I think that one thing people fail to understand is that unsolicited literary criticism coming from an online stranger who is reading with no knowledge of what the authors intended goal is, is not going to be received the same as say: the authors beta reader or friends who know what the authors intended goal and has the sufficient knowledge and input to help the author reach that desired outcome.

"But I'm only trying to be helpful" How do I know you have the knowledge and literary skill for you to be able to actaully do that when we don't know each other and you are essentially a stranger to me? Are you applying this criticism based out of personal biased experience and desire to see the story or characterization be driven in another direction or tweaked, or do you know the author's intentions for the character? If the story is incomplete, are you basing your criticism of a character on the incomplete narration with only partial information available of them or are you building up a report until the story's completion? Did the author provide you with the information needed to make a fully informed criticism?

Have you discussed with the author what their plans are or are you assuming them based off the narration, especially if the narration is proven or implied to be unreliable or missing key points of the plot? Are you unbiased enough to help them reach their desired outcome for the characters and story regardless of your personal feelings towards the characters/antagonists and setting? Can you handle being told your specific input isn't wanted because you're a reader and/or have no written anything relating to their genre or topic? Do you understand and respect that the author's personal experiences might influence their writing and make it different than how you would have done it personally? Do you understand if an author only wants input from a specific demographic relating to their story?

If it's for fanfiction or other hobby media, are you holding a free hobby to a professional standard? Are you trying to give criticism because you feel like the author has produced 'subpar job performance' of their fic? Are you viewing their work as a personal intimate outlet or something that must conform with mass media? Are you applying rules and guidelines when the fic is shared for simple sharing sake? Is your criticism worded appropriately and focused on the parts where the author has requested input on rather than a general dismissal and or disapproval?

Have you put yourself in a place where you assumed you have the input needed for the story to evolve better, or have you asked what the author needs and what they're having trouble with? Can you handle having your criticism rejected if the author decides their story doesn't need the change and not take it as a personal offense against your character? Are you crossing that boundary because you think you are doing the author a favor? Are you trying to be helpful, or do you just want to be?

I think sometimes when people hear authors go 'please don't give me unsolicited writing advice or criticism' they automatically chalk it up to 'this author doesn't want ANY constructive feedback on their stuff at all' and not "i already have trusted individuals who will help me with my writing goals and- hey i don't know you like that, please stop acting so overly familiar with me'

India’s $13.9 billion aviation industry—projected to cater to over 300 million domestically by 2030—is a ticking time bomb.

This July, in the sweltering heat at the Delhi High Court, additional solicitor general Aishwarya Bhati announced that new rules on pilot duty and rest periods would not be implemented this year after all. Introduced by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in January, the rules were designed specifically to combat pilot fatigue. They were set to take effect in June, but were abruptly retracted. The hearing addressed a writ petition filed by the Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP), seeking clarity on when the new norms would be enforced. The DGCA’s response followed its request to airline companies in April for a tentative implementation timeline.

Concerns over pilot fatigue had been mounting in the months leading up to the announcement of the new Flight Duty Period, Flight Time Limitations, and Prescribed Rest Periods by the DGCA. The urgency deepened in November 2023 when a 37-year-old Air India pilot, Captain Himanil Kumar, collapsed at Delhi Airport while training to fly the airline's Boeing 777 fleet, and later died at the hospital. Kumar was the second Indian pilot to die on duty within three months; in August, Captain Manoj Subramanyam, a 40-year-old IndiGo pilot, suffered a fatal cardiac arrest just minutes before his flight from Nagpur.

These back-to-back tragedies raised alarm in the industry. “Another young Indian pilot passed away today due to a suspected cardiac event,” reportedly tweeted Captain Shakti Lumba, a retired IndiGo VP who is now the president of the Professional Pilots Society in India (His tweet was since deleted.) “If this doesn’t convince the DGCA, civil aviation ministry, and airlines to urgently address the stress, fatigue, and anxiety among pilots, nothing will.”

The DGCA, India’s aviation watchdog, regulates the country’s Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL). At 13 hours of flight duty time, India’s FDTL is already demanding, but after the pandemic slowdown, increased route expansion and pilot shortages have forced many to fly beyond the recommended maximum of 60 hours a week, exacerbating crew exhaustion. The DGCA finally responded to the growing crisis by revising FDTL norms in January 2024.

The new guidelines increased weekly rest periods from 36 to 48 hours and introduced quarterly fatigue reports. Its scheduled implementation on June 1, 2024, was pushed back due to pressure from operators. An airline CEO, speaking anonymously to the Economic Times in January, claimed the proposed regulations would require a 20 percent increase in pilot numbers, which would escalate expenses and lead to huge numbers of flight cancellations. Still, the DGCA held firm on the FDTL implementation deadline till early March. By the end of the month, however, it appeared to have yielded to influence from the airline lobby. A notice on the regulator’s website announced the deadline had been deferred, without providing a reason or setting a new date.

The pilot fatigue problem isn’t unique to India. In January, two pilots for Indonesia-based Batik Air fell asleep for 28 minutes mid-flight, causing their plane to veer off course between Sulawesi and Jakarta. In April, unionized Virgin Atlantic pilots in the UK voted 96 percent in favor of pursuing an industrial action in response to rising fatigue. Earlier, the CEO of Wizz Air UK faced a backlash for urging crew members to push through their fatigue to avoid flight cancellations. In May, senior pilots at Virgin Australia raised safety concerns, claiming rostering systems were pushing them "to the limits.”

But in India, the belief that overwork and fatigue are not just acceptable but essential has become entrenched across industries. The aviation crisis is just the tip of the iceberg; it is the tech industry that is leading the charge. Last year, Infosys cofounder Narayana Murthy suggested that Indian youth should work 70 hours a week for the nation's development. Murthy’s advice came up at the Indian Parliament on the first day of its winter session and found support from a list of influential Indian tech leaders, including Bhavish Aggarwal, founder of India’s first AI unicorn, Ola Krutrim; Ayushmaan Kapoor, cofounder of the AI-powered customer platform Xeno; and even veterans like Sajjan Jindal, CEO and MD of JSW Group, and Vinod Khosla of Sun Microsystems. Almost all of them justified the extended work hours, which far exceed the maximum eight to nine hours per day stipulated by the International Labour Organisation and the Indian Labour Code, as necessary for strengthening India’s economy. “We have to make India an economic superpower that we can all be proud of,” Jindal wrote on X. He cited Indian prime minister Narendra Modi, “who works 14-16 hours everyday,”as a model. In July this year, the Karnataka State IT/ITeS Employee Union said the state government had plans to increase working hours in the sector from the current maximum of 10 hours (including overtime) to a staggering 14 hours a day. As the union planned massive campaigns to oppose the move, the labor minister stated that the push for the proposal had come from the companies.

The airline companies think they have a solution to the fatigue crisis: technology. IndiGo, India’s largest airline, announced it would be an “early adopter” of a wrist-worn fatigue-monitoring device it was developing with French defense and aerospace company Thales Group. The device can provide “detailed insights into demographic data, including routes, pairings, crew profiles, and more, going beyond traditional scheduling-focused biomathematical models,” the airline stated in a press release in September. The airline, which operates 2,000 flights daily and employs over 5,000 pilots, said the device would be rolled out after a proof-of-concept trial. No date for the rollout was announced.

Wearable activity trackers are not new to the aviation industry. IndiGo’s device sounds similar to Actiwatch, a now-discontinued line of research-grade actigraphs from Philips, used to monitor sleep patterns, study circadian rhythms, and track physical activity as part of an airline’s fatigue risk-management system. But they partly rely on performance tests and subjective measures, such as self-reporting, which often results in being targeted by the airlines, says Captain C. S. Randhawa, president of the Federation of Indian Pilots. Safety management systems on the whole tend to be neglected by operators and are viewed as an additional expense, says Captain Amit Singh of the NGO Safety Matters Foundation.

In May 2023, Air India launched safety management software called Coruson, as well as BAM (Boeing Alertness Model), a fatigue-mitigation tool integrated into its rostering system, which is used by airlines to create and manage pilot schedules. Coruson, developed by cloud software company Ideagen, centralizes, analyzes, and reports on safety-related data—such as incidents, hazards, and risk assessments. BAM, developed jointly by Boeing and the software company Jeppesen, predicts and manages pilot fatigue by analyzing flight schedules and performance data. These tools were designed to prevent the creation of fatiguing rosters and pairings, Air India CEO Campbell Wilson noted in an internal message to employees. The carrier also introduced two new digital tools for its crew—the Pilot Sector Report app, to help pilots easily submit information on flight performance, incidents, and observations post-flight; and DocuNet, a digital management system that facilitates the storage, retrieval, and sharing of documents (such as flight manuals, training records, and compliance documents).

Despite these measures, the airline was fined by the DGCA in March this year for violating FDTL limits and fatigue management rules. This May, Air India Express cabin staff called in sick en masse to protest against “mismanagement.” This followed a similar protest from the crew, mostly pilots, at Vistara airlines. Both Air India and Vistara are now owned by one of India’s largest conglomerates, the Tata Group, which took over the former from the Indian government in January 2022.

Twenty-five of those who called in sick at Air India Express were terminated. Others were reportedly served an ultimatum. Those sacked were later reinstated by the airline following an intervention by the chief labour commissioner. Nearly a week before, the regional labor commissioner of Delhi had allegedly written to the Tata group chairman pointing to “blatant violations of labour laws” and insisting the legitimate concerns of the cabin crew be looked into. According to CNBC, Vistara employees said the agitation at their end had to do with recent salary updates, which fixed pilot pay at 40 flight hours—down from 70. Protesting first officers claimed that the new salary structure would result in an almost 57 percent pay cut. Under the new terms they would also have to fly up to 76 hours to earn what they were previously earning at 70 hours.

To placate the pilots and get them back to work, management had assured them that salaries for the “extra working hours” would be credited once Vistara was integrated with Air India. At the time, two Air India pilots unions had written to the chairman of the company, saying that such issues were not isolated but systemic. Burnout was the other related issue, with many pilots complaining of inadequate rest and being pushed to their limits.

Captain Singh, a former senior manager at AirAsia, tells WIRED that such effects significantly increase the risk of accidents, but also adversely affect pilot health in the long run. Tail swaps—rushing between different types of aircraft to take off immediately after disembarking from another—have become more prevalent under the 13-hour rules, and can further contribute to exhaustion, as do hasty acclimatization and, most significantly, landing three, four, or more flights consecutively, which Captain Randhawa described as a “severe energy management challenge.”

In the 2024 “Safety Culture Survey” conducted by Singh’s Safety Matters Foundation in July, 81 percent of 530 respondents, primarily medium- to short-haul pilots, stated that bufferless rosters contribute to their fatigue. As many as 84 percent indicated concerns with the speed and direction of shift rotation. “That’s the problem with the new rostering softwares the operators are introducing,” a pilot from a private airline, who requested anonymity, says. “They’re optimizers designed to make pilots work every second of their 13-hour schedule, leaving no breathing room.” The buffer-deficient timetables push pilots to their limits, so any additional pressure—like unpredictable weather—can easily overwhelm them.

Solving this issue with wrist-worn fatigue-measuring devices is contentious. But that isn’t the only problem. A year since they were hyped up, the buzz around fatigue-management tech has all but fizzled out. There have been no updates from IndiGo about the wrist device. Neither IndiGo nor the Thales Group responded to requests to comment.

I’ll be using these pieces of him that I’ve done to go over my notes - this is just how I go about drawing him. I’d definitely recommend also going through this post linked above too for additional info because a lot of it carries over!

I think the most important thing for me when drawing König is spacing out his hood ratios. I always start out by just drawing where his eyes and eyebrows are, then I draw the cut-outs around them. after that, I start the stitched neckline - that’s usually an eye hole’s width above his actual eyes, it gives a good allusion to where his forehead would be

they aren’t hard and fast rules I follow, more like a silent guideline that can be meddled with depending on the drawing. I usually follow them because, to me, it looks the best with how I draw him. it’s flexible - same with the sleeves, sometimes they end below his eye cut-outs, sometimes I cut them short and they’re higher

I thought I’d do a step-by-step for the hood folds because just info dumping all at once sounded confusing in my head

I start by just drawing lines down from the corners of his eye cut-outs, then I loosely draw a slanted line to show some bunching of the fabric. the slanted line is usually around where his collarbone would be

best way I can describe figure 2 is drawing folds in a ‘U’ shape. the fabric is falling from his head and ‘pooling’. the ‘U’ shape adds a little depth

miscellaneous little folds around the hem. they follow the way his hood rests, slanting downwards towards the center

if anything, just study how fabric falls and bunches up! a lot of drawing is looking at reference material to figure the ‘why’s and ‘what’s - “why do the folds bunch in certain areas?”, “why is fabric gathering in that area”, “what’s causing the fabric to move like that”, etc

lastly is his body, and as we know, I’m allergic to drawing clothing (read “lazy”). I actually really recommend looking at the post I linked above for this because, in the last figure, I show the Pinterest reference of the man who inspired my König’s body shape (and went into depth on using references)

for arms, in figure 1 and 2, you’ll see me draw an oval inside the bicep and forearm - those are just to add the allusion to muscle mass. if I don’t draw those ovals, to me, it looks a little flat. in figure 3 I go over his waistline because of course I do

I always account for a prominent rib cage line because I personally like drawing a more pronounced rib cage in general. after the ribcage, there’s a slight indent at the waist before it flares back out - that ‘flare out’ is the line for the Adonis belt. again, just personal preference, but I enjoy making the curves a little dramatic so they’re more pronounced and visually appealing to me

I don’t know how helpful that was but I hope I got some information across - uuh, even though I don’t draw his tactical gear and uniform that often the advice I can give is to just look at his model haha. the only gear that gives me a headache is his helmet, but even then I just bs my way through it

for chibi König I just shrink all his proportions and draw a stupid little t-shirt for his head<3 he doesn’t need to think, he’s just a cute little fella. I draw chibi König the way I would draw a puppy, make him look cute without a thought behind those eyes

𝕵𝖆𝖗𝖊𝖙𝖍 was an early riser. He enjoyed the quietness of the morning. He enjoyed watching over you as you began your early stages of awakening, stretching your legs and giving a sleepy grunt. Most mornings, he allowed you to wake up whenever you wished to, and to sleep as long as you needed.

Other times, he woke up feeling cheeky. One of the greatest perks of being married was to have somebody to annoy.

Sometimes, he'd be so excited for you to wake up that he'd kiss your cheek until you opened your eyes. Other times, he would send a goblin in to spook you awake. You hated that. He got a kick out of it.

Your favorite way of being woken up was the rare occasion that Jareth would turn into an owl for you. He didn't do it often- perhaps he didn't wish for you to see him as cute. Jareth used to think he looked like a noble winged beast as a barn owl, but you seemed to think that he was a cute feathered gentleman. This put him in an odd space, somewhere in between his ego being stroked and feeling exasperated.

Jareth lay on his side, his head propped up by his hand. He looked down at you as you began your first signs of consciousness, giving you a good morning kiss on the cheek. You furrowed your brows, which in turn caused him to smirk and give a brief chuckle under his breath.

"Oh, poor (Y/N). Do I bother you already?" Jareth asked quietly, fondly brushing his knuckle down your jawline. Seeing you scrunch up your nose and flinch away only made Jareth's desire to be annoying even greater.

"Stop," you demanded in a low and hoarse tone. Jareth responded by continuing to pester you in subtle but loving ways- nudging you gently, kissing you tenderly, until you finally turned away from him. The moment you mumbled an angry curse at him was the moment he realized he had gone too far to annoy you.

"Forgive me, darling," apologized Jareth.

You waved him away dismissively.

Jareth's eyes drifted shut. He sighed quietly in defeat.

The next thing you knew, something soft and feathery was gently bumping into the back of your neck. Your eyes opened immediately, a sleepy smile growing upon your lips. You turned once again, this time to face him. Jareth nuzzled into you, cooing and fluffing up his feathers.

"You're so cute!" You gushed over him, pressing a kiss to the top of his head. Jareth hopped back and raised his wings defensively, hoping you'd get the general message of "look, don't touch". Unfortunately for him, it was impossible for you to obey this rule, especially since you knew that he secretly enjoyed it when you fawned over him.

Eventually, Jareth found a comfortable spot against your chest, allowing you to pet and pamper him. You never expected him to be so cuddly. You enjoyed the silence of the morning together, when the goblins hadn't yet awakened, when the world was quiet. You exhaled drowsily.

"I forgive you."

Each entry should be a complete, playable roleplaying game in two hundred words or fewer. Coming in lower is fine, though you're welcome to try to hit 200 words exactly if you want an extra challenge.

This is an informal game jam; entries are not curated or judged, no eligibility rules are enforced, no winners are chosen, and the organising parties explicitly refuse to define the terms "word" or "RPG". If you wish to participate, you can follow these steps:

Step 1: If you're unfamiliar with 200-word RPGs, read a bunch of previous years' entries (linked above), or browse the 200 Word RPG Challenge archives at https://200wordrpg.github.io/ to get in the proper headspace. I only write for characters who are women. No men here. Sorry, folks.

I only write x reader. I don't really enjoy writing about already-existing relationships or character ships. I've done a couple of x daughter!reader and x sibling!reader fics, and I'm happy to do them, but to be honest I very much prefer romantic fics.

I only write for readers and characters with v*lvas. I absolutely welcome non-binary/gender non-conforming characters/readers. Just be aware that, where smut is concerned, I only feel confident writing about humans with v*ginas.

I don't feel comfortable writing dark!characters or smut that's degrading. Kinks and other smut-related requests I take on a case-by-case basis. But I absolutely will not write anything that even gets close to the line of non-consensual. No shade to you if the above are things you enjoy reading/writing, they're just personally not for me.

Autistic readers are so welcome! I love reading and writing x autistic!reader fics!

I do feel comfortable writing about the aftermath of trauma (sexual or otherwise), most mental illnesses, etc. I enjoy a good hurt/comfort fic and, as someone who's dealt with both of the above, I know it can be very comforting to read something that makes you feel like you're cared for and safe.

Fundamentals for Submissions:

You MUST submit the name and origin of the song.

You MUST use the provided google form for submissions. Any songs requested in the ask box or messages will be deleted/ignored.

You MAY submit the artist and/or a link to the song. This is not required, but is very helpful.

Clarifications for your Submissions:

For the sake of allowing as many individuals as possible to submit songs, only one song per person is allowed per submission period. A submission period lasts about three months and includes three submission dates (the 1st of each month during the period). If you submission is removed for any reason, it will be made publicly available here under 'Submission Form Deletions' and you will be able to resubmit at a later date during the submission period. Submissions under this category should not be resubmitted because they are already in the queue.

Please indicate the source/year of the game in the ‘notes’ tab of the form if your game has a remake/remaster and you would like to submit a specific version (i.e, specify if you’re submitting Snow in Summer from NieR (2010) or NieR:Replicant (2021)). This is not required, but obviously very helpful.

The song MUST be officially released in some capacity, whether that is from the composer, studio, developers, company, etc. NO LEAKS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Songs from anything that could reasonably considered a ‘video game’ will be accepted provided they meet the remaining rules and clarifications. Any console, any release year, visual novels, gacha games, itch.io games, self-hosted games, flash games, mobile apps, are all allowed. If you're still unsure, please look at the specific guidelines.

Songs under 20 seconds will not be accepted (try @dyktvideogamesfx for those ones!)

Songs from live-service games will be accepted on a case-by-case basis, with most approved cases being songs that were featured in an actual form of the gameplay (i.e songs exclusive to advertisements/promotional material may not be accepted). See specific rules for details.

Songs from gacha rhythm games/idol card-collecting games/etc will be accepted if they are regular BGM or event BGM. Hello I actually found you through your recent riddle mommy kink post and I was actually surprised and happy to see it was a psychological analysis! My pals and I aren’t pros but we do have a big interest in psychology and mental health so sometimes we have fun trying to figure out what the characters “have”.

That being said, we think at least a few characters might have adhd. Kalim and deuce, but also more controversially Floyd. I sometimes get met with “nah Floyd is just a jerk” to which I reply “you can have adhd and be a jerk” lmao. Obviously we believe the symptoms for all the lads just express themselves a bit differently per individual.

Do you have any thoughts?

ADHD: A deeper look into Deuce, Floyd and Kalim's brains

Disclaimer: Although this post is written by a professional psychologist, it is not intended to serve as a formal diagnosis. Rather, it is a character analysis of Deuce Spade, Floyd Leech and Kalim Alasim, created out of personal interest and passion for world-building. In psychological practice, accurate assessment should never be based solely on external observation.

Author Notes: Hello! I decided to answer this ask because it’s a genuinely interesting one - and I’ve actually outlined neurodivergent profiles for both Deuce and Floyd before as a little hobby. That said, I’d like to kindly remind you to be a bit more mindful of the rules in the future. I usually cover one character at a time, as noted in the guidelines. I truly didn’t mind doing this request - it was fun to explore, and I kept it fairly surface-level... but if you’re ever hoping for a more in-depth analysis, please make sure to follow the rules.

What is ADHD

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by persistent patterns of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that impair functioning. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) criteria, these symptoms must last at least six months in multiple settings and cause difficulties at school, work, or social life.The DSM-5 outlines symptoms under two core categories:

Inattention: frequent careless mistakes, difficulty sustaining attention, seeming not to listen, not following through on tasks, disorganization, avoiding tasks requiring sustained mental effort, losing things, distractibility, and forgetfulness.

Hyperactivity and Impulsivity: fidgeting, leaving the seat when remaining seated is expected, feeling restless, difficulty engaging in activities quietly, talking excessively, blurting out answers, difficulty waiting turns, and interrupting others.

Deuce Spade is described on the wiki as a hardworking, straightforward first-year student in Heartslabyul who “is very serious, but a little disorganized”. He is competitive and morally upright, and although he used to be a delinquent, he now strives to become an honors student. Deuce is noted for giving his best effort and having strong self-awareness about improving himself. These traits suggest he is generally focused on his goals. However, the wiki also notes that Deuce “had sharp tongue and often got involved in fights” as a delinquent, and that he can be “easily provoked” with violent tendencies when angry.

Arguments pro ADHD: One possible ADHD-related trait is the mention that Deuce is “a little disorganized”. Disorganization can reflect difficulties with executive function and organization, which are common in inattentive ADHD. His quick temper and history of impulsive aggression might also hint at impulsivity. However, it is important to note that Deuce’s aggression is described as reactive. The wiki explicitly says he “only picks fights when provoked”, implying his actions are deliberate responses rather than spontaneous impulsivity. 

Arguments against ADHD: On the other hand, most of Deuce’s character descriptions contradict ADHD traits. He is depicted as hardworking and goal-oriented, actively trying to improve himself, and possessing strong moral understanding. These qualities suggest good focus and motivation. Deuce’s awareness of his own flaws and his conscious effort to become better (e.g. working to be an honors student) indicate organized thinking and planning. Furthermore, the only impulsive behavior noted – fighting when angry – is context-specific and controlled. In summary, aside from a brief mention of being “a little disorganized,” Deuce’s canon portrayal emphasizes diligence and deliberate action, which are inconsistent with a typical ADHD profile.

Floyd Leech is a second-year Octavinelle student whose personality strongly suggests ADHD-like behavior. The wiki describes him as initially “very laid back and lazy”, with an unpredictable attitude and speech. Crucially, Floyd exhibits pronounced mood swings and impulsivity: “he won’t hesitate to drop something and leave the scene if he decides it’s boring or not worth the time/effort”. On the other hand, when something does catch his interest, he becomes “somewhat dedicated” to it. This pattern - abandoning unstimulating tasks and hyper-focusing on exciting ones - mirrors ADHD tendencies to lose interest quickly and focus intensely only on preferred activities. Furthermore, the wiki notes that “he’s prone to doing things on impulse simply because he wants to do them”. He is also described as having a nearly photographic memory for information he finds interesting, but “quickly forgets it” if he’s not interested, again reflecting selective attention. Floyd’s hobbies and talents also indicate high physical activity: he lists dancing as a hobby, talented at parkour and his pet-peeve is restrainment. This suggests restlessness and an “on-the-go” energy consistent with hyperactivity.

Arguments pro ADHD: Floyd’s behaviors align closely with DSM-5 criteria. His tendency to abandon boring tasks and act on impulse corresponds to inattention and impulsivity symptoms (e.g. avoidance of tasks requiring sustained effort, acting without thinking) while his memory pattern (remembering only what interests him) reflects distractibility. His physical restlessness (parkour, dancing) matches hyperactivity (as if “driven by a motor”). The wiki explicitly notes he has “infamous mood swings” and unpredictable behaviort. All these point toward a combined ADHD presentation.

Arguments against ADHD: The main counterpoint is that Floyd is described as lazy and laid-back, which might seem opposite to the typical hyperactive image. However, this can be reconciled: ADHD individuals often appear lazy or unmotivated when tasks are not engaging. Floyd’s laziness could simply reflect boredom. In fact, the evidence of his high energy when motivated (parkour, dancing) suggests that under the right stimulation he is anything but lazy.

Kalim Al-Asim, the Scarabia housewarden has a cheerful and friendly personality but also shows some traits that could be misread as inattentiveness. The wiki describes Kalim as “quite ditsy and clumsy,” requiring Jamil to help him with dorm duties. He is also noted to be “not very careful with his words,” once unintentionally insulting another student. These qualities - clumsiness, distractibility, and impulsive speech - might superficially resemble inattentive or impulsive ADHD symptoms (e.g. forgetfulness, saying things without thinking). Kalim’s hobby of partying and his large, active family environment suggest he is socially energetic.

Arguments pro ADHD: One could argue Kalim’s need for assistance (Jamil “needing to help him do his task”) indicates executive-function weaknesses, and his obliviousness could hint at inattention. His clumsiness and occasionally saying things without thinking might be seen as signs of distractibility or impulsivity. The combination of being lively (he loves parties) and somewhat scatterbrained could fit an ADHD inattentive profile.

Arguments against ADHD: Kalim’s infantilization during childhood could very well explain his clumsiness and apparent lack of awareness, without suggesting a neurodevelopmental disorder like ADHD. Kalim comes from a wealthy, sheltered background where he was deeply adored and protected, often treated more like a treasured figurehead than someone expected to handle responsibilities. This overprotectiveness likely led to:

Underdeveloped executive function skills: Since he didn’t need to manage tasks or face real consequences growing up, he may not have developed the organizational or planning skills others his age have.

Dependence on others (like Jamil): His reliance on Jamil isn't necessarily due to cognitive issues, but because he was never expected to function independently.

Naïveté and impulsive speech: If people always reacted positively to him and rarely corrected him, he wouldn’t learn to filter his words or think critically before speaking.

This kind of upbringing often results in what looks like clumsiness or absentmindedness, but it’s environmental rather than neurological. So rather than ADHD, Kalim’s traits seem more like the outcome of emotional overprotection and a lack of structured challenges during formative years.

Conclusion

In summary, the canonical evidence suggests that Floyd Leech most closely exhibits ADHD-like symptoms, while Deuce Spade and Kalim Al-Asim do not. Deuce is generally focused, diligent, and only mildly disorganized with any aggression being situational rather than impulsive. Kalim shows occasional forgetfulness and clumsiness, but is otherwise mentally sharp and empathetic. In contrast, Floyd’s profile explicitly includes classic ADHD patterns: he abandons uninteresting tasks, forgets mundane information, acts on impulse, and has high physical energy (parkour, dancing) consistent with hyperactivity. 

Don’t forget, this is a simple analysis. You’re free to keep your headcanons - this is just a quick overview of the topic! Please don’t take my analysis as a definitive conclusion, as diagnosing a neurodivergence is complex - especially without actually talking to the individual.

This is not a space for discourse, politics, competition or bigotry, nor do we condone the harassment of any individual for any reason.

We do not accept nor condone sexual, proship or explicit requests. You will be ignored.

We have the right to refuse any ask for any reason. You are not guaranteed a reply. Please be considerate as we all have our own lives and this is purely a passion project.

This blog is meant to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ Sonic community first and foremost, and while ships are allowed, they are not the focus of our project. We'd be very grateful to receive requests that are not of that nature.

Please do not request OC / AU related content.

Please do not spam the inbox nor ask for anything overly complicated. Do not ask for revisions on drawn requests either.

Do not request a specific mod draw for your request, nor state whom you do not wish to answer. You may ask for mods directly if it is normal conversation/questions. Additionally, do not ask us invasive questions.

We are more than happy to answer any questions you may have and promote your work if it is within our guidelines. However, we do not accept post submissions or images for safety reasons, so please either tag us or link the desired post.

Art we create from requests can be used as long as it is being used non-commercially (ie. profile pictures, phone backgrounds, etc), please credit @sonicpridecorner + the mod that made the art.

All posts are organized by the tagging system. Please do not feel discouraged if you see someone already asked for something, a different mod might be excited to draw that too!

Finish What You Started 2025 - Event Rules

The goal of this event is to get things done that you’ve already started. We all have unfinished projects whose incomplete status haunts us. Those are what we want to tackle!

The structure is loose, as this is a multimedia event. While primarily aimed at writers, this event is open to any kind of creative fanwork. Fics, translations, podfics, fanart, animations, cosplay - if you started it and never got it done, it qualifies. There is no sign-up required. I will not assign beta readers for writers, but I can boost requests for those who want them! And I can boost messages of those who would like to beta read.

The mod is a danmei fan mainly, but your work can be any fandom. Maybe something you started before your current fandom excitement took over, or one you keep putting off in favor of compelling new ideas.

Feel free to pass this event info along! The more the merrier!

Further rules and clarifications:

Alt text is very encouraged, especially for boost posts or artwork! Remember, alt text is searchable (so much as anything ever is on this site), so it can help more people find your work as well as letting vision- and internet-impaired fans enjoy it (which is its main purpose).

Machine Generated or “AI” images and writing are not permitted. If you are found in violation of this rule, you will be removed from the event. All images, writing, or other works must be your own.

If your work is NSFW, I will only boost it if it has appropriate content warnings. Spoilering images is recommended but not required as long as it’s tagged. Do not letter-swap or abbreviate content warnings. These are so people can mute them as needed. Example: “gore” not “g0re”

Remember Tumblr can mute phrases, but each warning should be its own tag as well as in the body.

Please use genderbend or genderswap for characters depicted not as canon genders. Example: “#NSFW #genderbend #gore”

Please use Omegaverse or A/O/B for that content. The original letter order is a slur against Aboriginal peoples and will not be tolerated here, even with the slashes. It, like other racial or identity-based slurs, fall under hate speech and are thus not permitted.

This is a positive, shared space. Do not belittle other creators’ medium of choice. Please no fandom/character/ship/creator bashing, and don’t berate artists or authors for not being done with something, even if they don’t finish by the end of the event. Also, please don’t passive-aggressively send this event to the author of an unfinished fic you want to see done faster. 😥 Be cool, respect each other, and keep any interpersonal disagreements to your own tumblrsphere.

Schedule and Hashtags

This account will post weekly morale-boosting messages and helpful resources. Every Friday, starting March 14th, will be Finished It Friday. All the completed works posted that week will be boosted together in a big thread, so we can celebrate your accomplishment!

Halfway-point check-in is April 1st. Final event deadline is April 30th. The last Finished It Friday is May 9th.

All posts and boosts will be crossposted to the event bsky (finishwhatyoustart.bsky.social) and Discord. Expanded rules, explanations, and Dead Dove guidelines can also be found on the Discord. (invite link in pinned post)

Work-in-progress posts should be tagged #FinishWhatYouStarted2025 . If you complete a wip within the event, tag it #IFinishedWhatIStarted2025 for boosting so we can all celebrate!

FAQ:

Q: Are original works acceptable?

A: This is primarily a fanwork-focused event. If original work is the only WIP you have to work on, it’s certainly fine to work on it during the time frame of the event. If it is posted publicly when finished, you may tag it for boosting.

Q: Are there any restrictions on topics?

A: No, so long as your event # post is properly & fully tagged for content (see rules about tagging above). "Dead Dove” topics are allowed. Some submissions will be 18+. For me, this is less about the content and more about finishing it.

Q: Are there any restrictions on media that can be submitted?

A. All content created must be your own and must abide from other stated rules. The usual restrictions based on laws and Community Guidelines of course apply, so you may need to tailor how you post to which event space your interacting with. Twitter, Tumblr, and Discord all have their own rules. There are also some topics that are in poor taste to make fanworks around. The event organizer and mods reserve the right to not boost your work if they decide it is rage-baiting or trolling. They are not responsible for negative reactions to your works. Please be respectful of those you share a digital space with.

Keep in mind that when I link to your finished work during a Finished It Friday, it may reach a wider audience than you may be used to.

Hello Beatle People!

To spread some crimble cheer, The Beatles Kink Meme is hosting the third annual Beatles Secret Santa Fanworks Exchange! Create (& receive!) a piece of fanwork: fanfic, fanart, fanvideo, or gif set!

Sign up! (Will close on October 30): give your contact info and other details about what type of gift you want to give and receive. 

Once you receive your assignment, create a gift that matches your giftee’s preferences. Remember to keep it a secret until the posting. But you can send anonymous messages to ask questions or just to wish your giftee a happy crimble! 

Have your gift completed by December 24-Jan 1 and during that time deliver your gift! You can post it to your tumblr and/or AO3 or submit it to the Beatles Kink meme. Be sure to tag your recipients.

Rules & Guidelines: 

You must have a tumblr to sign up as that will be how your assignment will be shared. Messaging and anon should be turned on to receive your info and so your gift creator can contact you! 

You don’t need to have an ao3 account but we added a question regarding this because some people have different tumblr names from ao3

You can also share your discord name especially if you're in the discord server and/or if you'd like to provide another way of contact for us

Be sure to mark all the types of gifts you would be open to receiving! 

All fanfics should have a minimum of 500 words and all gifts should be completed. No WIPs.
