I was talking to my friend about Ned Stark. They said something along the lines of, if Ned didn’t go digging around stuff he shouldn’t have, he wouldn’t have died. And said him dying was somehow a gimmick from “the writers” and that he was overall useless

Because of who Ned Stark is as a person, because of the fact he has no true friends in the south, he was always meant to die. Ned is a symbol that sets the tone for the rest of the series. It’s our introduction to just how vile things can be, and as much of a tragedy it is, I’ve always loved rereading the first book. Because even in knowing how it will end, there’s so much beauty in Ned Stark. So much of him lives on in Sansa and reading the first book gives me more of that from his side.

it cracks me up that asanoya, one of furudate's most intentional pairs, complete with inverse birthdays and names specifically chosen to be complimentary are so, idk, unfated? compared to most hq pairs. Like, they're a fated pair but they're not mystical* the way most of furudate's intentionally created pairings are. They weren't incurably lonely before meeting each other, they're not a 45 volume romance saga about discovering your soulmate, they can't read each other's minds on court, they don't have that "you're the only person to really understand me" sentiment so common in hq

even as they have their own share of dramatics, there's something about them that feels normal amidst a sea of grand, epic tales of connection and i think that lack of dogged soulmateism plays into why they're very rarely focused on despite the level of deliberateness that furudate shows in making them irremovable from each other's stories

*and to be clear, i eat that dramatic shit up with a spoon, there's a reason that my tastes in ships are so aligned with huge fanon hq ships and it's because of those dramatic thematic threads

More Chase/Kaz headcanons

•Kaz is very much into alternative music, albeit more popular bands like Fall Out Boy and Rise Against. Spike is into it too but leaning more metalcore and screamo.

°It freaks Adam the fuck out when he goes down to the lab and finds Spike jamming out to some Ice Nine Kills while training.

°Although Adam and Kaz do find it funny because in "Communion of the Cursed" one of their lyrics is literally "Get on your knees and prove your worth."

°Speaking of Spike, Chase learns to control him a lot better when they're older so he doesn't come out as much anymore, but that leaves the times Spike does come out into full blown tantrums.

°Chase would never admit it out loud but that part of him does need attention too and really only comes out when Spike doesn't feel like he's getting enough.

°Kaz has learned that the only way to get through to Spike is to talk calmly to him and as he would to Chase. Which he just sees Spike as a part of his boyfriend, no different.

•Adam is big into country music but he's not elitist about it. In fact, he would love the "This ain't Texas" Beyoncé song.

•There isn't an Elite Force for long. Mighty Med eventually gets rebuilt and Kaz realizes he can't save the heroes if he's being one.

°It might stem from insecurity about not being sure he can 100 percent control his powers or that he's just more comfortable doing the background work.

°Either way, it's all a group decision to split the Elite Force, although Skylar with join Bree on missions sometimes.

°Kaz would be lying if he didn't admit he missed being a part of a team, but being part of Mighty Med soon became a team to him and even a family.

•Somehow, I'm not sure how, they are connected to the Henry Danger universe.

•Kaz "proposed" to Chase with a RingPop like all cringe babygays.

•Their actual wedding had A-list superheroes and company owners, much to Chase chagrin who wanted a small wedding.

•But Kaz made it up to him by flying him across the city and to the Bionic Island.

°Which, it was the thought that counts because Chase is terrified of heights.

•So I don't know if this is obvious, buy the Davenport kids aren't robots. They're humans just with bionic abilities. So I'm guessing in the way I'm seeing things their chips are sorta like a prosthetic if that make sense. I don't know. Feel free to correct me.

°If we're going by that sense of logic, then having bionic chips for super speed or what have you would become more common in the future, albeit for rich people.

°It definitely would make Chase insecure that there are more bionic people but also feel more welcomed into the world then standing on the outside. As for Adam and Bree too.

°But these newer bionics have upgraded systems and overall better functioning for them. They don't glitch as often, rarely with this new tech rolling out, and it embrasses all three of them when they glitch in public because of how old their chips are getting.

°Speaking of glitching, although Kaz isn't an engineer, anytime any one of the glitches he will take them back to the mansion to help Davenport and combine engineering with his medical knowledge. And as they get older it only gets worse.

°Once on a mission, all three of them simultaneously glitched and Kaz could hear it on his radio to them. He immediately called an ambulance to Mighty Med. Although Skylar yelled at him for not just flying over there.

•Kaz is CONVINCED Tony Stark once came in for his reactor messing up.

•When they're in their early 20's, Kaz shoots up taller than Chase to around Adam's height but he likes to joke he's secretly Elastic-Man and be any height he wants.

•Kaz refuses to take a side on the DC/Marvel debate although he will talk for HOURS about how the MCU is deteriorating.

•Skylar and Bree have some pretty sick cosplays of Vision and Wanda though while Kaz goes as Captain America and Chase goes as Bucky Barnes.

°Leo goes as Loki and tries to convince Adam to go as Thor but he goes as Groot instead. And of course, Donald goes a millionaire Playboy Tony Stark.

•Kaz is, of course, everyone's personal heater but he can not stand any of the eighty blankets Chase keeps around him to sleep.

°So they made a deal, only, like, two blankets but to keep them on Chase's side, that way Kaz can still be his personal heater.

•Kaz hates summer but he loves the pool... just not what it does to his powers. (Not to mention it takes an hour or two to come back.)

•Once, to piss Kaz off on his birthday, Chase individually wrapped each page of a comic book.

°But it was better than the time he used actual comic book pages as wrapping paper.

•Chase and Adam have autism while Kaz has ADHD.

•All three of the Davenkids can NOT sleep in darkness. Probably because they grew up sleeping in capsule, but neither can Kaz or Skylar. Kaz because obviously his powers are fire ability and it would scare him shitless if he woke up randomly in the middle of the night and couldn't summon a flame. And Skylar because it's just how she grew up on her planet.

°Chase figured out a way he wouldn't need to sleep in his capsule anymore but still sometimes does one for familiarity, two for when he's mad at Kaz.

•Also, all Davenkids have done animal therapy at least once (including Leo) and actually got it integrated into Mighty Med. That's how most of the superheroes ended up with their animal sidekicks.

•As he gets older Kaz accepts he's not going to be on the frontlines as a superhero but begins to get comfortable with that as he becomes more concerned with being a doctor.

•Kaz sometimes gets full on Will Solace from Percy Jackson mode. "Doctor's orders" and literally having to drag Chase away from his projects to go to sleep.

Excerpt from my mess of an Au Mighty Marcus

(Context: Marcus was found in the rubble and taken to Mighty Med. The staff are welcoming and Oliver and Kaz take him under their wings. They are largely unaware of Marcus’s backstory aside from a barebones idea of an evil guy making him. Henry Tidwell (Titanio) the resident tech genius takes on a mentor roll. He knows where Marcus came from because of his circuitry, but doesn’t care. Marcus works in the tech sector of Mighty Med while trying to figure out his place.)

“I’m not meant for this world.” It was such a dramatic statement, but a true one. Marcus didn’t belong in any world, not even the one he’d been created for. He didn’t belong among the ‘normos’ or the supers, he was an outlier.

Henry sighed, looking at him from across the wrought iron table that was slightly off balance. The pizza place wasn’t high end or fancy, a hole in the wall joint that smelled like spice and pasta sauce and played Italian music softly from a record player. It wasn’t the kind of place a man like Henry fit in at with his tailored suit, but at the same time was a place so like him. Marcus was learning that people were deeper than he thought. Henry said it was his ai learning, he was pretty sure he was just finally seeing the real world.

“Have you ever read my comics?” He asked through a bite of greasy cheese pizza. Marcus had, back what he was archiving, but he hadn’t actually processed any information.

“Well, I never fit in either, too smart for my own good and a bit of an asshole. I refused my fathers company to fly planes, and I was damned good. Up until I got myself stranded in the outer atmosphere and realized nobody would be coming to get me.” Henry sighed, looked haggard at the memory. He’d never seen Henry look remorseful for anything, it didn’t seem in his character.

“How did you get out?” Marcus had a theory, he was a genius after all, but humans were surprising creatures.

“I nearly died, but somewhere in that desperation I remembered that I was good for something, and that was building. I made a suit, a modified space suit of scraps and canabalized ship, and I look a leap of faith.”

Marcus leaned in, invested.

“I survived, obviously, but that suit was a peice of junk.” He laughed, even as he unbuttoned his dress shirt to pull back and show his shoulder. There was a seam, jarring an imperfect, just below his shoulder joint. “I had a rough landing.”

“Is that..?” Marcus scanned it, seeing cybernetics under synthetic skin. Henry was like him, if only just.

“Yep! Made it myself, except for the skin, never could figure out skin. So I got home, and nobody had realized I had truly gone missing for that month. I took the company back and tried to cope.” There was a shine in his eye, one of pure mischief. “And then I realized I could make a difference. I rebuilt my suit and became Titanio. With no idea of a superhero world or the fact comics were already being printed, I became a hero. Most supers hated me, a normo wearing a suit and fighting their battles. Some still do.”

Marcus had noticed that, how even some superheroes gave Oliver and Kaz the cold shoulder for being humans in the realm of gods. He thought it was stupid. Humans may be weak and inferior, but Kaz and Oliver, and Henry it seemed, had proven themselves. They were more heroic than his pathetic siblings.

“What did you do about it?” Marcus would have made them suffer to prove his worth, but Henry set down his pizza and fixed him with a stare that felt piercing down to the microchip.

“I proved them wrong, became the best I could. I turned a failing company into a tech giant, saved every penny I had and put it into my company and my suit. I was supposed to just be some human engineer meant to die in space.” Henry winked, returning his focus to his pizza like he hadn’t already packed away several pieces.

Marcus knew what he was implying. He hadn’t been built to last, a pet project instead of a son. His birthright was to die.

“I’m not hero material.” He wasn’t, he really wasn’t. He’d been created for destruction, and he’d always destroy what he touched. This peace had to be temporary. He’d met real heroes, seen them risk everything to save people Marcus didn’t see as worthy of saving. He couldn’t become that.

“Then don’t be. Be something else, you have quite the brain, kid. Save people in your own way. Also drink your water slower, refills cost money.” Always a penny pincher, even in his heartfelt moments. Marcus couldn’t help a laugh, a noice that startled him. Laughter was such a new experience, so far from the maniacal cackling he was used to. It felt nice, warm.

“Can we go to the company after?” His eyes shined at the prospect of poking around in Henry’s lab, a place he was becoming familiar with. It was so much more advanced than his area at Mighty Med! Maybe he could bully Tidwell Tech into donating equipment, god knows they needed it after last weeks budget cuts.

Henry smiled, a genuine fondness that confused Marcus as much as it pleased him. He was wary of anyone trying to fill the void Douglas left, but the new men in his life were weird. Horace with his distant caring and occasional attaboys that reminded him of his dad, but a real excitement for his hobbies that Douglas never had. Henry, so much like his father but also very different, who never tried to be a parental force and considered him an equal, a person.

“Sure kid. I need your help tweaking his gauntlets, they’ve been off since that battle with Soul Slayer last week, I think he knocked something loose.” He’d also fractured Henry’s wrist but the human never seemed to dwell on injury.

It was such a show of weakness, or, what did Oliver call it? Good faith? An offer to work on the man’s prized possession, the thing that made him a hero.

Marcus wouldn’t disappoint him. He still wasn’t a hero, or even a good person, but he wouldn’t betray Henry’s trust unless he was given a reason to. Mighty Med was a Eden, he wouldn’t be the snake that destroyed it.

My mind keeps jumping from one thing to next and then I’m like wait…it’s only been a few hours it should not be ‘wearing off’ like this. I drank coffee and felt sleepy. I almost thought maybe I didn’t take it but I know I did. Hormones ruin everything and periods are a curse
