Hello love, thank you so much for sending this!!

First up is a story I wrote not too long ago "Mercy Mercy Please (The Monster in Me)" which is a Theo x Liam Teen Wolf fic that is an enemies to hate fuckers to lovers story with 20k words of dirty, nasty, kinky dub-con hate fucking lol I love this one so much because I haven't written this dynamic before and these two are just PERFECT for it.

Next up is "Prussian Blue" which is a Clark x Bruce superbat story in which Bruce gets irradiated to lethal levels and Clark frantically tries to find a way to stop him from dying, while also being forced to confront the depths of his feelings for Bruce. I love this one because it's angsty (big surprise LOL), but also because of the relationships I built between Clark and Alfred, and Clark and Bruce--I think they're well characterized and engaging. Plus I did a SHIT TON of research into the acute effects of radiation sickness and the treatments for it, which is where the title comes from--Prussian Blue is a pretty standard treatment for radiation poisoning!

My next one I'll talk about is hands down my favorite thing I've written in the last few years because it's so unbearably tender. "Ribs Cracked Open, A Home Made Within" is a Geralt x Jaskier story that came about because I had this idea that with his extra mutagens, Geralt would probably be hypersensitive to the point of pain, and wondered what that would look like within canon. I also really wanted Geralt to be handled with care and affection and tenderness because we never really see that in canon, and when someone is so hurt by the world and so self loathing, I desperately crave stories where they get to be treated tenderly.

Next is "Handful of Aces, Pocketful of Nines" which is a Holden x Bill Mindhunter story that came about after a rewatch while I was high and had my brain go galaxy mode and see them as a ship 😂This story follows canon and is filled to the brim with yearning, internalized homophobia, and so much angst it'll break your heart! I love this one because it's got so many tropes that I adore, and I think is a very compelling story of two people who don't know how to love each other, but also don't know how not to love each other.

Finally, is "Unbroken" which I consider to be my Steve x Tony magnum opus lol This story is my baby--I spent two years writing it, during which time I was in grad school, working full time, doing an internship and trying to get homework done. It's angsty and full of pining, hurt/comfort, whump, and all the other tasty tropes that I adore. It's a complicated story about a complicated relationship--Steve is found in the ice during Tony's childhood and comes to live with the Starks where he serves as a friend and protector for Tony. Tony loves him, and when life intervenes, they're married to protect Tony from being given to Obie--but that doesn't mean things get any easier. I do honestly think that this is the best thing for stony that I ever have and ever will write, and I hope more folks give it a shot despite that underage tag lol

Wedge, Lando, Mara Jade, and Chewbacca for the character bingo!

Wedge:

I know Wedge best from the X-Wing books I've read and a few other Legends books here and there. And I always get SOOOOO excited to see him pop up in the books. Usually leading Rogue Squad. Except when he's leading Wraith Squad.

He is absolutely the reasonable adult in the room and accidentally dad to his Rogue & Wraith squads. But oh, he gets the angst as bad as anyone who gets main character status in the extended Star Wars universe. At least one of his love interests is murdered :( poor dear.

He has to put up with being tangentially associated to Jedi nonsense through multiple characters - most notably Luke Skywalker and Corran Horn - but because he's a good friend and a good person to have your back in a crisis, he never complains. They're his people, he's gonna be there for them.

Lando:

He's a con man turned legit business owner, though it's a different business every time I check in on him in Legends. lol

So he spends some time in Legends dating Mara Jade. This is later retconned into the two of them going under cover with fake dating to do some recon and Mara was probably plotting his murder the entire time. Though she only wore his clothes (better than him) and probably stole a few of the man's true love interests (his cloaks). But Lando definitely sees himself as the suave playboy, which I enjoy about him so much. (Leia/Han/Lando please???)

Lando is often the adult in the room. He has no idea how this happened and is in perpetual fake it 'til you make it mode when it happens. I love this about him and I'm always excited to see him get put in a situation. Especially when Han and/or Leia are involved. And if he gets whumped... ;)

He introduced Luke to hot chocolate, canonically (Legends), and I adore that because he looked at this Jedi of growing legendariness and accurately diagnosed him with 'perpetually a farmboy at heart'.

Mara Jade:

Ah, my favorite Emperor's Hand, given the final mandate of killing Luke Skywalker upon the Emperor's death. Quite likely my favorite of Timothy's Zahn's Star Wars OCs, (though Karrde and Thrawn are close seconds) and she is absolutely a bit feral. Cryptid energy absolutely.

I adore that she spends so much of the Thrawn Trilogy (Legends) being driven by the Emperor's final command to kill Luke while also fighting it pretty hard while Luke is just, like... batting his eyes and going 'is this friendship? This is friendship. Leia, look at my new bestie!!!' (While Leia watches in bemusement before heading off on her own weird adventure. While being a badass pregnant woman the whole time.)

She is a trouble magnet in much the same vein as Luke too. Which is fun. I'd say she's an unapologetically Mary Sue character, which is well done here. She's a nuanced character with flaws, no one seems sure why they like her at first but she grows on them while she's actively fighting them growing on her too, and she is absolutely the one with the brain cell on Karrde's bridge every time he pulls some crazy stunt.

She's the only love interest Luke has that I don't wind up getting bored with, so it's convenient that she's the one he actually marries... and the way they go about it is they're besties and not romantic at all, but then realize that they're just... happier together and they get married once they're out of danger. Married QPPs anyone???

If not autistic then Mara definitely has some kind of neurodivergence going on, she has that ND putting up with nonsense energy so hard.

Chewbacca:

I love Chewbacca so much. Definitely can do no wrong. Oldest character on the OG main cast, fought alongside Yoda in the clone wars, taken from his home to be enslaved, rescued by this idiot child (Han) whom he becomes a parental/older sibling to because goodness knows Han would get himself killed once a week without Chewie there looking after him.

He's definitely playing up the Wookie stereotypes on occasion for the fun of it, exuding cryptid energy in the process. Is he feral? Is he just playing on stereotypes to win at space-chess? C-3PO & R2 would certainly prefer not to find out the answer.

Does reading a lot of books "count" if they're all only popular light-read novels? As opposed to classics and literary fiction and whatever 600-page in-betweens are called. I can tear through all of Cat Sebastian (who's either hit or very, very miss for me) before I can pick up, like, Sharon Kay Penman, even though they're both popular historical novellists, because SKP's are about real historical figures and wars where a lot of horrible things happen to people. So of course my brain is convinced that SKP's novels "count" more than CS's, because it only counts if you have to struggle through an emotional morrass that makes you feel glad to live in climate collapse because at least nobody is sticking people's heads on spikes anymore.

This is also why I can only stand well back from literary fiction and poke it with a stick like I'm waiting for rats and snakes to jump out because, afaik, most of them are about people being sad and ruminating on the Human Condition. I don't get why I have to read about that, given I'm a sad person who's trapped in the Human Condition.

(I sometimes think the people that write these things are either so removed from the unwashed masses that they can look at them like a science experiment or five inches from offing themselves at all times. Presumably some of them are those mythical Normal People who have somehow emerged from the existential soup without any mental illnesses. Idk. How tf do you write fiction about real human pain that isn't even self-indulgent whump fic? I'm still trying to recover from having read Ninety-One Whiskey four years ago.)

You'd think the solution would be to just read some escapist fantasy, except the serious non-YA adjacent stuff that get submitted for Hugo awards (or Netflix and HBO adapations that shit all over the source material) are also about Bad Things Happening To People. I suppose this is better than white Christian manifest destiny bullshit like Lord of the Rings* where Bad Things Only Happened to Boromir, whose fans are the kind of people who think Gone With The Wind is a literary classic instead of Ku Klux Klan propaganda or people like me who are pathologically obsessed with conservative white bullshit**. And yet have I ever picked up NK Jemisin, who seems to be for all intents and purposes the queen of decolonial high fantasy? Of course not. Better to bear that media where Bad Things Only Happen To Imbibers Of This Racist Bullshit, than fly to others Where Bad Things Happen To The Characters that we know not of***.

It's really fucking hard to be extremely mentally ill and have OCD that won't let you DNF stuff that bores and distresses you and makes you think anything that lets you have safe, happy fun is just easy mode riffraff of no nutritional value.

Whump trauma tips continued

The memory of the trauma is often affected because the frontal lobe shuts down. This is done so more energy will go the muscles which are considered more necessary for survival. The frontal lobe does lots of things but one of the more important things it does is processing memories. The brain can’t effectively process memories because of this. This is why people who have been through trauma often cannot remember the trauma very well or if they can they can only remember it in bits and pieces.

However there’s a chemical released during fight or flight mode that makes memories stronger. The combination of the frontal lobe being shut down and this chemical is that memories are incomplete but very strong.

The frontal lobe also controls decision making so when it shuts down people are unable to make good decisions. This is why people act like such idiots during crises.

Often when the frontal love shuts down people rely on habits and behaviors they know. This is why people might seem fine after trauma. They are just doing the behaviors that they know well such as smiling and saying hi.

People who have been through trauma often had mental disorders from it afterwards like ADHD and anxiety.

Our physical and mental well being are very connected. When we get hurt, a change in our physical well-being, we can become traumatized, a change in our mental well being. It works the other way around too. If someone is traumatized they might have physical symptoms like stomaches, headaches or sometimes even become blind or paralyzed.

Well that’s everything that I learned that might help with writing traumatized characters. If you want to know more about anything, just ask, giving my ADHD brain a reason to rant would make me very happy.

Kukui & Ash Prompts since I’m desperate for content:

• Ash bodily protecting a fainted Pikachu from an attack, and Kukui either watched helplessly or immediately jumps into action. (If unable to get to Ash in time, I imagine Ash hurt and begging Kukui to check on Pikachu instead and Kukui’s losing his mind with worry.)

• A Kahuna or Captain, or really some other character refers to Kukui as Ash’s dad and their reaction varies.

• Team Skull decides to pick on the students, one managing to physically hurt Ash causing Kukui to step in.

• Ash unexpectedly shows up to visit his Alola family after his father stands him up, Kukui and Burnet are quick to welcome him and assure Ash they’re his family and they won’t be leaving him.

• Ash runs into Colress in Alola, doesn’t know how to react and a confused Kukui immediately steps into a protective dad mode when he finds out their history.

• Team Rocket or Team Skull actually manages to kidnap Pikachu, and Ash is a wreck. (Ash either saves Pikachu with his other Pokémon or Kukui steps in to battle because the heartbreak and worry on his sons face he can barely handle.)

• Ash although used to referring to Kukui and such as his Alola family, calls Kukui dad for the first time. (Reactions vary.)

• Kukui finds out about Ash’s jaded past, especially what happened in X/Y hence why Ash came to Alola in the first place.

• What’s going on through Kukui’s mind on the night Ash snuck out after Rockruff, aka panicked dad noticing his child is gone and spends his time searching.

• Ash slowly figures out Kukui’s secret identity.

•Ash gets sucked into an Ultra Worm Hole for a significant amount of time (writer decides) before Kukui is able to get him back.

• Ash takes a tumble off the loft, Kukui and Ash spend the rest of the day in the emergency room since Ash broke something.

• Kukui invites Ash into his routine of meditation and yoga.

• Kukui finds out about Ash and Sophocles being trapped inside the mall, and obviously knows nothing about the full situation but has no way of finding out or contacting Ash to make sure he’s alright.

•After Ash achieves the rank of Pokémon Master, he comes home to his Alola family.

Between Hope and Desperation (first two chapters on AO3 here): Jesper and Wylan are kidnapped, and Kaz, Nina, and Inej have to find them before it’s too late.

Time for a Spare Prayer (first two chapters on AO3 here): Colm Fahey is searching for his lost son when he ends up acting as a Good Samaritan for a young man named Wylan, who’s been shot in the street. He takes him back to a place called “The Crow Club” to be healed, and runs into a familiar face.

Jesper Whump Oneshot (it lives in my little head and in my little google doc, nothings been posted 😂): Jesper ends up narrowly escaping a honeypot mission gone wrong. And, of course, as he’s sleeping off the drug in his and Wylan’s room, a stranger comes to call. The constabulary pointed him in the direction of the Crow Club— he’s looking for his son, Jesper? Cue a lot of very anxious crows.

Engagement Series (there’s a few oneshot stories up here here and here, and there’s like, a billion more in my docs 😂👍): post canon series of loosely linked stories following Jesper and Wylan as they settle into the Geldstraat and start their future together! From fluff to angst and back again!

Well, I did try. It's the characters' fault to be so whumpable (Is that a word? If not, I petition to make it one.) And I can't write fluff, really, since when i do, it just sounds slushy to me if it's not served with hurt, at least to me.

Yup! At least they won't have to worry about bleeding out or getting an infection anymore. And the healer will feel less guilty.

My brain wanted more angst, so it decided leader needed more reminders about caretaker besides healer's very familiar fretting mode and the shield. A torture from one's own hand. And of course they will wonder how everything could turn out, because of course leader would worry less if the only figure they trusted with their loved ones' lives was alive and defending them. And maybe they'd be happy, like before, which is nothing but a distant dream in the moment.

i hear you're on the lookout for living weapon prompts so here's what I've got stuck in my brain right now:

when they mess up during training, their newest trainer gently traces their cheek with a far-too-soft caress, leading the weapon to believe they're a good handler. that is, until they whisper, "you know better than this", & swiftly knocks them to the floor with a well-placed right hook to the jaw. "get up. and don't you dare disgrace me with that lazy block, ever again."

(and later, when the caretaker tries to caress their face, all the whumpee does is go silent, cold, and into training mode.)

🍒What genres/tropes do you find yourself using most often?

My favorite genre is quickly becoming horror, definitely, and I'm kind of obsessed with body horror, which honestly makes a lot of sense considering the fact that the other main genre is still whump. The other one I write a lot is angst... wrote a truly painful main character death drabble last night (again) and I'm discovering that I have two modes: hurt/comfort, or just plan, crushing hurt. Lately, I've been delving into fantasy!

I'm not sure if there's a specific trope I write, but I do have a bad tendency to open fics and chapters with characters waking up 😭 it's just so easy. And addictive.

🍩What advice would you give to aspiring fic writers?

Be self-indulgent! I've been thinking a lot about 'making every scene your favorite scene' lately, a piece of advice that I got from somewhere on the internet and has lodged itself in my brain, and I do genuinely think that's the best advice for writing fanfiction in general. If the transition paragraphs aren't working, throw in that little self-indulgent bit you cut out because you thought it was too silly and really make it into something you have fun reading and writing. Enjoy yourself! :)

1: Do you prefer writing one-shots or multi-chaptered fics?

I prefer multi-chaptered fics! Just cause I feel like the extra length gives me more opportunities and time to craft a proper narrative! Though sometimes I do write a single piece that's wayyy too long to be a one-shot but not multi chaptered. Really for me it all comes down to length and just feeling like I'm not rushing to craft a complicated emotional piece :]

Though sometimes I do have a sweet and short scene in my brain that ends up being a one-shot! That's how the Sheik and Time started actually lmao. It really all comes down to my mood, but 85% of the time I prefer multi-chaptered stuff :]

2: Do you plan each chapter ahead or write as you go?

Honestly? I switch between two modes! I actually have an entirely separate doc where if I have a plot idea, I'll write down a short few sentences about the idea that touch on the main story beats. I don't get really meticulous about planning out scenes as I feel for me, personally, it just makes it harder for me creatively cause I feel like I'm just following bullet points. So what I like to do is write down random lines, emotional points, or scenes, and then I spend some time imagining HOW those scenes happen!

I don't really like my writing to be super strict, so because of that I mostly write on the fly with little planned ideas that moreso give me direction. Also for me its fun to write on the fly cause sometimes I'll just randomly come up with ideas that I really like!! Just being in the writing mood does something to my brain lmao

3: Describe the creative process of writing a chapter/fic

I'm gonna be deadass fucking honest, most of my ideas start as me getting an idea in my brain and I proceed to run in circles for hours and thinking about it. Once the main inspo happens, I either go write into writing OR I watch/read something that has similar vibes to what I'm wanting to write! I also like listening to alot of music during the creative process that really helps me in getting into the particular vibe. It's mostly video game music tbh, rip my spotify SJSJSJ

But once I get the main inspo of the scene everything goes pretty quick afterwards! Also sometimes I'll read whump or just painful fics just so I know how to properly torture the poor twinks SJSJSJ

14: how do you write emotional scenes? Do you ever feel what the characters feel? Do you draw from personal experiences?

Oh I looovvveeeeee emotional scenes, they're so so good I fucking LOVE EMOTIONAL SCENES!! Okay so emotional scenes are great because they're the cultivation of all of the characters being at their absolute limits and you can do anything really!! I like to write emotional scenes as the characters being driven to the edge out of circumstance, desperation, fear, or really anything you can imagine really. Personally, for me this is where the character exposes their true motivations or thoughts that may be hidden for any number of reasons.

THIS is where you can absolutely go full fucking speed on the angst or whatever BECAUSE emotions are so high that you can just make them say or do anythhiinngggg- ITS GREAT!! But, I like writing emotional scenes as keeping in mind what it is that characters are scared or sad about, and how that scene either exposes or makes those emotions all the more worst. Just as an example, what is a character most scared of? How do they react to being forced to face it? Do they tell anybody what they're scared of? Do others shame or understand them, and how do they further react to this? Do they rise above their fear or is their fear able to overwhelm them?

Just asking questions and hypotheticals can work wonders for emotional scenes, it also helps that emotional scenes are likely also climax scenes! Make shit worse for them! Pull a confession from inbetween their teeth! Literally go wild go insane, ruin their DAY!

Uhhhhhhh sometimes I take for inspo for emotional scenes? I personally haven't been tortured so I'm kinda running off imagination here- but I also like taking inspo from my own experiences when it comes to emotional whump :] <- this is not a call for help im gen doing much much better LMAOOOOO

16: How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them?

On my knees crying and sobbing- I gen have so many fic ideas thanks to hyrules curse ITS AN ISSUE!! I have so many ideas that I was scared of forgetting that I had to make a whole separate google doc JUST FOR fic ideas to write later on sjsjdj and I'll share two ideas actually!! Just for you <33

One I have in mind is a big scene where Mineru's spirit appears, but it's very clear that even after being able to rest for thousands of years- she's exhausted, in ruins, barely even able to keep her form. She's also surprised to be met by Sheik and Lyre, because she was expecting to meet Wild. This leads to Mineru being even more devastated to learn that there's another force equal to Ganondorf threatening their world, and she can seemingly do nothing about it.

The second one is a big meeting scene!! Basically Lana and Purah team up to get everyone and everything in order in Lookout Landing. Here they explain the main issue to the group(aka the sages, Groose, hw impa and zelda, tp zelda, etc) that they all face: their heroes have been stolen away and Cia risks all of their worlds, as well as Ganondorf being awoken once again.

16. What’s an AU you would love to read (or have read and loved)?

I love a good lil canon divergence - for want of a nail type shit. When I first got into wrestling I was like hmm it would be fun to do Tyler Black in Japan, or maybe Mox washed out of FCW and ended up in NOAH then NJPW. I absolutely don't have the expertise to write it but I think you could have a lot of fun with baby Mox in the dorms out there, or Tyler and Ibushi connecting in some way. (I think Tyler and Ibushi would be SO interesting and Kenny would be SO mad about it!!!)

Similarly, Kenny stuck in FCW would be really fun to fuck around with, though maybe a little more shoot-style than I'd necessarily want to write myself. So much would have to go wrong/be worse to get him there and that would be really fun to mess around in - especially, like, in terms of Regal and Hunter, both in kayfabe and out of it.

17. What highly specific AU do you want to read or write even though you might be the only person to appreciate it?

Wrestling at the End of the World. I love Hockey at the End of the World - I think it engages so smartly with questions of canonical exploitation, but also functions so well on its own as a story about a revolution that does not draw its own lines at the end of that revolution. (The premise, essentially, is that hockey acts as a dystopian bread-and-circuses style entertainment, and players are both swallowed up by the dystopia and mobilize at great personal cost to act against it.)

I think wrestling would work SO well with that premise - that kind of capital-corporate dystopia - while also doing something very different in terms of the type of exploitation. So hockey is very about the subsumption of the individual into the broader whole, but wrestling in kayfabe (but also out of it) is fundamentally about individuals and individual egos (while still creating a collaborative art form! it's sick). Dystopia-wise leaning into RPF probably would make everything fuckin zing (esp w the double-naming - and someone like John Cena, who sold his own name is just ... I can't stop thinking about that, it makes my brain absolutely vibrate in sicko mode, it's so compelling and fucked up) but I think it would still work as like - travelling bands of entertainers who are also representative of ruling class interests crossing a really fraught continent and grappling with their values and positionality as well as like... finding class consciousness and being Whumped Aggressively, lol.

I just have this image in my head of Seth and Mox sending each other communiques across companies. Cody carrying all this coded information. Hunter leading a revolution and then being wholly subsumed within it. The force of AEW as a counter-WWE force that comes with its own contradictions! Maybe it is falling apart! What the hell is CM Punk doing on his own! The presence of free agency as a viable option that is sooo like ... what are the COSTS in a DYSTOPIA. (When will they get a fuckin union, etc.)

So that is the AU of my heart and I would probably give a kidney for it.

23. What’s a trope, AU, or concept you’ve never written, but would like to?

I'm not that big of a writer-by-trope anymore, which I kind of miss. It's a lot of fun to take a hook and play it straight or switch it up depending! But I guess speculation really became its own thing, haha. I'm generally not into tropes for the sake of them, I usually want them based on some aspect of character I find Infinitely Compelling.

That said:

I think a lot about a wrestling fic where Kenny Omega quit wrestling and became a trainer for the Leafs org and lives in an apartment in the village in Toronto, where he is a sober regular at Woody's and has a bartender boyfriend, and is in some ways a lot more settled than he is in Florida, but in other ways has a longing inside of him that is so deep he drives out to Mississauga when WWE come to town. And then out of nowhere one day Tyson Smith wakes up and is in Florida, with a busted up entire body, trying to make phone calls to Japan without being able to pull the trigger, and doesn't know what to do.

Also, the fic where Cobra Kai is a CIA psyop established to fight dirty wars throughout the Cold War, and Johnny Lawrence does not handle learning this with any grace at all.
