How do trees communicate? Find out how trees talk to each other!

Can trees communicate with each other? Research has confirmed that trees communicate in the forest, working together to grow, flourish, and avoid threats. They do this through a vast and intricate network of hair-thin fungal filaments called mycorrhiza, just a few inches beneath the soil surface.

By analyzing the DNA in root tips and tracing the movement of molecules underground, scientists have discovered that these fungal threads (mycorrhiza) link nearly every tree. These networks allow trees to communicate by sending chemical, hormonal, and even electrical signals.

Some trees emit electrical signals when cut down, while others may also emit and detect sounds, and some studies have even suggested that roots grow toward the sound of running water. Trees also communicate through the air, using pheromones and other signals to warn each other of danger.

Trees can also detect scents through their leaves, and even taste danger. For example, when elms and pines are attacked by leaf-eating caterpillars, they can detect their saliva and release pheromones that attract parasitic wasps, a natural predator for caterpillars.

In addition to communicating alarm and distress, trees are also able to share life-saving nutrients to keep each other alive. This network is literally a lifeline for young saplings in fully shaded parts of a forest, as bigger trees pump sugar, water, and other lifesaving resources into their roots.

These “Mother Trees” can even increase their flow of sharing in response to distress signals from neighboring trees. Simard’s research has found that Mother Trees act as hubs and even seem to recognize their own kin.

Forests are so much more than just a collection of trees, and connected forests are more healthy, diverse, and resilient against the test of time.

the Forest of the Unwanted v-2022 -  It's a kind of a Place where you really don't want to be lost in... This Piece is Actually a Re-Make of my 2018 original called "the Forest of the Unwanted".. Somewhy it Got my Attention again, and I wanted to Add & Change some Small things about this Piece... But... Overall the Inspiration for this Piece Came from Nirvana's Song Heart-Shaped Box (More from It's Music Video) & Alice in Chains Song "Get Born Again"... & The Darker Tone & Aspect & Story of this Illustration is, that It's a Forest where all the Unwanted Fetuses will end Up.. Just hanging for an eternity in the amniotic sacs connected to the Mother trees.. the Fluid surrounding the trees is what feeds them... The Leo Mask is more of a Guardian of that Forest.. She's the maintenance lady over there, but.. Do Not Cross her, she's not as Sweet as She might look, she Will rip you apart, if You might become a Threat to the Unwanted... No Magic Spell or "Sorry" Won't Save You then...
