I don't suppose 👀 kiss prompt 14 👀you know who
Oh I do know, don't I?
Kiss prompt 14: A kiss to the stomach
Spicy times ahead! Nothing too explicit, but they are certainly getting it on
Good soldiers follow orders.
That was the first thing Fox learned in his life. Good soldiers follow orders. He was a soldier. He needed to be good. So, he needed to follow orders.
He followed orders. He followed every single one of them. He was a good soldier. Good soldiers followed orders.
For the longest time, Fox thought that this was all that he needed. That when he did what he was told, and he got higher marks and recognition for it, he was happy.
He needed to be happy about it. It was all that he had. He was a soldier. Good soldiers followed orders.
He could ignore the pressure pushing him down for so long. He could ignore the way his heart leaped every time one of the long-necks looked at him for too long, because he craved the attention and the recognition. He could ignore how his body felt cold every time someone from his training group was called in at the end of the day, because he could tell himself that it meant he had done well enough, that he was better. He could ignore the way his dreams would warp, playing out the events of the day in increasingly impossible ways, the world inside his mind repeating every mistake he had made and trying to make him see what would happen if he was ever caught.
He could ignore it, because he had to. If he didn’t, it would all catch up to him, and that would mean his end.
So Fox ignored it. He was a soldier. He followed orders.
He was good.
It got difficult to ignore once he got on Coruscant. Somehow, he felt even more like he was constantly standing on some invisible line, balancing on his feet, trying to guess when he was stepping over it too much.
Fox tried his best. He tried so hard to be good, but the word soured with every single time it left the mouth of the Chancellor or any of the other officers, who didn’t even try to look him in the eyes when they spoke to him.
Fox wanted to be good. He wanted to be good so much it hurt.
He did feel good when he was with Bail. He did feel good every time he talked with Breha.
They became his new lifeline, the thing he grabbed onto when the line he was walking onto became too thin and threatened to send him falling off of it.
You are good, they kept telling him. You are good, just because you are, not for your ability to follow orders. You are good, because you are a good person.
It felt good to hear them say it. So much better than any other way he had ever been called good before.
Fox was sure it was because of that, that he could let go of his need for constant validation, that he could stop feeling like it was the only thing keeping him alive.
He didn’t need to follow orders to be good. He didn’t need to follow orders to feel good. Fox was good and he was happy, just as he was.
In the light of all that, it had caught Fox very much off guard when Bail had for the first time called him a good boy in bed, and Fox’s immediate and involuntary reaction had been to keen.
It had caught Bail off guard as well, who had, apparently, said it off-handedly as a bit of a jest, and had definitely not been paying too much attention to what he had been saying. After he had said it, though? Oh, he had very much been paying attention after.
There had been a look in his eyes, sharp and almost dangerous, but even amidst Fox’s own confusing emotions, the thing Fox had most felt when looking back at Bail and seeing that look had been anticipation.
There was one important difference, when it came to following orders from the Kaminoans, the trainers, or the Chancellor, and when it came to following orders from Bail and Breha, and that difference was choice.
Before, Fox had had to follow orders, just to survive. He had had no other choice.
Now, though? He could choose whatever he wanted, ask for whatever he wanted. Ask for the orders. Ask for them to stop.
The knowledge that it was him who was actually in charge of the orders only made it better for them all. Bail and Breha knew that Fox enjoyed it, and so enjoyed giving them to him, and in turn, Fox could see them enjoy making him feel good.
It was a sweet, intoxicating circle that had no clear beginning or end.
Just as sweet and intoxicating as the way one of Breha’s hands was running through Fox’s hair, while the other was drawing slow figures across Fox’s chest as he lay his head on her lap, and how Bail’s hands were trailing down on Fox’s sides before finally grabbing onto Fox’s hips.
“Look at me”, Breha said. Her voice was just as sweet as her touch, but the order still carried through it. She smiled at him when Fox lifted his eyes to her. “Good. Keep looking at me and stay still, alright? Let Bail do the work for you.”
Fox nodded. She hummed, a happy and pleased sound that definitely went straight into Fox’s bloodstream. Her hand trailed up from Fox’s chest in a meandering line first up to his collarbones, and then up the side of his neck and under his chin. Every single touch was as light as a feather, but Fox still felt them like she had been carving into his skin.
The bed dipped a little when Bail moved, partially leaning over Fox. He pressed his forehead against Fox’s chest, right over his heart, like some deeply intimate form of a keldabe, before he lifted his head back up and trailed back downwards, his lips not quite touching Fox’s skin, but close enough that Fox could swear that he still felt them.
His grip on Fox’s hips was firm and steady, but not restraining. He counted on Fox to be good and to follow orders.
He was still moving down, his lips still hovering just above Fox’s skin. It was honestly making Fox want to writhe even more than if he was touching him. He really just wanted to move, just a little bit, to force the contact. He would only need to move a little bit, just a little bit…
Fox drew in a deep breath, and focused back onto Breha. She noticed him looking at her with more attention, and she ran her fingers through his hair again, all the way to the back of his head, and lightly scratched the skin at the nape of his neck.
“Look at you”, she cooed, so softly that she was almost whispering it. “Youre being so good. Not moving at all, just like we asked you to. You’re being so good.”
Oh, that was definitely going straight inside Fox’s veins like an injection. Breha giggled lightly when Fox’s breath hitched.
Fox could hear Bail laugh as well, low and soft.
“It also looks like he liked hearing that”, Bail said, something thick and sweet and burning laced in voice. “Did you like it, Fox?”
Fox looked at Breha.
“You can tell him”, she said.
Fox swallowed.
“Yes”, he answered, and had to swallow again, because his mouth was somehow too wet while his throat was too dry. “Yes, I did.”
“That’s good to hear”, Bail murmured, and then, finally, pressed his lips on Fox, right above his navel. His mouth was warm, and Fox was sure that he was leaving some sort of mark on him, as he dragged his lips down on Fox’s skin, pressing another kiss onto the left side of Fox’s abdomen, before he went back up and around to the other side. Fox gasped when he nipped at the skin there, before pressing another, soothing kiss right on top of the bite.
Fox’s eyes had slid down to look at Bail before he had even noticed. In fact, Fox didn’t notice before he saw Bail looking back at him with his deeply dark eyes. Fox blinked as Bail glanced up at Breha, and then again when her hand at the back of his neck slid up a bit, and grabbed at Fox’s hair just a little tighter.
“Eyes on me”, she said, the sweetness in her voice now dripping down onto Fox like a blistering syrup.
Fox turned back to look at her.
“Yes, Your Majesty”, he said, as Bail’s kisses continued to move slowly and sweetly down on Fox’s skin.

while aaravi remains firmly within "yeah miranda has a difficult personality and isn't very easy to get along with + has many rough edges which are slowly being worked on but still going to be an issue" after having been very much so within the camp that miranda is a Vexing Bitch upon first contact/getting to know her, she DOES go from "miranda is unpredictable and dangerous as a merfolk and large macropredator and her emotions are inscrutable and random" to "merfolk aren't very hard to understand or predict and it's very easy to stay on the safe side if you keep basic rules in mind and don't freak out the second something unexpected happens"
#all the care guide says is 'biomass'#miravi.txt#just. thinking about it!#thinking about specifically how merfolk (like most other animals) growl/hiss specifically as a deterrent#like if you start really upsetting miri and she wants space and you to Please Stop#she will probably turn her face away from the other person or turn her body away from them#while growling or hissing and pulling her fins back#and will open her mouth to bare her teeth or gape her mouth open to show her teeth (including heavily panting)#where the point is ''i will hurt you if you touch me/get closer/dont stop so please dont do that''#but a lot of people read it as her being either obtuse (if she turns away from them)#or outright aggressive for the showing of teeth and growling#when shes really not. shes being very polite in merfolk terms in giving multiple chances to avoid violence#shes going ''i am worried i might have to hurt you so please reconsider'' in a way thats very readable if youre another merfolk#who will then step away or give her her space and switch the tone of the conversation#to see whats wrong#whereas her being more deliberately aggressive/violent usually comes with minimal vocal cues at all#or (if shes specifically threatening someone such as in the case of getting aggressive over perceived threats to her social bonds)#she will often turn towards them and open her mouth and flare her fins#often deliberately closing the distance and making herself appear Extra Large#she WILL growl here but will never hiss (hissing being a more defensive sound)#and will often smack her tail against the ground or show her claws or otherwise demonstrate how large and how scary she is#as a deliberate point of ''you crossed a line and this is what is going to happen to you if you dont make it up right now''#which! both require VERY different responses but might look similar to a human!#and might end up coming off as unpredictable or random in her actions and cruelty!#when shes not! shes just doing things the way a merfolk does them#which means aaravi realizes VERY quickly after learning about all of this#just how many cues miranda gives that people are starting to make her uncomfortable and feel Not Okay#that are ignored or written off because theyre merfolk cues#merfolk are very tolerant of stress but have basically no concept of escalation of violence for that reason#because if youve ignored every chance to prevent something dangerous up until the point it goes too far

"...Walsingham, the monastic author of the St. Albans Chronicle, was by far [Alice Perrers'] harshest contemporary critic, who in his venom has (somewhat ironically) left us with the longest and most detailed account of her background and personality, her influence as Edward’s mistress, and her subsequent trial. He describes Alice as a shameless lowborn meretrix (a word variously translated as mistress, whore, or harlot), who “brought almost universal dishonour upon the king’s reputation […] and defiled virtually the whole kingdom of England with her disgraceful insolence.” Although Walsingham was not always accurate and, specifically in this case, clearly heavily biased against Alice, he nevertheless provides a truly contemporary account, and his importance as a source should not be underestimated. Likewise, the anonymous monk of St. Mary’s York recorded that in the Good Parliament the Commons (represented by their speaker, Sir Peter de la Mare) stated that it “would be of great gain to the kingdom to remove the said dame [Alice] from the presence of the king both as a matter of conscious and of the ill prosecution of the war.” During the same assembly, the bishop of Rochester, Thomas Brinton, preached from St. Paul’s Cross that “it is not fitting nor safe for all the keys of the kingdom to hang from the belt of one wife.” Although the word wife (uxoris) is used, it is widely accepted that this is a reference to Alice.”
-Laura Tompkins, '"Edward III's Gold-Digging Mistress": Alice Perrers, Gender, and Financial Power at the English Royal Court, 1360-1377", "Women and Economic Power in Premodern Courts" (edited by Cathleen Sarti). Italics by me.
#alice perrers#historicwomendaily#my post#edward iii#@ anon who asked me how much faith should we put in Walsingham's account of Alice#Walsingham is undoubtedly vicious and prejudiced (and thus not always accurate - perhaps deliberately so) where Alice is concerned#But he is also a direct contemporary eyewitness and is thus invaluable as a source. His importance can never be emphasized enough.#More importantly however - the image of Alice as a transgressive woman with improper influence who 'hijacked' the kingdom#is not merely painted by Walsingham or limited to his account#It's how these other sources - the monk at St. Mary's and the Bishop of Rochester - depicted her as well#('it is not fitting nor safe for all the keys of the kingdom to hang from the belt of one wife' is pretty telling in more ways than one)#as did contemporary literature of the time like Chaucer's 'Wife of Bath' and William Langland's Lady Meed in 'Piers Plowman'#the whole point of the Good Parliament & the Parliament after Edward III's death was to simultaneously restrict her influence & punish her#So...I'd say Walsingham's image of Alice (unfortunately) tracks with how she was widely perceived at the time#Of course that doesn't mean that this image shouldn't be reassessed and recontextualized#Misogyny and classism very demonstrably played a huge role in how Alice was regarded by contemporaries#Ormrod has also pointed out that no matter the extent of Alice's influence she would ultimately always be limited by the practical#reality of being a woman and a commoner#'Her sex and status simply did not allow her the regular and acknowledged access to power enjoyed by politically ambitious male favourites'#It is not impossible that she was 'a symbol rather than a cause' of the crisis in Edward III's late reign#And of course it's true that WERE people who defended her publicly and privately even after Edward's death as Walsingham himself admits#She can't have been as universally detested as most people think#(we should also consider Walsingham's deriding comment about her 'seductiveness' ie: she was probably very witty and charismatic)#But ofc none of this change the fact that Walsingham's image of Alice's 'impropriety' transgressiveness was a widespread one#Nor does it change the fact that this image was fundamentally rooted in the very real and impressive power she had#Alice WAS proactive and acquisitive and wildly influential (Edward III listened to her over several of his own children ffs)#She DID have more power and visibility than any other royal mistress in medieval England#She DOES seem to have acted in ways that would have been perceived as 'inverting queenship'#*That's okay*. Alice's actions & image should absolutely be recontextualized and given more sympathy than they are#but I have absolutely no intention of diminishing or downplaying them either. That's why I love her so much.

one of my major problems with my job is that I get sososo tired of trying to figure out how to interact with people in a way that is honest, productive, but also doesn't bruise anyone's egos, and I can feel myself getting worse at it as time goes on and it's genuinely what drains me and stresses me out the most by far
#thoughts#personal#I am sooooo wary of being banished back into the Bitch Corner#part of me feels like it's inevitable (and probably some neuroatypical behavior honestly)#that the longer the collaboration goes on and the more I feel defeated in advance at the notion that these people will end up hating me#but trying to pull out before this actually happens will lead to people not understanding why I'm backing away#and also hurt my reputation in a way#tired tired tired#not to go all sjw on tumblr dot com (the audacity!!) but#wonder how less of a problem that would be for me if not woman-adjacent in games#I mean don't get me wrong I would be a Horrible Person if I had received amab socialization I have zero doubts about that#but#yeah like a lot of the time the reason why I get shoved into the Bitch Corner is because I reacted to bullshit I did not start#but the way I react becomes more important than what I was reacting to (I have Very Bad examples of that in mind)#I've been called a living shotgun recently in a way that wasn't entirely derogatory and even a little appreciative?#and the thing is that do sound like me (oh no) and I would appreciate and own that descriptor I think#if the notion of being perceived as harsh and bossy didn't fill me with absolute dread as to how I'll eventually be treated#how people will eventually feel like it's okay to treat me because surely I must have deserved it at least a little#so#idk don't love that being a constant in my career so far!!!!#sorry I'm just being very Panic Attack Trigger Happy since a couple of days#doesn't bode well for the year to come

i've def heard of people having to be in the right headspace to write like, v thirsty/self-indulgent snz content, but somehow i find it equally difficult to be in the right headspace to write angst
#snz thirst is more predictable bc it's just#letting my d pilot the plane instead of my head and blinking down to see that i've written 2 thousand words#angst is not like a snz-specific device so you'd think it'd be easier to utilize#but specifically in the context of h/c it feels like#close to the same level of self-indulgent for me... only i feel so much more self-conscious when i'm writing it. i think it's also because#i feel like people more easily excuse gratuitous snz as like 'omg the author really went for it 🥵 this is hot' whereas for angst the#equivalent of 'overdoing it' or being too indulgent is like... okay this is ooc. these characters are not arguing in a way that feels#believable. it feels like they are being flattened or misconstrued just for the sake of the angst 🙁#what i'm trying to say is#being perceived as overindulgent in the angst sense scares me so much more than being perceived as overindulgent in the snz sense#when i get really into writing angst i'm like >:) omg i live for dramatic tension and misunderstandings. please argue MORE#but when i get to editing it i'm like 😰😰 what was i thinking. would they really say that... would they really cry here...#which feels terrifying in a different way - the not-knowing if what i've been writing will be received as i intend it or if it'll be seen#as too emotionally trite / unbelievable#does that make sense... i am operating on 4h of sleep right now which is probably#why this post exists haha. but anyways
