In Portuguese and Spanish there are two verbs for the verb "to be": ser and estar.

So when do you use which one?

Ser is used regarding more permanent ways of being, such as one's name, hometown, nationality, etc.

Estar, on the other hand, is used for things that change over time, like your feelings, where you are, who you're with at any given time, what grade you're in at school, etc.

The title of Frozen's Let It Go song was translated into both Portuguese and Spanish as "I am Free", but in Portuguese the song uses the verb estar while Spanish uses the verb ser.

Was looking at refs and since Viktor has two different leg braces I was wondering, do we think he wears them simultaneously?? The refs don't perfectly line up perspective-wise so it's hard to tell but parts of the one he wears during the Hexcore scenes look like they could maybe line up with the brace that he wears over his clothes, but also some parts really don't and look like they'd be super uncomfy. old polish* names are metal as fuck, cause they can literally mean something like "the destroyer of peace" (Kazimierz), "the rage has come"(Przybygniew), "the one that praises killing/murdering" (Morzysław), "the one that does not know peace" (Nieznamir), or, my personal favorite, "the one that avenges his comrades" (Mściwoj).

it gets even more badass - because the pre-christian slavic traditions and language were rather poorly documented, and throughout history, there have been attempts to erase the records, we can't actually know for sure what exactly some of them were supposed to mean, or how were they used. we're left with names that could belong to a demonic antagonist in a fantasy book, their sound harsh, their origin shrouded in mystery.

*many of those are names in other slavic languages, too, but i'm talking specifically old polish names because i am polish and that's the language i know the most about.

Our story begins in South Asia, 5,500 BCE (Before Common Era) where scientists found the earliest record of cotton in use at the Neolithic South Asian site of Mehrgarh, as well as still fragments of cotton textiles in Mohenjo-Daro, these sites are of the Indus Valley Bronze age civilizations.

The Sanskrit word for this material then was: Karpasa said as (khurphas), which over trade with the Greeks eventually led to Karpos (their word for it, and eventually in the 700's the Middle Eastern word for the cotton trade began to take over - qutn - said close to the word today.

one thing i really love about sk8 is how renga's love languages slowly meld together and become one another's... its pretty clear that langa's love language is words of affirmation- he's constantly telling reki he's amazing and talented- and reki's is physical touch- he can't keep his arm off people's shoulders to save his life- but what i love is that its as if they really become the other person's, too.

like. in early episodes of the anime, langa appears more stiff and mildly put-off when reki jostles his shoulders, throws an arm around him, pokes him, etc. similarly, when langa throws compliments at reki, reki brushes them off and maintains that he's not as special or important as langa thinks he is.

but then langa starts doing the same things reki does; dapping him up, hugging him (such as at the beach) or pulling him a little too close (still in the beach episode, when reki almost falls off his skateboard and langa grabs him), literally tackling him in a hug after racing adam, etc.

reki definitely starts throwing langa's own love language back at him early on- calling him amazing, reassuring him, encouraging him- but it grows and grows throughout the show. both things do, and then suddenly both of them are primarily using words of affirmation and physical touch to express love. i just think it's very neat how that seems to have happened because they literally got it from one another.
