Ice queen angry at one theft and about to be even madder once she sees the rest of it

Suvi back on her ship, complete in her mission, heading post haste to help Silver and his troops, laboring with her justification machine turned off to figure out what exactly is going on, all while sitting pretty with two levels of exhaustion

Ame and Eursulon, setting precedent with their loud exit from the north pole, headed to Toma, having gained two door knobs of unknown power, a roc friend (?), a way to meet the Antivalists, and an unconscious witch's apprentice

Silver actively fighting for his life after sending a very nice message to Suvi, here's hoping he pulls through

Nif, currently unconscious but probably about to experience a quality of life increase

The Man in Black menacing innocent townsfolk in the middle of the night for probably complex reasons

The Fox with several keys in his stomach, flying on a giant bird-thing, and overall chilling

Its time for a little something I like to call “William Needs to Come Up with Ideas so he Talks to Himself”

The topic of today is

I have a little logo and everything, it’s hysterical.

I know that a number of people have made homestuck ttrpg adaptions, and I’ve read a lot about one called Tablestuck, if I recall correctly. They’re super neat and all the little things that they have are super cool! HOWEVER! The thing about Tablestuck is how many RULES there are.

Like holy shit. There’s SO MUCH. SO MANY THINGS. Every cannon grist type that has a name is listed. There’s a WORKING ALCHEMY SYSTEM and theres like SIX MILLION TYPES OF DAMAGE!!! That’s cool and all. However.

I am a fucking todler in the world of TTRPGs. I’m so very new to them. I’ve never ran a campaign. I’ve been in some, though!

So, the issues that I am facing; 1) The existing system is TOO hard. 2) The game should be enjoyable for people who aren’t huge homestuck fans

The solution? Resort to much more personalized, abstract, and interpretive concepts.

There’s so much about homestuck that I can’t like, sit here and be like “okay you’re a void player so at X level you get x many hp and get these traits” like you do in other systems, because Classpects are so diverse and personal. And you know how you fix that issue? You don’t!

For each character, we are going to discuss exactly what we want out of level ups, which decides what Fraymotifs (i think thats the right term. if its not, i dont care) they get! Things that will fit their character AND be useful to them. It’s personalized!!!!!!

Another thing about Homestuck that was carried over into tablestuck that i couldn’t work with was how lonely it was. Everyone was separated, there wasn’t much of a party. That’s a theme of Homestuck. HOWEVER! That is NOT something I can deal with, and it wasn’t something my players enjoyed. Solution??? Put em all together.

It really doesn’t matter how, I suppose. It’s like any other campaign, find a way to get them all in one spot, baybie!!!

But like. What about the character sheet? It went through a few iterations, honestly. But I’m settling on something more like this!

Its so pretty! and it’s a google doc!!! look at it!!! I’m so in love. The thought for the stats was that we have four, maybe five. They’re called HARDER BETTER FASTER STRONGER as an obvious reference. It was a remnant of our first concept. However, these WILL be changed in the near future, since they overlap way too much to make sense. A fun thought is that all the stats are very general, so you get to make your case to the DM about which one to use for a roll. I feel like I’m gonna use some sort of dice scaling, but yeah! Not sure. And, under the categories, people get like, special skills to roll more on!

the weirdest fucking thing to me is how men will be like "it's so hard being a man. no one cares that i'm sad. the loneliness we experience could NEVER be understood by a woman" and then also be like "btw i never talk to my friends and i don't know their names and i love hanging out with men because they don't talk about their stupid emotions all the time. women could never understand a bond like this." like ???

insane to hear those stories like "a homeless man asked me for money and i bought him some bread instead and he threw it in the trash" like wow.... all this could have been avoided if you treated him like a human being and asked "i can't give you money, is it okay if i buy you food instead?" and he would have said "no" and you could have walked away without wasting money or food, instead of assuming you knew what's best for him. it's not that fucking hard.

A beloved poet, teacher and life-long activist for Palestine, he was recently assassinated along with members of his extended family by a targeted Israeli air strike. His loss leaves a hole in the heart of palestinians all over the world.

Okokok, this episode has a Lot of that good good lore and there's a few pieces I started to put together

Obviously the big one is that the opalescent scarring used to be fold scarring before being rendered inert by the Mothers (are they the only ones that can do that? Are there others?)

This lends a good bit towards Weepe, whatever he went through it left him *completely covered* in fold scarring & having to have it treated by the Mothers. Which is (probably) where he was sending his blood vials to earlier in season 1 (is he still doing that now? If he's not will having no monitoring of his condition have horrifying consequences later?)

Also Lark mentioned the strain of tearror she uses for her glove she had to fix so that it would take down prey quietly and "not obliterate it". As soon as she said that I thought of the pile of goo Atticus Concord ended up as when Weepe hit him with his blood. Which. Doesn't sound very inert to me. So was the damage to Weepe/integration of the fold so intense that the Mothers were only able to contain it and prevent any outward physical mutations? Is Weepe really a walking tearror ecosystem and if so, what happens if he gets hurt??

Okay if you haven't yet, and you have Netflix/Paramount+, consider giving "School Spirits" a chance.

It looks like a silly little cheesy teenage ghosts show, I put it on for background noise, and then got totally engrossed in the mystery. It's VERY well written, very well filmed, the mystery was GREAT and the payoff at the end is also great.

One of the things majorly lacking in shows I've recently tried to watch is that they try to do a twist/reveal at the end that comes out of nowhere. They don't want you to guess what they're doing. This show doesn't do that. This show wants you to guess. They give you seven different mysteries and enough clues to guess (most of) what is going on, so that when you get the final puzzle piece to any given mystery, it feels GREAT.

The story premise is this: a teenager in hs wakes up as a ghost in the hs, and doesn't remember how she died, and with the help of the other ghosts, tries to solve the mystery of her own death.

Simple premise. BEAUTIFULLY executed. Not all of the questions that arise get answered, but the main one (what she doesn't remember) gets solved by the end of the season, leaving the "why/how and what comes next" to be carried to the next season. It does a cliffhanger RIGHT. But now I desperately want to see the second season (which I believe has been approved, so it's a matter of waiting).

So pretty please, if you're looking for something to do and a great, engaging lil mystery to watch, consider! School Spirits!!
