Mary Holmes- Sherlock Holmes: An Affair of The Heart by @doriana-gray-games

Happy birthday Sherlock Holmes! Since it’s Holmes’ (generally accepted) birthday, I thought I’d introduce my Sherlock from the fantastic Sherlock Holmes: An Affair of The Heart, an IF that had actually help inspire me to go ahead and start to write my own Sherlock Holmes story that I’ve been planning for years.

Mary originally started as a reference to the Mary Russell books but then I remembered that John’s wife was called Mary (I have no idea how I managed to forget that) and I learned that John was a RO and whilst I’m not a Sherlock/John shipper genuinely, I fell for John’s personality, so Mary Holmes became a bit of a mix of Sherlock Holmes and Mary Morstan. Napping time 👶💤

Little Amanda often had trouble falling asleep...even after being fed, having a new diaper and being sung to all afternoon by Harriet. When she walked into the bedroom, to wake her sleeping husband, trying to ask for help, Amanda's chubby little arms reached out and her fussy little sounds turned into something coherent for the first time.

"Dada!"

Harriet's eyes went wide. Her first words!

And Harriet understood them so clearly. Amanda missed her dad! Of course! She just wanted to be close to him, snuggle up to him and feel his comforting warmth. Harriet lips curled into a smile as she gently kissed the girl's head, before letting her down on the mattress.

Straight away, Amy crawled to Sebastian and curled right on top of his back, her little fist holding tightly onto his shirt. It barely took a minute before her eyes were closed, her breathing slowed and her fussy sounds were turned into the smallest little hums.

Harriet couldn't help but watch this peaceful picture in front of her. She took in the little snores from her husband, the steady and synced breathing of them both and the soft shake of her daughter's curls. They have grown much darker since her birth and with every day passing by, she looked more and more like her father. She was just as curious and smart like Sebastian.

But the way she missed her dad, whenever he left the house or even just the room and immediately wanted to shower him with kisses the moment he was back...that was just like her mother.

They both loved Sebastian endlessly and they always would.

After giving both a soft kiss to their temple, Harriet left the room, chuckling to herself at the thought of telling Sebastian Amy's first words.

Okay, okay...I told myself I would post Harriet's and Sebastian's story more "chronologically" except for my lake drawing, buuuut...I wanted to draw dad!Seb so desperately, I had to do this first!

This is a heavily referenced artwork, because I'm definitely not an artist that can draw a body free hand 🤣 And also this is more in a modern style, because again...I'm not a highly experienced artist, so I stayed very close to the source material 🙈

I hope you still like it and can gush over dad!Seb with me! 💕

this is marie, the kiddos’s mum. she’s still young-ish, but the stress of wrangling all these damn kids has made her go a bit grey early.

she’s very protective of all her kids, but especially her special little guy (leander) cos he gets bullied 😔

i think the kids get their hair colour from her, but some of their other features (nose, eyes, etc) come from their dad. got a drawing of him in the works too tee hee hee

The charioteer, by Mary Renault

It's a queer 1953 novel with everything one needs (hospitalized soldiers, male nurses, pretentious and/or mentally unstable queer friends, poetry books, windy countryside, sailors).

I would make fanart of it if I had free time. Hopefully someday I will.

Anyway, go read the the book, its's 100% worth it.

Okay, here is my review for Chapter 12 of Immortal Desires! You know the drill: spoiler alert!

So the Crimson Beech trio are imprisoned and Lennox is the leader of the vampire hunters and bro:

@aria-ashryver girl you need to come get your credit! Because why is this exact storyline with Gabe's cousin being a hunter and an enemy here?! I was so shocked.

Long story short: Gabe's great-grandfather left the hunter life behind with his family - when Gabe's grandmother was a child. Lennox goes on and on about how Gabe's side of the family were cowards and - and we finally have a flashback of Gabe and his grandmother y'all!

This is one of the reasons why I can't stand these vampires because why are you torturing some random old lady?!?! 😒 I'm not surprised because they enjoy torturing MC - a random high schooler.

We see how Gabe was turned and everything.

So Lennox is being gross and just leaves, being the hypocrite he is and this happens:

Wait a minute - wait, Cas really just agreed that he and MC were Gabe's family?!??! Yes!!!

So us Poly girlies were eating good in this episode because MC finally has a deep conversation about her feelings for them both and honestly this should have happened earlier in this book but better late than never.

So Terri comes in and helps the Trio escape. Terri sis, I was rooting you for the whole way. I never doubted you 😀

And this happened when we were escaping:

And honestly hope that the poly route comes through because look at the material! Look at the material!
