i don’t know if i’ve already mentioned this in a previous post, but yes seconal is a sedative, a barbiturate to be exact. i believe it was used to cure insomnia or whatever. so it wasn’t exactly a painkiller, but if mick was using it recreationally he’d probably still have to take a lot of it to feel the effects… at least if we go off of the idea that redheads need more sedatives than the normal person. which makes sense now that i think about it. i just thought he was doing it cause he was all reckless and shit but no… that mf was probably like “dude why ain’t this working?”

(btw: do yall remember in the book when he talked about getting diagnosed finally and then spending most of the 70’s and early 80’s taking like 45 advils a day? i wonder if they were just regular advil or extra strength, cause personally I built up such a high tolerance for regular advil that i have to take extra strength when i need it. if it was regular advil it would make so much sense for him to be constantly eating that cause, especially for him, that shit just doesn’t work much. all of this is just making me go “omg this makes sense now!” about everything lmaooo)

ALSO, my favourite topic (weirdly so)! i did do some research before… for reasons ofc.

ok little fun fact: now, the whole reason so many people got addicted to oxys was because purdue pharma (the company that made oxycontin) lied to the fda about how long their capsules lasted. they said they lasted twelve hours (so… twelve hours of pain relief), but they actually only lasted eight hours! so, someone takes their pills for the first time, they’re absolutely high (cause oxy is just heroin in pill form) for eight hours. of course, it works the first couple of times you take it, but after a while you build up a tolerance. most people built up a tolerance very quickly because they were being lied to about how long their pills lasted. that’s how most if not all of them got addicted… well also if you factor in the whole “heroin in pill form” part of it.

BUT, that being said, thinking about what we know now about redheads… i do wonder about mick. i know he said something in the resurrection of motley crue doc about how he was taking 18 pills a day for the pain. i know that was most likely a gross over exaggeration of the situation but it’s likely he WAS taking a whole bunch because of his high tolerance and the redhead thing…

OH ALSO coupled with the fact that he wasn’t just taking oxys either. he’s mentioned vicodin and lortab (another opioid i think), so add those to the mix. don’t know much about lortab, but i do know he was taking real high doses of that one too. i also think we should account for how high the doses of his medication were… cause that too probably has something to do with the “redheads need more sedatives thing” like, they might need higher doses as well. he probably needed to be prescribed higher dosages because he wouldn’t be able to feel a regular dose… of course it was probably better off he didn’t get prescribed those hard drugs in such high doses but… it makes sense now that i think about it this way.

Things that immediately turn me off a fiction book

I'm pretty picky with what I read, because the time I spend reading is time that I could spend writing. I generally know if I will like a book within the first chapter, and I feel no shame in giving up if I'm not vibing with it.

And no, I don't believe in the "oooh read further it warms up" because does it? Does it really? Do I want to waste time finding out?

Frankly, at this point in life, I read more nonfiction than fiction because there's just so. many. bad. books. that are getting published. Worse than fanfictions.

Anyway, here are the things that make me give up. Maybe hearing this will help you as you write your own masterpiece.

Too Many Proper Nouns

Three characters maximum in the first chapter or two. Do not throw dozens of people at me. I will get confused and give up. Let me get to know the main character, by themself or with a few of their closest companions, before you make me remember everyone else. And go deep with those characters! I want someone to stick with!

You can reference other characters, to create a sense of a deeper world, but do not go all-in on them. Make it clear that they are just there to provide a bit of context, and we don't have to remember them yet. We should only be meeting three characters maximum.

Throwing Us Immediately Into a Dramatic Action Point

This is controversial I know, but I hate when something immediately starts with a battle. I don't care if any of these people live or die. I don't know them. I haven't grown attached to any of them.

Even just a page or two to get to know them first will help. You can have them gearing up for a battle, thinking about what's going to happen, maybe talking to their friends, maybe checking their armor, whatever feels natural for them. But do not just start with stabbing people! I don't care about them yet!

Too Many Details

Many this is just me, but I simply do not care about every piece of armor your character is wearing. I don't need to hear a play-by-play of every single color of every single thing because I don't care. Pick out a few specific things for me to focus on and that's it. Stop overloading me with colors and patterns and armor styles.

Yes, yes, you've done your research on historically accurate gear. That's great. It would be good for a movie. But if I have to look up different armor pieces every five seconds, I am glossing over it and moving on. I don't care. I'm here for the story. If I wanted an infodump about medieval armor, I would simply pick up a nonfiction book (and maybe I will).

White Space Syndrome

Tell me what the overall scene looks like instead of all these hyperspecific details of certain objects, like carts or emblems or whatever. I want to know where I am!!

Don't just say "a forest." Tell me what kind of forest. Tell me if it's a young forest or an old snarly forest or a swampy forest or a cold alpine forest.

Don't just say "a castle." Tell me if it's a bustling castle or a gloomy castle or a rundown castle.

Don't just say "on the sea." Cold sea? Tropical sea? Far far away from land or is land in sight? These are the things I want!

Too Much Backstory

For the love of god do not explain the entire history of this culture in the first chapter. The first chapter is for getting to know the characters we're going to be following. You can introduce those things slowly and carefully as the story unfolds.

I get that fiction writers are delighted by all the worldbuilding (or research, in historical fiction) they have done. But the reader does not care right away. They need to get invested before all those little specifics matter at all. My eyes glaze over and I give up because I don't want to have to remember all of that all at once. It's like you just threw a college textbook at my face.

Plus, if you're doing third-person limited, you have to remember that the character is not going to be thinking all of that! They won't say all of that either! Because they know all of that!

Even a general on the brink of a major battle is not going to go "yes, this all dates back to when we took Iuanfutila back in 181, when the brave Iuanfutilans protested the rule of our Yawwbaawnwhryr leaders ...." They are focused on the present moment, and they may discuss the backstory later. Tell us what we need to know now because that is what the character would be thinking too.

"Oh, but Topazadine, how will the readers understand the context if I don't tell them??"

There's a battle. Two groups are at war. Or something was stolen. Or two people are fighting. Whatever. We understand those things. We can get the basic gist of how things are going to play out by just showing us these things happening. Then, as we have gotten a feel for the characters, you can tell us more about the context.

If you walk into a store that's being held up by an armed robber, do you give a shit about his backstory, or do you only care once that person has been arrested and you have to testify? I think we know the answer. You're not going "ohhh why is he doing this??" at first. You're going "HOLY SHIT THERE'S A GUN WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN NOW???" and then you'll care about the other stuff later.

Too Much Play-by-Play

I also do not need a play by play of a fight scene. I need to know the general movements, and then the overall atmosphere. I want to feel what the character feels rather than feel like I'm watching a football game.

Your reader will fill in the gaps if you give them enough information, but when you overload them with every single action, they're now trying to keep track of what went where instead of how this moment is supposed to feel. And now the action and drama has gone out of the writing because it's become a manual of fighting techniques.

Pointless Dumb Conversations

"Oh, could you turn around for me? I want privacy."

"Sure, of course, I'm a respectable man." Manfred knew that a lady-in-waiting would be unsettled by the presence of a strange man, so he wanted to be respectful.

"Thanks."

"You're welcome."

Oh my god no one cares!!! No one!! We don't need this exchange. Cut it. This is stupid. Unless something is actually happening or something is meaningful about them saying this, shut up.

How to Not Write a Horrible First Chapter That Makes People Ragequit

Can you tell I'm mad today? I started and stopped three different books because they were all so bad.

Three characters max in the first chapter, with deep discussion of each. (One or two is better.) General appearance, demeanor, profession, whatever.

Restrain the urge to infodump! Dribble it out over the chapter!

Give the setting more attention than random little details that ultimately do not matter. I don't need to know the pattern of the curtains on the horsecart that's about to be burnt. Don't care.

Do not give a play by play of every single action that a character takes because it's boring and no one cares.

In media res is great but do NOT start with a big climactic intense battle or fight or whatever because we don't know these characters and don't know who to root for (or why we should care).

Your character is not going to give us a history lesson in why this conflict is happening. Do not do it yourself either. Give us just enough to get intrigued and no more. Think how your characters would think and what they would prioritize in discussions.

If a conversation is just pleasantries and has no purpose, drop it, we don't care.

Babez I’ve finally started playing rdr2 (so far been fueled entirely by fandom n the odd play through) and i don’t think I can abide by Charles being characterised as stoic and silent all the time because oh my goodness greasy during the hunting trip in colter he is INFODUMPING at maximum capacity towards Arthur and omg he’s so funny in like a kinda cheeky way it’s just ARGGH it’s so cute but then around other camp members he’s so quiet.

Also I kinda noticed that he’s more emotive when speaking to Arthur especially during the hunting trip idk I just thinks that’s so ughgfcfggbb

look I know we all respec our bg3 characters stats the moment we get them but doing a no respec run has made me realise some things. Because the stats aren't just bad for gameplay, they're kind of weird in terms of lore as well.

First up. The obvious. Astarion's charisma is 10. Buddy is a rogue with the outward personality of the most sterotypical bard you've ever met. Now this doesn't necessarily demand a high charisma stat, except his act works. Really quite well, actually. On the other hand, his intelligence and wisdom are both 13... This is not a details person, everyone. This is a man who approves of both objectively stupid and unwise gameplay decisions for no other reason than he finds it funny.

Speaking of weird mental stats, Lae'zel. Intelligence 11, Wisdom 12. This woman deserves better. I don't care that she's a fighter and there are very legitimate gameplay reasons for these numbers being low. She is a massive evil space nerd! She will infodump to you about everything and everyone, takes pride in her intelligence and her education. When her whole world is shattered around her, when everything she's ever known turns out to be a lie, she takes it the best of any companion, rationalises her situation, and promptly makes an action plan for her new life. And she does it while being only 22. She deserves high mental stats. Make her an eldritch knight.

Shadowheart. Awful, awful gameplay stats. But consider- Trickery Domain cleric, spent her whole life learning to be sneaky and subtle, based around stealth. 9 in Dexterity? It almost makes me feel like the canon choice for her would be to respec to Light Cleric post act 2, because she's just so unsuited for the role she's in.

Karlach and Wyll- I don't actually have a problem with their stats. Gale, on the other hand...

Gale has 12 charisma. Now, this would make sense, except if you look at both the player bases reaction to him and character's in-game reaction to him, this is just obviously not the case. He comes across, depending on your perspective, either like he's hiding something (he's not) or just really autistic. Gale likes to think he has 12 charisma, but he actually has like 8. When his schtick works, it's because his negative rizz rolled round into the positives.

And finally, Gale's default wisdom is 10. This is too high. It should be 8, at maximum. If they wanted it to be lore accurate, they should bend the rules of the game to make it 6.

this is really only a small point in the end, but like... the first thing that made us solidly go "nope!" about the idea of a school for plurals was the mention of everyone having a badge connected to simplyplural that would show the current fronter.

like, not even going into the personal part, our first point is: who would manage the simplyplural account, first of all? taking us, for example, doing shit on our phone is incredibly difficult and overwhelming. there's a reason why we don't answer 90% of asks we get (on this blog, on the plurillean-confessions blog, etc) on our phone, and as far as we can tell, simplyplural is primarily a mobile app (actually, we're trying to register on the web, and it just straight up is not working--either it tells us that our password isn't valid even though it is, or it gets stuck in a loading loop). and there's probably folks who would struggle to manage a simplyplural themselves in general, regardless of where it was.

okay, so, then who would manage the account if the person it's for can't? we sure as hell wouldn't trust someone else to manage something that's so personal, let alone someone who is meant to be an authority figure, so that puts staff entirely out of the picture if you're trying to make this a safe and comfortable place. and of course, there's every chance that whoever is chosen to manage the simplyplural just... won't listen to the system in question. won't add new members the system says are there for whatever reason, won't change pronouns or apeparances, etc.

alright. alrightalrightalright. put managing it to the side. let's talk about the display of who's fronting, right? two problems i can immediately foresee:

(1a) privacy. this is immediately a huge concern for privacy, say for headmates who want to log themselves fronting, but don't want other people to know they're there. for a while, one of our headmates (Mimic) used a completely different pk proxy while talking in certain servers because it was worried that, if people knew who it was, they would immediately run it out of the place.

(2a) multiple fronters at once. unless this badge is huge or the text or whatever else is on there is tiny, how are you going to manage multiple fronters? multiple badges? okay, how many badges is the maximum? because, for example, when Wolf fronts, all of us are always there. so that's immediately 6 people. and usually, there's more than just Wolf. often, other folks such as Arratay, Parrot, and Lewis are around. that's 9 people all fronting at once. how are you going to deal with that?

and (2b) hey, the whole point of showing who's fronting is to show who is talking, right? what about in cases where someone blips in for a few seconds to add in a random comment before leaving? what if this regularly happens to the point where it could get confusing about who said what unless someone shows up on the badge (like with us, where mentioning a certain headmate or something they're interested in will get their attention, and they'll often send in a quick "hi" or a short (or long) infodump about whatever we're talking about before promptly leaving)?

oh, and not to mention (2c + 1b) what about headmates who front a lot because of something, but don't talk? if they're fronting, they'd supposedly show on the badge, but it wouldn't be them talking. some months ago, we joined a server for a game that was a special interest of Guppy's, and ze would pretty much be in front every time we were playing the game or engaging with the server. note: ze never said a single word, ze always had someone else talking for hir because ze was too anxious to talk to people and let people know ze was there.

and then, of course (2d) what about systems who are almost constantly blurry? who often have multiple headmates fronting at once, but when they're fronting, it's basically just thoughts-and-feelings soup that can't easily be separated into "headmate 1" and "headmate 2"? or systems that struggle to figure out who specifically is fronting for one reason or another? what then?

i don't know. maybe it's just us, but that comment was the very first thing that really put us off. (and then, of course, followed by the whole "ooo it's an experiment!" thing.) that was the thing that immediately put a sour taste in our mouth. it's small potatoes compared to... everything else, but we were really put off by it (and we're honestly surprised nobody else has said anything about it).

busting down the door of your blog here. don't worry i'll fix it. anyways moving to the askbox so that i can have Maximum Rambling Power: The Professor is indeed aroace, but that aroaceness has layers to it (ex. he indulges in sexual humor, he has a spanking kink, he occasionally flirts with Sara Rubin). Me personally, I feel like all of the things they do and say that can be considered romantic and sexual are all Bits™ that the Professor finds funny because they have a fucked up sense of humor like that. It is a universal aroace experience to realize that sex and romance are at least a little silly and make jokes about it, so the Professor is leaning into that. The 5th episode also made me realize how much of a masochist the Professor is (he asked Ryan to punch him in the stomach??? For the bit???), but this isn't necessarily him expressing his sexual side. They're Just Fucked Up Like That (again: it's Very Funny to him)

Now does this headcanon conflict with one-sided Ryfessor on the Professor's part? (I hope you don't mind me pivoting to this) Absolutely not. I think it enhances it actually. So far, the only romance they're confirmed to have ended with them fucking selling the beanie baby—the mistresses do not count, I think they hired them solely to infodump with someone about history and also get kisses because they're touch-starved. He Is Terrible At Romance is what I'm saying, and I don't think he's good at handling romantic feelings either because he so rarely experiences them. So when they start catching feelings for Ryan, they go into panic mode because what the hell is this??? I feel like he caught them pretty early in the show, and as a response, he tries to make himself hate Ryan and make Ryan hate him as much as possible so that he can squash those feelings like a bug, hence the start of a bitter rivalry that ended with him literally getting murdered. Lol. Lmao even.

I think after everything from S5 got sorted out, the Professor realized his strategy Did Not Work At All, so he just pivoted to being the bestest friend he could be. One of my favorite tropes ever is someone who catches romantic feelings and, instead of being sad over not getting together, uses those romantic feelings to enhance their platonic relationship, and I think it'd be really sweet if this applies to the Professor. They suck at it at first since they're still messed up from everything that happened in S4 and S5, but I think S7 is where they get the hang of it. The Professor completely respects Ryan's marriage to Mari and wishes them well, but that won't stop him from fantasizing occasionally and being at least a little weird around Ryan. And now we're here. At S7. With the Professor calling Ryan their jester. Oh my god.

I haven't been posting much this past week because a lot of my creative energy is going towards 2 portal future fics i'm working on (one is the new chapter of knight and his sun, the other is an au where jaxon takes a civilian sabbatical after the drago 2781 sequence and develops a whistleblower organization on earth about the welfare of handicapped children)

what's your phineas and ferb episode rating

Oh boy I’m so glad you asked this with 0 prompting!!

Decidedly the infodumping is going to go UNDER the cut lmao

Since sometime in late May (I don’t have my notebook to check when exactly) my brother and I have been watching every episode of Phineas and Ferb in order to score each individual episodes to rank them!!

We just watched We Call it Maze // Ladies and Gentlemen, Meet Max Modem! last night and have ranked a little over 100 episodes total!!

The scoring system works like this:

We score each individual plot of the episode (usually A, B, C) and then average them for the “Plot” score. We do it this way because it is of my own personal opinion that the best Phineas and Ferb episodes have 3 distinct plot lines that are all equally focused on and overlap in how the episode is resolved. The plot score makes up a total of 50% of the final score making it the most important.

Songs get their own category that is worth 30% of the final score. This is the second most important because songs are a significant part of every episode (especially if it’s 11 minutes) and also very important to the show as a whole. For the most part of there are multiple songs then we average the score. Exceptions being if the songs are noticeably different lengths (Secret for Success comes to mind. For that episode we took the ratio of how long all terrain vehicle was compared to the other song in the episode (I don’t remember what it was)). This hasn’t happened very much. For episodes without songs that 30% is redistributed to the other 3 categories because we didn’t think it was fair to give those episodes a 0 (especially rollercoaster which would have gotten a maximum of 7/10 if not done the other way).

The next category is “Rewatchability” or maybe more appropriately named the bias score. My brother and I watch a LOT of Phineas and ferb and there are episodes we gravitate towards a lot. Additional points can be considered if the episode is “iconic” for one reason or another and even if we don’t personally rewatch it as much as another episode the score won’t suffer too much. (Iconic in this case meaning an episode that you would maybe show someone who hasn’t seen the show so they get a good feel for it or understand a common reference). Rewatchability is only worth 10% of the final score.

Final category is Bonus points! Also worth 10% my brother and I both take note of any bit/detail we particularly liked (or didn’t like) and assign a positive or negative value to it. We then take the ratio of positive to negative and that’s the bonus score!!

I’ve been taking hand notes in a journal I got for my birthday that I’ve barely used since and my brother takes digital notes! I keep the overall ranking digitally though :)

We also sometimes have different opinions and so far have just been averaging our two scores if that’s the case.

Since we’ve finished season 1 I do have statistics for that season and plan to do that for the whole show!! I also have separate rankings for just season 1/2 and the whole show.

5 things I enjoy writing meme

I'll start by saying that every creator has a series of themes and motifs that especially resonate with them and show up again and again in their most powerful works, and I'm no exception. The #vein of gold tag on my blog is devoted specifically to those posts which capture mine when I find them in the wild. Learning to articulate this both visually and verbally was one of the most rewarding exercises I ever did, allowing me to specifically customize my fics for maximum personal appeal instead of hitting it by accident.

That said, here are some more general things that don't quite fit into the tag but I still enjoy writing:

Awkward situations - I really love forcing characters to be uncomfortable, not necessarily in the sense of 'big dramatic terrible things' like injury or death, but in small, petty, but no less impactful ways. These are often, but not always, social, but they don't have to be--I like a certain level of realism even in my fantasies, which translates into a lot of low-level annoyances that are often omitted from stories. I know a lot of people write specifically to get away from that, but I love it precisely because it's so rarely modeled in fiction and it's so true to life.

Experimenting with different structures, formats, styles, tropes, and POVs -- if I read something innovative or cool or different, I instantly want to play in the same sandbox and write my own version of it. Basically, I'll try almost anything at least once, just for the hell of it and as a personal challenge.

Meta essays are like infodumping, but more organized and with citations and once you write them, you can just drop the link instead of endlessly repeating yourself. :)

Witty banter and snark, my beloved! Also puns, wordplay, and literary allusions - anything where I get to exercise my zany sense of humor, which often goes hand in hand with crack scenarios.

I also really like writing for specific people - I do a lot of exchanges, and I enjoy the challenge of finding that sweet spot where my recipient's tastes and my tastes overlap, especially since tailoring a fic to a specific audience is an essential writing skill. Sometimes I'll get an idea and just know someone who would like it, and it's fun to give gifts for any or no reason! Writing can be lonely, so I appreciate the social aspects of fandom, and the interactivity, especially when it generates new and interesting ideas I never would have come up with on my own.

I am the place where memes and tag games go to die, but if anyone reading this feels inspired to join in, please do so!

I resurrected my tumblr to infodump on ya'll about my feelings about some Terror serial killers.

Angel of mercy killer Goodsir, and just... plain ol serial killer Hickey.

Goodsir is so obsessed with his role in ending pain, and so afraid of it (possi ly because it represents his own failure, as well?) that he has taken to ending people long before they are really ready to die

Pretty much every pairing you think of can be jumbled up in here- these are a bunch of sluts with a maximum morality of "ambiguous". Except I'd never write Hickey actually fucking anyone or having anyone love him :)

I think I'd have endgame GoodSilna- Silna has some objectively awful things happen to her and is sent to see Goodsir as a result, but everything about her is so interesting and inspiring to him. As he realizes Silna's important contribution to society as a disabled first nations woman, he begins to also see that everyone he killed probably had something important to give to the world, despite their pain. Dunno that I could ever write him being truly redeemed, but uuuh... Silna's not entirely mentally and morally well either, as I've mentioned about everyone.

Hickey is just a fucked up little rat who kills people for fun and personal gain. He's got a crush on the detective who has been trying to catch him for years, Crozier. Goodsir knows of Hickey and hates his guts- he's the antithesis of everything Goodsir stands for (or so he thinks- actions matter a lot more than intentions, doc). He'll meet a bad end.

There are plenty of other connections between other characters. Goodsir has seen Crozier as a doctor, but subconsciously didn't think him worthy of "mercy" bc of his alcoholism (awards Goodsir one Yike), and his cna Jopson takes it upon himself to become Crozier's friend and caretaker (price- one old man whiskey dick, except he's very very unlikely to get that bc of Crozier's guilt). Fitzjames used to be John Franklin's sugar baby affair partner- sir John's tendency to brag about his vintage gun collection was overheard by Hickey, and he met his unfortunate demise because of it. Well... not that unfortunate. James still gets to keep most of the stuff he was enjoying.

• misfortune is very obviously different from the other kids that morgo or benji has seen: she can see and hear them, which they are both surprised at; she can see the other children that have gone missing (hiro being the most notable); she can see the ultra reality (hiro getting pulled back away from her); she can also read the language of the second reality

3. What’s your system name if you have one, and how did you choose it?

Pffft. This one isn't very creative lol.

Anyways. Our system name is Rusanya (short for "The Rusanya Collective," which happens to be short for "The Rusanya[n] Collective/Federation of Subsystems and Sidesystems" lol) and we actually came up with it when we were much smaller than this on the assumption we would not stay as small as we were as "a" system at the time. We had to have been like....twenty-five people, at maximum, back then.

9. How long have you been a system and/or known of your system? and 10. How did you discover your system? What was the process?

We will just answer these together as they kind of segway into each other honestly. We've been a system since birth and, well...we think we've just never had the words to describe it we guess. There's a lot of things that kind of point us in that direction. We have talked about it several times in many places, but if we may do a quick review for the class:

We could "see ghosts" in preschool through first grade that may have actually been headmates. Which is further proven by Ricky never being in our yearbooks for elementary school, like, at all.

WE FUCKING FORGOT ABOUT CHRISTOPHER WHEN WE FIRST POSTED THIS OH MY GOD so like Christopher was this like, extremely immature middle school boy who we swear to god was literally just out there to hurt us when we were in preschool. Blonde dude with bright blue eyes and a buzzcut iwrc LOL. The teacher would always pull him to the side to "talk to" Christopher about the bullying but their responses made no sense in the context of the things Christopher would say to her. Like, that seems very blatantly plural to us especially since he was one of the most clearly autonomous folks in the little system group we had at the time in our headspace or whatever.

Also from first grade: we went from BBQ sauce being spicy and burning our tongue once to it not being spicy at all, like, literally, as it was as soon as the teacher stated there's no way for it to be spicy. Which sort of makes us think we were already either splitting by then or just straight up had multiple selves already and we just never fucking thought about it. Like, we didn't know that was Not Normal. We did not have any spectacularly traumatic events that we can recall in our life until late middle first grade to very late first grade, and this was an incident from maybe our first month or so being in first grade.

The projection thing happened a lot at home too, but it was one specific squirtle (pokemon) instead of Christina, Kelli, and Ricky, and they really just seemed to like dance? Or stereotypical mariachi bands? Anyways, that squirtle and then Christina and Kelli kind of fused into one individual, while Raymond and Ricky stayed their own separate people.

Raymond has described before the unintentional process of creating a second person to control the body when it left the realm of our consciousness. Many times -- it's actually a little horrific how much this man remembers of our childhood and how well everything he as said thus far fits together with Just Everything.

Our fascination with like, "possession" and stuff that was similar to it through a conceptual lens, even though we HATED horror movies.

Our first trauma-based incident where we can discern an actual person coming from it was late elementary school. "Late Elementary School," here means fourth and fifth grade, specifically fifth grade. There were certainly things before that but nobody had really split off from us at that point. We can literally figure out where Silva came from, and possibly Grapefrost, down to the time period because of it. Grapefrost has a literal clay mask they made of herself in fifth grade of elementary. Like, we have been around for Forever. We just had zero clues.

Our first soulbonding experiences were likely in middle school. We had very weird obsessions with "what if X character were in OUR WORLD???" and even had this Secret Thing where we would let them "see through my/our eyes," which in all honesty is probably how we learned to switch. Like.

We literally learned to switch without the help of other systems. That probably sounds absolutely insane to plurals these days, but even back in the early 2000s, 2010s, unless you were like, explicitly aware of plurality -- which was often assumed to be heavily medicalized and called MPD; maybe DID and DD-NOS later on -- honestly we think this is kind of a miracle. In that nobody noticed and in that we learned two switch in the first place. (Insert comment here about "kids these days" but like, in a positive way.)

We actually ended up running into the concept of endogenic systems specifically in high school. And then subsequently forgetting about it LOL. We made an account specifically to ask a (now-defunct) tumblr blog if "curious singlets" could follow to learn to be better allies LOOOOL. Nobody creates a tumble account solely to send a question like that unless they were already endogenic, sorry. Meanwhile we also had Gon and Killua from HunterxHunter projecting themselves in the middle of our speech classroom and the rest of us trying our best to not get distracted, and thought this was just what everyone meant by having characters running through your head.

We don't exactly know where this lies in the spectrum of our timeline yet, but there was definitely a one-time event where a SHITTON of plural stuff happened all at once: we were on the swings at the park at [REDACTED] -> we were sitting there and we were talking to ourselves internally while on the swings. some people near us has been talking about the USian flag for some reason. -> not only did we have a whole discussion about how fucked up the us is internally, as a system, we had several Hetalia fictives who had just been Sick Of This Shit(TM), with the This Shit(TM) being sick of their canon and how its unfolded just in general as well as "in realtime" as we jokingly put it these days. So someone LITERALLY sent out little aura strings to bring them back to our system, because why the fuck not? -> Anyways, our headmate Ghost switched to front right after that and gave their piece on the USian flag just to be informed that discussion was "five minutes ago," and it took literally EVERYTHING in us to not have an Autistic meltdown and scream at them that they were lying. We don't normally look at or even think about body language if we can help it but there was just...an atmosphere of confusion from these people even when we pushed it even a bit that was Very Different than our experiences with gaslighting, so we just...did not push it more than that. We think this is maybe when some of us made that promise to never be separated again as a system? But like everyone who lives here in our head is very aware of the promise regardless of if they were there or not back then haha. Like it's a whole discussed and disseminated thing.

When we were teeny tiny little things we though Yu-Gi-Oh! was fucking stupid as a premise because we just thought Everyone Was Like That(TM). We fucking despised it and avoided it like the plague because it was uncomfortable how much of a caricature it felt like things were, but, y'know. Toddlers and elementary schoolers probably can't explain that very well.

The reason we were thinking about Yu-Gi-Oh years later was because we once again ran into the system community at university and started doing some basioc looking-things-up. Sysmedicalists and anti-endogenics in particular were extremely uncomfortable for us to look at. We mainly just ignored them tbh.

When writing our university essays in our earlier years, some of us would literally type in different colors, fonts, and use different brackets when giving ourselves input on rough drafts. Yeah, sure, that's totally a thing singlets do arewerite????

Pretty sure the reason we found out we were a system was because Nagisa from Assassination Classroom decided to talk back to us about our headcanons, actually, at least from this fronter's perepsective. Which is fucking funny because soulbonding isn't even inherently plural, but there's a large association between the two and whoever was fronting at the time just went: "HOLY SHIT THAT'S POSSIBLE??" because, if we recall correctly, we found the idea of soulbonding alongside/close to a mention/discussion of endogenic systems. Like if it wasn't right next to each other, then we must have looked at one first and then the other in quick succession and then something clicked. If we ever find our exact trail ever again, we will definitely try to put it back together again.

We think we came out online about a year or so later, and offline followed a couple of months after that to a degree. We are now pretty blatant about it. Online we make it a big deal and offline we don't like, make it a huge thing unless you're a fuckign fed, but like, we don't try to hide it either lol. :3

late teens to early/mid 20's (depending on when you catch him, but usually i'd say he's 21/22)

Half human, half incubus

Both of his parents were also half demons, his mother being half succubus and half filipino, while his father is half argentine and half incubus

The earlier eras of his origin are a bit difficult to map out because there are two versions that i particularly liked

the one I usually go with is he escaped hell when he was around seven and ended up in modern day london

the other one is that his family escaped hell when he was one and lived in spain for two years before his parents were exorcised and killed (right in front of him too!)

this is a bit complicated to explain, but because they were kinda in hiding, they diguised themselves as a christian/catholic (whichever one is more predominant in spain) family and attended church on sundays. well, they (his parents) were found out and he ended up as an orphan for some time. this is kinda where my universe splits into dc or bsd universes, but ill infodump those later

this is actually the aroace character i was talking about on my examples post.

he has a diffuculty understanding where exactly he lies on that spectrum, so he remains aroace unlabelled (idk how to describe that part)

he doesn't experience much sexual ot romanctic attraction despite the fact that he is an incubus, which is ironic

as for gender, i had three paths for how this went bc a) i didn't know what i liked more, and b) because i can and i also don't care whats in his pants a signed polaroid of conan gray, wait where did you get this?!

the one i thought was the best fit for him was a trans man, but the realisation for him was a lil silly

as a child he usually had his hair short and he wore what boys normally wore

he looked like a boy so thats what he got raised as

demon anatomy is different to humans, but still pretty similar (im not expanding on that, but unless anton takes up his demon form, he looks like a regular human)

anyway, when his body started changing, he panicked bc he didn't look like the other boys

thats when john realised his mistake but not mistake and then ended up starting to raise him like a girl

which anton didnt like for obvious reasons

then he learned that he could actually change his physical body thanks to his demonic ability, so he managed to pass as a guy (oh to feel that euphoria)

when i talk about his tattoos later, the meaning of some would probably make a little more sense with this story

my second favourite idea would probably be genderfluid anton as in he can take different standard forms because why not

i did imply that demons (specifically incubi/succubi) can manipulate their bodies to how they (or their partner if applicable) desire

so using that, anton would be like "HAHA, I STOLE YOUR GENDER!"

my idea of him is very chaotic and i love him

for his human forms however, min height is 5'5 (165 cm), avg height is 5'7 or 5'8 (170-172 cm) and max height is 6'2 (188 cm)

he likes using his max human height most often because he likes being tall

my boy is tanned, ofc he is he has hispanic blood

however, his hair is dyed blond and he is too lazy to touch up his roots so he just has blonde hair with brown roots
