Damian is child who was raised and abused and groomed by the league of assassins just examples of the abuse he faced

Punishing anyone for even speaking to Damian isolation basically killing a animal Infront of Damian telling him showing emotion is weak

And physical abuse so bad that organs had to be replaced

And all of this caused Damian to have breakdown this was before he met Bruce having to kill Goliath family for the league was the last straw it caused him to have a breakdown

Damian had no other influences other than his league of assassins teachers Ra's and talia because isolated not even the guards where aloud to talk him and that's why dealing with a child who is as abused as Damian with punishment doesn't work because again Damian has been brainwashed since the day he born till age 10 to believe that what he was doing(killing )was right and didn't understand why it's was wrong Damian himself says this how you deal with rivals in the league he really just didn't known any better
