What do you think about a Batfam x Supernatural crossover??? Like, Reader is Dean's twin, and Sam's older sister, but she can't take the boys' nonsense anymore (like the pranks in the first season) and goes out to hunt a nest of vampires alone, only in Gotham, Batman V and confronts her, she even runs away but is caught, so she tells the truth, he takes her to the mansion and everyone is extremely shocked that these creatures are real (including Bruce) but there is no way to deny the facts!! And meanwhile the boys are freaking out because their badass sister is missing and they're looking for her like crazy?

You had finally had enough. You just couldn’t take it anymore. The constant bickering and blame passing, the constant nights spent laying awake blaming yourselves when another got hurt…you were sick of it.
It was in the very early hours of the morning that you slipped out the door, with a handful of your belongings stuffed into a bag. It’s not like you had planned to ;eave forever..you just needed to get away for a little while. To take a breath of fresh air. You had found a hunt a few states over; a nest of vampires which should be simple enough.
You made your way to the bus station about 10 minutes before your bus was supposed to leave. It was just a short walk from the motel. You had considered taking a car or hitching a ride with someone, but you knew that Sam and Dean would be able to track you much easier if you did that. So, you opted to take a bus and exchange half-way there just to make sure they wouldn’t follow behind as quickly as you wanted them to. If you were lucky, you would make it back before they even figured out where you were. To say that they were going to be pissed when they found out would be an understatement. But you were an adult, for crying out loud. Hell, you were the same age as Dean and he seemed to run off without a care in the world.
There was little to no-one on the bus as it sped down the freeway. Supposedly that's because most people weren’t mad enough to get up at 2 in the morning to get on a bus. Either way, it was nice. You had disabled the tracker on your phone and plugged in your headphones to prepare for the drive.
Gotham city was a strange place. Extravagant, but strange. Dawn was slowly creeping into day when you hopped off the bus, and you could tell that the city was lively. There were people roaming the streets as the streetlamps flickered off and the lights inside the skyscrapers blinked on. There were dog walkers, couples holding hands and businessmen hailing cabs over the road. An eerie feeling hung about the city. You couldn’t place it, but there was something malevolent about this city. With the high rise buildings and twisting alleys,it seemed the perfect place for crime. The city was so big that people could just vanish. It was the perfect place for vampires.
You found your hotel a little way up the street. It was quaint with only one bed and a small table next to the wall by the ensuite, but it suited your needs perfectly.
Concealing a machete is not easy. Even though the city had died down slightly now it was past the mid-day hubbub, there were still people everywhere and you did not want to risk being caught by the police for carrying a weapon around. By wearing one of your jackets, you managed to conceal it under your arm as you began to scope out the city to find where the vampires were supposedly nesting.
When you finally found it, it seemed to tick all of the boxes: glazed windows, outskirts of the city, two entrances that you hoped wouldn’t lead to your untimely demise. Vampires were never very subtle. They were always the same.
The entrance to the building was concealed down a side-road. Checking your surroundings to make sure the coast was clear, you began to work on the lock. It snapped open and you made your way inside.
~
Sam and Dean were frantic.
The day had started out like any other. Sam had slipped out the door early in the morning for his run (a habit which Dean despised and thought was completely unnecessary). He had made nothing of the pile of pillows which you had stacked up on the couch beneath a blanket. It was only when he returned to find Dean nearly burning a floor in the carpet as he paced, taking angrily into the phone.
“No, I don't know where she could have gone, that's why I'm calling you!”  Dean was scared. Sam could tell that from the first word he spoke.
There was a pause as the person Dean was on the phone to spoke. Clearly, he wasn’t happy with the response they gave as he slammed the phone shut and threw it across the room.
“Son of a bitch” he yelled, hands coming up to pinch the bridge of his nose.
“What's going on?” Sam asked. He had a nasty feeling that he already knew.
“Y/Ns missing.”
“What?” Sam blinked.
“Yeah. I thought she’d been snatched at first but most of her stuff is gone too.”
Sam bit his lip. “Have you tracked her cell?”
His older brother nodded. “Nothing. I’ve tried calling her too. She’s turned it off.”
“Shit.”
~
You had managed to get yourself in a little bit of a pickle. And by ‘little bit of a pickle’, I mean ‘there were a lot more vampires than you thought and now you were fighting for your life’. So the usual, really.
When you had slunk inside the building it was completely silent as the vampires sheltered from the sun. But as you moved further into the room and began counting how many there were, you paled. Things hit the fan when you stepped backwards and knocked over a stack of books. All eyes snapped to you and you struggled to keep up with the sheer number of them. The scent of blood and sweat filled the room as you fought and swung. Most of it theirs, but some of it yours.
No matter how many you took down, their attacks never seemed to end. You had just sliced the head off of one when another three raced before you. They were about to reach you, their fangs bared and snarling, when someone tackled them to the ground. The boy was tall, muscular and dressed from head to toe in black, besides the brown jacket slung over the top and the red emblem on his chest. Another figure appeared to your left, also dressed in black. Though this time, his face was concealed by a domino mask and a blue symbol was imprinted on the front of it.
Although the vampires went down, it seemed the two vigilantes didn’t know how to kill them which meant that even with their help, you were going to get nowhere. So as they tussled with them, you swung your arm to defeat the one before you before moving to help them. When the last one went down, their attention snapped toward you as you wiped the end of the machete with the hem of your sleeve.
“What the hell was that?” The one in blue had you pinned up against the wall before you could even blink.
You scoffed. “A thank you would be nice.”
You pushed against his arm, trying to free yourself but he had you stuck firmly in place.
He lowered his voice, leaning closer to you. “I’m gonna ask you again: what the hell were they?”
“You won't believe me.” You told him slyly.
“Try us.” The one in red said.
“Vampires.”
The one in red snorted. “Funny. Now start talking before we arrest you for murder.”
“I told you you wouldn’t believe me.” You rolled your eyes. “If you let me go I’ll prove it to you.”
~
Dick and Jason honestly weren’t sure if they believed you or not. They had heard the commotion when they passed a building on patrol. People had been going missing in the area recently and they were investigating the area. When they saw you inside they were taken aback. Their initial instinct was to attack you, but when they realised that you were trying to stop the group of people they realised it was you who needed help. They thought it would be easy to take them down. That was until they actually tried. The attackers had sharp canines that came very close to their faces and only stilled when you attacked them with your machete.
When you revealed to them that they were vampires, they thought you were messing with them, but after you showed off their sharp fangs, they were convinced
They were silent as they walked you back to the cave, unsure what to make of it. They were shell shocked; creatures that they thought only existed in movies were real…?
Even more so, they were surprised at how unfazed you seemed. It made them wonder how long you had been doing this for. They didn’t recognise you, and you had refused to give them a name. Jason was going to ask Tim to run a search on the database later, though he wasn’t even sure if he would find anything.
Bruce wasn’t sure what to make of it. When the two vigilantes brought you into the cave after introducing themselves and explaining their work, Bruce was hesitant. He thought that this was some kind of joke. A prank by his two sons. You were adamant however, and showed him pictures on your cell and research papers online.
When you turned your cell back on, you were bombarded with dozens of miscalls and twice as many unread texts from both of your brothers and anyone else who they decided to contact about your disappearance. Shitttttt
Just as you were about to speak, a loud clatter sounded from across the batcave. All of the vigilantes in the room stood to attention and you reached for the gun holstered in your waistband. But as soon as you did so, you came face to face with eyes you knew very well.
“Dean?!” You gawped at him.
“Y/N? Oh thank god.” He pulled you close to him.
The vigilantes dropped their weapons slightly. “You know them?” Jason raised an eyebrow.
“My brothers.” You nodded. They must have managed to track the bus you got on.
“Jesus christ, Y/N. What the hell were you thinking?” Sam chided. “You could have gotten seriously hurt.”
“Relax, Sammy. I’m fine. I needed to get away from your bickering for once.”
Dick laughed from across the room “You can say that again.”
“What are you talking about?” Dean frowned.
“I mean you two are constantly arguing and I’m sick of it. I needed to get out on my own for a day or two. I was planning to come back tomorrow morning.”
“And you planned to stay here with these...people?”
“...not exactly.”
“Y/N.” Dean warned.
“They helped me.”
“You told them?!”
“Kind of hard not to when you’re being attacked by a group of blood thirsty vampires.”
“It’s true.” Jason said. “We didn’t believe her at first.”
“Sorry…”
“It’s alright.” Dean said. “We’re sorry it got so far that you felt you had to leave. All that matters is that you’re safe.”
Bruce decided to speak next, his interest peaked by your earlier statements. “So about those vampires…the other things are real too?”
Dean nodded. “Pretty much all of it.”
“Oh god. I have a feeling things are about to get a whole lot more interesting in Gotham.”

I think the most profane thing in all of this was the smugness of the studios. They're only just now admitting to the public that this is going to impact movie and TV schedules, and started by saying "may impact" even as recent as a week or two ago, while the older CEOs that already got out and ran in the past are now going, "No, this is about to turn into catastrophic collapse of the entire industry, if this drags on till christmas these businesses will not even have the money to order anything."
Even Zaslav is shifting uncomfortably now going, well, we need a resolution, all the projections (that we convinced investors and the stock market of) are based on September back to work date. And he said that Thursday, and they failed to come to an agreement Friday.
They have, at best, one more shot at this in the next few weeks, before that "September back to work" date of Zaslav disappears into the bullshit wormhole he's been pulling it out of.
Even *if* everyone got to work *tomorrow*, it still takes months to write, develop, put things through pre-prod. And the holidays are coming full of stop gaps. Things wouldn't even start filming till like, new years break ends. And then shows want a few buffer months of filming ahead, so you'd be looking at a Spring schedule at best. And that says nothing for piled up double bookings for creatives and actors, et al, pushing things out and out and out.
Like, let me use Supernatural for example. It used to run Sept-Apr or so, then eventually moved Oct-May. When a season ended in mid May, even before any official renewal, authors were passing around next season ideas, and had initial drafts by, say, late June of where they were going to go with arenas and assigning future writing assignments over the team. Then July and August are actually, you know, writing it and pushing it through other pre-production phases, including studios sticking their dicks in to bounce it back, and the network, and whatever else. That's why there's multiple drafts--Writer, Network, Production. Then by late August and into September they're filming, and in SPN's case, it was 8 days/episode. This varies per show, 6-10, but 8 is a good average anyway. Weekends aren't included, so you can generally get about 3 episodes in a month done, give or take. And they like to have about in the bag before air, for a plethora of reasons. So a late August filming > Sept > Early Oct is like 6-7 weeks filming for five episodes.
While minor details may change on different shows, this is a general rhythm to account on, and it's a show of good averages all around.
So with this in mind, the writers haven't written SHIT because STRIKE. So this entire quarter is bumped at least into next, and then filming into next year, and so on.
And they *might not even get back to work by SEPTEMBER*. Then comes holidays and-- you see the problem here. Even some top reality shows are sort of off the table due to their hosts being part of SAG. Reality stars are even muttering about unionizing and discontent with pay, production groups not covered are falling in under IATSE who is this close to joining the rave.
And all they had to do was agree to pay fairly months ago. But they thought people would give up, that people would accept rewashed fodder instead of losing subscribers, that they could snow investors with "free cash flow" from not ordering things, even knowing they were going to reduce ordering anyway because they were in the red from over-ordering to pad content libraries in streaming. So some +100M cash flow is actually real pitiful when it should have another zero behind it. They are feeling it, and realizing, they did a fucking dumb. Penny pinching their work crew is going to tumble several media empires at this rate, but they STILL didn't come to the table properly and for real last time.
Like they Do Not Get It. The unions aren't going to stop, or bend. The unions want double payrate, and mostly should get it, or at least real damn close. But they kept offering pennies as if they had empty coffers while raking in hundreds of millions for CEOs, and those CEOs are about to lose everything from their refusal to break from their greed.
The industry was already due for a content retraction, but the least they could do is say, yeah, sure, we'll pay the people we DO hire fairly.
A lot of authors and actors are going to find themselves struggling for work after this regardless, but it's the kind of job they've already been working other jobs around. So "starving them out" was never gonna work, the suits never got that. All they want is fair returns for when they DO get work. But companies are proving they'd rather commit suicide than do that. And now, they're panicking, realizing, maybe they shouldn't? But what do now while running out of money?
WB's current plan for example involves selling off a lot of its international and sports networks, but the irony is, that's the only thing keeping them floating, but they're reaching a point of no other choice. At this rate these studios are about to have to sell ALL their linear stations, bail from classic broadcast, and put everything into streaming. Otherwise, we're watching their slow fall.

So, the subject of 9/11 has been coming up in my life lately for some reason, and like everything I think about, it quickly got infused with my spn obsession.
Now I'm not American, and I wasn't even alive at the time, but Sam and Dean are and were. And it's the type of thing, where you remember exactly what you were doing when it happened, right? So, what where Sam and Dean doing?
It's 2001. This is the year that Sammy left for Stanford. Not only is it the year Sammy left for Stanford, but it's very, very soon after. The school year starts late august or early september. The Twin Towers crashed on the eleventh of september, so... not exactly early september, but not quite mid, either. Let's say Sammy's been gone about two/three weeks. Now, I figure John kept Dean around for one more case before he sent him away- couldn't look at him, only saw Mary, probably blamed the boy for Sammy leaving. Dean's walking around with this pit in his stomach, thinking he wasn't good enough to keep his family together and some mild panic about not being able to take care of Sam and some exsistential dread about who is he if he's not taking care of Sam. He's probably flirting too hard with all the girls in his cases, choosing the whiskey over the beer just a little too many times. Fingers hovering over the call button at any given time. This is the general state of Dean during this time.
Sam? He's just gotten out of the life. He's just promised himself he's never gonna hunt again, he misses his brother but he's more angry at him, for now. He hasn't made any friends yet, and it's starting to get to that time where his body feels he's been in one place for so long now that his dad is gonna come pick him up soon. He's antsy, but again, angry. Stubborn, smart. It's gonna take a long time for him to feel normal while staying in one place for more than three months at most. He's barely started adjusting to civillian life.
Now John. There's a journal entry for september eleventh. It says he suspects Supernatural interference with this, and he's been on the phone with other hunters all day. He's gonna head down to New York to take a look at things, and he's meeting up with people over there. No reference to Dean or Sam at all, nothing about being worried. The most emotional thing in the entry is the first sentence, "Shaken." .Honestly, it's more than I expected from him. The man has worse emotional regulation than Dean does, and that's saying something. He's still dealing with shoving down whatever form of hate or regret or pride come bubbling up when he thinks about Sam taking off, so he's not thinking about it.
I think he called Dean. I think it was a short conversation, full of "Yes, sir."'s from Dean's side and orders that looked like questions from John's. He says he called to get Dean's opinion of the Supernatural element of the crash, but Dean'll only say what John wants him to and somewhere, he knows it. He does not realise the reason he called Dean is to make sure Dean's alright, and he tries to distract himself from thoughts of Sam by keeping busy.
It's random Tuesday, and Sam probably signed up for some 8 o'clock class, so that would be what he was doing when the planes crashed. Of course, soon, the news got out, and classes got cancelled. Sam's head becomes chaotic, because of course this happens during his first few weeks, that's just his luck, and he's worried, about his dad but mostly about Dean. He calls Bobby, who's fine and tells him his dad's fine too, and Sam thanks him and hangs up, because he doesn't wanna waste the man's time. He and a bunch of other students are huddled around a tv, terrified. Ten AM, the first Tower collapses, and he has no idea what to do. He wants to help, but... what can he do? He wants to call Dean. He doesn't know what to do, he doesn't know what's going to happen. He's terrified. He spends the majority of the Eleventh huddled around that tv, with a bunch of other students he doesn't know as well as he could. It takes one, maybe two days for Sam to decide to get to New York, probably with some other students, so he can help. It's only about two hours away, and the impromptu medical skills he's gotten from patching up his dad and brother may not have helpedn anyone, but he can damn well help clean up.
Dean wakes up between five and six AM, has a beer, cleans his guns. He knows what's happening fairly early for someone who isn't in New York, because he checks the news, wether he's looking for a case or out of boredom or out of habit, and he kinda panics. He thinks, I don't know where dad is and I don't know if Sammy's safe I can't protect him and shit are we under attack what's gonna happen next and he kinda panicks. If he's already on a case, he kinda forgets about it. He stays in his motel room all day, following the news and thinking up worst case scenarios. His dad calls him, shortly, and he manages not to sound scared. His dad suspects demons did this or something, but he doesn't really care. At least he knows his dad's safe, and if he's feeling something about the fact that dad didn't ask him where he was or if he's okay, then he shoves it down and pretends it's not there. Eventually his worry wins out over whatever was stopping him from calling Sam, and he has to cough when Sam picks up because otherwise he might do something else. He can tell by Sammy's tone of voice that Sam's scared, and doesn't once bitch about Dean calling him. Just says he's safe and worried and still at Stanford, and that's good enough for Dean. Dean subcounsiously avoids New York and area for the next year or so, worried about something or other. No one he knows is dead, he should be happy.
Okay, wow. That got longer than I expected it to.

Healing After Heartbreak
Pairing: Jensen x Rowan Masters (OFC)
Mentions: Jared, Gen and the SPN cast, Rowan’s friends Chloe, Meg and Ava
Summary: After going through a nasty divorce that leaves Jensen heartbroken and alone will a chance encounter with a fan at Jibcon give him a new hope that he can find love again?
This my first attempt and writing a fanfic of any kind. All mistakes are mine. Any suggestions on approving my writing are welcomed. This will be a multi chapters fic . At this time I don't know how many yet.
Chapter One
Jensen’s point of view:
Jensen woke with a groan. Confusion etched on his freckled face. Why was someone pounding on his front door at this hour? “Wait?” he thought to himself. “What time is it anyhow?”. He stretched out his arm and picked up his phone from the nightstand to check the time. 4am! “What the hell!” he thought squinting at the screen. Sighing as he looked at his phones wallpaper. His three kids stared back at him, a pic from happier times; laughing on the beach. The last family vacation before the divorce. Now days he barely gets out of bed. He misses his kids and dog. She took everything he loved from him. He tried to fight back the tears that threaten to fall. Sniffing he went to lay his phone down when it started ringing in his hand.
The screen lit up with a pic of Jared smiling at him. Swiping the screen he answered “Hey Jared, this better be good it’s 4 in the morning.” “Dude get your ass down here and let me in. I’ve been pounding on your door for 20 minutes” came Jared’s reply. Jensen rolled his eyes as he stood up from the bed. Holding the phone with one hand Jensen used his free hand to hike his black boxers back up from where they were hang precariously low on his hips. “Yeesh, don’t your get boxers in a bunch I’m coming.” Jensen muttered into the phone. He can hear Jared sighing on the other end. “Are you even packed to go? You know we have to leave early to catch our flight.” Jared asked.
Jensen padded down the hall stopping briefly at the top of the stairs he tried to rack his brain about what Jared was talking about. He hurried down the steps towards to front door. He turned off the security system and unlocked the door, stepping back he pulled the door open. Jared rushed in and looked at Jensen. Upon seeing his best friend standing before him wearing only a pair of wrinkled boxers and sporting some serious bed head, Jared exclaimed “Dude why are you not dressed to go?” Puzzled Jensen just stood there staring at him. “What are you talking about? Where are we going, we don’t have a con to JIB on the 20th’’ Jared slapped his hand across his face. “Man have you looked at the date lately? Today is the 18th, we have to catch our flight to Rome this morning. Daniela needs us there earlier then normal this time.” Jensen looked stunned as he stared open mouthed at Jared. “No, it can’t be the 18th yet.” He doubled checked the date on his phone.”SHIT!” he exclaims. Turning on his heal Jensen bolts for the stairs hollering over his shoulder at Jared “How long do i have to get ready?” Jared tossed his head back and started laughing. “Don’t worry Jay, we have two hours before we have to be at the airport to catch our flight. I know your most likely forgot with the divorce being finalized last week, so I showed up way early to get your ass moving” Jensen stopped mid step and came back down the steps and slapped Jared across the back of his head. “Way to freak me out Jared!” Jensen exclaimed, then wrapped him in a quick hug mumbling “Thanks man, I’d be a total mess with out you”. Jared smiled and said “I know.” Turning away from Jared, Jensen made his way back up to his room to shower and pack.
Once back in his room he stripped of his boxers and tossed then towards the ever growing pile of dirty clothes in the corner. He then padded across the room to the master bathroom. Once inside he turned on the shower and let it warm up before stepping in. Standing in the shower lathering up his body he got lost in his thoughts. He knew he needed to get his act together and start acting like the grown ass man he is. He started making a mental list of stuff he needed to get done.
Stepping out of the shower he grabbed a towel and wiped off the water drops running down across his chest and arms before slinging it around his waist. He then saunters into his room pull open a drawer and grabbing a pair of boxer briefs out. He drops the towel on the pile of dirty clothes and slips them on moves to grab a pair of clean jeans and a t-shirt. He grabs the dirty clothes and starts a load of laundry while grabbing his go to backpack and sliver suitcase and started packing. By the time his laundry was washed and dried he was packed and ready to go. Once back down stairs he found Jared in the kitchen eating an apple from the fruit bowl on the island. “Hey you finally ready Jay” asks Jared. “Yep! I just want to grab some breakfast quick” replied Jensen. He turned and rummaged in the nearest cabinet and producing a granola bar. He then went to the fridge and pulled out a protein drink. After downing the food Jensen wiped his mouth with the back of is hand. Looking at his best friend he patted him on the shoulder and said “OK lets get going buddy, it’s going to be a long ass flight”
Once out of the house and Jensen’s bags were loaded in to Jared’s SUV it was a 30 minute ride to the airport. Upon arrival they got checked in and went through security showing their passports and boarding information to the lady at the gate. After finding their seats and stowing their carry on bags they got settled into their seats and buckled their lap belts.
Jensen let out a big sigh as he looked out the window. “What’s wrong bro” asked Jared. Sighing again Jensen turned towards Jared. “I’m worried about all the questions fans will be asking about the divorce.” Jared reached over and gave Jensen’s hand a squeeze and reassured him by saying “Don’t worry Jay, I got your back man, we all do. Rob, Rich and everyone else is there for you. We will make a announcement before we start addressing the fact that you will not be answering any question regarding your personal life.” “Not everyone has my back.” Jensen says with a sigh before continuing “You know Misha took her side and hates me. We both know he will make digs towards me every chance he can while there. He loves trying to make me out to be the bad guy.” Jared patted his arm as the plane taxied down the runway for takeoff. Once in the air the guys reclined their seats and settled in for the long flight ahead. Both drifting off about thirty minutes into the flight.
Mean While In Rome
Rowan’s Point of View:
The small cafe was still busy with the lunch rush when Rowan and her friends arrived. They were laughing and giggling as they walked up to the door. With a sigh Rowan looked around at her friends. Their two week European vacation was almost over. This was going to be their last weekend of fun, clubbing and living it up before heading back to the states. Even though they were all were pushing 40 they where still young and carefree at heart. Next week they would be back at home in Texas at their boring 9 to 5 jobs.
Meg lead the way in the door, a small sliver bell tinkled above their heads as the entered. A young woman wearing a black apron greats them, “Hello, I’m Gloria how may I help you ladies this afternoon?” “Hello my friend's and I would like a table please.” answered Meg with a bright smile. “Sure just follow me.” Gloria lead them through the cafe to a table by one of the beautiful windows. “How’s this ladies” asked Gloria. Rowan looks at her “It’s perfect, thank you.” “Sure, no problem.” She hands each of them a menu and asks if she can get them anything to drink. They decide on ice teas for all.
As the waitress walked away Rowan cleared her throat. “So what do you guys want to do for our last weekend in Rome?” Chloe looked at the other two and giggled. Rowan gave her a suspicious look “Oh god what do you three have cooked up? How drunk are you going to get me?” Ava’s eyes smiled with mischief as Chloe pulled a manila envelope from her bag. Giggling she told Rowan “Oh we are not getting drunk. We are gonna want to remember this weekend for the rest of our lives.” “Oh god what did you do Chloe!?” exclaimed Rowan. Her friend handed her the envelope “Just open it, this is going to be so much fun!” Taking it from her out stretched hand, Rowan took a deep breath before opening it. She reached in and pulled out four identical plastic bags. Each one hand one of their names on. She grabbed the one with her name scrawled across it in black marker. She opened up the bag and pulled out the top item, a lanyard with a plastic card hanging on it. Turning it in her hands Rowan read what the card said. “OMG!” she squealed. “You got us tickets to Jibcon? No way!” she exclaimed. Giggling, Meg told Rowan “Check out the other tickets in your bag’’ Rowan dumped out the rest of the contents of her bag onto the table in front of her. She grabbed the packet that had Photo ops written on it. Ripping it open she pulled them out and started reading off the names printed on them. “Lets see, we have Richard Speight Jr., Rob Benedict, Briana Buckmaster, Ruth Connell, Kim Rhodes, and Alexander Calvert.” Looking down she realized she dropped some. “Whoops dropped some” she said with a giggle. She looked at the names on the last few and went wide eyed. “OMFG!!!! you got me ops with Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles!!!!” “Yep!” beamed her friends. “We have ops with them as well.’’ replied Chloe. Meg cleared her throat and looked at Rowan. “We know how messed up you’ve been since Nate cheated on you with Becky from accounting. He really broke your heart. This is our small way, besides this trip to get you out of your funk.” “Yeah, we don't like to seeing you so sad.” added Ava. Chloe reached over and took Rowan’s hand in hers and gave it a squeeze. “We all love you and want you to be happy again. Maybe you’ll meet someone while we are over here. Maybe even at Jibcon. Who knows? Right?’’ Rowan sighed and looked at her friends with tears in her eyes. “Thank you ladies so much! I don’t know what I’d do without you all. This surprise is just what I need to break be out of my funk. I really do need to move on,its been six months of heartache and tears.” She raised her glass and proclaimed “To JIBCon and a weekend we will never forget!” They clicked their glasses together before taking a drink.
Just then Gloria approached their table “So ladies are you ready to order?’’ she asked with a smile. They placed their orders quickly and as the waitress walk towards the kitchen they began talking excitedly. Rowan looked at her friends. “If I’m meeting Jensen and Jared in two days we need to go shopping! I need to find something special to wear.” “Oh defiantly” agreed Ava. After finishing their lunch and paying their bill the four friends headed out to shop for the perfect outfits for what was going to be a weekend that none of them would ever forget.

hi i'm obsessed with the way you do spn fanart. it reminds me of (what i know from, i wasn't there lol) the wincest fandom from the early 2010s where there was a lot of grimey gothic horror type art and fic especially sam-centric stuff. <333333
aww man you have totally made my day (and week (and month))!! ❤️❤️❤️ thank you so so much!
i actually didn't start watching spn until the mid 10s myself, and didn't engage with the fandom until a few years after that. but i was in other online art and writing spaces in that time and i definitely know what you mean. and i kind of miss that gritty, gothic era sometimes, so i'm glad to know i'm doing some small part to keep the spirit alive heh
i cut my teeth on classic pulp horror and sci-fi art (and stories), but funnily enough i fought my style for a long, long time. i thought i should be doing more realistic, painterly stuff or more elegant illustration work like you see showcased more often. but i've finally learned to embrace it, i think. i'm always gonna go back to my goth/indie comic/pulp magazine cover roots in the end, so it makes me so damn happy to hear that you like it ❤️
and sam, man. i'm infected. i thought i would have worked through my character obsession with him by now, but i just can't get away from it. i'm not even trying. he deserves all the raw, grimy, gothic-heroine content in the world and i myself am willing to serve 🫡

oh lol, I finished watching HB like last week, but i haven't dipped into fandom yet so i didn't realize this comparison was something being done elsewhere as well! Mostly im rewatching the episodes. Honestly to me, the comparison is a bit superficial and has more in common with earlier/mid-season canon trope buckets and how the characters are written in AU fics, rather than how they are like in later seasons of SPN. (the DeanCas dynamic shifted a lot over 12 yrs imo!)
Most superficial thing - the Stolas-Cas owl /headtilt connection. 🦉😂 But Stolas is also a deeply lonely but repressed and dutiful member of a provileged higher class / 'better' group of beings, where he never quite fit in despite being well-placed. It was a meeting with Blitz that put his entire life into a different trajectory, where he finally started to feel things and question his previous life, and ended up forsaking that old perfect life for associating with a guy from a 'lower' class of beings, that he faces derision from his peers for. He is naive to the ways of the world, but willing to learn, even as he is often quite unintentionally derogatory about imps. (this often happened with early Cas) He also has a strong love for his child and a strong connection to the identity of being a father, even though that journey is rocky. He seems to have grown up alone and yet part of a innumerable nameless horde of siblings with a largely absent father, and it is later revealed that the fascination of Blitz and his doubts and unhappiness actually predates the supposedly "first" meeting when they started associating.
The relationship in the beginning is transactional (though in very different ways for both ships), but slowly and surely evolves beyond that. Stolas, despite being much for powerful in supernatural ways, Blitz's is often the one taking the lead and Stolas let's him. Even as Blitz secretely actually thinks Stolas is completely out-of-his-league and is just putting up with him, because he's the toxic guy who everyone leaves if they have a choice and only puts up with if they have to. Then there's the growing up in a nomadic lifestyle with a not-so-great dad, and dead mom in a fire! Right now you could consider the Barbie Wire and Blitz relationship in the Stanford-era!Sam and Dean zone, but clearly Blitz has very strong feelings about his sibling with whom he was close growing up.
lol I was in the tags 5 minutes after the last episode, looking for fanart to reblog. If you want to dip your toes in, I recommend blocking some tags, because the fandom and ship tags are full of antis who need to go watch a different show because they really hate this one and I don't understand why they're still here? Go touch grass, folks. But at least they're pretty good at tagging their hate. I've blocked "anti stolitz", "stolitz critical", "anti vivziepop", and "vivziepop critical" and that seems to have caught most of it.
Thanks for coming back with an explanation! That's way better than the posts I'd seen about it, and I think you're right about the parallels. I think my mental block on it comes from the fact that I ship them for different reasons.
Dean and Cas are reluctant allies at first who become close friends, and there are things keeping them from moving past that. They're always dealing with world ending events that take priority over their own personal drama, and they both fundamentally misunderstand each other's love languages and think things are one sided. I ship them in a star crossed lovers kinda way.
Blitz and Stolas are interesting to me specifically because it started out as a fucked up bargain where Stolas was using Blitz for kinky sex, and Blitz was Not Into It. The power imbalance and dubcon was HOT. And when I found out that Stolas was married too, I was like aw yeah, this guy's a bag of dicks, and he's shoving them into all of Blitz' holes.
Delicious toxicity mmmm.... And then...AND THEN...it's slowly revealed that they both want something more, and Stolas only made the deal because he thought that was the only way he could get Blitz to come back. And it didn't even occur to Blitz that Stolas could feel anything for him because of their class differences.
In the episode that ends with Blitz going "he can get hurt?" with shock and confusion, omg I about fell off the couch. Because on the surface he's talking about physical injuries, but in subtext he's talking about Stolas getting his feelings hurt too. *chef's kiss* ugh it's so fucking good.
Come to think of it, you could make that another Destiel parallel, since Dean doesn't think Cas is capable of feeling romantic love. Now that you've given me a few points of entry, I'm going to start connecting dots all over the place lol

Introducing; the girls!
Tumblr media
Olivia (top left), Jules (top right), Alexi (bottom left), and Alyssa (bottom right).
They are my four major OCs. Olivia is for X-Men (and basically whatever other crazy AU I create bc I am mentally ill) Alexi is a Bully/GTA OC, Jules is my Gorillaz OC, and Alyssa is my major comfort OC - and oldest - being for Devil May Cry, My Babysitter's a Vampire, and Supernatural.
For anyone who doesn't know these lovely ladies, here's the basic rundown of each leading woman:
Alyssa Redgrave, being the oldest and most updated OC I have, is Dante's daughter. Her age often spans from fourteen up to mid-twenties. She's a nephilim in the same vain as DMC: Devil May Cry Dante and Vergil, and even has the same sort of shit attitude as him, as she was based off of him. She's half devil and half archangel and in the SPN storyline, she's very close to Gabriel and Castiel as they are her family. Lucifer is consistently trying to convince her to "let go" because she's still very terrified of her demon half, thus giving her a consistent moral dilemma of whether to follow in Dante's footsteps or take her own path. She's also extremely traumatized due to the horrors she's faced ever since she was a child.
Juliette "Jules" Tusspot is 2-D's little sister. She's a rhythm guitarist for the band and has a very, VERY complicated relationship with Murdoc. She's the second oldest OC I have and is one who's changed the most over the years. Initially she was just an outlier in the story, but she has since taken up her own storyline as not only a musician but also a mother, being the only OC I have who canonically has a child. She's also the kindest out of the girls, making her very likely to be the most pleasant to be around.
Alexi Castillo Torres is the second youngest, her story starting from the age of fifteen and going up into her twenties and thirties. She's obsessed with Tiffany Valentine and actively tries to look like her. She's Colombian and is the daughter of an infamous criminal who sent her to Bullworth Academy solely to keep her safe. After graduation, she moves to Los Santos and begins a life of crime where she becomes a dangerous and powerful crime boss.
Olivia Hope Howlett is a much more recent OC. Created for X-Men, her story takes place within three different fandoms primarily (at least for her canon storyline); X-Men, Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2, and Heroes NBC. She's a former outlaw who had suffered from amnesia and was close with Arthur, so much so that she viewed him as her older brother and protector. She was also in love with Javier Escuella and the two even got married in the early 1900's after she freed him from execution. She has witnessed everyone around her die and suffers from immense trauma from it, and after promise from William Stryker that her memories would be erased she joined the Weapon X program. However, something went horribly wrong and she became the first "business mistake" for the program as she ended up murdering everyone who got too close to her due to her feral rage (essentially Logan's bezerker rage) being untamed and extremely dangerous. After this, she lives as a drifter for a long time before settling down in New York and beginning to work as a waitress. She meets Peter Petrelli and they form a very close relationship, one that Olivia is scared of because everyone she loves dies. Liv's entire storyline is one of the more fleshed out and intense storylines of all four of the characters and much like Logan, she suffers from extreme and intense trauma and has an equally bad attitude.

supernatural s1e1 pilot (w. eric kripke)
because my brain is jacked up, i'm weirdly anxious about rewatching the show even though that's been The Plan for months. i watched 15x20 a week (plus) ago and every time i think about starting over at the pilot and writing them up proper like i did around s4-5 onward, my chest kind of clenches up and i look for literally anything else to do. i am worried about having feelings that i'm not prepared to deal with. which is fucking ridiculous.
hold onto your butts, this is gonna be a long fucking post
i've mentioned before that babies in peril is my number 1 hard stop on media -- i stopped watching killing eve mid-episode because of one and never went back to it (i intended to but never happened, brain weasels make everything hard.) so i know the very first time i tried to watch spn (several years ago) i almost turned it off because of little baby sam. that first attempt at watching i wasn't actually fully paying attention, i had it on while i was doing other things and so i missed all the character stuff and only saw it as kind of a mid horror schlocky situation so i never finished the first season back then. when i gave it another go in early 2023, i was giving it my full attention.
Tumblr media
one thing this show always got? the cutest, happiest, sweetest babies. 10/10 would recommend

already freaking out how young everyone is and happy clean shaven john is extra wild
demon growl sound effect / padalecki's accent & jerk bitch moment
hey, it's the first instance of the demon growl noise when mary's burning on the ceiling! ooh i'm gonna be even more insufferable about the musical score and sound effects now that i'm listening for it from the jump
also i have called padalecki's accent/speech pattern the crispy r based on some tiktok i heard describing it that way - i associate it with california (but these clips are almost the opposite where the R is getting almost eliminated but not in the boston accent way), and i'd say maybe it was a choice but i think he spoke this way in gilmore girls too? but anyway, his Rs are just very different and it's a very particular and kind of subtle accent that definitely doesn't carry through the entire series ("bear it" in the second clip, the "sorry" in the third). i mentioned it when they had a clip of a moment from 1x10 as well in the pre-ep recap for 5x09
really well done and effective effects on that fire in the nursery

so this picture made it out of the lawrence fire (it was on mary's nightstand) but not the stanford one? i don't recall it being in the collection
i never really understood where sam was supposed to be timeline-wise in college, other than he must not have graduated because it was october? so there's me googling when you take the LSAT. so he could have (assuming it hasn't changed that much since 2005) taken it in june or october of the calendar year before he graduated. all right so that makes sense now that i think about it for more than 30 seconds. so he didn't finish his last year really of his bachelor's. and he's 22. i think in that alex irvine john winchester diary novel thing (don't think that that's considered canon but that's a whole other can of worms), it said sam graduated high school at 19 instead of 18 so i think that would make things line up (someone made a timeline that also includes everything in that novel but the post is loudly wncest dni so i won't link it). i do know it was just a mistake that the pilot said sam had been gone 2 years.
the ever useful canon discrepancies article at superwiki:
One of the most frequently debated potential canon discrepancies. Here are the facts: - In the 1.01 Pilot, Sam is about to be interviewed for law school, which could work on the assumption that he's just about to finish a bachelor degree (4 years). Dean also says that he hasn't spoken to Sam in "nearly two years." - In 1.03 Dead in the Water, Dean tells Sam that he spent "Every day for two years with Dad, while you were going to pep rallies." - In 1.07 Hook Man, Dean says "So this is how you spent four good years of your life, huh?" when they are researching in the library. - The original promo dates Mary's death to September 13, 1985, consistent with Sam being twenty and having been at Stanford for two years but out of step with everything else in the series. Eric Kripke acknowledged during a panel at the 2006 William S. Paley Television Festival that they made a mistake in the script -- initially Sam was meant to be 20, then they aged him up to 22, but neglected to change Dean's line from "two years" to "four years." Therefore, it may have been the creators' intention that Sam has been at college for four years.
this is gonna take me approximately forever to rewatch episodes 🤪
Tumblr media Tumblr media
keeping my eye out for hands for drawing. have a general idea of getting something early seasons to go in the set with the 15x20 hands.
SAM Yeah? When I told Dad I was scared of the thing in my closet, he gave me a .45. DEAN Well, what was he supposed to do? SAM I was nine years old! He was supposed to say, don't be afraid of the dark.
classic john
SAM Yeah, I know, but still. The way we grew up, after Mom was killed, and Dad's obsession to find the thing that killed her. SAM But we still haven't found the damn thing. So we kill everything we can find. DEAN We save a lot of people doing it, too.
one thing i'm thinking about is how i definitely was under the impression that they really didn't know any other hunters until they start getting mentioned here and there (dropping bits of backstory about working jobs with xyz while sam was at school etc), and that they barely knew anything about demons. so i'm curious to see how much of that is me misremembering
SAM You think Mom would have wanted this for us? The weapon training, and melting the silver into bullets? Man, Dean, we were raised like warriors. DEAN So what are you gonna do? You're just gonna live some normal, apple pie life? Is that it? SAM No. Not normal. Safe. DEAN And that's why you ran away. SAM I was just going to college. It was Dad who said if I was gonna go I should stay gone. And that's what I'm doing.
classic john x2. i know it's the pilot, i know they're bombing us with backstory like they need to, but i'm just like. everything about this ends up being pretty essential to understanding them and how they were raised it's so much 😩
Tumblr media Tumblr media
DEAN I can't do this alone. SAM Yes you can. DEAN Yeah, well, I don't want to.
excuse me while my heart breaks into little bits. i knew that line in 15x20 was a callback to this, and it was heartbreaking then too. well actually it makes feel slightly ill rereading that scene from the finale. too emotionally invested
DEAN It started happening more and more, so Dad went to go dig around. That was about three weeks ago. I hadn't heard from him since, which is bad enough. DEAN Then I get this voicemail yesterday. He presses play. The recording is staticky and the signal was clearly breaking up. JOHN Dean...something big is starting to happen...I need to try and figure out what's going on. It may... Be very careful, Dean. We're all in danger.
so he coulda like. told dean he was ditching him for his safety in this sketchy vague voicemail, but then of course we wouldn't have them chasing him down with quite the same mystery. it's just kind of comical.
like this post puts it:
spn season 1 is so funny. they made the main plot line finding sam and dean’s missing father. but like. the guys not missing. he’s just avoiding them.
i'm sure (i hope???) every rewatch post isn't going to turn into a dissertation like this. good grief
hey. i was gonna mention that music was quite inoffensive and not bad at all and was about give old jay a pat on the back, but no! it's christopher lennertz lol. my ear always knows. so that's the originator of the demon growl sound
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SAM It's the greatest hits of mullet rock. DEAN Well, house rules, Sammy. Driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cakehole. SAM You know, Sammy is a chubby twelve-year-old. SAM It's Sam, okay?
i mean so many classic interactions i can't handle it. also, real shame netflix didn't/wouldn't get the licensing for the music originally aired. i have the blurays but i'm down a functional bluray player so here i am, watching on netflix with shitty replacement music yet again. that scene should have had ramblin man and back in black. travesty. back when they splashed out for the good licensed music (and i usually was on board with lennertz's selections)
the comment about them being a little young for federal marshals (also in their kinda scruffy clothes lol) and wikipedia says:
Marshals Service hiring is competitive and comparable to the selection process for Special Agent positions in agencies with similar duties. Typically fewer than five percent of qualified applicants are hired [citation needed] and must possess at a minimum a four-year bachelor's degree or competitive work experience (which is usually three or more years at a local or state police department).
so i mean, sounds like it's doable! barely. (i'm not even halfway through the episode lol)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
stepping on dean's foot, smacking sam's head. very good sibling stuff
Tumblr media
meanwhile we're gonna pop jackles in some bomb ass golden hour lighting so we can get his pretty, pretty face looking even prettier. lighting doesn't match any other part of the scene, but if you can get them lit up in it, we're using it!
SHERIFF Can I help you boys? DEAN No, sir, we were just leaving. As the FBI AGENTS walk past DEAN, he nods at each of them. DEAN Agent Mulder. Agent Scully.
respect to the og (that was the show of my youth and my forever otp and also my first impression of sam and dean's relationship was mid-run mulder and scully)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
s1e1 r.d. call as sheriff pierce / the x-files s1e18 as sheriff daniels
oh! and this sheriff was a sheriff in an xfiles episode, that's even better! that's brilliant. love to see it
Tumblr media
those jeans and before dean had his signature logger boots which i didn't apparently really notice until s6
DEAN Yeah, Troy told us about you. We're his uncles. I'm Dean, this is Sammy.
uncles??? lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media
another thing i remember really liking is these random girls aren't like.. tv pretty makeup. they're just random gothy girls with stark harsh eye makeup and lipstick and matte heavier foundation. like real people do! it just makes it feel more grounded in reality to me when not everyone's makeup is tv-perfect
Tumblr media
y'all. look at this! so i have talked a lot about the computer stuff, whenever there's a screen (in any show i'm watching) i'll pause and check out the veracity. teen wolf had laughably fake web page mockups. and one thing i do recall noticing in this episode was real webpage urls! and even in the printouts which comes later. which they did not do consistently in spn seasons after this at all until much later
Tumblr media Tumblr media
classic. truly. more smacks and shoves. it's okay, sammy. i also am a little bit of a control freak especially when it comes to computer stuff. JUST LET ME DO IT.
DEAN Monday. Right. The interview. SAM Yeah. DEAN Yeah, I forgot. You're really serious about this, aren't you? You think you're just going to become some lawyer? Marry your girl? SAM Maybe. Why not? DEAN Does Jessica know the truth about you? I mean, does she know about the things you've done? SAM No, and she's not ever going to know. DEAN Well, that's healthy. You can pretend all you want, Sammy. But sooner or later you're going to have to face up to who you really are.
dean's got a point there. which reminds me, did blurry wife know the truth? i remember there was some blurb about the story behind sam's kid having the anti-possession tattoo
wiki to the rescue
Though Sam's son has an anti-possession tattoo on his arm, there are no other signs of hunting in Sam's life after he leaves the Bunker. Jared confirmed at the November StageIt panel that Sam has not been hunting "in honor of Dean" because Dean wouldn't have wanted him to, but that Sam did tell his son about hunting and about his Uncle Dean, and that the decision to get the tattoo was Dean II's.
so probably yes?
Tumblr media
(hands)
SAM And who's that? DEAN You're one of us. SAM No. I'm not like you. This is not going to be my life. DEAN You have a responsibility to— SAM To Dad? And his crusade? If it weren't for pictures I wouldn't even know what Mom looks like. And what difference would it make? Even if we do find the thing that killed her, Mom's gone. And she isn't coming back.
oh, sam. these early days he was chafing so hard against what other people wanted him to do. also relatable. and if only we knew about mary🥴
Tumblr media Tumblr media
sam enjoying dean's predicament
SAM Salt, cat's eye shells…he was worried. Trying to keep something from coming in.
cat's eye shells?? don't think that ever got mentioned again
Tumblr media
LOL okay, so the url isn't perfect 😂 missing forward slashes and no underscores in domain names, but they tried!!
Tumblr media
huh. another family picture i don't recall seeing again. kind of backwards, longer brown hair on supposedly dean and short lighter hair on supposedly sam
so did dean grab john's leather jacket at this point? since he showered and changed in john's motel room. i hadn't thought about that. huh
SAM You can't kill me. I'm not unfaithful. I've never been! CONSTANCE You will be. Just hold me.
i know this comes up in fic periodically but i don't think that went anywhere, like the cat's eye shells
LOL i didn't remember that the woman in white resolution was her ghostly murdered children conveniently take her out
Tumblr media
DEAN Hey, if we shag ass we could make it by morning. SAM Dean, I, um... DEAN You're not going. SAM The interview's in like, ten hours. I gotta be there. DEAN Yeah. Yeah, whatever. I'll take you home.
there's so many moments in this episode that i've seen in gifs and didn't realize were all from the pilot. but it's really interesting to me to see how like.. the show really kind of pushed how much dean needed/wanted sam and sam was resisting, and how i think it really set up dean as the more "likeable" character initially, along with showing off his pretty face and charm and all that. on a brain-characterization level, i always relate more to sam but i was definitely charmed by dean initially.
SAM Call me if you find him? SAM And maybe I can meet up with you later, huh? DEAN Yeah, all right. DEAN Sam? DEAN You know, we made a hell of a team back there. SAM Yeah.
the only thing that i think makes this episode not quite paced right is how they crammed jess dying at the end and the we've got work to do thing. it felt really rushed and slapped on. but other than that, what a great pilot. ranks up there with the hannibal pilot

I'm a fandom old.
I just left this comment on a Reddit post. Thought I'd drop it here. Just to have extra access to it.
I've been around the block in fandom. There's always been holier-than-thou types, but they were... tamer.
I started on the peripheries of fandom in the late 90s, and then I was in a fandom that didn't have fanworks. I got involved, fully, properly, at 18 years old, in 2000, in the Due South fandom. I have the very distinct honour of being the reason a separate mailing list, "Due South After Dark", had to be created. I wrote a fic that involved either handcuffs or a blindfold. Some people were SO OFFENDED by this tiny bit of mild kink that it caused an uproar.
But it was kind of just pearl clutching. I wasn't called a monster or suicide baited or anything like that. In fact, a lot of the offended parties didn't even talk directly to me, just around me and about the fic itself.
And that's the flavour that sort of stuck with a lot of fandom drama for years. The shipping wars of the early 2000s were shockingly tame, and there was also a lot of--to use an antiquated term--wank about slash shippers; the first time I saw the "fetishisation" accusations dating back all the way to the early/mid 2000s.
I do remember that there was a small contingent of Harry/Hermione shippers who accused Hermione/Ron shippers of liking "abuse" because Hermione and Ron bickered (not unlike Han and Leia or Elizabeth and Darcy). One of the big things is that a lot of this was not actually targeted. It was people pontificating on their LiveJournals without calling out anyone by name. Not that there wasn't a lot of arguments In the Comments(tm) and whatnot.
The first time I ever saw the term "SJW" was actually in fandom, some years before I started seeing it in "mainstream" online discourse. It was in the late 2000s, and it was used by left-leaning fanpeople against other left-leaning fanpeople. Right or wrong, it was a term levied against a certain type of, and I'm not going to beat around the bush, middle-class white woman in her late 20s and older. To be clear: fandom, especially when involving middle-class white women, has long had problems with racism, misogyny, homophobia, etc. But this specific type of fan, the "SJW" type, held to their convictions so hard they would drive people out of fandom. This is when things started to get targeted. When individual fans would get called out not for behaviour (eg, MsScribe, Victoria Bitter) but for what they made. For their fic. One young person who wrote a thoroughly misguided SPN AU (I don't remember if it was RPF or FPF--she wrote the characters as aid workers in maybe Haiti?) was driven out of fandom over that one fic; there was no atoning for it. There was no ability to learn why she shouldn't have written it. She was just a monster.
I can see these threads all converging and leading to, for instance, the Voltron: Legendary Defender shipping nonsense and the demonisation of one pairing over the other on moral grounds. I can see it coming from the Due South ladies who were offended by handcuffs and/or a blindfold, from the Harry/Hermione shippers saying that Hermione/Ron shippers were okay with abuse, from the specific callouts by white women towards people who wrote things unthinkingly and out of ignorance without having the opportunity to make amends for their grievous misdeeds in fic.
I can see how it leads to this thing, where we have people telling folks to kill themselves because they like a pairing with a 5-year age gap. Saying it's immoral to ship two characters because one of them is "autistic-coded" and therefore a child even though the character is in their 20s, it doesn't matter, that's pedophilia somehow (hey, Critical Role fans). Painting people as monsters because of a video game where the main characters commit murder and cannibalism and incest and it's not the first two things that are a problem.
The antis make everyone out to just be monsters, even the people who don't even like the taboo and dark fics, they just don't believe in censorship, harassment, suicide baiting, etc, over fucking fanfic. It's become "with us or against us". It's... terrifying. Especially because it's targeted against oftentimes vulnerable people who don't have, say, studios and publishers and tons of money to keep them safe. They go after, y'know, AstarionsGirl292 and not George R R fucking Martin. Well, I think they went after Tamsyn Muir? But she ain't GRRM, is she?
It's a helpless feeling, seeing fandom get to this point. But I can untangle it. And it sucks.

hey. what were lenny and chorby like in the expansion era. ily.
PROLONGED SIGHING. OKAY. i'm going to try to do this as quickly as i can because i do want to write some of this one day
also let me just head this off at the pass, because i get this a lot. we are talking about eleanor "lenny" marijuana, youngest sister to dom and randy, and chorby short, a mostly-human magical girl. if you want to talk about dad lenny and chorby soul, have fun, but that's not what this post is about and you shouldn't do it here. ok so
lenny/chorby meet as teens in the garages shadows and become very very close friends with romantic undertones
before they can act on this chorby is pulled out of the shadows, and then lenny makes some mistakes and then is also pulled out of the shadows
towards the end of the discipline era they reconcile and begin a relationship. they're both early 20s at this point but that blaseball slow-aging has started to hit them
if you don't know what i'm talking about i have a convenient 27k fic that you can read that explains it in a liiiiittle more detail
and then the grand siesta, a very long time to be normal 20-somethings in love! they have a good time i think it's good for them. maybe they get married maybe they don't. either way this is like, the golden days, bc they have enough time to spend with each other AND on their own AND with other friends.
also they're on the same coffee cup team which is cute
at the end of s14 chorby gets precog and freaks the fuck out and will Not tell lenny what she saw
lenny is currently dealing with chorby soul being resurrected, and the fact that this dude knew her brother, AND her girlfriend's being weird? it's neither of their finest moments that's for sure like they're not very good at communicating and being in a relationship. this is the first real rough patch they've had in a while
in mid-early s15 chorby gets redacted. this is bad obviously
i'm going to put the readmore here because in case you can't tell this is about to get long
so suddenly lenny is alone, her girlfriend is in the fucking void, her brother's best friend (ex? maybe??) is fucking sharkbait and she gets attacked too, and she's just having a bad time
and i think it's also around this time lenny has an epiphany of like. despite her best efforts, her whole life really has been blaseball. it was either defined by the shadows, by active play, or by people she knew because of this sport. she does not have friends outside of this. she doesn't have a job. she doesn't even really have a hobby
chorby is unstabilized bc of a plunder gone wrong (very stressful for lenny) and then pops up on the mills shadows, which is hard because lenny is still pitching at some garages games and can't visit her
also like this is getting in a little deep but: this is when we have foreshadow wills and fax machines and the apple. so the discipline era style "you forget them if they're in the shadows" is slowly becoming a nonfactor. but i also think that for lenny it is also deeply traumatizing in some ways for chorby to be in another team's shadows without her, in this place that lenny deeply associates with "somewhere i can't go"
also, chorby is an attractor, and doesn't have a soul. my interp of this is very much the spn soulless sam thing of like it's her but something's Wrong. like it's her but she's emptier, doesn't react as much to things, doesn't want to talk to people. her but she's changed and can't say why.
in particular: lenny tries to visit and chorby just. doesn't care. and i think that's hard! lenny has spent a year and a goddamn half in panic mode and chorby comes back and just. doesn't care
if you saw my solo zine/lyric comic about lenny - this is about where in the timeline i'd place the bits about chorby. lenny is trying so hard to reach out and be there and be present and it's just not clicking. for the first time in literal decades there is a substantial and insurmountable separation
and THEN. the icing on the fucking cake. the same time that chorby comes out of the mills shadows, lenny who has spent the last thirty-something years of her life in seattle............ is traded to hades
ABSOLUTELY DESPICABLE
however!! this is a major turning point! (this is also like, if i were going to write a fic about anything in this post it's this year in hades.)
because like. the tigers are pretty serious and lenny gets to hades and is like can you guys lighten up. can we have some parties. can we have some fun. and in that way she's very good for the tigers
BUT ALSO!! the tigers are able to look at this young woman who has lost a lot, who's in the process of losing a lot (in the background of all of this goodwin is slowly accumulating ego) and they're like. hey. aren't you angry? don't you want to be fucking angry?
this is also when the tigers get fire blood and this all manifests as lenny finally being able to acknowledge that everything that happened to her - and that's still happening to her! - is painful, and it hurts, and she's upset and so fucking angry. and she's trapped in this game that doesn't care about her and that hurts her and she doesn't know how to have a life outside of it but now she's in hades, where the shadows have built a community, where there are charities in the name of landry violence, and she can start thinking
so lenny goes back to seattle, and she's faxed into the shadows pretty shortly thereafter. (i think mike also is? not sure.) and this time she's pretty confident like. this is it. this is where she's going to be.
and i think if it weren't for that year in hades, lenny would move to boston and stay with chorby. lenny would want to take care of her, or at the very least be close. but instead she calls chorby and says. do you want me here. and chorby says no
obviously i have a lenny bias but like chorby has also just spent a year, unstable, pitching for the mills, and then she goes to the flowers, and both of these are very very different environments from the magic! it's hard! it's hard and she's still not entirely with it and she's still not entirely herself and that makes it harder
(at this point i'm going to point the general reader towards blink's fic plant matter (cw for plant body horror) - this is something we've discussed a lot with the tldr being that the garden tries to grow into and out of soulless chorby and about the very beginning of chorby's recovery)
so after lenny very angrily giving chorby a lot of distance, and well after chorby pushing her away out of precognition-induced panic, around the middle of s18 lenny reaches out and is like. i'm in the shadows and i'm going to stay in seattle. and chorby agrees it's for the best and it's weird and hard but it's also good for them both, right now
i've written a little about this on lenny's wiki page (which doesn't 100% align with my thoughts but it's a good vibe check): assuming that blaseball pays a decent salary to the people in the shadows, lenny has a lot of free time, and so the way she spends that is volunteering. as much as she can, as many local seattle organizations as she can, because she wants to know and understand the city outside of the context of blaseball
(also because around now is when goodwin gets for real vaulted and, as you can see in the goodwin page i wrote, i think goodwin also did a lot of community and volunteer stuff, and growing up with her lenny has some familiarity and connections with that world but this is the first time she goes off on her own)
lenny eventually gets her first non-blaseball job working for a nonprofit and has her own life and social network (and still friends in blaseball, i think she and sparks became very very close and it was devastating when they died) and like. that was it! she wasn't gonna pitch again and so she might as well have a real life
meanwhile chorby is similarly trying to establish a life - this is around when soul patches become a thing, so chorby gets some soul back, starts reconnecting with herself and her various teams, is still very much prioritizing herself but is also connecting with other people
so around now. like s21 ish? like, a couple years after chorby has her soul back and lenny has a life. chorby reaches out to lenny and is like. i miss you and i want to figure out something. and lenny says. i'm not gonna move to boston or new york or wherever you are today. and chorby says. good! i think this will be good for us
it's like reconnecting with a childhood friend and also reconnecting with an ex and it's weird, because lenny and chorby haven't... not known each other, i guess, in a very long time. but this is a lenny who has a Business Voice when she answers phone calls and this is a chorby with dirt under her fingernails who speaks softly, and it's like two new people
but they reconnect! they do! it's bumpy and it's difficult but they're able to forge a relationship again
this is where i'm of two minds
the first is. it works! it's good! these are two adults (even with slow blaseball aging, they're now right around 30, they're older and more mature and able to understand each other) and they can enter a romantic relationship again.
the second - and i think this is a little more likely - is that it... sort of works. but it works in a "we'll go on dates when we're in the same city" way. it works in a "i'll spend some of my offseasons with you but not all of them" way. it works in a "nobody blinks when they say they're dating and nobody blinks when they say they're not" way. i think they're mostly capable of being friends and sometimes capable of dating. and, frankly, sometimes neither! it comes and it goes.
i've just hit a character limit for that bullet point section, which i didn't even know was possible, so i have to put a paragraph break here. okay moving on i guess
in s23 (or something) chorby goes on her fun little fifth base adventure and super-roams and that is, to me, her version of lenny's year in hades. it's chorby looking at boston and new york and saying i love these places but i can't stay here and i need something new. and that's breckenridge! a place for her to be whatever the fuck she wants.
to me semicentennial/pre-s24 vibes for lenny chorby are that song that plays on the radio sometimes that's like. i know, you know, we know, we weren't meant for forever and that's fine, but if the world was ending you'd come over, right? that's them. (this is the song i know i could've just said the name but. no)
in s24 despite having successfully evaded active play for a long time, lenny is stolen onto the queens' thieves guild. and like. this is hard. because lenny has a life in seattle. because lenny is unstable. because mike is fucking gone. because chorby is in colorado and lenny is leaving. because she doesn't want to go.
this is another thing where i have a lot of thoughts. pointing at a blink fic again, dying to live hews pretty closely to the "lenny and chorby having a bad time" of it all. and i'd like to say there's a version where they can be close and friendly despite everything, that lenny can learn from the mistakes chorby made when she got precog, i don't know how likely that is.
to me the most likely outcome is lenny calls and says i'm scared and chorby says i'm scared too but they don't fly across the country and run into each other's arms. they have other support systems, and that's good, and it's hard.
lenny dies in the gleek.
but she dies feeling like herself, she dies knowing that chorby loves her, she dies knowing that she did everything she could
as sort of an epilogue: the jazz hands go to the hall when it opens, and chorby and lenny get to see each other again. and it's good, and they both know this is a last time, in some way or another. they can say a real, legitimate goodbye.
chorby invites lenny to come along with the jazz hands and she declines. the garages invite lenny to come along with them too, and she declines. the tigers say we're going to the vault, and this one, lenny accepts.
this is the other fic that i would write (and have sort of written part of): lenny's last few months. lenny meeting sparks in the hall, and lenny saying goodbye to chorby. lenny going to the vault. lenny choosing her own life.
and chorby and the jazz hands don't quite make it to the vault, but they're in good company. chorby in particular has friends on the mills to be with even as they fall short of their goal. chorby is surrounded by people who love her.
to try and distill this down: i've called this a breakup arc or a divorce arc and i don't think that's true. i think they love each other and they will always be in love and i think there are parts of them that can never love each other again, and they have to live knowing that. i think they've said their goodbyes and got their closure and it was horrible and it was worth it. is it a happy ending? no. but at least it's a real ending.
this post is 2400 words. if you made it to the end............... i hope you feel good about having read it. because that's a lot of words

i want to say that housewilson is one of the all time best gay pairings in television history but i havent seen a lot of television (i was not raised watching tv and ive only really seen supernatural and sherlock and i just watched house md this year. sorry) and i feel like teen wolf did some stuff that was really crazy in the homosexuality department but i havent seen that. i think if i were to rank iconic gay couples from tv shows from the early 2000s to the mid 2010s i would say that housewilson is my personal favorite but destiel ranks pretty high too. johnlock is rock bottom of the list and im so serious because they did a horrible discredit to that fucking character in that show like IM SO SORRY MR HOLMES I CANT BELIEVE THEY DID THAT TO YOU. house is the better adaption because it doesnt try to be the original stories and it doesnt try to say that its smarter. it's its own thing. and its good even though it is unbearable. i do think about trying to watch spn sometimes. i almost watched the whole show back in....2020....i think. but it got to the point where i was skipping most of the episode and only watching the beginning and the end (like around season 10)

stumbled on the oral history of SPN from 2014, back when they were just abt to hit episode 200. some interesting quotes to me:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
evil Sam fighting good Dean, you can definitely still see traces of that in the story even if it became something different in season 5... I wonder if the “evil Sam vs. good Dean” was an idea he’d had at the start of the show, percolating over the seasons, or if it was something he was thinking about only starting in s4 and s5, the timing is a bit ambiguous here. I’m also so curious if Kripke has read or watched anime/manga, particularly Devilman, because sometimes there are real shonen vibes to SPN, and Devilman vibes in particular: a complicated and homoerotic relationship between the 2 main protags, evil sexy demons, and an epic apocalyptic showdown. I guess even if he only read American fantasy works, there’s probably a way to trace some of it back to Devilman, considering its global influence.
Tumblr media
very interesting perspective on how Carver & his team wanted to write Sam post season 7 and into season 8. I kind of like that Carver was just, hey, fuck it, what if Sam did something out of character? but also when you make your main protag do something out of character, that’s tough from an emotional continuity perspective. character-wise, it’s hard for me to read Sam’s not looking for Dean as a mature, ‘exploring what it means to be his own person’ way, at least how it was shown in the narrative, and not as something instead rooted in trauma and avoidance. although this mature framing does explain some of the (to my perspective) narrative weirdness early in s8, and why the writing went so hard on the ‘Dean’s dysfunctional as compared to Sam’ angle in s8 & s9.
Tumblr media
kind of hilarious that the Gadreel storyline is so controversial in fandom and it was such a minor pitch. just a, well, we did a vampire storyline with Dean in s8, what if we did something with angels in s9, making friends with people who might seem like enemies otherwise. except with this framing, it would’ve made a ton more sense to have Sam say yes to Gadreel without being tricked by Dean, but then Gadreel to have his own secret agenda that he didn’t tell Sam, leading into the same surprise twist of Gadreel taking over Sam’s body like actually happens mid-season... I suppose the Dean tricking Sam thing did kick up some more conflict between the bros, and fit within the ‘the brothers can’t let each other go’ theme that Carver was clearly interested in exploring more.
Tumblr media
really is fascinating to me that I’ve frequently seen the idea of Dean as the POV of the show, compared to how Jensen talks about it here, which I think is a more much accurate read of the narrative. Kripke started the show hinging around Sam’s character & his POV and that then carried thru with other showrunners. seeing Dean as the main POV character is going to give you a different (skewed?) lens than what was intended by the writers. certainly I love taking into account Dean’s POV, but I think if one is trying to analyze writing choices or why certain things happen, knowing that Sam is more of the intended POV is useful in sorting all that out.

jensen's outfit at the TCAs was so campy and gay, i love it!!!!!! i'm so happy he's getting bolder and i wonder how far he'll take it. would love to know your thoughts about jensen + queerness in fashion
It was! and I'm in so much agreement
(you deserve a good reply to this ask, because it's such a good ask, but I also want to actually answer it at some point, and thus far I've mostly just been wading around self indulgently in my Jensen/clothes tags and thinking a lot about gay/bi!Jensen headcanons and stuff. Honestly this ask sent me on a goddamn jOUrney, that I will perhaps never recover from agdsggsgh. But basically, my thoughts are yes!)
Yes, our dude is not straight. Yes, he adores clothes and fashion in a way that-- honestly, I don't know very many men, but have only personally seen similar (though definitely lower key) feelings about fashion from gay men in my own life. (I realise that straight men can also love fashion ofc. Alex for instance seems to and I think he's straight, but you combine Jensen's fashionista tendencies with lots of other things, even just the vibes, and it's hard not to think he might gay or bi). He also just looks very good and knows it and is owning it.
Remember when bob singer brought up at comic con last year just how particular, basically just how much of a diva he was about Michael's wardrobe, and how that happens all the time. And Misha says how Jensen somehow loves dressing up even more than dean. And basically they were putting him on blast on stage, and he ofc couldn't even defend himself cause it was all true.
The fact that he tried to play it off as just having made a little suggestion to wardrobe, and then his boss was essentially like ~"now wait a second! no, you're a diva about your clothes, and you make us have your pants custom made because you're that much of a fussy snob about it, and we love you but, the people need to know the Truth."~ I think all of it says a lot about his relationship with his love of fashion, that he is embarrassed of it at least a little but that he also finds power through it too, that he just plain enjoys it.
He's so particular about clothes. He's so interested in clothes. He loves putting an effort in and working to impress and just look better than everyone else lbr. I love it, but I think what I love most about it lately is how shamelessly he's been going for it, wearing bold choices and just owning them not giving a shit what anyone says about them.
I was looking back through old events, and there was a time when he usually just wore a boring black button up or like a basic suit to events. And then a few years ago he went and wore that maroon suit to the pcas, and everyone went wild for it, cause ofc he looked good, and gradually since then, he's been just letting himself have fun with it. It's funny to even think now that that was so out there for him at the time, but it was.
Now I'm not sure if or when he uses a stylist. He certainly looks good enough sometimes that I wouldn't be surprised, I mean the blue plaid suit?? Shots fired babey, that was truly a look. But from the way Bob singer talks about Jensen dictating dean's wardrobe down to the smallest detail in some instances (at least when flannel isn't involved), it's definitely more than possible that these are all Jensen's doing.
I love it, truly, that he's gradually growing so much more comfortable with himself and that we've been able to witness it. I do think it's a reflection of his state of mind about his own queerness honestly, his being bolder in his fashion and absolutely feeling himself when he's wearing something he enjoys, I think that does probably mirror a self acceptance of other parts of himself that people have made fun of him for before. And probably deepens his self acceptance too, when his outside reflects who is more and he goes out and owns it.
The man just doesn't seem to give as many shits anymore, it seems, at least not as much as he did ten years ago.
I wish I knew more about fashion or queer men's fashion in particular, so this could be more insightful, but idk i feel like it's pretty obvious to most that that jacket was camp and that his love of soft sweaters and florals and bandanas and ridiculous hats and his love of peacoats and scarves years ago were all also kinda gay. And matching his boyfriend on the red carpet is kinda gay. And buying his boyfriend a shirt the color of his eyes and asking him to wear it on stage is kinda gay.
It's all kind of just a big blob of gay and Jensen feelings and gay/bi Jensen feelings and cockles feelings. Idk if any of this was insightful or even coherent lol. But man I'm with you in being excited about seeing what's next from our fashionista boy

SPN Conspiracies - Applying Logic to Chaos
Its been over 2 months now since the Supernatural finale aired. I am still so angry, hurt, and confused by it and I don’t think I will ever get closure unless someone like Andrew Dabb, or Jensen Ackles, actually opens up and gives us an explanation that makes sense.
What annoys me most right now is people trying to gaslight fans into believing that we should accept the narrative we have been given at face value: That the finale was always planned to be that way, that Destiel was never on the cards, that there was no Network interference, that the only changes made were due to covid and were minor at best.
This harmful gaslighting is FALSE.
NO ONE KNOWS THE TRUTH OF WHAT HAPPENED.
Look, I don’t agree with some of the crazier conspiracy theories. I don’t believe that there was some huge campaign among the CW Network execs to remove anything remotely gay out of homophobia. I don’t believe that the finale was changed because of some desire to make it into a Walker promo. I don’t believe that the finale was really bad on purpose in protest by Dabb for not getting to do an ending he truly wanted. I don’t believe that Dabb left us smart fans a bunch of secret messages in the finale to hint that he was on our side all along and that everything was fake.
I do, however, believe that all of these conspiracy theories have some elements in them that are plausible. At least, more plausible than the bullshit narrative mentioned above that some people are pushing in some desperate attempt to defend the Network (which imo is really strange behaviour anyway - why would anyone care about a TV network with a history of terrible behaviour?!?)
We have facts, based on information provided before the covid lockdown, which for some reason, people like Misha have since backpeddled on. So let me try to outline some of the information that makes no sense.
Below the cut I go on a deep dive into the conspiracies and statements I have heard about the SPN finale and try to make some sense of this whole fucked up situation. It gets long.
1. “Cas was never gonna be in the finale”.
False: We have many fan accounts of Misha confirming that he was filming the finale. We have video evidence of Misha confirming he was going back to film the finale after the lockdown. We have confirmation from fans in Misha M&Gs from March that he had about 5 days of filming left.
We also had fan accounts of discussions with Alex Calvert (I think) where he confirmed the final shot of the final episode was all four of them though I would LOVE if someone can find a source for this.
2. Okay, Misha was gonna be in the finale, but only as Jimmy Novak
False: I heavily side eyed Misha when he said this. But I think I can come up with a plausible explanation for it. Per above, Misha was supposed to film for 5 days. This does not align with the half a day he described of filming as Jimmy Novak. My own belief is that after Cas was cut from the finale (for whatever reason we don’t know) someone (probably Jensen Ackles) put up a fight and complained that Misha should be there for the final episode. The writers probably tried to come up with a way to bring Misha back without having to deal with Cas, and pitched the idea of Jimmy Novak being in Heaven. Misha, obviously annoyed about this, turned this stupid pitch down.
3. Destiel was never a thing, never planned, never part of Dabb’s ending. Bobo and Misha pushing the confession was the part of the season that was Wrong.
False: We have a SPN writer on record saying that Castiel’s confession was the first thing written for Season 15 when the writers returned to the writers room. If it wasn’t planned, why was it the first thing written, why does it align so well with the rest of season 15? Look I know some people either a. hate destiel and refuse to see it even if it slaps them in the face, or b. have major heteronormative goggles on, or c. are just homophobes in denial, but 15x18 fits in perfectly with the narrative of season 15. Everything Cas says, everything that happened in that scene was so in character it just works. It fit. If you just rewatch the season whilst applying some critical thinking skills and pay attention to the narrative and character arcs, trust me, the confession fits in with pretty much every other plot point, and character story in the season.
Also: We have known for a while that the network did market research into Destiel, wanting to know if it would go down well or not. They were well aware of its popularity and considering it. Where would this have come from if not pitched by the showrunner? Dabb must have at least been considering it. If you take all of Dabb era into consideration, starting with mid season 11, all the way through the season 12 build up, season 13 grief arc, and then Bobo’s Destiel break up arc in late season 14, early season 15, it is clear that there was some toing and froing on the issue of Destiel, but ultimately, I still believe that Dabb was on board. He wrote 13x01 for christs sake. No way he wasn’t taking it seriously.
 4. It’s always been about the brothers. The finale just stays true to what Supernatural is all about.
*rubs temples* Fundamentally FALSE: The show has time and again reasserted the message of “Family don’t end with blood”, as well as the messages of AKF and YANA. Sam and Dean may be at the heart of the show, but a heart can’t exist without a body to support it. Without bones, and lungs, and blood, and muscles, and a BRAIN. The finale abandons the shows core messages. It forces the characters back into their season 1 characterisations and the whole thing becomes hollow and souless. But I’m not here to complain, I’m here to lay down the facts. Dean’s heaven was supposed to be surrounded by loved ones right? We know OG Charlie Bradbury was gonna be in his Heaven, we also know CAS was gonna be in there. So this idea that the finale as it currently stands was how it was meant to be is wrong. Dean was supposed to die and reunite with his found family and loved ones. This alone would have been a far better ending than the one given. Do I think this was solely a covid issue? Fuck no.
The randoms that WERE in the finale are proof alone that they could have got people in and quarantined. We also have several actors on record saying that they WOULD have quarantined for the finale had they been asked to return but they WEREN’T.
Lies have been told. Samantha Ferris and Chad Limberg have confirmed that we have been lied to about the original plans for the finale.
This alone is proof enough that there is more plausibility in some of the conspiracy theories than any bullshit narrative some people are pushing in defence of the barbaric mess of a finale we were given.
So lets address some of the conspiracy theories now:
Conspiracy No.1: The CW Network reviewed Supernatural during the covid break, and due to homophobia, refused any Destiel arc that wasn’t already filmed, shut down any potential reciprocation from Dean, and forced Dabb to change his finale.
I don’t think this is entirely what happened. But I do think it is very strange how there is a such a huge disconnect particularly in Dean’s characterisations between what had come before the lockdown, and what came after. The one fact we have here, and please someone provide a source if you can find it because I know there is one, the finale script was still going through changes up to only 2 weeks before it was filmed. We know that there was some weird editing in 15x18 (which was still in post and uncompleted before lockdown) and we know from Jensen’s own mouth that there was more to the confession scene on Dean’s side that was cut. We also know that this isn’t the first time that Destiel heavy moments have been changed in post - the prayer scene is another big scene that went through a lot of changes and Bobo fought to have his script play out the way he wanted it.
There are certain things that in my own opinions, are basically true of SPN which I have put together from years of keeping one eye on the writers room, the network, and all the various comments made. My opinion is this:
The writers room has always been split on Destiel. Some writers heavily supported making it canon, others did not care, or were against it.
The Network considered it over the course of several years, did market research, green lit it, then changed their minds, possibly several times over the course of Dabb’s era. Destiel was pitched to the Network early in Dabb era.
The crew on set were also split. Some people heavily supported it, and worked to assist the reading, whereas others did not care/did not support it. The same can be said for the editing room.
Bob Singer supported the subtextual homoeroticism, but never supported bringing it into text (this is an opinion, but I think it aligns with everything we know about him.) IMO Bob Singer also supported subtextual homoeroticism between Sam and Dean - the guy is gross is what I’m saying. He isn’t exactly a progressive person.
Fun fact - a while back our old enemy Sera Gamble went on a Twitter rant about writers rooms and the ways a script goes through changes. I don’t think this was in relation to the SPN finale wank but she basically inadvertantly confirmed that the Network can step in and make sweeping changes to a script if they want to and if they decide they don’t like the direction of a story. Sera Gamble confirmed this as a fact.
Now. I’m not saying that this is what the CW did with Destiel. I just think its very strange how pre lockdown, the last thing filmed is a heartfelt homosexual declaration of love between Dean and Cas, and we have a finale script that Misha had not seen, but knew that he was meant to film as Castiel for 5 days (5 days on set is over half of an episode as far as I know). Then all of a sudden, Covid happens, and Cas is cut from the finale completely, a desperate attempt to bring Misha back only as Jimmy Novak takes place, which Misha rightly refuses, leading to a finale which makes zero sense narratively and appears in every way completely and utterly butchered.
The only explanation provided by anyone involved is that Covid meant changes had to happen - but that covid didn’t change the actual story at all.
But this makes no sense because we know that Cas was cut from the finale. This is FACT. Do not let anyone gaslight you into thinking otherwise. Misha was preparing to quaranting to return to set as Cas post Covid, so whatever happened to cut Cas from the finale, it wasn’t Covid.
I’m gonna have to Occum’s Razor this and say that the most logical explanation here is the one that is most likely true. Someone got cold feet with the Destiel story, and to prevent any possible interpretation that included Dean reciprocating, any hints of Destiel were removed from the finale script, including Castiel’s whole appearance.
Now, this isn’t me saying I think that Dabb’s original finale was full of Destiel love confessions and a homosexual kiss or whatever, but I am asking you all to really think about it and ask yourselves WHY Cas would have been totally cut from an episode he was supposed to be in at LEAST half of?
We will probably never know the real reason Cas was cut, but he WAS cut. I’m not saying it was all homophobia, but some fuckery went down.
Conspiracy No. 2: The CW Network changed the finale to make it into a Walker promo because they only cared about raising up Jared and not Jensen and Misha as they were losing them anyway.
I don’t agree with this in terms of the finale being butchered solely to make it into a Walker promo. There are however moments in the finale that are clearly supposed to be Walker Easter Eggs and added to excite fans of Jared/Sam in particular such as Sam’s gratuitous and unnecessary topless scene, as well as the call on the “case in Austin”.
I will take this moment to say something pretty damn controversial though.
*Deep breath*
The fact is, Dean Winchester has been the “lead” character of Supernatural’s narrative for years now, with Sam often being sidelined and not given great storylines himself. Even in Season 15, right up until the finale, I myself felt bad for Sam sometimes because so much of this show has become all about Dean. Jensen Ackles is clearly the better actor when it comes to emotional story arcs, so the emotional heart of the story has most often leant on him.
So you can understand my confusion, when this is turned on its head in the final episode, to make Sam carry all the emotional weight, and have the most lines/screentime, and story resolution (even if his story resolution was just as crappy as Dean’s).
If we pretend that Destiel is not a thing, and ignore Cas’s confession, the story change in the finale from Dean focus to Sam focus is still rather suspicious. Again, I’m not saying I completely approve of or agree to the conspiracy theory that Walker influenced the butchering of the script, but I can believe that perhaps a note went down from the CW to someone like Bob Singer, to emphasise Sam/Jared more than they perhaps would normally, because the CW wanted to shine the spotlight on Jared to raise excitement for Walker.
I can also believe this note might have said something like “we wanna cater to fans of Sam/Jared the most - don’t do anything to piss them off.” but now I am getting into my own conspiracy theories so by all means dismiss this as me being bitter.
Conspiracy No.3: Dabb purposely made it bad, as a secret message to Destiel fans that he had been silenced, by layering meta clues into the episode that he knew fans would notice.
I doubt this one is true. Though some of the theories are quite compelling. The old vampire silent movie theory for instance starts off quite well, but loses me the moment it brings up Urban Dictionary slang.
Sometimes I have just had to accept that Supernatural is a bad show that is sometimes accidentally a masterpiece. However, some writers really did go That Deep with their stories - anything by Ben Edlund or Steve Yockey for instance, their episodes are meta masterpieces with a hundred different layers of beautiful subtextual storytelling and are a joy to analyse. Bobo Berens has certainly done some A+++ work especially now we KNOW that he was working hard all this time to bring Destiel to canon text (so any analysis of Destiel in the subtext in his episodes is very accurate). There have been many other key elements analysed over the years which have been confirmed true. Cas’s death in Season 12, Dean’s time as a demon in season 10, Season 11 ending in unity of dark and light, these were all plot points predicted by meta writers just by analysing the narrative. Sometimes the writers really have been very smart and they do add things to the show to aid us in our meta.
Richard Speight Jr for instance, confirmed that SPN has a visual library that the production team use to give clues and hints in the narrative. Pizza, for example, always means a lie has been told. Whenever Pizza is being eaten or even just mentioned on screen, there is dishonesty in that particular moment.
The beers also have a very specific message and the one thing I can’t let go about the finale, was that Dean was drinking El Sol beer. The beer his dad gave him, that was terrible.
El Sol has been used in the show to indicate something being wrong, a fake reality, or another lie, for the longest time. It is the beer of deception.
The fact that in the final episode of this entire show, Dean is in Heaven, supposedly at peace, and then he gets handed an El Sol beer to drink? Thats a HUGE red flag for any meta writer watching who can read SPNs visual library.
If they had given him the Margiekugel beer of family then it would make sense. Dean is in Heaven, with Bobby, his family, at peace. Margiekugel should have been the beer of choice. But nope. El Sol. Something is wrong.
I don’t know if it was Dabb, or Singer, or some disgruntled ADs and crew members who added these elements into the finale, but their very presence confirms some message of Wrongness.
I could go into a huge rant about Vampire Mimes not making sense and the very glaringly obvious symbolism of cutting out peoples tongues too, but that is high school level film analysis. It’s obvious. It means to silence someone. There is validity in interpreting this as Dabb saying he was silenced. I don’t know how true it is, but i can’t 100% dismiss it, because as I said, this is high school analysis levels of obvious subtextual storytelling.
So in summary, whilst I don’t think that Dabb intentionally went out of his way to sabotage his own script, and leave a breadtrail of secret messages for savvy fans to put together to confirm that he was silenced by an evil network into not getting what he wanted... I do think that there is validity in questioning these odd choices for the finale. Cutting out tongues? Vampire Mimes? El Sol beer?
The evidence is somewhat compelling is all I’m saying. I don’t believe the full conspiracy theories, but as I have said many times before, some fuckery went down.
So What Do I Believe?
That some fuckery went down and whatever company line they are pushing is bullshit.
I believe that the original script included Cas (since thats fact). I believe that the original script probably always had Dean dying on a vampire hunt (due to Jensen’s issues with it and in particular, his sarcastic comments about vampires in the past year or so which in hindsight are hilarious and prove he never really came to terms with Dean’s idiotic death). I believe Dabb’s original script was some less crappy version of what we got, which potentially included showing Jack rescuing Cas from the Empty and resolving the outstanding Empty plot points (potentially this was actually a 15x19 plot since Mark P commented that his final scenes were supposed to be with Jack and Cas), had Cas reunite with Dean in Heaven and had them have a discussion about Cas’s confession. I believe that there was probably a lot of back and forth over how to handle that with some people wanting Dean to obviously reciprocate and others believing they should keep it ambiguous. I believe that Dean and Cas would have reunited with Charlie Bradbury, and Bobby Singer, and possibly others (though if this was the case it must have been very early on since no one ever looped in Sam Ferris, Chad Linberg or any other Roadhouse people).
I believe that Sam’s ending probably didn’t change much, but I do feel that initially they were planning on him ending up with Eileen, because it is the only thing that narratively makes sense. Cutting Eileen and giving him a blurry wife is something I won’t ever understand and Jared’s bullshit explanations are quite clearly pulled out of his ass to appease bronly types. I believe the reunion on the bridge would have included Cas and Jack, with a final shot of all four of them together, at peace (as this aligns with Alex’s comments from around a year or so ago that the final shot was all four of them). (I also am not sure it was always supposed to be on a bridge since the foreshadowing in an earlier episode showed Dean, Cas and Sam all in the Roadhouse together).
I believe that script went through countless changes and redrafts, and not even production people or the types that some fandom people claim as their “sources” would even have seen those early scripts, since even Misha never saw it. I believe that these rumours of Dabb never having Cas in his finale and ignoring all Destiel elements likely come from people who only saw later versions, weren’t party to network discussions and felt bitter about the final scripts they did see (being the crappy butchered one that was ultimately filmed). Those “sources” are now spreading rumours to discredit Dabb.
I obviously believe Dabb is a weak ass pushover who either didn’t care enough to fight back, or gave up since he’s been stuck with fucking Bob Singer on his back for years, but I will NEVER believe he didn’t care about the DeanCas love story, because he has been one of the few writers who has championed for it for years. You can’t look back at Dabb’s episodes in earlier seasons and claim he didn’t care. Dabb was a writer whose creative ideas were beaten out of him by an unforgiving Network only concerned about where their future money was coming from. Do I think he gave up too easily? Yes. But I also have one other huge reason for not believing the bullshit about Dabb being this anti-Destiel villain.
Bobo. Because if Bobo truly believed Dabb was gonna fuck that up at the end, I don’t think he would have given us Cas’s love confession to begin with. If he had known it was gonna end like that, I think he would have reconsidered, because had Cas not confessed his love, I don’t think he would have been cut from the finale. Bobo - a gay man, would not have wanted such a horrible message for queer fans being put across in the show he worked so hard on. He started writing that confession scene the day they returned to the writers room. Dabb would have been there, would have seen what he was writing, probably discussed it with him, after all, other episodes were written with the confession in mind. No way was Dabb planning to fuck up the ending knowing what Bobo was giving us. Nope.
Something went very wrong over lockdown. Someone, somewhere up the chain of power caught wind of the confession scene in 15x18, realised that it demanded a resolution which would make Dean Winchester, their protagonist, queer, and pulled the plug. I believe this did not come from a place of homophobia, but of bad business sense.
The CW is constantly trying to win the approval and attention of the one demo group that they seem to fail at getting the most: young straight men. Supernatural was one of their only remaining shows that appeals to young straight men, and Dean Winchester is more often than not the fave character of those young straight men who project onto him. Making Dean Winchester, established Han Solo of Supernatural, queer and in love with his best friend in the finale would have come across as a betrayal to those young straight men. The CW probably feared they would lose that demo group for good, and with a show like Walker starting soon with Jared at the helm, they couldn’t take the risk.
Hence there was probably a whole bunch of back and forth script redrafts with the Network, with Dabb and Singer fighting to make a finale that would appeal to everyone. There was most likely no way that they could bring Cas back without addressing what had already been filmed, because any resolution of that plot would either a. make Dean queer, or b. address it awkwardly by having Dean reject Cas (this storyline would probably have been slammed by critics worse than the finale because it meant addressing it. It might have got the attention of LGBTQ activist groups and caused a bigger shitstorm than what we got). The best option was therefore C. Bury it and Cas, pretend it never happened. Never address it again and distract Dean with other things. Hope that Destiel fans will accept no answer from Dean as ambiguous enough to imagine a future reunion rather than shutting it down with a rejection, and still keep hold of the blissfully ignorant heteronormative straight boys so they can carry over to Walker when it starts.
I also believe (controversially probably) that there was concern that any resolution of Dean and Cas would have overshadowed network darling Jared Padalecki. If Dean and Cas had come together in the finale, with a very clearly textual homosexual reunion, then that would have been all anyone talked about. The reviewers, the critics, the audience, everyone. It would have been nothing but Dean and Cas (and look, if they did think this, they were right, Destiel trending over the US ELECTION.)
So what is the network to do, when they are losing the two stars who would get the most attention from this storyline? The one star they were holding on to and getting his own show, relegated to third place in the finale of the show where he was first on the call sheet? Nope. That’s pretty unacceptable. Even without Walker I can imagine people at all levels side eyeing the Destiel thing over the years. This IS a show about two brothers, and their relationship should be the core relationship, we can’t have one brother pushed aside in the finale to make way for a queer relationship that will get all the attention instead. It was never gonna get approved for this reason ALONE.
At the end of the day, if I look at it from a business perspective, it makes far more sense that the CW shut down Destiel, rather than “oh Dabb never cared and ruined it because he’s an idiot.” The writers cared, and had built on that story over years. But their mistake was leaving any Destiel resolution to the finale. If they had instead gone and got Dean and Cas together in early season 15, then they could have ended it in a way that satisfied everyone. Destiel wouldn’t have threatened pulling focus away from Sam and Dean, and the show could have gone out on a high.
When I lay out all the conspiracy theories, and line them up next to the cold hard facts, the conspiracy theories in some way or another, make more sense. To believe the company line, the narrative we have been fed, is to ignore your own eyes, ears, and memories pre March 2020.
All I’m asking people to do is take a look at the show, the narrative presented in the show, and the information presented above. I’m not telling you to believe what I’ve written here, half of which is just my own opinion. I’m asking you to ask yourselves if it makes sense to you. Because it sure as hell doesn’t make sense to me. I don’t think I’ll ever be satisfied.

“Dean, we know like five people, and one of them is literally the King of Hell. Why are we sending them Christmas cards?” You asked, bewildered by your boyfriend’s weird antics. The two of you were currently sitting in Bobby’s living room, uploading an obscene number of photos from your phone onto Sam’s laptop.
“Because, sweetheart. First of all, we have all these pictures that need to be shared with the world. And second, it’s the first Christmas where we all agreed to take a break from hunting and enjoy the holidays. So we’re doing it apple-pie style: Christmas cards, boozy eggnog, a tree, you know… the works!” He exclaimed, and you stared at him.
“We already do two out of three of those things every year anyway. What’s your point?” you asked, confused and he rolled his green eyes.
“My point is that we have these amazing pictures of Cas in ugly Christmas sweaters that no one has seen except for us, and I think that is a Christmas crime!” He said dramatically, pulling up a photo of your angel friend looking disgruntled in a green sweater with Jesus knitted on with a party hat and a shirt that said ‘Birthday Boy’.
“Cas will kill us if we send that out,” you said, wanting to defend the helpless angel, but your laughter betrayed you.
“See?” Dean said knowingly.
“Alright, alright,” you caved. “But only if we put funny pictures of all of us. I don’t wanna single him out like that. Then that’s just mean.” He nodded his head in agreement.
The next hour was spent rifling through the collection of photos, laughter filling the room as both of you pointed out funny pictures. Eventually, you had settled on a silly picture of each of you to put on the card.
Sam’s was a picture that Dean had taken years before, the younger Winchester brother passed out  on a motel room floor next to the Christmas tree after a long night of eggnog and Christmas movies. His mouth was wide open as he was caught mid-snore, his long hair covering half of his face.
Your photo was taken last year, when you had gotten sick while hunting a witch. You had been sniffling and sneezing all day, resulting in a very red nose. As a joke, the boys had gotten you reindeer antlers and called you Rudolph for the whole day. You were laying in bed, a pout on your lips, as you stared grumpily into the camera.
Your favorite picture, though, was Dean’s. It was taken several years ago, right after a werewolf hunt. Even though it was only Christmas Eve, the three of you decided you had earned the right to exchange gifts early. You had bought Dean a pair of boxers covered in lots of little Dean faces wearing Santa hats. Honestly, you had thought he would hate it, so you also bought him a bottle of his favorite whiskey, but much to your surprise, Dean had loved the present, immediately rushing to the bathroom to change. He reentered the room grinning widely donning only the boxers and had sprayed shaving cream on his face as a faux Santa beard. You had forgotten this picture had existed until now.
Dean had found a website that provided countless holiday card templates to play around with. And play around with them, you did. That was how Sam found you two: huddled over his computer, giggling like children. He sighed.
“If you’re watching porn on my computer again, I’m gonna kill you,” he threatened. You looked up at him quizzically.
“Two things, Samuel. Number one, ew why would we watch porn together?” You asked, wrinkling your nose in disgust. “And number two, you gotta look at this.” You turned the computer around so Sam could see the work in progress.
“Classic Rudolph,” he snickered, and Dean smirked.
“Wha— no! Hey! At least I’m not the one passed out on the floor like some seventeen year old girl at a frat party,” you said defensively.
“Maybe not, but you were the one passed out on the floor at Jody’s last week,” Sam shot back, and a blush rose in your cheeks.
“You were the dumbasses that spiked my drink! You know I’m terrible at handling my liquor,” you accused the brothers, shooting your boyfriend a glare when he had the audacity to laugh.
“Sorry, sweetheart. You make it too easy sometimes,” Dean said with a shrug, kissing you on the cheek when you pouted.
“Save it for the bedroom,” Sam said, shoving himself onto the couch. He planted his body firmly between the two of you. Grabbing the laptop from your hands, he began to click away at the screen, adding on the finishing touches.
“So bossy,” you whispered across the couch to Dean. He chuckled.
“Us Winchester men are known for our dominance,” he said proudly, puffing out his chest.
“Trust me, I know,” you stated with a wink.
“Oh my god! I’m right here!” Sam cried out, earning a laugh from you and Dean.
“You’re the one who put yourself there, Sammy,” Dean pointed out, and you nodded in agreement.
“I— ugh. Whatever, here,” Sam said, shoving the laptop back to you before getting off the couch.
“Where ya going Sam?” You asked, as he began to walk away.
“Somewhere away from you two,” he called over his shoulder.
“Finally,” Dean said dramatically, throwing an arm around your shoulder and pulling you close to his side. Together, you looked at the finished product that Sam had perfected. The edges of the card were lined with cute little mistletoe patterns, each corner filled with a picture. In the center, there was a large ornament with the words “Merry Christmas, from the Winchesters” written in red cursive letters.
“Not bad, Sammy. Not bad at all,” Dean muttered to himself. You had to admit, it was pretty good. There was just one minor problem.
“Dean,” you whispered, not wanting to upset him. He hummed in response to tell you he was listening.
“I’m not a Winchester,” you told him. His eyes slid off the screen and onto your face, taking in your timid expression. He gave you a warm smile.
“Not yet sweetheart, but soon,” he promised, planting a kiss onto the side of your head.
