Oscars POV: It was  along day of of going over data and Andrea making me and Lando color in the lines. Track limits were a bitch, but I felt worse for Lando than me. I already texted Y/N that I was on my way back to the hotel, and I would bring dinner. She hadn’t texted back but, it wasn’t out of the ordinary. Working remotely had it’s perks, like getting to travel with me to almost every race. 
I struggle to open the door with everything in my hand, and I expected for Y/N  to run and help as soon as I was through the door. Instead, I was met with silence, the lights were dimmed and I didn’t see her anywhere. I set things down on the dresser and called her name a few times. “Babe? Y/N?” I sat on the bed heavily, and heard a small groan. I turned to face the lump on the bed, that I missed the first time, and saw her head poking out the top. I pulled the blankets away from her face and saw a familiar number on the back of her hoodie. My number to be exact, she’s wearing my hoodie. We haven’t been together long, well,  10 months to be exact. I guess that could be a long time. Either way, she hasn’t worn anything of mine yet, I mean she has her own Mclaren merch and she looks amazing in it. But it’s a different feeling when she’s wearing my clothes, and she smells like me. It makes me chest warm and fuzzy. 
Instead of waking her, I change out of my own gear and climb into bed next to her. She makes a small noise when I pull her back against me, but settles as soon as I kiss her temple and squeeze her waist. I push my face into her neck, taking in her scent mixed with mine. This…this was a different feeling then just seeing her in my clothes this was..this stirred something new in him. 
He didn’t ponder for long, the alluring smells and feelings pulled him into sleep. 
He texted her the next day to let her know that a car would be there to pick her up before the race started. He had to be in the garage extra early to meet with Zak and his strategist. Starting P1 was big, huge even. As a rookie I was not supposed to be having this great of a season, 2 podiums in a row? Unheard of. 
It was 15 min until the race started and I made my way out of the garage to see everyone before I started my last minute prep. I spotted Y/N talking to one of my engineers and laughing and fuck me did she look gorgeous. She’s wearing my team shirt with my name and number on it, how do you know it’s yours do you ask? Because it’s about three sizes to big on her-and she’s got my favorite pair of jeans she owns on, they’re baggy and they make her look quite tall. And her hair is in a little half do thing, she’s got braids framing her face with ribbons tied at the end. She knows I love when she uses bows in her hair, makes her look so innocent and pure. 
She found me and waved me over. “Osc!” My legs were on auto pilot, my body magnetized to hers and she wrapped me in a hug. “Hi baby, glad you made it. Is that my shirt?” I asked nonchalantly. She pulls away, “yeah sorry, the rest of my papaya things were dirty.” She frowns and looks down. “I should have asked first I’m sor-” 
“No hey, I love it. You don’t ever have to ask to wear my clothes baby.” She blushed and looked down at her feet. I giggled at her reaction, and I lean forward to kiss her forehead. One of my hands found it;s way under her shirt (read: mine) to rest along her stomach. It was nothing new for either of us, it was a comfort to both. However, what was new was a thick band where her underwear would be. Upon furher investigation, oh fuck oh fuck she’s wearing my boxers. For fucks sake mate do not get a boner right now, it is not the time. 
“Is there anything of mine you aren’t wearing? Your dedicated, boxers and everything.” She looked up at me with a guilty look. “I was in a rush this morning, I over slept big time,  and it was the first bottoms I found. The jeans are mine and my soxs-well the socks are Lando’s merch. The white ones with the ‘LN4’ stitched on the side.” As she lifted her pant leg so I could see, a nasty feeling bloomed in my chest. I didn’t like that she was wearing anything associated with Lando. 
“You know what, I have some socks in my drivers room, you can wear those. No need to wear those pesky things.” I started to pull her towards the hallway that led to my room when she stopped me once we were out of earshot of people. “Oscar! What is going on love? You seemed fine just a minute ago, now your in a tizzy.” She had that stance, the mom stance is what I affectionately called it. Hands on her hips, one leg popped out, not good. 
I sighed, “I just, your MY y/n, not Landos. I want you to wear my things.” I mumbled the last part, as if she wouldn’t catch on. 
Y/N pouted and cupped my cheeks, pushing up on her toes to kiss me.

I laughed at her statement. I was being stupid, I was the one that went home with her every night, not Lando, not anyone.

P2, P fucking 2. The gap between me and Max was still big but,  managed to defend myself against my own teammate. 
After the podium celebrations and I had packed up my things to leave, I found Y/N consoling Lando, giving him a small sympathy pat. She said her goodbyes and made her way over to me, taking her bag and coat from me. “Everything okay?” I nodded over to Lando. “Yeah he was just giving me more socks, you jealous?” Y/N wiggled her eyebrows and giggled. I laughed along with her, shaking my head, and started to pull her towards the waiting car. “Good because you, get to pull all your clothes off me when we get back.” I whipped my head towards her. She already had a slight flush on her cheeks, rocking on her heels as we stood outside the car. I didn’t even know what to say yet, I just ushered her in the backseat and urged the driver to move as fast as he could. 
I pushed Y/N through the door of our hotel room, locking it and using the DND sign. I was about to wreck her and I did not need anyone knocking in the morning. 
I had her up against the wall, opposite of the bed. Her hands were in my hair, tugging every which way, taking control of the kiss. I let her think that she was in charge for a couple of more kisses before I pushed off the wall and pulled her onto the bed. Y/N squealed as I landed on top of her, my hands went under her shirt, pushing it up her chest and leaving small marks as more skin was exposed. “Baby… need you inside me please.”

Carlos chuckled, still cradling the kitten. “Only because I have the best partner.” he replied, his eyes sparkling as he looked at her.
Y/n couldn’t help but smile at the exchange. It was these small, tender moments between Carlos and Jane that made her heart swell with affection for them. Carlos grinned, nodding in agreement. “About time, too. I was starting to think we’d have to push them together ourselves.”

“Hi, could you tell me till when is this place open?” The movie was supposed to go on till 8, and I was hoping I could still come to the bookshop and get my list.
“Till 8.” The cashier replied without looking up.
“Shit.”
He looked up, his face in a frown, as his dark eyes questioned the sudden curse word, I blurted instinctively, “Can I help you?”
“Would it be possible to keep the shop open for like ten more minutes?” Hoping he saw the desperation in my eyes. “Yoongi…” I read his name tag, “I have a list of books to buy, I promise, but I have a movie to catch before and…”
“You can take books inside the hall.” He said, again in his deadpan voice. “They let you.”
“Oh, I know, I just,” How will I explain this? “I’m on a date, or I have a date. And, it’ll be too nerdy, I think if I take like ten books inside the hall. And, it’s arranged by my parents, so I gotta be on my best behaviour which means I gotta act a certain way, and umm, carrying a heavy bag of books will not work if that makes sense.”
“It doesn’t,” Yoongi replied.
“Just till 8:10. The movie finishes at 8 so I promise I’ll be here at 8:02 and be out of here before 8:10!” I tried to reason with him.
“You are going to run out of the hall and be here in 2 mins after your movie end?” He repeated, and I nodded my head. “Not gonna say bye to your date?” He smirked.
“Shit.”
Yoongi's smile reached his eyes, “Did you say you want to buy ten books?” I nodded. “You have a list?”
“It’s in my phone,” where was this going?
“Give it to me, and I’ll keep them ready.” He put out the placard with the shop’s email. “Till 8:20, not a minute late.”
“Oh my gosh, yes, thank you so much!” I quickly snapped a picture of the email, “I’ll just email this to you!” I said, running out of the shop.
Turns out, this guy was worse off than the previous date I had been on. I really thought watching a movie will make this date fun, and bring out character, but my mother’s next-man-I-should-be-considering-to-date was here in a suit, looking extremely out of place, and typed on his phone for the major part of the movie. I wanted to ask why he bothered to turn up since we had spoken ten lines to each other, and he took a call between these lines, where he spoke way more, but he wasn’t interesting enough for this introspection.
“Okay, so thanks for the movie,” It was 8:01.
“Yeah, this was fun. Let me walk you to your car,” he said between sending another message.
“I’m actually going to go to the bookshop.”
“It’s going to be closed right now.” Most of the shops were shutting down around us.
“The person at the store told me he will keep it open.” Wow, we are at 15 lines.
“I’ll walk you till there, then.” He nodded. He got another call on the way, and I increased my pace.
The door of the shop was open, and I hoped he would leave me here and go on with his texting.
“It’s a friend’s birthday tomorrow, and I’m planning it,” my date finally wrapped his call after making me stand another minute in front of the shop. It was 8:07, and I could see Yoongi prepping to close the store. “But, this was fun. We should do this again! Why don’t you come for-“
“Why?” I said, losing my patience. “Why should we do this again?”
“You didn’t like a movie?” He asked, laughing.
“I don’t need a date to watch a movie.”
“We can do something else, then,” He said, dismissing my comment. His phone started ringing again.
“No, once was enough. I don’t think I need to see you text in another setting.” I said. “Thanks for today, though. I’ll see you around.” I waved and took a step inside the store.
“I told you that I’m planning a party tomorrow,” He yelled, annoyed.
“And I just told you that a second date is not happening. Have a great party!” I pushed the shop door so it’d close on his face, but it was too slow for it to have that BANG effect.
I turned around to see, Yoongi staring at me, “Sorry, was I not supposed to close the door?”
“No, close away. He is still standing there, though,” Yoongi pointed at the door.
“I can’t turn around. It’ll ruin my swag,” thankfully, Yoongi looked amused.
“Here are your books,” He put three big bags in front of me. “15 in total, you can check, of course,” He pushed them towards me. “He is still standing outside, by the way. Was the date that bad?” I’m sure my face looked more confused than it really was, but the bag was missing a few books. “I kinda heard your interaction.”
“He was on his phone the entire time. Why come on a date if you can’t give your time?” I explained, “A few books are missing. Did you get the second screenshot too?”
“Yeah, they are out of stock. Should be coming in next week cause I just placed an order for them.” Yoongi helped put the books back in the bag.
“No worries, I just want to stop going on these stupid dates. My mother calls it networking? Something I should be doing in a new city, but I’m not making friends like this. And he was just rude. Fuck, is he still out there?” I couldn’t turn back, but Yoongi’s face had a small, pitiful smile as he nodded.
“I can’t go out with these books. Why isn’t he leaving!”
“Why can’t you go out with these books? The date was a failure. Who cares?” He shrugs.
“No, 'cause he will go back and tell his friends that I was the unsociable one who walked out with three huge bags of books, and who does that on a date? But the actual narrative will be that he was the asshole who answered five calls while the movie was going on!”
“And how will you tell this narrative to all the people?” Yoongi laughed, handing me the bill, “I mean, you are new in the city, right? How will these ‘people’ know?”
“I was just going to tell my mother,” I shrugged. “The circle of the rich and powerful is tiny. It will trickle down from my mother to her friends, to the kids, and there will be another narrative of why I’m declining a date with the son of the owner of Exon Internationals.”
“Oh, is that Jae?” Yoongi looked over my shoulder again, and why was this man not leaving? “Looked familiar…”
“You know him?” Shocked cause why would a bookshop cashier know my date? I didn’t know him before, I was shown his face and given his credentials either.
“It’s a tiny circle,” Yoongi smiled. “So, you can’t walk out with these books?” I shook my head. “Okay, I’ll walk out with you then? These will be my books.” He switched off the computer and took his name tag off. “Give me a second,” He said, walking to the backroom. He came out in a second, switching off the lights, with his blazer in his arms. I couldn’t help checking him out. He was lean, but his arms looked strong. Not to mention, he was handsome, way more than serial texter Jae.
“Let’s go?” He took the bags off the counter and walked towards the door. Jae was still there, and he looked up as we came out of the store.
“Yoongi! Hey man! What are you doing here?” Jae exclaimed the most animated he had been tonight.
“It’s my store,” Yoongi said as he entered the lock code in the system. “How have you been? I heard about the London meeting.” What was happening? How did Yoongi know him?
“Yeah, man! But dad is handling that! What a blunder, man. I gotta learn from you!” Jae was buttering Yoongi up. He looked almost submissive as Yoongi stood tall in front of him. “But, what are you doing here? Dad told me you visited stores, but you’re like fully working and all.”
“I’m so confused,” I mumbled, looking between both of them.
“Hey! You know him. This is Min Yoongi. He is the prince in line to take over the Min Books!” Jae was indeed a fan, it seems. Min Books, a chain of mega bookstores. They were redefining reading, as the articles will tell you.
“Prince?” Yoongi coughed. “You’re always funny, Jae. Shall we walk to your car?” Yoongi looked at me.
“I took a cab,” I deadpanned.
“I’ll drive you then. Mind holding my bags for me? It’s getting chilly,” Yoongi handed me the bags as he wore his blazer. “It was nice seeing you, Jae.” He shook Jae’s hand, who still was looking at Yoongi like he was a rockstar. “Come on,” He took the bags from me and started walking towards the parking lot.
I quickly looked at Jae, who looked at me, wanting to say something, but I promptly muttered bye and ran behind Yoongi. “Here, let me take these,” I asked, pulling the bags.
“It’s no problem at all,” Yoongi smiled.
“Thank you for saving me there. You are quite the rockstar.” I said, catching up to his speed. “I’ll need to go the opposite way for the cab though…”
“I’ll leave you home…if that is okay with you?” He stopped.
“You’re Min Yoongi…” I looked at him, my cashier for the day.
“I am.”
“You’re on my mother’s list of people I should date…”
“L/N?” He questioned like he didn’t bill the books to my name. “I think we are scheduled for next Friday?” His smile really does reach his eyes.

Did you happen to make Kataifi at home and have some leftover from the pastry? Don't throw it away; nothing goes to waste.
Did you make your own or you bought some Kaimaki Ice cream? Then you can deliciously wrap it with the roasted, shredded Kataifi and some beautifully roasted pistachios and you will have an amazingly garnished new ice cream with just 3 ingredients!
Let me show you how.

INGREDIENTS:
·      3 medium scoops/balls Kaimaki Ice Cream (homemade or store bought)
·      Approx. 25 gr. / 1 oz shredded Kataifi Pastry
·      25 gr. / 1 oz Pistachio nuts, finely chopped

METHOD:
A.    Roast the pistachios and Kataifi pastry:
1.     Start by spreading the chopped pistachios in a lined baking tray.
2.     Place tray and roast pistachios in a preheated oven FAN @190 ℃/ 375 ℉ first for 5'.
3.     Flip and roast them for 2'-3' more (total: 8', depending on the oven).
4.     Remove from the oven, leaving tray on the kitchen bench to let pistachios cool down completely.

5.     Remove from the tray and place them in a small bowl. Reserve.
6.     Take the leftovers from your Kataifi pastry (which should be stored in plastic to prevent them from drying out).
7.     Place them in the same lined tray. Detangle the kataifi pastry (dough) by pulling apart the hair-like strands with your hands. Spread them out gently if they clump together and then with your scissors, cut them in very small pieces.

8.     Now place the tray in the hot oven and roast the shredded kataifi in the preheated oven FAN @190 ℃/ 375 ℉ for 5' first.
9.     Flip them and roast for 5'-7' more (total: 10'-12', depending on the oven).
10.  Remove from the oven, leaving tray on the kitchen bench to let shredded kataifi cool down completely.

11.  At this point, if preparing ahead, you can store both garnishes at room temp. for a day.
 
B.    Prepare the specially garnished ice cream:
12.  Bring the 3 medium sized balls of Kaimaki Ice cream from the freezer.
13.  Quickly, with your gloved hands, roll each ball in the tray with the spread, roasted kataifi until the ball is completely covered with it. Repeat for the other 2 balls.

14.  Place the wrapped balls in a serving plate and garnish by sprinkling the rest of roasted kataifi around them.  
15.  For the finishing touch, sprinkle the reserved pistachios on top. Ready to be served.
 
C. Serving instruction:
This ice cream should be served immediately after you roll the balls.

Alternatively, you can make the rolling ahead and return to freezer (without sprinkling the pistachios) for 1 day max. otherwise kataifi won't be crispy anymore.
An amazing combo of the renowned Greek Ice cream with the undertones of the amazing mastic and Sahlep and a chewy, stretchy texture with the crunchiness of the roasted Kataifi and the earthy flavor and spicy hint of pistachios.

• 3 μεσαίες μπάλες Παγωτό Καϊμάκι (σπιτικό ή αγορασμένο)
• Περίπου 25 γρ. / 1 oz φύλλο Καταΐφι
• 25 γρ. / 1 oz Φιστίκια Αιγίνης, ψιλοκομμένα

ΜΕΘΟΔΟΣ:
Α. Ψήστε τα φιστίκια Αιγίνης και το φύλλο Καταΐφι:
1. Ξεκινήστε απλώνοντας τα ψιλοκομμένα φιστίκια Αιγίνης σε ταψί στρωμένο με λαδόκολλα.
2. Τοποθετήστε το ταψί και καβουρδίστε τα φιστίκια Αιγίνης σε προθερμασμένο φούρνο στον αέρα @190 ℃/ 375 ℉ πρώτα για 5'.
3. Αναποδογυρίστε τα και ψήστε τα για 2'-3' ακόμα (σύνολο: 8', ανάλογα με τον φούρνο).
4. Βγάλτε τα από το φούρνο αφήνοντας το ταψί στον πάγκο της κουζίνας για να κρυώσουν εντελώς τα φιστίκια.

5. Αφαιρέστε τα από το ταψί και βάλτε τα σε ένα μικρό μπολ. Κρατήστε τα στην άκρη.
6. Πάρτε τα υπολείμματα από το φύλλο Καταΐφι (τα οποία πρέπει να φυλάσσονται σε πλαστικό για να μην ξεραθούν).
7. Απλώστε τα στο ίδιο στρωμένο ταψί. Ξεμπερδέψτε το φύλλο καταΐφι, ξένοντας και τραβώντας τα "μαλλιά" με τα χέρια σας. Απλώστε τα απαλά αν σβολιάζουν μεταξύ τους και μετά με το ψαλίδι σας κόψτε τα σε πολύ μικρά κομμάτια.

8. Τώρα τοποθετήστε το ταψί στον ζεστό φούρνο και καβουρδίστε το ψιλοκομμένο φύλλο καταΐφι στον προθερμασμένο φούρνο στον αέρα @190 ℃/ 375 ℉ αρχικά για 5'.
9. Αναποδογυρίστε τα και ψήστε για 5'-7' ακόμα (σύνολο: 10'-12', ανάλογα με τον φούρνο).
10. Βγάλτε από το φούρνο αφήνοντας το ταψί στον πάγκο της κουζίνας για να κρυώσει τελείως το ψιλοκομμένο, καβουρδισμένο φύλλο καταΐφι.

11. Σε αυτό το σημείο, εάν ετοιμάζετε εκ των προτέρων, μπορείτε να φυλάξετε και τις δύο γαρνιτούρες σε θερμοκρασία δωματίου, για μια μέρα.
 
Β. Ετοιμάστε το σπέσιαλ γαρνιρισμένο παγωτό:
12. Βγάλτε τις 3 μπάλες παγωτό Καϊμάκι από την κατάψυξη.
13. Αμέσως, με τα χέρια σας ντυμένα με γάντια, κυλήστε κάθε μπάλα μέσα στο ταψί με το ψιλοκομμένο φύλλο καταΐφι μέχρι να καλυφθεί και να τυλιχθεί τελείως η μπάλα με αυτό. Επαναλάβετε για τις άλλες 2 μπάλες.

14. Τοποθετήστε τις τυλιγμένες μπάλες σε πιάτο σερβιρίσματος και γαρνίρετε πασπαλίζοντας τριγύρω τους το υπόλοιπο καβουρδισμένο καταΐφι.
15. Σα τελευταία πινελιά, πασπαλίστε από πάνω τα κρατημένα φιστίκια Αιγίνης. Έτοιμο για σερβίρισμα.
 
Γ. Οδηγίες σερβιρίσματος:
Αυτό το παγωτό πρέπει να σερβίρεται αμέσως μόλις τυλίξετε τις μπάλες.

Εναλλακτικά, μπορείτε να τυλίξετε τις μπάλες πιο μπροστά και να επιστρέψετε το παγωτό στην κατάψυξη (χωρίς να πασπαλίσετε τα φιστίκια) για 1 ημέρα το πολύ, αλλιώς το καταΐφι δεν θα είναι πια τραγανό.
Ένας εκπληκτικός συνδυασμός του φημισμένου Παγωτού με τους υποτόνους της εκπληκτικής μαστίχας και του Σαλεπιού και μαστιχωτή, ελαστική υφή με την τραγανότητα από το καβουρδισμένο φύλλο Καταΐφι και τη γήινη γεύση και πικάντικη νότα των φιστικιών.

Creamy Garlic Chicken Breast
Prep Time 15 mins Cook Time 20 mins Total Time 35 mins Servings: 4 people
Ingredients
For The Chicken:
    2-3 large boneless and skinless chicken breasts halved horizontally to make 4
    4 tablespoons flour (all purpose or plain)
    4 tablespoons finely grated fresh Parmesan cheese
    2 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon garlic powder
    1/2 teaspoon Black cracked pepper
For The Sauce:
    5 tablespoons olive oil
    2 tablespoons butter
    1 small onion finely chopped
    1 whole head of garlic peeled and divided into 10-12 cloves
    1 1/4 cup chicken broth (stock)
    1 cup half and half or heavy cream (or evaporated milk)
    1/2 cup finely grated fresh Parmesan cheese
    2 tablespoons fresh parsley, to serve
Instructions
    Season the chicken with salt, garlic powder and pepper.
    In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, parmesan cheese. Dredge chicken in the flour mixture; shake off excess.
    Heat 2 tablespoons of oil and 1 tablespoon butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat until pan is nearly smoking. Swirl pan to coat evenly.
    Fry 2-3 chicken breasts until golden on each side, cooked through and no longer pink (about 4-5 minutes each side, depending on the thickness of your chicken). Transfer to a warm plate. Set aside.
    Wipe pan over with a sheet of paper towel. Repeat with remaining oil, butter and chicken breasts. When cooked, transfer the chicken onto the same plate.
    Reduce heat to medium. Sauté the onion in the remaining oil/juices in the pan until softened.
    Smash 6 whole cloves of garlic with the blunt edge of the back of a knife
    Add the remaining oil to the pan and heat through, mixing it through the onions. Sauté smashed garlic cloves and whole garlic cloves until fragrant, about 2-3 minutes. Add the broth to deglaze the pan. Scrape up any browned bits and let simmer and reduce to half, about 5 minutes.
    Reduce heat to medium-low. Pour in the cream. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer and season with salt and pepper to your taste.
    Mix in the parmesan cheese. Continue cooking gently for about 2 minutes until cheese melts. Add the chicken back into the pan. Let simmer for a further minute to thicken the sauce to your liking and soak up all of the flavours.
    Garnish with parsley and a little black cracked pepper.
    Serve over pasta, cauliflower mash, zucchini noodles, rice or mashed potatoes.

Peppernuts: Connecting With the Ancestors... 
On the Mennonite side of my family, the surnames that pop up are largely Belgian, Dutch, and Low German. Peppernuts, or Pfeffernüsse are tiny cookies that are about as old as the spice trade, and would have likely been an ancestral tradition in my family going back as much as 500 years.
My grandmother was always the one to make these for the winter holiday season. If my cousins or I would ask if we can help with the cookies and the zwieback buns, grandma would inevitably tell us to go play and she’d take care of it all. I never realized until she passed away in 2009 that this meant that she wasn’t passing the traditions down at all. When she was in hospice I had asked for her zwieback recipe, and she was happy that I wanted to take on that tradition, but it meant that I can never ask her questions about the confusing details. 
Not only was she the first in our lineage to write the recipe down, but there were notes on the side written in Low German, which is markedly different than modern High German. Low German (AKA Plautdietsch) doesn’t really have much for translation resources, and I only know a Low German a nursery rhyme that doesn’t really even exist anymore. But this isn’t about the zwieback, this is about the peppernuts! My mom rediscovered grandma’s peppernuts recipe about two years ago, so both her, my sister, and I started making them. Although technology has advanced, it still helps me connect with the ancestors.
These little aromatic and spiced cookies are really easy to make if you have one extra helper after the dough is ready. One batch easily makes like 400 cookies, I kid you not – but they’re supposed to be small, coming out like the size of a 4 or 6 notched Lego block. They’re supposed to be hard cookies, at least that’s how grandma liked them. Kept you from eating more than 5 in one sitting because they would make your jaw hurt. Tonight’s batch was too big to fit into a one gallon ice cream bucket, so assuming I’m the only one that made them this year, I’ll be sharing them with the family at their Christmas dinner. Without further ado, here is the recipe:
Ancestral Peppernut (Pfeffernüsse) Recipe
There are so many variants, so substitute* as needed.
PREP: ½ cup coffee 1 tsp baking soda stirred into coffee
MIX: 1 cup butter 1 cup sugar 2 cups brown sugar 2 eggs, beaten 1 tsp anise extract
ADD: 5 & ¼ cups flour
SMALL BOWL: 1 tsp salt 1 tsp fine black or white pepper ½ tsp allspice 1 tsp cinnamon
Add dry spices to batter. Add the soda-coffee after mixing in most of the flour (gives the coffee time to cool so it doesn't cook the eggs). Burn out the motor in your hand mixer and finish mixing the dough by hand. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap or wax paper and chill until the temperature is consistent throughout (at least 30 min). Take small handfuls of dough at a time (no larger than a ping-pong ball) and roll into half-inch thick logs (between the thickness if your little finger but no larger than the thickness of a washable marker). Cut the dough rope into square (or then roll them into round) pieces. If rounded, no wider than a dime. They will expand to about the size of a quarter in diameter. Place pieces on cookie sheet (bakers paper helps) one inch apart.
Bake at 350° for 10-15 minutes or until golden-brown. Once cool, the cookies are supposed to be almost hard like biscotti, which is why it's important to keep them bite-sized in order to break fewer teeth at once. Recipe makes several hundred. Store at room temp for 1 week, then freeze for up to a month. Dip in coffee or tea to soften, or enjoy them as they fossilize with each passing day.
*Other recipes add any combination of the following in ½ or 1 tsp of: nutmeg, ground cloves, ground ginger, and/or vanilla extract.

1/100 Days of Productivity
So I basically been doing this all year, being super productive and spending so much time studying, working, exercising and meal prepping and some days I feel like it was not enough, but looking back I think this would be a good challenge to keep me motivated (as the screenshot of my grades from field school :'), because I have to be kind with myself, I am doing the best I can with the tools I have. I feel proud of me because going to a new country, language, culture, start from 0 is not easy, but I have been up to the challenge, I have visualize myself succeeding and that is what I am doing.
So, starting yesterday Sunday November 5 as my start date what I have accomplished:
 ☑ I wake up early and meditate
 ☑ I cook breakfast, lunch and dinner for me, avoiding junk food, prioritizing protein and veggies. I also made enough to have a balanced lunch the day after.
 ☑ I study for Statistics and did my group part for the team project I have. I met with my group and the assignment was submitted.
 ☑ I made the pre-lab for today and guess what the dilution scheme that I created was the one we used (even if I doubt of myself and called it dumb, this was a lesson this morning for me where I need to trust myself more...believe more in me)
 ☑ I studied about Air Sampling, took notes for later (exam) and presented the quiz before midnight
 ☑ I went to buy groceries as eggs :)
 ☑ I shared time talking on the phone with my granmas, now that I have more time by myself connecting is always needed and a mood booster 💕👵💕
 ☑ I workout! I realize that not having to go to the gym everyday and acommodating workouts for home is always better than doing nothing at all, I am thinkin seriously to buy some 25 lbs dumbells. There is no excuse.
☑ Journaling about things I feel grateful for, the moment of the day I really appreciate it, what I learned, the achievements of my day, and what I could have done better (study for the chemistry exam, going to bed earlier and drink more water). My weekly affirmation:
I can with everything.
For today, Monday, I had solid 7 hours of sleep, I meditated, went to classes with a better attitude (yes I am tired but it depends on me if I make my days miserable or I enjoy the little things), worked on the invitation letter for my dad to visit me next year, doing this! I will have lunch and....
📝organize my house a little bit (bed, dishes, vacuum, 15 min of whatever I want to organize)
📝have a lovely 30 min walk enjoying that the weather is not bad

big morning!! we went to the pediatrician early to check on his little skin rash and then walked both dogs while it was still overcast/cool out. this boy is 10+ lbs now!! big boy! he had a little meltdown after breakfast but it’s nothing a Nap On Mom can’t cure. we are going over to liz and alex’s for lunch at 1ish so I think we will nap/rest for the next hour then I’ll jump in the shower?? let’s see for the rest of the day: I want to pick up a target order and get gas on the way home from lunch… I’d also like to make this last hello fresh meal (I did most of the veggie prep yesterday)… and in a perfect world I’d do a 15 min tidy of the kitchen/living room and put away the laundry but I’m fine with pushing that to tomorrow. in terms of non-house or baby work I’d like to finish rereading this very long fic + maybe even spend a few minutes looking at one of my own drafts. I don’t have to do anything with it lol just look at it.

okay. okay? nikto esp doesnt get spicy food super mega often so its always a treat and hed have the least highest tolerance of the others but he does have A High Tolerance. all 6 of the top tier are really like competitive and flex their tolerance. second row likes spice but mainly in the form of hot sauce. they Have a favorite hot sauce. griggs is the only one here who can actually cook so yknow he likes some. fancy lil hot sauce. a beautiful blend. while velikan and syd and lerch are like Franks Red Hot Yea! otter is like Tabasco Yea! theyre also not super competitive its like whatever they just enjoy spicy food. hot chip roze of course. look at her. classic. zane i think would fuck up flaming hot cheetohs hes like This is the only good thing america has ever done. domino agrees. bale probably gets to try them the least but esp going to thailand w mino to visit hes getting those rare flavors and hes enjoying them thoroughly. probably the least tolerance out of the others but he can Handle it. wyatt specifically likes spicy popcorn. alice has the highest tolerance and shes not like flexing it at all shes just eating hot chip every day. mace, golem, iskra, kreuger, mino (when he makes southeast asian meals), and azur tend to make spicier meals. mace esp just likes jalapeños (MUCH to ghosts dismay. he cant EAT that shit). golem makes spicy chili. kreuger stole his recipe (and im stealing this from cero :)c). price, talon, and farah are like. the Least into hot foods but still really able to handle it. farah esp just likes a strong cinnamon flavor like big red, not exactly a huge chili pepper lover. nikolai likes spice the most but he ALSO has the absolute worst tolerance. he cant finish a small pack of spicy ramen noodles without his stomach hurting. HURTING. sparks is pretty similar but he can mask it easier. alex has the highest tolerance and he really likes hot chips. gaz likes hot sauce but Not A Lot or it will upset his Tummy. and make his nose run. charly is the same but she does not care she will douse that shit when she wants. morte is the MOST cautious. soap will always take one bite and go "oh thats good" then the heat hits him and hes like "I'm good. Thank you." milsims. well that is a mixed bag honestly. rodion tries his fucking HARDEST to be nice with mino makes spicy food but he cant do it. he cant handle the spice. he doesnt like it. yegor Does not fucking get it why is his FOOD. HURTING him. ghost is pretty similar he thinks its stupid. he does not like that mace will get jalapeños in their fucking queso at every mexican restaurant. thorne will politely decline anything spicy. this is getting long so i will put franks under a readmore !
Prep Time: 15 mins. Cook Time: 8 hrs 10 mins. Total Time: 8 hrs 25 mins. Servings: All for me none of your business. Ingredients:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound frank meat
salt and pepper to taste
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon chopped fresh ginger
1 fresh jalapeno peppers, diced
1 tablespoon curry powder
1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes with juice
1 onion, sliced and quartered
1 cup frank broth
Directions: Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, and brown the frankmeat on all sides. Remove from skillet, reserving juices, and season with salt and pepper. Cook and stir the garlic, ginger, and jalapeno in the skillet for 2 minutes, until tender, and season with curry powder. Mix in the diced tomatoes and juice. Place the onion in the bottom of a slow cooker, and layer with the browned frankmeat. Scoop the skillet mixture into the slow cooker, and mix in the frank broth. Cover, and cook 6 to 8 hours on Low. Enjoy :)

Pumpkin Shaped Dinner Rolls

Happy Halloween everyone! I’ve been a huge fan of Charlie Brown for as long as I can remember. Every year, my family watches the specials on TV and I must have read each volume in my grandmother’s massive collection at least three times.
So, when I saw this tumblr post late last year, I knew exactly what I wanted to make for Halloween this year… but with a twist! After some trial and error, I’ve found a way to add cinnamon/pumpkin spice sugar to these rolls while avoiding a massive pocket of it.
So, grab your fall-themed drink of choice and check out below for how to make a batch of these delicious pull-apart dinner rolls for yourself! The great pumpkin may just pay you a visit for your troubles…

Prep: 20 mins             Cook:  3 hrs             Total: 3 hrs 20 mins

Ingredients:
1 cup (240 ml) milk, warm
1 packet (2 ½ tsp, 6.5 g) active dry yeast
1 tbsp. (15 ml) honey
4 tbsp. (57 g) butter, melted
1 tsp (6 g) salt
2 ¾ cup (345 g) all-purpose flour, plus ¼ cup (30 g) more for dusting
Kitchen string cut into 12 32-inch long pieces
Vegetable oil

Pour in the warm milk, yeast, honey, and butter into a large bowl and stir to combine (top-left).
Next, add the salt and the 2 ¾ cups of flour. Using a wooden spoon, stir in the flour until a shaggy, sticky dough forms (top-right).

Turn the sticky dough out onto a clean, lightly floured work surface and knead the dough until it becomes smooth, elastic, and is no longer sticky, about 10 minutes. 
Form the dough into a rough ball shape by tucking in the sides. Lightly coat a medium or large bowl with vegetable oil and transfer the dough seam-side down (top-left).
Cover the bowl with lightly greased plastic wrap or a dish cloth and let rise until the dough has doubled in size, about 1 ½ hours (top-right).
Meanwhile, prepare two baking trays with parchment paper or reusable silicon liners.
TIP: I found that only about 3 tsp (8 g) of the reserved dusting flour spread out onto the board was needed to keep the dough workable without the buns becoming dense.
TIP: Remember from the video, you’ll know the dough has been kneaded enough when it springs back after being lightly pressed and you can stretch out a piece the dough like a windowpane without it ripping. The windowpane should also be able to support the weight of the rest of the piece of dough without ripping.

Once the dough has doubled in size, turn it out onto your clean work surface and knead it a few times to bring it back together.
Next, either cut the dough in half and divide each half into six even wedges or divide the dough into 50g - 55g portions using a kitchen scale.
Knead each portion a little and then pull in the edges of the dough to create a ball (like the big dough ball). Secure the its shape by placing the ball seam-side down on the work surface and gently rolling it with the palm of a clawed hand, for about 10 seconds.
Once the smaller dough balls have been formed, place them seam-side down on the prepared baking tray, cover, and let rest for 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, place the pieces of kitchen string in bowl and toss them with a generous amount of vegetable oil. 
NOTE: Do not move onto the next step without this first rest. The dough will expand way too much around the string if you wrap it immediately.

If you’d would like slightly sweeter rolls to dip in coffee or tea, you can add some cinnamon/pumpkin spice sugar after kneading the measured portions and before shaping the rolls.
First, roll the dough flat and spread ~⅛ tsp. of the sugar mixture on one half (top left). Then, fold in half so the sugar mixture is covered and spread another ~⅛ tsp. on half of the folded dough (top right).
Fold in half again and follow the shaping instructions above to seal the rolls.
NOTE: If you put ¼ tsp. of the sugar mixture in the middle of the rolled dough and shape it from there, the mixture will not be evenly distributed throughout the dough - you’ll just get a dry sugar bomb in the middle of the roll.

After letting them rest, working one roll at a time, place the end of one piece of string on the seam-side of the roll with enough of an overhang to tie a double knot latter, ~2 inches (5 cm).
Wrap the string around the dough so eight sections are created. Unlike the tumblr video in the intro, I wrap the string around the dough in one motion (no crisscrossing or twisting strings).
The string should be secure but loose enough that it isn’t pressing much on the dough before the knot is tied.
Once wrapped, double knot the string so there is enough pressure to form small indents and return the roll to the baking tray knot-side down (which should also be seam-side down).
Cover and let rest for an additional 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 375॰F (190॰C) with the oven rack in the middle of the oven.
TIP: Any adjustments to the placement of the string should be made before the knot is tied. The string is virtually unmovable at that point.
TIP: If you’re choosing to add the sugar mixture, set a 15 minute timer once you’ve shaped the first roll. Depending on how long it takes to get through all the dough, you may be able to start wrapping the string around the rolls as soon as you finish shaping the last one.

Sift a little bit of flour on top of each roll (top left).
Bake until the rolls have lightly browned and sound hollow when knocked, about 20 to 25 mins (top right).

Once the rolls have cooled enough to handle, cut the strings off of each roll from the bottom. Slowly and carefully unwrap each roll, removing any strands of string that get stuck.
NOTE: It might have been the string I was using, but I found a lot of little strands were left behind as I unwrapped the rolls. The best solution for this I found was: 
Not to wring out any of the vegetable oil from the string when I took it from the bowl and, 
Have my finger directly behind the string as it slowly peeled away from the roll to help all the little strands come off. 
You’ll probably still need to go in an remove some from where the knot was tied, but this should get rid of most of them.

Finally, cut one or two cinnamon sticks into ¾ inch (2 cm) pieces and press one into the tops of each roll to create the stems.
TIP: To cut the cinnamon sticks, use a steak knife to make a small groove and then snap them at that mark. It’ll really save the durability of your knives. Use long sawing motions instead of short ones.
Voilà, your very own pumpkin dinner rolls! Overall, I would give these a 4.5/5 for the regular ones and a 4/5 for the sugar mixture ones - not because of the taste, but for the process.
Cutting the string, soaking them in oil, plus the wrapping, tying, and unwrapping nearly drove me insane each time. I would recommend making these, especially the sugar mixture ones, with a friend. The extra hands (and jokes) will go a long way.
In the end, although they were a little awkward to make, they were definitely a fun way to get into the spirit of the season (and flex on everyone /j)!

indecision cookies prep time: 25 min | bake time: 10 min | makes about 2 dozen cookies
some people call these "everything but the kitchen sink" cookies. my grandmother called them "clean out the cabinet" cookies. I call them "indecision" cookies because I make them when I can't decide what kind of cookies I want, so feel free to make these your own and add whatever you'd like!

ingredients:
1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup white sugar
1 large egg, room temperature
2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1.5 cups mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cups toffee chips or peanut butter chips
1 cup crushed potato chips (ruffled chips tend to work better)
1/2 cup chopped pretzels
optional, flaky salt for topping
instructions:
Preheat oven to 350F.
Optional: For easier clean up, line baking sheets with parchment paper or a baking mat.
Using a stand mixer or hand mixer, beat butter and both sugars together until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla and mix on low.
Sift in dry ingredients until just combined.
Add special bits and fold into the mixture (by hand!).
Roll dough into roughly 1" balls and place on baking sheet, leaving about 5 inches between. Optional, add extra special bits to the top.
Bake 10-12 minutes, until edges are crisp and center is still soft.
Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack. (If topping with flaky salt, lightly sprinkle when they come out.)
Enjoy!
These are good for a week in an airtight container. You can also freeze the dough in balls and store in a freezer-safe bag for up to 6 months. But, trust me, these never last more than 15 hours in my house.

List time...but surprise today is actually a good day! I just need to get things outta my head to make sure I get my timing right...
Ok so I just put a pork roast in for dinner and it is currently searing at 4:25.... Turn down to 350 in 13 mins.. (likely around the time I post this)
Veggies gonna be:
- canned cream corn (heat 5 mins before serving)
- apple sauce made with the apples I am roasting with the pork (fish out and smash - possibly add more apple - out when I take out the roast to rest)
- baked carrots and parsnips (5 start prep)
Personal To Do List (listed in order of priority)
Install new latch on cupboard under sink
Clean up/ practice demo I am doing tomorrow at work
Pack for prompt departure in the morning to work for presentation in the morning
Pack for trip I am taking later this week (this is shocking I am a throw things madly in a plastic bag madly before I leave person - which I hate)
Work clothing; IT; meds; toiletries; jewelry; makeup?; find damn sunglasses and things I need to drop off at head office
Further (spend an hour more?) on my new budget tracking spreadsheet - after trying other people's solutions and failing...I am trying attempt #4567923 to get on top of family finances. This time I am prioritising a blended bi-weekly/monthly approach that I sort of do naturally. I am also building it around my actual payweek schedule. And have "coded" it to analyse based on those patterns.... I.e. what happens when it is a 3 payweek month versus a 2 payweek month? What are 1st paycheck of the month expenses vs end of the month? We'll see if this time actually helps for awhile. Sigh. I suck at all of this. Oh well if nothing else...when you talk about working/middle/academic/artist class people funneling their money back into the economy instead of saving...and how important that can be... Well let's just say I see myself in that picture...and I am torn about how I feel about it. Money is a huge source of shame for me.

Ok so here's the timeline based on all that...I am only putting in the musts and then I am going to come back and fill in what I achieve:

Got kid to sleep by 10:20... Then tackled more work. Got it done eventually. We'll see how tomorrow goes.

Helped with purple hair washing; but also did some work work. Didn't have to drive... Husband got ride.
8:00 to 9:00 - kid bath, jammies & reading
Fed people at 6:45...before that tried to do some work work but my computer needed charging so I did more on the family budget.
6:20 - call folks to wash hands, plate, choose documentary for dinner, cats in "cat jail" (we keep them out of the dinning area for fancier meals since they have terrible table manners)
6:15 - heat corn
6:00 - take out meat to rest and tackle applesauce
5:15 - carrots and parsnips in oven
Put parsnips & carrots in oven early. Now I have an hour to do some work. I wish I had an office.
5:00 - start carrot and parsnip prep
Work through personal to do list for 2.5 hours
Finished doing the latch...but I had to use armature wire to create a custom latch for the one side...apparently I should have bought a bigger latch.

2 cups milk
3 cups self-raising flour
3 cups grated tasty cheese (or colby cheese is fine)
1 cup fresh spinach leaves chopped roughly (I use baby spinach but normal is fine)
1 small red onion diced (or half a large onion)
1 tsp mustard powder
1 tsp curry powder
½ tsp cayenne pepper (this is a must for this recipe)
salt
Grease an oven tray OR line oven tray with baking paper.
Preheat oven. Set oven on to 175degC (fan bake) or 200degC (non-fanbake).
Mix the flour, cheese, spinach, onion and flavourings in a bowl until thoroughly blended.
Stir in the milk until just dry ingredients are mixed together. If the mix is too wet the scones will sink. Add more flour if needed. Don’t overmix the dough or the scones will be gluggy. Use your hands to gently bring the mixture together.
Turn mixture onto a floured bench. Don’t knead the mixture. Gently pat out the mixture with your hand until you get a 2 cm thickness, oval or circle shape.
Cut the scone dough into squares with a knife (or use a large cookie cutter to cut circle shapes). Place onto oven tray. Lightly brush tops of scone with a little milk. Add grated cheese on top of each scone if you wish to have a crunchy cheese topping.
Place in the oven for 20-30 minutes until scones are cooked. Check after 20 mins, once they start to brown on top they are ready.
Best served warm from the oven, with knobs of soft butter.
This recipe is quite generous, and depending how big you cut your square shapes, makes about 10-12 big scones.

Prepare all chopped ingredients, cheese grated, measure dry ingredients, get baking tray ready etc. Then throw into the bowl and cut out the scones. Takes me about 15 minutes for prep. If you don’t have cayenne pepper, use ground black pepper instead. The spices/flavourings make this recipe. You can adjust the quantities to your taste, if you like.
