Note
Hi there, is there a link to your about page that people can access via the tumblr mobile app?
you can try my direct About link but I don't know if it's readable on mobile, I'm a strictly desktop user and I've been here since before the site became mobile-centric, so I genuinely don't know what's accessible and what isn't :( my phone can't really run the tumblr app half the time, so it's not something i'm able to check for.
honestly it's nothing that isn't pretty much covered by "i'm here i'm queer get used to it" or looking at the political stuff i do reblog. brief summary being i'm nb, aspec, anti-terf, anti-swerf, anti-cop, and anti-harassment. longer summary: I do my best to be an ally to jewish and muslim folk, but i am very under-educated in that area. same applies to mental illnesses. i was around during The Ace Raids(period of tumblr history where the site went extremely anti-ace for, at the time, no discernable reason. now we know it was general anti-queer getting its hooks in early.) and i watched the birth of the mogai community and the bi v pan debate. as a result my attitude towards identity is "you're the expert, just use whatever label suits you best and i'll believe you about it". i respect older/"outdated" identities and do my best to learn about queer history and incorporate that knowledge into my views. i can get kind of anti-christian at times due to the general trauma of living in the united states and watching "religious belief" become the excuse for massive levels of abuse and control, but i do respect people who use that belief to help people and push positive change. i view Missionary Work(i.e. going to another location and doing charity specifically to spread the word of your religion, like the god damn mormons are constantly doing) as inherently colonization and fundamentally do not understand people who consider it to be a good deed. i am against arranged marriage, but respectful to those who are comfortable in theirs. I support poly marriage(i am poly myself), and i think we need to severely change how disability aid is handled so that disabled people can marry who they want without losing their coverage and don't have to literally count pennies to make sure they're not over an insanely low limit. i can get kind of loud about intersex people's existence and rights. I support landback, but i am under-educated in native issues. I consider neurodivergency a positive thing, but i also acknowledge it as a disability. i consider the political lesbians of the 1960s to have been infiltrates and traitors, as their beliefs were foundational to modern TERF rhetoric. I don't have a DNI(if some asshole decides to follow me they're gonna see exactly what i think about them very quickly, and if they stick around anyways, maybe something i post will shake their beliefs a little), but TERFs, SWERFs, nazis and MAGAs get blocked on sight. harassment will also be blocked and reported. I am a strong believer in online anonymity; i don't think it's wise to share your age, sex, race or location unless it's something you WANT people to be aware of. I also don't think it's a good idea to share your face, but i don't harp on people who do make that choice unless they're underaged(and even then it's gonna be a very light 'hey maybe this is a bad idea'). double points on location, stop telling people where you live. that should NEVER have been normalized.
i'm also into a lot of fandoms, and i don't usually tag unless asked. current tags: NSFC(not safe for crystal, basically any mention of death will be under this), Facepaint, Spiders, Cats, Horrible Things, Important, Signal Boost, For My Wife, Frosty, Crinket, and Awesome Music. if you dig too deep into that last one you'll find some OLD tumblr culture. i also try to tag for content warnings like abuse, flashing lights, and sexual assault.
in short, i think other people should be able to exist how they want to as long as it's not inherently harmful to others, and i love to learn more about the world and spread that knowledge. i'm gonna see if i can make this my pinned post, this is honestly a better summary of what you're gonna see on this blog than my about page is. also, not the most important thing, but I do have memory problems, so i usually use Likes as a way to show myself i've already reblogged/seen something. ff to block if this ain't your rodeo, and welcome aboard if you stay!

Atomic Ask Bomb... 2!!
Hello, all! We are back in the mines immediately, because you all love me and my inbox so much. I still have 200+ more asks to sort through after this and that is not hyperbole!! Oops!!
Content Warning: Long, and Cronus is There.
Tumblr media
You can be both. I am both. I think Terezi's easily in the Top 3 of Best Written Homestuck Characters, no competition. AND she compels me.
Mituna Fans and Terezi Fans flocking together like how Gays and Lesbians are supposed to.
------
Tumblr media
He doesn't have a Recuperacoon. He doesn't NEED a Recuperacoon. Who needs a Recuperacoon when you have a bathtub? You pile a bunch of slime in there, and then you can pop the drain open in the morning and take a shower right there where you just got up. It's convenient. And not at all sad. It's not sad guys.
Let's pretend for a moment that either Vantas would have regular bathing habits for the sake of this joke.
------
Tumblr media
Even if that's the case, it really doesn't change anything. Insecurity doesn't justify literal actual sexual harassment and sexual assault. What?
People will do anything to excuse random shitty men for being shitty. Sympathy is the favorite weapon in Fandom Misogyny's arsenal. So often will fans pull some random bullshit out of their ass just to say that it's fine that a male character is abusive, especially if it's to women, because "He's Sad", so he should never face criticism or punishment for his actions.
We should all start putting people in blenders. We've let these arguments go on long enough. People are far too bold in their abuse apologia. We need to kill them.
------
Tumblr media
Yeah. Like, he interests me a lot, he's one of the characters I take the most interest in out of all of the Alpha Trolls. I literally write sov!Cronus. I hate his guts, though. It really is just that easy to be a fan of a character and also fucking hate them. Not once have I ever made an excuse for him. The goal Hussie set out for when writing him was making him inexcusable and irredeemable, down to Cronus literally knowing what he's doing is bad and hurts people, and simply just not caring.
Cronus is genuinely fucking evil. That's the whole point. If you make him misunderstood, if you make him mean well, if you make him lack self awareness, if you make him sympathetic, if you give him any redeeming qualities at all... You are missing the point completely. If you want a sympathetic asshole character, you want Vriska. The point of Cronus is that he's The Worst Character In Homestuck, and that he has zero redeeming qualities and trying to fix him or redeem him is a Hopeless venture. He is beyond saving. Don't you dare even think about trying - to try to make him palatable is to erase Violent Bigotry, Incest, and Child Sexual Abuse. Just don't. Enjoy him as he is, do NOT defang him.
------
Tumblr media
He truly is the worst! I think we should explode all depictions of fanon!Cronus. Forever.
------
Tumblr media
Yeah, there's a huge reason why I do not say I'm a fan of Cronus or call him a favorite character of mine or anything. It projects a certain... Image. The wrong one. There's just such a strong precedent for anyone saying they're a Cronus Fan or calling him their Favorite Character being a person who just completely fucking ignores everything about him, or even pardons it, saying it's fine, actually, because He's Sad, or that it's Not That Bad, actually. I can't stand it.
I'm aware there are Cronus Fans who are totally normal, but I cannot help but immediately be wary of them, or flinch for a moment even when they offer the reassurance that they know better. It's a natural response, having been here for around a decade and having been a Mituna Fan the whole time.
Liking characters who are terrible people is fine. Based, even, in some cases. But... It's truly difficult with Cronus, because so much of that fanbase relies on excusing/minimizing/condoning abuse and bigotry. I don't have any qualms with people liking characters that suck, but when a fanbase for a character is so heavily focused on pretending that character isn't a horrible, terrible, awful person who abuses people - even children, even people they're related to, even children that they're related to - for nothing but their own sexual gain... I start having issues. That sets a pretty dangerous precedent, to me.
------
Tumblr media
It's crazy to me how so much of the apologism is because he's hot. Because he literally isn't. You all have terrible taste.
Tumblr media
Let's all appreciate for a moment just how fucking ugly he is. The fan art is lying so bad. He needs a haircut. His shirt doesn't fit him, and honestly looks like women's clothes - you know those women's shirts that have the sleeves that stop halfway down the damn shoulder? He looks like a 16 year old. He's so skinny, and his shoulders are so... rounded and small - which are fine traits to have, but literally every piece of fanart portrays him as broad-shouldered and ripped when the literal opposite is true. You just know he has too much product in his hair. His actual sprite is even worse.
Tumblr media
The way his fly doesn't even go all the way up. The way his hair clips into his face. The way he's slightly yellow for literally no reason. The shitty belt. This fucking sucks. He's so ugly. He isn't even hot.
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
Mituna having Memory Loss as a result of his TBI is literally a myth invented by Cronus to emotionally manipulate Mituna and perpetuated by Cronus Fans. I think if they were friends in the past, Cronus's actions would be worse, actually.
Could you imagine getting sad that your friend doesn't remember you because of a Traumatic Brain Injury, and your response to this sadness is to abuse and sexually assault them on the regular? What, is that Just Bro Things now? Cronus literally says he targets Mituna because he thinks he can get away with it due to his struggles with communication. The thing about them being buddies in the past was one of his trademark Lies. Because he is known to do that, specifically to manipulate people. Because he is known to manipulate people. Emotionally. Because he is abusive. And terrible. And not redeemable. This isn't rocket science! It isn't rocket science to say that pushing the fault of Mituna's abuse onto Mituna is Victim-Blaming!

Tumblr media
Positively fucking ridiculous that so many people did not recognize their romance within the comic. If they were boys, there'd be no god damn question about it. It'd be up there in everyone's OTP list alongside DaveKat.
I think they're adorable. They're one of my favorite pairings.
------
Tumblr media
It's great in the source comic, especially during earlier phases of its existence, but the quality deprecates drastically the further you get from that point. I hate it in Fanon and in Dub/Post-Canon.
It's a great off-screen pairing for a lot of lore reasons - namely it being great to let Dave slowly allow himself to love and be loved in private, with no fear of eyes on him. He's never really been able to have privacy before, with all the cameras and eyes on him all the time, and he's never been able to really let his guard down and be vulnerable. He's never been able to love and be loved, safely. I ultimately think they should've kept their relationship mostly private, even after Dave's recovered quite a bit, because sometimes having something just for yourself without that need to perform it is healing in itself. Mental health maintenance.
In Fanon, it seems like pretty standard yaoi, though. Boring. Tired. Literally everywhere. Voyeuristic as always.
------
Tumblr media
Thank you! My Inbox generally really isn't that bad at all, honestly! Most people are pretty cordial! Anon Hate for me is pretty rare. Thankfully, the Delete Ask button exists, so I don't have to worry about those Anons for very long, lol.
------
Tumblr media
I hate to say this, but back in my day, plenty of people actually did do that. In fact, people only knowing Homestuck through fan material and then still calling themselves a fan is a big reason why old Homestuck fanon was so bad and so far off the mark!
I have a name for those kinds of fans, because it was such a frequent occurrence it begged for a title. I call them Secondaries. Like "Secondary Source"!

World's most based triad, I think. Should be real. It's real to me.

I think everyone should start watching actual horror movies. I think these people should watch Re-Animator and Bride of Re-Animator. I think this would fix the fandom, because a lot of people are just posting about horror movies without realizing they're posting about horror movies. Go watch a horror movie. They even have more and, frankly, more interesting gay representation than... Whatever Dirk and Jake have going on. Sorry.
If you're a gay man, get some hair on your chest and watch a bunch of horror movies. There's more in this life than anime twinks and skinny white pixel men. There's BlackRom Old Man Pet Play (The Lighthouse, 2019), there's Tormented Huge Dirty Bear (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, 2006), there's The Bisexual Psychological Torture + Betrayal Chamber (Saw, 2004), there's Dysfunctional Gay Marriage Disputes (Re-Animator, 1985, Bride of Re-Animator, 1990). And way more other ones than I can really list. Expand your horizons.

Tumblr media
Not much. It's a bit mysterious. Here's what Aranea had to say about Mituna in general, which gives us most of the crumbs we have:
The Heir of Doom was once a powerful psionic. He had much to say when it came to warning us a8out the path of doom and destruction we were all headed for, 8ut no one took him very seriously. 8ut one day he lost all those abilities when he 8adly overexerted himself. It's hard to get any specifics from him, 8ut indications are that he applied every last 8it of energy he had toward some great act of heroism, saving us all from some looming threat. Not only did his exertion permanently 8urn out his psychic a8ilities, 8ut it left him somewhat... er. Incoherent. The entire incident is shrouded in mystery. From his limited and scattered accounts of what happened, it seems very likely that Kurloz was with him at the time, as the only eye witness. And of course it's impossi8le to get any relia8le information out of him. I guess we may never know, sadly.
This does say quite a lot, but not really anything specific. We've got some stuff about how he's the session's Cassandra, the fact that the GAoH was NOT an accident (this is the misconception that pisses me off the most, I think - I hate when people call it an accident), the fact that he was protecting everyone from something... The fact that he DOES remember it, the fact that Kurloz was there, as the only eye witness, and refuses to talk about it.
It leaves plenty of room for speculation. A little too much room for me, honestly, but that's fine, I'm not really pressed about it.

breathe in. breathe out. it's just one song. record it all in one go, ignore billy's stupid complaints, and then go home.
well, what used to be home.
“daisy, you ready to go?” she heard teddy ask from the other side of the recording booth. “yeah, i'm fine. let's get this over with.” the redhead said before taking a sip of the glass of cold water she had next to her. she closed her eyes as she felt the liquid make its way through her throat.
breathe in. breathe out. she opened her eyes to find the band and camila next to teddy, all smiling encouragingly at her. daisy was about to smile back when the door to the recording studio opened abruptly. “holy shit, tell me i'm not late.”
oh fuck.
daisy felt like her heart was about to beat out of her chest. why is she here? she was supposed to be in new york, not los angeles.
“y/n! you are kind of late.. hope it was for a good reason.” warren said with a wink “tell me the guy at least fucks good.” the drummer added while wiggling his eyebrows.
the blue-eyed singer wanted to disappear. she tried to distract herself by playing with the hems of her long-sleeved white shirt. huh, funny. daisy thought. she always loved it when i wore this one.
“yeah, warren. he fucked better than you ever will.” y/n answered, not before rolling her eyes at their friend.
they didn't know y/n didn't fuck any guy last night.
they didn't know y/n would never fuck a guy. ever. they didn't know y/n was late because she didn't know if she could face her ex girlfriend after she told her she was leaving for good. they hadn't seen each other for two weeks, and it was fucking torture for both of them. they had grown so used to always waking up next to each other, cooking together, and doing pretty much everything together, and god did it feel weird to not see each other for longer than a day.
daisy felt like she couldn't breathe when y/n left. she always had to remind herself to breathe in and breathe out. it was as if the girl before her took all the oxygen in the world when she walked out of daisy's front door. right. she remembered bitterly as she felt the fabric of the shirt in her hands.
 daisy's front door. daisy's home.
because she refused to move in with her even after three years of secretly seeing each other. she refused to let anyone know about their relationship. not even simone, who is like… them. and daisy understood, she obviously did.
it was dangerous to be one of the world's most famous singers and openly date a woman. openly love a woman. openly say the word lesbian. people would crucify you in the street if they knew you were a homosexual. that was the main reason y/n was scared, she was just a tour photographer who happened to become close with the band and fall in love with daisy on the way. if the world knew she was into women, she would never get another job.
daisy tried to tell her they would be okay, to screw the rest of the world. they loved each other. how could that ever be bad? as far as she knew, love wasn't a bad thing. but maybe she only thought that because she didn't have much experience with it. her parents hated her. men used her. she only has the band, simone, and y/n. had y/n. not anymore.
“daisy!” her name being yelled at her got her out of the trance she was in. “are you going deaf or are you just high as shit?” eddie asked from the microphone.
“she's in recovery, eddie. stop joking about that.” she heard a soft voice she could recognize anywhere snap back at him. “right, sorry.” the bassist said with his hands held up high as a way of showing surrender.
y/n looked at her and they made eye contact for a solid second. daisy gave her a small smile and looked down. “alright, let's get this party started!” warren hollered as daisy put her headphones on to start recording. “okay, the end of love, take one.”
the redhead remembered to breathe as she heard the first notes of the song.
i feel nervous in a way that can't be named.
i dreamt last night of a sign that read, the end of love.
she looked up and saw y/n drumming her fingers against her waist. she obviously knew the song was about her. ever since daisy met the photographer, almost every song she has written has been about her. the singer wrote the end of love the day after y/n walked out of her new york apartment.
it's pitiful, she thinks. even when they're not romantically together anymore, she still writes about her.
and i remember thinking even in my dreaming.
it was a good line for a song.
daisy tried to steady her breathing but when she looked at y/n she felt like she was about to pass out.
 breathe in. breathe out.
breathe in. i can't fucking do this.
the flower-named girl placed her headphones down and said a quick “i need some fresh air.” before storming out of the recording booth. daisy walked through god knows how many rooms, until she found an empty one in the back of the building, she sat on the floor and leaned against the door she had just walked through.
you dumb fucking idiot, she thought. now they're all going to think you´re singing about someone in the room, or even worse, that you've relapsed and can't record a damn song. she can't go through this again.
if the band thinking she was in love with billy dunne, when she's not even into men, was bad enough, them seeing her overreact this way is going to make them figure out she has been seeing someone.
there was a minute of silence while she tried to think of an excuse to say when she gets back into the studio, but it was all interrupted by a soft knock coming from the other side of the wooden door she has been leaning against.
“i'm fine, karen. just give me a second.” the blue-eyed girl said while running a hand through her long red hair.
“i'm not karen, but if you want me to go get her, i can do that.” her heart sank as she heard y/n's voice.
“no!” she heard her own voice answer in a quick desperate way. she grimaced at how pathetic she sounded.
“well, is it okay if i come in?”
one beat. two beats. daisy unlocked the door.
the photographer walked into the room and sat on the opposite side of the singer, facing her. “do you want to talk about it?”
 “talk about what?”
the girl sighed and leaned her face against the palm of her right hand. “about what just happened. you don't normally walk out of a recording session, daisy. not ever. are you okay?” she asked as she looked straight into daisy's big blue eyes.
the singer stared back and bit her lip as she felt her eyes start to water. “i miss you.”
“daisy-”
“no.” she interrupted. “you say you love me but then decide to break up with me.” she says with a scoff. “without even letting me ask you what i did wrong. without even letting me try and fight for you. for us.” a tear streamed down her right cheek.
it took everything in the girl before her to not wipe it, the way she always did.
“listen, i understand being scared. do you think i'm not frightened of how the boys will react if they ever find out we are the way we are? but i didn't care as long as i had you. i know you have your doubts. but why did we have to hide from everyone? simone would never treat us differently. we both know she's a lesbian. just like you and i.” she pointed a finger at herself and the girl who now wouldn't dare to look her in the eye.
“karen wouldn't either, she's too busy minding her own fucking business to be disgusted by us. even camila wouldn't care, she'd be delighted to know i've never felt an ounce of love for her husband” daisy was fully crying now. god, she loved her girlfriend so much. why wasn't that enough for her?
“i left for that exact reason.”
“what?” she asked.
“you deserve someone who isn't afraid to love you. who isn't afraid of who she is.” y/n continued. “you know, billy and graham saw simone kiss her girlfriend at your birthday party” she said with a sarcastic laugh. “and they didn't give a single shit.” daisy was silent as she listened intently to her ex-girlfriend's voice.
“when simone realized they saw her, she told them they'd been together for over five years. and shit, they truly didn't care. even warren said it wasn't fair simone found a girlfriend way before he met lisa.” y/n played with the rings placed around her fingers to avoid eye contact. “the entire band knows about simone, and they think it's normal.”
daisy's heart was racing, she didn't know if it was excitement for simone, because her best friend was able to love her girlfriend without a care. or if it was happiness, because the rest accepting simone could only mean one thing. if the six don't care about simone and her girlfriend, then that means they won't care about her and y/n.
the photographer was silent for a while, so daisy decided to speak first. “i don't really understand. you left me because you're afraid of them knowing about us. but, you also know they wouldn't care if they find out?” the singer´s eyes scanned her ex girlfriend´s face, trying to find an answer.
“yeah… it's stupid.”
“damn right, it fucking is!” daisy sighed. “i love you. you love me. we can at least tell them and simone about our relationship.”
y/n was the one holding back tears now. “i want to. i truly do.”
“then what's stopping you?” her voice softened at the sight of the girl she loves the most crying in front of her.
“I can't openly love you, not when i can't even say… well, you know what.”
“god, y/n. you didn't tell me you were still struggling with that. i could've helped you.”
“i know you would've, but i didn't want to be a burden.” daisy slowly raised her arm and caressed y/n's cheek in the soft, loving way she always does. “you're not a burden. not ever. not to me.” the flower-named girl tucked the girl's hair behind her ear.
“i love you. i love you so fucking much, i can't breathe when i'm without you.” she continued. “you helped me when i was trying to recover from my addiction. you were there when i got out of rehab. you've helped me stay clean.”
“that was all you, daisy.”
“yeah, but you were next to me the entire time. the least i can do is be next to you, while you learn to accept yourself.”  “it took me a while to come to terms with being a lesbian, too.” daisy said as she twirled a piece of y/n's hair around her finger.
“i used to think the only way i could make it into the industry was by not caring about men stealing my music because at least people would hear them. fuck, i forced myself to want them, the same way they wanted me. because that was the closest i thought i'd ever get to being loved.” “but that's not what love is. love is what you and i have.”
y/n placed her hand over daisy's. “i want to be brave, for you.”
“you already are. you just need to be brave for yourself. because you deserve it.”
“thank you, for everything.”  y/n gave her a soft small smile. “you don't have to thank me for anything, seeing you smile is good enough for me.”
the two women locked eyes, and they just stared at each other for a small moment. y/n's hands began to shake with desperation, she craved the feeling of daisy against her. and suddenly, she felt a force pulling her towards the redhead girl, daisy placed her hands on both sides of y/n's waist, and instinctively, as if her body was made to be next to her's, y/n placed her hands behind daisy's neck, the same way she has done for the past few years, their bodies were pieces of a puzzle made to be together.
they both leaned into each other, they were so close, they could feel each other's noses rubbing together, daisy smiled at the sensation. “can i-” daisy started “you don't even have to ask.” the girl interrupted, before smashing her lips into the singer's.
their lips locked, the two women having been in the exact same position hundreds of times, but this was different. this kiss was about understanding, about forgiveness, about acceptance, about moving forward. it lasted a few more moments until they were out of breath and had to pull away.
“i love you, daisy jones.” the girl whispered against daisy's lips. “i love you, y/n l/n.” she answered with glossy, vibrant eyes. before getting back into her usual cocky self.
“well, not to spoil my amazing new song, which is going to be a hit, but there's a specific lyric i think you're going to like.” she said, trying to fight back a smile. y/n rolled her eyes at her girlfriend's antics.
“oh yeah? what is it?” daisy cupped y/n's cheeks and stared lovingly into her lover's eyes. “i've always been in love with you. could you tell it from the moment that i met you?” the redhead sang before kissing her beautiful girlfriend again, and again, and again.
daisy still had to finish recording her song, and they still had to explain what took the photographer so long to find her, but luckily, this time y/n wasn't afraid to tell them the truth.
we were reaching in the dark
that summer in new york
and it was so far to fall
but it didn't hurt at all.

Don't you just hate it when one of the biggest grifters online decides to like a piece of media you like?
Gatekeeping is wrong. Forcing someone to like something in the specific way I interact and consume a piece of media is wrong. Art is meant to be viewed through a multitude of lenses, and each individual will have their own way of interpreting that creation. And that's good. That's fine. That's human.
But when an Anti-Woke Grifter who thinks alcoholism is a really cool personality trait and decides to brand everything about themselves as that; who has historically engaged and criticized films and shows and games and books in bad faith; who has put down women and POC's and Queer representation in media; who is one of the biggest dicks in the online space decides to actually pay attention to an art that is pretty much dipped, coated, laminated, and injected with fucking GAY, ANTI-PATRIARCHAL ENERGY—that's when I get mad.
For those not in the know, Critical Drinker has posted a review for Blue Eye Samurai, saying he likes it.
You know... Blue Eye Samurai?
The show that oozes Queer Wrath? Feminine Rage? Curb-Stomping Toxic Masculinity and the Patriarchy whenever and wherever it can? That Blue Eye Samurai?
See, he's done this before with Arcane.
He says he likes it. Him and his ilk say that, "Finally, the wokies have done something actually good!" and point to Vi and Jinx as strong female characters written well!
But they also say, dang, feels like all the men in that show are idiots and that they had to be dumbed down to make room for the rainbow-haired girlies brigade. Who have all remarked that Vi and Caitlyn's relationship is forced and being shoved down our throats because god forbid women like women!
I got sick of watching his Arcane review halfway, and this was before I knew what a douche Critical Sucker was.
So I ain't watching his Blue Eye Samurai review. Why?
His Glass Onion review was done in bad faith.
I didn't like She-Hulk, but that's because that show was a byproduct of abused VFX animators, creatively bankrupt executives, and writers desperately trying to manage a convoluted shared universe that continues to buckle under its own weight. Political Stinker over here thinks that it's pandering, stupid, feminist garbage. He is one of the biggest Anti-Feminist voices in Youtube.
Him and his incel brigade have an obsession over hating Captain Marvel and Brie Larson. These basement dwelling cucks rant and rave over a mediocre duology and an actress that just lives in their tiny heads rent-free.
He says that they are removing men from leading roles and roles of great importance!
So why would I want to listen to an inebriated libertarian's opinions on a show that has become the show for lesbians, trans mascs, and other lovely brands of gay and feminism that he oh so despises? He'll most likely praise the action and violence and shit like that, then probably say that Mizu and Taigen's homoerotic rivalry isn't gay actually. Or that Mizu and Akemi's narrative foils don't scream enemies-to-sapphics. Or that Mizu, WHO'S NAME MEANS WATER AND HER ENTIRE CHARACTER REVOLVES AROUND FLUIDITY ISN'T IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM FLUID IN HER GENDER AND SEXUALITY.
Fuck. I'm sorry. I don't even care if he doesn't say that. He's made so many disgusting, disparaging remarks about any piece of media that shows an inkling of progressive themes that what else am I supposed to expect?
If anyone watches it and sees this, lemme know. Watching an Anti-Woke bullshit video with just myself is just straight up wading through the desert without proper protection. No thanks.
Anyway watch Blue Eye Samurai again. Because I know you watched it. Watch it again. And again. And when you're done, watch Arcane. Watch She-Ra. Watch Dragon Prince. Castlevania. Watch anything "woke". Consume trans-positive shows. Make all the haters and even the ones who like it but have no ounce of media literacy irrelevant. Let them dry out and die, please.

These Are My Ladies
Request: Would it be too much to ask for a poly fic with female reader and all the marvel ladies being soulmates?
Pairing: Natasha x reader, Wanda x reader, Yelena x reader, Kate x reader, Carol x reader
Word Count: ~1.9K
A/N: Now, this was supposed to be a short fic, but it got away from me. Who knows, there might be more to this story. Dorogoy means sweetheart
Y/N was a well-known spy with the nickname; deadman. They called her that because you were a dead man walking when you saw her coming after you. She is no longer a spy because she was falsely accused of a crime she did not commit. No one heard her out, so she committed to a life of being an assassin/ mercenary.
While living her new life as a mercenary, she has had a lot of run-ins with the Avengers. She is on their most-wanted list but has yet to be caught.
The men on the team hate her because she is cocky, annoying, and arrogant. The women on the team have a different viewpoint of Y/N. The women all love Y/N because she is all of their soulmates.
Y/N is a soulmate to Natasha, Wanda, Yelena, Kate, and Carol, but they do not know about each other. They know that Y/N is a lesbian but not that she is poly with people on the team. Whenever Y/N runs into her girlfriends, no matter how much the job pays or how big the mission is, she always puts her girlfriends first.
Now Y/N is in a warehouse that is in the middle of nowhere. It was an easy job for Deadman because all she had to do was blow up an abandoned warehouse and get a bank for it. There was no heavy lifting or killing; she just had to make a bomb big enough to blow up the warehouse.
Y/N just finished hooking up the bomb and is now leaving the building. While walking out, she heard a noise that got her attention. She goes and investigates the sound and sees Yelena.
“Hey, dorogoy, what are you doing here?” Yelena looks at Y/N, confused.
“What are you doing here!?” Y/N says, panicked.
“You just asked me the same question, but we are here on a mission. There are captives in the basement, and we are getting them out safely.
“Shit, get everyone out here now!” Y/N says and runs back to the bomb. Without thinking, Yelena tells everyone they must leave there immediately. Everyone is confused about why they have to go.
“Deadman is here and says that we need to go now!” Yelena says. When they hear that Deadman said it, then it must be serious. They ensure they get all the captives out of the warehouse into the jet.
Now Wanda, Kate, Yelena, Natasha, and Carol are waiting outside the building for their girlfriend to come out. Then the building blows up, kicking them back a bit and landing on their butts.
They get up and look at the rubble to see if Y/N made it out. After a few minutes and no sign of her, Carol and Wanda use their powers to go in and look for Y/N.
After a bit of time, they were able to find Y/N in the rubble, but she was unconscious and badly hurt. She has cuts and bruises all over her body, and her head is bleeding. They take her into the jet and go back to the compound. The ride back was silent because everyone was worried about Y/N. They give the captives to SHELID so they can go somewhere safe.
Once that was all settled, they rushed Y/N into the med bay with Bruce and Dr. Cho.
“What happened?!” Dr. Cho says, looking at Y/N, who is batter and bruised.
“There was an explosion on the mission, and she got caught in it,” Natasha says quietly.
“You mean the warehouse that should have been empty? Why was she there, and why was there an explosion?” Bruce questions the ladies because he knows Y/N was not there for anything good.
“Well, I am pretty sure she planted the explosion, but when she saw that we were there, she warned us and tried to stop it,” Yelena defends.
“It doesn’t matter what the story is; we need to help her, Bruce,” Dr. Cho says, taking a closer look at Y/N. Bruce sighs and helps.
“We will do everything that we can,” Bruce says.
“Please, she is my soulmate,” all of the ladies say at the same time. They all look at each other like they are crazy.
“What do you mean she is your guys’ soulmate? She is mine; we felt the bond and everything,” Wanda says.
“We felt the bond, too,” Carol says, and the rest of the ladies nod in agreement.
Bruce and Dr. Cho are stunned but don’t say a word and continue to help Y/N. The ladies gave Bruce and Dr. Cho space and left the med bay. They all walk to the living room to talk about the news that they just heard.
“So, are all of you telling me that you all felt the soulmate bond with Y/N,” Natasha says, and they all nod.
“How is that possible? When I first met Y/N, she was on a mission to kill someone, and I was going to stop her. We met eyes, and I immediately knew that Y/N and I were supposed to spend the rest of our lives together. She’s like home for me,” Kate says, upset that Y/N might not be her soulmate.
“I understand that. The same thing happened to me. She takes me out on the best dates and tells me she loves me. I guess she doesn’t, though,” Carol says with her head down.
“We go on lots of dates, and she says I love you to me too,” Natasha says, defeated. At that point, all the ladies realize that Y/N has claimed she is their soulmate. Also doing the same thing with each one of them.
“Look, let’s just confront her when she wakes up so we can get to the bottom of this,” Yelena says, standing up and then going to the gym to let off some steam.
Hours later, Bruce and Dr. Cho find all the ladies and tell them that Y/N is okay and now resting in the med bay. They all go together to see Y/N wake up.
They enter the room where Y/N is staying and crowd around her bed. At first, Y/N was asleep and slowly woke up to all of her soul mates at her bedside.
“Yee! You all are here,” Y/N looks around the room and sees that they all look mad, “I am sensing that you guys are mad,” Y/N says, sitting up in the bed.
“You have some explaining to do,” Wanda says calmly, trying her best not to raise her voice.
“Okay, what do I have to explain?” Y/N says, oblivious to the situation right in front of her.
“How come you have five soulmates? You know that is impossible to have right; you can only have one soulmate,” Kate says.
“Also, how can you make us all feel the soulmate bond!? Are you a mutant, and this is your power?! To mess with all of our feelings!” Yelena says, raising her voice, but Natasha calms her down by rubbing her back. Y/N looks around at all of them.
“What do you mean? You all are my soulmates. I can’t fake a soulmate bond; that will be impossible to do, and you all know that” Y/N sighs, “let me come clean. You are all my soulmates, and I love you all very much. I just have five soulmates. I thought I would only have one when I was younger, but all that changed when I met Nat for the first time” Y/N looks at Natasha and smiles. She grabs Natasha's hand and rubs her knuckles because she knows that Natasha doesn’t like PDA.
“Then I met Wanda for the first time, and it was the same magic all over again as I did with Nat” Y/N takes Wanda’s hand and kisses her knuckles because she knows that Wanda like it when she does that.
“Then I met Carol, and I realize that I am going to have many soulmates because the exact same feeling happened again” Y/N tugs Carol's belt loop so she can lean in and give Carol a kiss on the lips. Carol might be a big, bad, and powerful avenger, but she sometimes likes it when someone takes charge.
“I met Kate next and again; I felt the same bond as the rest” Y/N caresses Kate’s cheek because Kate loves as much physical contact as possible.
“Recently, I met Yelena for the first time, and the same thing happened again” Y/N tucks Yelena’s hair behind her ear. Yelena is just like her sister and doesn’t like PDA and is still warming up to being physical with each other. Now it is the small gestures that make Yelena feel special.
“The reason why I didn’t tell you all is because I wanted you guys to feel special and not like you are sharing me. I have been doing this for years, and don’t you all feel like I paid all my attention to each and every one of you” Y/N questions, and all the ladies nod in silence.
“See! Look, I know it was wrong not telling you all, and eventually, I knew that I would have to tell you all, but I didn’t want to ruin our magic. Plus, I am not the best of friends with the Avengers as a whole because of my background, and you guys weren’t going to tell each other that you were my soulmate,” Y/N smiles.
“Well, you were right about that, and you did make us feel special like we were your only soulmate,” Carol says.
“You came to every one of our dates and anniversaries,”  Wanda says.
“You made sure you stay in contact with us daily,” Yelena says.
“Every time we needed you for something small or big, you came and helped us,” Natasha says.
“You made sure we were safe regarding a mission,” Kate says.
“I tried my best for all of you, and I love all of you with all my heart. You guys feel it too, because of the soulmate bond. I wouldn’t lie to you guys ever. I hope with this news that nothing has to change,” Y/N says hopefully.
“No, nothing has to change. You are an amazing soulmate to us all. Right guys?” Carol asks, and they all agree.
“Yeah, this can work. It was strange that I didn’t get jealous when you kissed or held the other hand like I do when it is a stranger,” Wanda says.
“That’s because you are all my soulmates. You shouldn’t feel jealous of each other, just other people. We are all bonded” Y/N looks at all her soulmates.
“So does that mean we are soulmates with each other?” Kate ask.
“Technically, yes and no. We are all bonded, but you guys don’t need to have any relations with each other. I mean, Natasha and Yelena are sisters,” Y/N says.
“They aren’t blood sisters,” Carol points out.
“I will never kiss Nat!” Yelena says.
“I will never kiss you either,” Nat says, and Y/N laughs.
“Not like that. If you guys want to cuddle or do other stuff with each other, I don’t mind because we are all bonded. Now let’s do a group hug,” Y/N says with open arms, and everyone joins in on the group hug.

On the History of the Term Compulsory Heterosexuality
The history of the term compet started in a 1980 essay written by feminist lesbian author Adrienne Rich entitled “Compulsory Heterosexuality and the Lesbian experience”. In this essay I believe she lays out a lot of amazing points and really puts in the groundwork for the term compulsory heterosexuality. It has been over 40 years since her original essay was written and while I think a lot of points still stand the time, some I have a hard time agreeing with.
One of the main contentions I have with Adrienne Rich’s is how she frames lesbianism. I do agree that lesbianism is inherently anti patriarchy because we are the only sexuality to not center men in any way. To some extent I can understand the argument that lesbianism is inherently political. The same way I believe my existence as a Jewish is also a political statement. After thousands of years of genocide we then Jewish people are still here. The same can be said about any group that has experienced genocide. But I don't identify as Jewish as a political statement. I AM Jewish and that is the political stamens. She also believes we shouldn't use the term “lesbianism” as a stigmatized clinical term. Nevertheless I disagree with the notion that you can also identify as a lesbian as a political statement. As of late there have been many movements to decenter men. The main one coming to mind as of late is the 4B movement. The 4B movement started in Korea and the 4Bs are the 4 things they agree to never do with men. Bi or 비 means no in this context.
비섹스 Biseksu - No sex with men
비출산 Bichulsan - No having kids with men
비연애 Biyeonae - No dating men
비혼 Bihon - No marrying men
You can choose not to center men in your life while still being straight or bisexual. My identity as a lesbian and my lack of attraction to men exists outside of the patriarchy. I find it really demeaning and belittling to the lesbian experience to say people who are attracted to men can choose to be a lesbian or adopt that title because of lifestyle choices they made. This idea of the lesbian continuum where every woman experiences or that lesbianism is an extension of feminism I can't agree with. I feel like we do all share a sisterhood as a result of being victims of the patriarchy but I don't believe that is lesbianism or the correct term to refer to that. She says that people can exist on the lesbian continuum without wanting to ever touch another woman’s genitals and I don't believe that's what being a lesbian is. Straight and bisexual women do exist and what good is there in erasing their identities?
I also hate the idea that heterosexuality isn't natural. Obviously the idea that everyone is naturally heterosexual is wrong but the same way being gay is natural being straight is natural. Wanting connection and a community, romantic connection even sex is natural. I feel like this unintentionally feeds into shaming women about their sexuality and slut shaming. I agree that heterosexuality Isn't inherent to all women but it is of some and that’s okay. As a lesbian I feel proud when I see women talking about how much they love or are attracted to men sexually. For so long women were expected to be pure, to never think about things like sex and now we're finally at a stage where women are accepting their sexualities even if they are straight. At the same time I'm proud of any straight women who takes part in movements like 4B who chooses to actively decenter men in their life but that doesn't make them a lesbian. Women's sexuality has always been about men. They're supposed to be sexual when they're told and pure when they're told. Women choosing to take their sexuality into their own hands and doing what they actually want to do no matter what that is, is progress.
The 4B movement is not perfect, it is riddled with TERFS (Trans exclusionary radical feminist). I think a lot of feminist movements are inherently flawed because they focus on one subset of people. Intersectional feminism is amazing because it gives space to every single intersection of identities. As I've gotten older I've realized that I think a lot of people need to realize that not everything is for them and not everything is about them. I am an Ashkenazi Jewish lesbian. I can only relate to people who share those same traits and most people who do share one trait with me don't share all of them. You are not going to relate to everyone's experience or oppression but you can still hold space for them and let them speak. You are not going to relate to everyone's feelings or what they want to do in life but you can still respect them.
A key flaw I find in a lot of radical feminist movements is they care too much about things people do that have no direct impact on them. How does a trans woman existing affect a cis woman negatively in any way? Another extension of this is the discussions I see around plastic surgery. Why are we so quick to blame women for trying to fit in and live in a society that can be so harsh? So many women will victim shame other women in the guise of feminism. If a woman chooses to be a stay at home Mom logically we can understand no decision can be made in a bubble outside of patriarchy but we can still respect her decision if that’s what makes her happy. Choice feminism is not being freed from the patriarchy nor am I trying to say it's good but shaming women for making choices that don't negatively impact anyone else isn't any better. Shaming women for trying to survive in a society that wants us perfect or dead is counterproductive. I got into an argument with someone on TikTok and they were saying that by shaving our bodies we're trying to resemble children and therefore it's appealing to pedophiles. In addition it's imposed by the patriarchy and we wouldn't do it without societal pressure. Before I tackle the parts about patriarchy I want to talk about the pedophilic aspect. First of all I find it weird to say that people who are attracted to grown women are pedophilic because they're shaved. Pedophiles aren't attracted to adult women and adult women don't instantly look like children because they shave their vulva. Women like Belle Delphine who do actively try to appeal to pedophiles don't just shave their vulva. They wear children's clothes, diapers, wear fake braces, suck on teethers and make baby noises. You should never conflate that with a grown woman shaving. I am autistic and since I started growing body hair I have compulsively shaved. I have very very bad sensory issues and the feeling of my body hair rubbing on fabrics, even me rubbing my legs together and feeling body hair makes me literally shiver. When I brought this up to her she responded with a few points. The first was “why did sensory issues not exist 50 years ago.” I explained that 50 years ago many people did not know the vocabulary to properly explain their experience. The idea that women can even have autism has only recently been accepted. She also asked me why the hair I had sensory issues only applied to the hair below my eyes. It doesn't apply to hair just below my eyes. I can't have bangs because I don't like the feeling and I'm currently in the process of growing them out. Sometimes I style bangs for pictures or videos but so quickly I usually pin my bangs back and put my hair up in a clip. If I wear a hood I have to always put my hair up because I don't like how hair under clothing feels. That’s actually the reason why I usually never wear hoods or hats. Her response to this was to tell me to get help. I say this all to make the point that your experience is not everyone else's. Just because you've never heard of something before doesn't mean it doesn't exist and it doesn't happen.
I hate this idea that “because it hurts my feelings it's bad” not everything is about you. If someone loses weight it's not because they hate all fat people. If someone gets a nose job it's not because they think all people with a nose similar to theirs are ugly. Most insecurities are personal and when they make these choices they aren't thinking about other people and what they look like, they're thinking about themselves only. If you see someone change something about themselves and you get mad at it it's probably because you have an insecurity of your own you need to work on. This also applies to people who bully people. If you go out of your way to bully someone for being fat and ugly you're probably projecting how you feel onto them. Secure people don't feel the need to belittle people who probably already have a hard time in society.
Women are so diverse and have such a diverse set of experiences yet one we all have is the impact
of the patriarchy. Yet some women will shame other women for actually being impacted by the patriarchy. Shaming people because they don't live the exact same lifestyle you do is just so wrong. To move forward and dismantle the patriarchy we need to target the men and sometimes the women who actively perpetuate and keep the patriarchy alive. The woman who took ozempic isn't your enemy, it's the men who told her she needed to be skinny to be attractive. 40 years after “Compulsory Heterosexuality and the Lesbian Experience” was published a lot of issues brought up in the essay are still sadly prominently issues. Sexual violence, forced marriges, discrimination against women in job fields, access to birth control and abortion and how they get judged based on their looks and there's only one way to be a woman and only one way to dress and present yourself as a woman. I find it very sad how in 40 years people pretend there has been so much progress but in reality nothing has changed. I also agree with the fact that compulsory heterosexuality is only something women (people raised as women) can experience due to the fact throughout history women have to have a husband to get anywhere or be anyone. I think a lot of gay men will conflate compulsory heterosexuality with adapting to live in a just heteronormative society but in fact it's about adapting to live in a heteronormative and misogynistic patriarchal society which Adrienne Rich explained really well. Men have freedom, women only have the freedom men give them. Women have been consistently limited by who they marry. Because the heteronormative society is also a misogynistic society where women are second class to men. Saying compulsory heterosexuality is a lesbian only experience isn't to undermine the experience of gay men but to highlight the experience of lesbian women.

Top 10 greek myths common interpretations that goes from slightly annoying me to make me want to unleash my inner Spartan warrior combined with Achilles' rage. Most of this list will be overall flanderization critic (and uh if this somehow offends any actual believer. Don't think it will but just in case tell me and I'll apologize)
1. Congratulations, you missed the point : Demeter being a bad parent. Been said a thousand times before, you know the drill. Listen I get wanting to make Hades and Persephone an actual loving couple, truly, but this is the prime example of making a story more misogynistic than it originally was. Also incredibly overdone.
1.5 Related to 1 but just the sentence "Hades and Persephone have one of the healthiest relationship in mythology" get out. Get out. (Shoutout to the other Olympian/Underworld gods couple Pasithea and Hypnos)
2. The wedding of Aphrodite and Hephaestus. So let me be clear. A woman is forced into a loveless marriage with a guy that sees her as a trophy. She still has sex with the guy she ACTUALLY loves (and that she was with before the wedding btw) but when he humiliates them in front of half Olympus people's reaction is "Omg poor Hephaestus he didn't deserve that he's a good guy" I'm going to strangle someone (also did y'all forget about what happens to Harmonia and her children ? The man was bitter. I don't like it much either but come on) . Also ironic considering Aglaia is right there but good luck seeing a mention of her lfmaooo. (We're a Aphrodite/Ares supporter in this house !) But NOOOOO we have to focus on the MAN's feelings AND villainize a woman (because since she "cheated" that's all she amounts to). I surely don't see Zeus and Hera get the same treatment !
3. The Iliad pack : making tue characters one dimensional : HELEN, Menelaus, Agamemnon, Hector, Achilles etc
4. ARES. My dude. Do I even have to say anything ? His characterisation is fascinating, even though some of it probably got lost and some was added to slander him. There's as much complexity to him as any other god (his relationship with goddesses/women, as well as the "Feasted by women" epithet even though women got the worst of it in war ?). The myth where he kills his daughter' rapist (a son of Poseidon) goes to trial in front of the other gods for it and get ACQUITTED ? The double standard between him and the other gods is insane.
5. APHRODITE. Again. On one hand you have the vapid woman obsessed with her looks, and on the other her being associated with the sentence "Make love not war" like... lmao. It's more complex than that. You're free to see her more inclined or repulsed towards it but making her completely dissociated with it is... exactly what they did in the Iliad... because they felt the need to because one war goddess is enough I guess. God forbid Aphrodite Areia goes on killing spree family bonding day with her man and Phobos and Deimos
6. Dionysus and Ariadne. Because I need the reasoning about why you would choose the version where he orders Theseus to leave her on the island other than wanting to make Theseus look good (and screwing a woman over). Which lots of people assume this version was made by the Athenians for that purpose 😭. But seriously why ruin one of the most beautiful relationships of the greek pantheon for a child kidnapper ??? (justice for Helen)
7. Congratulations, you missed the point : Eros and Psyche. She's supposed to be UNATTAINABLE. Something about changing that part of the story puts me off (maybe I'll try to explain it another time). Also depriving Psyche of her agency again god forbid a woman is the protagonist 😭 (I've seen it twice. There are probably more)
8.1. No, Artemis isn't a men hater (Unrelated but I realized she's the og lesbian hunter)
8.2. Now I have never seen Apollo hate with my own eyes but... apparently it's out there
9. Hera. Someone save her. She's the embodiment of the "You couldn't even handle her" memes
10. Now this is more on the "slight tick" side of the scale because the fanarts etc are gorgeous but. Achilles wasn't blonde. And even if he was... him and Patroclus are supposed to look alike. I'm aware the Hades/TSOA designs had an influence on this and I don't really mind it but if you want accuracy... yeah.

On the double standards of Taylor’s love life and Swifties’ role in Taylor’s reputation
{Fair warning: this is kind of long and I actually originally wrote it during the Ratty stuff but it’s relevant now and this post from @9w1ft (specifically the tweet) made me think that maybe this needed to be really laid out there. }
Disclaimer: I am in no way claiming to know what Taylor’s sexuality is definitively, nor am I suggesting that every relationship she’s had with a man was fake, or that she is a lesbian. I myself have experienced enough bi erasure and biphobia to know better, but I had to put this out there explicitly so hetlors don’t have that as a “gotcha”.
Swifties have the lowest possible standards for whom they consider to be a boyfriend of Taylor’s.
Their standards are a) the media has to stir something up b) they have to interact distantly in some public capacity before they c) walk around together (holding hands or not).
I can give you the names so many women with whom Taylor acted like that, often for longer periods of time and with more interaction than a couple dinners and pap walks or whatever she’s done with those men. And that’s without time to go do research which would doubtlessly turn up more names.
To name some examples:
Karlie Kloss, Diana Agron, Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Blake Lively, Cara Delevingne, Martha Hunt, Sophie Turner, Lorde, all three Haim sisters, Zoe Kravitz, Emma Stone, Camila Cabello, Lily Aldridge, Lily Donaldson.
(To be clear, I’m not suggesting that Taylor dated all or most of those women.)
Now, I have no doubt that if most swifties looked up photos of Taylor with a lot of those women they’d go “they aren’t even doing anything in that picture” or “they’re just walking side by side” or whatever else.
THAT’S THE POINT
I’m 1000% sure that if you photoshopped a man into basically any of those pics people would assume they’re dating because they’re walking together.
Almost all of Taylor’s supposed boyfriends have had significantly less interaction with her than those women, but people don’t hesitate to say she’s dating the men. Her team can and will deny it, but swifties will add a name to their list anyway, and that creates a whole other problem.
The sl*t shaming:
In my opinion, the sl*t shaming that Taylor has experienced for about the last 15 years has been, at least in part, because of swifties who jump to conclusions about men she’s seen with. When her own fans believe she’s dated however many guys, it’s that much easier for the media to repeat that and twist it to be negative.
If you wouldn’t look at a random guy and girl standing within a few feet of each other or walking together and come to the conclusion that they must be dating, why do you assume that about Taylor? Or, for that matter, does every person of the opposite gender that you associate with have to be your SO?
[And yes that can easily be turned around on Gaylors, but the whole point is that we aren’t solely using proximity to link potential exes or lovers to Taylor. We actually do the analysis of the lyrics, we break down the connections, we do the research.]
My point is that swifties have contributed on a large scale to Taylor’s sl*t shaming in a way that should make them think twice about who they claim she’s dating. Unfortunately as we’ve seen with this M*tty situation {and now the football guy}, they don’t seem to have the self awareness to realize how they’ve aided such a disgusting campaign of hate.
One more thing: you can say that no one will say those things now anyway because Taylor is on top of the world and they wouldn’t dare sl*t shame the Queen of Pop or “The Music Industry”. You might even be right. But if you do this and feel no guilt or shame over how your actions may have played a part in the several intense periods of sl*t shaming that Taylor has gone through previously, you need to think about why that is.
Taylor said it best in her speech at the Grammy museum in September 2015. She was introducing Blank Space and talking about the situation that made her write the song.
“In the last couple of years the media have had a really wonderful fixation on kind of painting me as like the psycho serial dater girl… It got pretty out of control there for a couple of years because… every article would be like, Taylor Swift Standing Near Some Guy. Watch Out Guy!”
That sounds insane, and it was definitely worse then than it is now, but the fact that it’s happening right now at all is ridiculous. Swifties need to stop helping the media tie Taylor’s name to men as if that makes her relevant. She’s a highly awarded singer, songwriter, and performer who has set and broken records (and then broken the ones she’s set) countless times. Swifties need to stop pretending that dating someone is what makes her interesting or we’re no better than the people who think she only writes breakup songs.

I feel like apart from what you said about B'elanna being interested in men only under some dubious consent scenario, whatever she had going in previously to Voyager and being in DQ was trying to be as normal as possible for her father's validation, whether she realized she was doing it or not. And besides, she only ever had a good relationship with people who didn't seem to ever be a possible partner for whatever reason. She's very lesbian coded to me for that.
(In reference to this post)
Man, you're so right. B'Elanna doing things with the perspective of pleasing (the imaginary perfect version that can do no wrong of) her father is a really good observation here. Her stint at Starfleet Academy comes to mind (John Torres was supposed to be a Starfleet officer, according to a deleted line from “Barge of the Dead”), but it's definitely not the only example of this tendency. So much of B'Elanna's life is conditioned by what she thinks he would do, even if I don't think she realizes it (she only starts having dreams of her childhood after discovering that she's pregnant etc); in a way B'Elanna has always been trying to recreate a version of her family where through her hard work and determination things won't end the way they did for her and her mother. I totally agree that her sticking with Tom for so long, despite his behavior and despite so many examples of their early attraction being due to alien crap and/or that declaration of love extracted in a near-death situation, is a symptom of that abandonment trauma as well. I think this is true even outside of a lesbian B'Elanna reading, but it certainly adds some weight to the argument as well. I mean, I know that "lesbian with daddy issues" (hate the term) is kind of a cliché but then again it's not like this was in any way intentional, and as I mentioned reading B'Elanna as a lesbian makes everything that happens to her on Voyager even more brutally heartwrenching.
And you're again right about her choice of potential partners, even the fact that she and Tom started flirting a little when they already disagreed on a lot... can be very easily read as 'I find this guy irritating so I must be secretly attracted to him' which, well. I know from personal experience it's one hell of a mind-trick for closeted lesbians. Her supposedly 'Klingon' attitude towards romance is very significant here imho. Why would B'Elanna lean into her Klingon cultural roots in just this one case, when more often than not she's ashamed of them (and I'm not saying this shame is 'good' by any means), if not because it gives her the perfect excuse to realign her feelings with heterosexual expectations?
Truly the more I look at it the more I can read reluctance and coercion and trauma in B'Elanna when it comes to her sexual relationship with men in general and Tom in particular. There's nothing intentional here of course (just the usual trouble Trek has with answering the question 'are women people?', compounded with and made worse by racism in B'Elanna's case) but the show lends itself well for a lesbian B'Elanna interpretation. And again, the thought that she might be a lesbian... makes all that happened to her on Voyager even more transparently horrifying.

Any advice for women questioning if they might be bi?
This is an interesting question that I'm not quite sure how to answer. I thought I might tell you what my own experience in figuring out my sexuality was like, but I might have a bit of a weird story since understanding my attraction to men was actually more difficult than my attraction to women. This is stupid long and a bit navel gazey (walking down memory lane since I'm currently staying at my mom's place in my hometown). If you want to skip to the TLDR section at the bottom, I put the advice that came to me while writing this there. I hope it helps a bit, but if not, maybe others might want to add their own advice for anon in the replies?
I grew up in a smaller Alberta city that leaned conservative, but I was lucky enough to have open-minded and accepting parents who were pro gay rights. I went to catholic school (for french immersion lol), and before I even had the awareness that same sex attracted people existed, my elementary school friend group ostracized me, they said they thought I was a lesbian because I liked dinosaurs and roughhousing too much.
I was very confused until I was about 12 and learned that women could indeed be attracted to and have relationships with other women; that's when the understanding hit that there was a reason I felt differently about certain girls than I did about my other girl friends. Why I loved to sit next to them and stare at each individual feature of their faces when they talked, why I treasured the chihuahua webkinz Cristina from the bus gave me for christmas so much (I bought her a pack of lip smacker lip balm, this is so nostalgic lol), why I often gave Julia from my soccer team a playful shove if only to touch her for just a second. Now I knew what I was feeling. The problem was, aren't girls supposed to like boys? My peers would talk about how hot this one was and how they wanted that one's number; I just didn't get it. Boys were all just kind of weird and gross and scary to me.
In the next couple years I read more about lesbian gay and bisexual history and culture, learned that it wasn't wrong for me to love women but that many people wouldn't accept that. In high school (catholic high school!), if people asked, I answered truthfully, and it didn't make me popular. This is basically the reason I absolutely hate the word Queer; I had that word spat at the back of my head in the hallways by the grease ape hockey players who joked about "drinking beers and hitting queers". I had my share of crushes but didn't dare act on them. It frankly sucked, but I still made some friends.
(Funny tangent here: I had made a couple of new friends who were kind of in the 'cool bad girls' clique but didn't know my reputation. At lunch one day they stole my phone and as a prank they texted my mom "I have something to tell you... I like women" and she answered "you already told me that??" LMAOOO my mom felt so bad but like I told her, how was she supposed to know? anyway those girls didn't hang out with me much after that.)
Later on, I tried harder to fit in at school. I wore a lot of makeup and had a boyfriend for a couple months, which only confused me further. He asked me out and he was considered desirable and he was nice and didn't make fun of me, so I said yes. I used to set an alarm on my phone when I was at his place and pretended my mom was calling me and I had to leave. That scene at the start of But I'm a Cheerleader where Megan is just sitting there letting her boyfriend make out with her while she waits for it to be over, it really resonated with me when I watched it the first time lol. When he started hinting he wanted to have sex and put my hand on his boner through his pants, I couldn't take it anymore and ended it. I began to think I just wasn't into men at all. I kind of ignored them after that.
After a tumultuous almost-relationship with another girl who got then scared into claiming she was straight again by the homophobia at school and her religious mother (and then we weren't allowed to be each other's grad partners even as platonic friends), I had my first girlfriend after I graduated high school (we're still friends although she's fully into the theythem sphere now). She moved to another province and I discovered I'm not the type of person who can handle long distance relationships, so that was the end of that.
Finally in college, where people usually have their same-sex experimentation phase, I instead discovered that I am indeed attracted to men, I guess it just took me a while to find the ones who did it for me. A coworker turned close friend turned FWB turned long-term boyfriend confirmed that for sure. It was a whirlwind of self discovery but I was glad to have finally figured out what I was questioning for so long. So at the age of 19, I became as sure as I am now that I am not gay, not straight, but bisexual. I don't know if the kinsey scale thing is bullshit or not but I'd say I sit at about a 4. Things sort of fell into place for me eventually, which I think was lucky for me and I'm grateful for it.
TLDR SECTION:
I knew I was attracted to women from my early teens on, didn't figure out if I liked men until college years.
So if you're still with me, that's why I don't exactly know what advice to give you. Honestly, I wrote all of that mostly hoping you might find something relatable in there to build off of. Basically, are you romantically attracted to women, do you want to hold her hands, kiss her deeply, spend all your time with her, be filled with joy when you hear the beautiful sound of her voice, hold her closely until you fall asleep together? and Are you sexually attracted to women, is there a longing in you when you think about touching her body, her breasts, her stomach, her lips, her thighs, her vulva, the sensation of her touching you too? If it's yes to all of the above... yeah you're probably attracted to women.
But if it's yes to only one subset or another, here's the thing: I've seen a ton of straight people online and in my personal life claim they're bi because they're able to tell which individuals of their own sex are conventionally attractive or not. I posted a while ago about my straight male coworker who said "I think the guitarist in my favourite band is hot so I guess I might be queer?" and my other coworkers who immediately jumped in like YES YOU'RE QUEER YOU'RE SO QUEER leaving me like... okay but would you kiss him? Have sex with him? Fall in love with him? Again that's not necessarily your case, just that the lines have been seriously blurred when it comes to sexuality, between this sort of "everyone can be queer" thing and also the ubiquity and oversaturation of porn. Porn warps the shit out of all your mental processes but especially arousal and romantic and sexual bonding. This is how we get those women who talk about how they would fuck women but never have a romantic relationship with her. Porn culture warps their minds into viewing other women as objects from which to derive sexual pleasure, even if their natural orientation is heterosexual.
I guess my number one advice is that if you want to try romance and intimacy with a woman, MAKE SURE you are upfront with the fact that you're questioning your sexuality. There's no shame in questioning, of course. But another user and I were just talking about the large number of curious straight women who go on dating apps and waste the time and crush the spirits of gay and bi women who are just looking for love, not looking to be a litmus test or an experiment. I'm sure there are women out there who would be happy to explore your attraction with you, but also be on the lookout for people looking to take advantage of you and ABSOLUTELY run the other way if it's a het couple looking for a third, holy fuck don't even give those crusties the time of day.
Another piece of advice for you is that no two women are the same. Being attracted to women doesn't mean you'll be attracted to EVERY woman. This is why I'm wary of the types who say "I'm attracted to all women and only some specific men" like that sounds fake as fuck. Bi and gay woman have types and preferences just like straight women do.
All you can really do is keep thinking on it, keep exploring your feelings. It could help to talk it out with other lesbian or bisexual women in your life if you're lucky enough to have them. I wish you the very best but don't stress too much over it either. There's no rush, take your time, be well.

so, here are the next funny statements of exclusionists..))0)
problem 2, 3, 4: lesbophobia, mspecphobia, homophobia historical note: until the 1970s, the word “lesbian” had the same meaning as the current word “sapphic” - the attraction of any non-men to any non-men. without any restrictions. Over time, for political reasons, bisexuality began to be separated from lesbianism. going “back” would, in fact, do great harm to bisexual people and lesbians, whose identities are already quite established.
Moreover, lesbians often experience forced heterosexuality, a phenomenon where a lesbian thinks she is attracted to men when in fact she is not. “mspec lesbianism” is an erasure of the compget experience and the political history of queerness and lesbianism that these labels have lived through.
It is also important to note that lesbianism since the 1970s does not and will never include men for reasons that lesbianism and feminism are historically strongly intertwined. at the time when the term "lesbian" took on its current meaning, it was a political act of refusing male approval. the same is true for mspec identities - they were not separated from the general blurred “lesbian” and “gay” so that the unique experience of mspec people would be erased
/ quote
Okay that's just straight up radfem/TERF shit.
1. "Lesbian" is an orientation, not a fucking political stance. Irreparable harm has been done to the lesbian community when the love of women was decentralized in favor of hating men and refusing men. Even me, a person who isn't attracted to men romantically or sexually, it is not about hating guys! It's about loving girls and loving enbies! My orientation should not be made all about men, even if the way they do it is by centralizing how much I don't like them. My lack of attraction to guys does matter to me as well and I use labels like nomaromantic, demetic, nominromantic, etc. to describe that aspect but being a lesbian is about my love and not the lack of it
Also I fucking love men platonically. I have great male friends, trans and cis. I don't think I could in good faith make my identity about how much I hate men and rejecting them as a political stance when some of the guys in my life are wonderful people.
2. We are not going back. Lesbian separatism, despite all its flaws, would be difficult to reverse, and not worth it. Most mspecs don't identify with lesbian or gay. All we want now is for people to recognize that these are historical identities, that they shouldn't have been erased, and that people who are comfortable using lesbian or gay in a non-exclusive way have a right to.
3. No, mspec lesbians don't erase comphet. Someone who feels comphet enough could label as such because of their comphet, and that would be perfectly valid - using mspec to acknowledge that they are attracted to men and women, and using lesbian to acknowledge that the attraction to men is not quite "real" - but also, mspec lesbians who are genuinely attracted to men have nothing to do with comphet! I have experienced it before and it's... It's not real attraction. It's your brain tricking you into thinking you like someone of the opposite gender because that's what you're "supposed" to do. Mspec lesbians who like dudes? They're probably not experiencing comphet, they actually like men genuinely.
4. You don't get to exclude men from the most well known women-loving-women label when some men are women. Multigender and genderfluid people will always exist.

prev anon here: the article is far too long, but i quoted the section. this article is from the 1970s, but it was reprined in this issue on the request of some other reader, so there are women who still think this way.
"HOMOSEXUAL – This word should also, in my opinion, be erased from our language: les-bian language. According to Webster’s Dictionary, the homosexual is one who has, or “exhib-its sexual desire toward a member of one’s own sex.” As has been pointed out by others before, such a definition puts the total emphasis on the sexual aspects of our lives – homosexuals aresimply sexual beings (i.e., resulting in such questions as “What do they do in the daytime?”).Calling ourselves homosexuals almost seems to reinforce the stereotype that lesbians are over-sexed women who will be “cured” (sic) as soon as they meet the man (penis) capable of fulfillingtheir vast sexual desires. Another possible misleading undertone to the word homosexual is theimplication that female homosexuals are attracted to women in the same manner that males areattracted to women. Of course, the primary reason a man is attracted to a specific woman isbecause of her physical beauty, and I doubt lesbians love women solely for their physical charac-teristics. And despite what the general public believes, generally a lesbian who’s attracted tosome woman acts nothing like most men would (i.e., whistle, grab, put the make on, hustle, try toscore, etc.). The term homosexual almost implies that lesbians feel and act like straight men, since both simply “desire” women, but thankfully this is far from the truth. In her book LoveBetween Women, Charlotte Wolff states that a lesbian would more correctly be labeled “homo-emotional” rather than “homo-sexual,” making the important distinction of placing the emphasison the emotional, instead of the physical, part of her orientation. Yes, I enjoy sex with womenmore than I did with men, but that is basically because my emotional relationships with womenare so much more intense and fulfilling than those with men could ever be. It is because of theserelationships that I am a lesbian; I am not a homosexual."
"i am not a homosexual" we know lol.
"homoemotional" really in every generation bisexual women were busy inventing the split attraction model because they simply dont understand that bad or boring sex with men because men are shitty to women does not make them lesbians, preferring sex with women does not make them lesbians.
this whole argument is so dumb i dont even know what to say. its like when you tell TRAs a woman is a female so they respond with "oh so you think woman are breeders?" um no? also how is saying lesbians are attracted sexualyl to women implying they need penis to satisfy them? disgusting and stupid.
i understand why homosexual is the one word all gay and lesbian people are increasingly using, because all these fakers and appropriaters hate it.
Thank you! :)
As always, polilez can't help projecting their own feelings and showing how lesbophobic they are. Being homosexual is being sex-crazed, shallow, etc. and of course they denounce the lesbophobia of lesbians having a supposed male exception... even though they had sex with men and call themselves lesbians anyway (In a way, "abusive men made me a lesbian" / "comphet made me have sex with men" are just negative variants of "lesbians have male exceptions")
In my case, I was thinking of a big proponent of political lesbianism in France and Europe, Alice Coffin, who said in her book Lesbian Genius (right after talking about her ex-boyfriends...): "I am not lesbian because of orientation or attraction, like the wind veers north. Lesbians are not homosexuals."
(Speak for yourself, dumbass!)
So many bi women think preferring women or being disappointed in men makes them lesbians, and they outnumber us so easily that they can enable each other and marginalize us... I've even seen fakebians have an obvious crush on a man and being told by other "lesbians" that its doesn't mean anything and it's comphet! How does that confusion help anyone??
Homosexual doesn't have any ambiguity, which is definitely a good thing, but I don't want to abandon the word lesbian either... (and I think gold star sounds cute!)

So, you said Lady Gaga was maybe the last diva ... but what about Billie Eilish, Carly Rae, Lana del Rey, Florence and the Machine, Marina, and Mitski? I know I listed a bunch of artists, but I specifically choose these ones for their large queer/gay fanbases and (w/ the exception of Eilish) their lack of mainstream popularity. (I feel like Carly isnt mainstream anymore .... maybe Im wrong, though.)
There's no real formula, but here are qualities associate with diva worship as far as I see it:
-Larger than life. This might be the biggest one. Do they stand out? Are they bold? Funny? Glamorous? Would a drag queen want to impersonate them?
-Theatrical/proximity to theater. Everyone hates theater kids these days but you can't deny that traditionally this was a big deal. Not everything has to be a club banger. Ballads can be gay.
-Sexy/horny. This one is controversial, so I want to say that none of these points are "required" and certainly not this one. No one is questioning Liza Minnelli's gay icon status because she doesn't sex it up. But it's also no secret that gay men like horny women. When the Cock Destroyers duo didn't reach their possible target audience of straight men, gay men had their back. Kind of.
-Strength. If gay boys aren't crying to her that her strength inspired him to move out of Ohio, she's not a gay icon.
-Niche. A gay icon can be popular, sure, but not a crowd pleaser to just any crowd. I had a swiftie yell at me, "at least Taylor makes music for everyone and not just gays like your [presumed] fav Lady Gaga!" This irked me but I didn't take offense to it. Universality is impossible. The closest any artists came to universality is the abstract expressionists, and the average person thinks they're full of shit. But if you know your audience and intimately connect with them, that's better than any broad brush.
-Support for gay rights. This one is kind of obsolete. It's not a big deal anymore for a singer to come out in support of gay rights (the closest recent examples I can think of are The Chicks, which stood out more because they were standing against the country music establishment, and Carly Rae Jepsen cancelling that Boy Scouts concert). But if a singer was pro gay before it was cool, that stands out.
The glaring blind spot in my analysis is, hello, gay women? Lesbian/bi women music really is a blind spot for me, in part because they don't quite do the same "diva worship" treatment. But from the queer women I know, they're more loyal about listening to actual queer artists (most gay icons are straight, after all), more acoustic, more cathartic, less tethered to dance and bar culture. The main overlaps I see here are niche-ness and camp.
A lot of the singers you listed cultivate some sort of character. That's campy. Marina did this very explicitly with Elektra Heart, Lana with her whole "blue jeans fat cock" Americana thing, Florence with her acoustic witch thing. Mitski to me marks a transition where lesbian fan culture is getting more visibility in the public eye. Genuinely love that for my lesbians. But despite it all I really don't know if any are "divas" in the old guard sense. Gay is more mainstream now, the internet changed the face of diva worship (now called stan culture I suppose), and a lot of new music strives too hard for "relatability." Any true icon would feel dizzyingly out of place on TikTok. So, I'll leave that to other gays to figure out.

im just here to bitch to people who will understand lol all of my friends and my BROTHER keep fucking reblogging that bullshit post abt a trans guy whos 'gay both ways' (the one where hes gay with men and a 'lesbian' when hes with women) and it makes me fucking sick. not only are they invalidating my lesbianism, but they are also actively feeding into my REGULAR breakdowns about me potentially being a man/ending up with another trans guy and being stuck in that relationship. im terrified that one day im gonna realize im actually a man. this is a known fear i have, that i cant talk about bc its apparently 'transphobic' for me to be scared of being seen as a man. but im not a man! i know im not a man! i would fucking hate being a man! i just wanna get on T and be a masculine dyke.
even worse bc my friends are all trans themselves, a whole bunch are either gay men or bisexuals of various genders. FUCK even my friend whos a transbian is rebloging it and it makes me wanna cry. all of the people who are supposed to understand me and be in a community with me, dont see a problem with a man regularly sleeping with lesbians? it makes me feel insane bc no one else seems to even care than at best that dude is implying lesbians can 'find the right man' and at worse actively showing men an avenue to have sex with lesbians (aka fucking rape them! its rape!! no one seems to get it and i feel like im going insane.) idk it seems more and more that i need to just suck it up and have sex with men, trans and otherwise, to exist.
I’ve noticed how a lot of LGBTQ+ people love internalized transphobia, and the saddest thing is that they don’t even notice it’s internalized transphobia.
If you’re a man, your attraction to women will never be lesbian, regardless if you’re cis or trans. If you think you get a pass to call yourself a lesbian because you’re a trans man congratulations on being transphobic.
I wouldn’t be surprised if these are the same people who think transandrophobia is real.
I’m so sorry. They’re not really your friends if that’s the way they see your sexuality…

D'ARCE INSANE RAMBLINGS
IDK MAN I JUST THINK SHE'S A SAD LONELY TRANSGENDER GIRL TRYING TO FIT IN WITH OTHER WOMEN HER AGE AND REPRESSING HER LESBIANISM AND FORCING HERSELF TO LIKE MEN BY LATCHING ON TO THE FIRST MAN WHO LOOKS AT HER AND ASSUMES HIS CONSTANT DISMISSAL OF HER PERSON IS JUST A PART OF NORMAL HETEROSEXUAL LOVE (BASED ON STORIES OTHER WOMEN HAVE TOLD TO HER ABOUT THEIR LOVE LIVES ETC). I HAVE SUCH COMPLICATED FEELINGS ABOUT HER CHARACTER AND SEXUALITY AND EXPRESSIONS AND IT'S NOT IN A LOVE-HATE WAY BUT LIKE. I THINK SHE WOULD ASSUME SHE CARES ABOUT A LOT OF THINGS AND SHE WOULD ASSUME WRONG ABOUT THAT. SHE WOULD HAVE SEX WITH MEN LIKE SHE'S "SUPPOSED" TO BECAUSE SHE'S YOUNG AND FEEL DECENT PLEASURE AND ASSUME THAT'S IT AND BECAUSE SHE THINKS HER LOVE FOR LE'GARDE IS ACTUAL LOVE AND NOT JUST COPING SHE WON'T REALISE WHEN SHE ACTUALLY FALLS IN LOVE WITH A WOMAN, BECAUSE SHE WILL ASSUME IT'S JUST FRIENDSHIP, AND IF SHE EVER DID REALISE HER FEELINGS SHE'D FEEL HORRIBLE AND PREDATORY AND WRONG BUT IT'S ALSO SO GOOD AND IT'S THE MOST "RIGHT" SHE'S EVER FELT IN HER LIFE ABOUT ANOTHER PERSON, LIKE IT WORKS IN HER BRAIN AND HEART AND MAKES HER BLOOD RACE AND FUELS HER AROUSAL AND IT'S A HUNDRED TIMES STRONGER THAN WHAT SHE FELT FOR ANY MAN. AND THEN I DONT KNOW SHE HAS COOL TRANSGENDER AND LESBIAN SEX AND REALLY LIKES IT AND HER LIFE IS BETTER AND STUFF. I LIKE D'ARCE CAN YOU TELL
