i see ppl being disappointed/worried about eddie saying he’s straight but like…the conversation was also about disguises? and self-hatred? punishing yourself by not letting yourself feel joy or letting urself get things you want? he literally talked about getting a full beard in the same convo? the entire theme of their talk was that eddie was subconsciously punishing himself? like the first time eddie’s sexuality is brought up it’s in this one conversation? he was also so comfortable and chill about a goddamn fucking PRIEST flirting with him as if last szn he wasn’t avoiding seeing his gf since he didn’t want to sleep with her bc he found out she ALMOST became a nun. like yeah he said he was straight everything else about the scene implied he is very much not.

I don't often work with little kids, I usually prefer to sub in middle or high school classes, but when I do take an elementary job I inevitably get asked "are you a boy or a girl?"

And every time I get that question, I turn it back around on the kid: "What do you think?"

And whatever they say I'll usually go "if you say so!" but my favorite response is always when 1 kid confidently says "girl!" and their friend confidently says "boy!" and then they turn on each other and start arguing.

I love it not because I enjoy my appearance being picked apart and my gender scrutinized, but because it's a) validating to be seen, at least in this circumstance, as somewhat androgynous, and b) it means this is possibly the first time these kids have ever had to think critically about gender, and I'm opening the door a crack for them to consider what gender means and how we enforce it. It's not going to change things immediately, but hey, it gives them food for thought for later in life when these topics are more relevant.

Characters in my style/Always!AU/redesign #3

I made more characters in Always!AU, now we have Jason and Tim!

Alright, to start, I decided to leave Tim with a red mask since I made Dick's blue, it looked much nicer that way, and, like Bruce, Tim has both a cape and wings, in addition to the feathers in his hair like Dick, and yes, I put a piercing in him because yes, look me in the face and dare to say that Timothy Jackson Drake-Wayne wouldn't wear at least one piercing.

And then we have Jason. I liked that in his first appearances in Batman comics, Jason was blond, so here it's the same approach. He was blond, but he dyed his hair black when he became Robin. Now that he's grown up, his hair is still very stained from the dye, looking a little brown, and the white streak is still there, strong and firm, because of the Pits. His eyes are a strange mix of blue and green heterochromia that I removed from his ass because I thought it was cool. In addition to the J scar on his cheek, which I think is iconic, I also gave him one on his lip, and one on his neck, which was done by Ra's, not the Joker. Ra's did this to him during his escape from Talia and Damian, I thought the symbolism would be cool, because in canon (yuck) Bruce throws a Batarang at him trying to save the Joker while Jason was in the "revenge" arc and it hits his neck, but here he got the scar from a shuriken thrown by his "grandfather" while he was on an escape back home, back to his family, no revenge in mind, just family.

I'd like to think his wings would be a mix of a bat's structure, but with feathers, like his wings were sewn back together by Bruce after the Joker broke and tore them apart.

To those in red states and don’t feel safe, there are no words I can think of to ease the terror you and I feel. All I can truly say is you are not alone. You may feel apprehensive or isolated. Stay low, and if you can seek out community in those you trust or even strangers on the internet who are having the same thoughts as you. Community at this time will be the most important thing.

While it is important to stay informed, especially now, stay away from doom scrolling. Mental health is just as important as staying informed, maybe even more.

Anything you come across you think is important to share, make sure it is legit and do extra research. Presently, our most popular social media sites are being used as nothing but propaganda and a way to spread misinformation.

I saw a post that I think is very important to remember. Progress is not linear. We are in for a rough road ahead as Americans, especially those in red states. Sadly we are living through another historical moment and I don’t know how or where we will come out of it as a country.

Just keep moving forward, and keep fighting in any way you are able. That may be protest, donation, sharing important information, voting, making art, or even just cutting those who voted against your rights out of your life. You may not be in a position to take a stand or cut those people out of your life. Just keep living and focus on staying safe.

I feel like I’m rambling now. I mostly just wanted to type this down for my own state of mind. I’ve seen plenty other post that discuss on ways to stay safe, and I have reblogged and will continue to share post like that.
