HP Lovecraft would wake up at night in a cold sweat over, and I’m obsessed

I've been populating the wonderful save New Pleasantview by franglishetchocolat with some OCs, characters inspired by original Pleasantview families, and a couple of characters from my Bloomwood save reimagined. I will be sharing some of the backstories and starting with the families living in the trailer park.

The Carters The parents see themselves as some kind of outlaw power couple, but they're really just running in place — robbing liquor stores, playing the same five scratch-offs every Friday, waiting for a lucky break that never comes. Waylon is the ghost between them, slipping through the cracks. He loves them both in the dumb, unwavering way kids love their parents — but he's already learning how to survive without them.

Jolene Carter (The Brains — Kind Of) Jolene always dreamed of leaving their dead-end town but never got further than the next county. She's manipulative, good at reading peoples' weaknesses, and has sticky fingers. She’s the mastermind in the couple — not book smart, but street smart

Tripp Carter (The Muscle — But Mostly the Mouth) Tripp is the kind of guy who thinks if he wins one big hand at poker, everything will turn around. He has a hot temper but would take a bullet for Jolene — or at least says he would. He is the kind of guy who thinks the government’s tracking him through the broken flip phone he hasn't paid the bill on in six months. He has a soft spot for dogs, but sometimes forgets to feed his son Waylon.

Waylon Carter (Future Local Cryptid) Waylon is 8 years old and is quiet, feral, and weirdly perceptive. He is good at hiding, especially when his parents fight. He talks to stray cats like they understand him, has never had a birthday party, and is obsessed with UFOs after seeing one outside the family trailer. Has never learned how to read, flinches when someone reaches for him too fast, and is already starting to believe the world doesn't want him.

"Don't be a fucking baby." I whispered. Striking a match I went to set it into the bowl but hesitated for a moment. This was my last chance to change my mind, it wasn't too late. I tossed the match into the bowl and the contents caught fire. With my hands trembling I held the page up and began to read aloud.

As I read the electronics in the room went haywire. Everything flashed on and off, the lights flickered, and the TV turned itself on and rapidly changed the channels. I had to admit I was frightened. My heart raced inside of my chest a million miles a minute but I continued to read the ancient words. On the third reciting everything turned off. I was left in darkness other than the faint glow of candles. I let out a breath of relief but it was short-lived as a rush of wind blew through and blew out my only other source of light. I was now in complete darkness. I reached out only able to see maybe a couple feet in front of me. I wasn't sure exactly what was supposed to happen but it seemed as though nothing did, other than the lights and the wind. I looked at the middle of the circle and huffed out in annoyance

"Fuck- did I not do this right?" Disappointed, I shook and got up, turning to face the TV. I began to pick up when something seemed to suck up all the air in the room. I felt that now familiar feeling of being watched. My eyes slowly moved from the ground when I caught something in the reflection of the TV screen. A glowing pair of golden eyes peeked at me through the darkness. I felt frozen in time, everything in my body tensed before I whipped around. The eyes slanted at me as the outline of a dark shadowy figure began to move toward me. My heart beat so loud I could practically hear it. My eyes widened and my mouth hung open slightly.

There was a beam of moonlight that managed to shine through the blinds, it was now my only light source. It cast a bluish light in the room as the shadow slowly stepped into it all the while those golden beaming eyes stared at me, cold and calculating. Whatever this thing was wasn't anything friendly, its movements were that of a cold-blooded predator stalking its prey.

When it finally stepped into the light a shiver ran up and down my spine. It was a tall man. Tattoos covered his gray-skinned arms until they became hidden under the colorful Hawaiian shirt he was wearing. His shoulders were broad and relaxed, my eyes finally made their way up to his face. It was half human, half skeletal. His eyes watched me with curiosity as all I could do was stare. His pointed ears pricked up as a wide glowing grin slowly crept onto his face. "Lookin' for somethin'?"

man i wish i was a better artist or film maker because i desperately want to make an alternate thing for “jolene” by dolly parton. i know a few people do the monster thing and i have a take too because i drive a lot and like to daydream. in my daydream film clip jolene is actually a cryptid (literally a beautiful monster with long red hair and huge green eyes and skin that is literally white and semi-translucent) that will lure in specific men in a pied piper way, and she starts trying to lure the singer’s partner. the singer chains him to a wall and tries to find a way to save him, but he breaks free and starts to go to jolene. she chases him and begs jolene not to eat him, but it’s just a ruse to get close enough to kill jolene with a hidden knife. i feel like it’s nicer than the real idea because as much as i love dolly, jesus christ if a man is saying another woman’s name in his sleep and will leave you to be with her the second she asks, you should break up with that dude

My Fanfics so far...!

Hello, I know I haven't uploaded much in here for a while, but I would like to share to you my upcoming projects in case you're interested. I normally use Wattpad, because it's the platform I'm most used to (I've been using it since I was eleven years old); and it's the one that gives me the tools to conceptualize my stories the way I want to.

(I know people don't really think that Fanfiction is real writing, but for me it is! And I conceptualize my whole stories, create my characters very deeply and construct a whole universe around them. You could also check my pinterest to check their respective moodboards because, being a designer, conceptualization is everything for me)

Most of these have only one or two chapters uploaded, but the whole story is settled and I only have the writing left.

Amortentia. (A Marauders Fanfiction)

A story in which a muggleborn tries to get a grasp on her surroundings and gains more reasons to fear the unknown, as well as it slowly lures her in. Settled during the Marauders era, and going from first year to the years after Hogwarts.

LIRWELL AND ANGEL'S PORT SERIES.

The Lirwell and Angel's Port series is a saga of Fanfictions intertwined, that occur inside the same universe, and mainly inside the city "Lirwell" and the town "Angel's Port". It's filled with horror and paranormal shit because that's my jam. Both cities are fictional and created by me. It has a lot of lore, so I would recommend to read them all. Coven. (A My Chemical Romance Fanfiction) A story settled in 2008. It's a paranormal college Au, in which the band sees themselves tangled with a coven of witches inside an unsettling city where everything seems to go wrong. Copycat. (An Andrew Garfield, Robert Pattinson and Tom Sturridge Fanfiction) A story settled in 2014. It's about a horror podcast and how their hosts keep defying the current serial killer in the city that keeps coming closer and closer to them. Demonia. (An Oscar Isaac Fanfiction) A story settled in the present day, where Simone and Oscar work together but she slowly submerges into paranoia when she starts studying demonology. Truth. (A Kit Harington Fanfiction) A story settled in the present day. It's about an ambitious journalist lured by the darkness that surrounds this city and a young policeman that keeps giving testimony of extraterrestrial sightings. Poltergeist. (A Tom Holland and Timothée Chalamet Fanfiction) A story settled in the present day. About a three college students living inside a haunted house, where one believes, one doesn't and the other is just tired. Unknown. (A Finn Wolfhard Fanfiction) A story settled in the present day. This story is about a girl who is new in town, discovering the marveling world surrounding her, and a boy trying to lure her into hunting cryptids with him. Blood. (A Louis Partridge Fanfiction) A story settled in the present day, where Pascal finds Louis, who disappeared a week before, and shelters him from the serial killer who kidnapped him.

Chaos. (A Marvel Fanfiction)

Gabriela Espiga is a fashion designer who doesn't know how to say no, and has to create a full set of suits for different superheroes to get their protection.

Creation. (Another Marvel Fanfiction)

In which a group of girls that should have died gains superpowers and try to create a group to help each other.

Cryptic (A Moon Knight Fanfiction)

In which Victoria Martínez is scammed and sees herself forced to share an apartment with a crappy roommate as she slowly falls in love with the neighbor next door. (Don't be fooled, it's quite dark)

I Fell In Love With a War. (An Adrian Chase Fanfiction)

In which Jolene Singh is being blackmailed by her boss but Vigilante offers to kill him; but her emotional instability surpasses her.

Watercolor Eyes. (An Edward Nashton Fanfiction)

In which Edward Nashton and Amelia Lin met each other when they were little and now she became everything he hates.

A Cure I Know. (A Battinson Fanfiction)

In which Bruce Wayne has to deal with an eleven year old girl appearing on his doorstep and calling him dad; and his PR Manager keeps bothering him about being more 'approachable'. (Based on this post)
