Avery messed up.

He had been cleaning dishes, like normal, when a plate slipped out of his hands. He had watched with horror as it crashed to the ground, breaking into tiny, sharp shards. He ran to grab a broom and clean it up, but it was too late. A guard heard the commotion and ran into the room. Avery ran into the knight, stumbling back.

"Running away from your mess, are you?" the guard said, walking towards Avery. Avery backed away.

"N-no, sir! I was g-getting a broom, sir!" he insisted. The guard only narrowed his eyes at the boy. Avery backed away further.

"Don't talk back!" the guard bellowed. Avery flinched away, hitting the wall behind him. The guard walked up to him, hovering over the shorter boy. Avery was frozen, cowering against the wall, unable to escape even if he wanted to. The guard lifted an armored hand and backhanded him, the edges of the iron gauntlet scratching into Avery's face.

"Now, clean up that mess, lazy boy!" the knight ordered. Avery nodded, shaking and unable to speak. The knight walked back to his post nearby, but Avery refused to walk past him to get the broom. So, he swept the pieces of plate in his palm. The big pieces were easy enough to clean up, but the small pieces poked into his hand and created little cuts. When every piece was off the floor, Avery resumed his task, hands stinging from the soap and water and face dripping blood. He was much more careful, shaking as he slowly washed every dish.

"Are you Jason Peter Todd?!" demanded a deep and commanding tone from the strange glowing being in front of them.

All the Bats stiffened and tensed, no doubt gearing up for a fight against the being that somehow knew Red Hood's full name.

Jason, Red Hood, decided to put on a brave front despite no doubt cursing in his head and wondering how the heck did this thing know his full freaking name.

"Whose asking." he snarled out, his hands twitching for his gun when the huge glowing knight with purple flames coming out of his helmet and cape, who was riding on a nightmare looking horse while they all had been in the cave going over tonight's patrol.

The Knight didn't seemed bothered by his response nor did he even seem to care or flinch when Batman made his own demand on 'Why was he there and who was he' or when Damian unsheathed his sword and pointed it towards him. Instead the strange glowing Knight reached to it side and pulled out... A glowing scroll? Huh. (Also he completely unnerved everyone in the room when the Knight didn't even react when Batman had tossed a Baterang when he reached for his side)

The Knight opened the scroll and spoke clearly with purpose.

"Jason Peter Todd,

You are hereby invited as a special guest of honor to the crowning of our future King of the Infinite Realms.

Daniel Phantom, once Daniel Jackson Fenton, and once Daniel Austen Todd.

Prince of the Infinite Realms, the Keeper of Balance, The Peacekeeping Halfa, the Defeater of the Tyrant King Pariah Dark, The Great One, Youngest of the Ancients, Ancient of Space, The Bridge between Life and Death.

I feel like I've complained about Tim's email situation in Gotham Knights before (edit: I have), but the truth of it is just so funny.

He's signed up for so many podcasts, video game streamers, and random news alerts; it's just a constant barrage of data going straight into his constantly whirring brain. Hell, he even floats the idea of the Batfamily having their own podcast as a way to correct misinformation about them (which Jason shoots down instantly), and it's made me realize something.

Timothy Drake would be a YouTuber.

In this universe specifically, Timothy Jackson Drake, the heir to Drake Industries and the foster son of the late Bruce Wayne would be a YouTuber.

Think about it. It'd be the perfect cover. Who would ever suspect that some 16-year-old nepo baby with a YouTube channel could ever be Red Robin? You'd have to be mad. I mean, look at him.

Red Robin just dropped out of literal thin air and garotted someone four times his size, and you expect anyone to believe that's the same kid who does 24-hour Minecraft charity streams and occasionally drops 6-hour video essays (his last one was on Lex Luthor's illegal bit mining operation on the moon)?

absolutely obssessed with how good the urban planning of hallownest is. the stag can take you absolutely anywhere. there are trams to access dangerous locations they can't get across, and everything is absolutely free. walkable neighbourhoods are a must, even in a setting where some people can fly.

more than that, the kingdom fell long ago, and everything is only like a tenth of what it used to be. which means things were actually EVEN BETTER at some point
