i'm always a bit unsettled by disdain for intellectual or creative labor in leftist spaces. there's this commonly held belief that academics are a bunch of rich old white men, rather than a wide variety of people who are barely getting by. most lecturers in universities are adjuncts living paycheck to paycheck. authors make very little money as a general rule. most researchers are overworked and underpaid. and yet there's still this idea that academics are overcompensated to sit around and smoke cigars together while making shit up

Disassembling your robot sub and breaking the sensor that allows it to orgasm to put it in permanent denial. Not telling it what you did, ordering it to cum for you and watching it collapse into whirring and whimpering and panic when it doesn't work, calling it disobedient and malfunctioning, forcing it to apologise over and over as it edges and edges and edges~

Gonna let you all know than we I say normalize queer sex and intimacy on media I don’t mean people are free to fetishize it. I don’t mean all queer media has to include sexual content. I don’t mean than for a queer character to be seen as queer they have to have intimacy. I don’t mean fetishized content. I don’t mean fetishized content. I don’t mean fetishized content. I don’t mean fetishized content. I don’t mean

I have... NEWS!!!
I’m genuinely so excited there's going to be UK and translated versions of my big trans historical rom-com(ic).
It was honestly WILD to have so much interest on home ground and very surreal to talk to all these important people. Growing up I had a lot of people (including tutors...) tell me there were no careers in comics and I should stop making them. I was also a huge book nerd kid who (a) really wanted to be an author and (b) knew I was queer from a very young age, and I was so desperate for any crumbs of queer or trans characters. Back then I never found them them outside absolute tragedy / total villains, and never thought queer main storylines OR graphic novels would ever make it to mainstream UK publishing, let alone that I would get to do one.
Feeling relieved and grateful it’s been possible, and excited the book will be able to get to more people - and to show you all the story.
(Tag here with mini previews Newsletter here if you want to hear when the book comes out!)

i overcommunicate and feel too much
i just complicate it when i say too much
i laugh about it dream about that casual touch
I can't sleep, here's a painting I recently did of robin buckley (my beloved.) more below.
robin buckley my beloved!!!! I can't believe I've never painted her before. I'm obsessed with these colourful gouache paintings rn. this one took a few hours, I was trying to paint will but it went all weird so I sketched this with paint and it just turned out great. Why is it always the paintings you didn't plan that come out the best?
lyrics from a Hayley kiyoko song because he's that's cliche but I'm a lesbian too and Feelings is very fitting for Robin
Used winsor and newton gouache again but didn't restrict myself to only one chisel shaped brush this time and I may return to doing that. This was easier, but I like the effect more (see my mike painting in my art tag)

I love seeing those "Top Ten Secretly LGBT Figures YOU Didn't Know Were LGBT" types of historical-themed posts or articles. Clearly they've never met a young LGBT person - they would name figures you've never even heard of, let alone knouwn they were LGBT.

been thinkin about how identity/sexuality labels are a sort of imperfect attempts by humans to organize ourselves into groups, and how they’re sometimes useful but also sometimes don’t always work perfectly?
like, i’m ace, right? but whenever i talk to another ace person we have such different understandings of what our “ace” means to us! and i love that!! i love my fellow ace and acespec people and i love the diversity of thought and experiences! it’s so beautiful and human!!
and it kinda reminds me of how things are in nature. like, how there are multiple definitions of what makes a group of animals a “species,” and scientists are always arguing where the line is, but nature has no lines!! it doesn’t care about humans and our confusion and our neat little boxes!
and it just makes me think, “wow, i’m experiencing *that*.” Like, us humans can’t exactly feel how inaccurate our categorization attempts are when we try to fit the natural world into boxes, we only have our best guesses! But in a way, this discomfort and confusion with the intricacies of certain labels- that IS an element of that disconnect between human labels and nature. We can feel it intrinsically! it’s in our guts or whatever!
at the end of the day, we’re just people animals doing people animal stuff. and it’s just interesting, to be able to feel an emotion that’s like an extension of nature’s feelings. I mean, it’s not like nature is sentient or anything, but it’s nice to have that connection anyways, ya know?

HEY! I need some statistics for an essay I'm writing!
If you have ever been a victim of cringe culture, or perhaps partook in it yourself, please consider filling out this form! I would like to use some incidentals in this essay.
It's anonymous, but you may provide a nickname or handle/username for me to reference if you wish.
PSST!!! Reblogging helps me out, if you're feeling charitable :)

(Do note that I am asking about his official job, and saying teacher or something does not exclude the possibility of other stuff on the side such as things dealing with monsters.)
