This is not a bother in the least.

X and Brook start off very rocky, but she is a teenager who has 15 confirmed Maverick kills, and he is an adult treating her like a child. It's a little grating. But. She does eventually calm down and properly grieve everything she's gone through.

There are so many shenanigans. So so many. I can't even put to words lmao.

X and Brook typically hang out. He takes her hiking sometimes, but he has to be careful because she WILL either

1. Start eating all the edible plants she finds

Or 2. Disappear off the face of the Earth and he can no longer find her. The fact that she fell out of a tree is one of the very few reasons he was able to catch her in the first place.

Brook and Axl are partners in crime. They do so many things together. (Fireworks are constantly confiscated. They will do property damage if not monitored.) He also takes her paintballing, much to X's chagrin. Axl is basically an older brother/Uncle to her lol

Zero, she doesn't meet Zero until the Elf Wars are WELL under way. But, he's cool. They get along. When they're not trying to kill each other lol

I am so painfully attached/protective over these versions of Will and Mike, especially Mike and I can’t wait for their bond to grow and for Mike to find the strength to speak up for himself and stop letting people abuse his body. I think he has a long way to go? But it’s those tiny glimpses of possibility/ longing for his life to be better and to be loved properly…all those things that Will sees too, that I’m looking forward to exploring as the story goes on! I am going to up the chapter count for this one. X

Today my therapist introduced me to a concept surrounding disability that she called "hLep".

Which is when you - in this case, you are a disabled person - ask someone for help ("I can't drink almond milk so can you get me some whole milk?", or "Please call Donna and ask her to pick up the car for me."), and they say yes, and then they do something that is not what you asked for but is what they think you should have asked for ("I know you said you wanted whole, but I got you skim milk because it's better for you!", "I didn't want to ruin Donna's day by asking her that, so I spent your money on an expensive towing service!") And then if you get annoyed at them for ignoring what you actually asked for - and often it has already happened repeatedly - they get angry because they "were just helping you! You should be grateful!!"

And my therapist pointed out that this is not "help", it's "hLep".

Sure, it looks like help; it kind of sounds like help too; and if it was adjusted just a little bit, it could be help. But it's not help. It's hLep.

At its best, it is patronizing and makes a person feel unvalued and un-listened-to. Always, it reinforces the false idea that disabled people can't be trusted with our own care. And at its worst, it results in disabled people losing our freedom and control over our lives, and also being unable to actually access what we need to survive.

So please, when a disabled person asks you for help on something, don't be a hLeper, be a helper! In other words: they know better than you what they need, and the best way you can honor the trust they've put in you is to believe that!

Also, I want to be very clear that the "getting angry at a disabled person's attempts to point out harmful behavior" part of this makes the whole thing WAY worse. Like it'd be one thing if my roommate bought me some passive-aggressive skim milk, but then they heard what I had to say, and they apologized and did better in the future - our relationship could bounce back from that. But it is very much another thing to have a crying shouting match with someone who is furious at you for saying something they did was ableist. Like, Christ, Jessica, remind me to never ask for your support ever again! You make me feel like if I asked you to call 911, you'd order a pizza because you know I'll feel better once I eat something!!

I’m curious - people always seem surprised that multiple siblings are queer, as if it’s amazing the gay lightning struck twice so close together.

But human variation is down to our genes and external factors. Siblings are logically more likely to both/all be queer than not.

So a wee poll if you don’t mind!

Anyone can take part, there should be an option for anyone but please let me know in notes if I missed anyone.

For reference: queer is anyone who wouldn’t describe themselves as heterosexual or cis-gendered or allo-sexual. Anyone we would include in the queer group. And if you’re not including people by their own identification, we can have words after…

long story short, we found these two kittens at the bottom of a garbage can!! I don't like to think about how they ended up in there- but we heard them crying while on a walk, and it's very lucky they were so loud! They were scared at first, but now they NEED to be snuggled at all times. Crazy how adaptable kittens are. I'd prefer to rehome them as a pair, but I'd consider adopting them out individually if that's my only option! Please IM me if you're interested in both/either of these babies, or if you have any questions at all!!
