you woke to hushed giggles in the cabin, an aphrodite boy perched up on one of your half brothers. basically eating each other's faces before anyone wakes up to see them, you roll your eyes.

listen, you weren't entirely against romance. just all the bits where you have to share yourself with your 'special person', especially in public. pda was your own personal tartarus, you were sure of it.

which is why it was shocking to receive a stupid note during breakfast from luke asking if you're free tonight, misspelled might you add. and even though you found it stupid, you couldn't help but wonder why he would even bother with you.

you— the person who once told him that he had the face of a sloth, the person who shoved him into the lake just because you could, the person who told him to 'get over' hermes when he came to camp. really, you couldn't think of any reason he'd ever like you.

but with how he smiled eagerly when you opened the note, and how he waved and did a thumbs up when you read it. you ditched the unsure thoughts of him just lying to you. you weren't free anymore.

you circled the no answer box, slipping the note back to him when your cabin was called for the offerings. trying not to look at him when he got cheesy and had percy come over to tell you to meet luke at a spot.

"luke said he wants you to meet him at," percy looks down at his hand, like he's reading from a fake script. "the place you poured juice onto his head? he's speaking in riddles to me, man."

you almost smiled at percy's sarcastic tone, but instead, you rolled your eyes and took a bite of your food. "tell him ill be there at 7." you say, turning your full attention to your food after.

you think you hear percy say, 'aye aye captain.' but you can't really be sure. you're too busy wondering how you're going to keep your food down with how your stomachs churning just thinking about what will happen.

well, turns out— 7 will come a lot sooner when you're stressing about what will happen at that time, the movies lied to you!

you sit anxiously at a clearing in the forest, looking around as you remember how you had dumped apple juice onto lukes head when you both were 15. you claimed it was to cool him down, but really, it was because he had called you pretty.

twigs snap behind you, and when you snap your head around, you're greeted with cupcakes?

"hey," luke greets, calmly sitting next to you like this was a casual hangout. "you hungry?" he asks, but he's a little nervous. his voice strained and his face a little red as he holds out sloppy cupcakes, clearly done by him and younger campers.

the cupcakes are messy, but they smell delicious. you almost grab one before reading what is spelt out on them, 'kiss me?'

you can't help but laugh, giggling to yourself as you hover over the k cupcake. "man i knew it was silly," he groans, setting the platter in his lap as he looks away embarrassedly. "i knew you hated pda, so i did it away from others but i shouldn't have listened to annabeth with the cupcakes it's just she said percy did it and she loved it and–"

you pressed a finger to his lips, picking up the cupcake you wanted. taking a slow bite as you savor it, thinking about his rant while he stares at you with wide eyes. you ignore how you swear both your hearts are beating in sync.

"it's sweet," you say, not knowing if you're talking about the cupcake or his confession. "it's not silly." it comes out before you can even think about what you're saying, you're talking about the confession?

it shocks both of you clearly. "you're sure?" he asks hesitantly, drumming his fingers on the platter. "i had help from demeter kids with the cooking, so i hope it's good, but are you sure that it's not stupid you don't have to call it sweet i get—"

you press your lips to his hesitantly, unsure of what you're doing, but honestly, he needed to shut up. he sits stiffly with the cupcakes on him, his hands coming up to pull you closer. you both awkwardly avoid dropping any while you kiss, teeth clashing together a few times.

when you both pull away you can't help but laugh, his dazed and blushing face so close to yours that he can smell the sugar and dinner on your breath. he starts laughing too, leaning his forehead on yours.

"im not free tonight," you whisper, watching as he looks at you confusedly. the angle is a little silly to look at him from, but for some reason your heart beats harder in your ears. "i think im taken."

his confused face splits into a stupid grin, pressing another kiss against your mouth before he lifts up the question mark cupcake. "by me?" he asks, cheesily but you can't imagine it being any other way.

"yes," you roll your eyes but your voice is soft, and he thinks his heart will explode in his chest. "by you."

y/n wasn't sure what attracted her to luke castellan. maybe it was his charm, especially how charming he was when she first arrived to camp. maybe it was his looks. y/n always thought luke was way better looking than his siblings (don't let him find that out). or was it how she always felt giddy around him? she never felt this way around other campers, so what made luke so special?

the apollo girl was trying to figure it out on the way to breakfast, when a pair of hands clapped down on her shoulders. it brought her out of her trance.

the culprit was the hermes boy she couldn't get out of her head. luke castellan. along with annabeth beside him. y/n was confused once percy wasn't there. wherever annabeth went, percy followed.

"you've been so lost in thought recently, you okay?" y/n could tell luke was sincere while asking.

she only shrugs, "just have a lot on my mind i guess," she sends a smile to the pair before rejoining her own siblings at the apollo table.

annabeth simply shrugs towards luke, who's clearly just as confused by y/n's actions.

all throughout breakfast, luke couldn't keep his gaze away from y/n. her thoughts from earlier must have vanished. luke watched as she smiled brightly with her siblings. a smile that could light up the whole room, luke thought.

as cliche as it sounds, the way the sun was rising shined against y/n's hair perfectly. it was as if there was a halo surrounding her, securing the fact that she embodied sunlight.

when campers talked to y/n, they always left with a smile. luke was a victim to that as well.

as annabeth was walking back to her own table, with her second round of breakfast on her plate, she caught lule staring at y/n.

annabeth leaned down to luke, and the action made the boy jump, only making annabeth laugh. "and we're dreamily looking at y/n why?"

"damn annabeth, why don't you just restart my heart while you're at it."

"you didn't answer my question."

"i doubt i have a chance with her," luke sighs.

"you mean as in a relationship?"

luke nods, and annabeth sits beside him, not caring about the table rules in this very moment.

"why do you think she may not like you back?" annabeth questions.

"do you see her?" annabeth nods, choosing to ignore luke's grand hand gestures towards you. "she's the literal sun. everything about her is so pure, and positive, and perfect. what would she even like about me?"

"well, have you talked to her about this?"

luke looked at annabeth as if she had three heads and each one had smoke blowing out of it's ears.

"why on earth would i tell her? do i want to be made fun of by the most breath-taking girl at camp?" he said it if it were obvious.

without a word, annabeth left. this only confused luke. annabeth always had to have the last word in the conversation. luke knew she was planning something. he just wasn't sure what.

"why would there be a dolphin in the library of your cabin?"

to say y/n was beyond confused would be an understatement.

less than five minutes ago, annabeth informed her of a rabid dolphin placed in the middle of her library in athena cabin. y/n couldn't even get a thought out before annabeth started dragging her out of her own cabin.

"probably percy's idea. i don't know i haven't asked him yet." annabeth was still dragging y/n by her wrist.

"why don't you ask your little boyfriend about it and not me?" y/n offers. she sees annabeth become flustered as her grip loosens only for a moment, before the two girls end up outside the library door of athena cabin.

y/n pointed to the closed door, "and what exactly do you think i'm going to be able to do about a rabid dolphin?"

"you'll know," annabeth simply states, before pushing y/n inside quite aggressively. y/n hears the door lock.

"did you get the deranged raccoon story too?"

y/n turns to see luke looking through some of the books. she soon realized annabeth's little plan she had going on.

"no, not raccoons," y/n laughs, "a rabid dolphin actually."

"at least yours seems cooler," luke jokes.

y/n leans back against a wall and crosses her arms, already hating the slight awkward tension of the room.

"why would annabeth even trap us in here together? we barely know each other."

luke shrugs, "maybe that's what she wanted. for us to get to know each other better."

"i'm sorry, but doesn't annabeth, daughter of athena, goddess of wisdom, have something better to do with her time than trap two camp counselors in her library?"

luke couldn't help but laugh at the girl's response. she did have a point.

simply with the desk lamp light glowing towards y/n, luke still thought she looked like a human version of the sun.

"you're staring."

luke didn't even realize a few minutes have passed.

y/n only giggles at his flushed appearance, and walks over to stand beside him at the desk. a few books are opened. probably from annabeth doing more research about gods-knows-what. luke was now turned towards the books, and he felt y/n lean her chin upon his shoulder.

"do i make you nervous castellan?" she teases, jokingly at first. until she realizes he just tensed up at her phrase.

she slaps his upper arm, "oh my gods, i do make you nervous!" she exclaims.

luke rolls his eyes, "yeah, yeah, rub it in."

"am i dreaming right now? or does the luke castellan get nervous around me? and not some aphrodite camper?"

"aphordite's daughters have nothing on you," luke doesn't dare to make eye contact with the girl, but he's well aware of her staring. "you're literally a walking ray of sunshine. what can't i like about you?"

y/n involuntarily blushes at the compliment. she then places her chin back on luke's shoulder. finally, the taller boy looks at her. he swore he saw golden flakes dancing around her pupils.

there was a sudden change in atmosphere. neither of them could pin point why, but they weren't opposed to it.

"when i first got to camp, you made me nervous," y/n admits.

luke's eyebrows raise, "really?"

she simply nods, "the cool guy hermes camper wanted to talk to me more than his own brothers? of course you made me nervous."

both of them laugh at y/n's words, knowing they're nothing but true.

"why didn't you tell me before?" y/n asks, referring to luke's confession moments ago.

"i was worried you'd find it odd. and maybe you wouldn't want to talk to me, it's dumb i know," luke cuts himself off from his own rambling.

"it's definitely not odd," y/n reassures, "it's kinda cute, like you."

luke wasn't sure if he heard that last part right. maybe he just imagined it in his head, as something he wanted to hear. but he turned his head to face y/n. he was met with her staring back up at him, with worry filling her eyes as he didn't respond back.

"i like you luke, probably a lot more than i should," y/n moves her body away from luke's as she begins to walk towards the other side of the library.

however before she can even walk three steps away from the boy, his hand grabs at her wrist, halting her moments.

silence fills the room. not an uncomfortable one, but a steady silence.

luke pulls at y/n's wrist, making her hand collide with his chest. because of their height difference, now y/n had to look up at him. she gulped quietly, scared of what luke was going to say, or do to her.

the next event only confused y/n more.

luke leaned down and kissed y/n on the lips. she closed her eyes and savored the short but sweet feeling. in fact, it was too short for her liking. she broke her arm away from luke's grasp and he thought he was done for right then and there when she grabbed the back of his neck to bring his lips to hers again.

this time the kiss was much more passionate. months or maybe years of pent up emotions spilling out into it.

the two were too caught up in the moment as a muffled voice from behind the door became louder, and the door opened with the same voice following.

"do you really have a dolphin- OH MY GODS,"

y/n and luke turn to see percy standing in the doorway, with annabeth running up behind him.

"i tried to tell him," annabeth defended. "come on seaweed brain, let them have their moment."

"right sorry," percy then closed the door, before opening it again, "leave enough space for jesus between you two. i mean it!"

Like come on Rick you are telling me Percy the greatest demigod of all time Jackson has to be paired up with someone who has nothing in common with him, frequently condescends him, literally forces her own views on him, hates his father, has a mother who tried to kill Percy, is controlling and toxically possessive of him and most importantly someone who has completely different life goals than him?? It doesn't even make sense when you look at it rationally.

I think Rick himself was trying to put Percy down in post Son of Neptune books by making his personality all about Annabeth.

We are talking about the Savior of Olympus, the bearer of Achilles Curse, the strongest demigod, the man who denied immortality from the King of Gods, Poseidon's favorite son, the only demigod to have been approached by other Pantheons first and well respected among their demigod equivalents, the only male demigod to have respect of Artemis, only one to be favored by so many Gods on the Olympian Council and that's only pre-Heroes of Olympus.

The Survivor of Tartarus, the demigod whose blood even Gaia wanted to wake to due to his power, the first and only Greek to be made a Praetor and now two times savior of Olympus. This is all without mentioning his singular and unique feats, and he has many.

AND THIS IS WHAT RICK DOES WITH HIS CHARACTER ARC????

Had Rick not been so obsessed with shoving Percabeth down our throats, he could have totally made Seafam Arc, and all our fics would have not been fics. We wouldn't even have needed headcanons for seafam cause Amphitrite and Triton and all of Atlantis would have absolutely loved him cause come on, it's Percy. It's impossible not to love him. So let's assume that's exactly what happened.

So the whole of Atlantis, Seafam, and most of the Olympian Gods love Percy and not to mention Sally and Paul, who are also very protective of Percy.

The new Lord of the Wild is his best friend, The Lieutenant of Artemis is his other best friend and cousin, both the children of Hades/Pluto are his best friends/cousins, the only other demigod to be blessed by Poseidon with a rare gift is also his very close friend not to mention other members of the Seven also respect him greatly and owe him quite a bit.

Hestia, Apollo, Hermes, Aphrodite, Artemis,Hades, Hepheastus, and even Dionysus and River gods either openly favor him or have much respect for him. (Poseidon and the Seafam are implied, Bob and Damasen as well).

This isn't even taking into account all the pegasi and nymphs and sea creatures who love him and that he has a literal hell hound.

Percy not only has friends in high places and the favor of literal gods on top of being Poseidon's favorite son as told by Poseidon himself, all the people with special abilities are all close friends with him.

In Riordanverse, Percy is like the only person you don't want to cross like ever.

So you know logically if anyone needs an explanation as to why Annabeth isn't a good match for him and someone like Rachel would have fit much better. A mortal blessed with sight much like his Mother later turned Oracle of Delphi, the girl who saved his life in literally the very first two encounters they have, a girl under protection of Olympians and blessed by Apollo?

Apollo could have definitely waived the celibacy rule as there have been mentions of married women later becoming oracles in Greek mythology( May Castellan too if you count the books) and that the rule is only to prove devotion to the God nothing more. And if Apollo can't, then Delphi, who is a spirit older than Gods themselves, could just change allegiances. She once belonged to Poseidons' domain, so there's that.

But since I am biased in favor of Rachel, literally any other ship but Percabeth would have been logical and fitting and better off compatibility wise.

they had spent all day making things were perfect for you. it had to be perfect. they had spent years, countless days fighting monsters and on the brink of death, but when it came to you they weren’t as brave as they thought. it wasn’t often annabeth could disregard her plans but this was a whole new battle to face. don’t get them wrong they wouldn’t have it any other way. but would you?

it was shocking the way you made the couple spin and turn at your presence and just the mere thought of you. the way your face looked when you’d laugh, your cheeks moving up to your eyes, and how much joy filled their stomach when you did. beautiful wasn’t the word but it was all they could say when you were much more then beautiful to them.

so much about you was engraved to their memory. they couldn’t spend much longer without asking you to be theirs even if you rejected them, it was what they had to do. they would be heartbroken but at least they wouldn’t have to hide it anymore.

rose petals lead a path through the woods as candles spread a few feet away from each other every step you took. someone had left you a note on your bed and told you to meet them in the woods, lucky you had a hint as to where to go. so you followed the trail through the woods with a high heartbeat.

the faces you hoped to see were of the golden couple at camp, your best friends. percy and annabeth were who you belonged to even if they didn’t know it. your heart longed for them.

“is this okay?” Percy looked at you with puppy eyes full of fear. annabeth didn’t look much better as she hooked her hands on her jeans and tugged at them to calm herself.

“more then I could have asked for,” you lean down to smell the flower bouquet they had made for you.

“good, we worked on it all week— I mean, but that we weren’t stressing about this…unless you want that-” he stumbled over his words when annabeth elbowed him.

you giggle at them and touch over the soft petals, they find themselves staring again at you. the sounds coming from your lips always made their world stop. “what he is trying to say, is that we want you to be ours- we want to take you out on a date.” Her lips looked soft when she smiled.

“Since tomorrow is Valentine’s Day we thought we could ask you to be ours? We’ll spoil you all day, anything you want.”

honestly, it wasn’t a question for you. there was only one answer for you but you still hesitate to say it. all you wanted was for a chance with them and now you had it— it was all to much. how would that work. what if you messed it up. they could get tired of you easily. but that’s all it was, a doubt of the future that might come to be.

ok so this might be more prominent on pjotwt than the reddit or tumblr parts of the fandom but the whole joke/meme thing of “annabeth fell first but percy fell harder!!!” or “percy fell first and hard!!” and the just the general way percabeth is portrayed in the succinct jokes kind of tickles my hardass brain the wrong way.

i’m so sorry to all percy/annabeth fell first/harder truthers but i kinda hate caricaturing their relationship into these fixed loser-in-love checkboxes because, well, i don’t think it matters who fell first but only that they BOTH should have fallen equally as hard. ik the “harder” is to kinda balance the, uhhhh, loser energy of the one who fell “first” but again, something rubs me the wrong way about the jokes.

i love percabeth because they stand on equal footing, love each other equally as intensely and are the perfect foils and thereby strengths of each other.

and no, percy is not a yes-man for annabeth–he gets angry at her, annoyed by some of her choices, calls her out when it matters. it would not have made him a better boyfriend if he always just followed along with whatever annabeth wanted as some people portray him. that would have been devastating for their relationship. annabeth is not perfect, she is so wonderfully, beautifully, humanly flawed but she tries her very best to be a good partner for percy, as does he for her, and that's why they’re so special to me.

i see these captions of 12 yr old percy & annabeth from the show–a smug tone saying percy doesn’t know that he will give up godhood for the girl who he currently wishes would leave him alone or that annabeth doesn’t know that she will cry her heart out for the boy she currently is annoyed by and that––that puts everything into perspective. percy and annabeth don’t instantly like each other. they warm up gradually, become friends and then lovers.

they are allowed to be pissed at, annoyed by, tired of each other. they are allowed to disagree with each other. they are allowed to be minor rivals. they are allowed to hurt each other. all this, they are allowed to do and will do before and after they get together. their relationship will mature and so will they but their dynamic is so much more than just simple simping, or yes-manning.

because most important of all is that they challenge each other.

they are very different people who still managed to find common ground to nurture their relationship.

they fell for each other after they got to know each other. but again, it really doesn’t matter to me when which one fell for the other because i know that when they did, they fell equally as hard.

so yeah, i hope i’m not ruining the fun of the jokes but i’m anal and get annoyed by really small things so. you do you, really.

Oooh opinions on the new pjo show so far? Specifically the most recent ep?

oh my god it is so great

like the show overall is everything i wished and more, even tho, yes there are scenes that arent in it that wouldve been great BUT we got sooooo many other scene we never wouldve gotten

like the scenes in the most recent episode. because we have to think realistically here, you cant make the transformation from the book to the series perfect and have everything like it was in the book so the best thing is to have the author do these necessary changes so it wont fuck up the story too much. thats exactly what they did ( they also made it more modern, like not everything that was fine in 2005 is fine now, they also show more modern struggles)

and the most recent episode is just so important to me tbh. walker and leah especially absolutely killed it! the ares casting is literally perfect (THATS MY FATHER RIGHT THERE!) and grover is just so special and everything we needed.

also the seaweed brain... i screamed... loudly... my family was concerned for my wellbeing

I was listening to some songs and i had an ideia to write a perachel fanfic with Peter Pan.

Percy and Rachel would find an old book of fairytales in the Hecate's cabin and they would open it in a specific one about a boy that never wanted to grow up. But, there is something written under it, a question "Would you want to live many adventures and stay forever young?". Rachel would answer yes animated because of the heat of the moment. It was not totally serious, just a little part since she always wanted to experience the same thing Percy and the demigods had. So, the book shines a bright light around the camp.

Both are sent to Peter Pan's world with no memories of themselves. They are Peter and Wendy. My story will have some things from Peter Pan's, but i'll try to change many things maybe (or not. I don't know. I usually don't plan my stories, so i don't know how they will go)

Will (Michael) and Jason (John) would be Rachel's brothers. Luke (Felix) would be Percy's right hand or best friend maybe, the second in command. There could be some original lost boys, the ones from Peter Pan's story and other characters from PJO like Leo and Nico (All the characters from PJO would have different names in the story). Will likes Nico when he arrives in neverland. Clarisse could be a friend of Rachel at school. They would be considered the excluded or weird ones. Annabeth and Piper would be.... i can't say here to not get people mad. Sorry.

Almost in the end or in the middle of my story, Percy and Rachel would have that kiss and they would remember about themselves. But, they are still stuck in the story and have to think a way to get out. Hazel, Frank and Reyna weren't affected since they were in Jupiter Camp. They are trying to think about how they can help their friends. Will they be able to find a survivor from Camp Half Blood like a daughter of Hecate maybe? Or will they be able to do this by themselves? 🤔🤔

Obs: Luke is still dead, so the one in the story is a fake one. If or when Percy and his friends are saved, Percy would remember the Luke he met in the story as Peter. The one who never betrayed them. Percy knows that the friendship he had with the fake Luke could be almost the same he would have had with the real Luke.

I gave some spoilers? Yes. But, who cares? Only few people read my stories, so i'm good. This is just a note of my ideias for my next story. I got inspired by the live actions of Peter Pan. I already said that movies and songs inspire me...literally! The characters from PJO could also be deaged inside Peter Pan's story since many of them are adults. If or when they return back, they would come back to normal with their real ages and everything. Chiron could be Captain Hook and Dionysus... Mr.Smee 😅😊. After getting her memories back, Rachel would feel bad since it all happened because of her and Percy would comfort Rachel and show her that she doesn't need to have adventures in her life to be someone special. The fake Luke would be created by the island because it saw that deep down in "Peter's heart", he missed the friendship he could have had with "Felix (Luke)."

Unfortunately, Percy and Annabeth are still dating. So, i don't know if i make the couple break up since both liked Rachel and Piper in the story a little bit. Or Percabeth could still be together and Percy and Rachel stare at each other, knowing that something happened between them in the story. They understand that everything that happened in the story, it stays there. Both didn't know this would be their last time together. Percy and Annabeth come back to their college. Percy and Rachel never forgot what happened to them. Percy and Annabeth get killed months later by monsters. They could have a last moment together smiling at each other or maybe holding hands(I don't know. Not a big fan of the couple. Percabeth's death would have something very significative behind it). Rachel gets sad and moves on with her life as an oracle. Percy becomes a memory of a boy Rachel met once...a boy that wanted to grow up. She kept drawing all her times together with Percy that happened real life and in Peter Pan's story. She would also tell her stories about the boy that wanted to grow up for the new kids of the camp.

as a book reader i ADORE the series but if theres one thing i love more than anything is seeing baby percabeth from an unbiased perspective bc theyre so cute but also percy is so LAME like hes so embarrassing i love him. like in the books hes just like yeah i think she looks like a princess and we only hear his internal thoughts so i LOVEEE actually seeing how awkward he is with his crush on annabeth.

its so cute and i honestly think pretty important for the viewers because it rlly helps to drive how young they all are and how insane it is that theyre being put in these crazy situations. like his dorky face when annabeth smiled when he started singing the consensus song? his voice cracking after annabeth laughed at his potty joke?? the look of brief panic on his face when he realized grover saw the face he was making when he hugged annabeth back followed by the really awkward smile??? this might be a weird post, and I know they can’t really be compared, but which ship is better? Percabeth, or Solangelo?

I can argue for both of them. Percabeth just has more in general. Like throughout pjo AND hoo (sometimes mentioned in toa and mcga) they’re having these little moments of love together. I think the slow burn also makes it so much better. In the lightning thief, they’re obviously gonna become more. In the Sea of monsters, they have that moment in Siren Bay and Percy was simping for her at Circe’s Island. Obviously in the Titan’s curse he’s just down bad at this point. Then the rest of the series is just them being too oblivious to get together UNTIL THE LAST BOOK. (I would mention everything in hoo but it’s just too much so I’ll mention the main things) They go through Tartarus together, have the stable scene, confess love, and much more in HOO.

But on the other hand, Solangelo is so good too. It’s opposites attract. I think one of the nice things about them is also the fact that Nico can barely open up to anyone, and the fact that Will could get him to open up to him is so special. They also go through Tartarus together, just like Percabeth. I feel like they also get bonus points for being a gay couple because it brings me so much joy.

I can also see some bad things about these two ships. It just depends on what you like. But I wanna know…

So you know how Lockwood and Lucy got white/grey streaks in both their hair after visiting the Other Side together in TCS??

Something about that reminds me a lot of Percy and Annabeth getting matching grey streaks in both of their hair after holding up the world in Titan's Curse. And like, not just the streaks in their hair, but also the experiences and the aftermath of them.

Like, I'm decently sure both Lockwood and Lucy and Percy and Annabeth were around the same age (I think Lockwood and Lucy were like 15, while Percy and Annabeth were 13-ish), but that's not really important.

Anyway, the matching grey/white streaks represent a traumatic event in each of their lives; for Percy and Annabeth, this was holding up Atlas' world (in Annabeth's case, for over 24 hours). And for Lockwood and Lucy, this was visiting the Other Side, which was, like Percy and Annabeth's situation, something that neither of them wanted to do but had to. (And idk if it's important or not, but in pjo, it's Percy taking the world from Annabeth to protect her, and in l&co, it's Lucy's spirit cape breaking, and Lockwood helping her under his to protect her. Not super important to what I'm saying, but just kind of a similarity.

Also!!! Both of them (percabeth and locklyle) bonded over these experiences; Lucy says multiple times in TCS that, after they go to the Other Side, even though her and Lockwood had always been close, they were closer now. Like there was something unspoken, an unspoken bond type of thing. She mentions them 'sharing looks' and how she learns to read his emotions better. Which, though they'd been close before and she'd been able to do that well already, this kind of supported and added to that.

I don't really remember (because it's been almost a year since I read Titan's Curse 😭), but I am decently sure Percy and Annabeth also bonded over this!!! They, obviously, had been close previously (just like Lockwood and Lucy), but this made them closer. Like now they had something special to kind of cement their friendship (and later on, relationship!!) but it also makes me think of, when Percy says in Chalice of the Gods, that he'd never thought of being with anyone else because he and Annabeth had had such shared experiences.

And it's also clear that, no matter if Lucy chooses to leave Lockwood and Co in previous books, (even though that comes before they go to the Other Side) she'll always find her way back to Lockwood (and George) because of their shared experiences.

Obviously, Percy and Annabeth have very traumatic shared experiences (not just what happened in the Titan's Curse, but also just going to Tartarus), but the same could be said for Lockwood and Lucy; take the Annabel Ward case - George wasn't there when the house burned down (though of course that wasn't his choice or his fault), and a few more cases.

So yeah, both Percy and Annabeth and Lockwood and Lucy get closer because of these horrible shared experiences, and the matching grey/white streaks in their hair is really only the beginning of the similarities between Percy and Annabeth and Lockwood and Lucy.

It is such a funny book, my fav jokes being the 'shrek, fiona, donkey' joke and an underrated classic in my mind, the scene where percy is like "There was screaming, crying and running in circles, and that was ✨just me✨" when talking about blanche's story (its so brutally honest and funny in a vulnerable way, which I will expand later on with the vulnerable part of it). It had so many iconic moments

It was a very low stakes, slow plot. You can tell Rick wrote it for the experience of reading our fav characters again (adding on to the fact that rick was made to write it by disney as additional marketing for the show, you can tell the plot wasnt thought of much), and ive seen people get mad over it, id love to know what you think!

This is a bit of a touchy topic. I've seen the people on the internet calling percabeth abusive with the constant name calling and the physical ??violence?? ( i obviously dont agree, but thats another topic), but something I've observed that everything that anti percabeths pointed out was toned down in the book?? Another post confirms that the majority of seaweed brains in the book was from percys pov and not annabeth actually saying it (like when hes looking at her expression and saying things like 'she looked like she was trying to say,....') and also when it comes to physical 'violence' (it feels so wrong to say bc i cant find another word lolol), the only things i found while rereading were 'lightly pinched my arm' and 'nudged me with her toe' which is wayyyy more toned down than ricks usual 'swatting my arm' or 'punching me' or 'judoflipped me'

One thing I admire so much about this book is the way he's written the characters vulnerability. percys way more open when he talks about crying whereas in the books its brushed over a lot, which is something the lovely @demigods-posts pointed out. annabeth tearing up when sally compliments her on something small like a cupcake, grover scared of percy and annabeth leaving him, and ofc percy. i saw someone interpret the river god scene as a ptsd induced panic attack, and i admire how rick has written it with so much angst, but still kept it light for the tone of the books.

another thing i love is how the characters dont revolve around percy as a main character (which is probably something rick learned while writing the tv show). annabeth has hobbies of her own, she's in her dream school, she is a busy woman and good for her. grover regularly goes to camp, and has his own conflicts with his gf and stuff. sally and paul are on their own arc with the baby on the way.

the fluff needs a special mention. every moment is so cute and sweet, there are way too many instances, especially with grover and percy which there was a severe lack of in hoo. them turning to seven year olds, percy and annabeths daily night iris message routine, the domesticity of the jacksons family

Since you mentioned her, I LOVED Blanche. Iris is one of my favourite goddesses, so it was great seeing her. And I loved watching a god actually be ignored by their teenage child for once instead of the other way around. Blanche being a propel rebel with the monochrome was golden. (also, pink hummingbirds? lol)

It is obvious there wasn't much in terms of an actual plot with real structure, but it was fun and light-hearted and it does set the foundation for something in the future. Not all quests need to be high stakes, all-hands-on-deck, the world is coming undone. I liked watching the trio have semi normal lives (meeting up for smoothies after school) instead of constantly being on hero mode.

I genuinely had no clue people were upset about Percabeth's interaction in this. But seriously, violence? Did those people forget Annabeth judo-flipped Percy in New Rome, or was it okay then because it was a grand romantic gesture? How is punching someone in the arm to tell them they are being an idiot (provided you don't turn them black and blue of course) abuse? Percy and Annabeth are in a relationship, obviously they are going to be tactile with each other. Not to mention, people often nudge each other in real life and nobody shouts abuse then. I am rambling now but honestly this is the first I've heard of this and I have opinions.

I know Rick wrote the PG version, but can we talk about Zeus literally objectifying Ganymede at brunch and nobody but Hera (and Percy silently) batting an eye? Honestly, I am not a hardcore Zeus hater (although he is an a**hole) but the way Rick writes him he has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. I officially volunteer to be Hera's divorce attorney.

I really liked the idea of Annabeth having a secret fan club and having dinner with Sally, Percy and Paul every night. That was excellent.

I am already brainstorming theories about what the third book is going to be. Does it matter that WOTG isn't even out yet? Absolutely not. I kind of want it to be about Athena because her interactions with Percy are always 10/10, but that probably won't happen.

what’s your favorite pjo ship? if you don’t have one, just dynamic in general.

My favorite ship is Percabeth (tho Solangelo is a close second). I really love the progression of their relationship in the og series.

Even in tlt and som there are small moments that show how much they care about each other as friends like Annabeth opening up for the first time in the animal transport truck or the siren scene where Percy learns more about her life desires.

But my favorite Percabeth moments are in botl. I love the scene in the Athena Cabin where Annabeth is crying in Percy's arms thinking that someone is going to die on the quest. The trust she has in him is unmatched like she trusts Percy to fight beside her and she can seek comfort from him. Later in the book at Mt. St. Helens, Annabeth thinks that Percy is going to die, so she kisses him. Percy interprets it as a good luck kiss but its meant as a goodbye but also as a confession. Annabeth wants Percy to know how she feels about him before he dies even if she can't get the words out. Botl showed just how much Annabeth cared about Percy just like ttc showed how much Percy cared about her.

Throughout the series Annabeth thinks that Percy is going to die when he turns 16 but she's still there for him and cares for him the entire time. She thinks she's going to have her heart broken but she doesn't care. Then in tlo, when she knows he's not going to die from the prophecy she makes her move immediately.

The slowburn works so well and it's so nice that Rick took the time to make us love the characters as their own before making them a couple.

HoO and cotg have some great Percabeth moments too but the slowburn of the og series will always be special to me.
