the more i think about the last story quest the more annoyed i get, they literally repeated inazuma

they put the traveller in the centre for no reason with the heroes who were supposed to fight the abyss cheering for us from the sidelines; they fucked up the pacing, the fight wasn't rewarding, it happened to fast and easy, literally us fighting with the power of friendship, so why was it a threat to natlan at all??; they killed a harbinger for no reason again (other than maybe not wanting to bother with power levels since he was the strongest of the fatui but that's bs, they don't care about when they release girls) and without a proper story for them and like without making us spend time with them to you know, at least make the sacrifice tragic, instead it came out of the left field despite being very much expected.

The quest was written so fucking bad this time overall, i felt like something would happen every time there was a calm moment like during the send-off or mavuika and hine's conversation, or the celebration and i think it would be better if something actually happened to put us on edge a bit but the story was very straightforward, boring and relying too much on the things that happened outside the quest like trailers/teasers and character story quests

idk man, i like genshin for world quests, lore and and the world in general but the way it's moving right now sucks, i still can't get over the "fat" overeating cowgirl and the amount of filler waifus we're getting instead of at least some varka crumbs (who carried the hype for natlan along with capitano)

Quick Rant About Disney’s Handling of Planet of The Apes

On the one hand, I want Disney to do more with Planet of The Apes. Stuff like:

- TV series adaptations (like remaking the original TV series that Roddy McDowell was in or making novelizations like Firestorm and Revelations into TV series. I could also see a TV series starring Cornelius as he comes to terms with who he is and who his father was with Maurice, Rocket, Bad Ape, Nova and Lake also returning)

Or! A TV series revolving around Noa and Eagle Clan (like the many misadventures of Noa, Soona, and Anaya!) or Proximus and the coastal apes (which would give us more context and time for Proxy)!

- More merchandise. Because, really, Disney could do so much with the series in that way! I’d gladly spend my money on PoTA gear if it were available at Disneyland! (Coloring books, keychains, books, comics, stuffed animals, dolls, etc).

I’m not saying make a ride or location dedicated to the franchise, just something to say “the apes have arrived!”. Making merch for PoTA could also give the company time to play with the franchise while also giving us fans something to love and want.

We also need more PoTA merch in general. I only know of the NECA figures and Kingdom popcorn bowls and keychain (EBay does have figures and things from the original PoTA movies but it’s all expansive and not quite the same).

- They could also play around with the original series, maybe expand on and play with the setting and characters? It doesn’t have to be just the reboot series they could play with (maybe the Tim Burton remake could be added to Disney’s Halloween themes? 😆).

I don’t really mind if we don’t get much info or plan updates from Disney regarding the franchise. It just irks me that the company bought the franchise yet hasn’t put as much attention or time in it as they did with other franchises they’ve bought (such as Star Wars, Avatar or Marvel).

That being said though!!! I also don’t want Disney to do to PoTA as it did to those other franchises. Here’s what I mean by that:

- Make so many movies and TV series with a plot line that’s so similar you can’t tell one from the other (Like Marvel or Avengers movies-bad guy, fighting, team up, more fighting, dialogue, fighting).

- Similar to the one above but, create so many spin-offs that it becomes overwhelming and new fans don’t know where to start (Such as Star Wars and it’s many sequels, prequels, and everything in between).

- This is more of a side comment but Disney hasn’t exactly been making good or original movies lately (lots if sequels to movies they’ve already made or movies like Wish for example). Seriously, can someone check on the writers? They’re either overworked or Disney keeps interfering and dismissing their ideas and work (which is my best guess).

So yeah. It sucks that we haven’t heard much since Kingdom’s release but I’d rather Disney sit on the franchise for a bit before making anything with PoTA than for them to potentially harm the franchise with bad writing, poor quality, or uninteresting and overused characters (or character types).

The fact that Disney bought Fox and Planet of The Apes (to me anyway) implies that the company has ideas for the PoTA franchise. Ideas for where it can go after Caesar’s time or possibly involving the original movies.

Whether those ideas are good or bad remains to be seen but not doing so much as make merchandise for fans (seriously Disney!! I will buy it but you have to make it and sell it first!!), is kinda disappointing and frustrating.

i do this every few months but this summer i’m gonna delete insta and tiktok with actual intention. social media is so toxic, time consuming and degrading. and tumblr is genuinely the only platform i can be vulnerable on without worry. anywayy, im so excited to see how i will spend my free time now, and how it’ll improve my confidence. the glow up i’ll have in the end will have way much more to do with my personality and character than my appearance, and i can’t wait for that.

have you ever started reading a book like "hey this could be a really cool premise" but get halfway through and you're like. I hate it.

prepare to read a stupid rant of mine if you proceed, i complain rather transparently under the cut

i understand why some people would like it, but i just don't like the innocent x troubled trope when it masquerades as completely healthy and Normal (TM). Maybe i've lost my touch with dark romance but fuck, this isn't even a slightly dark romance book.

on top of that, the "troubled" one has like yk issues with her parents, and she has a father figure (in place of her bio father). Who fucking abuses her. Kinda... like her father. And she basically says "oh well he does it because he cares and he's put time and money into helping me." *proceeds to explain scene where he emotionally manipulates her then gives her a hug and in her thoughts she thinks "i love him" and he basically forces her to say i'm sorry, even tho she legit just stood there.* can you see why i'm kinda done with this??

That was the first thing that pissed me the fuck off. I haven't read the whole book, so i don't know if she comes to her senses or what. But the romance just isn't all that either. The main guy is basically deluding himself into thinking he's in a relationship with this girl even though they "could never be" because of whatever reasons they've made up in their heads (because they "care too much for each other" whatever the fuck that means). And it's so fucking annoying that i'm 150 pages in and neither of these bitches have grown a spine. NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. Literally the only notable thing was the second to last chapter i read. There's no plot, no stakes, it's just "oh she's so sexy and helps me with my panic attacks" and "oh he's so sexy and vulnerable with me and i need to forget about all my problems by having some dick shoved in me.. even if he's explained to me a million times that he doesn't do hookups and feels uncomfortable when he does."

And of course half the book is her looking straight at the camera and going "people judge me when i sleep around but when [other character who sleeps around] does it he gets praised? I call bullshit." Which yeah, fine thing to think, I also think it's fucked that that's the case. But have some fucking subtlety, show it with an interaction instead of her just pouting and stomping her foot and going "but that's unfair!"

can you tell i find her absolutely insufferable.

i liked the book originally; one of the good things about it is that there're a good ~130 pages of build up before the first sex scene. The only problem is that 1) it's a mediocre scene with, frankly, juvenile language and boring description and 2) Literally Nothing Happened In Those 130 Pages. Literally nothing.

like i get that the guy mc has major fucking anxiety and that needs to be explained but c'monnnn. Find a way to waste less of my time pls and thx.

i heard people saying that "the writing is fast-paced," in this book and like??? Where??? Definitely not the three hours i spent reading it.

And even then, the plot is very very flimsy. Just before the first sex scene is when the plot Finally forwards itself, and one of the characters asks the really relevant question of "why?" Said question goes unanswered and the author then attempts to distract you with a sex scene.

i get that these books are meant to be leisure reads that get popular on booktok or whatever but c'mon at least put some lil plot bits in there for those of us who're into those. God. Fucking insufferable.

there's also the long running theme of feminism but as in "girls should be able to do the bad shit guys do and get away with it like they do" rather than, uh, that said bad shit shouldn't be happenin period? (This is not me referring to hooking up, who gives a fuck, but it's said abt multiple things throughout the novel. Idk it pisses me off.)

the whole reason i wrote this was because another smut scene started and quite honestly i got bored as fuck. I'm not one to skip scenes but fuck i don't particularly want to read abt her manipulative ass sucking his cock after basically forcing him into a depressive spiral thank you very much.

(yes yes i've become weak-minded, but i only really like dark romance that goes fucking deep into it not this dabbling-but-too-scared-to-actually-make-it-dark bullshit.)

no, I don’t think there’s much to it, in-universe. and the hood is not always off. he still wears it sometimes after that sacrilege. honestly, after episode 27 he was just spending most of his time in their house. So this is probably why. Do you think there was some other reason for it?

“thank you” to the writers, right? they were so into dehumanizing him throughout the whole show. But when they got closer to the episode with the PlOt tWisT, they had to make him show his face more, make the audience feel sympathy for him. I hate this show. sorry for ranting

i'm struggling to put into words exactly what it is that bothers me about eddie and buck's plot in this episode. i see what people are saying in that this fits with eddie's behavior when he's been at rock bottom, so i guess character assassination isn't the right term. i'm still shocked he put his hands on buck, and for far less provocation and less reason to be irrational than when chim fully punched buck. but, whatever.

my biggest problem is with the structuring. this isn't mad men or sopranos. firefam is allowed to be flawed but they're all supposed to be fundamentally good people that we're meant to root for. if they do something objectively shitty, the episode is supposed to have them make up for it by the end or put their actions in a different light. imo they failed at that tonight.

buck had done absolutely nothing wrong, was in fact doing his best to look out for the others while barely keeping his head above water. he was not shown being annoying or intrusive. just visibly sad (to the point where his voice sounded different. ostark the actor that you are). the only people showing appreciation for his feelings up to this point have been maddie a week before the funeral and tommy when it all went it down, and there's no indication that buck even knows he saw him which makes me want to scream.

eddie and hen seemed to care what was going on with buck, in a mainly casual, jokey way, and hen seemed more concerned about the impact of eddie returning to el paso on buck than his grief over bobby.

anyway the next thing we know eddie is going the fuck off on buck, just ripping him to absolute shreds about his self-centeredness while crying about how no one understands his pain and then lowkey blaming buck for not saving bobby. horrifying. this is us made an entire arc out of kevin saying that to randall, estranging them for like a year before they made peace. not that i expect or want 911 to be this is us. i'm just saying. they took it really fucking far. they did not have to. and eddie's sole accountability was "somebody was being a dick to you" before letting his child and his recovering aunt deal with nurturing buck.

that was not enough to get me back on board, show. not nearly enough.

i think it's extremely fun to pair rook and solas together in any regard, no matter if he previously was being romanced because as clear narrative foils, having an enemies to lovers (and in tandem, bitch4bitch, hater x hater) dynamic feeds into that delicious 'whenever I see you I see myself and I hate that' and 'you are everything I hate about myself' soup.

I once saw a post with a collection of quotes that had this certain vibe, in the 'you and I are the same' (negative) way. if i had a quote to represent them it would be:

(first of all, like c'mon) furthermore it's the cycle. rook is to solas what solas was to elgar'nan, there are several times in the game, especially the end, where they can see each other in each other. even if you dont see it in a shipping lenses (which you dont have to!) this is a juicy story.

moreover, at the end of the game if rook outwits solas by giving him the fake ritual dagger, solas not only recognizes that he was out played by 'wits alone' he also says that he's met his match. this mimics the several stories of fen'harel who uses his wits, wisdom etc to get out of a situation

(example: the story of fen'harel, andruil and anaris, solas goading them both into fighting each other so he could get out paralleling solas making rook fight the gods and in addition a thousand other enemies in order to get himself enough time to get out of the fade prison without rook getting ahead of it)

the betrayal too, i don't have much to say that hasn't been said already about the prison switcheroo, (evokes solas's betrayal of felassan yada yada) other then it's really tasty.
