breaking the tumblr fast to ask for prayer :') it is currently the WORST of times (though, in intense joyous flashes, occasionally also the best of times). I am bulldozing my way through the dregs of midterms, final exam prep, graduation plans, job applications, dorm volunteer stuff, all while trying to deal with/reckon with/endure/come to terms with/persevere through literally the deepest emotional pain I've ever been in lol

do you have any bands that you like ? favorite songs ? novels ? i’ve been reading and rereading your posts for quite awhile now it comforts me to look at your art it kickstarted me into reading jthm playing psychonauts and rereading homestuck again today . there’s a lot i think would be nice to say but i am not sure how to verbalize it . i do hope you are doing well .

This ask came in much earlier this summer and I thought it was really sweet, but I've had a lot going on and didn't want to put up a half-baked response. Things are winding down for me at the moment and I plan to spend a little more time online, though, and this seems like a fun question to revisit.

I'm a little nitpicky when it comes to recommending things to people, but here's a picture of my bookshelf. I have a heavy preference for nonfiction reading, but most of the fiction I own is here. I don't read as many comics as I used to, but there are a few that have stuck with me......... obviously. Lol

Musically...I've spent this summer listening to the new Uncle Outrage album as well as some of his older works. Big fan of this guy. The albums Thunder, Lightning, Strike and The Scene Between by The Go! Team have also been prominent features. Sparks has some highlights (Girl from Germany & Saccharin and the War come to mind) I've enjoyed, and I'm a longstanding Eminem fan.

I don't really check it anymore but every time I do more changes were made that #make me clutch my head in despair pain and misery. its borderline unusable to me + I never thought i'd say that about tumblr of all places #I tend to not get upset by websites homogenizing but everything happening here is just really sad to me. it's unrecognizable

have i ever talked about how barton is genuinely jealous of people who seem happy because he feels so hollow a majority of the time that even when he's 'happy,' he's not really happy? because i just 😭 yeah...

#OF MONSTERS AND MEN: musings.#yeahhh i'm hitting y'all with the angst now because although i could EASILY talk about how horrible barton is for a while...#he knows that he's horrible and he feels like a monster who exists on the outside of everything that is 'warm' and 'good' sometimes #and although it doesn't haunt barton as NEARLY as much as it should be he does sometimes spend days on end just. In bed and crying #because he feels like he physically CAN'T be normal like everyone else and that he has deserved every terrible thing that has happened-#to him because it he legitimately believes it was too late for him since the beginning. that merely born as part of the mathis family-#had pegged him for misery and causing people pain because that's what his father did as well as his father's father and likely-#even further back. and i just... UGH i am of course allowed to feel sympathy for a fictional character at times but it's such a double-edged #sword with some because even barton has these moments where he is not so bad and maybe even does something kind by another-#person you know? but he is self-destructive and sabotages his relationships + his anger is just. out of control and it's kind of sad #but also like... if you want something to change then you've got to do it for yourself. i don't think barton as a character right now KNOWS-#how to change though and that is honestly tragic in and of itself
