US Trans Folks: Avoid Gender Dysphoria Alliance

Hey Y'all, Not to bring you bad news over brunch, but the Transphobes have taken a leaf out of the anti-choice book and opened the gender healthcare equivalent of Crisis Pregnancy Centers. Crisis Pregnancy Centers are clinics that pretend to offer discreet abortion services to lure in pregnant people who are vulnerable, then use coercion to convince said pregnant person to carry the pregnancy to term by making it seem like they will offer pre and post natal care and support--then they drop that person, leaving them pregnant and without resources and past the point where they can access abortion care. Gender Dysphoria Alliance is copying this playbook, acting as if they provide gender affirmative care and then instead pushing biological essentialism--the idea that there are only two definitive sexes and those sexes tell us innate things about gender. They're using this rhetoric to steer folks towards detransitioning. Watch out for this organization and others like it. If you can, warn GSA's, PFLAGs, and other groups that serve trans youth and their families, because I have a creeping feeling this clinics are going to go after frantic parents who are trying to help their kids, but lack exposure and resources to be able to tell what's actually best practices in caring for trans kids and what's transphobic grifting.
