Wrote this a while ago, to expand on my vision of Bruce being fucking ancient, AKA de-aged Bruce with the Justice League
It was very shocking to all of them when the stick exploded in a blast of green smoke, robots clattering to pieces around them without being touched at the same time. Superman rushed to Batman’s side, concerned, only to find him gone.
Or, rather, replaced.
The boy was drowning in Batman’s costume, the gauntlets and pieces of armour and pants all drooping around him as he stood awkwardly in Batman’s chest piece. He tore off Batman’s cowl, confusion marring his features, revealing a head of ruffled black hair and bright blue eyes. He was incredibly tiny, compared to Batman’s looming figure, and seemed like a stiff breeze might knock him over.
“Oh no,” Superman said, since he was the only one who could see through the green fog.
The fog suddenly cleared, as quickly as it came. The boy looked around curiously, his body stiff and his posture speaking of his discomfort. Even the villain looked a bit concerned, in the face of his obvious distress that he seemed to desperately be trying to hide, and the Justice League Members present all felt a bit worried that this nervous boy had replaced Batman.
“Is this…” the boy murmured. He seemed to gather himself. “Is this a ransom demand?”
“Oh my God,” Flash said. “He’s baby Batman.”
“I’m just gonna-“ the villain said, then popped out of existence as she’d come, leaving the Justice League with their new problem.
It took a few minutes for everyone to calm down. The boy refused to move, resolutely, which made planning the next course of action rather difficult.
“Alfred said to stay where I am if I’m ever lost,” the boy stated resolutely. “He can’t find me if I’m wandering around while he’s looking for me. He was very clear.”
“If you would just tell us who Alfred is-“ Superman said, the tenth time.
“I told you,” the boy huffed. “Alfred is my butler. I’m not leaving without him.”
“Do you have a phone?” Flash suggested hopefully.
“Yes,” the boy responded, tilting his head.
“Is Alfred’s number on it? You could call him,” Flash said.
“On it?” the boy repeated. “Why would his number be on it? How would it be on it? Do you think we cover our phones in paper?”
“Handheld phones weren’t invented when he was a child,” Wonder Woman deduced aloud.
“Do you know Alfred’s number?” Superman suggested wearily.
“I do!” the boy exclaimed, excited. “I memorized it first, before anything else.”
He looked around curiously.
“Is there a payphone?” he asked.
There was a weary sigh from all members present.
It took Superman twenty minutes to get the child to input Alfred’s number on his phone. Mostly because he didn’t seem to understand the screen at all, which was slightly amusing, but he also kept dropping it, unsure how to hold the phone in one hand like Superman. For their benefit (and just in case this was a very poorly planned ransom after all) he asked Superman to put it on speaker (also he wanted to see what “speaker” did to the phone).
“Hello?” a posh voice answered the phone.
The boy flinched when the sound came out, then perked up in recognition.
“Alfred!” he exclaimed, carefully taking the phone from Superman’s palm and cradling it between his hands like it was a fragile bird. “This is Bruce.”
There was a moment of silence. It was nice to know the kid’s name, everyone thought. It would sure be nice if we knew Batman’s name, to know for sure if they’re the same person, everyone thought.
“Master Bruce,” Alfred said. “How old are you?”
“I’m twelve, Alfred,” Bruce replied, as though the question was completely normal.
“I see,” Alfred responded immediately. “May I speak to whomever found you?”
“Would you like to speak to Alfred?” Bruce asked Superman, his eyes big and hopeful.
“Sure,” Superman replied. Because he was a sucker.
It took a few minutes for Alfred to convince them that yes, Bruce was Batman, this small child grew up to be Batman, Batman is only human, that’s why he was small at the age of twelve, really, he is being serious, the pouting boy is Batman. He explained that they had a plan for this turn of events, but that it would have to be put off, because Poison Ivy escaped from Arkham and the streets would be too dangerous for a young boy as curious as Bruce. He asked very politely if they would keep him entertained at the Watchtower for a few days.
“I don’t think any of us are really that good with children,” Superman stated, watching as Flash tried to explain to Wonder Woman that she shouldn’t throw the kid in the air, no matter how much he asked, because she threw too hard.
“Master Bruce was always a remarkably easy child for babysitters,” Alfred told him. “If he does wrong, he usually gets too guilty at himself to do much other than apologize.”
“Alfred!” a voice screamed in the background. “Jason stole my cape!”
“You’re being a dick!” another voice exclaimed.
“You can’t keep using that just because my name is Dick!” the other roared.
“I have to go,” Alfred said, though he sounded remarkably calm. “Aside from Poison Ivy, Master Dick is visiting. I do not want him to try and teach his de-aged father anything bad.”
“What?” Superman questioned.
“Alfred!” the first voice whined.
“Alfie, tell ‘em he’s bein’ a jerk!” the second voice grumbled.
“Put Master Bruce on the phone,” Alfred ordered.
Superman gave Bruce the phone. Bruce cradled the device again, staring at it with large eyes.
“I have to go, Master Bruce,” Alfred told him. “Please be good for the Justice League.”
“Of course,” Bruce replied.
“Go to bed on time, even if they try to teach you bad habits,” Alfred ordered.
“I will, Alfred,” Bruce said, determinedly.
“Goodbye, Master Bruce. I’ll call you again at a more appropriate time and we can talk.”
Bruce hummed. There was a long moment of silence. It was a good thing Alfred hung up, because Bruce eventually looked up at Superman and asked, very politely, “How do I know if the call is disconnected?”

Watching the Spanish dub of Archer and I think I mentioned that Archer and Don have the same Spanish VA. So, Zara, the new character introduced in this season, is dubbed by Cristina Yuste and she's my voice actress headcanon for Carmen! So I get to hear Don and Carmen be snarky with each other.

For everyone who replied to the poll about Solas killing the Inquisitor and thinks he would.
You're good.
And those who disagree.
You're good too.
We have no idea about who Solas is, who he was before. We're all still guessing and that's the fun of it.
Also ao3 is a life saver, man, y'all are creative on there! My heart 😂how many ways people can come up with different paths for Solas to destroy me emotionally.

Hi, today I came into a realization, and I wanted to share it.
We all love to watch movies, anime, drama, or anything. We try everything to escape reality and find comfort in the fantasy world, fictional world which is more pretty than ours, more interesting than ours, amazing than ours. We love the feelings we feel while watching k-drama or reading a book. We cry when there is a sad scene, get angry on behalf of the protagonist, feel embarrassed for them, or try to hype them up when they are in a pinch.
We often times want to experience this ourselves, but in all this we forget we are also the main characters of our story. We sometimes also experience the same dramatic things. We just require a different perspective. We just have to take a moment and think of our lives as we are in a movie, and then everything starts feeling different.
For example, yesterday was a total hectic day for me. My office has a cab service, and we get a pick-up time. And at the time of my pick-up, I was at parlor doing my eyebrows. It's just by luck that my cab got delayed, and I was able to make it on time. And I had both also got my eyebrows done and got on that cab.
Now, if I was watching this scene on TV, I would be like, Oh My God is she going to make it or not and I would be that Idiot why does she have to go at that time. If she is going to miss her cab, she will be late for office and get scolded. And I will also be is that idiot likes to get scolded. And then I will be so happy when she makes it to the cab. It will be "uhh" moment the long exhale that we take after being relaxed like that!
And if you think that was it, then you guys are wrong. There was some feud going on between my newly appointed assistant manager and team leader in my office, (as the tl wanted to be the am of our team) and between their feuds, all of the team got wrapped around. We all had pressure on us with whom to side and to decide who was wrong and right in this. After reaching home that night, we all got unexpected calls from our manager to tell us the details about their cold war, we then knew the matter had got out of hand and we had to decide with whom we will side with and as we still couldn't decide with whom we want to side, we all tried to stand on the middle ground like we won't be siding with anyone. After getting a call from our manager, my friends and I had a three-way conference call to talk about it, and shared what he asked with us and what we're our opinions and then we came to know that we three had diffraction opinions about this matter, where as one of my friend and me does not want to get into it, we cam to know that our other friend was the who escalated things by telling our am about what our tl was taking about her. We were shocked at the time and asked why she did that, and then she explained about how our tl was bad mouthing her because she and our newly appointed am were close.
Now, if I was reading a book and the main character was having office issues, I would sympathize with her get angry on her behalf and would absolutely love the drama happening there.
And in all that tension, I had more things going on, my younger sister who is only in her first year in college and lives alone in a hostel in a completely unknown city to was not picking up her phone after going to an event with her friends. It was 8:30 when she told our mother that she had left for home and 9 'O' clock when the hostel warden called my mother to let her know that she had not reached home yet. After that, my mother called her multiple times, and she was not picking up the phone. Then my mother called me in hopes I knew something. (here to be noted that I also live alone in a different city than my parents and sister) I called her and she wasn't picking up the phone I called her friends and they also told me she wasn't picking up the phone. We all went dry on our throat in worry for her. It wasn't till 10:30 that we reached her and she told us that she was stuck in traffic and her phone was in silent. We all were so tensed for her, and we all felt a lot of emotion at that anger was also one of them, but relief was main that she reached her place safely, and nothing bad her happened to her.
Now, when reading this in a book or watching this in a TV I would have mostly felt angry towards the main character younger sister, like how can she keep her phone on silent and what was she really doing that she had to keep her phone silent and how can she make her older sister and her whole family worry like that and if she had a little bit of sense or not.
When today I was thinking about how yesterday went I came to realize I totally live in a movie or a book my life is not different than theirs. These were just small snipets of what I experienced in a day. There must be so much experience like that which I must have experienced in a week a month or even a year. Yesterday made me realize how just having a different view about a thing can totally change the thing. From I would try to think I'm the main character of my favorite book at try to live like that, if my life is like a movie so why not?

re: ao3 isn’t a social media site and this new generation of… i’m not even going to call them writers because most of what they post on there barely qualifies as writing, it’s akin to the meme-y bullshit you’d see top trending over on wattpad for no reason because that too is a story site
i’m starting to be a little reluctant going on ao3 anymore even, all because of that and most of what i said in the previous post.
the other day, when i announced my hiatus, i just so happened to see a post talking about me and you-know-who, someone who follows her and stalks me because of course, lamenting why i don’t just give up already because like loving the dead has 7000 reads now whereas dead man walking and blood & chocolate have a tenth of that, with an implication that the algorithm must have some kind of fault to raise her up but not bury me—fic people in 2023 have this annoying mindset that “you have to say something nice or don’t say anything at all!” okay, fine, i won’t, seeing as you’re going to be totally belligerent about it out the gate.
but, sir, or ma’am, let me spell this out for you to understand. ao3 does not have an algorithm. it’s an archive—it’s even in the name, for god’s sake, archive of our own. because of the absence of an algorithm, reads are practically meaningless on ao3. she could get millions of reads and it quite literally wouldn’t make a difference on there. and arguably, reads on wattpad don’t really matter, either, because they are all about making money. they see shit on there with thousands of hits and all they see is dollar signs no matter how terrible and/or plagiarized it is.
it’s all so influencer-y, and you know how we (and by we, i mean people like me, who’ve been acquainted with sites like this for a long time) all love those.
“it has 7000 reads”, so? that’s not the work of an algorithm, that’s people going back and revisiting it to bump up the read count thinking there’s an algorithm. that’s also why temple’s fics have gotten nowhere on there, too: she never tags her fics properly so they sink like a stone.
either you and everyone else who’s gotten an account on there since 2020/2021 don’t understand how archives work and tiktok has completely scrambled your brains into thinking all sites move so quickly and all sites operate by algorithms and likes thereby artificially creating a vacuum, or you simply fail to see this because you’ve been conditioned and you refuse to think critically. except i think petty scumbags like her with egos the size of planet earth really will cater to your gullibility and make you believe that reposting shit and dragging out petty drama when i stopped caring a long time ago for as long as possible is the right thing to do when i really don’t understand what she’s trying to prove when it’s pointless. and no, if anything, if i recall correctly, that’s actually against ao3’s terms of service. only repost if you absolutely have to, like what i did with blood & chocolate. and if nothing else, if the t.o.s. doesn’t forbid that, it’s just bad etiquette, like i’m somewhat surprised no one has said anything about it to her or temple because she’s reposted a few things, too (probably because she sees that “hate mail” but i can’t really say for certain. i gave up trying to dissect her logic a long time ago and i still can’t crack it 🤷🏻‍♀️).
the other thing to drive this home is look at this:
Tumblr media
that’s just one example, too, there’s posts like this all over the place there, mainly in the band tags, which i find really interesting. yes, i’m as kinky as the next person but this is what i’m talking about with this new influx of users treating the place like just another social media site. listen, i come onto a site like ao3 like i’m going to the library or the bookstore, (especially where i live because the library in town completely sucks and i have to drive 50 miles just to even see a barnes and noble), not because i want more ~~~~m U t U a L s~~~~ good lord, you guys have seriously made that word and the word “partner” radioactive to me, like i’m going to die a slow painful death if i get exposed to enough grays of either one.
wattpad started falling victim to this about three years ago, except there you get shit like this taking the top spots in the tag and they rake in the money: on ao3, it just falls down the tag when a fic updates and it just winds up taking up space and it looks really bad as a result. yes, i opened up the death and exodus tags for you to have more people to hit you up, yes. you’re fucking welcome 🙃 (grateful i haven’t seen one of those in the testament and/or a.s.t. tags. the day there is, it’s all hands on deck.)
i’d say go to fetlife or, um… hello? WRITE A FIC THAT CATERS TO THAT KINK??? but i guess that would be asking too much, though, because not only does no one in this current generation listen but they apparently can’t read and string a coherent sentence together if the prevalence of “or whatever’s” and the like is anything to go by. and it’s just too much work, too, you’d be pulling from your trauma too much, it would hurt too much so you gloss over details and i feel incredibly short-changed—I don’t know if it’s because i’m older and in a different headspace, but i can’t be the only one who finds this weird: you put yourself in writing, absolutely without question, but heaven forbid anyone doesn’t like it. not everyone is going to like or understand you, and not everyone is as hypersensitive as you are that critical thinking goes right out the window, that’s just life. and storytelling is incredibly therapeutic, too, i speak from experience on that.
but really, when my mom was at her at-home job last year, she would get callers from around this age group (teenagers to about mid-20-somethings) and from what she’s told me about them, none of these people could speak coherently and they couldn’t think of the simplest things. “it’s this or something, whatever.” It’s the exact same story here. it makes me wonder when was the last time anyone in this age group has read a physical book, or a newspaper, an actual newspaper. when we were in monterey this past weekend, there were newsstands everywhere, and yup, you guessed it: most of the stacks of newspapers were fresh and full. most people are not buying them. most, anyway.
i see shit on twitter saying, “gen z is returning to physical books and flip phones from the 2000s!” but you look to find the gen z people they interviewed were well off to begin with so that’s not a good statistic to draw from, and where can you even find a flip phone anymore? i haven’t seen one of those in almost a decade. a digital camera, you can find, but i wouldn’t know where to find a flip phone anymore. the legit writers from this group that i do find every now and again are out there, but they’re not very visible. i have to sift through the inane illiterate bullshit that’s all but obliterated the very craft of writing a damn good story as well as my hope that i’m not really alone in this.
(or they follow the green druidess thinking she’s out here writing gone with the wind when her writing has gotten so bad in recent months. really, state of euphoria had what it had but i could follow it easily. i read like loving the dead out of morbid curiosity and i don’t remember anything that happened in that chapter.)

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again
#yeehaw#1k#5k#10k#posts that got cursed. blasted. im making these tag updates after... 19 hours?#also i have been told it should say speech loss bc nonverbal specifically refers to the permanent state. did not know that!#unfortunately i fear it is so far past containment that even if i edited it now it would do very little. but noted for future reference#edit 2: nvm enough ppl have come to rb it from me directly that i changed the wording a bit. hopefully this makes sense#also. in case anyone is curious. though i doubt anyone who is commenting these things will check the original tags#1) my friend did not do this on purpose in any way. it was not intended to distract me or to hit on me. im a lesbian hes a gay man. cmon now#he felt very bad about it afterwards. i thought it was hilarious but it was very embarrassed and apologetic#2) “why didn't he use 🫵🏼?” didn't exist yet. “why didn't he use 🆗?” dunno! we'd been using a lot of hand emojis. 👌🏼 is an ok sign#like it makes sense. it was just a silly mixup. also No i did not invent 👉🏼👌🏼 as a gesture meaning sex. do you live under a rock#3) nonspeaking episodes are a recurring thing in my life and have been since i was born. this is not a quirky one-time thing#it is a pervasive issue that is very frustrating to both myself and the people i am trying to communicate with. in which trying to speak is#extremely distressing and causes very genuine anguish. this post is not me making light of it it's just a funny thing that happened once#it's no different than if i post about a funny thing that happened in conjunction w a physical disability. it's just me talking abt my life#i don't mind character tags tho. those can be entertaining. i don't know what any of you are talking about#Except the ppl who have said this is pego/ryu or wang/xian. those people i understand and respect#if you use it as a writing prompt that's fine but send it to me. i want to see it#aaaand i think that's it. everyday im tempted to turn off rbs on it. it hasn't even been a week
