Favorite Episodes of "THE OFFER" (2022)

Below is a list of my favorite episodes from "THE OFFER", Paramount+'s biographical miniseries about producer Albert S. Ruddy's memories of the making of the 1972 Oscar winning film, "THE GODFATHER". Created by Michael Tolkan, the miniseries starred Miles Teller and Matthew Goode:

FAVORITE EPISODES OF "THE OFFER" (2022)

1. (1.06) "A Stand Up Guy" - Producer Albert "Al" Ruddy deals with the fallout from the disastrous press conference regarding mobster Joe Columbo's Italian-American Civil Rights League. Paramount Studios' Head of Production, Robert Evans creates a plan to save the studio from a buyout. Ruddy's assistant Bettye McCartt takes action as the first day of filming is compromised by collisions with Gulf and Western, Paramount and the mob.

2. (1.07) "Mr. Producer" - Dissatisfied with the movie's footage, studio executive Barry Lapidus plans a potential coup as Ruddy attempts to save director Francis Ford Coppola and leading man Al Pacino's jobs. Mob leader Carlo Gambino questions Colombo's leadership, while the latter holds another Italian-American Civil Rights League rally.

3. (1.04) "The Right Shade of Yellow" - With Pacino and Marlon Brando considered for the leading roles in "The Godfather", Ruddy is faced with a variety of issues.

4. (1.02) "Warning Shots" - With Coppola and author Mario Puzo penning the script for "The Godfather", Ruddy and McCartt confront an ever-growing list of opposition. Evans and Lapidus lock horns over the creative direction of Paramount Pictures.

5. (1.09) "It's Who We Are" - As production runs into challenges in Sicily, Ruddy leaves early to get Evans back on track. Coppola's vision for the edit is jeopardized by post-production disputes. McCartt thinks about her next move.

THE FRESHMAN- 1990 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Clark (Matthew Broderick) moves to New York City to attend film school. He is ripped off by a local gangster immediately. The gangster takes pity on him and introduces him to mob boss Carmine Sabatini (Marlon Brando) and gets him a job that quickly gets him in trouble with the law...

Its strange, Marlon Brando is essentially playing Vito Corleone just in a different movie. People even reference how he looks exactly like the Godfather. When Brando was needed for an additional week of filming he demanded to be compensated an extra million dollars or he would badmouth the film in the press. He started doing that until he received his payment then started to praise it.

The scenes of Brando and Broderick hitting it off are quite nice. Easy to watch film.

hmmm idk if this is anything, but rosquez as romcom co stars that keep getting cast together even though they hateee each other but the chemistry is too good?

BIG smile always standing on apple boxes to make himself seem taller as he attempts to generate chemistry with whatever actress is his badly written love interest of the day (marc would be SO good in the mission impossible movies im sorry he WOULD be like. can i parachute off of a motorcycle into a ravine please please please youre NOTHING. santi is his extremely stressed stunt coordinator. lmao.) versus vale who came up doing indie movies as a teen in the 90s (his lil face would DOMINATE gay cinephile gifset tumblr) before launching himself to super stardom with a string of successful comedies and sort of settling into that because its easy... secretly frustrated no one will let him bust out his drama chops... BIG chip on his shoulder here a la leaving honda for yamaha etc

so eventually both of them are getting a little tired of being pigeon holed. and decide 2 book a serious ass gay romantic drama. they are tired of being hailed as the kings of fiction for the masses and they want to win at acting!! they get into the chemistry read (marc is still pretty young i think) and its. insane. INSTANT. james dean and marlon brando levels of ARE YOU TWO FUCKING?? but they literally just met. and marc has been a fan of vale's forever but not just the comedies also his earlier dramatic stuff (apocalyptic little gay crush) and they have similar taste in movies and vale is sooooo funny and it is OFF to the races. like. i cannot emphasize this enough they are fucking the WHOLE time. every scene in this movie its just leaping off the screen... they go in to film and its like that BTS clip of the americans where the director was having matthew rhys and keri russell do a sex scene and theyre suspiciously comfortable pretending to 69 and he turns to his assistant and just goes. oh yeah these guys have fucked. they are wayyyy to comfy hitching the other's pussy into their face lmao. just fucking going for it. the director is like hey guys. can you tone it down a little. marc biggggg smile okayyyyyy :3

and the movie comes out and they attend the premiere all smiley and bouncy and feeling really good about the project and then, theyy watch it. and its like. uh oh! not a lot of acting happening there ! um. best performance of either of their careers and they both look at it an can identify all the points they werent acting like evil little signal flares.... and vale shuts marc out HARD yadayadayada the Usual Rosquez Breakup Ensues.... until they both get cast in a revival of the brokeback mountain stage play and shit pops off in the most nuclear explosion of horny heartbreak to ever hit the STAGE…

Jefferson Mappin in 1980s & 1990s.

Jefferson Mappin is a Canadian actor born in Montreal. His film career started in 1978 with a small role in the Canadian/UK crime drama Tomorrow Never Comes starring Oliver Reed and Raymond Burr. I had never heard of him until I saw him in The Freshman a couple of weeks ago. At 6'5" he is always able to find work.

Jefferson Mappin

Most of Mappin's early work was in small roles in Canadian films that as of yet haven't been digitalized. The above stills are from the 1988 Canada/US Sitcom about a professional wrestler, Learning the Ropes, starring football player Lyle Alzado and often real professional wrestlers of the time made guest appearances. Only 13 episodes were produced. The first photo was from the pilot episode and it looks like it was from somebody's old VHS home recording. The next photo is a little better. Jefferson Mappin played a wrestler called Cheetah. It isn't known how many episodes he appeared in.

In 1990 Mappin played a pro wrestler again on an episode of the US/Canada crime drama, T and T, starring Mr. T of course.

Jefferson Mappin played an insane asylum resident in the film Beautiful Dreamers based on true events in 1990.

The Freshman, 1990, starring Marlon Brando and Matthew Broderick would fit in right here but Jefferson was barely visible in his scene, so I left it out any photo.

In 1991, Jefferson Mappin plays a real estate agent in the fantasy/drama White Light.

and Mappin as a dry-cleaning employee in an episode of Tropical Heat (nee Sweating Bullets).

JE hasn’t prove himself with being able to lead a movie yet but where he differ with Glen is his movie (salt burn) and show (Euphoria) make a culture impact. Which I think Glen is trying for as well.

I think I would attribute Euphoria's success to Zendaya honestly. 👀

I know it's a group effort, don't get me wrong, but to me, she's the lead on this, so her role is probably more culturally impactful imo. 🤷🏾‍♀️

To me, (if we're just speaking strictly on resumes), Glen is already lightyears above JE just simply because he's actually been in several major film roles by now, he's lead films, and he got to work with freaking Tom Cruise! Lol 😂

I can't really see what Glen would be wanting from JE's career rn. But JE is also probably not wanting to do the same type of work that Glen is doing anyway. 🤷🏾‍♀️ They might have very different career goals. JE prefers Brando, Dean, etc. He wants to be seen as a serious actor.... as he always so actively reminds us. 😵‍💫

Glen, on the other hand, might not really care for that, and may just want to do "cool guy" roles that are more lighthearted and fun to do. 🤷🏾‍♀️ At least, for right now. He might do an about face and get into more serious stuff, just like Matthew McConaughey did later on in his career. We just never know!

‘The Bikeriders’ Vrooms Into the Awards Race With Austin Butler, Jodie Comer and Tom Hardy Riding Shotgun

Jeff Nichols brings pure Americana to the Telluride Film Festival with his luscious period drama “The Bikeriders,” which feels like the distant older cousin of “The Outsiders.” It stands as his single best directorial outing, and in tow are a trio of invigorating performances from Austin Butler, Jodie Comer and Tom Hardy, all putting their stamp on an awards season that will be undoubtedly competitive.

Based on the 1968 photo and interview book by Danny Lyon, “The Bikeriders” tells a fictional story inspired by a Midwestern motorcycle club, seen through its members’ lives over a decade.

Nichols, who writes and directs, has carved out a special lane of talented American filmmakers who are able to wrangle honest and moving performances from the likes of Michael Shannon (“Take Shelter”) and Matthew McConaughey (“Mud”). He does it once again with his actors including Butler, Hardy and Comer.

Butler shows he can do far more than just play Elvis Presley. Fresh off last year’s inaugural nom for “Elvis,” his role as Benny, much more internalized than you would expect, will offer another opportunity to invite him to the ceremony.

Hardy has been a dynamite actor with his fair share of critical darlings and blockbusters to his credit. As Johnny, the leader of the motorcycle gang, you see the British actor skirting the line between Marlon Brando in “The Godfather” and Robert DeNiro in “Goodfellas.” Hardy’s first and only nom was for best supporting actor for his villainous turn opposite Leonardo DiCaprio for “The Revenant” (2015). This could put him in contention of a second.

The past few years have shown an industry flirtation with a possible Comer Oscar nomination, following her surprise Emmy win for BBC’s “Killing Eve” in 2017. When Julie Huntsinger, executive director of Telluride spoke with Variety about the festival lineup, she said she didn’t recognize her. “I left the screening and went to IMDb on my phone because I wanted to know who this actress was, and I was shocked it was her.”

She was right. What a delight as she anchors the movie sporting a Midwestern accent and managing to steal focus in almost any scene she inhabits. Much of the discussion will surround where she decides to campaign, either in lead or supporting actress, which will also be the case for Butler and Hardy.

Like many movies with a sprawling cast, expect the film to be a candidate for the SAG Awards cast ensemble category. It features Nichols’ frequent collaborator Shannon, in addition to Mike Faist, Boyd Holbrook, Toby Wallace, Norman Reedus and Emory Cohen.

Though most of Nichols’ six films have garnered critical acclaim, only a single Oscar nom has come for any of his movies: best actress for “Loving” star Ruth Negga. Under the guidance of distributor 20th Century Studios, perhaps it can tack on more.

Artisan categories are beautiful to look at, featuring stunning cinematography by Adam Stone, and crisp editing by Julie Monroe.

Will it be able to ride into the Oscars? As the starting gun of Telluride, I would suggest so.
