This novel means so much to me as a disabled/chronically ill woman with POTS. I have never seen my experience represented like this in any other book except for maybe Get a Life, Chloe Brown. I will forever be thankful for Lillie Lainoff and her bravery in sharing her own experiences so openly.

The Ultimate Grimoire Guide
So! I have been seeing a ton of grimoire ideas and thought I’d stuff them all together. A lot of ideas are from @manifestationsofasort, @banebite, and @pigeonflavouredcake. Check them out! They have a ton of cool stuff there.
What Do I Use For My Grimoire?
You can use anything for a grimoire! For a physical one, journals, binders, and notebooks are good. For digital ones, Notion, Tumblr, Docs, and even just your file folder are great.

Fuck the DEA!

From American Agony by Dr Helen Borel
People always be like "of course people with painful diagnoses will get opioid pain medication!" But the reality is those in charge care more about reducing deaths by reducing pills, pain patients be dammed.
If restriction stopped addiction we'd still be under prohibition. Science based addiction recovery efforts allow for drug use until the person is ready to quit. But that would require too much effort and empathy.

Be careful with adrenal supplements it turns out that shit makes you produce adrenaline and my ass got paranoid that I had mad cow disease (I'm a vegetarian) and I almost threw up realizing a bear could fit through my window if he wanted (I live in a major city)

Book Of Shadows Prompts: Spoonie Witch Edition
Disclaimer- I'm disabled and this is based on my own experiences of what I've needed. If you have anything to add, please let me know!
Little ways to practice magic when you feel unwell
Sigils to help you remember to take your meds
A reminder that it's okay to not feel okay.
A ritual for a soothing bath
Accessible methods of divination- it's okay to find tarot cards too fiddly, or not feel safe around fire. What works for you?
A blessing of sturdiness and longevity for your disability aids
A protection spell for you and/or your assistance animal
Neurographic art
Mantras and affirmations to get you through your worst days
Maps of local places and accessible routes- mark out the benches, and any paths that are wheelchair accessible. Some might have indoor viewing spots (potentially with a café) so that you can still enjoy nature in bad weather.

Love the implication here that you're gonna get several more bodies.
My original one came with a lot of factory defects so I'm due for a warranty replacement any time now.

The above used without permission from Dr Seuss' You're Only Old Once! A Book for Obsolete Children which I highly recommend you check out from your library! It's a quick read but oh boy did I relate. It was a lot of fun and very spoonie/aging-relatable.

I’d like to take a moment to boost a good friend’s work, both because I like her and because it’s really good. The main character has EDS and also aspirations of becoming a serial killer, and she struggles with actualizing that because of, you know, the constant subluxations and dislocations and pain.
Here’s my review from Goodreads:
Amazing representation, and a book and protagonist I couldn't tear myself away from! This is a really excellent, high-tension story with a delightful cast. The details are unsettling but all fit together into a coherent narrative; none of the violence and gore is gratuitous or there for shock value. The writing is fantastic. But what really gets me is that I can see my experience reflected in this story. Am I a serial killer? No. Do I want to be? No. But we all know the power of seeing yourself in media, and something about seeing myself in a genre I don't even belong in is amazing. Although I don't struggle with whether I can successfully carry out a murder and the extra, mundane logistics required to do it with a disability, I struggle with other things in my life in the same way. Things I can't do, or worry I will lose the ability to do. Having to think everything through extra, bring medical accessories, cancel on people. There's something amazing about seeing that in a totally different context. It makes me and my experience more real.
Anyway, I really liked it, and I think a lot of us could use a story like this.
(Also a lot of people could maybe not. Be careful with yourself, as this story is really gory and uh... well, it’s about a serial killer, kind of what it says on the box.)

A major part of a magical life is setting intentions. For me, one way I do that is using my planner and journals, so it's something I use pretty regularly in my magical workings.
I don't keep anything that a lot of other Witches would call a Book of Shadows. My journals and planner hold everything. My tarot readings, keeping track of when I refresh my protection spells, all of the correspondences I've collected and worked with, daily affirmations, and so much more that I'm probably forgetting to list. It all goes into one of these two books.
It's not aesthetically pleasing to look at, but it's a system that's been working for me ❤️
